This is not at all what my page is but I gotta talk about something.
Tumblr media
THIS MAN RIGHT HERE IS PRESTON GARVEY
And you guys do not put ANY respect on his name. This man survived the Quincy Massacre after having been with the Minutemen for presumably a few years, and he STAYED even when every other Minuteman had either died or deserted.
By the time you meet him he had contemplated suicide heavily for a few days at this point, and potentially more even further back. He entrusts you to be the leader the Minutemen need, and I hope he was right for some if not most of you.
YOU GUYS GIVE THIS MAN SO MUCH SHIT when in all actuality he is deeply depressed, terrified, and traumatised.
I romanced him, I got to know him, and by god if I don’t want to keep this man protected and safe with all my heart. He has seen so much it hurt him that deeply and I want to give him peace and safety seriously guys this boy deserves our sympathy and care. All the characters are traumatised but Preston is the one people don’t think about or realise because they brush him off as annoying. He went through so much pain because he just genuinely wanted to help people
Okay rant over I just think about this a lot
EDIT: I’ve literally felt this way about Preston for years and I always defended him verbally, it just got hate

Things in fo4 I refuse to think about and simply ✨️ignore✨️
that Shaun doesn't age. It literally makes no sense if the Gen 3 synths are more like clones than robots, but whatever stupid fallout Lore
additionally that gen 3 synths can't reproduce. IF THEY ARE CLONES THEIR BASICALLY JUST HUMANS WITH A CHIP IN THEIR BRAIN THAT CONTROLS IT OR AM I MISUNDERSTANDING SYNTHS?
That the institute doesn't do some weird evil science shit to the people they snatch. Come on we all know their capable it's just lazy writing to not have evidence
That Maxson isn't a super detailed character. He had so much potential.... I get leaving some stuff up to fan interpretation, but come on now fans shouldn't have to give the man a personality because the writers wouldn't
That Cait is Irish and Vladim is Russian... it makes no damn sense considering bombs went off 200 years ago and no ones been in or out of the country since...
That the Lucy Maccready married wasn't the same Lucy from little lamplight
That Hancock isn't Fahrenheits father (adopted or otherwise)
That Danse and Curie are technically kinda related to the sole survivor and yet are still romancable (Sole is the parent of Shaun -> Shaun's DNA Created synths hence the title "father" -> Curie and Danse are synths)
That Danse can actually be really frickin dark sometimes (Send em back to hell while shooting at the BOS post BB.... like dude do you not know those people???)
That X6-88 just dosent realize or doesn't care enough to comment on the institute being blown up when like literally every other character does
that you don't evacuate the kids on the prydwen when you blow it up 💔
that you can't bring sparky back to a settlement so you just abandon him (unrelated but my hc is he was the sole survivors lost dog from before the bombs)
That we never find out what happened to Hancock's parents. They sounded so nice what happened to them?
That Danse doesn't have a canonical first name
The whole Nick kellog thing that just never got brought up again
That Irma look so cool if she really is just a background character. I thought she was gonna be way more important

[MacCready Idolizes You]
➼ Word Count » 0.4k ➼ Warnings » None ➼ Summary » Headcanons based on how MacCready treats you once Idolized.
Tumblr media
MacCready pulls you into the biggest hug after you help get the serum for him. He's so incredibly grateful and might even start crying into your shoulder if you hug him back.
The entire event has made him consider giving Duncan a middle name based on you, but he won't tell you that. Nevertheless, fully expect to take on the role of his Godfather/mother cause you've already been given it, whether you wanted to or not.
He likes to take borrow some of the magazines and comics you've collected. A lot of the time you'll find him just sitting in the corner flipping through them.
MacCready actually really likes to help the settlers with their farm. Every night he'll come over to your house and drop off some vegetables for you.
Likes to see how many gunners either of you can snipe within a certain time period. It's a therapeutic game for him.
He loves hiking across the Commonwealth with caravans and would gladly bring you along to camp and joke around with as you defended the traders.
MacCready loves going to pubs with you, even if neither of you ends up drinking. There’s just something so refreshing about sitting in a booth at the Dugout Inn and telling each other stories of your past.
Throws his hat on top of your head a lot.
He relies a lot on you to keep him in check on whether he’s being a good person or not. He feels like he's in the clear whenever you allow him around Shaun.
When you both feel ready, he’ll ask if he can bury the little toy soldier he gave Lucy with something sentimental of your spouse’s to really give them both the proper burial they deserved.
He’ll end up being your roommate whether you wanted him to or not. He can’t help but feel comfortable around you and in your home, so he just kinda moves in.
Just cause y’all are closer doesn’t mean he’s stopped being your hired bodyguard. Just keep it in mind anytime someone starts an argument with you.
He'll make a very sorry attempt at decorating whenever you dismiss him to a settlement. He tries his best, he's just horrible at interior design.
Very physically affectionate. He likes to throw his arm around you or even just simply pat your back whenever the two of you survived something dangerous.
Honestly, though, MacCready's just happy to have found a close bond like he remembered having at Little Lamplight. It means a lot that you've put up with him for this long and, at this point, there's nothing you could do to get rid of him.

