Hazel Callahan was never a jealous person, why would she be? There was no reason to be jealous. She had everything she could possibly think of, fame, money, talent and the list goes on and on. She could talk all day about all the things she had but aside from those material things Hazel knew she was attractive, she could have anyone fall at her feet in an instance. So she couldn’t understand the wave of jealousy hitting her body as she saw Y/n from afar flirting with someone. Hazel gripped tightly  on the beer she was holding glaring daggers towards  Y/n  as she threw her head back laughing at some joke the person next to them. 

“I bet it wasn't even that funny” She muttered to herself while taking a sip of her drink, her eyes never leaving Y/n ‘s way. 

“Who isn’t that funny?” Josie asked, popping out of nowhere behind Hazel causing her to jump, almost spilling her drink. Hazel rested her hand on her chest trying to push away the fact that she had scared the living shit out of her. Josie turned towards her unconsciously blocking Hazel’s view of Y/n.  

“What the fuck, Josie? You can’t jump out of nowhere. I could’ve spilled my drink on this lovely white couch. This is a million dollar couch. We can’t afford to ruin this couch” Hazel rambled reaching towards the couch pushing herself up so she could see the interactions Y/n was having with the unknown stranger better. Josie rolled her eyes, still not noticing Hazel's true intentions. 

“Have you seen your net worth? You could fill a house just with those damn couches and still have money. But that’s not even the important thing. Today’s the perfect day to scare people.” Josie responded by pulling Hazel by the arm, making her sit next to her on the couch. 

Josie was right, today was the perfect day to scare people. October 31st had rolled around really quick and this year people were more excited than ever. And people being excited by something made management want to hop on that train. That’s how Hazel and everyone else found themselves at a Halloween costume party in honor of B/n’s album launch. As much as Hazel wanted to deny it, she actually wanted to be at that dumb party. She had seen how important that album was for Y/n and her career. She had worked hard to get it out and the least Hazel could do was support her. 

The past few months as a PR couple weren’t as bad as she thought it would be. Being forced to go around town to be spotted by paps and fans so turned into dates where they could talk countless hours about things that didn’t make sense. Movie nights, sleepovers, late night dinners, they outings started transitioning from public to the privacy of their house. Hazel had learned every inch of Y/n’s apartment and every incho of her heart. It was hard for Hazel to see the line of where their pr relationship ended and their relationship started. She had found herself wanting for her phone to light up wishing it was a text from Y/n or how everything reminded her about Y/n. She was falling and she was falling hard.  

All she could think about was Y/n. Every ounce of inspiration started with Y/n.  She made Hazel feel complete. Yes she had “everything” but nothing in the world could make her feel the way Y/n did. Hazel wanted her to feel happy and if she had to go to that party and dress up, she would do it in a heartbeat. So as soon as the theme of the party got revealed, Hazel found herself at the nearest halloween store. 

Hazel was actually excited to go to the party and see Y/n, knowing that she was going to love her ghostface costume, but never in a million years she would’ve thought that she would see Y/n, her Y/n, snuggling up to some random person. 

“Hello? Earth to Hazel. Are you here?” Josie exclaimed concerned, snapping her fingers in front of Hazel’s face. Hazel shook her head turning to face Josie finishing the last sip of her beer and placing it on the small table in front of them. 

“Shouldn’t you be…I don’t know making out with your girlfriend or bothering PJ? Don’t we spend enough time with each other as it is?” Hazel snapped, taking Josie's drink and taking a sip. She waited a few seconds before turning her head once again on the pair a few feet away from them, noticing how they hovered against each other a few inches of locking lips. 

“Rude much? I have you know, Isabel is currently talking with this agent about a modeling gig and PJ is desperately trying to get a girl which leaves me no option to spend time with you. So, what’s up your ass. You’ve been moody ever since we got here.” Josie said getting more comfortable on the couch in front of her. She followed Hazel's gaze, noticing what she was looking at. “Oh, you found out about them?” Josie asked Hazel, making her snap her head towards Josie quickly. 

