Early morning reminder that trans men are men except this isn’t for your typical transphobe but rather often other people in the community who are shocked and disgusted when trans men actually want to look like masculine men when they transition and don’t fit into the stereotype of trans men being thin androgynous white boys.

#for the record there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a thin androgynous white boy y’all are doing great sweetie #but masculine trans men exist #trans men with body hair exist #trans men of all body types exist #there are trans men of color #there are disabled trans men #not everybody wants to be a soft pretty boy and also stop infantalizing trans men who do like those looks and aesthetics #some trans men even want to pass as cis men and there is literally NOTHING wrong with that #I think part of the reason we see so many ‘trans women are women’ posts and barely ever mentions of ‘trans men are men’ #is because people don’t like to admit that anyone would /want/ to be a man #because they’re still stuck in their grade school ‘girls rule boys drool’ mindset #I’m sorry I always think of this post where somebody was openly /disappointed/ that a trans man looked like a man #rather than an androgynous or feminine leaning pretty boy #don’t say you support trans people if you can’t handle the idea of trans men presenting as men

I agree with even in transmasc spaces on Tumblr that there is the undertone of only accepting who they perceive to fit into the "soft boy" category. I also saw a post that completely misinterpreted yours into not shaming trans men that are white, average weight, and prefer to present femininity. I've known someone who is non-binary (they didn't state they were transmasc or transfemme), but people have slapped labels onto them left and right to fit their personal fantasy.

 That person clearly didn’t see the original tags in which the first one was “for the record there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a thin androgynous white boy y’all are doing great sweetie” because while I feel strongly about my original post, I also feel like GNC trans men get a bad rap for being “responsible” or some shit for that stereotype when they literally did NOTHING wrong just by existing, I just feel like the community on tumblr hates men so much that it comes back around to demonizing trans men who are too masculine for their tastes. 

 That’s such a fucked up thing to do, I think everybody, including other trans/non-binary people need to remember that trans/non-binary people don’t exist to fill anyone’s fantasy or fetish.