Paladin Danse HCs
Requested by @xxrein-rausxx. Thank you for your request! Please enjoy!
Tumblr media
Danse always found it weird that he could not remember ever seeing himself as a child or young boy.
He also found it odd that one day, people who he'd be selling scrap to or trading with ever since he was a "child" didn't know him after he turned 20. He thought it was a weird prank and didn't like it.
Soon, he managed to get enough caps and decided to get out of D.C. and to Rivet City.
He also considers his gaps in memory to be a result of combat injuries.
Suffers from depersonalisation derealisation, especially when thinking about his past. When he was younger he'd get panic attacks about it, but, with help from the BOS medical unit, they helped him manage them.
It got worse when he learned he was a synth. Now with existential dread and intense self-hatred.
Again, with the help of Curie and other doctors, along with the Railroad he learned to manage them and come to terms that he is a synth.
He apologises to Nick and Hancock, along with other synths, ghouls, or mutants he was rude to.
Scribe Haylen actually sneaks him a letter from time to time.
He absolutely ADORES cats. He ends up adopting them.
Would often tell stories about D.C. and his time fighting to young squires and later wasteland children.

Father Nick Valentine?
I know most people find Nick attractive and wished that he could be a romantic companion which i do agree with, but I see him more of a father figure than anything else and I wish that there were more Dad Nick fanfics with him and the player and also with Ellie. Mostly Ellie cause just something about them screams Father and Daughter to me.

Deacon and angry young teen sole is a concept I think about a-lot.
Sole refused to travel with anyone, opting to deal with everything the wasteland had to offer alone. Its hard being hormonal and going through so much tragedy, they could have led down a very dark and bloody path. but they end up in the railroads hands after they discover the connection with their baby brothers kidnapping and the institute.
Deacon is pretty calm about their bitter remarks and kind of sees the angry kid he was in them. somehow he convinces Desdemona to let this less than 16 year old join the railroad, he makes a quip about them being his responsibility. he’ll train them, feed them, take them on walks- don’t worry about it Des.
Deacon would imitate the kid’s hip lingo in a way that is both endearing and very annoying. But, they’d warm up and end up adopting his mannerisms and humour too.
Deacon would get them a matching pair of sunnies. people would call them ‘Deacon and smaller Deacon’, it be weird if you saw one without the other.
Years down the line when sole is an adult, they’d make a very heartfelt confession that Deacons become like a father to them after the vault. its very hurt comfort. everyone is crying. Deacon, in at least a part, finally gets to feel like a dad.

Okay so I started thinking more about the horrors of being the sole survivor and a new Headcanon has been born- I feel like sole would have a really hard time falling or even staying asleep no matter how long they are in the wastes. Regardless of what happens or whatever closure they may find, peace never really hits them after everything.

hey! It’s my birthday! Jew, how do you thingk peole in the wasteland celebrate birthdays and shit? Like cannonicly they celebrate Christmas and Halloween but what else?
How people celebrate birthdays in the fallout universe!
I did this by faction, hope that’s ok :)
Do raiders/watelanders know their birthdays? Their parents would have to survive through childbirth and to the point where a child can grasp the concept. Even then, would they celebrate? For many, being born in the post-nuclear apocalypse feels like a curse but do they still value their souls to the point they accept their existence? What about ghouls? Do they still keep living out of fear of the unknown, yet resent growing older with each passing day? Would they still care?
Personally, I love the concept of raiders being akin to a kindergarten class when it comes to birthdays. Someone brings in a huge box of Fancy Lad Snack Cakes and they go to town. Most likely not presents, but a bit more respect and kindness. After all, isn’t that the best gift in the wasteland? To know someone cares?
The brotherhood would probably award the participating party with half a day off to do whatever. Many probably have family members who are outside of the brotherhood’s ranks, or in Fo4, back in the capital wastes. Giving time off (as a reward) can allow for communication between loved ones, boosting morale and giving something to work for. I can just see a knight stepping out of their power armor and heading downtown to see magnolia sing.
No one in the institute would celebrate birthdays in a sentimental manner. Many will be recognized for a good job they did since they were first created/employed, but aside from that, birthdays will be scarce.
In the railroad, parties are kinda a big thing, mostly due to decon. Dez thinks it’s all a waste of time, but also secretly enjoys some levity. Lots of pranks and shananagins and cake smashing. It’ll be fun until someone runs in interrupting about some synth or safe house lost.  Then back to business as usual.  - (Side note: I headcannon the brotherhood interrupting during glory’s birthday party :). )
Minutemen is a bit tricky tbh. As a group, they definitely can spare a bit of supplies for a higher-ups birthday. If it’s just a regular soldier, they’ll probably get a pat on the back and a few nice words from Preston, with maybe so ammo. They don’t have a lot of time to spare, as well as materials to make it happen.
At home, (with the individual families and settlements), it’s hard to day. Depends on the person’s situation and preferences.
I think a lot of people celebrate turning a year older on new years. I’m guessing NYE is kinda a big deal. Like, we survived another year! Isn’t that great? And notjust us, but the world as we know it. Things shift, but they also stay the same. But war. War never changes.
Thanks anon for giving me this prompt!

