Please feel free to be as outraged as you desire in the notes. My Italian grandfather came closer to disowning me when I wouldn’t eat garlic bread than when I came out as gay.

*in a good way: for example, the way my mom makes spaghetti is different from every other kind of spaghetti sauce, and I love my mom's version and so all others taste gross/wrong to me
**in a bad way: you ate a dish that was prepared so grossly/bad its ruined that food for you forever regardless of how well prepared it might be other times

i am discovering I don't really like sweet things. As a kid, I thought I had a really bad sweet tooth. I think I did.....
But it appears my taste buds have changed. It's weird. But also interesting. I don't even like half the stuff my siblings do. In fact, I'm gonna make a list of things I don't like so that I can see it too-
Pudding
Jello
Yogurt
Apple sauce
Banana flavoured candies
Cake
Cookies (if they're really hard)
I don't really like chocolate
oat meal
Certain crackers lol
I don't really like hard candies.
Whoppers (are those in the U.S??)
I don't really like ice cream either... However I still like it. That doesn't make any sense *wheeze*
Man... that's a lot of things and in sure there's more but I can't think of any right now. Hmm.
I must go contemplate... something...
And maybe keep this lovely little artifact I found in your lab, Pancake~
🐉
Food preferences change over time, it's completely natural!
As kids humans are drawn to sweet foods because in nature, sweet foods are safe to eat & provide energy.
Bitter & sour food will mostly be appreciated in teens or adulthood & not liked in childhood - it does depend on parenting & cultures though.
HEY, WHO ALLOWED YOU IN MY LAB??? And YOU STOLE FROM ME?? HOW DARE YOU, Dragons...
I'm disappointed. :(

I wish I liked oatmeal
There are so many good flavor combinations and opportunities to have a nice balanced meal depending on what you add to it (fruit, peanut butter..etc)
But it just taste like wet cardboard and that makes me sad

I’ll stream for a little while~
LYN: Hallo everybody, good evening. I am Modern Brothers’ Liu Yuning. Welcome! LYN: Good evening, good evening. This is really sudden, right? I didn’t even think this would happen, it’s so sudden.  LYN: I didn’t think I would stream today, but we ended up wrapping early today. Much earlier than usual. I didn’t think the stream the other day was very memorable, and I don’t think you would have enjoyed it very much, so I came to sit in front of my computer today to make it up to you. If you’re my fan, my policy is to make sure you’re well fed- stuffed, even. If it’s not enough, I can give you seconds. It’s like when you’re in a restaurant and you have enough dishes, but not enough rice- you can always get another serving. - /fills his wine glass with carbonated beverage/ LYN: Cheers everyone!
C: I finally caught up to a fresh one! LYN: They probably mean that they usually watch playback of my streams or video clips that people make, and have never caught up to a live show. But they’ve done it today, right? I guess you were watching rotten ones before. Watching moldy ones, is that it? Alright, let’s buy some fresh vegetables to eat. LYN: You caught up to a fresh and steaming one today.
C: Ning-ge, undo one button. LYN: Friends, I’ve only been streaming for five minutes, and this is the topic you choose to focus on? We don’t have anything more sophisticated to say? Because from a certain angle, there are a lot of people watching my stream for the first time- can we not talk about normal things? You jumped straight into undoing my buttons. That makes it seem like we’re not proper- let’s talk about more proper things, alright friends? LYN: But I really was about to undo one. This is a little tight. /undoes the top button/ Much better.
LYN: Everybody, welcome to Modern Brother’s Livestream!
LYN: I saw a comment- it seemed to be a clip from one of my streams- there was a comment about me, and it said, “I’ve seen LYN’s dramas and I’ve heard his songs, but why is it that when he starts streaming he seems so well-suited to it?” After I saw that comment I also did some self-reflection. If you say I’m a singer, I am. If you say I’m an actor, I AM acting in things. But why is it that when I stream people think that I am well-suited for the role? I thought about this the whole day and have come to a conclusion. The reason is because my equipment is too professional. Normally artists who stream don’t have such professional equipment like I do. I’m a little TOO professional. LYN: It’s strange. I see comments that say that some artist or actor is a natural-born “ancient” person- that they are suited for guzhuang style. But why is it that I saw a comment that read, “Ning-ge is a natural-born live-streamer.” I’m not very happy to hear that- are there other choices?
C: The video quality is so blurry. LYN: Are you- can you connect to some wifi? Don’t use 3G to watch my stream. Find some wifi. The video shouldn’t be too blurry right? // When you watch my streams you can choose the quality- you can choose to make it hq or super hq. It’s not blurry is it? There’s no way- I’m streaming with my computer today, and my wifi is super fast.
C: My coworker says you’re handsome. LYN: What a great coworker. I think you can continue to work in this company, if their workers have such great taste. I guarantee that within three years your company will become a Fortune 500. Do well in this company. Your coworkers are alright- very good people. C: My roommate says you’re handsome. LYN: Uh.. roommate, huh? I guess you’re in college right now. In that case I’m sure you’re in a famous school. It must be a great one. Your classmates are all intelligent and have a good eye. C: My mom says you’re handsome. LYN: Ehm.. that’s very nice. Your mom, as my senior, I am afraid to joke with her. I have to respect her. But I’m sure that Aunty was very capable when she was younger. So let’s continue to 量力而行 (assess one’s capabilities and act accordingly). There’s that idiom, right? So what I mean to say is that this person’s mother is not only “capable” but also “alright”.
LYN: ! Someone said, “Ning-ge...” oh- they didn’t call me “Ning-ge”. They just said, “Your style is the “business of revenge/payback.” Uhm.. I guess you can say that. Because in comparison to other artists who conduct business at brand promotions, variety shows, or events- on a big stage, where there are lots of lights. But my style of business is very lowkey- which is sitting at home in front of a computer, all I need is a mic and a hat and I’m ready to go. But this is a little plain- and it used to be plainer. I used to be able to stream four or five, even six times a month. Streaming was all I did, and for even longer durations. Not just one or two hours, but at the very least four. But these days I have shortened my business, because I’ve been quite busy with other work and haven’t ben able to put the time in for my “business.” But I’m not revenge streaming, because I did use my phone to stream a couple days ago. I was uncomfortable, because then I didn’t have this /canned laughter/. This is very important. But I didn’t know then that I would be able to wrap up early today otherwise I wouldn’t have streamed at all. It’s like I’ve baited you on purpose, and I’m streaming today to make it more fulfilling. I didn’t know we would wrap early today- so I have to thank my crew. They saw that we were working hard lately so they let me off early today and then I have to get in for hair and makeup tomorrow at 7a. But it doesn’t really matter- the fact is that we were able to wrap early today, because later the schedule is more packed so I wont have time to revenge stream. Today we might be a little flat, but please don’t mind it. C: Ning-ge, you have to bait the fans a little. LYN: I disagree. That may be someone else’s method, but not with me. I already said, if you’re chasing stars or you like LYN, I’m going to make sure you’re well fed. There’s no baiting, because I don’t play that game. Streaming, to me, is a way of relaxing. That’s the truth. I’m not doing it for the business, though you could interpret it that way because the facts are that my fans are seeing me. But to me, this is a way of relaxing. Because you’ve seen how I have to present myself at work (XD)- I have to be slightly more presentable than I am now. Of course, it’s not as if I totally let myself go (unpresentable) when I stream either. I just want to say that when I stream I am more relaxed than normal. The people who are watching my stream right now and the ones that have just stopped to watch for a moment- a group of you are my fans, and you must at the very least like or admire me. Even if I don’t look very cool, they are still willing to take it in. A second group of people are those with an interest in me- they might not be my fans, but someone else’s- and they’re just here for the experience. The third group of people are the passersby- the people who have opened their weibo, saw that I was streaming, and clicked in to watch a monkey. The fourth group of people are my professional anti-fans. But overall, other than the anti-fans, the people who are watching my streams are those who don’t find me annoying. If they found me annoying and STILL watched my stream- isn’t that just making trouble for themselves? So I believe that you all don’t hate me. My anti-fans, even. On some level they love me even more than my actual fans do. Think about it. Their hatred towards me must on some level be born out of love. If you hate me or you love me, you still have an interest in me, so it’s all good. So when I sit here in this stream, I can be comfortable enough to be myself.
