could fern leaf be a former park cat or something that clear sky sends to spy on tall shadow & then defects? or, since she’s important to the rescue of star flower in the books, maybe she could be involved with one-eye somehow…? even though star flower is totally different now, so she doesn’t really Need rescuing from any situation she’s in that you’ve talked about so far. guess it depends on which aspects of the character best serve the story, and whether she would work better as part of DOTC proper or thunder’s SE
i also genuinely can’t remember if bb!clear sky’s original M.O. for his group is Tribe Cats Only, or if he is willing to take in anyone who kisses his ass enough. could make sense if fern leaf (or more accurately, any tom willing to vouch for her) appeals to clear sky enough. hell, maybe she could be a mole on one-eye’s behalf instead?
(Follow up ask to this post)
The new rub to the formation of the groups in BB is that there is two distinct cultures in the forest: Park Cats and Tribe Cats. They're divided by a language barrier, with the Park Cats speaking Parkmew and the Tribe cats speaking what we now call Old Tribemew.
So Clear Sky doesn't have the same "options" like canon. These ""rogues"" don't speak his language and he simply would not learn even if the chance was offered to him. It doesn't even really cross his mind that these are full people to reach out to; in his mind they're intruders. The flavor of bigotry in the modern era hasn't quite evolved yet, so he has the most straightforward kind of xenophobia you can imagine.
He only starts changing his mind after the First Battle, after his revelation, when he's back on his bullshit in Thunderstar's Justice. In my head it's kind of like... a mockery of Thunder Storm's way of life, that allowed him to live in defiance of him for so long. "See, now I do what you do. Since Gray Wing approved of you so much." kinda thing
There's two park cat groups; The River Kingdom, and The Wind Coalition.
The first conflict the Sun Trail Pioneers run into is with WindCo up on the moor, who chases them down into the forest! The Park cats who lived in the forest weren't united, just various individuals that had little "homestead" territories.
The conflicts with them start after the Shadow/Sky split that follows the death of Jagged Peak. Shadow's Clan moved eastward into the caves at Snakerocks, where no one bothered them, but Sky's Clan started getting hostile towards the little homesteads and pushing cats westward, back to the River Kingdom.
SO with that recap out of the way...
I have two and a half-ish cats already that I'm heavily interested in using to turn on Clear Sky for Thunder's Clan. So I'm not sure how to slot Fern Leaf in there.
1: Snake. Snake is the only cat in-canon who said that maybe Clear Sky shouldn't be their leader after letting One Eye into the Clan against all warnings, and then he gets DOGPILED for it, and the very next book shoves him into the arms of Slash to undermine the fact that they accidentally gave him a good fucking point.
I'm RIDICULOUSLY fond of him because of this. I love him out of spite. I've spoken before about how I plan for him to be a Tribe-descended cat, and a lot of that is because I want to keep his goon roles serving Clear Sky. One of which is that he is going to badly injure Sunlit Frost in the First Battle.
So thinking about it... it makes the most sense for Snake to turn on Clear Sky in Thunderstar's Justice. Still unsure when. But if I have any roles where a cat needs to get help, stop a battle, or call Clear Sky out for making a really bad decision, it's gotta be him.
I'll keep him in my hand for a while; this feels like a piece that will fall into place.
I'm also unsure of what family he's going into. I keep waffling on it. I'm leaning towards the Claw family and possibly the son of Fox, since he's going to be living a bit longer. He's going to be about the same age as Thunder Storm, maybe a bit older.
2: Red Claw Since Acorn Fur is now Acorn Swoop, and she's not nonsensically going to go join the guy who killed both of her parents because it would be too sad to go home where they're not alive, her love interest has to end up in Thunder's Clan.
I'm already pretty committed to making Petal into Petal Claw and Fox into Fox Claw, so it follows that Red Claw would be in the family. Thinking about it, maybe Red should be the son of Fox instead...
Especially because he could defect earlier. Moth Flight's Vision is totally overhauled anyway and I'm planning to shift a lot of the original plot to something for another character anyway...
Plus, enemies-to-lovers is fun and I haven't really had a chance to do it yet. Acorn Swoop is absolutely the kind of punk who would nab one of her worst enemy's best soldiers, and the type of nerd who would frame it like her biggest catch yet.
("OI THUNDER!! LOOKIE WHAT THE CAT DRAGGED IN")
And most relevantly... this is leaving Fern Leaf's backstory up in the air. Him leading a dog pack into the heart of camp and getting Beech and Frog killed is what kicked off the Bunny Bones plot of the original MFV that I like so much, and I feel like it's an important part of Fern Leaf.
So not only am I here planning Red Claw as a high priority for being someone to turn against Clear Sky, but also, he complicates Fern Leaf a bit.
Maybe I should step back a bit on the two and start from scratch with them, and replace their backstories with new ones that preserve the "emotional core." I'll have to think about it.
That 1/2 Cat: Alder or Birch The kits that are stolen from Misty, that queen who was murdered by Clear Sky and whose kits are given to Petal. In BB, that's something I want to examine for how fucked up it is. It becomes the basis of Kit Stealing later, an awful practice that the Clans will struggle with for many generations.
These ones are SUPER important, but I say 1/2 because it doesn't have to be Thunder's Clan they turn for. But I do want one of them to eventually learn their origin, and end up finding their family in River Kingdom or the Wind Coalition.
I mention them because I keep going back and forth on if they're going to get combined with other characters. Basically imagine me next to a big conspiracy chart and I'm connecting a big red line between possible plot threads back to Fern Leaf. Maybe her? Maybe she can be one of the stolen kits?
I could even make it so Birch is actually an older sibling, or a half-sibling, or one from the same litter who was saved... maybe even end up making it a litter of 4. Slots in well with her canon story, too, where she mentions her mother abandoned her.
The truth can be that it was a lie. Her mother didn't abandon her. One of them was murdered and the other was chased off.
And, of course, I could save her to be a "One Eye Cultist." None of my drafts so far have brought in any extra followers of One Eye who will follow him from place-to-place besides Star Flower herself. I would like to add some, and that's a fine place for Fern Leaf, but somehow I feel like I can do her better.

Let’s give it up for the most dysfunctional family in the history of Warrior cats…that’s right it’s the CrowNight family. Illustrated by the lovely @noxvoca who keeps letting the team post their work! Who is in the CrowNight family exactly? Well three Windclan cats in particular and arguably a few others. The main participants are the father Crowfeather, the mother Nightcloud and their son Breezepelt. Breezepelt also has a family as he’s mates with Heathertail. They have four kits, Smokehaze, Appleshine, Brindlewing & Woodsong, all sisters from two separate litters. But don’t worry too much about them, the focus here is Breezepelt and his parents.