“Them? What do you mean about them?” Hazel responded quickly, not trying to hide her true emotions or intentions. She was going to find out who that person was and why she was wasting her time with them instead of spending time with her. Y/n didn’t even think of sending a hello towards Hazel’s way being too busy making googly eyes at the unknown person. 

“That’s Y/n ex, they were together before the pr thing between you two started. I guess since it’s over they are rekindling their relationship.” She continued while resting her legs on the coffee table in front of her. Hazel furrowed her eyebrows trying to process the information she had heard. 

“Wait. What do you mean now that it’s over?” Hazel asked, placing Josie's drink down completely facing her this time, her body almost on top of hers. 

“Didn’t you receive the constant  chained emails? They have been updating both of the bands about your guys publicity stunt. ” She replied, searching for her phone so Hazel could read the emails their manager had sent both of the teams. 

“Who the hell even reads email anymore? I thought G sent the important updates via message. Why did no one tell me that they were sending things via email.” Hazel replied, taking Josie's phone scrolling down to read the messages in front of her. 

Hazel felt her world spin as she read the words in front of her on the flashing screen. Her eyes quickly  scanned the twenty emails and all the responses. Everytime she read one more word she could feel the high she had with Y/n slip away, it was all fake. 

Without even thinking it twice Hazel felt herself move up from the couch heading towards Y/n not before handing the phone back to Josie. Her stomps were strong as she pushed past the  crowd of people. When she finally got next to the pair she grabbed  Y/n’s arm ignoring the disappearing smile on her face. Before her or her ex could say a word, Hazel pulled her outside. The cold breeze hit Hazel's face, but she could feel herself getting hotter by the minute, pissed off out of her mind. 

“What the hell,Hazel? I was trying to have a conversation” Y/n exclaimed annoyed, pulling her arm away from Hazel’s touch. Hazel looked at her pissed off, something unfamiliar to Y/n. She was used to seeing cocky Hazel and as of recently sweet Haze; but angry Hazel was a new thing for her. 

“When were you going to tell me about the emails?” Hazel said roughly, not breaking eye contact with Y/n. She could feel how just by her choice of words Y/n confidence turned down. 

“The emails? What emails?” Y/n asked clearly about her throat while playing with the ends of her skirt. Hazel laughed sarcastically, taking her by the chin, making her look at her. 

“What emails? Let me help you out and refresh your memory. The email where you claimed that going out with me was a way for you  to get me to write the songs for your album. An easy way to get on top of the social ladder. I thought you said that you wanted to write things for yourself? To make a name for yourself in the industry, why the hell did you use all the songs I fucking wrote for my bands album. I showed them to you in confidence and you stole from me. What the actual fuck, L/n” Hazel exclaimed letting go of her chin not wanting to hurt her due to the fact that she wasn;’t in control of her anger.

“I didn’t know you were going to read the emails. It was just my team a…” Hazel looked at her shocked, feeling her heart break at the choice of Y/n’s words not believing that this was the same girl she had fallen desperately in love with. 

“You didn’t know that I was going to find out about the fact that you were fucking me over and leading me on these past months for a stupid album. Are you hearing yourself right now”

“No, Hazel. You don’t understand! You’ve always had everything I just wanted to see what it was like. You knew from the beginning that it was a pr thing really, but now I..” 

“Honestly, I actually thought you were actually a good person. I felt like shit being around you, I didn’t think I was worthy of being next to you. But now, I guess it was the other way around. I really hope that using me for that damn album was worth it. Because right now you gave me inspiration to write a new one” Hazel turned away as tears started forming on Y/n eyes. As Hazel walked away Y/n could feel her only inspiration slipping away. 

Hazel was gone and out of her life, like she always wanted, but why didn’t it feel good. Why did she want to see her face and the constant reminder that she was there? Hazel Callahan had an effect on her that she couldn’t lose but now it was too late, she was slipping away.

Though, some did manage to truly fluster you. Luca could be really charming.

you showed him the pregnancy test nervous of he would say thinking it would be something along the lines of ‘what the hell i thought you were on birth control.’ ‘im to young to have a child.’ or even ‘i never even liked you in the first place dating you was just a joke with me and my friends i didnt know you were in love with me.’ but it was nothing like that.

he looked up at you then looked back down at the pregnancy test. “your pregnant?” he asked “yea im really sorry” you said tears in your eyes “i get it id you want to break up with me” you said again tears running down your face.