C: Anti-fans think of you even when they can’t see you. LYN: What do I care what they do?? / Let’s forget about them. Have a drink! What do I care?! C: Ning-ge, do you think there’s still time for me to turn from a fan into an anti? LYN: 去你的. Don’t mess around and create trouble for me.
C: (about his glass) Drain it. LYN: I still have another bottle here, do you want me to? Why would you drain a carbonated drink, to show that you have a big stomach? It’s not necessary. I was only taking a sip of my drink. C: Are you raising fish? LYN: Shush. Don’t scare me. Later there are going to be rumors that I’m drinking alcohol while I stream. It’s not necessary. This is a carbonated drink- you all saw when I poured it.
C: Ge, what have you been doing lately? LYN: This friend must not follow me very closely- they asked what I’ve been doing lately. Well see, it’s almost winter, right? So I set up a bunch of large tents near my house in my hometown. I’m going to plant some strawberries and harvest them in the winter. That’s what I’ve been busy with. I’m also planning on buying some land with a friend and raising some chickens, so we can get into the egg business later. I’m getting into farming- I think I can do it. Since I usually stream, later I can promote my home-grown strawberries here. That’s in development. C: Put up the contact info, quick. LYN: I already said that I don’t sell products in my stream. Don’t be under the impression that I stream so much in order to make a profit. I don’t sell products and I don’t accept gifts in my stream. My stream is just a benefit for my fans. My strawberry tent is for bulk trade- I’ll grow them and have someone else sell them for me. So I hope that when my strawberries are ready you all can go buy some. XD LYN: You can just listen to what I say in my streams, only. Honestly most of it is utter nonsense. Listen to it for entertainment, and please don’t think I’m being serious. If you believe what I’m saying then you’re too naive.
C: Is there anything you don’t eat? LYN: That’s a little broad of a category. I don’t much like eating stainless steel... or glassware. I’ joking. You mean foods, right? I haven’t really met anything that I won’t eat. I don’t not like eating certain foods, pretty much. I don’t dislike cilantro or mushrooms. Being from Dongbei, we’re all about the onion-garlic-ginger (strong flavors)- so there’s nothing I don’t like. I like everything, it’s all good. I’m not picky. But as for species, I eat the usual: chicken, duck, fish, goose, pork, beef, lamb. Other than those I probably wouldn’t don’t each many others. LYN: I’ve eaten things like fish mint, if it’s ordered at a restaurant. I’ll try it. It’s not inedible. I know a lot of people will say that it tastes bad, and why would people like to eat it. I can understand this sentiment- everyone has flavors they like and dislike. But for things like fish mint, I CAN eat it but at the same time I will ask myself WHY am I eating it. I don’t hate it, and if someone orders it I will try it out. C: Durian? LYN: I eat them, I actually really like durians. LYN: For people from Dongbei, we like to take some scallion, some daikon, and just dip it in a sauce made from eggs and yellow soybean paste. Raw. It’s pretty satisying. C: Have you tried douzhi (fermented mung bean dish)? LYN: I have. Your Ning-ge actually hasn’t really seen much of the world. I don’t know about you-if you’ve travelled places when you were younger? I only went to Beijing for the very first time around six years ago and hadn’t been anywhere before that, other than working in Shenzhen. After I got to Beijing, I remembered that people would often associate it with douzhi, so I bought some to try. I drank it and.. it’s potable, but I had the same feeling as before, which is: WHY do I need to drink this? It gave me the same feeling as this picked cabbage we have in the Northeast. Around winter we all get together around a big pot and each family would bring their napa cabbage and we would boil it in the water. When it’s boiled, you take the cabbage and place it into a storage jar to ferment so we can eat it in winter. The douzhi was just like the flavor of the pickled cabbage soup (the fermented juice-water). At least that’s what I think. C: Pickled Cabbage Fish. LYN: You’re probably talking about the Southern dish. It’s a little different from us up in the Northeast. Ours is pickled napa cabbage, not pickled mustard greens as is the usual. C: You can drink pickled cabbage soup? LYN: You can’t. There’s too much bacteria, you shouldn’t drink it. But when it’s cooked it’s washed, so that’s okay. But it’s the same flavor. It’s similar. C: Was it good? LYN: No.
LYN: Let’s not talk about food, though. It can easily go to my head... because I used to be a cook. If you want to talk about food I can go on for days. I learned how to cook professionally, so I can chat about food and it’ll make me happy. But there are probably a lot of friends who don’t want to hear things like this. C: This is a Fine Dining Stream. LYN: IT’s not. My stream doesn’t really have. a fixed topic. It’s not like I come here and say, “Today I am here to promote my new album! :)” Or to promote my new drama- I just come here to talk about daily life. A few streams ago I was chatting about bath-houses with everyone. My content is usually just chatting to my fans about life and any topics that they are interested in. We play it by ear. We’re like those little old ladies that gather outside my house and chat.
C: Is the second album coming? LYN: I’m not that interested in working on my second album right now. I’m letting it wait. The song I played just now- Fall in Love- is actually a song from my second album. But why did I release it and then the rest of it never came...? Because I don’t feel like working on it right now. I’m still trying to gather songs. Once I have all ten I can pick a good time to get them all out. Right now I don’t have a lot of time, but I have OST, so you can always hear my songs. I’m not in a rush to get the album out because I want to take my time with it to release something I really like. it’s difficult.  C: Release another song from it, then. LYN: It’s not that I can’t, but I don’t think there’s any need. There’s another OST that’s going to be released in the next couple of days- why would I use a song from my album to steal the rating from one of my OSTs? LYN: The song is called 追光 (Chasing Light), the OST from the drama Light Chaser Rescue. I recorded this a while ago. It’s also one of Tan Xue-laoshi’s songs (L&R - Colored Glass). He’s given me a lot of work to do and this drama is also not bad. I know a lot of you are watching it.
LYN: I know a lot of friends said it sounded like there was KaKa (kazoo) in it. Theirs isn’t actually a kazoo, it’s a little horn. C: It (the kazoobie) changed color? LYN: !! ???? Oh, right- I remembered. It didn’t change color. I remember now, the other one was silver. I saw this one on my table earlier- my bro probably opened my package and put it on the table for me. I told you last time, right? I paid and extra 600RMB to buy one. This is the one I bought at original price and I bought it when I was still shooting for BYOL in Chengdu. They told me it would arrive in a month and a half, so I bought it and thought I would just use it when it came. If it came down to it, I would gift the new one to one of my musical friends, like Penny-jie. But I just used it. I just now realized- I thought this was the one I used last time. Oops. I cant gift it, now. LYN: Oh- the silver one is right here. Now I have two. /starts clanging them together/. I can make anything into an instrument. XD
C: Give it to me. LYN: Are you a musician? Then we’re in the same business. If we’re in the same business then we’re enemies. I can’t give it to you. You’re my enemy. I can’t give it to you. Sorry. Have you ever heard that song (小冤家): “Little Enemy, what are you doing? You look like a fool. I’m asking you, but why is it that you’re not replying?” So I can’t give it to you, sorry. C: Never heard of it. LYN: You’ve never heard of this song, 小冤家? Have you even had a good childhood? /sings it/ You’ve really never heard this song? Wow~ Your musical intake is... quite low.  LYN: In any case, this song is called Chasing Light from the Light Chaser Rescue OST. Please listen to it when you have the chance.