It’s no secret that this family is completely dysfunctional. There is plenty of arguments, drama and chaos surrounding them. But before I get into that, I should explain who each character is so you have some context for their actions. ⚠️ Spoilers for the following: The New Prophecy arc, The Power of Three arc, Omen of the Stars arc, Vision of Shadows arc, Broken Code arc, Crowfeather’s Trial super edition, Leafpool’s Wish novella, and some other books.⚠️ You have been warned, if you haven’t read these books and don’t want to get spoiled stop reading now. Thank you. Okay, let’s start with Crowfeather first. He was originally born to Ashfoot & Deadfoot and at a young age, he was selected to represent Windclan on the journey to the Sundrownplace, this journey helped find a new home for the clans as their old one was to be destroyed. Crowpaw, at the time, travelled with a bunch of other cats from different clans. These cats include, Brambleclaw & Squirrelpaw of Thunderclan, Tawnypelt of Shadowclan and Stormfur & Feathertail of Riverclan. During this trip, Crowpaw became extremely close to Feathertail, the two of them shared a mutual crush on each other. On the journey back to the clans, Feathertail ends up sacrificing her life to save the Tribe of Rushing Water from Sharptooth, a fierce mountain lion who was killing off tribe cats. Crowpaw is devastated and returns home to Windclan in mourning. He takes his name, Crowfeather after Feathertail and wants to honor her for the rest of his life. However, Crowfeather accidentally falls in love again, this time with Thunderclan’s medicine cat apprentice Leafpool. The two of them decide to run away from the clans to be together but duty calls Leafpool back and she ends up breaking it off with Crowfeather. Upset over loosing love again, Crowfeather returns to Windclan and takes a Windclan she-cat called Nightcloud as a mate to prove his loyalty to his clan. Nightcloud & him have one litter, where only a single kit survives, Breezekit. Unbeknownst to Crowfeather, Leafpool was also carrying his kits. She has Lionkit, Hollykit & Jaykit in secret and gives them to her sister Squirrelflight to raise as her own. When the kits grow up, they discover the secret and Hollyleaf reveals it at a gathering, which shocks Crowfeather. Crowfeather denounces his new family and swears loyalty to Windclan. Later he becomes deputy of his clan. I already spoke a bit about Nightcloud. She doesn’t have much backstory expect for taking Crowfeather as a mate and having Breezepelt. She does have a hatred for Leafpool and her kits, believing Crowfeather to be hers. However later on in Crowfeather’s Trial, she does make peace with Crowfeather. Agreeing to get along for their son’s sake.
Breezepelt on the other hand is more developed. He was born as the only surviving kit on his litter and grew up with a distant father. Breezepaw was apprenticed to Whitetail and was increasingly arrogant due to feeling left out of his father's attention. He would pick fights whenever he could and eventually thought Crowfeather hated him. He became an angry cat in his youth. As a warrior, Breezepelt developed a deep hatred toward Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather after it was revealed they were his half-siblings. As Breezepelt began to train in the Dark Forest, his hatred for his half-siblings and father grew stronger. He became a mentor to Boulderfur, and during the Great Battle, he fought for the Dark Forest; however, they were defeated, and after the battle, Crowfeather nearly disowned him. WindClan believed Breezepelt should be driven out, but Onestar insisted on giving him another chance. To prove his loyalty, Breezepelt bravely fought the stoats on WindClan territory, especially after Nightcloud's disappearance. After the battle with the stoats, Crowfeather and Breezepelt reconciled, and he made amends with Lionblaze, now growing to respect his half-brother. Eventually, Heathertail became his mate, and together they had four kits, Smokekitand Brindlekit in their first litter, and Applekit and Woodkit in their second.
The question often posed relating to this family is “Who is to blame for the dysfunction?” Some fans point to Crowfeather as he was distant with Breezepelt and some say he never loved him. He was only with Nightcloud to keep his status in Windclan and he does show affection to Leafpool in front of his Windclan family. Other fans say that Nightcloud was to blame, she was overprotective of Breezepelt and taught him to be hateful. She acts out of jealousy and even physically attacks Crowfeather to rip him away from Leafpool. Still, others blame Breezepelt, he let his anger swallow him and trained in the Dark Forest. He attacked a blind medicine cat and helpless queen. He chose to fight on the side of the Dark Forest in the Great Battle instead of protecting his clan. He was glad Hollyleaf was killed in the Great Battle. Honestly, in my opinion, everybody here is partly to blame. Crowfeather could have been more loving, Nightcloud could have been less jealous and protective and Breezepelt could have been less angry. Overall though, nothing could have been done. This relationship was toxic from the beginning as the whole thing was started for selfish reasons. Crowfeather wanted to prove his loyalty and Nightcloud wanted a family.
But I want to know what YOU think. Who do you think is to blame for the dysfunctional nature of the CrowNight family? Who could have done better? Was there anything that could/should have been done? Do you think Crowfeather & Nightcloud should have stayed together? Leave all your thoughts, opinions and feedback in the comments below. Longstar Au Thunderclan Boogaloo
First, i’d like to thank all of you for your support of my au, I was really surprised at the support!  Seriously thank you!!
Second, some details I forgot to mention last time.  Cinderpaw still gets hit by the car, but instead of being forced into being a medicine cat, she genuinely enjoys working with Fireheart and Yellowfang.  Flamewish makes a bunch of jokes about how her brother stole her apprentice, but she’s just glad Cinderpaw survived.  And Longstar still gets kicked in the face by the rabbit, but manages to turn his head at the last second.  He still loses some of his vision, but only about half - as he ages it gets worse, but by the time he goes completely blind, he’s got a grandkit that helps him work through his struggles.
Anyway, onto the next part!
In the space between book canon, Longstar is out looking for a juicy mouse for his hungry wife, who’s caring for their first kits, when he’s caught off guard by the scent of dog.  To his dismay, he finds a ravaged dead dog with a large grey molly breathing her last nearby.  She rasps out for something in the dark, and passes.  Longstar looks around, and finds a terrified kit hiding under a nearby bush, bleeding from a paw.  After a rushed run back to camp, the kit is treated by Fireheart and Cinderpelt, and Flamewish scoops up the traumatized kit to snuggle with Swiftkit and Foxkit.  It’s quickly agreed he’s staying with Flamewish, and Longstar deduces he’s the Dark that the molly was referencing, and Dark-kit is officially adopted by the leader of Thunderclan.  Canon continues until...
Swiftpaw comes to her father, worried that her problems hunting and anxiety outside of camp will keep her from being a warrior.  Longstar remembers a tale about a warrior who guarded the camp after an injury crippled him, and works with her mentor Mistlenose to get her up to speed on hunting, while working with Fireheart and Cinderpelt with her anxiety.  Foxpaw and Darkpaw join her to be supportive, and Darkpaw discovers a love of healing, leading to him apprenticing under Cinderpelt.  Canon continues until...