“baby im not mad at you!” he said as he lifted your chin to look at him. “this is the best news of my life. the person i loves has a mini them inside of them thats amazing news!” he explained happily

DURING THE PREGNANCY

AND from multiple angles to boot because like yes there are good reasons to critize the movie, both from the angle of ”why does this movie even exist” and for the actual shit in the film, or rather the lack of mention for things like downwinders or the way the manhattan project that oppenheimer helmed displaced and exploited the local population in Nm.

but like a lot of the criticism is boiled down by its defenders to ”people are upset that there arent scenes of random nameless japanese civilians dying in this BIOPIC about a single guy” when… i dont think anyone is actually saying that. a more honest rebuttal would be something like ”well the effects and aftermath of the bombs has been thoroughly explored in japanese literature and cinema, by the people directly affected by them, and the exclusion of the suffering of japanese civilians in oppenheimer is also a direct reflection on how the man himself did not care nor did the american military leadership at large” which to be fair i have seen people make and thats a fair point!! but it can still co exist with the observation that wide spread acknowledgement of the suffering of the people of NM has never been given main stream time of day even when its something thats causing pain and grief to this day. and people have the right to question if a 3h movie about oppenheimer even needs to exist, and can it even exist with out glorifying the man in one way or another even if looks at oppenheimer the person and his actions critically. in which case its fair to ask ”should this have even been made, was it worth it?”

but then the shit that makes the public discourse actually intolerably annoying and infuriating is the people making jokes about nukes and about people who rightfully point out how devastating they and the manhattan project were (the other day i saw a woman on twitter talking about how her grandmother grew up near the test sites and how most of her peers developed leukimia, and she was met with replies making fun of her grandmother with the fucking coughing baby meme), the wave of sympathy (intentional or not) the movie has generated towards oppenheimer the person (ive seen people treat him like hes a fictional character?? especially with all the barbenheimer shit) and the usual surface level criticisms like ”oh the movie doesnt pass the betchel test :(” that make all criticism of the movie look stupid simply through association. like lets all kill our selfs at this point ok and never speak of this movie ever again. ok.

What is this? The greatest movie of all time?

Quite possibly yes. And i cant believe ive never seen this before now. The sweetest thing is about a group of best friends who dance, drink, have fun, and generally cause chaos wherever they go....

Cameron Diaz plays Christina Walters, the main character. She's every guys dream, but doesnt open up to them so they brush it off as her being a lesbian because its 2002.

Christina Applegate plays Courtney, shes fun, hilarious, gives legitamately good advice, and has a great pair of fake jugs.

Jimsmovieworld Hall of Famer Selma Blair plays Jane, shes stunning, lovely, and getting over a guy that left her and keeps ending up in ridiculous situations. During the course of the movie she fucks a guy in an elephant costume, takes a dress to the drycleaners after some guy busts on it and bumps into everyone shes ever met there, and accidentally gets a guys dick stuck in her mouth for hours during a blimpjob. Unreal. Selma Blair says she got the job as no one else wanted to do that scene.

The main plot of the movie revolves around Christina meeting Peter (Thomas Jane) in a club that she initially argues with but realises shes attracted to, she missed her chance to meet him at a party and remembers his brother (Jason Bateman) is getting married. Realising this is her only chance to see him again she decides to gatecrash the wedding with Courtney. But not before picking up these electric outfits from a local store...

The scene of them buying the dresses was fun. Basically all the scenes are fun? Love all the main actresses and they had such great rapport. They seemed like real friends and that always helps a movie be more enjoyable. Thought theyre were some hilarious moments, an occasional joke here and there that wasnt that funny, but when youre having this much fun, who cares.

The sweetest thing has flawless early 2000s vibes. Love the fashion. Enjoyed the song Strange Condition by Pete Yorn.

The Sweetest Thing was directed by Roger Kumble who also directed Selma Blair in Cruel Intentions (also the greatest movie of all time).

Was written by Nancy M Pimental who cameos as the girl who keeps throwing up in the club.