C: Enemies are the ideal partner. LYN: Have you watched too many dramas? Are you trying to play out an enemies-to-lovers trope here? Are you talking about in dramas- that’s a 欢喜冤家 (quarrelsome but loving couple), I think.
C: Ning-ge, the Super Topic isn’t called “Xiao Peng Fei” (小棚妃) anymore. *[小棚妃 = Little Shed Princess; his fandom name bc he joked one day during a stream that there were so many fans there that they would need to build a shed in a field to fit them all] LYN: I think that’s okay... because I’ve been targeted pretty closely these days. Please understand. The “Mo Fan” name is what I called you, before I was famous. It’s also a good name. Why don’t I call you “peng fei” anymore? I won’t say more but please understand me- there are a lot of eyes on me right now. Even when I don’t DO anything, they still need to drag me out. So I’m trying my best not to give them anything (they can use against me). C: What did you do? LYN: Nothing- it’s just that I was doing pretty okay with second lead roles for a while, wasn’t I? Even when I was third or fourth male lead no one cared to curse me out. But now I’ve... stepped up a little... so there are people who think I don’t deserve it. What can I do? I don’t even have anything out yet, but I just want to focus quietly on my work, and not be influenced. C: So it seems like since you have male lead roles people are starting to curse at you- then why don’t you flip the script and take female lead roles? LYN: ... What nonsense it that? That’s even more terrifying.
LYN: My crew is so nice to me. My fans all know this, but maybe passersby who don’t know or even care about me could have happened to stop by the stream today... how many of you aren’t my fans, and have just happened to drop by? Type a ‘1′ into the comments. That is, you’re not my fan but were walking by and decided to take a look at me? I want to see how many of you aren’t my fans. // So many? I see a lot of you have “MD” at the front of your ID.. MD for Modern Brothers, right? You all typed ‘1′- are you not my fans? You can’t stop being my fan, just because you watched a stream! XD Our relationship is not that weak, please. I said “If you’re NOT my fan, type ‘1′” and in that moment each one of you decided to stop being my fan (so that they can type ‘1′). This is a legendary humbling moment- this moment right here. Alright, okay. It doesn’t matter. I just wanted to ask. LYN: My current crew is so warmhearted. The other time, didn’t I say that I was being cursed at online for being ugly? If you say that I am I won’t deny it- I’ve accepted it. I even say myself, that I look just average. But I think that my colleagues have seen the comments made about me online. They’re trying to comfort me. “It’s alright, Ning-ge. Honestly, you’re not handsome, but you’re not as ugly as they say.” XD “Don’t be too dispirited. You’re not the traditional handsome guy, but one with an aura. You have the mood of a handsome guy.” LYN: ??? LYN: I said, “Yes, ok. I understand. Please stop talking about it now.” But they still feel bad for me, and sometimes when I don’t feel confident on set- I didn’t used to have any doubt when I went on set. But now before the camera starts rolling I have to check how I look in a mirror. /makes funny faces/ “Alright, we’re good to go. Let’s do this.” I need to take a look at myself first, to see if I can pass my own standards. But I’m very happy in the crew right now, because people feel a little sorry for me, so now the first thing people say to me when they see me is, “Ning-ge, you’re so handsome today.” :) Its true! “Oh, Ning-ge, you’re here? No wonder I felt an air when you came in. It was your handsomeness.” They’re cheering me on every day. I can feel their warmth- they want me to be more confident, and hope that I don’t too much thought about the comments online, so they’re saying these things to me. After hearing these things though, I feel like I’ve gained happiness for no good (real) reason. I’m really thankful for my colleagues though. I feel the warmth. It’s nice to feel like you’re being cared for, in a work environment it’s rare to see.  C: “气体” is an interesting word. (气体 = air/spirit, can also mean gas/odor) LYN: “Hey, why was there an odor when Ning-ge came in?”
LYN: Alright, it doesn’t matter. I’ve thought it through. I just want to do well in filming and be a good actor, while learning something on set. That’s the most important- learning. // We’ll just see what the final product is like before passing judgement. But I can totally understand why people would think I am undeserving or unworthy, because I am. I’m sorry. But from an objective standpoint, the dramas I have been in that have aired are very few. A lot of people probably still don’t know that I am acting. They’re thinking, “That’s so strange, wasn’t he a singer- a Bodyguard of Love? Why did he quit being a bodyguard? He started being a janitor instead?” XD The truth is that there are only four dramas that I’ve been in that have aired as of now. HBY came out in 2018- no, 2019; very early. After that is UN, where I acted as Hei Yanjing; the problem with this drama is that I was wearing shades throughout and a lot of people watched the whole thing still don’t know that I was the actor. I was wearing shades throughout, so only on their second watch did people start to realize that it was me. People just don’t know me as an actor. The third drama is CGX, where I played Hao Du; this is where a small fire started. I have to thank the crew, the director, and the producer for giving this role to me as it did spark a small flame. A lot of people in my stream right now started liking me as LYN because of this role. After that is SYXSSYX, which required a lot of post-production work. I acted as BCF. You may not have watched that drama, but the fact is that I only have four dramas out, and in all of them I was in a support role. LYN: Now I’ve suddenly taken on a lead role, so of course people would be unhappy with that. But what can I do? No matter what people do, there has to be improvement/development. For example, I used to be a waiter and did that for half a year. My boss thought I did a good job and promoted me to supervisor. After some time doing that, my boss thought I was doing well so promoted me again to manager. Of course, at that time there were also people who I had started out the same rank as, who were not happy. They didn’t think I deserved to be the manager. That I didn’t deserve it, and what made me so special?? So I can understand the same type of sentiment now. Every industry has rankings. LYN: I used to be a cook. A lot of you might not know, but I learned professionally how to be a cook. I learned in school for TWO years! I learned how to cook for two straight years without doing anything else. After school, what do you do? You start off washing vegetables. I’m sure a lot of you don’t know- there are probably some who are waiters or cooks- but the first thing you do when you get out of culinary school and start a job at a restaurant is washing vegetables and cleaning fish. After a while of grunt work, if the chefs think you’re good enough you can go up a level. Things like picking wood ear fungus and shaving potato skins- that’s the type of work you’re doing at the start. Slowly, you’ll start to- C: Fry shredded potato. LYN: No. Being able to COOK a dish in a restaurant right out of culinary school is extremely hard to do. But slowly, you move on into “creating shells”- there are those dishes like fried chicken and shrimp, things that have an outer batter. You start to make the batter- starch or egg- for these types of dishes. After you’ve done this for a while, there are two paths you can take. It’s a bit like playing a game. You can choose to either “guo you” or “zan ban”. One of them is knife skills- which counts as an extra skill. “Zan Ban” entails prepping the ingredients for a dish, and handing it off to the chef to be cooked. “Guo You” is like what I said earlier, passing the fried foods through oil until they’re cooked and then plating and serving. It’s about accumulation of time/skill. After a few years you might be upgraded into cooking dishes. As a student even “zan ban” is not bad. So saying, each industry has their development. For me as an actor, I have to improve too. I started off as a supporting role and slowly progressed until I am now able to have a lead role. Of course lots of people aren’t going to be happy with that. It’s exactly the same as when I was a waiter and slowly made my way up to manager. LYN: This is why I completely understand why people can’t understand why I am able to act leading roles now. But I really hope that these people who can’t understand my forward progression, never meet someone like yourself when it comes to the point in your life that you progress. Do you get what I’m saying? C: In the end you reached ascension. LYN: LOL. LYN: That doesn’t count as a slight, right? I just mean that say you’re working in a certain position right now. There’s bound to be room for upwards movement. I hope that when you are moving up, that you don’t meet someone like yourself. I’m talking about those people who think I am undeserving or unworthy. I hope you don’t meet someone like yourself. LYN: I hope that everyone can be kind and respect others. That’s what I want.