Ashfur!  He has zero romantic intentions towards Foxfur - for one, she’s his niece!  Ew!  Also he has a mate - Flyshadow, Frostfoot’s daughter.  They’re holing off on having kits for now, but are absolutely smitten with each other. Flyshadow’s brother Coldlight has a crush on Sandstorm, but with his selective mutism and shyness, he’s never told her.  Canon continues until...
Brambleclaw!  Foxpaw absolutely bothers the snot out of him, but he has a plan - he hates the leaders of Thunderclan, despises Whitestorm for betraying his old friend, and Longstar for usurping his father’s rightful place.  That's right, Brambleclaw is a Tigerstar apologist.  His mother and sister have no idea how much he idolizes his father, or that his ghost has been visiting him in the night.  His plan is to use Foxpaw to get close to Longstar, and eventually usurp the old foxheart Whitestorm, then murder Longstar and return Thunderclan to a pure, kittypet free clan, feared by the other clans.  So he puts up with her, hoping to get closer so he can enact he and his father’s plan.  Canon continues until...
The new Prophecy!  Fireheart has a vision of a flaming cat and a shadowy tiger. and Foxpaw starts having strange dreams.  She meets up with the others, with Brambleclaw following behind, claiming she needs “a real warrior” to back her up.  Tawnypelt is happy to see her brother, but a bit suspicious - he seems like he’s hiding something.  Foxpaw and the older Crowpaw bond over their status as apprentices, and after a while, Crowpaw opens up about his phobia of water.  He tells Foxpaw and a supportive Feathertail about his adoption into Windclan, and how the first thing he can remember is drowning, and then being dragged out of the water by twolegs.  He fled, and was found wandering Windclan by Deadfoot, and adopted.  The three create a strong friendship, which continues canonically until...
The Tribe! Feathertail is still the silver cat of the prophecy, but survives just barely, breaking her back and becoming paralyzed.  Stormfur promises to come back for her, plus he still falls for Brook.  The rest of the gang continues on by canon until...
The trapped cats and Shrewpaw!  Sandstorm is the one who gets driven off instead of Graystripe, and the clans all mourn her as if she died.  Shrewpaw manages to yeet himself farther than canon, getting clipped on the hip and spun across the road.  He drags himself back to Thunderclan, pheasant clenched in his mouth.  His hind leg never fully heals, but he throws himself into cat-physical therapy with Cinderpelt to get back on his feet. Canon continues until...
The return!  The cats are greeted lovingly by their families if not the rest of their clans, and Foxpaw and Crowpaw become Foxflight and Crowfeather.  Shrewpaw, now Shrewleg, and Ashfur help Foxflight mourn for Sandstorm, her mentor.  Brambleclaw sees this, and feels a surge of jealousy - that’s HIS Foxflight, his pawn!  But he holds it together, fake consoling Whitestorm.  Canon continues until...
The elders!  Mudfur is still ill, and Frostfur, Speckletail, Loudbelly, and Shadepelt decide to stay with him.  However, Flamewish insists in giving them a chance, and convinces them to go to her previous Twolegs home, where they’re taken in and cared for like kittypet royalty by the twolegs and their neighbors, as they deserve.  Canon continues until...
Smokepaw falls!  Russetfur spots him clinging desperately to a root, and Mudclaw bravely climbs down, retrieving the terrified apprentice from his certain doom.  Everyone breathes a sigh of relief.  Canon continues until...
The Tribe again!  Graystripe is reunited with Feathertail, who’s flattered by Crowfeather’s requested name.  Darkpaw has the vision of Spottedleaf, and the clans marvel at the Lake Territory. Canon continues until...
Hawkfrost and Mothwing finally meet up with Brambleclaw, but their conversation is interrupted when Mothwing spots Crowfeather, and thinks she’s seeing a ghost - but then Hawkfrost is like, wait, I see him too?  And Crowfeather is startled, but, do I know you?  And it’s officially revealed that Crowfeather is Tadpole!  A joyous, if slightly confused sibling reunion takes place, and Crowfeather gets to introduce his adopted family to his missing siblings!  The only one not delighted is Brambleclaw, furious at being upstaged.  But he feigns delight at the events.  Canon continues until...
The death of a leader.  Tallstar passes, but with Mudclaw at his side.  He begs his Deputy to treat the other clans with kindness, as he treated Smokepaw.  Mudclaw is fervent in his promise to be a better leader than he has been a Deputy. Onewhisker is seen talking angrily to Brambleclaw, but Brambleclaw dismisses suspicions by claiming to be trying to calm his fellow warrior down. Canon continues until...
The moonpool!  Darkpaw follows the spirit of Spottedleaf, and finds the Moonpool.  At the next half-moon, he’s named Darkmoon.  Canon continues until...
The Windclan Revolt! Onewhisker attacks Mudclaw on his way to becoming leader.  Things go mostly the same, with Swiftpool being saved by Crowfeather and the following Feelings Confession, but this time it’s Foxflight and Longstar chasing down Onewhisker.  He’s nearly crushed by the tree, but instead is knocked clear, breaking his hind legs and cracking him on the skull.  Mudclaw calls for the medicine cats, and when Onewhisker wakes later, he has no recollection from the start of the Journey onward, and professes no animosity towards Mudclaw. Now Mudstar chooses to spare him and he is confined to the medicine den until he heals. Canon continues until...
Way different romantic drama!  Foxflight and Shrewleg fell hard for each other on the Journey, and Ashfur and Flyshadow just decided to start trying for kits.  It’s too bad Brambleclaw keeps starting rumors about secret relationships.  They go nowhere fast, and Brambleclaw scrambles to keep a hold of his plans.  Crowfeather and Swiftpool keep meeting up in secret, and consider running.  During this time, Darkmoon finds out about the Tigerstar training program, and warns not Brambleclaw, but Hawkfrost, about the consequences of his actions.  Hawkfrost mulls over when he tried to drop a moth wing by the medicine den, but one was already there.  Canon continues until...
The Badger attack!  Midnight warns the runaways and they return, but not in time to save Cinderpelt.  Flamewish spots Crowfeather, does that math-circling-the-lady meme, and drags Crow, Swift, Fox, and Longstar into the den after the fight, and commands the nervous duo to spill it right now sO HELP ME STARCLAN!  And they spill it, the whole secret romance. There’s a moment of silence, then Foxflight starts the Traditional Thunderclan Threats to a Siblings Datefriend, Lonstar assures Crowfeather and Swiftpool he isn’t angry, while Flamewish demands details of the love confession, was it passionate?!?!  This leads to Longstar and Mudstar hashing out a deal - as long as their clans are at peace, the two can be in a relationship.  This deal eventually spreads to the other clans, allowing more cross-clan relationships. (Deadfoot is simultaneously disappointed and impressed by his son, Mudstar can’t stop laughing) Canon continues until...