Just when you think the movie cant get any better, out of nowhere.... BANG!

PARKER POSEY PALOOZA!!!

Parker Posey plays Judy! The beautiful bride to be, except it turns out that shes actually set to marry Peter! Much to the ladies surprise. Despite receiving top billing Parker is unfortunately only in a few scenes, however she was excellent as always and really brightened up the screen. Looking good Parker.

The only other thing i want to mention is that maybe half an hour into the movie they go to a chinese restaurant and start singing a song about penises that escalates into a huge musical number that the entire restaurant gets involved in. Maybe because id just eaten a large space cake before i put this on, but i nearly choked to death. Its so unbelievably ridiculous and bizarre that i couldnt stop laughing for the full 5 minutes. It was unsurprisingly cut out of the US release and only appears on the unrated dvd. In a 20 year reunion interview, all three of the main actresses said theyd love to do a sequel. Fingers Crossed.

The Sweetest Thing received pretty brutal reviews. I think this movie was very much ahead of its time in terms of having a female cast do a comedy with R rated or even just gross out gags. Theyre seem to be lots of them now but people perhaps werent ready for them back then. To wrap things up, this is the greatest movie of all time and i cant wait to rewatch it.

I honestly agree with you on everything after ragnarok is not canon. Although I love Thor ragnarok, it’s an entertaining movie and ive seen it more times then I should, thinking about it now I’ve never seen Thor ragnarok as canon. it’s just been a movie that’s really shitty but entertaining, and funny when you don’t have context about the characters.

I just hate that it’s so disrespectful to the actual characters. AND what’s even worse, is that I did not even consider the movie disrespectful to the characters until I was on tumblr and found threads of old posts/things you’ve reblogged on why it is.

And everything after it, has come tumbling after.

People need to realise there’s a difference between entertaining cinema, vs actual good Quality cinema. Especially with something like marvel because it’s all “connected”. Marvel is choosing quantity over quality and it’s clearly showing.

Yup. Marvel-Disney has become the 'Five Minute Crafts' of movie making. They're pumping out multiple shows and movies annually, but there's hardly any substance to them anymore. Nothing actually connects in this so-called cinematic universe, but the promos and interviews will try to fool you into believing it.

There's no cohesive story, only easter eggs abound. They're mostly meaningless, because most of them have their roots in different storylines in the comics, not the movies. Like, wtf was Thanoscopter doing in the Loki series? Or why was Sylvie wearing the broken crown (which was originally worn by AoA Loki for very specific reasons)?

Moreover, every new entity boasts of bringing in a drastic change into the multiverse or having a powerful character like no other before them. Yet, all of this is forgotten in the next entity they release. Rinse repeat.

The problem with Ragnarok was that it wanted to be funnier and bigger than GOTG--a movie that somewhat broke the mold for MCU movies at that time. It constituted an unlikely team of antiheroes who became heroic, and it had a more zany kind of humour to it.

What Ragnarok didn't note was that GOTG had heart. It had zany humour, yes, but it also had plenty of poignant moments. It didn't make a joke out of everything, most certainly not the characters. Every character was handled carefully, their trauma and loss acknowledged despite their negative actions.

Ragnarok failed supremely at this. Bruce turned into a parody of anxiety attacks and 'useless' nerdiness (7 PhDs but can't fly a ship, haha). Loki--a character of a subjugated race, taken from his people, raised to hate his own race, a clear victim of Asgard's imperialistic and colonial agenda, was made fun of for simply existing. His trauma was ignored, his relationship to Thor was twisted to make Thor into a victim, and instead, his main oppressor, Odin, was glorified despite his war crimes and invasions. What more, the fact that Thor left Loki to die on Sakaar was glossed over and made into a joke. Valkyrie (she still doesn't have a name, even post l&t) was introduced as a slave trader (does anyone find it sus that a woman of colour was shown as a slave trader?) and this part of her life was never acknowledged again, not even by Bruce, even though she traded the hulk to the GM.