New Danse headcanon(s)!
His special interest is mechanics/robotics, which is why he knows so much about guns and power armour. Considering he gives you a modified laser rifle when you first meet, I reckon he has just a pile of guns to mod. He also loves to infodump about different models of guns, etc. When he's stressed and needs to zone out, he'll clean and tinker with his power armour and guns. Like, he'll take his guns apart to the point of just being components, clean each part till they shine, then put it back together. Considering he's always stressed, his power armour is always in tip-top shape, much to Ingram's pleasure.

[Been thinking about Duncan lately, so, older Duncan doodle?]
[Some random hcs under the cut?]
The cure, despite miraculously booting the fever from his system and halting the likely degeneration of his body, didn't "fix" the damage the disease had already caused. The boils left discoloration and scarring, his muscles had become too weak to really support his body, and he struggled with speech and memory.
This was probably a bit distressing for Maccready, but also not too surprising? A lot of the kids back in Little Lamplight struggled with various health problems, such as the rickets and malnutrition mentioned in fo3, so he probably wasn't shocked by it nor unprepared, just terribly anxious about anything getting worse and Duncan's health taking a plummet again.
I like to think Maccready brought Duncan to the Commonwealth once things settle a bit, and because of so, Curie was able to assist in furthering his treatment. It helped her research more into the health of children in the wasteland and create better over-all treatment for settlements, and in turn helped Duncan over time regain more of his strength and motor-skills.
It's not often a parent gets to watch their child learn to walk and run for a second time, but Maccready did, and it seems his stubborn determination is quite genetic.
While he is capable of walking and running, Duncan's balance never really returned and he tires very easily, hence the walking cane in the doodle. He likely has a few depending on what he needs for the day or how tired/achy he is, since the "quality" of his health might be a bit more of a day-by-day ordeal.
Hancock tried gifting Duncan a sword-cane he had laying around in the Old State House for a birthday, but Maccready quickly intervened, putting it away till Duncan was older. Maccready did think it was pretty cool though.
In a way, Cait and Duncan somewhat bonded over their recovery processes. (I tend to believe that that really sketchy vault machine also wasn't a "cure-all" type deal, and so, Cait also likely had quite the road ahead of her when it came to recovering.) Duncan looked up to her when it came to stuff such as the physical therapy, as she seemed so strong to him, and he wanted to do his best, but not push himself too hard, to one day be as strong as her. Funnily enough, Cait thought it the other way around, watching this small child carefully build himself back up, she figured he was the much stronger one in a self-loathing way. But eventually she figured "If this kid can do it, why the fuck can't I?"
Weirdly enough, the disease didn't leave many effects on Duncan's eyesight and he has about the same hawk-like vision of his father. However, the disease did affect how steady his hands are, so he can't really shoot as straight without support or leaning against something. He's a good spotter though. Might enjoy bird-watching?
While debatable with the wonkiness of canon, I do tend to lean towards Duncan's mother having been the Lucy from Little Lamplight just because, idk, I really loved her in fo3, and while I hate it meaning she dies in such a way, I do like the idea of Duncan having many of her traits, both physically and personality-wise. He's almost a near-50/50 mix of his parents.
Like Lucy, he's a lot more naturally patient compared to Maccready. Constant physical therapy and medical appointments made that a bit of a heaven sent. Probably, a bit of a funny image from an outside view in the waiting rooms of clinics. (Duncan sitting calmly, perhaps reading a comic or drawing, and next to him Mac just constantly looking around, bouncing his leg, wringing his hands, making small noises to distract from fretting about Duncan.)
Despite the patient nature, he is just about as distractible as Maccready is. Father and son shopping/restocking runs go a little out of hand because of that. They both prefer lists and schedules.
Duncan is a very avid reader, but generally loves stories in whatever form he can get them in. It was a bit of a life-line during the worst of his fever, having someone there to read to him or tell him stories and distract him from the pain. It became a passion of his later on. He loves hearing Daisy talk about the pre-war libraries, and her favorite stories.
Perhaps he'd take up writing? Making up his own stories to read or tell to others just as they had to him. Maybe he'd weasel an extra or un-used type-writer from Piper to write with.
Just like his Dad, fish/seafood does not agree with him. But! Unlike his Dad, he's not allergic to dust lol.
Duncan's soft-spoken for the most part, which just makes his threats or insults all the more intense as he can deliver them with his father's conviction, just a lot calmer and serious.
...Duncan does swear, he just tries to hide it from Maccready. ( Mac knows...)