C: Can I request a song? LYN: Am I a KTV? Don’t request any songs. Later if I feel I am up to it and am happy enough I will sing a couple. I’ll hum a couple, and sign for fun. But don't request any.
C: Remember to check in to the Super Topic, Ning-ge. LYN: Don’t worry, I still have 13 make-up cards. So let’s shoot myself in the foot today. I clearly know that I can check-in right now, but I’ll wait until it’s past 12a and then use a make-up card. Let’s shoot myself and then make use of a card. C: So many? LYN: Yeah, because they had an event and gave out 10 cards. I pretty much used up all of mine from the previous round, but last month they gave 10 more.
C: No wonder the media accounts say you’re 1.9m tall with a 1.2m “fan gu” (anti-bone??? occipital bone.) LYN: ? What’s a “fan gu”? I don’t know... I think I kind of get what it means, though. In Dongbei we call it as “jing jing de”. For example, if someone says that it’s getting cold and they tell me to put on my pants- I mean, to put on some thermals- and on the inside I will say, “I won’t. I just won’t wear them, why do I have to? I won’t wear them.” That’s what they mean by that, right? Being defiant? [unrighteous people with a rebellious spirit]  C: 1.3m tall is all defiance. // Your legs are full of defiance. LYN: /sigh/ Okay. You’re all right.
C: I’m a newcomer, could you “flip” me (respond to me)? LYN: ... >.< ... Okay, I flipped you. To make you happy. For some friends happiness is very simple. This friend is a new fan and asked me to flip them- what that means is that they are a pancake. They’re a pancake- those that you apply sauce to- and just by flipping them, will make them very happy. I flipped you. I hope you’re happy. It’s like you’re a fried egg. C: So you don’t flip the old ones. LYN: The old ones... how could you be making a fuss? “Ning-ge, I’ve been a fan for four years, but now you’re replacing the old with the new, is that it?” That’s not what I meant. Don’t try to start anything. I’m already close enough with my old fans- we’re like family now. Right, fam? :D LYN: I don’t know if you have this type of manner. That is, is the first thing you do when you get home and see your family to get on your knees and kowtow to them? MY house doesn’t have these requirements, but I don’t know about yours? Go home. “Mom, I’m home!” And then fall to your knees? I don’t do that at home. But I take you as my family, and you are already understanding and polite. You’ve liked me for four years! What else is there for me to say? Isn’t that right? C: Ning-ge, when I get home I kowtow to my mom with my head lowered. LYN: LOL. If what you’re saying is true then that means when you get home every day you knock on the door and wait for your mom to open it so that you can bow to her?  LYN: I think this is ok. If you truly respect your family members that much that you would bow to them when you get home, that’s great. It’s not a bad thing. It’s a wonderful thing, and I hope that you all can adhere to it. But in my house, we don’t need to. I just say, “Mom, I’m home” without any fanfare.
C: Holy sh*t, when did you start streaming? LYN: I just started uh..  five minutes ago. Yeah, five minutes ago. If I say that, will you not feel as disappointed?
C: Ning-ge, why is your neck so red? LYN: Oh, because I kept rubbing it. My throat hasn’t been feeling great lately. I don’t know why. But sometimes when I talk I feel like I have to press down on it.
C: Ning-ge, why are you “jie mo” handsome? *[ 这么 = zhe me = so, but an altered tone so it sounds like 芥末= jie mo =mustard] LYN: Do you mean when we eat sausages, that type of jie mo (mustard)? “Why are you mustard handsome?”? Is garlic not handsome?
C: Ning-ge, my husband recharged our roaming data so I can watch your stream. LYN: /thumbs up/ What a good man. You husband is so generous. As a man myself, I’m going to give him a thumbs up!
C: You’re so funny. LYN: YOU’RE funny. In your eyes I’m just a joke.
C: I want to go to your house and steal toy figures. LYN: Stop spamming. We don’t allow spamming here, even though we don’t have a moderator if it were me from before I would have kicked you out already. Don’t spam. But you want to steal my figures? You’re already exposing your crime in my stream. You’re so cool, you’re admitting to wanting to steal in front of so many eyes- you must be a repeat offender.
LYN: Let me tell you something... /thinks about it/ Forget it, I won’t talk about it. LYN: It’s alright, I’ll tell you about it later. I’m keeping track. It hasn’t been officially announced yet, so I’ll tell you later. Let’s not rush. You’ll know eventually.
C: I want to see fans interview Ning-ge. LYN: What do you mean? Interview me? Honestly when you type in the comments I already reply to you right here. We’ll stream later today, so maybe we can have a q&a session. If you have anything you want to ask me, we can talk about it. It can be about this industry, or anything you think I might have an interest in- you can ask me about it and I might answer. Honestly no one has really come to interview me lately, anyway. I have a stomach-full of things to say. XD C: I want to see you interview the fans. LYN: That, I’ll pass.
