Tumblr media
A/N: Happy Valentine’s Day from me to you! Here’s a fluffy Foggy fic. Also, I listened to so many different playlists on Spotify while writing this. This roughly takes place in 1x12 of the show (divider by saradika)
Thanks to @writings-of-a-demigod and @writeroutoftime for helping out!!!!!
Summary: After finding out Matt is Daredevil, Foggy begins to question everything. He sees you and that all goes away, but what will happen when you two start talking under the New York stars?
Word Count: 2,090
Warnings: none, Matt is DD (implied), fluff (like tooth-rotting), bad writing reader has at least medium-length hair (mentioned once)
Tumblr media
With heavy steps, Foggy walks up the stairs to the office, an invisible weight on his shoulders.  ‘Was anything Matt ever told the truth? Were they ever even friends? Was anything around him real?’ Then he thought back to you. ‘If nothing else…’ he thought. ‘If nothing else, these feelings are real.’ He turned the metal knob to the office, opening the door.
Everything in and about this place reminds him of Matt. All their time together in college, the laughs they shared, the struggles they promised to get through together, certain awards and knick-knacks decorating their desks, and… you. You, asleep at the desk in the middle of the twin offices. Your hair sprawled over your shoulders, falling on the folders and pictures beneath your arms.
His features soften a bit, glad Matt isn’t here, glad to see that someone can have some peace around here. All Foggy could do was think about the betrayal he felt from Matt. ‘How could he have lied to Foggy for so long? And about something so important, and… dangerous?’ His thoughts were constantly racing since he learned Matt’s secret but as soon as he saw you, they silenced. For the past week, all Foggy could do was doubt everything.
He softly closes the door behind him, making his way over to you. He puts his hand on your arm, slightly shaking you in an attempt to wake you up. “Y/N?” He whispered, receiving no response in return. “Y/N… come on, wake up.” He saw you starting to stir in your sleep, still not waking up fully. So, he tried again. “Y/N,” he said with a direct voice, continuing to shake your arm. He saw you start to flutter your eyes open, you furrowing your eyebrows.
“Morning, sunshine.” He said with a smile forming on his face as he saw you open your eyes. You lift your head up, looking around in confusion, not remembering falling asleep. You blink your eyes a few times, wiping the little trail of drool leaving the corner of your lips. Your eyes land on Foggy, who's standing at the corner of your desk with a small smile on his face. Despite the smile on his face, Foggy looked a little tired, like you, and a lot sad.
“Hey…” You spoke in a slightly groggy voice having just woken up. “What time is it?” Foggy checks his watch as you sit straight up in your chair. “It’s just past midnight. Why didn’t you go home if you were tired?” He still stands in front of you, concern and worry clearly written on his face.
You cleared your throat, able to talk with less of a rasp now. “I stayed late… later than I thought, I guess. I was just doing some research on the Castle case. I wanted to try and help you out.” Your words trail off as you get done explaining yourself.
His features soften, glad to have someone like you in his life; he’s more glad to have you in his life. “You didn’t have to do that.” He talks barely above a whisper, whether because you just woke up, or because he's unsure of his words, you aren’t sure.
“It was no problem, really.” You say with a smile starting to dance on your lips dismissively. You stand up, starting to walk the short distance to the mini kitchen your office had. “I know it’s a little late, but do you want some coffee? I have more things I need to look through, so…” He starts to readjust his shoulder bag awkwardly while you explain yourself.
“Oh, no.” He begins. “I just came here to get a few of my things.” His voice gets quiet at the end of his sentence.
Your heart hurts a little at his words. They weren’t rude in any manner of speaking, but they still stung and made your heart drop into your stomach. Your mouth opens and closes, starting to say something then deciding against it. Instead, you decide on a half-assed smile as you meet his eyes.
“Okay, well, I’ll leave you be.”
He gives a soft but curt nod and begins to walk towards his office. “Hey, Foggy?” you interrupt his movement.
He turns around with wide eyes, "Yeah?" You think of how you want to word what you're trying to say. You come up empty, except for the words, "Are you okay?" You asked him sincerely. It was obvious that something was different with him and Matt.
"Yeah, I'm fine." The words fall out of his mouth like he's trying to convince the both of you.
Without missing a beat, you speak up. "No, you aren't, Foggy. I know you. I've known you for years. So, please don't lie to me. You don't have to spill your guts to me, just tell me if something is bothering you."
You talk with a sense of desperation, hoping your words get through to him. You watch his gaze soften, not that it was a hard look to begin with. More like the toughness he was presenting left, leaving just Foggy.
Wordlessly, you walk closer to Foggy, slowly bringing your hands up to his chest. You grab at the strap of his shoulder bag, dragging it down his arm. You hear the leather fall to the floor with a soft thump.
Ditching the idea of coffee, files, or personal items, you reach down clasping his hand in yours. He knew from the moment you walked over to him what you were doing. You were going to the roof.
Foggy loved that about you - he came to terms a while ago that he was, in fact, hopelessly in love with you - you knew what he needed even if he himself didn't know.
Hand in hand, you open the office door, closing it behind you, and go down the hallway and up the stairs to the door that says 'roof access.'
This wasn't new to either of you. The pair always went onto the roof when something was wrong, or when the world felt like it was caving in on you. So you did what you always do.
You two walked out, hearing a loud metal clang of the door behind you. You found a spot and Foggy, ever the gentleman, takes off his jacket to lay down on the ground for you.
You lay next to Foggy, his thick jacket protecting you from feeling the rough asphalt below you. Arms crossed over your stomach, you silently stare up at the New York stars, tracing invisible constellations in your mind.
A few minutes of comfortable silence pass between you two as you enjoy the peace of mind this environment brings you. The starlight on your faces, the sounds of the city surrounding you, the tiny rocks faintly digging into your back, not as bad as it could be thanks to Foggy's suit jacket under you.
"It's Matt," Foggy breaks the silence, barely speaking loud enough for you to hear him. You turn your head a little, looking over at him from the corner of your eyes. You see he’s still looking straight up at the sky, not ready to look at you. “I can’t get into it, but…” He shrugs, struggling to find the words. “I just- I know that things aren’t going to be the same.” He’s practically whispering now, like he’s worried you’ll run away if he speaks too loud.
You turn your head more to look at him fully with your ear now on the ground. There aren’t any words exchanged for a beat. “Well, whenever you can talk about it, you know where I’ll be.” He moves his head, now facing you. He nods gently, glad the two of you have an unspoken agreement about the roof and its sacredness.
He stares at you, looking into your eyes. Foggy looks at you with such intensity, you’d think he was trying to figure out all of your secrets. But this is normal. He always looks at you like this. Like every moment was a gift from God that he treasured.
Not that you knew that’s why he looked at you that intensely.
No, you two were just good friends. You had been best friends with Foggy since he and Matt started at Landman and Zach. You get along with Matt just fine but you’ve always been closer to Foggy.
As you return the stare in his eyes, you see his eyes move. From your eyes to your lips, to your nose and hair. There’s a foreign tension in the air. Usually, the air between you two is light and carefree, but now it’s heavy. It sits like a blanket over you. The silence is thick and almost tangible until Foggy breaks the silence.
“I love you.” He speaks, the first time anyone has spoken in a while. A hint of sincerity drips from his words, going unnoticed by you.
“I love you too,” you respond, smiling. This wasn’t the first time you two had said this. You didn’t say it all the time, but often enough. You both loved each other. He knows everything about you and you know everything about him.
He immediately starts shaking his head. He leans up, turning around to continue looking at you. He sits with his palms against the gravel, fingers splayed apart, neck turned almost painfully back at you. You follow his actions, sitting up and still looking at him with furrowed brows.
“No, I love you. I think about you all the time. I think about how your eyes glow when you hear your favorite song. I think about how you remember some random person's birthday but don’t remember to drink water. I think about the way you hunch over the table when we play a board game. I love you. I love everything about you.”
Your mouth hangs barely open in shock. Your mind blanks for a second, a minute, or maybe an hour. You aren't entirely sure. His voice brings you out of whatever trance you're in. "And I just ruined our friendship because you don't feel the same." He's barely able to finish the sentence before you start talking.
"No, no, no, no, no," you rush out. "It's not that, Foggy. I just... it took me by surprise." You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding in. "I think about you too." You begin speaking after a moment of thick silence. "I think about how you run your hands through your hair when you're nervous, how you belt out sea shanties when you think you're alone, how you have different dorky ringtones for just about everyone... I love you too, Foggy. " Your cheeks now tinted with a slightly rosy tint, you look at him, really look at him, and smile.
“I do not!- how did you know about the sea shanties?” His tone begins as defensive but then shifts to curious. A smile grows on your face, taking up half of it from how big you’re smiling. You begin to laugh, and he joins in but still skeptical about how you knew what he thought was a secret only he knew.
“Let’s just say a drunk Matt is very willing to talk about you.” You say with a shit-eating grin now on your face. The two of you sit in that moment, Foggy thinking about what other secrets Matt may have told you, and you smiling nervously, waiting for him to acknowledge your reciprocated feelings.
He must sense your growing nerves, as he ignores the thoughts of all the embarrassing things he’s done in front of Matt and focuses back on you. You, with the shining eyes and bright smile.
“Anyways,” he begins, shaking his head, “would you… would you wanna go out sometime? Like, on a date… with me? I know this new Thai place that opened up on 42nd and 9th. If not, that’s-”
You continue to smile, putting your hand over his, making him stop his rambling. “Foggy, I’d love to. How’s Saturday? Say, 6 o’clock?”
He starts nodding his head, smiling even brighter than you are.
“That’s great. I’ll pick you up then.”
“Great, it’s a date.”
You two look at each other, a sense of what can only be described as longing in both pairs of eyes. Longing for more but knowing you have to wait, at least just a little while.
‘Thank whatever God is up there,’ Foggy thinks. ‘Thank God this is real.’