FALLOUT 4 HEADCANON MASTERPOST
two and a half years ago (👀) I posted a list of headcanons right around when I started playing around with the ideas in my fallout WIP
I've decided they ( 1 + 2 ) need to be updated and added to especially after Death Shroud gave me so many great ideas/things I want to steal. Added break to save you dash my loves <3
I will keep adding to this lmao
SECTIONS:
Death Shroud Stuff I'm Kidnapping
Misc Stuff From Asks, Mods, and My Brain (AKA THE LONGEST SECTION)
From #1 (Link Here)
We are keeping chair bound Murphy
I may or may not be recanting my gangly tall 'n thin Hancock HC. I oscillate wildly between wanting him to be Eldritch God™ tall and "gimme uppies! :3" short. He may end up being both. His height will be whatever is funniest for the bit.
oh yeah Sarah Lyons got merc-ed B)
We are still kicking with Kellogg in Nicky's skull but with the added angsty-ness brought in by Death Shroud. Oh the plot! Oh how it hurts so good! Kellogg wanting to find someway to punish the SoleSu(s) and Nick for picking through his memories? Ugh! Give me it all.
We are cutting Billy and the Fridge. I don't want to deal with the nightmare plot holes it will bring up and Quincy will already have enough BS. Plus the more I think about it the less I like the whole quest and its placement. Fuck! Maybe he'll be referenced in Publick Occurrences? I don't care! We're loosey goosey bay-be!
- 10. can stay. I have no issues with them and nothing funny to add
From #2 (Link Here)
Now I can bring up my beloved Vault-Tec Rep. Him in the Death Shroud? Perfect. Beautiful. Stunning. I no longer have to call him Paul Eiding as a very direct nod to his VO. Our Beloved David Dwecker is married to Sheffield and they have a house in Sanctuary filled with Nuka-Cola memorabilia (for Sheffield) and collectable plates (the kind grandmothers display for our lovely Rep). They have a little sitting area set up in the carport where they hangout, smoke, and dance together to Diamond City Radio. I need this for my mental health okay?
Shaun being Autistic is something I really want to explore. I truly forget who I first saw say this but it is not an original idea by any means. I also think the poor thing would have some level of trauma from everything so exploring that is gonna be fun! (no it will not oh my god I'm going to dredge up all my childhood issues.)
OHHHH CHRISTMAS. YULETIDE. FEAST OF ST. NICHOLAS. I find the "Seth Patrick" bit SO funny in Death Shroud so that is staying but also I feel like the feast of St. Nicholas got jokingly flipped into a celebration of Nick Valentine (Same with Valentine's Day) and people are beginning to forget the correct version. Nick tolerates it with an eye roll and a wry joke about people needing to read their history books but secretly finds the whole thing funny. Ellie has a santa suit for Nick to don during "his" holiday. Also the school children in Diamond City send Nick "Valentines" on valentines day and he displays them on his corkboard.
Music. My god the Johnny Guitar bit had me by the throat during Death Shroud. Expand those music libraries! Before you know it I'm gonna give Travis a rolling ladder attached to bookcases upon bookcases of records and holotapes. I want to hear people complain about how many Andrews Sisters records survived and God why won't Travis stop playing them!
The Flavor of Goodneighbor needs to be so complex. Like a good pasta sauce. I better be so overcome by the layers and smells and textures. Better Goodneighbor and Better Third Rail are really good starts but I'm expanding the shit out of both of them I think. I want to feel like Goodneighbor truly is dangerous to be in. Being able to cross most of the town in one sprint burst isn't cutting it Bethany Esda! Make it truly baffling how Hancock knows so much about the happenings in his town.
- 8. are about the BoS and I stand by them. You will get to meet my Lone Wanderer and learn about the hierarchies a little better. I redesigned the Orders and added one I think? I have to re-sort those notes lmao. Also the piloting thing is like MAJORLY important to me because the frequency of vertibird crashes in game pissed me off to no end.
From Death Shroud (@chadfallout76podcast THANK YOU)
Danse is just... Like That now. I can't wait to explore his character before and after Blind Betrayal especially because he will not be leaving the Brotherhood and he will still be Like That. [spoiler warning ;) for my story lol] I can't wait for the beautiful moments that will be born of it.
I actually kind of love some of the plot points in Death Shroud like the Mob Family wars? Staying 100%. Same with Ma and Boss Lombardo and some of the other families.
As is Charlie but I refuse to let him die. I got very attached to Charlie and his death was so perfect but this time he gets to stay alive dammit.
Magnolia sending Magnolia flowers with her letters? Genius
Vault-Tec Rep (David my beloved) being the saddest, wettest cat of a man imaginable when he's in Goodneighbor? Also fucking genius.
"Fish-lips" Malone being part of the same family as Skinny has me so excited for more mob family bullshit.
Ruffino's and the Black Rose is being transplanted somewhere and maybe might be near the Combat Zone. New den of sin anyone?
Obviously I'm not going to attempt to pull apart the fabric of reality in-canon but my god Death Shroud was fun <3
Some new Misc HCs
Diamond City is bigger and more populated, kind of in the same vein as the Goodneighbor HC. I haven't found a mod layout I like so I might end up redesigning it (Please kill me)
This is an old one from an ask! Hancock will help work the bar at the Third Rail occasionally. He's a notorious show off and his cocktails are mainly just straight liquor but he entertains the hell out of people when he dives over the bar to take orders and bother Whitechapel Charlie. There are major losses on nights he bartends due to the fact he forgets (sometimes purposefully) to take payment. Regulars know to put the cash in the tip jar so Whitechapel can collect it at the end of the night.
Another thing I'm keeping from an ancient ask, Danse wants kids. Badly. And the crushing blow of being sterile really fucks with him for a while. but he eventually comes to terms with it. He's also still touchy (as in he's always touching his partner) per that ask because I think that's cute.
I'm just going through old asks now lmao. Nick and Ellie dance together like the true father-daughter pair they are
I forgot who drew this but I once saw someone pair Sturges and Ellie together and that is the cutest damn thing so it stays.
MacReady got the Lone Wanderer's Grognak magazine as a gift for letting them into Little Lamplight and it's one of his prized possessions.
Macready and the Lone Wanderer's reunion is very cute my dudes.
More general slice of life stuff like fishing on the mainland and boats, more things to do in general, transportation, cool amputees, and other shit listed in this post I reblogged YEARS ago
OH Travis and Scarlett get married <3
Danny Sullivan skips town after taking the fun way down from the mayor's office and travels with some cross country caravans before coming back to work in Diamond City. YES HE LIVES!
Holy fuck i forgot I had this mod but the Institute projects the sky up on their ugly concrete dome because this mod fucks hard
Just the general vibe of raiders employing children and stringing more dead mutilated bodies about. There are mods for that and let me tell you they make the raider camps horrifying. No I will not be linking them. But they are available on Nexus should you want them.
Okay I'm changing the layout of everything apparently: Including but not limited to the Railroad HQ, The Prydwen, Vault 111, etc. Fuck game design I guess lmao. I like XFreakish's Railroad Redone and NordKitten's A Sensible Prydwen Overhaul for in game and basically plan to build off of them.
The asks: Hancock bartending, Danse wanting kids and being into physical affection, Nick and Ellie Dancing + MacReady and the LW's Grognak (same ask)