The blood on the lake.  Brambleclaw snaps, and lures Longstar to the lake, where he’s foxtrapped.  Hawkfrost is visited in his dreams by Yellowfang, who yells at him to wake up and stop his idiot half-brother gET UP OR SO HELP ME STARCLAN!!! (Yes this is exactly where Flamewish gets it from)  Hawkfrost makes it to the shore as Longstar falls, and knocks Brambleclaw off the Thunderclan Leader.  The two tussle, and Hawkfrost frees Longstar, killing Brambleclaw with the stake.
Sometime later, Swiftpool tells Crowfeather she’s pregnant.
And that’s it for the moment!  Next up, the Three, the return of Sandstorm, and Sol that smarmy heretic.  Thanks for reading, and I appreciate your support!

Figuring out cat ages: The Followers of the Sun Trail
So, y’all remember that fic concept I threw out? Yeah, I decided I want to actually write it. But first, I need to figure out some cat ages because if we’re touching on the kithoods of Clear Sky and Gray Wing I need to have some sense of who are their peers and who are their seniors. I’m deciding to throw it out to the internet just in case anyone has thoughts of their own or can smack me with some textual evidence of why I’m wrong. Also, it’s just fun to map out cat ages and relationships, I’m having way more fun than I’ve ever had with this kind of prepwork for some reason.
For reference, let me throw some useful pages from the Warriors wiki: here’s the allegiances for The Sun Trail, and here’s a timeline of events of the whole series. I’m cross-referencing these with my own copies of the DotC books in case anything sounds fishy but by and large I trust the wiki.
For this particular post, I want to trace mostly the ages of the Followers of the Sun Trail, that is to say: Shaded Moss, Rainswept Flower, Tall Shadow, Moon Shadow, Cloud Spots, Dappled Pelt, Turtle Tail, Shattered Ice, Quick Water, Bright Stream, Hawk Swoop, Jackdaw’s Cry, Falling Feather, Clear Sky, Gray Wing, and Jagged Peak. Other than our protagonists we have very little evidence of any of their ages, but I like to think the group skews young adult which for the sake of these being cats I’m defining as around 1 to 2.5 years old. There are certainly older adults as well as younger members of the group, but the vast majority of ages will be in this range.
Future posts will touch on the ages of the rest of The Tribe of Rushing Water at this point in time as well as any parental relationships for cats who would’ve been kits within the timeframe of the story. I’m just going to say it up front, I’m going to just ignore fathers when figuring out families (aside from the one canonical father given I guess) because it’s less of a headache and I like the idea of queens just not being required to disclose parentage.
First off, our protagonists and their siblings!
Gray Wing and Clear Sky are noted to have been kits just last sunny season which the wiki interprets as them having been born in Greenleaf. I don’t particularly like this because that means that at maximum the two are about 8 moons old which... I don’t know it seems kinda young for them. I think a more sensible solution is to have them be around 12 moons/1 year old (we’re rounding down the 12.34 lunations a year for simplicity’s sake). I think it’s pretty reasonable for the journey down the mountains to have taken approximately one moon, with Newleaf just starting by the time they arrive. If Gray Wing and Clear Sky were born within the last moon of Leafbare, that would mean they are under 6 moons old (what the series takes as a benchmark of the transition out of kithood, though that may be a later cultural thing for the clans) for 2 out of the 3 moons of Greenleaf (again, working with simpler whole numbers) and I think that fits.
Now Jagged Peak and Fluttering bird are noted to have been born in the cold season which the wiki interprets as Leafbare and, yeah, no argument there. However, noting the fact that I take the journey to take the last moon of Leafbare, that would make the two a whole 2 MOONS OLD! Holy shit, Jagged Peak is a fucking infant by the start of the journey, just barely having been fully weaned! It’s honestly crazy how Quiet Rain just kind of accepted the fact he was gone and just sent out her son as the only means of protection. I would’ve been going feral in her place trying to get back my child!
Ahem, so that small freakout aside, I wanna talk about Shaded Moss, the leader of the group, next. However, he has a daughter, Rainswept Flower, and I can use her age as a benchmark for determining her father’s age. I like to think, for no particular reason, that she is 1.5 years old and just for the sake of making the numbers look nice I think I’m assigning Shaded Moss an age of 3 years old. That sounds about right.
Talking about the adults of the group, Cloud Spots! I want him to be somewhat older than Shaded Moss, perhaps by a year or two, so that sets our age range at about 4 to 5 years old. Considering the timeline says that the events of Dawn of the Clans take place over about 4 years (though for some reason the Shadowstar’s Life novella is still not included in the timeline and that seems to take place after the last events listed in the DotC era), I think it’s believable that he lived that long and is headed for retirement just as soon as he finishes mentoring his apprentice, Shivering Rose, who appeared in Thunderstar’s Echo.
So, for family relationships we have 2 sibling pairs which I believe while not explicitly stated are meant to be read as being littermates: Tall Shadow & Moon Shadow, and Jackdaw’s Cry & Falling Feather. Considering Tall Shadow is Shaded Moss’s second in command I like to think she’s closer to him in age so perhaps we can go with that upper limit of what I’m counting as young adult and have her and her brother at 2.5 years old. Now, for Jackdaw’s Cry & Falling Feather the best evidence we have is that the allegiances describe them as “young”. This is like... really vague and the fact there is a need to mention it implies to me they’re the youngest in the group, baring Jagged Peak. I think the most interesting choice would be to have them be a season younger than Clear Sky and Gray Wing, putting them at 9 moons old.
Now let’s talk about the love interests, Bright Stream and Turtle Tail! I want them to be older than our protagonists but still young enough that they would’ve spent a significant amount of time together as kits. I want to have them somewhere within the 13-15 moons old range just for the sake of having them be older than Clear Sky and Gray Wing but not by much, not really settled on a particular age. I also like the possibility of Turtle Tail being Dappled Pelt’s littermate so I’ll have her at 13-15 moons old too. We'll see if they remain sisters once I start having to figure out mothers for all the kits that will be running around when the story begins with Gray Wing and Clear Sky’s birth.
And last of the Followers of the Sun Trail I actually have any strong opinions on age about, Hawk Swoop, Jackdaw’s Cry’s mate. I think the best would be to have her be around the same age as Clear Sky and Gray Wing for the same reason I settled on Bright Stream and Turtle Tail’s age, plus the fact she’s not described as young. So she’s going to be at 12 moons old. I don’t think this is a particularly problematic age gap since there’s a whole 2 seasons in between them setting out for the journey and having Acorn Fur and Lightning Tail, time by which they are both within my somewhat arbitrarily designated category of young adult cats. So, yeah.