Candlelight Candor
A/N: This is the first public one shot I've written in a very long time so bear with me as I find my footing again.
Type: just sweet and simple fluff; Foggy Nelson x reader
Length: 4.8k~ | 20 min
Warnings: cursing; minor suggestive thoughts; fem!reader
Feel free to message me if a necessary warning isn't mentioned.
Summary: the worst storm of the decade, an unreliable old building, and being alone with your crush, Foggy Nelson
Tumblr media
Hell hath no fury like a New York Nor’easter. It didn’t matter whether you had grown accustomed to the brutal winters in the city that never sleeps, because each summer lulled you into a false sense of serenity before winter struck again, the sky darkened, and ten inches of snow were threatening to bury the streets.
Any sane person would be hunkered down in their home, buried under an appropriate amount of blankets, and soundly sleeping away the precious hours gifted by the closing of the workplace.
Any sane person not in love, that is.
When you got the call that Karen was trapped north of the city, as the town she was investigating was hit with the storm first, you were tempted to hang up and go back to sleep. But how could you say no to:
“Good morning, sunshine!”
It took an embarrassingly small amount of convincing for Foggy Nelson to coax you from your haven and come to his law firm to lend an extra hand in the last day leading up to a case. The enigmatic lawyer had you wrapped around his finger and he didn’t even know it.
As you tugged on your heavy duty winter coat and forced your triple socked feet into your boots, you dearly wanted to curse the man for taking advantage of your infatuation. Of course, in his mind, he thought you were just a dedicated friend, and while that may be true, it would be more honest to say you were at his beck and call because you were in love with him.
Consequently, you find yourself hunched over a small desk in a small law firm with poor heating, hoping the feeling in your fingers returns.
And that was before the lights went out.
Precarious flames flicker among documents scattered across whatever surface area could be spared. Careful of the two candles flanking your papers - one cinnamon spice and another the supposed ‘scent of rain’ - you hunch lower and squint, trying to make connections between the paragraphs of legal precedents and other such jargon in the wavering light.
You don’t know how much longer you can strain your neck, scrounging every line of text for a loophole or mistype that will get this case thrown out. The ache in your neck grows insistent until you are forced to lift your head and roll your shoulders to appease the pain for a moment. Your eyes, sore from reading in dim light, fall on the lawyer across from you, taking in the welcome sight of him compared to dull printed texts.
Albeit, Foggy sits across from you in a similar position, muttering from down-turned lips as frustration pinches his expression. Occasionally, he heaves a sigh or grunt through clenched teeth as he hits another dead end. Even still, you allow yourself a small smile at how the orange flames cast warmth on his blond locks, causing them to shimmer like spun gold between the shadows.
A prick of alertness wakes you from your dreamy gaze and casting your eyes around you for the sixth sense of being watched, you find the other partner of the firm, Matt Murdock, smiling in your direction as if he could see you.
Your smile falls immediately, though the endeavor is fruitless as your remaining blush gives you away. Despite not having vision, you knew Matt caught you making heart eyes again at your ‘strictly professional legal friend’. It wasn’t the first time Matt sent you an impish smirk or raised his brows in question at your obvious pining. Especially when you laughed too loudly at Foggy’s quips. But what about it? You liked a sense of humor in a man and Foggy Nelson was a comedian in your enamored eyes.
The maddening thing was Matt doesn’t even pause his reading, skirting over lines of Braille with the same urgency as Foggy muttering out paragraphs of legalities.
You roll your eyes and Matt’s grin widens, but you choose to ignore him, checking your wrist watch for the time.
Your glance never makes it to your wrist, but diverges instead to the window when a sudden bang knocks the glass within it’s frame. The forceful wind rattles the glass with vengeance until it settles into an ominous vibrato. It wasn’t the first time that hour, but the three of you jump in your seats all the same.
“For Pete’s sake, this case better be able to fix that goddamn window.” Foggy curses, rubbing a palm over his heart from the abrupt break in silence.
“We have to win the case in the first place.” You lament, heaving a sigh to regain a normal heart rate.
“We have less than an hour to find a reasonable cause to dismiss this case. But I’m pretty sure I’m reading algebra right now for all the good these candles are doing.”    Foggy groans, tussling his hair into a visible display of his perturbation. Your eyes follow the motion, happy to see something other than poorly lit paper stimulate your vision, though you sympathize with his annoyance.
“Justice never sleeps.” You quip and Foggy matches your wry smile.
“Of course the courthouse is open.” Foggy continues, flipping over another page. “Hell has frozen over but did the courthouse care? Did they reschedule? Of course not! Why indulge the safety of their tax-paying citizens when they could freeze them to death instead?”
“Whoa there, Foggy, is that the hangover talking or just you?” Matt teases, his fingers hesitating over some lines as conversation picks up.
“If anyone is hungover it’s you and your stupid smile that somehow thinks it’s appropriate to make an appearance right now.”
“I’m not the one who suggested shots last night.”
“I’m not the one who drank them all.”
“Hey, I’ve been quiet and well-behaved this entire time.”
“Guys…twenty minutes…” You interrupt, your own sense of justice dwindling by the hour.
You were more than accustomed to the bickering between the two law firm partners. Despite not being a lawyer yourself, your paralegal abilities were usually called into action since being acquainted with Nelson and Murdock over a previous case. You didn’t even work for them, yet you found yourself here more often than your own office. You also found yourself playing referee alongside legal assistance. At this point, you had helped Foggy and Matt win so many cases and stay friends while doing so, that you were an honorary member of the firm.
Foggy flips a page before him, chin resting on his fist. “I say we call the courthouse and tell them we were trapped inside. Couldn’t open the front door cause of all the…”
He squints.
His eyes go wide.
“Fuck! I found the damned thing!”
A groan of relief resounds from Matt and he throws himself back into his swivel chair, spinning to the side slightly. You break into a smile, watching the candlelight twinkle in Foggy’s eyes with his newfound ecstasy.
“Will it help win the case?” You ask, voice soft if only because of your overwhelming affection.
“This piece of evidence - or should I say lack thereof, will get this case thrown out into the nearest dumpster!” Foggy exclaims, meeting your eyes with his own mirth. Your smile grows larger at this revelation.
Matt tilts his head and once more you feel that devil grin, but you refuse to meet his invisible gaze. However, your up-tick in heart rate betrays your fear of a much bigger revelation being exposed by the brunet lawyer.
Matt seems to spare you from your fears, speaking instead of the case at hand.
“Foggy, I don’t know what we’d do without you. I don’t know how I missed such an obvious detail right in front of me.”
As he stands up, Matt compiles his own version of documents into his briefcase.
“What an oversight on my part.”
He grins expectantly.
You throw your head back and groan, then lift your head in order to glare at Matt.
“That’s the last one, Murdock! You’ve hit your ‘blind’ joke quota for today.”
Matt pouts, jerking on his winter pea coat.
“It’s my law firm, I can make as many jokes as I want. Who am I offending?”
“It’s our law firm, buddy.” Foggy comes to your defense. “And your jokes are in poor taste only because they’re not funny.”
“Hey,” Matt lifts the strap over his shoulder and slides out from behind his desk. “I’m funny.”
“Funny-looking.” You tease. Foggy snorts and points the tip of his pen at you in approval. You bite your lip to keep your grin from spreading into ‘infatuated’ lengths.
“Now, I can’t help that,” Matt gestures to the glasses in his hand before slipping them onto his nose, “given, you know, that I’m-“
“No more!” You point your finger at Matt in warning.
“Alright, jeez. Tough crowd.” Matt grins, still clearly proud of his sense of corny humor.
Before he makes his way to the door, he turns partway to explain his departure.
“I’ll head out first to meet the client early. It’s gonna be hell catching a cab in this storm. Plus the traffic will be worse…you get it.” Matt sighs and snatches his cane from where it rests beside the entryway. He lifts it as a form of dismissal.
“Good idea. I’ll revise our argument first then head over. It shouldn’t take more than a few quick amendments.” Foggy says.
Matt nods and turns to leave.
You turn back to clean up your work, but your head snaps up when you hear Matt fall against the door.
“Are you okay?” You blurt as Matt pushes himself upright on the door.
“I misjudged the space between myself and the door.” He chuckles. “Can’t see anything with the lights out.”
“Leave.”
You turn your back on Matt and his snickering.
“I don’t know how you put up with him.” You say once he’s gone and Foggy rolls his eyes in similar exasperation.
“I’ve learned to stop questioning my life choices when it comes to Matt.”
You laugh, humming in agreement. You lift your gaze to hand Foggy the collected papers across the desk and find his eyes already on you.
Before you can contemplate why his eyes take their time traveling down your face to your outstretched hand, the his easy smile lowers into contemplation once he accepts the papers. He licks his lips and begins scribbling down notes with fervor. Now that the essential information has been found, you’re left with nothing else to do but leave it in the capable hands of the brilliant lawyer before you.
Before you realize it, you’re in a candlelight-induced trance, watching Foggy’s eagle sharp gaze flit back and forth. A small, petty part of you wishes his eyes held the same concentration on you instead of the paperwork. You knew from experience how nice it was to have Foggy’s attention on you.
Meeting Foggy Nelson was like the sun breaking through the clouds after a rainstorm. He had come into your life with undeniable presence and charm, which mostly stemmed from how Foggy was unapologetically himself in all contexts. He didn’t put on the airs of the egotistical disposition that many lawyers were known to have.
That’s not to say he didn’t speak up whenever he found himself in an immoral situation,  but more often than not, Foggy reserved his speeches for retelling the repertoire of stories he loved to share with those who spared him an ear. You, always a listener at heart, and therefore his dedicated audience, were usually in hysterics by the end of his theatrics.
Foggy never just told a story. No, he incorporated gestures, voices and facial expressions that brought the characters - real or not - to life. Karen and Matt had heard every story ten times over, but being the newest addition to the friend group, you took in every detail as if there was going to be an exam.
It was his larger-than-life personality that drew you in, but it was his quiet observations that captivated you. Foggy never used his social prowess to embarrass others - Karen and Matt excluded - only ever making himself the butt of jokes. If he teased you, it was only to tease you out of your shell. His questions were genuine and his gaze, reading your body language and expressions, hung on to every answer you offered him.
The first real conversation you had with him, he asked you about your background.
“So what gods - sorry, Matt, God - above orchestrated for you to be doomed with us as friends?” He asked, curiosity making his sincerity clear.
You told him your abridged life story - including the small role you felt you played, despite it being your own life. Foggy’s smile had waned into a wrinkled line and when you finished he looked at you as if you had just admitted to being from another planet.
“You are the sweetest person I know, with a beautiful heart, and I don’t think you know it. But the rest of us sure do.” His eyes sought yours long enough to ensure you believed his sincerity, then he quickly moved on to throw a jibe at Matt,, and the conversation returned it’s levity. You, however, were left reeling from his compliment.
And absolutely in love.
Doomed, more like. You muse, halting the trip down memory lane before you fell down the well-trodden path of self-doubt and hatred. You have been around long enough to hear stories of the women Foggy had dated, slept with, or fantasized about being with. You didn’t think you made the cut. You had no reason to. Foggy was an extraordinary friend but that didn’t qualify you to wish he did more than friendly things to you.
You focus back in where your eyes had taken the opportunity to stare at Foggy fingering the edges of documents while twirling a pen in his other hand. He settles the pen between his soft, pink lips, tapping it before he bites the cap, completed focused on the phrasing of his task.
A hair falls between his eyes, causing him to wrinkle his nose into an unbearably cute expression.
You send the chair stumbling backwards when you stand, and that focused gaze flies to you.
“I…um..I am…What time is it? I think we should start to head over.” You attempt to clarify.
Foggy removes the writing utensil from his teeth as his eyes analyze your abrupt movement. You feel exposed the longer he stares and start to grow nervous he somehow could hear your wayward thoughts about the dexterity of his fingers.
Yeah…good call.” Foggy clears his throat. He stands up to gather his things and you step forward to help him.
Handing him a file, his fingers brush the back of your knuckles and your eyes flutter in response.
Cheeks warm despite the cold, you turn from Foggy and set about blowing out all the candles until you’re both left in the dark.
You walk to the door and rest your hand on the doorknob. Turning your wrist, you pull the doorknob out the socket.
Wait.
What?
You glance down at your hand.
“What the hell?” A sense of dread fills you.
“What’s wrong?” Foggy asks, immediately reacting to your alarmed tone.
When you don’t respond, he navigates his way around the desk and chairs in the dark to come to your aid.
You turn back to the door and stare at the vacant hole with consternation until you feel Foggy’s chest brush your left shoulder.
“What happened?”
The weight of the doorknob feels condemning in your palm. Foggy leans down, squinting through the dark. His cheek is inches from yours, his height enshrouding you as he peers at your hands, and any other time your heart would be beating out of your chest.
Well, it was, but for the wrong reason.
“Oh.” He says. “Shit.”
“I have no idea!” You insist before he can even turn his grave expression on you and ask. “I guess the other side of it came loose and just fell off.”
“Well. That’s just fantastic.” Foggy hooks his index in the hole and tugs hard. The door jiggles with his attempts but holds fast.
“So we’re locked in our own office?” you conclude.
Foggy growls in frustration. He stalks back over to the desk, muttering curses to himself.
“Perfect. Just perfect. Of course…worst day of my life…”
Foggy pats his waist down, pulls out his phone, and then hits the first speed dial button.
“Hey, Matt.” He says sharply. “…Yeah, the fucking handle fell off the door.”
Morose, you glance down at the knob still in your palm.
“No, I don’t- Y/N turned the knob and it just fell off!….Yeah, I already did that.”
Foggy sighs, hums in affirmation before his shoulders drop.
“You sure? Yeah…ugh…fine yeah, okay.”
Matt must have asked for the new evidence Foggy was supposed to bring, you assume, as Foggy proceeds to explain the needed information and confirm Matt understood it all.
“Good luck, buddy. Don’t lose.”
Foggy hangs up, ceasing his pacing. His hand runs through his now tangled locks then drops to his waist. He looks at you with resignation.
“Matt says he can handle the case by himself. It’s not a full blown hearing so…he’ll come back as soon as he can. The case has already started so he doesn’t have time to run back here.”
“Oh.” The prickling sensation of tears burns behind your eyes. The last thing you want is to ever be the cause of Foggy’s stress. Hell, you spend most of your time trying to be as valuable to him as possible.
Foggy searches around him until he finds matches. He lights the nearest candle and then sits down behind his desk.
He frowns once he sees you haven’t moved from your tense stance near the entrance.
“Hey.”
Your eyes flit to his face and find Foggy smiling at you with his recognizable optimism. The kind of smile that feels like he’s sharing a secret joke with you. He drags your previous chair around the desk, beside his.
“C’mere and sit back down. We have at least three hours before Matt returns.”
You hum in assent, still clutching the doorknob as you make your way over.
Coming around the desk, Foggy’s hand darts out, shielding your hip from the sharp corner when you almost don’t clear it.
You jump at his fingers against your waist. Foggy jerks back just as quickly, his grimace apparent.
“Sorry! I didn’t want you to run into it. That corner in particular bruises like a bitch.”
You laugh, hoping the airy chuckle doesn’t betray how his fingertips ignited a reaction far from displeased within you.
“I appreciate it. And I assume you’re speaking from experience?” You sit down. Your knee brushes his, tingling with proximity. You’ve never had a reason to sit so close to Foggy before, even in the booths at bars, and without the light, you sense more than see his presence within your personal space.
Foggy snorts. “Yeah, of course. Matt does it all the time.”
“Oh, so you have practice holding his waist too?” You don’t know where this brazen energy arises from, but you blame it on the intimacy of being secluded in the office with Foggy and your only light source being a small flame that smells of cinnamon.
Foggy’s lips split before curving into a smirk. He narrows his eyes.
“Are you accusing me of making a grab at you?”
You shake your head frantically.    “No! Sorry, that was stupid. I-“
Foggy laughs, waving your apology away.
“I would hope you think more highly of me to at least buy you dinner first.” He reasons, pursing his mouth into an easy smile.
You bite your lip, eyes widening at the suggestion. Was he serious? Or were you letting your feelings cloud an obvious joke?
“Of course I think highly of you, Foggy.” You say, settling into the chair. You set the doorknob on the desk. Your brow furrows as it reminds you of how Foggy was trapped here with you instead of at the courthouse winning the case he’s worked so hard on.
“Y/n?”
“Hm?”
“Seriously, don’t feel bad about the door. This whole shitty place is falling apart.” Foggy gestures vaguely around him. Foggy must have mistaken your silence as guilt. He’s correct in assuming so, but why did he have to read you so damn well?
“No, I know…I just feel bad for you because you deserve to be in that courtroom.”
“Ah, don’t sweat it. Matt’s got it handled. I’m sure they prefer the handsome lawyer down there anyways. Case will go in our favor that way.” He chuckles.
“Handsome?” You frown, not getting the punchline.
His eyes flicker over your face as if to gage how serious you are being.
Foggy shrugs. “Out of the two of us, Matt’s the better lawyer, both in the legal department and looks department.” His half-hearted laugh fails to win you over.
“That isn’t- that’s not true.” You stumble over your words, because it would be foolish to deny the attention the brunet lawyer garners on a consistent basis. However, you weren’t about to accept Matt’s good looks at the cost of denying Foggy’s attractive features either.
Foggy snorts. He shakes his head, hair brushing his shoulders as he does so and you’re overcome with an intense need to make him realize just how important he is to everyone. To you.
“Foggy, you’re incredible to watch in action.”
Foggy’s frown is near comical with his exaggerated pout. You lean in, determined to convince him.
“Foggy, you’re a hell of a good lawyer, too. If Matt is so talented then he wouldn’t partner with someone who wasn’t on his level. The two of you have your own firm. Matt’s not your boss. He’s your equal. That goes for the ‘looks’ department as well. You’re an attractive, generous, compassionate lawyer and it’s a privilege to work with you.”
Foggy’s expression is unreadable as he listens to you rant. His eyes search your face, flitting back and forth with thoughts known only to him. His brow falters slightly and you fear he’s uncomfortable with your impromptu speech.
But eventually, that full mouth of his turns upwards.
Unfortunately, the smile he wears accompanies a glimmer in his eye that makes you lean back into your own chair.
Foggy follows you, invading your breathing space with the heady scent of his aftershave and a hint of shampoo akin to vanilla.
“What other traits do I possess?”
All at once you realize how revealing your compliments are. Blooming crimson, you attempt a verbal retreat that Foggy has no intention of allowing.
“Oh, um…I didn’t-I just mean…”
“C’mon, tell me! Attorney client privilege.” Foggy winks, his grin upheld and only growing bolder as he rests his cheek on his fist, full attention on you now.
Well, you did wish for that.
“Technically, to be your client I would need to pay you first.” You throw out, if only to prolong the inevitable corner of confession he was backing you into.
“Aha! So you do learn a thing or two around this office. I’ll only charge you five bucks.” Foggy retorts easily enough.
“I don’t have money on me, but since you’ve been known to accept fruit baskets, would you accept other forms of payment?”
“What do you have in mind?” Foggy’s grin is downright devious.
Your eyes widen as you effectively have backed yourself into the corner you were trying to avoid.
A nervous laugh bubbles from your racing heart as you shake your head, waving your hand too for good measure.
“Nothing! I’m kidding, Foggy.”
“Blood money? Was it blood money?”
“No?…No, it was a stupid joke.”
“Tell me.” Foggy sits up, his demeanor becoming serious.
“Please?” He whispers.
You chew on your lower lip, trying to swallow down the thundering of your heart as silence permeates the dimly lit atmosphere between you two.
Maybe it’s the influence of the warm fire painting Foggy’s gaze in such a soft, accepting light, as if he already knows what you’re thinking - or is even feeling it too. Maybe it’s the months of holding back the truth from someone you would tell anything to in a heartbeat. Maybe it’s the hope that ultimately outweighs the anxiety that causes you to admit it.
No longer do the candles, blizzard, or darkness feel like a hindrance. Now they feel intimate, cozy, and warm.
Romantic.
“I was gonna say…something super corny like, “just my undying affection.” You feel like an idiot, grimacing with the confession.
Your eyes dare to check Foggy’s expression, knowing he’s probably gonna reel back in aversion.
Instead, Foggy scoffs, shaking his head slightly. “You’re affection? Jeez, now that’s nowhere near corny.” He purses his lips and his hair brushes his cheek as he shakes his head.
“Earning your attention, let alone your affection - damn, I would win a hundred cases for you, guaranteed!”
You want to blame the playful words as an excuse to ignore the sincerity in his tone, but your body reacts before you can, heart leaping with a thrill of joy and your lips begging for more.
“Guaranteed?”
“Nothing drives a man like his unwavering passion for the woman he adores.”
You must look crazed, in the throes of shock as your brain tries to process the meaning behind his words. Foggy adores you? Really?
Your mouth continues to take the lead.
“You mean that?”
Foggy lifts his hand in the distance between you, which is scarce, and hesitates a second before placing his warm hand atop both your hands picking at each other’s fingertips. The weight of his palm and the comfort of his grip squeezes your fretting hands still. You release a soft exhale.
“Y/n, I’ve never been more serious.    I’ve adored every detail of yours since you graced my office.”
You don’t know what to say, so you nod.
You keep nodding until it dawns that your feelings are reciprocated, perhaps more than you dared hope for.
And then you’re smiling, beaming, and still nodding, as Foggy brings the hand up from your grasp and cups your cheek, smoothing his thumb over in a silent hello before he presses his lips to your mouth.
You press in, feeling him wholly as mint overwhelms your senses. Your lips move with his, chin lifting as you chase his mouth and he meets you once more, applying pressure before he withdraws, and releases your bottom lip from his teeth.
You can’t see much in the dark anyways, but right now you can’t see a thing. Only spots that accompany the ringing in your ears. You might be light-headed too.
Your dazed silence breaks when Foggy’s whisper begins to escalate.
“Before I have a heart attack…tell me I didn’t screw this up. If I read it wrong and you were just joking-“
“No, no! It’s just…I can’t believe you like me back.” Your laugh is a soft exhale before a sharp intake of breath.
“This isn’t some ‘lights go out and we’re vulnerable in the dark confession.” Foggy says as he cups your face once more.
“I mean every word I say in the dark.” He kisses you again and you welcome his eager affection before he pulls back. You open your eyes just in time for the lights flicker on with a stumbling hum as the building regains power.
“And the light.” Foggy tacks on to his previous statement.
You snort, biting your lip in vain to stop your giddy smile.
“That was pretty fucking cool timing if you ask me.” He says, the same elated grin on his flushed visage.
“That was, I’ll admit.” You laugh. You run your tongue across your lips, savoring the taste of his kiss.
“I wish someone could have witnessed it.” Foggy continues to rave, basking in your growing smile of amusement.
“I did.”
Matt stands in the doorway with a wicked grin.
“Missing something?” He asks. Your eyes flit down to his hand.
The other side of the doorknob.
Matt waltzes over to the desk, grabs the doorknob, then returns to the entry and slides it back into place.
Your frown deepens when he unpockets a screw. Within ten seconds the door is fixed with a good rattle to test it out.
“Lucky thing the case got canceled. You guys would have been stuck in this room all night.” Matt says, passing you both on his way to his office. Presumably to start the next caseload.
Foggy breaks first, swiveling in his chair to jab a finger at Matt’s retreating back.
“You bastard!”
Matt spins around once he’s behind the door of his office. He gives ample time to leave his smirk on display as he closes the door in a slow, dramatic fashion until it clicks with finality.
And with it, a realization of his strange behavior today.
You gasp.
Matt never left the building.

You know your services are going to be needed as soon as you hear the door to the apartment get thrown open. Foggy’s bag hits the floor of the entryway with a distinct thud, and two pairs of dress shoe clad feet move across the hardwood and towards the kitchen.
“Get out here, sweetheart!” Matt calls, voice a note lower than usual, gruff and impatient. You’re up off the bed in an instant, novel forgotten, and make your way into the living room to see the man yanking his tie loose from his collar. His jaw is set, his temple pulsing. You know you’re in for a fun night.

You’re up off the bed in an instant, novel forgotten, and make your way into the living room to see the man yanking his tie loose from his collar. His jaw is set, his temple pulsing. You know you’re in for a fun night.
As soon as you’re close enough Foggy’s grabbing you by your waist and pulling you in for a deep, heavy kiss. There’s no slow start like there usually is with him- he’s all heat and fervor, and you can taste his frustration seeping into your tongue.
As soon as you’re close enough Foggy’s grabbing you by your waist and pulling you in for a deep, heavy kiss. There’s no slow start like there usually is with him- he’s all heat and fervor, and you can taste his frustration seeping into your tongue.
“God, I missed you,” he groans into your mouth, hands running up your sides, groping at your flesh. All you can do is pant, breathless from the kiss.
You can hear the buckle of Matt’s belt clicking as he undoes it and frees the leather from its loops. After another brief kiss, Foggy pulls away.
“On your knees.” It’s Matt who orders it while his hands swiftly free his half-hard member. Feeling bold, you instead lean up for a kiss from him, but your tongue doesn’t even make it inside his mouth before he’s wrapping a hand around the column of your throat and pulling you away from him.
“I said get on your knees.” He growls. His tone of voice tells you exactly how little patience he has tonight. You bite your lip, whining softly at being denied a kiss, but offer him a useless nod regardless before sinking to your knees.
“That’s better.” As praise goes it isn’t much, but it’s still enough to make your cunt pulse. He taps the head of his cock against your lips in a nonverbal demand for entry, and you let them slacken, your tongue rolling out like a red carpet.
He’s pushing into your mouth right away, allowing you to close your lips around his tip and suckle. You draw a low groan out of him with your ministrations.
It doesn’t take long before one of his hands finds the back of your head and he pushes you down, his length sliding down your throat until it forces you to gag. He holds you there, his head thrown back, brows cinched in pleasure, just enjoying the feeling of your restricting muscle. After another gag salty tears are spilling over your waterline, and you can tell he smells them by the way his cock twitches.
His other hand comes down then to grip the sides of your head, and he starts to pull you up and down on his cock, hips snapping forwards to meet you. He fucks your throat like you’re a cock sleeve, ignoring the way you choke and whine, purely chasing his own pleasure.
“Come on, Matt.” Foggy says after a while, drawing your attention back to him. You can just make out the blurry image of him, cock now in hand, through your tears. “You don’t get to have all the fun with her.”
Matt pulls out, his cock making a lewd sound as it slips free from your throat, and he guides you up to your feet with a scalp-stinging pull to your hair.
“Go on, get on the sofa. Hands and knees.” He’s not usually so blunt, but nonetheless you scramble to comply. You position yourself so your head faces the armrest, and Foggy walks around to your front while Matt makes his way behind you.
Matt runs a hand down over the crest of your ass to the small of your back, feeling the curvature of your spine. He clicks his tongue before grabbing your hips in a firm grip and lifting, angling you in a deeper arch. “Up, sweetheart. Give Foggy a nice view.”
“Thanks, buddy.” Foggy’s smirking, one hand massaging at the back of your head while the other reaches across you to give your ass a smack. “You’re always looking out for me.”
He looks down at you, and his gaze softens. “You’re so pretty like this, angel.”
You open your mouth to thank him, but at that moment Matt runs two thick fingers up your slit then plunges them into your pussy, and all that comes out is a stuttered gasp.
“You got this wet from my cock in your throat?” Matt taunts, thrusting his fingers at a steady, already unforgiving pace. You whimper out a shaky “mhm,” and in front of you, Foggy grins.
“That shouldn’t be a big surprise, Matt. You know she’s desperate for it, it doesn’t matter how you give it to her.” He angles his own cock downwards, towards your panting lips. “Isn’t that right, baby?”
“Yes,” you gasp out before encircling the tip of his cock with your lips, sucking needily and moaning at the taste of the salty precum on his tip. Foggy throws his head back, muttering a curse under his breath.
Matt’s fingers leave you, delivering a quick smack to your clit that has you yelping around Foggy’s girth. Then his thick cock is pushing inside you swiftly, and he immediately starts up a punishing pace.
You can feel the man’s frustration coming out in his hard, deep thrusts- your ass slaps loudly against his skin every time he yanks you back to meet him, and his fingertips mark bruises into your hips.
Foggy starts thrusting shallowly into your mouth, just barely grazing the back of your throat. His hands come out to hold firmly at the side of your head, and his brows are furrowed with the same pent-up energy that Matt has.
“Goddamn, I needed this.” Foggy grits out, looking down at your wet-eyed face with an overt hunger. He pushes forward deeper, holding you in place as you gag around his length. Behind you, Matt groans lowly at the way the action has you clenching around him.
“I think she did too. Didn’t you, sweetheart?” Matt reaches over you and grabs a fistful of your hair, pulling you off of Foggy’s dick and up so your back is pressed to his chest. “You were certainly ready for us when we got here.”
“A-always ready for you,” you moan out, the stinging pressure his firm grip causes on your scalp only adding to your pleasure. Foggy steps up onto the couch in front of you, stroking his cock rapidly and reaching down to grope at your breasts. “‘M always ready for you to use.”
“That’s a good fucking girl.” Matt growls in your ear, one hand moving from your hip to stroke your clit while the other travels from your hair to curl around the column of your neck. The added stimulation has your toes curling. “You like being our little toy, don’t you?”
“Yes, Matt.” Your walls are starting to flutter, the coil of arousal tightening in your stomach. Matt’s breathing is growing more ragged, growled sounds escaping with every exhale.
“Open your mouth, baby. Show me your tongue.” Foggy orders above you. Your mouth falls open obediently, and his follows soon after, letting out a groan at the sight.
Matt gives one final, deep thrust inside you, and you moan as warmth fills you, his release filling up your cunt. His hand tightens around your throat deliciously and his fingers never stop their swift circles on your clit. He manages to pull you over the edge right behind him.
Mere moments later Foggy moans, and thick ribbons of cum shoot from his cock, painting your tongue, chin and breasts. You keep your eyes trained on him, watching the way his chest heaves and his eyes squeeze shut in pleasure while you ride out the last waves of your own orgasm.
Matt has relaxed behind you, his hand resting lightly on your hip, the other trailing down to rub a rope of Foggy’s cum into the soft skin of your breast.
“How pretty does she look like this? Covered in cum?” Matt murmurs to Foggy. The blond looks down, a satisfied smile on his face.
“She looks absolutely incredible. Like a true fuck doll.” You feel your cheeks warming at his comment, and behind you, Matt hums.
“Good.”