any thoughts on how companions (dlc included) would react to a kid sole survivor? like if shaun was their baby brother and nate+nora were their parents?
Fo4 Companions With A Child!Sole
➼ Word Count » 1.7k ➼ Warnings » None
MacCready doesn't know what to do when he sees a kid walk straight into the Third Rail with nothing but a vault suit and a weapon they surely don't know how to properly use strapped to their side. He'll go up to you before you even get the chance to do anything else in here. He's so worried that someone in Goodneighbor will try to get you hooked on something, so he'll take you straight to Diamond City, even if he hates most of the people there. You remind him of himself when he was that age and he wants to make sure you don't do anything you might end up regretting. He almost adopts you in a way, never really leaving your side out of fear that you'll get hurt. MacCready will do whatever he can to help you reunite with your brother and will be on your side no matter what ends up happening.
Nick feels awful for you. You've lost everything yet here you are trying to gain some semblance of it back. He can't help but want to try and give you some kind of closure for everything you've gone through and will drop everything to try and track down Shaun with you. He's careful with his word choice as he doesn't want you to loose all hope, but he'll tell you the truth if leads end up empty or if there's nothing more he can really do. Nick's not going to lie and tell you everything will be okay, but he will tell you that he'll be there to help you feel better when everything is said and done, no matter how it all plays out.
Cait hates the idea of traveling with a kid, she's so scared that you'll end up like her. She'll do her best to be as closed off as she possibly can so none of her personality rubs off on you, and then she'll take you to an area safer than the combat zone. She doesn't care where it is, as long as you end up in the care of literally anyone else. After that, she'll leave and you'll never see her again.
Danse would immediately take you under his wing and train you to be a soldier. He wouldn't want to shelter you in any way, instead, he'd try to teach you survival and how to live out here in the waste. It'll almost feel like you're in the boy scouts as he'll teach you how to tie knots and make knives and whatnot. He'd hate if you ended up being swayed by the wrong people, or worse, if you ended up dead. He's constantly reassuring you about finding your brother and with the Brotherhood's help, you'll have nothing to worry about.
Preston would be quick to add you to the Quincy group. Something about you being so young and so determined makes him feel all sorts of ways. He's so incredibly appreciative you came along, although, he refuses to make you general, if anything, he'd just promote himself to that position while he takes care of you. Him and Sturges would teach you how to use a hammer so you could aid with rebuilding some of the settlements, but also to just give you a distraction from everything you experienced in the vault. Preston will be super understanding and kind toward you, and the Quincy survivors will begin to feel like the family you never got to grow up with.
Codsworth feels dreadful when he sees you walk down from the vault all cut up and bruised... and alone. He cleans you up and puts you down to sleep. Now that you have no parents he feels that it's his duty to fill that missing role for you and will constantly be doting on you just like your mother would. He finds it so noble that you want to find where your brother was taken and will do everything he can to ensure that you stay healthy enough to be able to continue forward, even if sometimes he struggles to find anything non-irradiated for you to eat.
Piper will be like an older sister to you, giving you a bedtime and occasionally making you attend the school in Diamond City. She's even more determined to get security to start looking into synths and the Institute when she hears you're story and will look into it more deeply while you're in class or busy hanging around Nick. She doesn't care that you're a kid or that this isn't the world you're used to, she's still prepared to defend you and have your voice be listened too.
Curie thinks it's amazing that you've come so far with next to nothing. Her Miss Nanny instincts make her want to travel with you if nothing else than to keep you safe. I don't think she'd have too much of a concept of how dangerous it is for a kid to be wandering around in a wasteland and would probably just treat it as any other normal day. You and her would learn a lot together as you wandered the Commonwealth and it'd probably be the most wholesome pairing on this list as you both still hold that childlike wonder and curiosity.
Strong thinks you're a good enough leader for making it all the way to the top of Trinity Tower with your size, and would agree to follow you just the same as if you were an adult. He thinks your goal in finding your brother is dumb and useless, saying something like "Won't find, Shaun most likely dead". He's got no remorse and if you ever cried in front of him he'd start insulting you. Nonetheless, he'll try to raise you as a mutant and convince you to start doing more mutant-like things. Someone would have to step in and get you or you'd grow up to be a cannibal.
Hancock freezes when he sees a child walking around Goodneighbor. This place isn't for you and he'll go up to you, take your hand, and lead you up to the Old State House to question you about why you're here and where you're parents are. He'll escort you over to Diamond City and hand you off to Nick. He knows he's a bad influence and would rather you be with someone who can actually help you with you're case rather than drifting around in Goodneighbor where anyone could snatch you.
Deacon hates that you joined the Railroad. It just isn’t the place for a kid to be around and he’d rather hand you off to any of the other companions, however, he can’t help but think of how good a kid spy would be or how badly he's always wanted to raise a kid. He’ll try to shelter you and keep you away from violence as best he can while also telling you jokes and teasing you about being the “youngest looking 200 year old” he’s ever seen. He has mixed feelings on it, but he does end up teaching you how to lie really well and get away with things you normally wouldn’t have. Deacon loves having you around, but he can’t help but feel you don’t belong in an environment like this and will almost certainly hand you off to someone else if he feels that it's beginning to get too overwhelming.
X6-88 isn't all too sure how to feel. He's not sure how you managed to make it all the way to the Institute, and he isn't sure why Father would just release you from the vault with nothing going for you. He thinks it's incredibly admirable of you to care so much about your brother and has high respect for you even if you're just a kid. He'll ensure that you'll never have to scavenge for food or water or any other resource ever again. Everything will be taken care of by him and he will make sure that you're 100% safe if you continue traveling the wasteland.
Dogmeat will be slightly more protective over you, sticking closer by your side as you wander around. Sometimes he'll even bite your shirt and drag you into some bushes to avoid a swarm of mutants or raiders. Besides that, nothing will really change with him.
Old Longfellow doesn't know why you keep hanging around him, but he doesn't mind all that much. He'll buy you some apple juice or something while you sit with him in the bar maybe even a sip of his beer and just listen to all your tales and stories of the Commonwealth. He'd end up just accepting that you probably won't leave him alone and just escort you to wherever you want. He might even take you on a boat and teach you how to fish if he likes you enough. One thing you can trust when traveling with him is that he'd never let anyone on the island take advantage of your young age or naivety. He's constantly on the lookout for anyone who might want to influence you in a certain way and will quickly put an end it if he sees it happening.
Gage can't help but laugh at his own expense when he sees a kid walk out of the Gauntlet and into the Cola-Cars Arena. How the two of you seemed to end up in the worst situations will always be funny to him and he hated that he had to be the one to announce you as the Overboss to everyone else in the park. He already knows Nisha is going to tear his throat out when she hears the news. He doesn't really expect you to live for very long and thinks you even being here is an absolute joke, but he'll treat you like he'd treat any other Overboss and would be amazed if you actually got the power working again. In fact, all of the other gang leaders would be. It'd almost be like having a bunch of older siblings defending you at every turn.