And to get them out of the way, Shattered Ice and Quick Water. I’ll just throw out the number 21 moons/1.75 years old. I think this range of ages within the spectrum was a bit empty so I’m just plopping them there.

I really loved your tags on that Alonzo GIFset, and I'd love to hear more of your headcanons about Macavity's hideout! :)
I'm actually in the midst of writing a massive outline for my fanfiction, so I'm going to give you what I have so far up to Part 4!!
Part 1:
Munkustrap and Macavity are currently involved in the first ever Jellicle Leader coalition. Macavity has been preaching and proselytising that Munkustrap isn't fit to lead and will destroy the tribe, and has convinced Old Deuteronomy to allow him to co-lead. He claims that the contorting of traditional Jellicle law will bring the wrath of the Everlasting Cat, though this is just fearmongering that he's using to try and persuade tribe members to put their faith in him as Leader. Munkustrap can see right through it, and knows Macavity is just bitter for not ever even being considered for Jellicle Leader, and is hungry for control and power. Coricopat advises him not to censor Macavity's preaching because it could convince more tribe members into thinking what Macavity is saying - that Munk has the potential to be tyranical if left to lead alone - could be true. Munk takes this advice, but does his best to assure those close to him that Macavity is talking out of his ass.
Meanwhile, Macavity has known since the beginning that the coalition is unstable and will most likely break down, so he's been establishing his own clan in Aldwych station. Any strays, or rehabilitated ferals are brought in and convinced to join through promises of shelter, food, leadership, and the protection of a tribe. Grizabella is Macavity's biological mother, but not Munkustrap or Tuggers. She personally believes Old D refused to consider him for leader because he is her son. She sympathises with Macavity and helps to establish and run the Aldwych Clan when he is away. As far as the other cats are aware, Grizabella simply abandoned the Jellicle Tribe.
The next Jellicle Ball will be Tugger's first, and he's due to perform his coming of age dance. While he is performing, Macavity begins to feel spiteful, and starts an argument with Munkustrap over how poorly Tugger has been trained. It escalates into a shouting match and eventually a physical fight - ultimately this is the final breakdown of the coalition. Tugger will blame himself for this split in the coming months. The coalition split causes a dramatic shift within the tribe itself. Sympathisers and followers of Macavity propose an exodus, and Mac encourages them - while Munkustrap maintains that no one should leave. Mac uses Munk's desperate feelings over this to further convince his followers that the Jellicle tribe is a cult, and they should go. Demeter and Rumpleteazer are both convinced to leave - Demeter being Mac's mate at the time, and Teazer being sympathetic to the idea of being an older sibling who has been neglected over the younger (Etcetera is her younger sister, and seems to get a lot more attention from Skimble than he gives to her. Clearly, Teazer is the most naive of the followers.)
Part 2:
Ultimately, Mac's followers leave and are surprised to find that they've been brought to a pre-established clan. They're brought to the main platform and sorted into toms and queens, that are then led to different sections of the station. Teazer and Demeter are brought to the harem, where both react with significant disgust and reject the proposal immediately. Bomba steps in to defend Demeter when Mac threatens her physically, and Macavity decides he'll leave them to talk - he expects Demeter and Rumpleteazer to comply by the time he gets back. Bomba reassures Demeter and says that she's safe - but Rumpleteazer refuses to stay, and leaves.
Unsure of where she should go, and being utterly lost in the tunnels, Teazer follows the sound of fighting and discovers a henchcat den where a gang of cats are harassing and bullying a smaller tom around her age. Still feeling heated from before, she doesn't stop to consider the danger and steps in to defend the tom. Her feisty nature and confidence actually works in intimidating the harassers, and they leave. She introduces herself, only to be completely rejected by the tom. She's surprised, calls him ungrateful - which she regrets later - and leaves. Teazer takes note of a map pinned on the wall that was once used by Underground workers to navigate maintenance tunnels. Now abandoned, the tunnels are now only home to the clan, and patrolling hench cats who are capturing and disposing of deserters. She takes note of where the den she just exited is before exploring. She ducks into a vent when she smells Macavity approaching down the hall.
Demeter explains to Bomba what happened at the tribe, and Bomba is equally as confused - not knowing that another tribe even existed in the area. She tells Demeter why the queens are here, and that Macavity has been trying to get kittens from them for months, only not to succeed. Either the queens simply are not getting pregnant, or those who do mysteriously disappear. Demeter is nervous, but is positive that her mate won't hurt her. The other queens give her unsure looks, but no one questions her.
Teazer hides in the vent until she is sure Macavity has left the hall, but as she's about to come out, she falls through a weak sheet of metal into another den. She lands right on a sleeping Alonzo - the Deputy of the henchcats, and almost has to fight for her life, until Alonzo realises that she's just a young moggie. He dismisses her, only to be met with fervent assurances that she can handle herself and could take him out if she really wanted to. Alonzo calls her reckless, and that her fighting skills are lacking. After some deliberation, he decides that he will train her as a henchcat. He lets her sleep the night in his den since it's late and curfew is already enacted.
Part 3:
The next morning, Demeter wakes up early to find Grizabella in the Queen's den - tidying an empty nest. Before she can say anything, the older cat slips away, and she falls back asleep - convinced it was a dream. Macavity makes an announcement on the intercom. He welcomes all new members, vaguely noting that those who have complied and remained have integrity and strength beyond their cowardly peers. Alonzo brings Rumpleteazer to the Morning role call, and when Macavity questions her presence, Alonzo simply assures him that she is his latest apprentice. Macavity scoffs at the idea, and tells Alonzo to return her to the harem when he finally gives up on her. The other henchcats laugh at this, but the tom from before stands nervously, watching her. She turns away from him and he leaves with a group of other cats. Teazer is about to follow them, but feels Alonzo's paw on her shoulder, and is reminded that she has training to do.
Demeter wakes up again and overhears Bomba and Cassandra talking with each other. Cassandra expresses concern for Demeter - that she has the "most potential" out of them all - presumably but not explicitly said to be the next to bear a litter. Demeter gets up and interjects with a morning greeting, and Cass slips away back to her nest. Bomba apologises on her behalf, explaining that she is a clairvoyant and can predict events, as well as read auras. Before she can explain more, Macavity enters the den and calls away one of the queens. She goes without objection, but looks back at Bomba with anxious eyes. Demeter asks what is going to happen to her, and Bomba reiterates that Macavity is trying to have as many kittens as he can - presumably to boost the clan's population as well as grow his bloodline. So far he hasn't been successful.