VALENTINES DAY WITH THE DAREDEVIL CREW <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Finally. The one day everyone could get a fucking break
• The firm didn't have any cases scheduled that day, and the city had been relatively peaceful for the past few weeks, so the gang at Nelson and Murdock took great comfort in being able to take a day off for some celebrating
• Josies bar was obviously the end game—as it always tended to be. With Foggy tugging you alongside him as he smiled goofily, Matt and Karen tagging along after the two of you, equally as excited about this day off
• "Come on, I want to show you this new drink me and Matt came up with the other night (Y/n). It tastes like someone squeezed a bunch of cherries into juice and shot it with electricity!!"
• "That doesn't even make sense Foggy. I can't fucking wait to try it."
• "Hell yeah!"
• Basically valentines day just ended up with Matt babysitting you and Foggy (and eventually Karen, after she had her fourth drink) while laughing
• "No. Hey—no. Foggy get off the counter. Sit down. I said sit down. I might be blind but I can hear (Y/n) chanting your name, so I know you're up on that counter again."
• Eventually all of you got cut off and kicked out, stumbling onto the now darkened street outside laughing wildly
• On the walk back to your respective apartments, you all took pleasure in belting out and butchering songs you had all heard on the radio that past week—a few pedestrians tossing you dirty looks at your loud volume
• Despite everyone, save Matt, waking up the next morning with splitting headaches, it had been one of the best valentines days any of you had ever had

what it would be like to date foggy nelson-
- you get to hear the butcher story over and over again.
- he's really touchy. all the time. but it somehow gets even worse when he's drunk. you might lose sight of him for a second and the next you'll see him making his way towards you, arms wide open with a beer bottle in hand, ready to give you a big bear hug and a thousand kisses on the cheek
- when he's with other people, he literally won't shut up about you. he'll find a way to mention you in every single conversation. "oh this reminds me of when they ____" "did you know that they ___ ?" karen notices how his eyes sparkle and he starts playing with his hands, and of course matt notices how his heartbeat speeds up when he talks about you.
- cuddling with foggy is the best obviously. he'll bring snacks and blankets and y'all will curl up in bed together and watch your favorite movies. he's big spoon of course.
- foggy is a good cook. when you go grocery shopping he'll get ideas for for recipes he wants to try out. he'll test them on you and, no surprise, the food is always delicious.
- he's really your best friend too. he's always making jokes and making fun of you (lovingly of course) he cares so much for you and wants what's best for you.

After seeing Foggy at Josie’s you felt that it was time to work on moving on. You weren’t completely over him, or even slightly over him if you were being honest with yourself. However, you felt that being more sociable and stopping your attempts to numb the pain of the absence would help. You hung out with Matt and Karen more, mostly at your apartment but you were more willing to go to Josie’s with them than you had been as well.
You still hadn’t reached out to Foggy, having seen him with whoever he was with at Josie’s had hurt and you didn’t feel that reaching out would help. About a week after seeing him at the bar, he tried to reach out to you. You ignored his calls and texts, not wanting to talk to him. One of the times he called, you were with Matt at your apartment and he heard the specific ringtone you had set for Foggy when you first met, not bothering to change it when you broke up. “You know he misses you right?” Matt told you, sincerity evident in his voice, “and I know you miss him too.”

“Don’t,” you responded, not wanting to think of how much you missed Foggy. “If he missed me he wouldn’t have been laughing with someone else at the bar,” you sighed, “and besides, I’m fine.”
“People who are fine don’t sleep in the guest room and on the couch,” Matt responded, “just answer the next time he calls.” He was right, you hadn’t slept in your bed since the night you saw Foggy at Josie’s. Every time you tried, the bed felt empty and it usually resulted in you tossing and turning all night.
A few days later, you gave in when Foggy called. You weren’t sure why it was different that time, but you felt that it would work now. “Hey. Can we meet up at Josie’s or something or even at the apartment? I just want to talk to you,” you heard Foggy speak, voice sounding desperate.
“Let’s meet at Josie’s tonight when you’re done at the office,” you responded, smiling at the sound of his voice and the slight bit of hope it brought you.
“I’ll see you there at 7, pretty,” he responded, a smile now evident in his voice.
You nervously got ready to see Foggy, choosing to wear a shirt he had bought for you when you two first got together and a pair of jeans. You wanted to keep it simple, unsure of where tonight would lead. Despite the conversation on the phone and how he sounded happy that you agreed to meet with him, your mind still worried about the worst possible outcome. You checked the time as you put the finishing touches to your outfit before heading out the door and making your way to Josie’s.
When you walked in, Foggy was already waiting for you. “I wasn’t sure you’d actually come. I’ve missed you,” he said with a small smile on his face.
“I’ve missed you too. I’m so sorry for everything that happened,” you said as he pulled you into a hug. You smiled as you wrapped your arms around him, finding comfort in his warm embrace that you had missed so much.
The two of you then headed over to the bartop together as butterflies erupted in your stomach. “Who was the girl you were with the night Matt and Karen tried to get us back together?” you asked him, voice full of simple curiosity.
“She was an ex-girlfriend. I wanted nothing to do with her past a professional relationship and needed help with something,” he told you, sincerity evident in the way he talked. “That’s all the conversation was up until she saw you walk in. That’s when she started laughing and joking, knowing you'd see and not want to talk to me,” he said as he reached for your hand.
Oh, I’m going home
After meeting with Foggy at Josie’s the two of you decided to start your relationship again. The two of you both thought that it would be best to take getting back into the swing of your relationship slowly. One major thing the two of you discussed when talking about working things out again was going on your first date again, wanting to see if the feelings were actually still there or if the two of you simply missed the familiarity that you provided each other.
The day you met Foggy was an extremely stressful day for you. You had gotten stuck working late at your office the night before, resulting in a grand total of 4 hours of sleep before having to be back at work the next day. Given the lack of sleep, you opted for buying a coffee instead of making one at home, since the coffee shop was on your way into the office.
After paying for your coffee, you bumped into a man in a suit as you turned to move to the pickup area, causing him to spill one of the cups he was holding. “Oh,” you started before freezing up for a second at the sight of him. “I am so sorry, I can buy you a new one if you’d like, or even a new shirt since I’m pretty sure the one you’re wearing is ruined,” you offered, feeling terrible about the situation.
“Don’t worry about it,” he responded with a smile. “It was for my friend, he’ll have to get over it. However, could I get your number to make up for it?”
You nodded, smiling wide at the man who stood before you. You wrote down your number, and he did the same with his and the two of you went your own ways.
When you made it to your office, you shot him a text “hi, i really hope this is the right number but it's the clumsy girl from the coffee shop.”
You got a response from him surprisingly quick “hi you got the right number. I’m surprised you thought it wouldn’t have been considering I asked for yours first.”
“you’d be surprised. I never got your name though”
“Foggy. Well Franklin but everyone calls me Foggy”
Later that night, Foggy had asked if it would be okay to call you, which you agreed to, weirdly excited to talk to a guy you had met just that morning. When your phone rang and his name flashed across the screen, you answered with a smile. “Hi Fogs,” you said with a smile, “how did your friend take it when you told him about the coffee mishap?”
“Hello pretty, he was extremely understanding when I told him how beautiful you were,” he told you. You could tell by his voice that he was smiling too. The two of you spent the next couple of hours talking about anything you could think to talk about, not wanting the conversation to end.
“It’s getting late,” Foggy said around 11:30, “I should probably let you get some sleep.”
After the two of you said your goodbyes for the nights, you went to sleep with a smile on your face, excited to talk to Foggy more the next day.
About a week later, Foggy asked you out on your first date, wanting to take you to a diner down the street from your apartment. Foggy met you at your apartment, knocking promptly at the time he said he’d be there to pick you up. When you answered the door, he handed you a bouquet of your favorite flowers. “I got these for you. I remembered you saying these were your favorite the other day,” he said as he handed them to you with a shy smile on his face.
You smiled at him as you took the flowers, “Thank you, they’re amazing,” you said as you hugged him. “If you’d like to come inside I just have to put these in some water and then we should be good to go.” You stepped out of the doorway, allowing Foggy to head inside your apartment.
The walk to the diner was filled with a comfortable silence, as well as a few small conversations. When you got to the diner, Foggy opened the door for you and reached for your hand once the two of you were inside. Your first date with Foggy went extremely smoothly and was one of the best first dates you had been on in a while. After dinner the two of you walked through the park hand-in-hand, finding any reason to extend the night. When you did eventually have to call it a night, Foggy walked you back to your apartment, “I had a lot of fun with you tonight,” you said with a smile, “thank you for all of it.”
“Of course, pretty,” he said with a smile. “I had a lot of fun too.” He gently tilted your face up by your chin, “Can I?” he asked, leaning in but waiting for your reaction. You nodded and leaned in, gently pressing your lips to his. You smiled into the kiss before parting a little. “I should go soon,” he whispered, his lips still hovering over yours.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come in?” you asked, leaning in to press your lips to his again. “I mean I have nowhere to be in the morning so if you don’t.”
“Next time lovely,” he answered between kisses.
You were putting finishing touches on an outfit that you hoped Foggy would like when you heard a knock on the door. You smiled when you opened the door to reveal Foggy, holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers, just like he did when he took you on your very first date. “Hey pretty lady, I got these for you,” he said with a smile as he handed them to you.
“You didn’t have to get me flowers,” you said, blushing slightly as you took the flowers. You put them in water before grabbing your purse and walking back over to Foggy. “Where are we going? You never told me,” you reminded him, hoping that asking him again would get you more of a response than him telling you that it was a surprise and that you’d see where you’d get there.
“You’ll see soon,” he reminded you, taking your hand and leading you to the diner where the two of you had your first date. “Here we are,” he said with a smile, softly kissing your temple. You smiled as he opened the door for you, reaching for his hand as the two of you walked in.
The rest of the night was very reminiscent of the first date the two of you had gone on. The two of you walked hand-in-hand through the same park before heading to the apartment you once shared. Foggy tilted your face up by your chin, waiting for your reaction before pressing his lips against yours. You draped your arms over his shoulders, interlocking your fingers as he moved his hands to your waist, pulling you closer to him. “Stay the night,” you said as you pulled away.
“On the first date?” Foggy joked with a smile, following you into the apartment anyway. He pulled you in for another, more heated kiss as he walked you back towards the couch. When the back of your knees hit the couch, he gently laid you down, exploring your body in any way he could. “God, I’ve missed you. Be my girlfriend again,” he muttered against your skin as he left kisses and small marks along your neck.
“Odd time to ask Fogs but of course,” you forced yourself to say through small gasps and whimpers as your body reacted to his touch.
A little over 2 weeks after the two of you redid your first date, you woke up in Foggy’s arms on a Saturday morning. Foggy woke up before you but laid in bed with you until you woke up, not wanting to disturb you. When you felt him start to stand up out of bed you let out a small groan and reached for him, “No, come back,” you said, a pout evident on your face.
“Baby, I’d love to but I am out of clothes here,” he said as he made his way to your side of the bed, leaning down to kiss your forehead. “I just need to go back to Matt’s for a little bit. The scene in front of you caused you to think of when the two of you decided to move in together, into the apartment that you two were now at.
You woke up on a cloudy Sunday morning, much earlier than expected. You looked over at Foggy, still fast asleep, and slowly slipped out of his arms as you got out of bed to put on your discarded clothes from the night before. Foggy let out a tired groan as he turned onto his back, peeling his eyes open to see you standing on your side of the bed. “Do you have to leave?” he asked, voice thick with sleep. “It’s still so early,” he whined, trying to coax you back into bed with him.
“I’m sorry Fogs,” you said as you stepped closer to the bed, “I have no work clothes here and should get home for the night. I’ll be back Friday.” You sat on the bed, reaching out to place your hand on his bicep, leaning down to kiss him as you did so.
“Or,” Foggy started as he pulled you on top of him, “you could stay in bed and we could both go to your house for the week,” he said with a slight smirk, leaning up to pull you into a kiss.
You smiled as you pulled away, your hand resting on his chest as you did. “I would love to spend forever in bed with you babe, however, it is not practical in this apartment or in mine,” you told him, a reminder of a previous conversation the two of you had about potentially moving in together one day.
“Let’s find a place together then,” Foggy responded enthusiastically, a wide smile plastered on his face. “My lease ends in a month and yours ends soon too. We can find a place close enough to Nelson & Murdock for me and close enough to your job that you can continue to walk there.”
You smiled as he spoke, “Also close enough to the coffee shop where we met that we can go there all the time,” you added in jokingly.
“Of course how could I forget?” Foggy said with a chuckle. “Also we’ll need room for the 5 little Nelsons that we’ll have running around eventually unless you want to move out of the city for that part.”
“When did it become 5 children Franklin? I thought we agreed on 3 total?” you questioned him with a smile. “I mean I guess 5 is okay but we won’t find space in the city for that many kids and a warning that you want 5 would have been nice,” you made your way off of his lap.
“I know a place that’s available soon. It definitely won’t work for when we have kids one day, or for any pets without an extra deposit, but it fits the rest of the criteria,” he told you as he pulled up the information he had saved about the apartment the two of you came to occupy.
You let out a groan as you sat up, “Why don’t you just move back in? You’ve spent nearly every night here since we got back together,” you said as you reached out to grab his hand. “Plus I’m pretty sure our bed is more comfortable than Matt’s couch, and he’d probably like you out of his apartment soon.”
“I’m not sure if it’s the bed or that you’re laying in it with me but I definitely do sleep better here,” Foggy responded with a smile. “I guess we can get all of my stuff from Matt’s apartment tomorrow. For now, we lay in bed,” Foggy said giving in and laying back in bed with you. You laid down, snuggling into his chest with a content smile. “I love you,” Foggy said as he placed a kiss on the top of your head.
“I love you too,” you said looking up at him.
The next day, the two of you - with the help of Matt - moved the rest of Foggy’s stuff out of Matt’s apartment and into your shared one. “I’m so happy to have you home again,” you told Foggy as you helped him unpack the few boxes he had.
“I’m happy to be home with you, pretty,” he responded, stealing a quick kiss before the two of you went back to unpacking.

