Hello!

A question for fellow ADHDers: what do you call it when your executive dysfunction keeps you from doing something you want/need to do (ex. being perfectly aware of impending deadline, needing to use the bathroom, needing to eat, do housework, etc but not actually being quite able to move from your current place/actions to do that other thing)? Have you noticed anything that breaks you personally out of that/jars you into doing the thing, or even just a different thing? (Ex. the sound of a trash truck, even if you need to do the dishes or homework, not take out the trash, the TV switching to a commercial break even if you're not paying attention to the TV, a timer/alarm going off, your pet/friend/whoever talking to you). Do you have methods/strategies you set up to recognize and/or get out of the being stuck? (How do you recognize when you are stuck, also? Or how would you describe that experience?)

I'm hoping we can get a bunch of answers and see if there's something we can learn from it because it's super hard for me to find like any info on being ADHD instead of a parent of like, a kindergartener (eyeroll here).

I'm very new to this. Do you have a list of the "big sins" that are the most important to avoid when writing plural characters?

Most of these Big Sins are Big Sins in a vacuum, so most of these have an exception to the rule. And they're not if you've created the exception, that's when you can always ask for another second opinion from a friend or this blog.

Serial killer alter! This is the first trope that most media jumps to, and probably has the least wiggle room. The only way I can really picture this not being offensive is if this is one system out of a bunch of others in the same story that don't do this.

Different alters/headmates that look different affecting how the body looks outside when they front. While there are definitely cases where some headmates present as having certain disorders that others don't, this doesn't affect what their body looks like. The Caveat to this is that your character could be a shapeshifter from another source that's not being a system, and that's perfectly fine!

Beyond those two, for my screening purposes, it very much becomes case by case. And it really becomes a case of if something will be an offensive fit with the context you've put your plural character in, moreso than a blanket statement.

It's basically guidestuck before I knew what guidestuck was, but actually it's kinda really different! It's mostly just fun designs I made, there's no story or plot as of writing this.

I'm still figuring everyone out, and some characters are a lot more refined then others, like Spidermom and Pounce de Leon, but I have basic ideas for the whole crew. I plan on making a masterpost with all of the info and the complete designs once I'm happy with everything. Until then, please enjoy these doodles of me trying to figure everything out :)