Meanwhile, at the Jellicle tribe, Munkustrap and Old Deuteronomy discuss the upheaval of their tribe. Munkustrap is concerned that the tribe will not be able to recover from this loss, and is quick to blame Coricopat for failing to advise him of this future. Old D firmly corrects him that it's not within Cori's powers to predict the future - and also reminds Munkustrap that the tribe - now more than ever - requires a strong, steadfast leader who can keep them together. Munk laments that he is not fit for this role, but Old Deuteronomy points out the cluster of cats in the clearing waiting for him to lead them. Old D also reminds him that he will not be around forever to lead the tribe, and that Munk must work with his advisers and community to restore order. Skimbleshanks is distraught at his daughter's absence, and begs Old Deuteronomy to bring her back. Old D explains that he can't force her to return, and she has to make her own way - but Skimble is adamant that she is in danger. Munkustrap assures him in confidence that he will do his best to bring her back for him.
Part 4:
Back at the Clan, Alonzo and Teazer have begun their training. Alonzo is quick to point out that Teazer is quick to enter fights that she may be unable to finish - and explains that not getting into fights at all should be a priority. Mediation bores her, and Teazer complains that there will surely be times that this decision is not within her hands - and that there will be times that she must fight. Alonzo agrees, and acknowledges her impatience, and they begin to practice defensive techniques. Teazer finds it difficult to defend against heavy blows, and is knocked on her ass a few times. Alonzo explains to her that she can't just stand there and take the hits when her body type isn't build for handling it. Instead he encourages her to use evasive tactics, noting that she was quick to slip out of his angry grip when they initially met. After practising this for a while, she becomes impatient again that she hasn't had the chance to deal any damage. Alonzo is about to lecture her on how wearing out an opponent with dodging could allow her to knock them down with weaker attacks - until the intercom blares, and Macavity calls all henchcats to his den. Alonzo postpones their training.
Macavity's den is like a large meeting room, with a side cupboard that contains his nest. In the meeting room, all the hench cats congregate. Beside him, the tom Teazer defended stands anxiously. The other hench cats he had left with prior also seem to be extremely nervous. Macavity is clearly holding back anger. Macavity begins lecturing the room that failure isn't something that can be brushed off as a simple mistake. It is an active threat upon the future of the clan and must be punished with significant force. Teazer is afraid, and whispers to Alonzo - asking what's going on. Alonzo explains that Macavity will often send cats out on missions for him - spying, reconnaissance, theft, etc. Anything that provides useful resources or information. Whenever a group fail to retrieve anything of worth - or worse, compromise his plans, Macavity becomes enraged, and often kills whoever is at fault. Teazer becomes terrified for the safety of the tom and asks Alonzo if he will be okay. He tells her that the cat is called Jerrie - and he usually takes the blame for anything that goes wrong in any expedition he goes out on. Teazer asks why, and Alonzo explains that Macavity - while seemingly not giving a single shit about the rest of their wellbeing, has allowed Jerrie to get away with allsorts - and hasn't killed him yet. Because of this, everyone pins their mistakes on him - knowing he won't be killed, and knowing it will save their own hides. He notes that the only downside is that public executions and beatings are, well... public, and they're all forced to witness it. He advises Teazer to think of a happy time in her life, close her eyes, and try her best not to listen too much.
Back in the Queen's den. Bomba and Demeter are talking about their childhood. Bomba tells her about life as a street cat, but explains that she hadn't always been alone. After the recession, her humans had abandoned her, and she ended up here - lured in with promises of somewhere safe to sleep. She'd been under Macavity's control ever since, and her scars are from fighting back against him. At this point, Mac has given up on her, but keeps her around as a bodyguard for the harem - acknowledging her strength. Bomba says she'd almost feel flattered if she didn't hate Mac's guts so much. Demeter tells her that she had always been part of the Jellicle tribe, and that her mother had passed away only recently. Macavity had been there for her after her mothers death, which led to them developing romantic feelings for each other. Bomba is surprised - claiming she'd never seen Mac express a genuine emotion in his life. At this point, the queen who had left before returns. Her fur is ruffled and she refuses to look any of the other queens in the eye. Cassandra approaches her at her nest, and holds her paws over her for a moment before shaking her head. Bomba dismisses herself from the conversation with Demeter and brings the queen water and food.
Once all the henchcats have finally filtered out from Macavity's den, Teazer waits at the doorway to try and catch Jerrie in a conversation, but the tom doesn't seem to be leaving. When she spies in through a crack in the door, she sees Macavity tending to the tom's wounds and fixing his fur. Jerrie doesn't recoil from the clan leader. Utterly confused - Teazer is about to enter again, but is distracted by Alonzo's voice calling to her from the hall. She quickly returns to his side and asks why Macavity is bothering with Jerrie at all. Alonzo expresses his own confusion. He tells her that Jerrie had been there the longest out of all of them, and has spent most of his life in the clan. He notes that the tom is good at what he does - exceedingly good. He's an excellent thief, and incredible escape artist, and one of the few cats in the clan who can actually read written English. Rumpleteazer suggests that this must be why Macavity doesn't kill him - but Alonzo rejects this, noting that Macavity has killed off much better spies and thieves than Jerrie for much smaller mistakes. Regardless, they head back to the henchcat den for food and a mental and physical rest.
After taking a short nap, Teazer wakes up to find the den mostly empty. She finds a catscratch note from Alonzo explaining that he'd gone out on an expedition and would be back after curfew. She sighs in frustration that they wouldn't be able to spend the afternoon training, and alerts the attention of Jerrie, who is quietly sifting through the pantry for something to eat. Teazer offers him the rest of her tin of tuna, and he shakes his head. Growing more frustrated, she yells at him that she isn't bad like the others, and that he needs to accept that she wants to be his friend. He expresses to her that he doesn't think she's a bad cat, but that he doesn't want her to be targeted for being an ally of his. She laughs, and assures him that she can take care of herself, explaining that Alonzo is training her. Jerrie laughs that Alonzo always picks the strangest cats to train, and the two of them share the remainder of the tin. Teazer apologises for her brash and rude behaviour when they first met, and Jerrie also apologises for being dismissive of her. Teazer also expresses guilt at abandoning Demeter in the harem and says she wants to visit her to ensure that she is safe. Jerrie agrees to escort her there once they have finished eating, as he is a regular visitor to the queens, and is one of the few toms that Macavity allows inside their den.
Part 5 and onwards of my outline will come at a later date!!

My CrowSquirrel AU Because Why Not
[Long Post]
Crowpaw is a medicine cat apprentice with Barkface as his mentor because why not (Inspired by @/swampyfwoggo’s AU)?
Squirrelpaw and Shrewpaw are the best friends, the unstoppable trouble-making duo. No one can stop them.
Crowpaw doesn’t look forward to the journey at all. He’s terrible at socializing and doesn’t want to leave behind his med cat duties.
Meanwhile, Squirrelpaw absolutely wants to go, and it takes a lot of arguing with Brambleflower (Brambleclaw) until he finally gives up.