I slipped the key into the lock and turned it quietly, quickly letting myself in and gently closing the door behind me. After twisting the lock back into place, I made my way down the entryway and turned the corner to head straight for the fridge. The light from inside was the only illumination coating the otherwise dark apartment apart from the quick flashes of light from the giant billboard outside the window of the living room. I let out a huff as I scanned my alcohol choices, standing up on my tiptoes to see if there were any better options on top of the fridge. No such luck. I was about to reach for one of the shitty beers inside when a voice cut through the silence.
“What are you doing?”
I screamed as I spun around, slamming the refrigerator door shut with my back as I braced myself against it. I squinted my eyes to see the shadowy silhouette of a figure sitting on the couch. I ran a shaky hand over my face, attempting to get my breathing back under control.
“Jesus Christ, Matt. What the hell are you doing here?”
“I live here.”
“I realize that, smartass. I thought you’d be out..doing your..thing.”
“It’s still early.”
“I didn’t realize criminals followed the designated hours allotted for illegal activity.”
I could hear him snicker, and I just knew he had that stupid smirk on his face. I had known Matt Murdock for a little over a year after I started working as an assistant at his firm along with Karen. After a few high profile cases, they were getting more clients than they could keep track of and needed the extra help. Thus started my complicated relationship with Matt Murdock. Well, it wasn’t really complicated. I complicated it. I immediately developed a crush on him, and he was a flirty little shit that only made it worse. Sometimes I wasn’t sure if he knew what he was doing, or if he was doing it on purpose.
I had accidentally found out about his nighttime activities two months ago when I walked in on him changing out of his costume. He hadn’t shown up to the office that day, and Foggy kept insisting he was probably fine, just sick, but I couldn’t let it go. New York was a dangerous city, and Matt was blind. Or, so I thought. I had used my key he had given me for emergencies and let myself in, calls of his name dying on my tongue when I saw him standing in the middle of the living room with his helmet in his hands. Suddenly, everything kinda clicked. He was always running off at odd times, bailing on drinks after work, constantly not answering calls or texts, and there were always bruises and cuts popping up he would make simple excuses for.
We had both stared at each other for what felt like an eternity. There were a million thoughts swirling around in my head. I honestly didn’t know if I was surprised or pissed. Panic was evident on his face as he approached me slowly, like he was terrified I would bolt if he moved too fast, and had both of his hands held up in front of him.
“I..I know how this looks.”
“It looks like you’re going to be late for court. Get dressed and move your ass, Murdock. I’ll deal with you later.”
For once Matt Murdock had been rendered speechless, and I took pride in that. That charming fucker always had something to say, always had to have the last word. Even though I had promised him we would talk later, I avoided him like my life depended on it. I didn’t show up to his place later that night. I ignored every single one of his calls and texts. I called in sick for two days. I wanted him to know how it felt, to worry, and to be on the other side of a broken promise. To have absolutely no idea what was going on. A piece of me felt betrayed. I know I didn’t have a right to feel that way. Matt was my boss, and sort of my friend, but he owed me nothing. Especially not a secret like that. But still, it stung. I felt like I had been lied to the entire time I had known him.
He had showed up at my apartment that second night I didn’t come to work, letting himself in through the window. I had a feeling he would. He wasn’t known for his patience. Although I must admit I was a little disappointed he didn’t show up in costume. I was on my third glass of wine and feeling brave, swirling the burgundy contents in my glass as I stared over at him.
“Tell me, how does a blind guy climb up a fire escape? Or are you even really blind?”
“I told you about my accident.”
“You did. But how am I supposed to determine what comes out of your mouth is true and what’s bullshit?”
“I..it’s complicated.”
“Then spell it out for me.”
Matt had finally given me the truth. He came clean about everything, about his heightened senses, about how he was trained as a kid, when he decided to become what he was. I still didn’t fully understand how he was able to do what he did, but I tried not to push it too far. In an odd way, it made things better between us. He didn’t lie anymore about what he was really up to, he promised to keep us updated on where he was going in case something went wrong, and he always promised to be careful. His suit and helmet may have been damn near indestructible, but he was still human underneath. While I knew he could handle himself, I had seen the video evidence, I still worried about him. And every night for the past two months, I found myself unable to fall asleep until I got the one message I had made him promise to send me every night.
I’m home.
“Are you just here for my beer?”
“I was hoping for something a little stronger, but I guess I’ll have to settle.”
“Wow, stealing from a blind guy. Have you no morals?”
“Hey, I was gonna leave a twenty on the counter.”
“How generous of you.”
“Do me a favor next time you do a beer run, get something good. Not this German shit. I’m talking Mexican Lager, maybe a little beer salt, some limes. Be considerate of those who raid your stash while you’re out making the world a better place.”
I twisted the top off the bottle and threw it into the trash, making my way over to sit down on the couch opposite the one Matt was sitting on. I could see him better from this spot. The light from the billboard made the red of his glasses almost glow. I rarely ever saw Matt not in his lawyer gear, or his other suit. It was refreshing to see him in a black tshirt, that looked like it had been dried one too many times, and a pair of dark gray sweatpants. He looked..cozy.
“Can I ask you something?”
“I feel like even if I say no, you’re going to anyway.”
Matt pursed his lips into a pout of contempt. I had been getting fed up with his teasing, so I decided to start dishing it right back. It was kinda fun to get him all riled up for a change.
“Go ahead.”
“You’ve been..oddly calm about all of this. I mean..even from the moment you found me in the suit. I was expecting you to-”
“Freak out?”
“Well, yeah. Or at the very least, lecture me. I got an earful from Foggy when he found out.”
Matt had sat up a little straighter, resting his elbows on his knees as he clasped his hands in front of him. There was a time when I thought I could shamelessly stare at him without fear of being caught damn near drooling. In the beginning, I did. I didn’t panic when he turned his head towards me, because I didn’t think he could see me. I didn’t think I was getting caught. Of course after Matt had told me the truth about his abilities, I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole realizing that he had been aware the entire fucking time.
Letting out a sigh, I ran my fingers through my hair and took another sip from the beer.
“You’re a grown man, Matt. Nothing I say or do is going to change your mind. You’re going to do what you want regardless of what any of us say.”
“Yeah but..you’re the only one that’s a little..warmer to the idea. You’ve had no apprehensions about it, not once. You don’t think it’s wrong?”
“I’m not exactly the person you should be asking that.”
“Why not?”
“Because my moral compass isn’t exactly as straight as everyone else's.”
“I want to know what you really think. You’ve been holding back.”
“Does it matter?”
“It does to me.”
“Aren’t you Catholic? Shouldn’t you only worry about what God thinks?”
“He’s..a little hard to get a hold of sometimes.”
“She.”
Matt perked his head up, a slight chuckle leaving his mouth as he looked over at me incredulously.
“I thought you weren’t religious?”
“I’m not. But if there is a God, she’s a woman.”
“Fair enough.”
There was no easy way to get out of a conversation with Matt Murdock. Once he had his teeth sunk into something, there was no letting go. My choices were to give in and give him what he wanted, or deal with his relentless pestering until he got it. I let out another deep sigh as I leaned back into his stupid expensive comfy couch.
“I know there’s an idealistic part of you that thinks the system works. But I also know there’s a more realistic side of you that can acknowledge that often, it fails. If you didn’t feel that way, you wouldn’t be running around rooftops in your little red number every night. I don’t believe in absolutes. I don’t think there’s just good and evil, or black and white; there’s a lot of gray area. I guess..that’s where you come in.”
“So, you don’t think it’s wrong?”
“The short answer? No.”
“But you feel for them.”
“You forget I come from a family of criminals.”
“But you didn’t end up like them.”
“Because I chose not to. That doesn’t mean I’m not sympathetic. I got lucky. I made my own choice. Some of those people out there..feel like they don’t have one. So yeah, maybe you get them put away and they’re out in a week or a month, but that’s a week or a month they have time to make a choice of their own. And if they make the wrong one, then you’ll be there. Look, I don’t like that you’re out there every night putting your life, and your career, at risk. But I also get why you do it. There are those assholes who think they’re above the law because they pay the ones that enforce it to work in their favor. So if they lie under oath, it’s only fair they get to meet the Devil.”
“You worry about me?”
There was that signature, shit-eating grin on his face. God he was insufferable sometimes. I wanted to climb across this coffee table and smack it off, but he would probably have me pinned down before I had a chance. On second thought..might not be such a bad idea. I groaned in exasperation, finishing off the bottle in my hand.
“Yes, Matthew. I worry about you, alright? Sue me.”
“I know a good lawyer.”
“Oh fuck off. Look, can we save our Hallmark moment? Or do you feel the need to milk it for all it’s worth?”
Every single one of his stupid perfect white teeth were on display as he grinned widely at me, his broad shoulders moving slightly with every snicker that came from his chest. Matthew Murdock had to be the most infuriating man I had ever met. It was like he lived to tease and test my patience.
A comfortable silence washed over us after a while. My thumb lightly brushed over the label on the bottle as I stared out the window, thinking about what might be waiting out there for Matt tonight. No matter how much I didn’t want to, my mind always drifted to him. I was constantly thinking about him. My thoughts often wandered to the night he had told me the truth, about everything.
That night, realization dawned on me like the first sun after a long winter. He knew. He knew all along that I had been watching him, staring shamelessly. He always heard the way my heartbeat quickened whenever he entered the room, or was suddenly close to me. He could feel the rise in temperature in my cheeks from his lighthearted flirting. He knew..but never said anything. Never acted on it. After his confession, I crossed off the possibility that he had no idea what he was doing to me. Maybe it was really all a game to him.
“What is it?”
“Huh?”
“What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing.”
“I don’t know why you still bother trying to lie when you know I can tell when you are. Besides, I can practically hear the words buzzing in your head.”
“Okay, your hearing isn’t that good. And I’m gonna keep practicing my lying skills until one day even I can trick the human lie detector, Matthew Murdock.”
“Lie detectors actually don’t work very well. They’re kind of bullshit.”
Normally I wouldn’t concede in our banter so easily, but it was getting late and I was exhausted. I was also completely on edge knowing at any second, Matt was going to subject himself to the violent dangers of Hell’s Kitchen leaving me a mess of anxiety waiting on that one message that would finally put me at ease.
“Come on, talk to me. I still got some time to kill. Tell me what’s going on in that little head of yours.”
I racked my brain for anything I could use along the lines of what was running through my head without completely giving myself away. I curled up into the side of his couch, resting my hand on my palm as I looked over at him.
“What..what do you see, exactly? I know you kind of explained it to me..but I’m just curious. I mean is it like..sonar? Shadows or shapes? White noise?”
“It’s more like..a world on fire.”
“Well that sounds..pleasant.”
“Why?”
“What?”
“Why do you ask?”
Shit. I tapped my nail lightly against the side of the bottle, shrugging my shoulders a bit now that I knew he could tell when I did that.
“I’m just..trying to understand. Foggy..um..he always says that you always know when girls are pretty so..I guess I was just wondering what you saw. When you look at people, I mean. You can..see them.”
“Short answer, yes. In my own way, I can tell what people look like.”
Maybe that was it. Maybe he could see me, and wasn’t impressed. Maybe he didn’t think I was as pretty as all his other girlfriends and that’s why he never said anything. Leave it to me to not even be a blind guy’s “type”. It certainly wasn’t because we worked together. That didn’t stop him and Karen, which was a painfully awkward conversation to have with her once she found out about my infatuation with him.
“I know that you’re pretty.”
My head snapped in Matt’s direction and I expected to see his usual stupid smirk coating his lips, but he was just smiling. A real, genuine smile. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Was this a trick?
“What?”
“I said I think you’re pretty.”
“Oh..Foggy tell you that? You know you can’t trust his judgment after tequila.”
The smile on his mouth only stretched further as he shook his head slowly, bracing his palms on his knees.
“No, I can tell for myself.”
I didn’t know what to say. Matt had never called me pretty before. He flirted with me like it was his own personal mission from God, but I never thought he actually found me attractive. I didn’t know he could. I promptly became self conscious of the fact that I was wearing a flimsy tank top with a cropped zip up hoodie and a pair of leggings that had small holes forming on the inner thighs where they had been worn down. I didn’t think he was going to be here, so I didn’t bother with changing. I had never had a reason to be self conscious about my appearance with Matt before. But now I knew that he could see me, and thought that I was pretty.
“Does that bother you?”
“What?”
Matt rose from his spot on the couch, taking careful steps around the coffee table until he could take his place right beside me. If he moved even a centimeter closer, his knee would brush against mine.
“Does it bother you that I think you’re pretty?”
“Oh..um..n-no. But..you knew that already..right?”
“I wanted to hear you say it.”
Matt was closer in proximity than he ever had been before, and the scent of his cologne was intoxicating. I had to stop myself from leaning in to nuzzle his neck. His large hands were braced against his thighs, as if he was waiting for something. I loved Matt’s hands. I knew what they were capable of, but I wanted to know what they could do to me.
“How does it make you feel?”
“What?”
“That I think you’re pretty. How does it make you feel?”
“Matt-”
“Don’t be shy, Y/N. Be a good girl and tell me how it makes you feel.”
Good girl. Those two words went straight to my core and caused me to press my thighs together tightly, which did not go unnoticed by Matt. He noticed fucking everything. His eyebrows rose slightly above his crimson colored glasses, that familiar smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“Oh, did you like that?”
I didn’t know if my frustration was purely sexual or just due to Matt being a cocky son of a bitch but I couldn’t stand to be around him for another second. I hadn’t eaten since lunch so I was pathetically buzzed off of one beer, further intoxicated by the scent of his cologne that had weaved its way through my lungs, and internally begging to hear more filthy words fall from his graceful lips in that dangerously low voice. As much as my body was screaming for his touch, my brain reminded me just how much he pissed me off. I slammed my empty bottle on the table as I stood.
“I am so fucking over your little games, Murdock.”
Matt’s hand darted out in a flash to grip onto my wrist, not hard enough to leave a mark, but just enough to let me know I wasn’t leaving. I felt my breath hitch in my throat as I looked down at him and swallowed thickly. There was a somewhat pained look on his face and his jaw clenched slightly.
“Don’t. It’s not a game.”
Without warning, he pulled me down onto his lap with an ease that caused a sharp gasp to fall from my lips at just how strong he was. His arm snaked around my back, trapping me against his firm chest so that our faces were merely an inch apart. I flattened my palms against his chest, not like I could push him away even if I really tried. I could feel his warm breath fanning over my lips.
“Tell me I’m wrong. Tell me that I read this all completely wrong, and you can walk out that door, and we can pretend that this never happened. I won’t bring it up again, I swear. But if you do want this..God, I need to know.”
My heart was pounding so loudly in my ears it was deafening. I wondered what it must sound like to him. To me, it must have resembled a hummingbird fluttering around in a cage. But for Matt, it had to be far more intense, like a marching band plowing right through my ribcage. I reached up with trembling hands, grabbing onto the sides of Matt’s glasses and gently pulled them off of his face.
I always thought Matt’s eyes were beautiful. There were swirls of deep caramel intermingled with honey golden embers and splashed with tiny flecks of jade. He brought his other hand down to rest on my waist, his thumb pressing light circles against my hip bone through the fabric of my leggings. God did I want to kiss him. I wanted to throw caution to the wind, bite the bullet and finally get what I had been craving since that first day.
But fear crept into the back of my mind and turned my blood cold. What did this mean? What would it change? Would I be just another shiny new toy that Matt would discard in a month once he got bored? I didn’t think I had the grace to carry on with business as usual like Karen had. This would change everything for me. There would be an entirely different rendition of “normal” if we crossed this line, and I had no idea what it meant to Matt.
“Let it go for tonight.”
“Let what go?”
“Everything you’re worrying about right now. I promise whatever happens, you and I will work it out together tomorrow morning. Line by line.”
Matt..”
“Tell me you want this, Y/N.”
“You can hear my heart.”
“I want to hear you say it. I need to hear you say it. Please.”
My mind was swimming with curiosities and consequences. I could give in. I could relinquish complete control and finally get to have Matt Murdock like I had been dreaming about since we first met. And even if the flame burns out too quickly for my liking, at least I’ll always be able to remember this night. And if I don’t, I could spend the rest of my life wondering what I had missed out on. Agonizing if I had made a mistake. Which was worse? To have a little taste, or nothing at all?
“I..I want this. I want you, Matt.”
In an instant his lips were crashing onto mine, grabbing onto the back of my neck to pull me impossibly closer. Our teeth and tongues thrashed together with insatiable hunger. Matt’s kisses were rough and needy and it lit a blaze within me. I had never wanted someone so badly. He grabbed a fistful of my hair and tugged my head to the side, granting himself full access to my neck. He left a burning trail of kisses down my neck and I whined when I felt his teeth sink into the juncture above my collarbone.
“Your scent drives me fucking crazy. Ever since you first stepped into the office..it was everywhere. It still fucking is. Doesn’t matter how many times I wash my clothes, how long it’s been since you’ve been in the office, or my apartment, your fucking scent is everywhere..and it goes straight to my cock. Do you have any idea how many times I’ve had to excuse myself to go fuck my hand in the bathroom like a horny fucking teenager because of you?”
“M-Matt..”
His fingers swiftly tugged at the zipper of my hoodie, shoving it down my shoulders and throwing it across the floor. He gripped the top of my tank top and ripped it completely in half like a piece of paper, carelessly discarding the scraps. A gasp of surprise left me but was completely cut off by a loud moan when Matt pulled me roughly down onto his lap.
“Can you feel that? Can you feel what you fucking do to me?”
I could feel the entire outline of Matt’s hardened bulge as he grabbed my hips, pulling me down even harder against him. I let my head fall back and moaned wantonly at the feeling of his hard on rubbing against me right where I wanted him. I was surprised he had actually unclasped my bra instead of ripping it off with all of my other clothing. My nipples instantly peaked from the rush of cool air and goosebumps littered my naked skin. My mouth hung open at the contrast of Matt’s warm large hands fondling my breasts, squeezing them roughly. His mouth latched onto one of my nipples, alternating between sucking and biting down on the sensitive flesh. He splayed one of his large hands flat against my back, keeping me in place so I couldn’t escape the delicious torture.
“I can fucking smell your arousal. I can smell how fucking soaked you are right now. Fuck..I can’t wait to tear you apart.”
I whined as I gripped at the collar of his shirt, giving it a light tug hoping he would get the hint. As he pulled his shirt off his head, I took the opportunity to rush forward and drag my tongue along the sharp outline of his jaw, nipping at the skin under his ear. He grunted as he suddenly shot up with me in his arms, turning slightly to drop me onto my back on the couch as he ripped my leggings down my thighs. I gulped as I watched him shove his sweats down, climbing onto the couch on his knees in front of me. He flashed me a devilish grin before sounds of seams ripping and tearing filled the ear. My mouth hung open in shock as I stared at the remnant shreds of my panties in his hand.
“Matt-”
Before I could register what was happening, he placed one of his large hands over my mouth and shoved two of his fingers into my soaking pussy. I whined against his hand, staring up at him above me with wide eyes.
“Shh, you’re gonna be a good girl for me, aren’t you? Gonna let me take what I want? Gonna let me use you like my own little whore, yeah?”
A fresh wave of arousal flooded between my thighs. The sweet, charming Matt Murdock was long gone. The devil had come out to play.
Matt wasted no time settling between my thighs, diving face first into my pussy like a man starved. I cried out in pleasure as he bit down on my clit, soothing it with his tongue before sucking on the sensitive nub without remorse. His beard burned as it rubbed against my thighs, but it felt so fucking good at the same time. One of his hands clamped down on my thigh to keep it spread and he locked my hips down in place with his arm so I couldn’t move at all. All I could do was lie there and take it as he took what he wanted. As he worked me over with his tongue, his fingers explored deep inside of me, curling up upon exit every now and then and brushing against that special spot. I wasn’t going to last.
“Matt..M-Matt fuck..I..I’m g-”
I nearly cried when he roughly retracted his fingers and removed his mouth. I shot up instantly to reach out for him, face contorted in annoyance and ready to protest. His hand suddenly wrapped around my throat, squeezing just enough to get me to stay still. A warning. I grabbed onto his wrist with both of my hands. My entire body felt like it was on fire. His lips were red and swollen, and coated with my wetness that was dripping down his chin. The smirk on his lips grew more wicked by the second.
“I didn’t say you could come. You don’t get to come unless it’s on my cock, understand? You have to earn it. You have to prove to me that you’re a good girl, and beg for it. If I even think you’re going to come without permission, I will tie you up and leave you here all fucking night. Tell me you understand.”
“I..I u-understand.”
“Good.”
I sucked in a deep breath when Matt let go of my neck. His large hands gripped my hips savagely and he flipped me over without hesitation onto my stomach. He shoved his knee in between my thighs to spread them apart, pulling me up onto my knees so that my ass was straight up in the air. I whined loudly when I felt the sting of his palm slapping harshly against my ass. I didn’t have to turn around to know there would be a perfect outline of his hand. I could hear the rustling of clothing behind me as he shoved his briefs down his muscular thighs.
“Give me your hands.”
I swallowed thickly as I turned my head slightly so that my face was flush against the cushion of the couch, reaching my hands behind my back. Matt took both of my wrists into one of his hands, holding them firmly against my back. I surged forward and cried out when he abruptly shoved the head of his cock into my needy pussy. He didn’t give me time to adjust and before I knew it I could feel his hips against my ass as he fully sheathed himself inside me. I heard a guttural groan rip through his chest behind me and it went straight to my core.
“Fuck..you’re even fucking tighter than I thought you’d be. Gripping my cock so fucking good.”
Matt’s thrusts were rigorous and unrelenting as he pounded into me. My body surged forward with every powerful snap of his hips. I had never been fucked like this before. My head was spinning and it was becoming more and more difficult to stay up on my knees with the pace Matt was fucking me at. I felt him grab a large fistful of my hair, yanking me backwards so that my back was arched even more. I moaned sharply at the new angle that allowed him to drive deeper inside of me. He was so big and thick, and it burned delectably everytime he pushed in further.
“M-Matt..please..please I-I can’t..”
“Gonna come already? Don’t be a greedy slut. I’m not done yet.”
“I c-can’t..c-can’t hold it..”
“You better fucking find a way to hold it.”
I didn’t want him to stop. I didn’t think I could handle it if he stopped. I needed him. I dug my nails so hard into my palms I thought they would bleed. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying my hardest not to combust. I clenched my pussy around his length which earned a luscious groan from deep within his chest.
“Fuck angel..you want it that bad, don’t you? Want me to fill this pretty little cunt up?”
“Yes, yes, yes..please..please-fuck..”
Matt let go of my hair and moved his hand between my thighs, beginning to rub his fingers over my clit at a brutal pace. I jerked back against him and nearly screamed at the contact, feeling that band within me dangerously close to snapping.
“Go ahead, angel. Come for me. Let go, and don’t you fucking hold back. I want it all.”
My thighs shook as my orgasm hit me like a tsunami, leaving my body a convulsing mess against him. I moaned his name over and over like a prayer, grinding my ass back against him as I tried to survive the aftershocks. Matt moaned loudly as he spilled inside of me with a vengeance, leaning forward over my back to clamp his teeth down on my shoulder. I whimpered softly as I felt his tongue brush over the spot to soothe the pain.
I cried out again when I felt his length slip out of me, only to be replaced by his fingers as he cupped my pussy, keeping his release inside of me. His hot breath fanned over my ear as he nipped at it, speaking lowly in a gravely tone.
“Don’t think I’m fucking done with you yet.”
I whimpered at his words and nearly fell apart all over again. It wasn’t a threat, it was a promise. Matt maneuvered me back onto his lap, spreading my thighs on the opposite sides of his. As fast as he withdrew his fingers from me, he was pulling me down onto his half hard cock until he bottomed out inside of me. My mouth hung wide open and I wanted to scream at the sensation, but I couldn’t speak. I could feel him everywhere. I had never felt so full and so whole.
“You gotta earn this one, angel. Show me how good of a girl you can be.”
Matt wrapped his arms tightly around my waist, caging me against his chest once again. My thighs burned and felt like jelly, I wasn’t even sure if I could move. I didn’t know if it was my own desire or my need to please Matt, but somehow I found my strength. I grabbed onto his broad shoulders for support, beginning to rock my hips back and forth slowly. I whined from the sensitivity, leaning in to bury my face into the crook of his neck.
“That’s it..just like that. Look so pretty when you’re taking my cock, angel.”
The embers had been reignited and the fire began to grow within my belly once more. I took the opportunity to leave open-mouthed kisses along his neck, sucking softly at the nape of it. The breathy little moans that left his lips only spurred me on further. I bit down gently on his neck and heard him hiss, roughly digging his fingertips into the flesh of my hips. I couldn’t wait to see the marks he had left on me tomorrow. I wanted to make one of my own.
I sucked aggressively at the skin just above his collarbone, testing my luck as I bit down harder than I had before. I gasped when I felt his hand wrap around my throat again, bringing our faces closer together as the corner of his lips curled up in a snarl.
“Did I say you get to fucking tease?”
“N-no..I’m sorry..”
“Then what the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
“I..I just wanted..wanted t-to make you f-feel good too..”
“You wanna make me feel good? Ride my fucking cock.”
Matt smacked his hand against my ass sharply, earning another loud moan from me. His grip on my waist tightened as he leaned back against the cushions to stare at me. I bit down on my lip hard, starting to move my hips in slow figure eights. I was trying so hard to keep a steady pace, but I couldn’t focus. My body felt weak and my brain was erratic from how turned on I was. Matt’s patience wore thin as he held me steady and began to snap his hips up into mine repeatedly, causing me to bounce on his cock at an unforgiving pace. I squeezed my eyes shut and threw my head back, digging my nails into his shoulder as I held on.
“Oh fuck..fuck fuck fuck..fuck Matt!”
The apartment was filled with sounds of his thighs slapping against my ass, his cock pistoning inside of my gushing pussy, and the violent growls that rang from his throat. I felt like he might actually tear me apart, and God what a way to fucking go. I grabbed onto the back of his neck tightly, pressing my forehead against his as I moaned even louder. I was gonna break.
“M-Matt..I..I..”
“Come. Come all over my fucking cock, angel. Let me have it.”
I crushed my chest against his, holding onto him as tightly as I could as my second orgasm tore through my body with retribution. I was a screaming, incoherent mess as wave after wave of pleasure racked through me. I could feel Matt’s hips stutter slightly as he came with a loud grunt, coating my walls with ropes of warmth once again. My heart pounded violently in my chest and I struggled to take in oxygen. I was shaking in Matt’s arms as he held me, nearly on the verge of tears. I had never felt so good.
Matt gently ran his fingers through my hair, brushing it out of my face as he pressed a soft kiss to the side of my head. He lightly trailed his fingertips up and down my spine slowly, brushing his nose along the curve of my jaw until his lips were on mine. His kisses continued along my neck as he whispered softly in my ear.
“Can you give me one more baby?”
I started to panic. I didn’t know if I could physically or mentally take one more. I whimpered as I hid my face in Matt’s neck, tightening my grip on his back.
“Matt..I don’t-”
“Shh, it’s okay. I’ve got you. I’ll help you. Just one more for me, baby. You can do it, I know you can.”
Matt slowly lifted us off the couch, his arms wrapped tightly around me and his length still settled inside of me as he carried me into his bedroom and laid me down gently on the bed. He kept himself inside of me the entire time. I panted softly as I looked up at him. He placed his hands on either side of my head, a soft smile on his lips as he leaned down to brush our noses together.
“I’m gonna go slow, okay?”
He gently pulled my legs up to wrap around his waist, taking one of my hands and intertwining our fingers together as he held it by my head. The way he was looking at me made butterflies erupt in my stomach, and I felt my heart squeeze in my chest. The devil had his fun, now my sweet, charming Matt Murdock was back. He kissed me gingerly as he began to lazily move our hips together.
My entire body felt like a live wire and every time our hips connected it sent a jolt of electricity through me that made me wanna scream. It just felt so good. I couldn’t stop the tears that slipped down my cheeks or the sobs of pleasure that sounded from my lips. Matt pressed his forehead against mine as he lightly brushed the tears away with his thumb.
“I know baby..I know. I feel it too. I’ve wanted this for so long Y/N..wanted you for so long. God, you have no idea. You belong with me, Y/N.”
I didn’t trust myself to speak. I didn’t know if I could tell you my own fucking name if you had asked right then. The only thing I could focus on was Matt and how perfectly we fit. I squeezed his hand tightly, feeling myself being brought closer and closer to the edge with every stroke. Matt leaned in to capture my lips in a passionate kiss. I reveled in the feeling of his body weight on top of me. It felt right. I felt safe.
“Matt..”
“I know, baby. You’re doing so well for me..so so well. I’m so proud of you, angel. Just a little longer baby, I’m almost there. Can you hold on for me just a little longer? Gonna make you feel so good baby, I promise.”
I could hardly hear Matt’s saccharine voice as my third orgasm of the night was steadily approaching. Matt gripped onto the sheets beside my head and sped his pace up just a bit. I didn’t have time to warn him, but he knew. He could feel it. He gently grabbed the back of my neck and pressed his forehead to mine, his voice shaking as he spoke.
“Let go baby, let it all go. I’m right here. I’m right here..I got you. I’m right here, angel.”
My vision became fuzzy, somewhat resembling the inside of a kaleidoscope, and I thought I was going to black out. It was like a bomb inside me had exploded, sending fragments flying that left me shaking uncontrollably. Euphoria rushed over me in unrelenting phases, and it felt like I was free falling throughout space. Matt Murdock had completely ruined me. It took several minutes before I came back down into coherency.
As my vision came back into focus, I could see Matt still hovering above me. He was lightly brushing his thumb across my cheekbone in a loving gesture, a small smile languidly forming on his lips.
“There you are. I missed you.”
I closed my eyes for a moment, turning my head to lean further into Matt’s touch. I was still trying to regain my bearings as I breathed heavily. Matt leaned down to press gentle kisses to my forehead, cheeks, nose, and lips. He slid his length out me as carefully as he could, but even just the brush of his pubic hair against my overstimulated clit sent another jolt through me and tears pricked at the corner of my eyes again. I whimpered as I could feel a rush of warmth between my thighs where his three rounds of release had begun to spill.
“I’m sorry, angel. I know. I’ll be right back, I’m gonna get you some water.”
I couldn’t move. It felt like there were invisible cinder blocks all over my body holding me down. No one had ever made me come like that, let alone three times in a row. Matt emerged a moment later with his briefs slung low on his hips, a glass of water and a small towel in hand. He sat down beside me, weaving his arm around my back to hold me up against his chest as he brought the glass to my lips.
“Here, baby. Drink as much as you can.”
Once he was satisfied with my water intake, he began to cautiously clean me up with the warm towel. I gripped onto his arm when he touched me where I was sensitive, to which he kissed my temple as a silent apology. He hooked his arms under my knees and back, shifting me over onto the part of the bed that wasn’t drenched with our release. As he laid down beside me, he carefully swung my leg over his waist and held me tightly against his chest.
I could finally hear his heartbeat for once with my head on his chest. It was fast, but steady and strong. I lightly traced my fingertips along the scars that covered his skin. The action quickly sobered me up as I glanced out the window, wondering how late it was.
“Matt?”
“Yeah?”
“Are you..still going out?”
“No. I used all my fighting bad guy energy to fuck you senseless.”
I immediately blushed and hid my face into his neck, lightly slapping at his chest.
“Matthew!”
“What?”
“You’re unbelievable.”
“And you’re beautiful.”
My breath caught in my throat at his words. That was what had started all of this. Those little words had jumpstarted the best night of my entire life. But I couldn’t stop myself from letting my mind wander about how long this night would actually last. His words from earlier echoed loudly in my mind. You belong with me, Y/N.
“Did you mean it?”
“When I said you’re beautiful?”
“No..when you said..I belong with you.”
Matt turned his head slightly so that he was facing me, cupping my cheek in his large hand while his thumb lightly ghosted over my bottom lip.
“I meant it.”
There were so many questions I had, I couldn’t keep track. How was this going to work? How could it work? What if it ended badly? What if something happened to Matt? I was completely exhausted both physically and mentally, and every question that popped into my head only made me feel more lightheaded. I knew Matt could hear my heartbeat going frantic again when he pressed a soft kiss to my forehead.
“Hey, I told you. We’ll figure it out in the morning. Together. Alright?”
“Alright.”
“Get some rest, angel. I’ll be right here when you wake up.”
I had no idea what tomorrow morning would bring, but at least I could take comfort in knowing that I was waking up in Matt’s arms. We would figure it out, together, line by line. And oh, it was definitely fucking better to have a little taste than nothing at all.