C: Ning-ge, what scent of perfume/cologne do you use? LYN: I won’t recommend it to you, because I have a makeup collaboration soon. If I mention some other brand’s perfume, it wouldn’t look good. But I really have the personality of an old Dongbei dude... though I may not look like it- but I look manly, right? But we don’t really like using more feminine products- honestly. I never used to use perfume, because I felt like... it wasn’t BAD, but I just didn’t want to. I couldn’t accept it, myself. But later, after I got into this industry and especially when I started shooting dramas, I started to spray some every day. Because I have to act alongside other people. Sometimes Hengdian can get really hot. It’s so hot and we’re over there wearing three to four layers. Most of the time we sweat through. Sweat everywhere- back, chest, thighs. Sometimes on especially hot days you can be standing there and the back of your hand would sweat. Here I am, acting opposite an actress. I have to exchange words with her, and fight other people, and sometimes I will run by. Think about it- if you smell like sweat and you run by someone, they’re going to throw up. It’s not that it stinks, but there’s bound to be the smell of sweat. I don’t think that’s very respectful to other people. So ever since I started acting, if I think it’s going to be a hot day I’ll spray myself down. Half a bottle, gone. I’m a bit more extreme with usage, like spraying bug repellant. XD C: Sweat + perfume is not going to smell good either, though? LYN: No, I- I’m not talking about SWEATING, what do you think I’m doing, playing basketball?? Do you mean the smell I get when I go to play basketball and after I take my shoes off, or what? Did I go hiking??? There’s not THAT MUCH sweat, so there’s not that much smell. What are you thinking? I wash up every day... // I think it’s all about respecting the other actor, whether female or male.  C: But you just said that your clothes were soaked through and even the back of your hand was sweating. LYN: My hand sweat can be covered with hand cream. Sweat on my neck is covered with sunscreen. There are all sorts of smells together. Foundation has a smell. Hairspray has a smell. It’s not like using ONLY perfume to cover your whole body’s odor. There’s a mix going on. If you lift your hand it smells like hand cream; your shoulder might smell like the perfume; if you lower your head it’s going to smell like hairspray. Right? It’s all different, but they’re all mixed together. It’s not like our faces are stuck together. I think it’s enough to cover the smell to that the other party doesn’t find you disgusting, at the very least. // There are all sorts of smells. Let’s just shorten it to shi san xiang (13 fragrant spices; used to marinate meat for cooking).  C: So what perfume do you use? LYN: I use what’s considered the 13 Fragrant Spices. C: Are we marinating meat now? LYN: Yes, 13 Fragrant Spices are used to marinate meat. XD But I just meant the idea of it- because you were asking me what perfumes I used and through that topic I veered us into this place.  LYN: I don’t want you all to start doing it, but I just want to say that if you like perfume and like wearing it you can do it. When you walk by people you can leave a nice smell. I think that coworkers or classmates can enjoy the smell too and they will associate it with you. C: Under normal circumstances I don’t like spraying perfume. LYN: That means that you have not normal circumstances where you do... like when you’re going to an event or party? C: Why do I need people to enjoy associating me with a fragrance? LYN: You don’t have to. But society is just like this: one more person liking you is better than having someone hate you. If, just by spraying perfume, it can bring you some benefit, then I suggest you spray it. LYN: It hasn’t elevated to the point where I’m questioning whether you should or should not put on perfume, the base of the matter was the topic of hygiene. I put on perfume because when I am doing fight scenes, I might sweat and want to cover the smell. It’s just like how you brush your teeth every morning- it’s out of respect to those you work with. It’s normal. Otherwise why else would toothpaste be mint flavored? Why don’t you use rose flavored toothpaste? It’s the same logic.
- /reiterating that he CAN speak Standard Mandarin, likes to use his hometown accent in his streams to feel closer to the viewers, but while acting he ONLY uses Standard./ LYN: If I were to use my accent to say my lines, my costars would laugh themselves to death. - /t/n: demonstrates, but this is a lot more fun if you’re listening/ - /first scenario: you’re going on a mission to intercept the enemy and are giving out instructions to your team./ - /second scenario: classic guzhuang xianxia dramas/ LYN: Let’s say you’re an immortal. The partner is also an immortal but they’re going to jump from the tower- no, the platform- so that they can live a different life. Aren’t those stories all about the multiple worlds and multiple lives? So they’re about to jump and you run over and say, “Don’t jump! You can’t. Don’t jump, don’t jump. Listen to me. Don’t jump, you can’t. Let me explain, alright?? If you jump, I’ll jump with you. Let’s both go die, neither of us will live anymore. Ok? I can’t live my life without you.” LOL. That’s no good!! LYN: “Leave everything for me to endure. Don’t say anymore. It’s enough for me to take the burden on my own.” That won’t do, right? There’s no way. So I still use Standard Mandarin when filming. LYN: I am Dongbei Qingcang. Nice to meet you. C: If you’re Dongbei Qingcang then I am Da Lan Hua. (Big Orchid) LYN: No, we wouldn’t call her “Da Lan Hua” but probably “Da Lan-zi” (also sounds like “big basket”). “Da Lan-zi, come to my house to sit. Come, sit on my house’s kang (heated platform) and we’ll chat. Da Lan-zi.” Yeah, it’s like that. Not “Da Lan Hua”.
C: Ning-ge, use Dongbei accent to sing “Searching for You.” LYN: No, actually regional accents really mess with songs. Because there’s already a fixed melody and rhythm, so the only change would be in the pronunciation of some words. There’s not much of a difference.
C: Ning-ge, you’re Dongbei Jiu Yuan (character from the CLJ donghua) LYN: /laughs/ /recites his lines/ /says “Dongfang Qingcang” instead of “Dongbei Qingcang”/
C: Dongbei rap. LYN: It’s not possible.
C: Your neighbors aren’t fighting today? LYN: If you hadn’t mentioned it I would have forgotten.  LYN: ... Wait friends...... let me pick up a call. XD Hello? ... What? ... You’re having a BABY?!? Is it a rush? Ah.. I see. I understand. So the child has just been born and you want it to see me, so that when it grows up it will look like me, is that it? That’s what people say: the baby grows up to look like the first person it sees. You want it so see me? Um.. I’ll have to decline, because lately the comments online are all saying I’m ugly and I don’t want to influence the child. How about this, I’ll bring a poster of HZT. Is that alright? It doesn’t need to see me- what was that? You WANT your child to look like me? Alright, then I’ll make the trip down. Wait for me. I’ll be right there. /dragging it on longer XD/ LYN: Friends, you all know the situation, right? I have to make a trip downstairs, so the kid can see me. As soon as it was born, they covered it’s eyes with a towel and when I get downstairs they’ll remove the towel so it can look at me and then they’ll leave. Alright? It’ll be quick. Wait for me a bit. I’ll play you a VCR. Wait for me, don’t leave. -- bathroom break #1 LYN: Alright I’m back. On my way back I opened up weibo and did my daily check in. I said earlier that I would the day pass and use a make-up card, but I thought about it and thought I should’t waste it.
C: You finished having the baby and came back? LYN: /I/ didn’t go have a baby, I don’t have that function. It was my friend’s baby. C: Was it a boy or a girl? LYN: WHAT’S IT TO YOU? Do you want to be the kid’s godfather or godmother? Are you going to give the kid 200RMB? C: Ning-ge, I forgot to check in, could you gift me a make-up card? LYN: When you have a baby, I’ll gift it to you as a congratulatory present. Our relationship is deep enough for that. C: When my baby is born I want it to get a look at you, too. LYN: Okay, okay.