Pretty no one gets along with each other during the journey at first (aside from Feathertail and Stormfur sticking next to each other and Brambleflower and Tawnypelt being like “hey it’s been a while”). Crowpaw and Squirrelpaw bicker all the time, that is until they tag team in annoying Brambleflower.
HOWEVER, eventually they all become the bestest of friends.
Feathertail decides to talk to Crowpaw one night after he exploded in an argument, and Crowpaw realizes that this is the first time someone actually showed genuine kindness to him that wasn’t his mother.
Crowpaw sticks with Feathertail a lot and develops a crush on her, but it is one-sided (because Crowpaw is an apprentice).
As with everyone becoming best friends, Squirrelpaw and Crowpaw also become really good friends, being the two apprentices on the journey.
When Feathertail dies, Crowpaw is especially broken, and the remaining cats stay pretty much quiet the trip back.
Shrewpaw gets the name Shrewfoot and is like “Where were you?” But then he dies saving Crowpaw.
Barkface dies before all of the Clans leave to the new territories, and he decides that Crowpaw will become a full medicine cat. Crowpaw names himself Crowfeather after Feathertail, and Squirrelpaw gains the name Squirrelflight.
Stormfur stays in the tribe as normal.
Once the cats arrive, Tallstar dies and makes Onewhisker the new deputy.
Of course, since Onewhisker and Firestar are the only cats to know this, Mudclaw becomes mad and WindClan splits in two. The other cats name them Mudclaw’s Group and Onewhisker’s group as both call themselves WindClan. Mudclaw names Nightcloud as his deputy while Onewhisker names Ashfoot as his.
Crowfeather being the only WindClan medicine cat is confused on which side to be on, but Ashfoot tells Crowfeather to go help Mudclaw’s Group as Ashfoot knows a bit about medicine.
Of course this makes meeting up with his other friends harder, especially since he really wants to meet up with Squirrelflight. But Mudclaw is like “No ThunderClan is allied with Onewhisker they are bad.”
Crowfeather and Nightcloud become good friends during this time.
Mudclaw makes Crowfeather take him to the Moonpool right after Leafpool discovered it, who then meet up with Ashfoot and Onewhisker. After some arguing, Mudclaw attacks Onewhisker and then the big Civil War fight happens.
The tree to the island falls on both Onewhisker and Mudclaw, leaving them both dead. All of WindClan then discusses whether Nightcloud or Ashfoot would be leader, but Nightcloud steps down, leaving Ashfoot to become Ashstar.
A lot of moons pass and Crowfeather and Squirrelfight meet up a lot more, and eventually fall in love with each other. They continue to sneak out at night to meet up with each other.
Leafpool eventually discovers this and is like “Uh... you can’t be in a relationship with a WindClan cat and a medicine cat much less Crowfeather he’s stinky.”
After Leafpool and Squirrelflight argue more, they eventually go back to ThunderClan only to discover badgers. Crowfeather runs off to WindClan to be like “Our bros are in trouble!” and they fight off the badgers.
However! There’s still one in the nursery and Cinderpelt dies like she did in canon. Leafpool gets angry and blames Squirrelflight, and tells her to stop meeting up with Crowfeather.
Leafpool and Squirrelflight barely talk to each other, and Squirrelflight talks to Brambleflower and Ashfur.
Ashfur is like “You gotta stop hanging out with Brambleflower did you know his father is Tigerstar” and Squirrelflight is like “okay?” But then Ashfur keeps talking about how Tigerstar killed his mother and also that Brambleflower is being really suspicious. Squirrelflight ignores him.
Ashfur and Brambleflower get in a lot of fights, with Brambleflower almost killing him one time. Squirrelflight is mad at this.
The whole Bramble and Hawk thing happens you know the story. Squirrelflight then gets more mad at Ashfur because “He’s not a bad cat stop judging him because of his father.”
Firestar is like “Wow Brambleflower you saved me wanna be deputy” and Brambleflower is like “Nah I don’t deserve to be deputy yet.” Squirrelflight is chosen as deputy.
Squirrelflight finds out she’s pregnant and tells Leafpool who is like “wow good job Squirrelflight.” Squirrelflight thinks of either asking Bramble or Ash to pretend to be the father, but then decides on Bramble because she was still kinda mad at Ash.
Brambleflower and Squirrelflight pretend to be mates and she has Hollykit, Lionkit, and Jaykit.
Breezepaw, Nightcloud’s son becomes Crowfeather’s apprentice and the two, while they argue a lot, have a good relationship. Breezepaw looks up to his mentor.
Lionpaw becomes Ashfur’s apprentice. Ashfur tries to get along with his apprentice but Lionpaw is too powerful and doesn’t know his own strength. Lionpaw then almost kills Ashfur, and Shrewfoot becomes afraid of him. Lionpaw feels really bad and hates his power.
During the journey in Outcast, Hollypaw notices that Squirrelflight and Crowfeather talk especially a lot together. She’s like “Huh, must be friends.”
The fire scene happens with Ashfur, who insists that the three are a danger because they are Tigerstar’s kin. He talks about how he gets reminded of Brindleface’s death whenever he saw Bramble, and that all of Tigerstar’s kin is bad. He tries to kill the three but then Squirrelflight is like “They are not his kits.”
Lionblaze kills his former mentor out of rage, but then regrets his decision. He then decides if no one found out, it would at least be worth it.
Hollyleaf tells everyone, and then Lionblaze runs away. Crowfeather is demoted to a warrior as Squirrelflight resigns her deputy position to stand with Crowfeather. Breezeflight (Breezepelt) loses all of his respect for his mentor. Brambleflower becomes deputy.
Hollyleaf later realizes that she has no powers, and that Dovepaw might be the third. However, they’re still confused on Lionblaze.
Breezeflight trains in the Dark Forest and tries to get Jayfeather on his side, as they went through similar things. Jayfeather declines and he gets attacked by Breeze.
Same thing as canon happens basically.
Lionblaze comes back to fufil the prophecy.
After the battle, Crowfeather gets his position back as a medicine cat. He and Breezeflight forgive each other.
Squirrelflight decides to let Brambleflower be leader as she becomes deputy.
Alternate Ending: Squirrelflight becomes Squirrelstar as Brambleflower is her deputy.