Falling in love with Matt Murdock was the easy part.
Falling back in love with him was the tough bit.
You had spent the years leading up to meeting him as a boxer turned vigilante— Your dad had taught you how to fight young, which led to a lot of trouble at school until he eventually started helping you enter teenage fights against your mom’s wishes.
It’s how you paid for college.
And then, after your college experience, you lose control. It was never supposed to happen the way it did. You had lost a fight and stole the guy’s motorcycle in defiance. But the roads were wet from an early snow and people of New York never knew how to drive.
Just like that, the nerves in your hands were shot. The accident got your hearing too since you got sick from the cold after your accident. The infection got so bad that it took the hearing from your left ear—And half from your right.
For months, you thought you’d never gain control of your hands again, snapping from a promising young fighter to a deaf and shaky temp. You were miserable. Fighting was your everything for so long.
And then The Doctor found you.
No, not the alien from the British television show, but a man who promised you your old life back. He found you while you were at your lowest and realized that you would do anything for your old life back.
He said in exchange for your old life, all you would have to do would be a test subject for a harmless new drug he was testing out.
You were so enamored by the idea of your old life that you had decided to take him up on his offer, so you were whisked away upstate with a group of other people desperate enough to try this experiment out.
Every morning you were given a shot of blue liquid into your arm, and then, you were to preform a series of tasks to record your progress. After three weeks you grew frustrated that you had seen no progress. You spent most of your time asking people to talk into your right ear and becoming mad at The Doctor.
About a month in, you started growing antlers.
At first, you freaked out. Like, truly, screamed and yelled, wanting an explanation. The Doctor celebrated, telling you this was great news—And to prove it, he had you pick up a pen and write a sentence out. Your hands didn’t shake and did everything you told them to do.
On top of the antlers and the newfound control of your nerves, you were strong—Fast, too. You could jump twelve-foot walls. The Doctor was obsessed with you. While other patients died off from whatever drugs you were being given, you were thriving.
At the end of your three-month stay, you were excited to leave and head back to your life. You’d just have to wear beanies everywhere to hide your antlers, you told yourself. A small price to pay.
But The Doctor wouldn’t let you leave.
How could he, he asked you, when you were his best test subject?
Being a prisoner was a lot worse than you thought it would be. Day in and day out, you were trained to be a soldier, you think. Fighting various guards, doing different athletic tests. The serum hadn’t fixed your hearing, but it had given you all of these gifts.
Until The Doctor became cruel.
He gave the guards these batons that had shock currents at the end of them, instructing them to use it whenever you talked back or underperformed. For months you struggled through days of electric shocks and experiments.
One night, a guard slipped into your cell, expecting you to be an easy target. You quickly showed him differently, knocking him out and stealing his weapons. And then, you ran. You ran until your feet bled—No shoes.
An old woman who had retired upstate welcomed you into her small cabin and fed you, never asking about the small antlers growing out of your head. She simply gave you a warm knit cap and a pair of boots for the cold.
You remember eating chili with her as she told you about her deceased husband. You changed your last name to theirs, knowing The Doctor would find you if you kept going by your name. You stayed with her for a weekend, coming back from gathering firewood to The Doctor’s men there, having killed the kind old woman and on the hunt for you. You stole her car and never looked back.
The next few weeks after that had been full of killing various soldiers and armies that The Doctor had sent after you, until you eventually pushed The Doctor off a building, believing to have killed him for good.
And that was that.
You went on with your life as usual, finding a permanent job as a secretary. In a law office.
Which, of course, is where you met Matt.
With Matt, you never felt the need to hide who you were. Of course, it was a lot easier to tell him that some mad scientist had infected you with a drug that turned you into a deer hybrid when he told you that he was Daredevil.
And with time, some of the effects of the serum began to fizzle out. Strength, Agility, Antlers—Those stayed. The control over your hands didn’t. But you made peace with that. Physical Therapy twice a week and hearing aids helped.
Especially because early Sunday mornings were filled with Matt running his fingers through your hair, running his pointer finger along the curves of your antlers. He takes your hands and kisses your fingertips as they shake, hushing you softly when you start crying as he does.
He spars with you and spends nights running around New York City with you, jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
He tells you about Elektra, Stick, his dad, and Fisk.
One day, when you feel safe enough, wrapped up in his arms and a layer of blankets as snow falls against the windows, you tell him about The Doctor.  You explain to him your nightmares, and why they will never go away.
He kisses away your tears and promises he’ll never let anything happen to you.
When he asks you to marry him, you don’t hesitate to say yes. There’s not a moment where you regret that decision. You insist to get married in the summer, during the short month where your antlers shed before they grow back. He agrees happily, just wanting you to be happy.
You’ve been married for about five months when you start to think about kids. You’ve been married six when you realize the worst possible scenario is your reality—When vials of blue serum show up at your front door with a note scribbled out—
‘My Best Test Subject,
I cannot wait to catch up with you soon.
-The Doctor’
You call Matt in a panic, begging him to come home and be with you. He obliges and holds you as you calm down. He promised to love you in sickness and in health, and that is what he fully intends to do.
This is the story of the greatest challenge that your marriage would face.

After the note you had received, you almost exclusively traveled with Matt. Even for just a casual stroll, a walk to the deli or home from work, He was there with you. He knew you could handle yourself, but you felt safer with him close by.
But Matt’s senses were never as focused when it rained, especially on nights like today. The rain pours, it almost stings against his skin. And it’s loud. You don’t have your hearing aids in, so they catch you both by surprise.
It all happens too fast—
In an instant, Matt is being pulled off your arm and slammed against the closest brick alley, and when he hears the click of a gun behind him, he realizes what’s happening. He tries to fight, but before he can make any process, someone is swinging that gun against his head, and when he wakes up, he’s all alone.
He calls out to you and gets no response other than thunder rumbling from miles away. He is filled with nothing but a rage, a determination to find you.
He scrambles for his phone and uses it to call Karen.
“I need you to get Frank.” He tells her, “Please. I.. I don’t know what happened, but.. He took her, I need.. Karen, I need to find her.” He tells her.
Frank is on his way to New York within the hour.

When you wake up, your arms are strapped behind your back in some sort of metal contraption. You can feel the ache in your hands, indicating that you had fought against whoever brought you here. The room is quiet. A small cot in one corner, but the rest of the room is barren.
You’re wearing white pants and a gray muscle tee, with no shoes. You’re suddenly thankful you left your wedding ring at home, so that it might not end up in his hands.
You wait a while, and then the door opens. The Doctor, flanked by two men in heavy armor, holding those batons you’re all too acquainted with, steps into the room. You simply stare, but The Doctor looks like a child on Christmas morning.
But there’s something else to his appearance. His left eye is this bright yellow, and his pupil is a different shape. Green scales travel up his neck and coat the bottom right half of his face, and down his arms, reaching his fingertips. He looks like a monster, but you quickly realize what has happened.
Whatever serum gave you your abilities, was given to him. Only, his was made from that of snakes, not deer.
“My beautiful creation!” He gasps and takes your face in his hand, planting a kiss to your head, right between your antlers. “It’s been too long, you know.” His ‘s’ sounds are elongated, and his teeth are sharper. He has become destroyed by his own mad endeavors. When you don’t respond to his greeting, he continues to speak. “It’s been an eventful few years for you, huh?” When this doesn’t get a response from you, he stands up straight and backs up just a foot. “New job, new name… New husband.” Your head snaps up at that. “What? You think I haven’t been keeping tabs on you and the boy? What do you call him, then? Matthew or Daredevil?”
Your eyes grow wide, unsure how he knows about your husband’s secret hobby.
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” You spit, your gaze hardening into a glare.
“Don’t I? You make quite the couple. The little deaf doe and her crime fighting blind husband.” He laughs, “And they say I like a project.”
“You won’t touch him or I swear to god—”
“Little doe, you misunderstand. I want nothing to do with your husband. I just want you to be the good subject I know you can be.” He tells you. “You and I are the only of our kind. I want to study you, replicate you.”
“You’re going to kidnap more people.”
“You weren’t kidnapped, you volunteered.”
“I won’t do whatever it is you want me to do.” You tell him. “I don’t care, I will escape, I will kill you.”
He shakes his head, taking one of the batons from the guards, before hitting you across the face with it. You groan in pain, turning your head back to glare at him. He sighs.
“I didn’t want to have to do this. But I did anticipate that Husband of yours interrupting things.” He hands the baton back to the guard before telling him. “Take her down the hall and get her ready, alright?”
You struggle your way down the hall, refusing to do whatever is coming to you without a fight. When the guards uncuff you to strap you to this big dentist looking chair, you manage to get out of the grasp of the guard, swinging a punch on him but this newfound advantage is short lived, as the other guard quickly grabs your arms and pushes you against the chair. You’re yelling and thrashing but they manage to get your arms and legs strapped down to the chair.
Your heartbeat is racing, and quietly, only in your mind, you beg. But not for mercy. Not from The Doctor. You beg Matt to come find you. Because you know that you do not stand a chance on your own, but maybe he could find you. He had to find you.
The Doctor sits in a chair next to you and holds up a small purple vial.
“This is hallucinogenic snake venom, mixed with a duller version of the serum we gave you. What this will do is allow me to go into your memories and alter them.” He explains as if you’re getting a simple procedure done. Tears fill your eyes.
“You’re going to make me forget him?” You ask, your voice breaking.
The Doctor hushes you softly, wiping your tears softly.
“Oh, no, little doe. I’m going to change what you do remember about him to make you hate him.”

Six months is a long time to be without your wife. For anyone, no matter who it is.
For Matt Murdock, it’s absolute torture. He spends all day half paying attention to his work while trying to research who The Doctor is. He spends all night trying to find you.
Frank lives, breathes, eats and sleeps to find you. He’s still technically a wanted man, so he pretty much stays under the radar as he looks for you. You remind him of a lot of guys he knew in the army, of himself.
Karen busies herself with research, looking through cases of old files at The Bulletin to try and see if there are any tips or stories that could maybe be connected to where you are. She gets about as little sleep as Matt.
And Foggy has the most important job of all.
Making sure Matt doesn’t kill himself in the process of trying to find you. Because for the first two months Matt didn’t sleep, hardly ate. And as he deteriorated, Foggy reminded him that to find you, he’d need to stay alive. He needs to shower, he needs to keep going to church, he needs to keep eating. The thought of hearing your heartbeat again keeps him going.
It’s as they’re packing up to go home one night that Frank comes into the office with blood-stained hands. They all know he wouldn’t be here if he didn’t have something, so Karen asks first.
“What? What is it?”
“Buddy of mine found a file. Some private medicinal corporation funding a project for some sort of doctor doing cancer research, upstate.”
The location peaks Matt’s interest, because one of the few things he knows of your first experience is that the lab was in upstate New York.
“Okay, but—” Karen starts, but Frank hands her the file.
“Report shows the guy had scales.” He told her. “And I don’t know what you guys make of that but sounds to me like a side effect similar to the serum that was given to her.”
“Where?” Matt asks.
“Red, just—”
“Give me a god damn address, Frank.” He demands.
“I’ll drive you. Come on, things are probably gonna get wild and I don’t want you going alone.” He told him. Matt agrees, but only because he knows he can’t drive and would wind up walking to you.
“Then let’s go.” Before Frank can argue, Matt is walking out the door and going to get suited up for the journey ahead.

Daredevil is my enemy.
Matt Murdock hates me.
I hate him.
We were never really in love with each other.
These are the thoughts that echo through your mind as you wait for your next round of testing. The six-month mark is pivotal, The Doctor tells you time and time again.
Overall, you’ve made tremendous progress. He tells you that within weeks, other serums will be ready to test on new subjects. Maybe then, he tells you, he’ll promote you from just being a soldier.
Maybe.
You almost don’t hear the alarm going off somewhere in the distance. Of course, you don’t. The serum has never helped your hearing.
The way you remember it, Daredevil, a man who once claimed to love you, fought you to the point that he destroyed the nerves in your hands, destroyed your hearing. It’s fuzzy now, but you know this: The Doctor helped you. He put you back together.
But you do hear the alarm, eventually. It concerns you; it means someone has broken into the building. Your thoughts linger on the masked vigilante that haunts your nightmare. You’re getting stronger to defeat him, The Doctor says.
It’s a cool summer night when whoever it is broke in, breaks down your door. You immediately stand, quickly identifying Frank Castle, a grin breaking across your face. Closely behind, you identify a man in red.
Your heartbeat races, but you just stare at the pair.
Matt strips off his helmet and approaches you, wanting to make sure this was real. That you were real. His hands find your cheeks, and tears fill his eyes. He says your name gently.
“I found you, I’ve got you…”
You blink, unsure of what sort of cruel teasing that was.
Because in an instant, your glare hardens and you’re pushing him against a wall, starting to throw punches at him. He’s too far in shock to react, but Frank is pulling you off of him, and you’re struggling against him.
“Let me go! I need to kill him! He’s evil, he needs to die!” You cry, and Matt is just saying your name softly, in absolute disarray. What had they done to you, his sweet girl?
Frank pins you down to the ground, unsure of why you, a woman he had perceived to be so in love with the man behind him, are so adamant that he dies.
“Enough, Enough!” He barks, grabbing your chin and forcing you to look at Matt. “That is your husband, girl. Stop acting like he’s torturing you when he is not the one whose been experimenting on you for six months!”
“Let me go, I need him gone! He’s cruel, He’s a monster!” You cry, and Matt has started crying. Putting you both out of your misery, Frank hits you in a way that knocks you right out. Matt goes over to your now unconscious form and pets your hair.
“Why was she—”
“I don’t know.. I just don’t know, red. Let’s get her out of here to figure it out, okay?” Matt just nods and grabs his helmet, slipping it on so Frank can’t see him crying anymore.