C: Ning-ge, you rode a horse one-handed? LYN: There were pictures out a couple days ago- you all saw them? Of me riding a horse one-handed. That’s nothing to be amazed at, it was a basic technique. I used to be very afraid of horses. I’ll tell you all why. It’s because my first drama- my first guzhuang drama, my first scene- I was kicked by a horse. Do you know- to an actor shooting his first guzhuang drama, and his first scene of the whole thing- to be kicked by a horse on the very first day? Do you know how much it hurts?!? Really, I was kicked into a daze. After that I started to fear riding horses. But later, after shooting so many dramas and having to ride horses for them, I’m not as afraid anymore. I always prepare carrots, though. I know I’ll have to ride a lot for this drama, so I told my bro to go to the market and buy a sack of carrots to leave on the RV. If I have a horse scene, I’m going to feed it until it’s full. Horses love carrots. Not to say that they’re going to be obedient if I feed them tasty things, but at the very least they won’t hate me. People and horses are the same.  LYN: So, I’ve fed them no small amount of carrots. I’m sure horses have an impression- honestly these horses shoot more dramas than people do. Don’t look down on them. These horses are working every day. I’m sure the dramas they have been in are a lot more than some actors. That’s the first thing. The second thing is that these horses know a lot more actors and celebrities than you do. You could go your whole life without ever knowing/seeing more than a couple of artists, but these horses see them everyday. They’re veterans. LYN: These horses are in Hengdian all the time, it’s like they’ve been trained for the camera. When the director says, “Get ready!” they know- they stand at attention. They have better posture than I do! They know to stand at attention when the camera is rolling, and then “3, 2, 1.” You don’t even have to say anything, the horse just goes! It’s a natural instinct for them, now. They act better than some rookie actors do. LYN: Sometimes a scene will require two people to sit on their horses and exchange dialogue. After they’re done talking, they continue on the road, right? A lot of dramas are like this- you’ll be riding and you stop. The two characters decide which forward path to take. When you watch the drama it might seem like the actors rode up to the scene, but actually when it cuts the two actors are already sitting at position. You can’t have the horse ride up because there’s no way to tell a horse exactly where to stop in line with the camera frame. They’re not people or machines, there’s no way to get them to stop without a hair out of place. For example, you could have the horse walk over, but when you stop you’ll find that you’re half out of frame. That’s not good. So when we do close-ups the horse is already stabilized and we’re sitting on it, before we start rolling. Sometimes the director will do the countdown to camera rolling and at “1″- in what was supposed to be a still scene, the horse starts running. That’s a normal occurrence.  LYN: Animals are the hardest to work with when filming. They don’t listen like people do. Sometimes there will be a scene where you ride up, and then get off the horse and take the reins to lead it while you exchange dialogue. But then the horse stops in place and you can’t make it walk any further. They’re not going to listen to you, who do you think you are? It’s not as if you trained them yourself. If you want to ride up on them that’s fine. But if you want to get off and walk with them, they stop. Pull back, even. Very common. Say the director decides we get off the horse and stand in place to exchange dialogue. We’ll be exchanging lines and the horse could start to urinate (or going #2). XD There’s just no way to control that. LYN: There are a lot of surprises that can happen when shooting horse scenes.
C: Ning-ge, when the horse stops walking just sing “走马” (Walking Horse) to it. LYN: Yeah, I’ll sing to it, “After a long time I finally looked up, to see you on the other side walking A LITTLE SLOWLY.” I don’t think it’ll work. It wouldn’t understand. LYN: Horses- I’m telling you, after filming guzhuang dramas I have a keen understanding of horses, now. Don’t look at horses and think they are tall and strong. They are super timid. They’re super timid and have a very strong sense of self-defense. Why else would people always say the “horse was spooked”? If I started to sing to it and it spooked and ran away, who could I turn to for help? We don’t need that to happen. Let’s not sing to it. Some horses are very timid, and will scare and run at the smallest of things. If you’re on the horse you can be thrown off at any moment. Anything is possible.  LYN: The taller people are, the more timid they are. (talking about himself? XD)
C: Get by the horse’s ear and sing it a rap verse. LYN: Um... these horses aren’t familiar with you and even if you’re doing a drama together you would only really see and interact with it the few times. If I sang it a rap, I don’t think it would be accepting of any type of raucous music. I definitely can’t rap to it. C: Zi Wei can speak to horses. LYN: Ah, are you talking about in Princess Pearl? Zi Wei whispered in the horse’s ear and then it started to walk? It’s a drama, after all. You see in a lot of dramas that people can fly, don’t you? Even more jump town from the “Fairy Guillotine” (aka Immortal Execution Platform). Those are all dramas, you can’t take them for real life. Some individuals even blow 20 billion people away with a wave of their hand. LYN: I’ll crouch by the horse’s ear and say, “Hi, I’m Zi Wei. Can you understand what I’m saying? Alright, let’s go!” /smh/ In some dramas people get snatched up by aliens! You can’t take that stuff seriously.
C: Suddenly I couldn’t understand what you were saying. LYN: Are you taking a shower? Can you all hear me? This friend said they suddenly couldn’t hear what I was saying?? Are you in the shower, has water gotten in your ears? Jump! Let the water fall out of your ears. I don’t think this has anything to do with me, you must have gotten water in your ears. You can try to fix it yourself.
C: I’ve been your fan for five years now and I still really like you. What’s up with that? LYN: What else can it mean? What’s wrong with that? This is what you call... having charm. Many of you might have been around for four or five years but still haven’t had enough of me, and are wondering why. Don’t wonder, many others are just like you. That’s right.
C: Ning-ge, how come your eyelashes don’t seem as long as they were before? LYN: I told you, I was putting on lash serum for a while, wasn’t I? But I haven’t been applying it lately. You might apply it, but eyelashes grow in layers. They’re like your nails- no, that’s not a good description. Just... they’re continuous. You know? When they grow to a certain extent, then the old lashes fall and new ones grow. They’re layered, so the ones I applied serum to have already finished their round. Why haven’t I been applying it lately? Because I discovered a problem- it might just be a problem with me- after I applied it my dark circles were so prominent. If it were a choice between having dark circles and having short lashes, I’d rather not have the dark circles.
C: Are Liu-ge’s streams always this funny? I can’t sleep because I’m laughing. LYN: Why are you blaming your insomnia on me? Go to sleep.
C: Will Director Li have you sing an OST for his drama? LYN: Which drama? He hasn’t contacted me about anything. I don’t know which drama you’re referring to, but if he comes to find me, I’ll sing.
C: Ning-ge, what is your rising sign (astrology)? LYN: I don’t know... I’m allergic (avoid) these types of things. I don’t believe in that stuff.
C: I just downloaded weibo so I could watch your stream. It’s my first time watching and I’m so excited. LYN: :) Really? Weibo is such a common thing and you’ve only just downloaded it? That means I’m also capable of attracting new consumers. That’s my market value. // There are new friends watching my stream tonight? If that’s the case then you can subscribe to my weibo and the next time I finish up with work early I will stream and weibo will notify you. You can come take a look. Subscribing to my weibo isn’t shameful. You won’t lose face because of it. Thank you. It could be that your subscription to my weibo is bringing the platform new customers. It’s also making me look good and have market value. Even if just a small action from you might help me be that much closer to turning the tides. You’re all good people. Please suscribe. C: I’m subscribed. LYN: Thank you.
LYN: When you’re here please try not to mention other artists. I know that I used to mention them myself, if I feel we have a good enough relationship but now- it’s hard to say. We’ll avoid mentioning other artists for now. If I bring them up on my own, that’s my own problem. But you all should avoid mentioning other people. It makes this awkward. LYN: Sometimes people talk too much or too little. I have a good relationship with most people. But if I mention them people will start to talk and say that I am mentioning them for clout. What clout could I possibly attain? How many years has it been since I even debuted? I’m still a rookie but I’ve debuted for four years now- what do I expect to gain? People who will like LYN have started long ago and people who find him annoying have been annoyed for the past four or five years already. I can’t gain clout from mentioning anyone.  C: They must all be other peoples’ fans. LYN: It doesn’t matter- everyone who comes here is a guest. If you come to watch my stream that means that at least you don’t find me annoying, and that’s enough for me. We don’t want to segregate by who is who’s fan. It’s not like it’s impossible for someone else’s fan to also start liking LYN, right? :) In the same token, a lot of LYN’s fans have also become someone else’s fan. It doesn’t matter either way, we’re all the same. This is a public platform. The entertainment circle is like a supermarket. Today you’ll really want to drink the market’s yogurt, so you buy a yogurt to drink. Tomorrow you don’t feel like yogurt and want to eat convenience store noodles, so you go to the convenience store. There are choices. It’s not like just because you chose yogurt one day, it means that you have to drink that yogurt forever. Right? It’s the same sentiment. So it doesn’t matter who’s a fan of who; it’s just a title and doesn’t mean that we can’t all get along.