Thor...sigh, where do I even begin? Gone was the considerate and thoughtful Thor we had seen in TDW, the Thor who acknowledged his father's bad decisions and tried to counter them by putting his own life on the line. Gone was the Thor who held his dying brother in his arms and cried. Granted, canon Thor had his issues to overcome, but he was never crass and inconsiderate like Ragnarok Thor. Ragnarok not only uprooted Thor from his growing self awareness and growth, it uprooted him wholly from Asgard. Killed off his friends and killed off his home. And made a joke about it all.

There's so much more to say about that trash movie and it's confused purpose, but all in all, it put the first nail into the whole franchise' coffin. L&T is only a continuation of that, based in the same theme of ridicule and distasteful humour.

What rankles is that it could've been a great movie, had Chris and Taika taken their heads out of their respective asses for a bit to think it over. But they were too busy making toilet level jokes and jerking around the sets, ignoring the script (which btw had Thor admitting to his mistakes to Loki) and just improvising everything with their bs logic. Taika didn't even do his research on the characters.

And that's something he's proud of. A theme that has continued with the creators in other Marvel entities too.

I just feel very sad about it. Because phase 1 (even 2) Marvel was something if quality. Now, the characters these phases had established are either (unfairly) dead or completely unrecognisable. I no longer have any sense of anticipation for their new stuff. I don't even want to watch new movies or shows.*

"Being a lesbian isn't hard." Is a saying Ive heard for years, but it's not true. From an early age I never fit in. Growing up I hated being "girly" my favorite color was green I didn't like pink I hated my long hair I liked hanging around with the boys because listening to the girls talk about boys and princesses wasn't my thing, I preferred the video game talk and playing street hocky at lunch. Yes I did have a few close friends that were girls but that was it. I lied about having crushes on boys to the girls. I told my best friend I had a crush on her brother for years which wasn't the case. 

When people would talk about their movies crushes I always heard Captain America or Spiderman but I had a thing for Black Widow I told a few people that I liked Black Widow and that's when they started looking at me different and I never understood why. 

When the time came around to the LGBT talk in school I finally understood. I liked women. It felt wrong. It felt unnatural. I went home that day and I googled about it, Thats when I seen many different opinions people thought it was disgusting and that if you felt that way that you'll burn in hell and others said it was fine to feel that way. That's when I decided to not tell anyone.

I would hear boys make jokes and talk about how being gay is wrong and gross, which I would tell them that it's completely normal and you shouldn't be talking about that because it could hurt people and that's when I first got accused of being a lesbian. I denied and told them no I'm not, then the rumours started. 

I lost most of my guy friends at the time but I gained some female friends and that was the best thing that could've happened, girls weren't bad people and being "girly" wasn't a bad thing. I started dressing more feminine and I enjoyed it. I eventually gained the courage to come out to a couple of people and they accepted me. I started to feel normal. 

When I started dating it was scary. There would be times that I would get "Love sick". I love love but I hate it even more. Break ups hurt so much. Accepting the fact that a female could love me was hard. Getting told that lesbian relationships aren't that serious. Or how lesbian break ups aren't hard. But no straight person would ever understand lesbian relationships. Sure they can get second hand information but they would never experience it first hand. 

Hearing boys talk about how hot lesbians are or even just googling the word lesbian the top fill ins are pornhub or simply porn websites. It's disgusting the way lesbians are sexualized for simply being a woman who loves women.

 Still to this day I get called names "Faggot" "Lesbian freak" "Lesbo" I try not to let it affect me anymore but it still does sometimes. Some days I'll be just walking around outside and a random group of boys will yell at me how I'm a faggot. 

Am I ashamed of who I am anymore? 

No I'm not.

star trek in modern times, is even worse than disney star wars. And thats completely disregarding the actually good parts like the rebels final season and mandalorian. Its miles worse than Rise of Skywalker. Like i genuinely got sick reading an interview of the making of picard, and the writer basically saying that the title character, who wanted to save billions of innocent lives, was the same as a colonialist supremacist, because he(A white man) tried to save an entire setient race from planetary destruction because... Well basically because he was a white man trying to play the role of a "savior", and so deserved scorn and mockery for believing they needed his help(And they did, the vast majority of them fucking died with their planet, when his higher ups essentially told him and his humanitarian efforts to go fuck themselves). Basically he was the one guy who stuck to his principles and the ideals of basic human decency and wanted to actually try and help, and the writers thought he was a colonialist for even trying to do so. And thats just ONE of the many, many, MANY terrible bits of writing from modern star trek.