If you had a nickel for every time you woke up tied to a chair, you’d have more nickels than you had fingers.
Today is no different.
You’re surrounded by people you don’t recognize. And one you do. Your angry glare stays on him, and he looks upset by it.
You’re unsure why. You’re so sure he just wanted you dead.
The blonde woman in front of you says your name softly. When your gaze shifts to her, you notice her soft eyes.
“How do you know my name?” You ask.
She frowns.
“It—Because we’re good friends.”
“I don’t know you.”
“You don’t… My name is Karen.” She says softly. She goes over to a nearby shelf, pulling out a picture frame and showing it to you. “Here, that’s you and me. At your wedding.”
“My wedding? The one that he set up just to hurt me?”
Matt remembers you telling him that you had never been happier than when you were getting ready for your wedding.
There’s two other men, one held you down while you were meant to kill Matt, but the other one.. You vaguely remember him standing next to Matt when you got married.
He speaks next.
“Matt and Frank, they found these vials in one of the labs. We think the man that took you used it to... to alter your memories.”
“Why would The Doctor do that? He helped me.” You tell them, unsure what to make of this whole situation. Matt is growing extremely frustrated because he knows just how scared you were of that monster.
“Untie her.” Matt tells Frank, and everyone looks at him like he’s crazy. Including you because you know that you’ll just try and kill him. “Do it,” he tells him again and very hesitantly, Frank does untie you. When you’re free from the rope, you step forward to go towards Matt, but Frank grabs your arm.
“Don’t,” he says. But then, Matt reaches for Frank’s gun on the nearby table and hands it to you. Odd choice for a man you want to kill.
“Go ahead.” He tells you, facing you now. “Shoot me, kill me if that’s what you really want to do.” He says. You stare at the gun in your hand for a second, before holding it properly and aiming it at Matt. Everyone waits with bated breath to see what you’ll do.
Pull the trigger, you tell yourself, The Doctor’s voice echoing around your head. He hurt you, the voice says. He needs to die.
And yet, you just stare at the man on the other end of the gun, trying to build up the courage to kill him. To kill the man that for months you have been taught needs to die. That you have memories of hurting you, of maiming you.
Your hand tremors as tears fill your eyes, until you eventually drop your arm, so the gun isn’t pointing at him anymore.
“Look at the photo of you and Karen,” Matt tells you, “You have hearing aids in the photo. I didn’t do that to you, you got into a bad accident, you got sick and that’s how you lost your hearing. I had nothing to do with that. You even had your powers before me, you didn’t just get them in the past six months. The Doctor is an evil man who just wanted to torture people and turn them into science experiments.” He tells you, and you want to tell him to stop, that it’s not true. But something in you tells you not to. “I love you,” he says gently, and you flinch away from him when he says this.
It breaks his heart into a million pieces. Absolutely shatters it.
“I don’t know you.” You tell him.
Sensing that Matt doesn’t know what to say to that, Frank steps forward.
“Hey. I’m Frank, you remember me?”
“You pinned me down when you found me.” He sighs softly.
“Yeah, well.. You have memories of when the two of you got married, right? So those are real memories… What about the ones of him hurting you? Do they look any different?”
You take a moment to close your eyes and really focus on the memory you have so closely attached to the man in red. They’re.. Filmy. Like they have a filter on them or like glass shimmering in the sun.
Tears fall from your eyes as you open them, your hand quickly coming up to wipe your tears.
“I think we did enough for now.. She needs to rest.” The man whose name you don’t know, but he has this shaggy blonde hair. Then this question comes up in everyone’s mind—Where will you stay?
“I’ll take the couch,” Matt says, “You take the bed.” You don’t know how comfortable you are with being alone with Matt in this apartment, even if the memories are fake. They feel pretty real.
“I don’t know if—” Karen starts.
“I.. It’s fine..” you say softly, and that fills Matt with a fraction of hope. “It’s just over night.”
Frank sighs softly, taking his gun off the table and glancing at Matt.
“We’re only a phone call away, alright?” Karen tells him.
It feels sort of awkward that they only talk to him as if you can’t hear them. Well, you can’t hear them very well, but you can hear.
“There’s clothes for you in the bedroom,” Matt tells you, “Go take a shower and I’ll walk them to the door.” Very reluctant to turn your back on Matt, you make your way to the bedroom to gather your clothes and go to shower.
You really haven’t had a good shower in six months, so it’s nice to wash the dirt off your skin and from beneath your fingernails. You spend a long time under the hot shower, letting it burn your skin. Your whole life has been turned upside down because you’re slowly coming to terms with the fact that Matt Murdock isn’t your sworn enemy, and that maybe.. he just.. does like you..
Meanwhile, Matt walks the others out, or at least to the door, hesitant to go too far from you.
Foggy glances back to him before he leaves, curiously.
“How did you know she wouldn’t shoot you?”
He hesitates.
“I didn’t.” he says softly. “I just trusted that somewhere within her, my wife still loves me.”

Later that night, you stare out the window of his apartment at that bright billboard. You gaze at it curiously, and hear Matt call your name gently behind you. In his hands, he holds your hearing aids.
You put them on, and just look at him for a few minutes.
“You kept them?”
“I never stopped looking for you..” He told you. “I prayed every night hoping to hear your heartbeat again.” He tells you, and you don’t know what to make of it. He seems so devoted to you, yet you have these memories of him beating you until you’re close to death.
“I’m sorry I can’t be in love with you the way you want me to be.”
He shrugs gently.
“In sickness and in health, right?”
“And in torture and memory alteration.”
“Same thing.”
For the first time in six months, you smile.
Maybe your husband isn’t such a bad guy.
You can only hope he’ll love you long enough for you to get your shit together and not want to kill him anymore.

Memories are a tricky thing.
You decide to spend your days with Frank, hunting down various people who worked with The Doctor. You talk a lot about your memories with him. And no matter what, at the end of the day, you have dinner with Matt.
One night, he brings home Thai Food.
“We had this for our first date,” he recalls. “You got pad Thai, your favorite.” You try to recall the memory.
“You wore a nice blue button up, right?” You say softly. He smiles gently and nods.
“Yeah. I did.” He says gently.
“Can..” You hesitate. “Can you tell me more about it? Our life together? I can’t.. discern between what’s real and fabricated.” You’re making new memories, sure, but you know he misses the life the two of you had together.
But he’s caught off guard by your request. For the past few weeks, you’ve been hesitant to indulge in any memories you think might be real.
“You used to work for me.” He tells you. “Not in a weird way, but our office is small. We fell in love over Thai food and opening statements.”
“Why did you want to marry me?”
He hesitates for a second, not wanting to scare you off.
“Because I love you.” He tells you. “Because when you were with me, it was the closest thing I’d ever knew to peace.” He confesses.
“Oh..”
“Yeah.” He takes another bite of his food. “You know if you have a memory and you don’t know if it’s real, you can always ask.”
You smile softly.
“Thanks.” There’s a soft silence that fills the room before you ask, “I have this memory of us in bed, with you running your hand through my hair.. Your fingers tracing these antlers I have.. Is that real?”
“Yeah, it is..” He promised. “I have a thing about textures and your hair is soft.”
“I’m glad.” You smile. This is nice. This gentleness that’s between you. It’s a softness you aren’t used to, one that you don’t know if you’d ever quite get used to.
Later that night, when you were meant to be fast asleep, you wake up with a startling gasp in bed. You look around panicked. You don’t quite know who you’re looking for..
Until Matt comes into the room, a concerned look on his face.
“Are you okay?” He asks, and this calmness washes over you.
“Yeah..”
“Okay. Okay, good, I’ll be in the living room if you need me.” He says softly. He’s been so good to you, sleeping on the couch for so many weeks. He goes to leave, but you call out to him. He turns back to you.
“Can you stay with me?” You ask.
“Yeah, of course.” He says softly, climbing into bed with you. You think for a second, before shifting a bit, resting your head against his chest. You listen to the gentle thud of his heartbeat, as his hand finds your back, gently rubbing up and down. “Do you want to talk about it?”
He isn’t dumb—He knows you have nightmares. And that on the nights that you do, you’re quieter and more avoidant of him. It’s a bad habit, one you want to break. Because you recognize that your dreams aren’t real.
Matt has never done anything to you, and you’re sure of this.. For the most part. Sometimes when you wake up, you must reorient yourself and remind yourself that Matt has no malicious intent towards you and no reason to hurt you.
But it takes you a few minutes to accomplish this. On those mornings, you tend to keep your distance from him, and because Matt wants nothing but your happiness, he stays away from you. But tea is always placed in front of you, and he never strays far from you.
“Not really.” You finally answer. There’s another beat of silence. “We went as the couple from The Princess Bride for our first Halloween together.. Real or not real?”
“Real.” He confirms.
“You broke my nose once during an argument. Real or not real?”
“Not real.” He tells you. “I would never hurt you. Even when we used to fight at the gym, it was always for practice, never to do actual damage. And when we would spar, it would always end with us going home and taking a hot bath.”
You close your eyes, trying to recall that particular memory. When you find it, your face flushes with this unfamiliar heat.
“You’re still trying to protect me even though I wanted you dead... Real or not real?”
“Real.” He doesn’t even hesitate. He’s not sure if you’ve realized it yet, but he’d rather die than put you anywhere close to being in danger. His hand continues to trace patterns into your skin, as you think about his response.
You fall asleep like this, close to the man who you’re realizing has never intended to hurt you a day in your life.

The day you realize you’re in love with your husband is horrifying.
Which seems like a crazy accusation to make, and yet, you feel nothing but horror when you realize that you are desperate for him. Which is insane, because you’ve been living with him for two months when you realize you are desperate to kiss him like you’re drowning and need air.
It happens at the office. You decided to cook, because you remember really liking it, and to say thank you for all he’s done for you, you want to bring lunch to Matt at work. So you make this really delicious chicken pesto pasta, and you pick up sodas to go along with it. Matt gets the following text:
‘Your favorite soda is Dr. Pepper. Real or not real?’
Five minutes later, you get a response.
‘Real. Yours is sprite.’
You pick up a bottle of each and head over to his office. You’ve been there a few times before, but mostly it was because Frank needed to talk to Karen about something, but lately you’ve found yourself wanting to go to the office just to see Matt.
Matt is surprised when he hears the familiar beat of your heart on the other side of the door. He can also hear the slight buzz of your hearing aids.
“Sweetheart, you can come in.” He calls, but you hesitate even further. Not because you’re confused as to why he knows it’s you, but because your brain sort of short circuits when he calls you the pet name. But after a few minutes, you walk into the room and place lunch on his desk, as well with your drinks.
“Do you like pesto?”
“We had pesto pasta at our wedding.” Oh.
“So you do?”
“Yeah, I do. Especially the way you make it.”
“Oh, good.” You smile and sit at the chair on the other side of the desk. “Because I made chicken pesto pasta for lunch and figured you might want some.”
“Well, thank you for thinking of me.”
There’s a quiet calm between the two of you.
“This is a pretty killer first date, huh?” This makes Matt laugh, because in his mind, your first date was eating Thai food and listening to music. But this isn’t bad either.
“Well, Chivalry must be dead then, because I didn’t even buy you flowers.” He hums, and you tilt your head.
“I don’t remember you ever buying me flowers.” He frowns at this.
“Well, I’m going to have to fix that.”
And that’s how the afternoon goes. You sit with Matt in his office, eating a homemade chicken pasta and falling in love with him. As you go to leave, he asks you what you have planned for the day.
“I have some errands to run, but I should be home to make dinner.” And for a moment, Matt forgets all that’s happened, and he lets himself believe that you have all your memories of him perfectly intact and no one’s ever made you think otherwise.
You get back to the apartment a few hours later, and just as you’re unpacking your groceries, there’s a knock at the door. When you open it, a delivery man stands with a bouquet of flowers. Your face is warm as you sign off on them.
As you put them in their vase, you notice a note attached to it. You catch yourself grinning as you read his little note, that reads ‘I’ll buy you flowers until I’m old and wrinkly. Real.’
The urge to run back to the office and kiss him overwhelms you.
So you call Frank.
This leads to the pair of you, sitting at a booth in a diner, nursing coffees and toast.
“I hope you didn’t call me here just to complain about married life.” He tells you, making a joke out of the thing that terrifies you.
“No, I just wanted you to sit here talking to a chick with antlers so you can look like more of a freak than you already are.” You tease.
It gets you both laughing. These moments, in between all the nightmares and all of the filmy memories, fill you with a light you can’t quite describe.
“So, why’d you really call me to meet up?” He asks. “I have to assume you don’t just want to chitchat.”
“I think I’m in love with Matt.” You tell him. He raises an eyebrow.
“What? Why does that sound like you think it’s a problem?” He asks.
“I don’t know.” You confess. “It’s like I don’t want to love him, like a part of me still believes he’s the bad guy. I know he does.. Besides, I was so awful to him for so long. I pointed a gun at him and he still comforts me every night. What if I don’t deserve this?” You ask. “What if I don’t deserve him?”
Frank actually laughs—Okay, not like a giggle or a belly laugh, but it gets a good chuckle out of him.
“You and Red with that shit—Questioning if you’ve done enough for something good to happen to you. With the ‘Do I deserve this?’ and the ‘Am I worthy of this?” He shakes his head. “All that shit is irrelevant. Do you want it? Do you want to be with him?”
Tears fill your eyes as you realize what that means.
“You and him, you love each other like breathing, and I know you don’t quite get that yet, but it’s the same reason you didn’t shoot him that day. Something in you knows that you love him and deserve his love.” Frank is speaking from experience, because he knows that no matter what he’s done, he knows he deserves one more kiss from his wife.
But he’ll never get that chance.
He hopes Matt does.

It takes you a long time to make your way back to the apartment. When you get there, Matt immediately stands from his place on the couch and has this look of concern etched across his face.
“Is everything okay?” he asks gently, “Your heart is racing, I just want to make sure you’re safe and—"
“I’m fine.” You smile gently. “Really, I… Thank you for the flowers.” You tell him. His face softens.
“You like them?”
“I love them, Matt.” You confess. “I’ve spent.. So long trying to rationalize everything, sort out the real things from the things that aren’t..” You’re not too sure what you’re trying to say. “I just.. I want.. I want to try. I want to try and be with you, I’m ready for that. I’m ready to be happy with you..”
He hesitates. Not because he doesn’t want to, because he doesn’t want you, but he is worried that you’re only saying these things because you feel like you might owe him. You don’t. You don’t owe him anything other than what you want to give him, and he is desperate for you to know that.
“Sweetheart, You don’t.. I don’t need.. I don’t need you to pretend like you want me just because I’ve taken care of you. It’s more than enough to just—”
Matt is cut off by his first kiss from you in eight months. Your hands rest on the sides of his cheeks, and his arms are quickly around your torso. The kiss is passionate but soft at first—Until you push deeper, desperate to be as close as you can to him. Your hand even comes up to pull off his glasses to see his eyes.
Without thinking, you pull away from him only for your hand to come down to the hem of his shirt, going to pull it off.
“Off, off, off, off—” You softly request, and he just laughs, taking your hand in his, pressing a kiss to the back of it.
“Stop. Wait.” He says gently. “I just.. I want to make sure you actually want this.. That you really want me.”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
“You’ve been reserved for the past two months, rightfully so, but now you want to sleep with me.. I don’t want you to do something you’ll regret. Or something you do just because you feel lonely or bad that I—” You cut him off with another kiss, breaking it shortly after.
“I want you. I want to rebuild my life with you. I want to create new, untainted memories.. It won’t be easy, but I want to be with you.” You confess. “I want countless summer nights, I want you to be there for all the nightmares, I.. I want to give you the same peace you’ve been trying to give me.”
You’re both crying and you don’t quite know why. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a gold band. He slips it onto your fingers and kisses you again. He holds the hand with your wedding ring on it as he leads you into the bedroom. Into your life together. Into your arms. Where you were meant to be.
The next morning, you lay in the quiet of your apartment, the silk sheets tickling your skin. You focus on Matt’s breathing. He traces patterns into your skin.
“What are you thinking about?” You ask, and he takes a moment to answer.
“You.” He says gently. “You’re all I’ve been thinking about for three years.” He says gently. Then, when you don’t say anything, “Our anniversary was two months ago..” You know he misses the life you could have had together.
The life that he had planned out for the pair of you in his head. The life that oh so quietly, he longs for. The one without nightmares, supplemented by the laughter of any potential children you might have.
“I could get used to thinking about you, too, you know.” And it makes him laugh, as you lean up and bite his shoulder gently, before placing a kiss to that same patch of skin. He swats your arm gently before the pair of you break down into giggles.
“In the future, if you ever.. don’t want to do that, you don’t have to.”
“I know.” You tell him.
A comfortable silence fills the air again.
“I’m so happy you came back to me.” He says gently. “I was.. I spent so long worried that.. that we’d spend years just trying to find our footing again. That you wouldn’t get better..” For the second time tonight, you cut off his overthinking with a kiss.
“I love you.” You tell him when you’re finally ready to pull away. The morning light shines into the apartment, giving Matt this glowing effect. He practically shimmers in the golden light, and you just take a moment to commit the look of him to memory.
You try and take your time, studying him. He’s so beautiful this time of day.
“Real or not real?” He asks you softly, as one hand snakes up to your hair, his fingers gently running through it.
You lean forward and place a soft kiss to his lips.
“Real.”

