Despite looking like bread, Subway sandwitches tecnically count as cake because they have a lot of sugar in them. Thanks to global super powers like Donald duck and that one guy from the Office these so called Impostor bread have remained on the market almost as long as the hit single Pump up the Jam by the band Technotronic.

Crispy Sweet Potato Chips: A Microwave Miracle!
Hey Tumblr fam! I just experimented with something amazing and had to share it with you all. 🍠✨
Tumblr media
Guess what? You can make delicious sweet potato chips in your microwave, and it's super easy! Here's how:
Tumblr media
Thinly slice a sweet potato (a mandolin works wonders).
Soak the slices in ice water for 30 mins (this step is key!).
Pat them dry and place them on baking paper on a plate.
Season with a bit of salt.
Microwave for around 5 mins (adjust time based on your microwave power).

It’s exams. I’m stressed. Time to Hack A Cake Mix.
Ingredients:
1 pack of the cheapest vanilla cake mix you can find.
1 shot espresso, cold
Handful of mixed nuts, finely chopped. I used walnuts, hazelnuts & pecans
1 tbsp cinnamon or to taste
Method:
Preheat your oven
In a bowl, combine cinnamon with the dry ingredients from the mix
Combine the wet ingredients for the cake mix & the espresso
Combine the wet and dry ingredients using electric beater
Spoon into cupcake tray or Bundt pan
Sprinkle with nuts
Bake until it springs back at you (~10 minutes for cupcakes, ~40 minutes for a cake depending on your oven & the initial mix)
Voila

Kitchen Witch Tips; Stale Marshmallows
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Has ever happened to you before: You get a craving for something sweet, but you don't want to make a huge mess in your kitchen baking. Then you remember you have half a bag of marshmallows in your cupboard. Combine that with some butter and cereal you have on hand, you got a satisfying sweet treat.
But, oh dear...those marshmallows are not as soft as they once were. They've gone stale. Heating them in a pan or microwave will not allow them to puff up like they are supposed to. How will you get your cereal treats now?
After you try heating your marshmallows with your butter, and the butter melts but the mallows don't puff (about a minute and a half in the microwave) Try adding 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and a pinch of salt, mix and heat again.
The baking soda should give your marshmallows some needed fluff. Now you can mix in your Cereal.
In the future, try storing your leftover marshmallows in an air tight container or jar.
Marshmallows have good properties for Happiness, Fun, Creativity, Childhood, and Sticking Together.

I made a discovery a few weeks ago, that you can put mac and cheese noodles in a rice cooker with the same ratio of noodles and water as you would rice in water, they cook nice and even without having to stand there and watch the noodles cook saves me time and effort and I can just add milk and/or butter when I go to stir the cheese powder in. Sometimes they stick a little bit to the bottom of the pan but I find they come off as I'm stirring the sauce in. Never had them burn at all or be underdone. Food hack.

Assorted Kitchen Hacks
Cleaning Wash hands before and during cooking (especially after touching raw meat and poultry). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends at least 20 seconds to sing “Happy Birthday.” After Kneading Sticky Dough: Standing over the sink, “wash” your hands with a handful of flour or cornmeal instead of soap and water. Rinse your hands with cold water (hot water causes the dough starches…

🍎 Apples & potatoes
Apples produce a natural gas called ethylene, which has been shown to slow down potatoes sprouting process
🍓 Strawberries & ice
Strawberries are very porous and absorb liquid. Soak them in ice water and they will become plump again.
🫐 Blueberries
As blueberries ripen, so does their specific gravity. Therefore more ripe and more sweet blueberries will sink rather than float.
🍌 Banana & avocado
Bananas produce ethylene gas, which can help avocados ripen quicker
🥑 Avocado & water
Cold water keeps the avocado away from oxygen, which helps prevent them from browning.

New concept to me... probs not new in general...
If I want a wrap but dont have any proteins included in the filling (or need more protein overall lol), I can just fry 2-3 beaten eggs in a large frying pan and use the EGGS AS A WRAP