I dunno, that sounds exactly like Star Trek Next Gen to me. A lot of those episodes try to be all Metaphor about some social issue, aim for Center-Left in their politics, and somehow only end up hitting "no one should ever use transporters for anything."

Yes, this is the entire list. But I admit I haven't seen everything, just all the classic movies and random samplings from the various series. Yes, that includes "The Wrath of Kahn" and "The Best of Both Worlds" Neither really grabbed me.

But I'll give Star Trek this: "The Trouble with Tribbles" lived up to all the hype and was spectacular. The DS9 follow-up, sadly, seems to have been made after everyone involved in the franchise forgot what comedy is; I could see that episode striving to make a joke, but it could never quite get its hands on the right ingredients.

I mean, there's a reason Star Trek started on a major television network, shrank down to a more obscure network, and then eventually died. Maybe it should have chased trends and/or tried to be real scifi earlier. It's why I'm so confused why anyone thought that Star Trek could be a draw for Paramount+, beyond getting the die-hard Starfleet-uniform-owning super-fans as a guaranteed audience.

But even if they're making weird extremist arguments for what they're doing with all the new Trek (and I admit I'll a little doubtful that your summary is capturing the full message), at least there's an attempt to put some kind of perspective into the story. Junk like 'The Rise of Skywalker' is terrible partially because the only meaning to be derived from it is what's there by accident. There's no coherent voice to it. It's pure derivative mush, poisoned by panicked attempts to please the worst kind of fans.

So being bad for reasons besides being boring garbage is actually doing fairly well for Star Trek. I applaud the new writers. XD

Sorry. If it sounds like I'm being really harsh to Star Trek, it's because I am. ;) I've never understood the appeal, beyond finding that the original Kirk/Spock/Bones dynamic could be enjoyable to watch if it wasn't buried in super-boring hour-long trudges. My brother loves to watch reruns of the various series, but it's never done anything for me when it isn't being a full-on comedy and/or ripping off Star Wars.

Dont ask any of the cast and crew to talk about this.

The movie is being put on hold indefinitely. It may never get picked back up.

Stop making memes and jokes about this, its insensitive and disgusting. Someone died.

Quit speculating. We dont have all the information right now.

Update on Oct 24:

Im making an update. Ive been trying to stay updated with this the past few day but ive been busy with work.

Yes ive seen that Baldwin was told it was a cold gun and there were no live rounds in it. And that there actually was a live round in it. Baldwin is NOT at fault for this. He was holding the gun and fired it. He was also told it was safe to do so.

That is the fault of the prop master for not checking. And whoever told Baldwin its safe to use.

Those of you still making jokes about this are disgusting.

And others saying that Baldwin did this on purpose or he should be sued are also disgusting. Yes he is the producer but its not his job to check every little thing on set. Thats not a producers job.

ON HEATHERS THE MOVIE/MUSICAL

So I’ve been a fan of Heathers for quite a while now, I’ve seen this movie for probably more than 20 times in less than half a year and I’ve read multiple essays analyzing both the movie and the characters. Ive seen video reactions, opinions, interviews of both the actors and Daniel Waters and I’ve read the original script not to mention I’ve seen the 2014 musical.

I mention all of this because i wanna talk about why the 2014 musical is a complete piece of garbage and should have never existed at all.

I think to start explaining why the musical doesn’t work i have to explain the obvious shit.

Heathers is on nature absurd, the movie is absurd anyone who sees it and isn’t use to absurd satire will get the wrong impression of it as i have seen a million times in video reactions, people don’t understand it and see it as a chaotic nonsense and even though it infuriates me to no end, I don’t blame them after all not all of us are into this kind of humor and definitely not everyone gets it, but back to the point.