the more i think about the institute in fallout 4, and the FEV experiments, the more convinced i am that the institute scientists who started the programme just played way too much resident evil as kids, and thought they could do what william and annette birkin couldn't in re2 with the g virus

I like to think that in the Agency, somewhere, probably on top of one of the file cabinets, there is a small photo holder with a broken stander that is being stabilized by a empty cigar box which holds caps for emergencies only or a golden locket or other pictures. And the photo is of Nick, Dogmeat, and Ellie (In that exact Order) doing that classic family photo pose where 1 person is sitting (Nick) while the others surround them.
I've even drawn an doodle of it!:

What I think the vanillia FO4 companions eat on a normal day.
“fanfiction-y headcannons i sscratched out this morning. Lol idk when the sun rises in america so this might be completely weird and off. Sun rises 5:30 or 6 where i am. i suppose it shouldn’t matter too much tho. im not a writer, i was just possessed this morning so please dont take this too seriously, thx.”
Warning!
Some companions I headcanon as having some poor (but pretty normal) eating habits (eg; forgetting to eat, not eating for long periods of time in the day, substituting not-meals for meals, or eating habits that are synonimous with depression or other mental illnesses). If in general topics about eating habits make you uncomfortable, best to skip this one.
Codsworth:[read first]
Breakfast(8:00am)-when sole is around, he would naturally cook for them. Some friends (and settlers) started joining Sole for tea some days, which slowly turned into him cooking pretty much every day. Breakfast is always coffee, fried eggs, fresh fruit, and grilled meat if they have it.
Lunch(12:00pm)- spends the first half of day running around getting ingredients, will go out hunting if he has to. He has lots of different michelin star recipes in his code, but he has to get creative with what he has. If your not showing up to lunch you better tell him, he’ll be really upset if you usually come but decided to flake off that day.
Dinner(7:00pm)- starch, meat, veg, and carb. The time of the day where. Shit. gets. Real. expect no less than beef wellington, or an apocalyptic adjacent wellington. it also means bad table manners will not be tolerated. You get amazing free food, but if you put your elbows on the table or get unruly, codsworth is gonna whir around and bonk you on the head with his metal claw.
Cait:
breakfast(10:00am)- wakes up too late to have what codsworth cooks. And girl is hungry. No such thing as breakfast ick with her. One 4 egg omelet, salted, and a coffee.
lunch(12:00pm)- 2 servings of whatever codsworth makes. If she can help it, she will not cook. Not a huge fan of mirelurk if there's any.
dinner(7:00pm)- starch and meat, she doesn't care about anything else on the table. Despite drinking, she is surprisingly well behaved. The fights start after dinner is over though.
Curie:
breakfast(5:00am)-tea, extra sugar
snack/lunch(12:30pm)-she usually forgets. it's hard trying to read her new body, especially when she can get so consumed by her study. Codsworth usually brings her something to eat or tries to tear her away from her work. He doesn’t mind seeking her out since shes always so polite.
Dinner(10:30pm)- steps out of her chair to stretch for the first time in hours only to realize she's on the verge of fainting- oops. It annoys her since she knows exactly what would constitute a perfect diet, but just can't perform it. Has a serving of dried muit fruit and something canned. Not technically a vegetarian, but she does avoid meat.
Danse(post brotherhood):
Breakfast(4:30am)- 3 boiled eggs (destroying the egg supply #3) and a ‘black’ coffee (extra extra sugar shhhh). After he goes on his morning jog and then workout, he’ll go on until basically lunch if he has nothing to do.
Lunch(12:00pm)- always joins for codsworth’s lunch, he can get a little ‘homesick’ about the BOS. and eating at the exact time every day with everyone at the same table gives him back a little bit of that routine he was so used to in the brotherhood.
dinner(7:00pm)- same goes for dinner, routine is his best friend. He also just wants to eat with his best friend, Sole. Nobody else really, well… talks to him… I laugh but it's kind of very sad.
Macready:
Breakfast(9:00am)- used to eat fresh muit fruit every morning, but for unknown reasons now muit fruit gives him the ick. Now he usually has Canned soup, tomato is his favorite.
lunch(12:00pm)- yes he's showing up for free food, but hes not close with everyone at the table so he is kinda quiet and standoffish during lunch.
dinner(7:00pm)- he’ll go if he's in the mood, but its alot of people and with Codsworth always breathing down his back about his manners, the vibe at dinner just really pisses him off. so it really depends if he's up for it. If he isn't, there is usually somebody else who didn’t go making stew or something around he can mooch off. He’ll also eat something sweet after, religiously believes in dessert.
