my 4 she ra fics as siblings in a family:

you can leave the fursuit on: mother believed in you so much until push came to shove and she realized you were miles short of where your siblings are. you will never be as good as them, you’re far from good, according to her. she’s lost all hope in you. she never has anything nice to say to you anymore. you claim that you are well liked, that you are the talk of the town. isn’t that enough? is that not an achievement? everyone loves you but they just refuse to admit it because you are different. unsavory even. shameful. you can’t shake this feeling that she agrees. your own mother cannot look at you without this face of remorse. you never stop being confused. why would she bring a child into this world only to look at it with such disdain? rumor has it you’re an accident

why would you ever kiss me?: ‘a parent loves all their children equally.’ your siblings scoff at this. it’s like a big joke, an open secret. you are the Favorite Child. you’re not sure you want to be, though. it feels fleeting, it feels conditional. why are you the favorite? it’s not because of anything permanent. mother loves you because of the pride you bring her and nothing else. she’s getting greedier. your mother wants you to be more than just her child. she’s already started to raise her expectations. they keep growing. you fear the day you stop being able to keep up