C: My roommate says the speaking volume is low but the music volume is high. LYN: You roommate is such a good girl. Really. Try to figure out why I say so.Or.. she’s not a “good girl” but an “honest girl.” She says that the music is too loud and my speaking voice is too low- that makes her an honest girl because the music in bars is much louder than this. If you go out to club and party at night then the music in those places is much louder, you can’t even hear yourself speaking, you know? So she’s a good girl and doesn’t go out at night to play or bum around. Very honest. C: How did you guess it? LYN: I guessed right?? C: Ning-ge, I go to bars to do my homework. LYN: LOL. You’re writing an essay? Did you bring your laptop? - /talks about more things you can do in a bar, like order a coffee or practice some tai chi :p/ LYN: Going to a bar to do your homework... alright. The next time your mom asks what you’re going out for, tell her you’re going to a bar to do your homework. Let’s see if she hits you or not! She’ll kick you before anything. You’re going out in the middle of the night, to a bar, to do your homework?? To learn?! Just tell her that.
LYN: I saw a comment under my post that read “LYN is so funny. His streams are so interesting.” I saw a reply to that comment that read, “One day I watched LYN’s stream but I found it disgusting.” So the OP asked, “Why?” and they replied, “I feel like he’s really fake- he keeps doing the “bubble” sound to make himself sound cool but I think it’s gross.” Friends- every time I finish streaming I tend to self-reflect, but do I really do that? To make myself seem ~more depressing? Do I tend to use this sound a lot when I speak to you?~ ~Do you know why I speak with this “bubble” sound? Because I’m drinking carbonated water.~ I’ll “kill” you with perfection!! LYN: I don’t speak with any airs. I’m streaming for so long that if I’m putting on a voice for the whole duration of it, I’d be done for. I’d tire myself to death. But if you feel like I do have that sound when I’m talking, it has to be because of the way I ~pronounce things. That’s just how I talk. Because I want to “end” them.~ LYN: But when I stream I usually use the Northeastern dialect, so even if someone uses the “bubble” sound to speak, paired with the dialect it wouldn’t have any effect. Here, listen. “Girl, do you think of tonight’s music? If you think it’s alright, then dance along with me. Did you know... that when you walked into the room...” /laughs at himself/ Do you think that sounds too perfect? It doesn’t work, so when I stream I usually use my Dongbei dialect and if I add the “bubble” sound on top of that it would be extremely awkward. Now you’re just falsely accusing me.  C: 野狼disco [t/n: bc it’s full of pick-up lines, I’m guessing] LYN: I can’t even take it anymore myself. Hey, wha do you think of this bubble sound? Is it nice? I’ll let you hear enough of it~ - /reiterates how it’s difficult to use a different dialect to sing a song; unless that song was already crafted using a dialect./ LYN: The Dongbei dialect doesn’t much change the pronunciation of the word itself, unlike Shanghainese or Zhejiang or Minnan, which use different languages. With Dongbei dialect we’re just changing the tone used to pronounce the character, you know? It’s the same as Standard but using a different tone.  - /sings 东北民谣 (The Northeast Folk Lyrics) by Mao Buyi)/ C: Liu-ge, “kill” me. XD LYN: What do you think friends, how did Liu-ge do? // Oh? Why am I being cheesy all of a sudden? - /pauses/ LYN: Friends, it’s like this- once it hits around 11:30p I suddenly come to my senses. /laughs/ Liu-ge. “I don’t understand, but I am your Liu-ge.”
LYN: Right- so we were talking about the Dongbei dialect and the “bubble” sound. This is just what I sound like when I speak normally- it’s always been like this. If you watch my old streams, you’ll find that my voice is much more hoarse than this. But this sound you’re hearing isn’t forced, it’s just that I’m tired. I’m tired so it doesn’t sound as clear. I also wish to have a “youthful” tone. But there’s no helping it, my voice had always had this “ragged” sound to it. But I think it’s a good thing. When people age, so do their voices. Unless you’re a professional voice actor, who can change their voice- but normal people (can’t). Even me, when I got to act, I think that my voice is actually befitting of the roles I play, because I already can’t make out a teenager’s voice. This face can’t act as a teenager, either. So when I look at roles, they’re more of the... well... I CAN still pass as a “youth”. Right? If this person were on the younger side, I can lift my tone a bit, so I can sound more young. But if I am playing someone more mature/stable, then I would use a deeper voice. It’s helpful for acting. LYN: People used to say that since I am a singer, I should be able to recite my lines better. The truth is, singing has nothing to do with reciting lines, and I can’t recite them well. I’m still working on getting them right. What they meant is that since I was a singer, I should have and I NEEDED to be able to say my lines well. I think this statement is illogical. If it were “this person is an actor, they MUST be able to say their lines well”, I think this statement is okay to say. But to have a singer who MUST be able to say their lines well- that’s actually two different things. You might think that speaking and singing is the same thing but it’s not. Because actually there’s a difference in how we pronounce words when speaking vs singing. The breathing is different, too. When you sing or go to the KTV with friends you’ll notice that before you sing you always need to suck in a breath before you start. Right? /demonstrates/ I exaggerated it a bit so you can hear. But who do you know sucks in a breath before speaking?? Therefore, singing and speaking are two different things entirely. C: How can you breathe in more deeply? // Why does it feel like you can’t get enough air? LYN: That was me exaggerating the breathe. I wanted you to be able to hear it. /demonstrates again, but MORE exaggeratedly [t/n: I almost spit out my tea XD]/ LYN: I remember telling you this in a stream before, that singing and saying lines uses the opposite technique. For singing you need to breathe in, but for acting you are breathing out (”放气” = “let air” // homophonous with “放弃” = “give up”). C: What do you mean “give up”? LYN: No, you can’t “GIVE UP”, I meant that you need to “RELEASE AIR”. You’ll find that a lot of actors, when they speak, sound breathy. /demonstrates: holding breath/standard speaking/releasing breath/ Did you hear it? Releasing the breath. Because this makes it sound more “alive”. So it’s two different things. But I can’t talk about this with you in too much detail, because I don’t understand it either. LYN: When I say my lines, though I’m not too heavy on the breathing, unless I’m very excited/agitated. LYN: I’m someone who, when I find an interest in something, really likes to study/research the topic. I’ll watch other people’s material and I like to imitate it and work out how they execute. Sometimes I will work out my own tips and tricks in regards to saying my lines and acting. If I tell you I’m sure it would sound extremely unprofessional, though. // I like to observe.
C: Ning-ge, Hao Du’s voice acting was great! LYN: Actually, it wasn’t great at all. I’m not trying to put down my own works- Hao Du’s character was a successful one, but that was my first time doing voice acting. If you go back to look at it now- of course, “good” or “bad” is something for you, the viewers, to decide- but I personally am not satisfied with my performance.  C: Bai Choufei’s was good. LYN: BCF... he was alright. I can only say that every juncture, my skills are at their highest for that particular moment in time. I take the voice acting very seriously. You might consider BCF to be acceptable, but that’s because it was the best of my skill at the time. I did my best. But people are always improving, even if it’s by the smallest of increments. So BCF was the best I could do at the time, but of course even right now I’m not much better than I was then. LYN: I’m thankful for the BCF role for allowing me to train in a lot of aspects. For example, performance-wise, and ways in which to express a character that goes through many changes. Looking back on it now, of course there are going to be regrets and there are things I could have done better. But at the time it was the best I could do. BCF gave me room to perform and train my own abilities- it was a role where I could test the limits of my expressiveness. A lot of roles don’t give you that, and are very quiet roles. BCF is a role where after you have acted it, you improve in a lot of different ways. That includes his dialogue, and his way of speaking as well. It was a great role to sharpen my acting with.  LYN: Some of the lines, you come to an understanding of yourself. For example the part at the end. “Now you want to kill me! You want to kill me!” In the script it’s only the single line but when you express it on scene, you end up repeating it. They are the feelings you get when the scene is playing out, so you naturally add it in. The voice acting, too, and the sheer amount of dialogue. It was an intense role to practice and train with.