I blew things out of proportion, now you're blue
Put you in jail for something you didn’t do
I pinned your hands behind your back, oh
Thought I had reason to attack, but no
Fighting with a true love is boxing with no gloves
Chemistry 'til it blows up, 'til there’s no us
Why'd I have to break what I love so much?
It's on your face, and I'm to blame, I need to say
The door slammed behind Matt in a fitful rage, and he was so pissed off, so intense in his anger that he wanted to turn around and slam it again, just to lash out a second time. It was so unlike him to be this way, so unlike him to allow the festering wound that was his soul show itself so plainly, but it had been a long night, long year, long life and he was fucking tired.
And you. You. You. You. You’d been caught in the crossfire.
“Fuck.” Matt breathed, already regretting the argument that he’d started simply because he hadn’t been able to reel the Devil back in after a long night. The tight leash he held on the part of him that he hated, the part of him that you’d never seen because he’d hidden it so deep inside himself every night, was a ghost in his hands. The line between Matthew the person and Daredevil the vigilante had been blurring for months, but tonight was the first time he’d let it slip through the careful facade he’d been constructing around himself. He was a shattered window, ready to break at the slightest bit of pressure.
The cold sliced into Matt’s skin as he stepped through the doorway at the front of his building, a sobering chill of wind that triggered the memory of your eyes welling with tears. He’d been relentless in his anger, and what for? Because he had a bad night? Because he couldn’t save everyone, and somehow that was your fault?
Asshole is the word you’re looking for, Matthew.
Matt groaned and pulled his phone out of his pocket, dialing Foggy’s number before he could talk himself out of it.
“It’s three in the morning, Matt.” Foggy said by way of greeting, voice still heavy with sleep. “You’re not somewhere dying are you?”
“Only metaphorically.” Matt replied, shuffling his feet. He lowered himself to sit on the stairs beneath him, huffing as his body settled against the concrete. The metal of the railing dug into his temple as he rested his head against it, an uncomfortable reminder that the only person to blame for this was himself.
“You okay?” Foggy’s tone had shifted from a sleepy annoyance to somewhat concerned.
Matt closed his eyes. He didn’t deserve the love he received from his friends.
“I’m-” He started, but cut himself off when he realized he had no idea what he was going to say. Was he okay? No, he didn’t think so.
“You’re kinda freaking me out here, man.”
“I fucked up, Foggy.” He deflated as he admitted it.
“With her?” Foggy pressed.
“With her. With everything.” Matt shrugged, blinking away the tears burning the back of his eyes. Your sudden return to his thoughts felt like whiplash, and he couldn’t catch his breath. “She deserves better than me.”
“Matt,” Foggy chided, and Matt could tell he was shaking his head, “Don’t say that. She loves you.”
“Maybe not anymore.” Matt knew how ridiculous and juvenile he sounded, but the Matthew-Murdock-party-of-one pity party was in full effect, and he was leaning into the sad corner of his being so aggressively he couldn’t stop himself from saying it.
“She loves you.” Foggy repeated. “I don’t think anything could change that. What happened?”
“I had a bad night and yelled at her. It was stupid and I feel like an ass-”
“An asshole.” Foggy finished, and Matt couldn’t stop the chuckle that followed this observation. “Listen, did you tell her any of this?”
“Not yet.” The longer Matt sat, the more he hated himself for leaving. The words he had shouted echoed in his mind. “She should just leave. I’m never going to be able to give her what she deserves.”
“What about what you deserve, Matt?” Foggy asked, heated in the defense of his very best friend, “You deserve to be loved, too.”
Matt sat with Foggy’s statement for a second, letting the love wash over him for the briefest moment. Is this what it’s like for the kind of people who can easily accept the love of others? His body felt warm and fuzzy, an unfamiliar but comforting sensation that had him rubbing the heel of his hand across his chest.
“I should go apologize and hope to God she’ll take me back.” Matt sighed.
“She will, Matt.” Foggy assured him. “She will.”
Matt returned the phone to his pocket and turned, heading back into the place that held his entire aching heart.
It's so excruciating to see you low
Just wanna lift you up and not let you go
This ultraviolet morning light below
Tells me this love is worth the fight, oh
I lived like an island, punished you with silence
Went off like sirens, just crying
Why'd I have to break what I love so much?
It’s on your face, don't walk away, I need to say
Hey, it's all me, in my head
I'm the one who burned us down
But it's not what I meant
Sorry that I hurt you
When Matt reentered the apartment, it had only been twenty minutes since he’d stormed out, but it had felt like hours. You were in the same place that he’d left you - curled up in a sitting position on the sofa - except now your cheeks were coated with salty tears that permeated the air around you. Matt tasted them on his tongue the second he opened the door, a twinge of pain shooting through his chest as he realized just how bad the situation was. You were so deep in thought, cycling through the words Matt had spat at you, that you hadn’t noticed his arrival.
“Petal?” Matt called softly, alerting you to his presence in the room. You startled, turning to look in his direction. The silence before you responded was deafening and anxiety inducing, something Matt had never handled well. He wrung his hands together and took a step closer to you. Finally, you spoke.
“You came back.”
Not a question, but not really a statement either. A simple observation that left Matt stumbling over his words.
“I uh…never really left. I was just downstairs.” He scratched the back of his neck. “On the steps out front. I didn’t go far.”
“I thought you weren’t coming back.”
Matt’s lip wobbled as he inhaled sharply and asked, “Do you want me to go?”
He wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer to that question. He listened to your answer anyway. He would listen to any words you had to offer, even if they were words that might kill him.
“You said some terrible things, Matt.” You sniffled, sighing heavily as another wave of tears coated your cheeks. “You said ‘If you can’t handle this, I don’t think we should be together anymore.’ And the funny thing is, I don’t even know what I’m supposed to be handling.”
“Petal, I-” Matt began, shaking his head.
“No, Matt.” Your voice had suddenly become very firm and very loud, all at once. Matt flinched. “I’m not finished.” You adjusted your body, leaning your head back against the sofa before continuing. “I don’t know who you are anymore. My Matty would never keep things from me or disappear for days at a time or yell at me. The man I fell in love with is missing, and I don’t know what to do to get him back.”
The hold Matt had on his tears was obliterated as you admitted your feelings to him. Warm tears fell down his face, every droplet an admission of guilt. You were right, of course. Matt hadn’t felt like himself in months, and instead of trying to get a grip on himself, he had been leaning into the suit every night, forcing his mind to focus on other things. He always took on the brunt of the pain in any situation - he’d been doing this his entire life - but he had not realized how much of that pain was being transferred to you every time he forgot himself.
“Baby, I’m- I can’t even say how sorry I am.” Matt sank to his knees in front of you, pleading. “You’re right about everything, and I’m sorry. I’m sorry I can’t be good enough for you or come home to you after work like a normal boyfriend would and I’m sorry for the things I said. I never wanted to hurt you the way I did. I will never, ever, deserve your love.” He swallowed a sob as he admitted what he thought was the truest thing he’d ever said out loud. “Foggy told me I deserve love but I’ve thought and thought about it and I can’t imagine a world where your love will ever feel like anything but a gift to me.”
You sighed again, sniffling as you lifted your hand to cradle Matt’s wet cheek.
“I know I’m fucking it up. I’m sorry I can’t be more. This is all I have to offer, and I know it’s selfish to ask you to keep loving me but I can’t be without you. You’re all I have.”
“I don’t understand, Matty.” You shook your head, furrowing your brows.
“You’re the only thing that brings me home. And I don’t mean physically. You’re the only reason I can find my way back to myself. You remind me of the love the world is capable of. Not even Foggy can do that for me the way that you do. Can’t you see that you’re it for me? Without you, I am just a man walking hand in hand with the Devil. There is no point without you.”
“Matty.” You sighed, caressing his cheekbones as tears cascaded down his face.
Matt wasn’t sure what he wanted you to say. That he did deserve love, or maybe that you weren’t going to leave him after tonight was over, or maybe anything besides ‘I don’t love you anymore’.
“Don’t leave me.” He begged, barely above a whisper, so tired of the war raging in his mind. If there was anything he was capable of doing tonight, it was pleading with you for this. Beyond that, he was useless. “Don’t leave.”
“Will you lay with me?” You asked, and Matt nearly collapsed into your hold. It was not what he was expecting, but he would take it. The inevitable self-hatred and doubt about this moment echoed in the back of his mind, but he was ignoring it for once. All he wanted to do was lay with you, so that’s exactly what he did.
Tell me that you're still mine
Tell me that we'll be just fine
Even when I lose my mind
I need to say
Tell me that it's not my fault
Tell me that I'm all you want
Even when I break your heart
I need to say
I don't wanna do, I don't wanna do this to you (Ooh)
I don't wanna lose, I don't wanna lose this with you (Ooh)
I need to say, hey, it's all me, just don't go
Meet me in the afterglow
Matt was on the verge of tears again, lying next to you in the bed that you had shared with each other for so many nights. He was so afraid of losing this, losing you. He wasn’t entirely sure he would survive if you asked him to leave after this. He wasn’t entirely sure that mindset was healthy, either, but that didn’t stop him from contemplating it. He was here, and you were here, and if he was destined to live in this doubt forever, then at least he would die next to you.
Your tears had long dried up, but the ache deep inside you was palpable and overwhelming and he didn’t know what to do. The hand you had led him here with, the one that you still held, the only thing connecting your body to his was his safety blanket. This was what people called a safe space, he thought. For the first time in a long time, Matt began to silently pray.
He prayed for you, and he prayed for himself, and mostly, he prayed for love. He prayed that the night would last forever, so that he could lay next to you for the remainder of his life. He prayed for forgiveness, and begged for yours. He prayed for the strength it would take if you didn’t grant it to him. Because if you asked him to leave, he would. It would hurt and possibly - no, definitely - kill him, but he’d do it, because you deserved that, at least. The possibilities of the night were endless, and that was the scariest thing to Matt. Anything could happen.
“What are you thinking about?” You asked, lightly squeezing his hand.
“I’m praying.” He murmured, squeezing your hand back.
“About what?”
“About you.”
“Oh, Matty.”
The smile on your face, the steady thump of your elevated heart rate, felt like a win. Comfortable silence overtook the room, and you were so still for so long that anyone else might’ve thought you had fallen asleep, but Matt knew better. You were thinking, contemplating every word that had been shouted, pleaded, and begged tonight. All the while, Matt prepared himself for the worst.
“The sun’s coming up.” You murmured.
“Yeah?” It was all he could muster. Everything hurt, and he never wanted this moment to end.
“Yeah.” You swept your fingertips over his cheeks, following the path of the sun as it draped itself across both of your bodies.
Matt swallowed, opened his mouth to ask the dreaded question, and then closed it and swallowed again. The gentle caress of your fingers felt like a brand in his skin. Finally, in a thick voice he asked for the second time in a matter of hours, “Do you want me to go?”
“Oh, Matty.” You whispered, tears welling in your eyes, and Matt’s heart sank into the ground below him. He thought he could do this, but he couldn’t. He was just supposed to leave what you had built with him? After everything, he was just supposed to count his losses and move on? No fucking way. His breathing had picked up, and he was so focused on his pounding heart that he almost missed the rest of your sentence. “I never wanted you to go. I just wanted you to understand how lonely I’ve been without you. I’m upset with you, but I’ll always love you, and I’ll never be the one asking you to leave.”
Matt stopped breathing for a moment, soaking in the warm relief as it crashed through him. He didn’t have to go, and you loved him. You loved him. You loved him.
“Are you sure?” He forced himself to ask, even though it was the last thing he wanted to do.
You let out a small giggle and pressed your lips to his forehead before responding. “Of course I’m sure, Matty. But it has to change, okay? We can’t do this to each other again.”
Matt could hardly believe the words coming out of your mouth. He would do anything to keep you here, holding him, keeping him safe, loving him. Anything.
“I promise.” He murmured, grabbing at your face to pull it closer to his. “I love you.”
He pressed a million kisses into your face until you let out the melodic laugh that he felt he could get drunk on. He would do anything to hear that sound again, to be the one causing that sound. Anything.

Blind With Rage
Description: Whilst you've handled witness interviews alone before, as part of your work at Nelson and Murdock, you know that Matt's always close by and all-too ready to step in if you ever need him.
A/N: He protect. He attack. He is a snack 😅...
Tumblr media
Warnings: Angst, mentions of violence, mentions of crime, swearing, Matt being a full-on protective baby XD
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Being a lawyer, you were used to visiting clients in rough places. Prisons, holding cells in local stations, and even crime scenes - you’d been to them all.
Even with a vigilante for a boyfriend, and rather unorthodox client base, there wasn’t much that could surprise you. Working at Nelson and Murdock, Attorneys at Law, had pretty much ensured it.
Still, this morning’s meeting had gone pear shaped and you’d barely seen it coming.
You’d only been sat with a possible witness for you latest client’s case for about five minutes, before it had happened. Matt had been running late at the time and Foggy was out of the room, talking to officers in the corridor, leaving you alone with the man opposite you - which was totally fine. After all, you'd handled witness statements alone before and it wasn't like there wasn't a dozen officers in the building with you if anything did go wrong.
Also, you only had a couple questions that needed to be asked before you could go back about your merry way and possibly swipe a quick lunch on your route back to the office. If anything, you were more concerned about your choice of sandwich than the petty thief sat on the other side of the table.
He'd so far been cooperative, corroborating your client’s story that he had been nowhere near the crime scene when the crime had occurred. Picked up by police after a failed pickpocketing, the man opposite had apparently been near the scene of the crime and confirmed your client was nowhere to be seen. In fact, he was pretty quick to tell you who was around when the crime had occurred and just who he thought might have done it.
"Thanks, Mr Jerome," you’d nodded, scribbling the last of your notes on the yellow legal pad in front of you. "You've been incredibly helpful. My client will really appreciate your testimony."
"Anytime, sugar."
Yep. That was it; That was the moment when things took a turn for the worst.
You could see it now, playing back in your mind in slow motion… the way he’d followed the nickname with a rather crass compliment about how you were looking that day.
His eyes then dropped, roaming up and down your body in a way that just made you feel dirty without even being touched.
And when you’d told him to stop? That the meeting was done? He’d lunged.
Of course, he hadn’t got very far - his handcuffs attached to the table made sure of that. Still, you'd be lying if you said you hadn't jumped at the sudden movement.
You flinched, opening your mouth to say something. However, you never got the chance as the door slammed open behind you with an almighty bang. It was then that you saw who was responsible for the sudden interruption as Matt Murdock came racing into the room so fast it made your head spin.
Wait, when had he got here?
You blinked, staring up at your partner with shock as he reached over and pulled your chair back with a harsh screech, cutting you off from protesting. You could see the fury rolling off of him in waves and for a moment you couldn't be sure it wasn't directed at you.
Thankfully, the source of his rage became clear as he positioned himself in front of you, his focus never leaving the man sat on the other side of the table. He had created a literal human-shield between you, a silent challenge against your would-be assailant.
Without a word, his hand reached backwards, hauling you to your feet and frogmarching you from the room. His grip was ironclad.
"Matt."
"Y/N, don't."
"Wait, Matt," you barked, "Let go of me, I had it under control-"
"-Of course you did, Sweetheart. Wait here," he ordered, his tone lethal as he addressed the police officer waiting for you both in the hall. It was clear you weren't going to be allowed anywhere near that room again and that he was holding this poor officer responsible for ensuring that was the case.
A sudden urge to argue roared up from inside of you, but you bit your tongue as Matt released you. You didn't need to ask if he was ok. It was clear he wasn't from the concerned pull of his brow. If you didn't know any better, you'd have said he was actually worried about you.
"I'll be back in a minute. Mr Jerome and I need to have a quick word - stay here with Foggy."
You weren't entirely sure if talking was actually Matt's plan, given the way his hands were clenched at his side. Still, no one made a move to stop him as he marched back into the room you'd just come from, slamming the door behind him hard enough to make the two-way glass rattle.
He'd always had a flair for the dramatic.
"Wow."
Wow indeed, you thought, staring across the room at Foggy. The fact the other lawyer looked like he was trying not to laugh made it clear what he thought about the entire exchange.
"Whatever sassy joke you're about to make, Nelson, just don't," you grumbled, your cheeks burning in embarrassment.
“I wasn't going to make a joke,” Foggy scoffed, his shit-eating grin only growing as Matt's furious voice echoed from the other side of the wall.
"-You feel like a tough guy, huh? Picking on other people? You utter piece of sh-"
The both of you winced at the sudden flurry of colourful expletives.
Tumblr media
“I mean, I’m sure Matt would have thrown himself just as chivalrously in front of me if some sleazy douchebag made a gross comment about me.”
You eyes were rolling before he even finished the sentence. “Foggy? Shut the hell up.”

Foggy: They had a fight.
Frank: Then why are they holding hands?

Hi lizzi!
How are you? I hope well.
I saw that your request box is open so I thought why not send one in
Hear me out, what reader goes to the office to see Matt and he's all alone in the office, so they fuck around but Matt isn't paying attention to sense and he doesn't hear foggy just down the hallway and Matt pull out of reader right when they were about to cum and he makes her go under his desk while he tries to look decent.
So when foggy goes to Matt's office, reader pulls out his cock and starts to suck him off while he's talking to foggy and he's trying not to make a face or sound of pleasure, so after foggy leaves Matt punishes reader
Please and thank you 💋
My dear, that request made me very... unwell. Thank you so much for sliding into my inbox and bringing the filth! I apologize for the wait but had to get in the Matt mood again. Well, needless to say, this really did get me in the mood again. I hope you like it!

18+ From Here On Out...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With every harsh thrust of his cock into your tight walls, the desk underneath you creaks. You can see the legs shaking alongside yours through hazy eyes, but you’re too far gone to care whether or not the wood will give out.
The second you came into the office, Matt had you bent over the desk. First, he ate your sweet cunt as if it were the last lunch he would ever have, and then he forced you onto your stomach and started pounding into you. The position repeatedly allows him to brush against your G-spot and reach your cervix, fucking into you at a pace that has you seeing starts, your moans bouncing off the walls, and you lose yourself in the feeling of him, his hands, and his cock. You love lunch times like this. He never leaves you dissatisfied.
Heat wraps around him like a cocoon. Nothing exists in the Nelson & Murdock office but you and him. Your cunt wraps around his cock so impossibly tight, Matt drowns in the feeling. Your moans overtone the noise of the city and he can only smell your sweet arousal in the air, your sweat and your tears of pleasure, and your juices still glistening on his lips. He revels in it. Once he has his hands on you, you’re more than willing to let him do whatever he wants, whatever he needs, and he does so. But he knows well that you wouldn’t hesitate to do the same for him.
Today though, it’s his turn to ruin you, and the empty office made it impossible for him to keep his hands to himself when you came strolling in with that short skirt he fucked you in the day before; it smells like you, and him and sex, and you walk around shamelessly with it as if he can’t smell you five blocks down, or smell the wetness between your legs when you only think about him. You drive him wild with carnal desire, and he wants nothing more than to die between your legs, perhaps even with his cock buried in your velvety walls. He wants nothing more than to fill you up, fuck you until you can’t walk straight, mark you, make you his, tie you down, and ravish you until not a single thought crosses your mind – you’re his little cockdruck slut and he makes sure to tell you that over and over and over again.
You’re a whimpering mess, reaching back to dig your nails into his hips. You’re so wet, so tight; skin slaps against skin, your nipples brush the wood of the table and you cry out again, and his breathing echoes in his ears. His senses are completely attuned to you, focused on your body, for the signs you’re giving him, the sound of your approaching orgasm, your cunt, your tits, your heartbeat, your everything. He feels your pulse jump under his fingers when he hauls you up to choke you, and you moan again. God, he thinks, this would be such a heavenly way to go out.
He doesn’t focus for only a moment, but a moment is all it takes for the bubble to burst. Matt hears Foggy’s footsteps first, then his heartbeat, then his voice, and he has never pulled out of you faster.
The world crashes back into you when your orgasm vanishes, slipping out of your reach, and you gawk at him.
“Matt, what–” you begin, but he presses his hand against your mouth.
He’s still hard, your wetness leaking from his cock, but his unfocused eyes seem panicked. “Get under the desk, now!” he says.
It’s not a game, you can tell.
“What?”
“Foggy.”
“Oh.”
You should have figured that getting carried away during lunch break would be a bad idea.
Matt barely manages to sit down in his chair and fix his hair before his door busts open.
“Matt,” Foggy waltzes in without a care in the world, “you won’t believe what Marci just told me!"
Your knees already hurt, but you can’t switch positions or he might hear you. You come face to face with Matt’s straining erection in his pants, and an idea comes to your mind.
You’re a naughty little thing, his voice echoes in your head, but he promised he would make sure you could both get what you both wanted without getting caught and he failed. You’re desperate, your cunt aching for him, and you need to get off somehow.
Matt sighs at Foggy’s comment. His cheeks are still flushed and he can’t think straight, but he has to appear professional to keep his dignity and yours. “You know what I think about you using your ex as a mo-oh!” His fist hits the desk’s surface.
Your mouth wraps around his cock and you suck, hard. He comes almost right then and there. He didn’t hear you come closer, neither could he anticipate your behavior before it happened and now you’re sucking on his tip, knowing he is beyond sensitive, and Foggy is right there–
“I know,” Foggy says, and he seemingly doesn’t notice the new tension in his friend’s jaw or his hand gripping the edge of his desk. “But you said we needed more information, and you also hate when I bribe Brett– you know, you’re a hypocrite. You beat up bad guys for intel, but when I ask my ex to spy for me in exchange for sex that doesn't harm anyone, may I add, it’s suddenly World War Three. That's not fair! At least I care about... about the environment."
He says some more things, and they probably make sense, but Matt’s cock twitches in your mouth, so dangerously close to combusting, he listens with only half a quarter of an ear.
You take him down your throat fully, ignoring the urge to gag at his size. He tastes salty and slightly like you, his tip leaking pre-cum. He weighs heavy on your tongue, but the obscenity of it all makes you greedy to take him whole. Once you start, you can’t stop. You lick and suck and lick and suck, and he twitches again.
His knuckles turn white around the wood and he casts a glare downward. You’re too lost in the pleasure his reaction is giving you, your hand working on your clit as you shamelessly suck his dick; you’re getting off on it, and it’s worse now that he can taste the molecules in the air.
You’re going to regret this, but you don’t care because it feels too good to stop now. You just want to be naughty for once, get what you want and bring Matt Murdock to his knees.
“Matt?” Foggy snaps his fingers in front of his face.
He doesn’t notice he’s biting his fist until it starts hurting.
“What?” he asks, his voice strained. He twitches in his chair, but he has nowhere to go.
He’s about to come, the sound of your fingers working on your clit following the rushing of the blood in his veins, and that’s enough to cause his balls to tense up under your skilled fingers.
“I said I was gonna check in with Marci,” says Foggy. “Usually, you have something smart to say to me. I’m waiting.”
“Good idea,” Matt says.
“What?”
“Go.”
“Seriously?”
“Go!” It sounds almost like a warning. "Do the- the thing with Marci. Just do it, I don't care. Go do it!"
What his friend says next, he doesn’t register. He only hears the door fall shut, and then he’s coming hard into your hot mouth. You moan as your own orgasm washes over you, which only makes you suck harder, and his forehead falls to the desk as he muffles his howl. His toes curl. You lit the match, threw it on the gasoline, and now he’s burning.
You suckle on his tip until he’s overstimulated and only then do you pull off.
Part of you expects gratitude when you slowly crawl out from under the desk, but once Matt has found back to himself, his face darkens completely. This is not the man you started teasing before Foggy came around, not the gentle nature your boyfriend has reserved only for you – you’re looking into the eyes of a man equally as horny as he is pissed off with you, and you know what that look means.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” he growls.
Oh-oh.
He gets up and towers over you. “Touching yourself like that, sucking my dick like the needy little whore that you are with Foggy in the same room while I was talking to him… How desperate for my cock do you have to be that you have to act like such a slut?”
You wipe your mouth. “Sorry,” you mutter.
He listens to your heartbeat. “No,” Matt chuckles darkly, “You’re a lot of things, sweetheart, but you’re not sorry.”
Next thing you know, your face is pressed against the wall and he cages you in like an animal on the prowl. The blinds are closed, Foggy is gone again, and your skirt lands on the floor. “Such a needy pussy,” he purrs into your ear. “You’re dripping.”
“Fuck, yes,” you moan.
He pulls at your hair. “Don’t even think you’re getting rewarded.”
The slight pain makes you hiss.
“I’m gonna fuck you as hard as I want now, and you’re gonna take it. You know why?”
“I–”
“Tell me.”
“I’ve been a bad girl.”
“That’s right. And what happens to bad girls, baby?”
“They get punished.”
“Exactly, so that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna fuck you until your pussy is full of my cum and then I’ll decide if you deserve to come or not. Are we clear?”
His words shoot straight to your core. You’re not scared, you know how he is, you have a safeword and yet, you’re enjoying this a lot more than you should. “Yes, sir,” you breathe.
When he hears the honorific from your mouth, uttered oh so sweetly close to his ears, he pushes you further into the walls and thrust his cock into you. He doesn’t wait, he sets a ruthless pace from the beginning, and it’s harder than he fucked you before.
Desire drives him to ruin you. Sweat drips off both of your bodies, mingling and turning into an almost toxic mixture. His white shirt is stained wet now, his tie loosened, and when you look over your shoulder to see his slack jaw and his bared teeth, you tighten around his cock. He looks so good, he renders you speechless, useless, everything.
His fingers are sure to leave their bruises, just how you like it. His teeth nip at your neck. His grip tightens around your throat, knocking the air out of your lungs – you can’t breathe. He knows exactly where to press to turn you light-headed, yet needy for more. Your moans get caught in your throat, your nails claw at the wallpaper, and he only picks up speed.
The line between pain and pleasure blurs. You find yourself on the edge in minutes, even without his fingers on your clit. You are so worked up, your body follows him where he wants you to go.
He lowers his mouth to your ear. “Don’t fucking come,” he warns.
You shiver. You’re right there, but you know you have to comply. It hurts, but it’s so good.
His cock twitches, he’s close too, and he wraps his arm around your waist entirely to keep you straight as he fucks up into you and pushed you flat against the wall. You’re his toy to use now, and you let him. The angle drives you to hell and back, his cock brushing where you need him most but you don’t want him there because you are almost there, tethering over the edge and you are sure if he keeps going like that you are going to–
With a loud shout of your name, he comes deep inside of you. You swear you can still taste him on your tongue as he fills you up. He thrusts and thrusts and thrusts until you’re full of his cum, your walls milking everything he has to give and more, but the man knows no mercy.
“Want me to fuck a baby into you?” he pants. “Is that what you want? So desperate for my cum, you need it everywhere, even your mouth? And now you want me to fuck a baby into your pussy?”
Holy shit. Whatever has gotten into him makes you sweat even more when you hear his words.
“Yes!” you cry. “God, yes, Matthew! Please! Please! Please–”
“You need my cum? You need me to fuck you until you’re full of it?”
“Yes.”
“Say it.”
“I need your cum, Matthew! Please, I need it. I want it. I want you– please!”
His palm collides with your ass cheeks and he hisses like a snake on the prowl. “Come for me,” he says.
You instantly lock up. Your muscles tense and you come with a scream; he doesn’t muffle it, he lets you let it out, and his grip is stern as he continues fucking his cum into your quivering pussy. You mewl, but he doesn’t let off. His fingers are everywhere. It burns.
Only when he’s spent and satisfied does he stop, and you almost lose control over your legs.
“Shh,” you hear him whisper into your ear. Gone is the dominant Matt who was about to ready to destroy you. He flicks the switch and he’s fully himself again.
Stroking your hair, he makes sure to be careful when he pulls out. You whimper. He takes you into his arms. “I’m sorry,” Matt says, “Are you okay?”
You’re both panting, sweaty messes, but God, did it feel good.
You can only muster a small nod and he holds you tighter in response. “Breathe,” he reminds you. “I’m here.”
With his fingers in your hair, you slowly find back to yourself. He carries you into his chair with him where he holds you some more, making sure you don’t lose yourself along the way. He offers you water, a tissue, everything, and you don’t feel used, you never could, not when he acts like this whenever he is rough with you.
There is a reason you love him, and it’s not just mind-blowing sex.
“Sorry for sucking your cock while Foggy was in the room,” you murmur, your voice sounded like a drunken slur.
Matt chuckles, which quickly turns into a laugh. “You are so naughty sometimes, you know that?” he says.
You shrug. “Guilty as charged, counselor.”
His lips find your forehead. “My naughty girl.”
“Yours.”
“Mine.”
You love Matt Murdock and you wouldn’t trade him for the world. You are gladly his because you know, no matter how dominant he is, he will always have a soft spot for you.