Preston:
breakfast(8:00am)- eats breakfast with the sole survivor every day. Breakfast it's a good time to do a morning briefing. Coffee addict btw
Lunch(12:00pm)- he honestly wouldn't eat lunch if it wasn’t for codsworth. He gets so anxious and kinda spirals in his head. As the day goes on he’ll either just forget or not really have the appetite to eat. Eating with people also makes him feel much more relaxed, and he’ll have an easier time having an appetite.
dinner(7:00pm)- gets paranoid that the spread is an improper use of resources, and takes it up with codsworth at times. Codsworth defends that he gets everything himself and none of the food is ever wasted, but then Preston says something about corn beef being a more sustainable use of food and gets kicked out of dinner for being problematic (problem? Corn beef is the worst.) (piper; first time?). Everybody’s mouths were too full to disagree with codsworth.
Piper:
breakfast(5:30am)- cigarette. Wow, she's so french /j
snack(??:??)- snacks on gumdrops and lollipops constantly throughout the whole day. When she eats natural sugars she feels                   n o t h i n g
dinner(9:00pm)- she eats way later because she's always bouncing around and its hard for Piper to center herself to sit down and eat. she’d go eat what Codsworth cooks, but he usually kicks her out. It's like the fact that he gets up and arms about things at dinner makes her want to act up. Whatever, she's having blamco and some dandy boys.
Deacon:
snack(9:30am)- his diet is inconsistent and random. Hes actually already been up and down since one, the first thing he has is a handful of potato chips.
lunch??(12:00pm)- if he's up for it, he’ll show up to lunch. But, he barely eats anything. Mostly has a bit a coffee which he still doesnt finish. Dogmeat sits in front of him the whole time under the table getting pats and fed. Then he leaves before anyone is done eating.
snack(2:00pm)- finds someone else having lunch and picks off their food while they aren't looking
snack(8:00pm)- rest of the potato chips- he acquired salsa.
dinner??(10:00pm)- has a few beers and a bit of fruit. Maybe. He's probably just gonna drink. To wrap up, he’s a serial snacker.
Dogmeat
snack(5:00am)- dug up bone from dinner a few days ago.
snack(9:00am)- no bad guys, all is well. Back to the bone.
lunch(12:00pm)- will circle around the lunch table and give everyone puppy eyes. If he’s there, stays by deacon, easy gains.
dinner(7:30pm)- fed dinner leftovers or dog food by either preston or sole. dogs arn’t allowed at dinner apparently, so no shaking down his friends for food ,’(
Hancock
breakfast(2:00pm)- wakes up after lunch and immediately goes to Codsworth to ask for leftovers. If there are leftovers, hell make some weird cold leftover sandwich. If not, he's happy with canned beans.
snack(4:00pm)- Snack cake, courtesy of Danse. Well, like- STOLEN from Danse.
snack(6:30pm)- Bourbon, hey it's 5pm somewhere. Heh. what? It is 5pm?
dinner(7:00pm)- attends dinner. Great food, great company. Nowhere else he’d rather be. *gets kicked out*
snacks??(12:30am)- wanders into Danses room drunk and/or high, wakes Danse and Hancock gets caught snooping through his fancy lad stash. Danse hated that, and he won't let him live it down until he repays him back. What? He's serious about his lads, stop laughing.
Nick
breakfast(5:30am)- has a smoke with piper. Same spot every morning. Piper talks shit the whole time.
breakfast(8:00)- usually just pops in to see everyone, but if he stays, codsworth will pour him a black coffee. It doesn't do anything for him obviously, but it feels nice to just sit and have breakfast with friends
dinner(7:00pm)- I like the theory that the reason Nick’s asked by Vadim to drink his moonshine is so he can test the alkaline or ph level, or whatever it was. So he comes to dinner and has a glass of whiskey, and the sensation is almost like he can taste it. Dinner is a nice change of pace. People sitting around a table civilly enjoying good food reminds him of certain happy prewar memories with prewar nick and his family. He's content sitting there with an empty plate just enjoying the conversation.
X6-88
dinner(7:00pm)- the others call it his snake meal, it's always exactly 2000 calories (he works it out in his head) and he eats all of it in like 5 minutes. It's actually really disturbing. He shows up first for dinner. Fills his plate with food. And, like an eating competitor, stuffs it all down his throat with a straight face. Then leaves without ever saying a word. X6 says it's so he doesn't have to waste time with allocated eating, but so he’ll still get his required fuel. This is how he's always done it, no one can convince him it is bad or unhealthy because he's so sure it is more efficient.
i forgot strong oops. might do him latr soz