This movie is absurd and nonsensical at first sight, but that’s the point of it, you come in expecting another cheesy 80s movie and get out being thrown into a ride with unexpected turns and turns or whatever. The reason is very simple, its meant to cause a strong reaction on the viewers, is meant to make you feel something is not quite right, that can’t be all? There most be something deeper than lame jokes and dietcoke heads, right? Right? Well yes in fact there is, but most people don’t go that second step and is painfully obvious the musical writers didn’t reach the second step or just didn’t even care to reach it because their musical is awful, its like you put heathers in a blender, add completely different ingredients and then make your dog eat it and vomit it right after. Disgusting, annoying and just straight up shit., but back to the point.

Satire searches to make fun of a statement, wether it is politic, religious, social, economic etc. it feeds on polemic topics to create comedy, most cynical people enjoy it because it tells them what they already thought themselves, but gives them a good laugh about it and if isn’t obvious by now, Heathers is an absurd satire that searches to critique multiple things at once, but all surrounding one topic, adolescence and the absurdity of its culture.

Something’s it critiques is first the most obvious one, the glorification of suicide and the absurd level of god complex people who commit suicide are put upon, treated as innocent angels loved and adore by everyone also adding up how hypocrite people can be when it comes to suicide, but that one is obvious lets talk to another elements it also critiques.

>The romanization of youth and teenage years.

>A parody of teenage movies, especially cheesy 80s romance movies

>stereotypical tropes

>mental illness and its romanization

>the teenagers culture (you know like mean girls,jocks, nerds, geeks, goths etc.) More specifically American teenage culture (as a Mexican i can tell you there is a teenage culture, but it's pretty different)

And i could keep going, but this movie is a whole other level, it takes all those topics and makes a critique about it even if in a minimum level, it gives you a sense of absurdity because at the end of the day its absurd, how society treats this is absurd because at the end high school ends, you’re not gonna be in high school forever.

Not to mention it makes an allegory on power dynamics and how high school politics are a mirror of politics in society.

One thing most people don’t understand when seeing heathers is that this movie is about power, is how we use that power and how it affects the people around us.

As an allegory to capitalism, we complain about the injustice of salary and how the middle class and low class have to keep working like dogs to be able survive and how we wanna change this somehow, but most once they reach power (yk being famous and rich) they benefit from this injustice and take a role of a viewer, its not that they are classist they just decide is easier to adjust to the new gained benefit then do anything about it.

Those same dynamics are explored in Heathers as well, Veronica used to be best friends with Betty Finn, a way less cool girl, nerdy in a more stereotypical way and not exactly bullied, but not loved just yk your average girl, but once Veronica joins the Heathers is painfully obvious how their dynamic changes, Veronica gains power, but Betty doesn’t and that makes Veronica have a force of authority over her instead of a equal friendship, but a more explicit example is the parallel ex friendship between Heather Duke (green heather) and Martha, literally the most bullied girl in school.

Once Heather is one of well the Heathers, she gains not only power, but protections, this doesn’t mean the system doesn’t pray upon her (after i'll show why she’s also a victim), but she definitely is way more privileged than poor Martha.

Martha is made fun by the three heathers and all the school, shes ugly, fat, untalented, alone, has no friends and people assume she's stupid, but nobody does anything to fix this not even Veronica (our protagonist) because Veronica is the perfect example of, I don’t agree with this system or its rules, but I don’t do anything to fix it because it benefits me as well so is easier for me to stay in my comfort zone than risk getting thrown out to the lowest level of the food chain.

There’s more, but i think this (which is literally presented to us in the first minutes of the movie) represents a lot how Daniel Waters (script writer of heathers) plays with real life power dynamics and shows us how obviously parallel they are to teenagers school dynamics or at least American school dynamics, or yk how they are shown in media and perceived by the public.

Why am i saying this? Well because i wanted to leave extremely clear how this movie was made, why it was made and why the musical doesn’t work, but to explain why the musical doesn’t work first i have to explain why the movie works, so this is gonna be pretty, pretty long, maybe I’ll divide it in two parts, yk what I'll do because it's to long and most people won't read it if it's too long, this already is quite long.

Part one this one or more parts where i go deep into the movie and it’s construction and part two where i start explaining what goes wrong in the musical and if this actually has support i might as well do more personal analysis on characters, opinion about certain stuff etc.