Matt Murdock: Forget
Pairing: Matt Murdock x fem!reader (she/her)
Summary: An endless cycle of reviewing is interrupted by some much needed negligence.
Warnings: SMUTTTTT, law student Matt, law student reader, probably inaccurate law school studying, p in v sex, oral (female receiving), finger licking, with a dash of dom!reader.
A/N: Something about Matt in She-Hulk really messed with my head. Here is my first marvel fic (I can’t believe that) for my fellow INFJ and love of my life. Thank you all for your patience in my lack of updates. I hope this makes up for it.
If you’d like to leave a like, comment, reblog, or ask, it would be much appreciated <3
(I completely forget where I got this gif. Please let me know if it’s yours).

Matt’s nails scratching against the scruff of his face was not helping your focus.
Neither were the rays of the city lights against his darting dark eyes.
He leaned forward on his leather couch, squeaking the fabric against his hard body, and exhaled.
“Okay,” he breathed, staring down at his case-covered coffee table. The clock behind him shined red an ungodly hour of the night as he dragged his long, slender fingers over the braille, and exhaled again.
“We know the defendant’s breach of duty, and we know the plaintiff’s sufferance of an injury.”
You “mhmed” him along as he spoke, grateful he could not see your eyes glued to his hands gliding down the page…
…or so you thought.
“We just don’t have proof that the defendant’s breach actually caused the injury defined through proximate cause.”
You swallowed with another “mhm” and started rubbing your eyes. “Right,” you said after a moment, confirming that you heard him fully.
He sighed again and rubbed at his scruff. He was really really good at that.
“Aka the most important fucking element for a negligence case.”
He stood up at that and placed his hands on his hips. His body somehow broadened even more when he did this, and the white sleeves of his dress shirt from a day of mock court and a night of play pushed further up his forearms.
What the fuck was wrong with you?
You had a final tomorrow morning—actually this morning—and all you could think about was how much you enjoyed seeing your “study buddy” angry.
You rubbed your fingertips against your temples, trying to force yourself to fucking focus, but nothing would work. You knew nothing would work, because on any other night at this hour, the only thing on your mind would be how pretty Matt would look between your legs. Your brain had built those thoughts into your head so consistently that it became a habit. That, combined with being sleep deprived and having the man of the hour standing right in front of you, you were fucked.
Beyond fucked.
And the worst part was, you didn’t even care.
You had met Matt as an L1, first day of Civil Procedure, and something about the way his hair sat, the way his voice sounded, the way he laughed at himself, and the way he moved drew you to him like a magnet.
You had yet to leave that magnetic force, even when your trusted buffer Foggy wasn’t around. After over a year of slowly knowing Matthew Murdock, you had never loved anything else more.
Not that he knew any of that, of course.
The slap of a legal pad hitting the floor broke you from your train of thought, and Matt sat down with a huff.
You took a deep breath, centering yourself. “Why don’t we take a break?”
Matt chuckled. “A break? This entire night has been a break, Y/N.”
He was right. The two of you had gone out, much later than anticipated, and procrastinated studying to the last possible second.
And if it wasn’t for the way he said your name just then, you might have agreed.
“We’ve already been at this for two hours, Matthew,” you snapped back. “We are obviously exhausted, and like you said, we know 99% of the elements on this case. We can wake up early tomorrow, figure that out, and then take the exam afterwards. It will be fresh in our minds.”
You wanted to add and delightfully avoid staring at your stupid fucking eyes for the entirety of the night instead of the task at hand, but decided against it.
“You of all people know that that’s not how it works,” Matt replied. “Sleep is the time when the brain sorts everything together, not an hour before an exam. We need to do this tonight.”
You scoffed. “Speak for yourself. I’m going home.”
That was what made him pause, and the dimples on his cheeks disípate.
“What? You’re leaving?”
“If you’re going to sit here and panic and stress me out then yes, I’m leaving. I’m exhausted, and cramming for this won’t help.”
You stood from your seat, but Matt stood with you. Meeting you at your level, just as he always had.
“We’re in this together Y/N. You’ve said that a million fucking times.”
You breathed through your nose, continuously frustrated at his pattern of remembering seemingly everything you had ever said. “I just need to forget about this for a while, Matt. That’s all.”
With that, he made his way around the coffee table, and creased his eyebrows together fiercely. He moved closer and closer to you as he spoke.
“You think I don’t wish I could forget about this too,” he spat. “Do you honestly think I don’t want to throw all this shit out the window and spend a night with you, enjoying myself for once in my fucking life, and just forget? You think I don’t want that?”
You were frozen solid. It was unlike Matthew’s personality to raise his voice, especially around you.
He breathed rapidly, trying to regain composure.
“My whole life I’ve done what’s good, what’s right. Hell, the entire reason I’m becoming a fucking lawyer is to make things right…but there’s nothing I want less than that right now. There’s nothing I want more than to forget everything in the world but you.”
Your eyes met his unfocused ones, and you took a step closer. An unprecedented confidence overtook you, like the universe was giving you a shove, and you had no fucking clue where it was coming from.
You stood closer than you had ever been to him. Close enough to feel his hot breath on your face and his usual musk of birchwood and peppermint.
“Then forget, Matthew,” you whispered. Boldly. Making up a sexy voice that you had only heard from women in movies. “Forget with me.”
Whatever you did worked, because with one last second of rapid breathing, he slid his hands around your jaw, and attacked your mouth with his own.
Nothing could have prepared you for the addiction that was the feeling of his body against yours and his tongue in your mouth.
You immediately pulled him closer to you by his collar, kissing him so harshly your teeth clashed, and he reciprocated the motion by lifting you into the air. He backed you up into the coffee table and, with his mouth still meeting yours with a fever, single-handedly swiped every document and legal pad off the wood. You gasped as you heard the papers fly through the air and smack against the ground, but at the same time, you pressed against his crotch harder.
Something about him knowing exactly where this was going knocked every rational thought from your brain.
You moved your hands to his face and hair as he laid you down delicately and crawled over you, completely covering you with his body.
Nothing could have prepared you for that feeling either.
He moved to your neck, and his loud breathing mixed with frequent moans sent chills down your body. Your breathing matched his in volume, and you slid your hands under his shirt, desperate to feel more of him. All of him.
You smiled dreamily, already feeling completely fucked out, before asking innocently, “Do you want to taste me, Matty?”
His body shuddered at your ask, and your heart leaped to your throat.
“Please Y/N,” he groaned in your ear, “please.”
Had you ever heard him use that word before?
You chuckled. “Get on with it.”
He removed your clothes so fast you didn’t even have time to wonder why a “blind” person would know how to do that so well.
You pulled his shirt and pants off as well, but when you reached for his boxers, he politely moved your hand away.
“No,” he said softly. “If you touch me anywhere close to there I’m going to drench them.”
He giggled—giggled—at your silence, likely imagining a shocked expression etched upon you, and kissed all around your face.
“What?” he questioned. “I thought sex was about honesty.”
You laughed back. “Not necessarily brutal honesty.”
“We’re lawyers,” he countered, moving down your body with his lips.
“Not yet.”
He smiled and kissed around your stomach and hip bones, breathing deeper and slower. He was slowing himself down.
“Don’t rush me Y/N,” he whispered against your skin. “I’ve waited over a year for this.”
“Trust me, I won’t.”
And then he dove in.
You were surprised your scream didn’t shatter his windows.
He mapped you out so intentionally, so thoroughly, and so unapologetically that it felt different than anything else you had ever experienced. He hit every crevice just enough to leave you wanting more before moving onto the next one, and you dug your nails into his hair to keep you tied down to earth.
“Matthew fu—fuck.”
He grinned and swirled his tongue so perfectly that the familiar rope of heat began to coil in your belly faster than you had ever had.
“I feel you. I feel you. Fuck you’re right there Y/N,” he breathed. He then moved up your body and held his fingers above your lips. You didn’t hesitate to bring them to your mouth and swirl your tongue around them, tasting a mix of his sweat and skin.
You could’ve sworn he drooled at the feeling.
You pressed a kiss to his palm before he went back to work with his fingers instead of his mouth, perfectly lathered, and when he massaged your clit just so, everything inside you imploded.
You regained feeling when Matt brushed a piece of sweaty hair from your forehead and kissed it gently.
“That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard.”
You scratched your hands up his naked back and kissed his shoulder. “Just wait until you give me a second one.”
He didn’t laugh at that. “Are you sure?”
You held his face in your hands and rubbed your thumbs over his cheekbones. “I’m sure.”
With that, a smile so big it reached his eyes etched over his beautiful face, and he kissed you long and hard.
“Okay,” he said excitedly, and reached for his discarded pants on the floor. “Alright.”
He pulled out his wallet and tore through it with shaky hands. You laughed and took it from his hands, finding the condom almost immediately.
He couldn’t stop rubbing your body.
“Classy, Murdock.”
“When am I to not be prepared?”
You kissed his nose and dragged your hand down his stomach, tracing every ab, every scar.
“I wish you could see how beautiful you are.”
He hummed, tensing up at the word, and you kissed him softly.
One day you would make him believe it.
“You can take them off now,” he said softly, and you obliged. His cock sprung free, hitting his belly, and you felt your pupils grow almost instantly.
He laughed at your silence. “That bad?”
“Yeah,” you replied, opening the condom with your teeth. “That bad.”
He laughed again, and you slid the condom over his length. He hissed as you did this, arms shaking in restraint, and you pumped him only once.
He growled through his teeth, “Careful.”
You were never that. Not with him.
He lined himself up and kissed you softly, breathing into your mouth, and slid his right hand into yours with a loving squeeze before he entered you.
You knew about Matt’s religious affiliations. You knew how close he held that to his heart and kept his moral code in check, but you weren’t that way, had never been, and never planned to be.
But when he slid inside you and the curve of him entered you just right, you had never believed in God more.
The two of you gasped cohesively when you felt how well you fit together, and Matt stayed still, forcing himself not to instantly snap his hips back.
You squeezed his hand and kissed his cheek. “Let go Matt. I can take it.”
And did he ever.
He rocked into you so intensely you saw stars and every molecule of oxygen from your lungs escaped you. His rocks were hard and deep, touching places inside you you didn’t even know existed.
Matt’s breath was just as stolen, and with every thrust, he had something more to say.
God Y/N you’re perfect.
I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted this, but how worth it it’s been.
I’m going to believe in God for the rest of my life. The rest of my life. What else could have created you?
Let’s keep doing this. Fuck let’s do this forever.
A single tear dripped down your face, and he licked it away.
“I’m almost there,” he whispered into your ear, and gave your hand another squeeze. “Tell me how to get you there.”
You swallowed. “My—touch me where you touched me before. Right there yes right there.”
You clenched around him, and he sucked in a breath.
Beads of sweat dripped from his forehead down onto you as he said, “I’m…I’m there Y/N. I’m coming.”
You exhaled, drenched in euphoria. “I am too.”
And you went together, just like you always did.
There was nothing left in your body but pleasure. No aches or pains from stress, nor pounding in your head, there was only him. Only Matthew.
He pressed his forehead against you, still inside of you, and kissed down the bridge of your nose.
“I needed that,” he mumbled. “I need you.”
You smiled and rubbed your thumb against his shaking hand, still encapsulated in your own. “I need you too.”
He pecked the side of your mouth before moving his mouth down to your breasts, kissing all around them, before ending his feast on top of your heart. He pressed a longer kiss there before fully collapsing on top of you, exhaling in an entirely different way than before.
“Fuck this test,” he whispered, and you smiled. Feeling only him.
“Fuck this test.”

Solace m.m
hehe a self indulgent piece because i can,. sorry in advance
Summary(1316 words): You have a depressive episode and Matt comforts you
Warnings: depression, mentions of SH and su*c*de, angst, hurt/comfort
The door to your apartment had been deadbolted and all of the windows were locked. A sliver of light had made its way through the blinds, barely illuminating the darkness that permeated your apartment. It irked you. But you didn’t possess the energy to stand up and shut them.
You shut off your phone earlier when you saw the amount of missed calls and messages from your friends and boyfriend. The notifications on the screen yelled at you and pointed a condemning finger in your face. You hadn’t shown up to work the last three days and lied to your friends- and Matt- when they wanted to know what you were up to, telling them you were busy. You weren’t busy, you just wanted to be alone. You needed to be alone. Why couldn’t they understand that?
Avoiding Matt was the real challenge. You knew he’d listen to your heartbeat while you spilled your lies in front of him. Thankfully, his days were taken up by court cases and patrolling, making it easier to feed him your fabrications over the phone. You felt like a fraud lying to everyone around you, but you knew they were better off.
You were void of energy, the intrusive thoughts spending every second they could ripping you apart and leaving only bits and pieces for you to someday stitch back together. Being awake was excruciatingly unbearable. Taking warm baths, eating three meals a day, journaling, taking deep breaths-things that were supposed to help- hadn’t seemed to aid your progressively worsening mood.
The last seven hours were spent curled up at the end of your bed without a blanket- you couldn’t be bothered. You kept your eyes closed, trying to catch sleep, but it didn’t want you. The dreams you turned to for solace had abandoned you, leaving you with the bleak and dismal emptiness you’d been trying to escape.
Please, just five minutes. I’m tired. You begged your mind for the thousandth time. Please.
The rapid rapping at the entrance of your apartment interrupted your pleads. You pried your eyes open. Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! “Y/n!” Your boyfriend, Matt, yelled. His knocks reverberated around the walls of your apartment. “Y/n, I know you’re there. Please open the door.” He waited for a response. You stayed in place. Silence was all he got. Matt squeezed his eyes shut and planted his forehead on your front door. “Please, my love…” You wanted to move. You wanted to open the door and pretend everything was okay. But you couldn’t.
All you could do was shut your eyes again and wait for him to leave. You knew he would,-everyone does eventually- but that didn’t stop your heart from shattering when the silence had filled your apartment again. Your throat ached and your eyes burned, but you didn't allow the tears to fall. I deserve it. You thought bitterly. This is what I get for putting him through this. He shouldn’t have to deal with this…with me.
You laid still for five quiescent minutes before you heard it. The sound of his rushed footsteps in your living room, growing louder as they got closer to you. You looked up, embarrassed that he had to walk past the mess that had collected in your apartment. Dirty dishes piled in the sink, half-eaten bowls of food on the coffee table, unwashed clothes on your bedroom floor, the rotting flowers on your nightstand Matt had given you a few weeks ago, just a mere five feet away.
You watched Matt’s black shoes as they approached the end of your bed. They were scuffed, but still had a bit of shine to them. “Y/n?” He kneeled, placing a hand on your cheek, caressing it. “I-I thought you were hurt…Are you okay? I’ve been trying to call you- we all have. I- talk to me, love.”
“I…don’t know…” You croaked.
“Did you-” Matt cleared his throat. “Did you hurt yourself?” You shook your head under his palm, taking a deep breath. His right hand took the hand that rested near your face and interlocked his fingers with yours. “Were you planning to?” Your heart jumped at the question. You shakily exhaled and rolled over so you were now facing the ceiling. You didn’t want to answer his question. Was it better to lie or to tell the truth? “Why didn’t you tell me? I can help- Foggy and Karen can help. You don’t have to deal with this alone, you know that right?”
Matt spoke gently, as if he were afraid speaking any louder would break you. Your bottom lip trembled. You held your breath and counted to ten before releasing the air from your lungs. Matt noticed your attempt at avoiding feeling your emotions and kissed the back of your hand. His lips lingered for a moment. “It’s okay to cry, y/n.” He got up and climbed onto the bed with you promptly after kicking off his shoes.
“I-I don’t want to, Matt. It hurts too much.” Matt’s heart ached at your words. He held you tight in his arms and kissed your forehead, your temple, your nose, any space on your face his lips considered deserted. He’d never seen you like this before. You’d been together for years and for the most part you were usually the one putting him back together- physically and emotionally.
“You don’t have to hold it in anymore. It hurts to see you torture youself.” The first tear slipped. Then another. And another. You sobbed for what felt like a lifetime, gripping onto Matt’s button up, completely soaking it. The pain you’d been keeping in had finally been released.
—----
You sat in between Matt’s legs, your back against his chest. His chin tucked in the space between your shoulder and neck. Matt ran a comforting hand down your arms and up to your shoulders. “How long have you been feeling like this?”
You cleared your throat before speaking. “Two weeks, I think? It was tolerable at first…but then it got really bad a few days ago. It’s been so long since I’ve felt like this, I actually thought I was better..” He kissed your neck as you played with his fingers. “I forgot how bad I used to get…” Your voice gradually dwindled down to a speck. You felt his breath tickle your skin as he spoke.
“Progress isn't a straight line, my love. There wouldn't be ups without downs. You have to give it time, the same way you gave me time two years ago.” You turned to look at him, knowing he was referring to the Midland Circle building collapsing on him. Those months had been detrimental to your relationship. You dealt with the grief of Matt’s unofficial death before finding out he had been recovering at St. Agnes Church in that time. Then you had to deal with a self-destructive and borderline suicidal boyfriend-not that he wasn’t already. It took almost a year for Matt to fully feel like himself again. “I know you feel like you’re undeserving of it, but you’re not. You deserve more than you know and if I have to pluck every star out of the sky to prove it to you, I will.”
“I- What did I do to deserve you?” You breathed out. You leaned in and tenderly placed your lips on his. He pulled you in closer, the taste of your salty tears being replaced by his sweet warmth. You relished in his love. You slowly pulled away and whispered. “I thank the universe everyday for you, Matthew.”
“I love you.” Another kiss. And maybe another. “Is it okay if I call Karen and Foggy to help clean the apartment up?” You nodded. Another kiss. “Do you want to stay at mine tonight?”
“Can I stay tomorrow too?”
“You can stay as long as you want, my love.”