C: I’ve never had insomnia, but this is my first time because I’m watching LYN’s stream. LYN: :) What can I say... this might be fate.
C: Will you still receive villain roles? LYN: Of course. I don’t mind- I’ve said this to my fans before, too. Even though I am taking on main lead roles now, don’t be disappointed in me if I decide to go for third or fourth male lead roles later. My plan in life is to be a male actor, not a LEADING male actor. Do you get what I mean? My decisions are made based on if I like the script, the role, and the production team.  LYN: As for villain roles, I’d still receive them but I might try to avoid them for now. The role of Bai Choufei really... made too many people fall into the story. That just goes to show that the actor did a good job, because they’re already starting to put curses on me. I’m only the actor but some people wish I were hit by a car. How terrifying is that? So I’ll do my best to avoid it for now. LYN: So if I get the chance, now I really want to act as... a ~young man with deep feelings/emotions (深情 (shēnqíng)~. I think that will help turn people’s view of me. If I keep playing villains, people are going to hate me. C: 神经 (shénjīng = crazy) young man. LYN: What, “crazy”? Is my putonghua that bad?? It’s so bad that you can’t understand me when I talk now? I said “深情” young man! C: Ning-ge, you’re really suited for villain roles. LYN: Yes, I am well aware of that. That is, my aura- the aura of the person called Liu Yuning- it’s a bit villainous. You can go back to watch my variety shows. Sometimes when I watch it back I even think, “What’s wrong with me?” I went on a variety show and ended up agitated. What did I have to act like such a bad guy for?? It’s not that I’m acting that way on purpose, that’s just the air I give off. If you wanted me to act as a very good person, according to my current abilities, it’s a bit of a hard ask. XD
C: Ning-ge, didn’t you say you would stream for a little bit? How come it’s already near 12a? LYN: We count time differently here. Your “little bit” to me is “one to one hundred thousand years”. Just let me chat with you a bit longer.
C: An emotional (baby) cabbage. LYN: /sigh/ Alright. -- C: Please don’t act as a villain again. LYN: It depends on the role. If it’s a truly good role I will still take it. It doesn’t matter if the character is a villain or not. It doesn’t matter. It’s good enough that I still have work to do in this industry, let’s not be picky about it. -- LYN: Last time I wore cabbage shirt, today is a pine flower (century) egg, is that it? Wow, I really am a cook- everything I wear has something to do with food. Okay, then. What you say is right. Today I’m wearing a pine flower egg. -- LYN: I don’t care if it’s a villain or hero role, having a job is better than not. If there’s work, I’d better take it because we are all just trying 活着 (To Live). - /sings 活着 (To Live)/
C: Ning-ge, were you fake-playing the guitar? LYN: What are you saying?! - /tunes his guitar, to prove he CAN play/ LYN: What strange things are you saying? // Alright, let me show you my talent. I will play for you the only song I have learned in my life. I hope you... like it. Oh- I’m not going to sing it, but why I have I pulled up the lyrics? - /plays a few notes/ LYN: See! This is the problem with old fans- they know exactly what you’re going to play! You’ve all already typed out “南瓜马车的午夜” but not “换上童话的玻璃鞋”?? [lyrics to 拥抱 (Embrace) by Mayday] // I have to play something I’ve never played for you before. I’m going to go online to search for chords and learn a song right now. Don’t rush. I’ll search one right now. What’s hot lately? I need to show you, so you don’t laugh at me. How about... 酒醉的蝴蝶 (Drunken Butterfly)? Let me see if there are chords for it. Have you heard of this song?
- Happy New Year, it’s 12am! LYN: Happy New Year my friends, and thank you for spending the new year with me. It’s been a long time since we’v spent one together. In this new year I wish you wealth and happiness!
- /酒醉的蝴蝶 (Drunken Butterfly), acoustic ver./ LYN: Incomparable~ Friends, this is what you call ~art~. LYN: It still doesn’t seem as good as the pumpkin carriage, huh? Let’s stick with that. What are the lyrics again? Let me look them up. - /拥抱 (Embrace), acoustic ver./ LYN: Alright, that’s enough. This performance is a bit of a blow to my market value but I just needed to prove that I wasn’t faking it earlier. My guitar isn’t only here for looks. /I/ am only here for looks. LYN: I performed that way on purpose, because nowadays what people want to see in dramas and movies is a sense of... brokenness. People can say that an actor has a sense of “brokenness”- my song is the same. It was just very “broken” and I also sang very “broken” and “ragged” so when you combine the two you get the sense of “brokenness.”
LYN: Alright well, I thank you for your company. That’s about all for today. It’s already 12am! I need to be in hair and makeup tomorrow at 7, so that means I need to wake up at 6. Alright, well. I was in a better condition today and I enjoyed chatting with you all, and I hope you are happy as well. Your happiness is more important than mine, because I really don’t know the next time I will get to stream. Thank you for you company! If you haven’t yet subscribed to my weibo yet, please do so- the next time I stream we can meet here again. I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing night. It was great to have you and I hope tonight you were happy. I’ll see you the next time I stream. Good night, everyone.
LYN: Before I go I think I need to rap for you. I didn’t do well the other day. Let’s see if I can make it today. I tried singing “麒麟 (Kirin)” the other day and didn’t do well. Let me try and see if I’m a little stronger than I was then. This is like a lullaby- anyone who hears it would get really sleepy. You’re going to be so sleepy. You’ll be out like a light. /adds special effects/ What is this? This doesn’t look like a stage. /changes it/ This is good. I’m telling you- no matter who hears this song, you’re going to get sleepy. It does wonders. Let’s test it out. - /麒麟 (Kirin)/ (take 1, original speed) LYN: Wait- I want to see if I can make the lyrics not as.. short. They’re coming so fast I can’t remember them. They’re going by too fast. - /麒麟 (Kirin)/ (take 2, slower)
LYN: Good night everybody.

Favourite food? Is it same because you share a body, or different because you’re different personalities?
Well, personally, I cannot taste food as much, for reasons I don’t understand, but I am not taste deaf.. I do prefer more liquidier foods like soups..
I guess my list would be goulash, ramen, and mashed potatoes..
Hmmm, favorite foods… Oh! I do have a couple!! I like spicy or savory best!!
Hmm, deviled eggs but spiked, bratwurst, chilli, und I think also ramen here!!
Ramen is gut on the road, and fills you quickly, as long as it’s authentic. Very true!!
(I personally, side note, love chilli, but I also just love food)

Food preferences are so funny bc someone will be like "Yeah I'm not a huge fan of popcorn I don't mind it tho" and have a completely normal civil conversation and then turn around and go "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LIKE PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA YOU HEATHEN?! YOU VILE DISGUSTING BEING, YOU DESERVE THE ELECTRIC CHAIR. I HOPE BOTH SIDES OF YOUR PILLOW ARE WARM AND YOUR PHONE CHARGER ONLY WORKS AT A 40-DEGREE ANGLE"
