Have you ever started eating a food as an adult that you haven’t had since you were a small child? Like kindergarten age or younger small child.

Because I’ve been eating bologna sandwiches for the past week, and while I definitely don’t prefer them over turkey (my usual lunch meat since middle school) I’ve found myself enjoying them a lot more than I thought I would.

I guess I thought since I haven’t had bologna sandwiches since I was in kindergarten my tastes had changed and I wouldn’t like bologna anymore.

Back when I would regularly eat bologna my other preferred lunch meat was ham. But I started finding ham sandwiches gross towards the end of elementary school (I prefer ham hot when I eat it, it gets slimy cold), so I’d just always assumed it’d be the same with bologna.

Along with a lot of my other food preferences having changed since kindergarten. Such as switching from pepperoni as my favorite pizza to supreme (but no olives) pizza as my favorite. Or growing out of the phase of eating velveeta on my sandwiches instead of real cheese.

I’d just thought bologna sandwiches were something I’d grown out of enjoying and would only have nostalgic memories of.

Turns out no. They’re not my favorite anymore for sure. I’ve been exposed to too many, more delicious, foods since those days, but honestly they’re just as good as what I remember.