Headcanon for Old Longfellow, Nick Valentine, and Porter Gage?
Hi! Thank you for the requests! I've already posted stuff about Nick Valentine and Gage (along with Butch) here. However, here are some Old Longfellow. Once again, I don't know a whole lot about the Far Harbour DLC besides DiMA so please forgive me if I make any more mistakes. Have a lovely day!
This man can FISH. He's so good at it too. He can also identify any type of fish local to the region.
I guess this generally goes with being a hunter and guide, but he's also excellent at identifying edible or poisonous plants, foraging, and understanding the best times of day and year to hunt animals.
Has an insane collection of books, and often has them stacked in random piles and not on shelves. He'll also use the book stacks to store stuff or furniture.
A lot of these books are pre-war, often about the local wildlife and flora of the area. He also has hunting guides, game (as in hunted meat) cookbooks, foraging books, and history books. He also has a lot of scout guides, guns, and first-aid magazines.
Oh and maps too! Tons, from all over the U.S. too!
He also has a few brewing books, he attempted to brew some wine, beer, and whisky of his own, but it didn't turn out so well. He now mostly sticks to hunting.
He really likes bourbon, rum, and whisky. However, he'll drink whatever he can find.
His house is full of furs and skulls which he sells to travellers and locals. He'll also sew these into pillows, jackets, shoes, clothes, etc anything really.
He sometimes goes into town to teach some of the locals, especially the younger kids, basic scout and survival skills and what not to forage. He also teaches them how to tell what animals are in the area.
The kids often see him as an old and relaxed uncle. They consider him a badass.
Has done a bit of taxidermy.