Pool
Kit > Loner <> To-Be > Prey-Hunter > Queen > Elder
She-cat - WindClan
Son: Ferretstreak
Pool was a well-known friend of the clans, known for wandering around from place to place, group to group, almost always on her own. She was born to a loner she-cat and a tom from the Tribe of Rushing Water. She was raised as a loner’s kit for five moons before she was taken to the Tribe by her father, where, at eight moons, she become a prey-hunter to-be. It should be noted that her father and the Tribe attempted to give her a tribename, but she rejected it, refusing to let go of the name her mother gave her. Pool trained until she was an official prey-hunter, although, two moons after she became a prey-hunter, she left the Tribe to be a loner once ago. She met her mother briefly again before they separated paths. She had a few run-ins with the clans, skirting along their borders, and, despite her sharp-tongue, she never got into any trouble with them. She became well-known throughout the clans when she helped out a pair of stray ShadowClan kits, Hawkkit and Quailkit, when they had snuck out of camp. She performed a few other deeds too, like informing RiverClan of the rogues that held a grudge against them and were planning on attack, and helping ThunderClan track down a missing member, among other things. She once took refuge in SkyClan when she broke her front leg falling from a tree, and their current medicine cat happily helped her out. She had a fling with a rogue tom that resulted in her getting pregnant. She didn’t really want to take care of kits, so she went to WindClan, where they let her give birth and nurse her kits, or rather, kit, named Ferretkit. She had gotten older by the time Ferretkit reached six moons, and she decided to “retire” as the clancats called it, becoming an elder among their ranks. Her old bones were weary from always being on the move, and she content to rest in her mossy bed on the moor until she took her last breath.
Pool was a rather sharp-tongued, sarcastic cat who kept to herself most of the time and was rough around the edges. She didn’t share much about herself or her life, and she always believed actions spoke louder than words, so why bother explaining when you could just do? She also didn’t really like being tied to one place, especially the controlling air of the Tribe. She hadn’t had the best relations with her parents, always finding her father too pushy and controlling and she hadn’t been able to spend a lot of time with her mother, however kind and loving she was. That translated into her relationship with her son, Ferretstreak. They had never been super close, but they were never rude to one another, and Pool had always been proud of him.
“Lithe pale blue-gray tabby she-cat with amber eyes.”

A Guide to Norse Gods and Goddesses
Aesir
The collective name for the principal race of Norse gods; they who lived in Asgard, and with the All-Father Odin, ruled the lives of mortal men, the other was the Vanir.
The Aesir gods under the leadership of Odin, included:
Balder (god of beauty)
Bragi (god of eloquence)
Forseti (god of mediation)
Freyr (god of fertility, who originally was from the Vanir)
Heimdall (guardian of the bridge)
Hod (the blind god)
Loki (the trickster of the gods)
Njord (the sea god, and another ex-Vanir)
Thor (god of thunder)
Tyr (god of war)
Vili (brother to Odin)
Ve (brother to Odin)
Vidar (Odin’s son)
The goddesses included:
Freya (the fertility goddess)
Frigga (Odin’s wife)
Sif (Thor’s wife)
Idun (keeper of the apples of youth)
Vanir
In Norse mythology, the Vanir are originally a group of wild nature and fertility gods and goddesses, the sworn enemies of the warrior gods of the Aesir. They were the bringers of health, youth, fertility, luck and wealth, and masters of magic. The Vanir live in Vanaheim. The Aesir and the Vanir had been at war for a long time when they decided to make peace. To ensure this peace they traded hostages: the Vanir sent their most renowned gods, the wealthy Njord and his children Freya and Freyr. In exchange the Aesir sent Honir, a big, handsome man who they claimed was suited to rule. He was accompanied by Mimir, the wisest man of the Aesir and in return the Vanir sent their wisest man Kvasir. Honir however, was not as smart as the Aesir claimed he was and it Mimir who gave him advice. The Vanir grew suspicious of the answers Honir gave when Mimir was not around. Eventually they figured out that they had been cheated and they cut Mimir’s head off and sent it back to the Aesir. Fortunately, this betrayal did not lead to another war and all the gods of the Vanir were subsequently integrated with the Aesir. There is not much known about the Vanir of the time before the assimilation.
Valkyries
Valkyries, in Scandinavian mythology, are the warrior maidens who attended Odin, ruler of the gods. The Valkyries rode through the air in brilliant armor, directed battles, distributed death lots among the warriors, and conducted the souls of slain heroes to Valhalla, the great hall of Odin. Their leader was Brunhilde.
Brunhilde
Brunhilde (Brynhildr, Brunhilda, Brunhilde, Brünhild) was a female warrior, one of the Valkyries, and in some versions the daughter of the principal god Odin. She defies Odin and is punished by imprisonment within a ring of fire until a brave hero falls in love and rescues her. Siegfied (Sigurðr, Sigurd) breaks the spell, falls in love with her and gives her the ring, Andvarinaut. Siegfied is tricked and accused of infidelity. Eventually Brunhilde kills herself when she learns that Sigurd had betrayed her with another woman (Gudrun), not knowing he had been bewitched into doing so by Grimhild.
 Gullveig
Gullveig (“gold branch”) is the sorceress and seer who had a great love and lust for gold. She talked of nothing else when she visited the Aesir. They listened with loathing and eventually thought the world would be better off without her so they hurled her into the fire. She was burned to death but stepped from the flames unscathed. Three times she was burned, and three times she was reborn. When the Vanir learned about how the Aesir had treated Gullveig they became incensed with anger. They swore vengeance and began to prepare for war. The Aesir heard about this and moved against the Vanir. This was the first war in the world. For a long time, the battle raged to and fro, with neither side gaining much ground. Eventually the gods became weary of war and began to talk of peace. Both sides swore to live side by side in peace. Gullveig is also known under the name of Heid (“gleaming one”). She is probably the goddess Freya, who also has a great love of gold in the various myths.
The Norse Gods & Goddesses
Aegir
Aegir is the god of the sea in Norse mythology. He was both worshipped and feared by sailors, for they believed that Aegir would occasionally appear on the surface to take ships, men and cargo alike, with him to his hall at the bottom of the ocean. Sacrifices were made to appease him, particularly prisoners before setting sail. His wife is the sea goddess Ran with whom he has nine daughters (the billow maidens), who wore white robes and veils. His two faithful servants are Eldir and Fimafeng. The latter was killed by the treacherous god Loki during a banquet the gods held at Aegir’s undersea hall near the island of Hler (or Hlesey). Aegir was known for the lavish entertainment he gave to the other gods.
Baldr
Balder, son of Odin and Frigga, the god of Love and Light, is sacrificed at Midsummer by the dart of the mistletoe and is reborn at Jul (Yule). Supposedly his return will not occur until after the onslaught of the Ragnarok, which I see as a cleansing and enlightenment more than wanton, purposeless destruction. Balder’s blind brother Hodur was his slayer, whose hand was guided by the crafty Loki. He is married to the goddess of Joy, Nanna. Balder’s dreams are the beginning of the end. He dreams of his own death and shows Loki the truly evil god that he is which shows the ultimate limitations and mortality of the gods. The gods capture and punish Loki, but they cannot rescue Balder from Hel and the beautiful, passive god who embodies the qualities of mercy and love is lost to them. This is the beginning of the end, the first step towards Ragnarok begins.
There is nothing but good to be told of him. He is the best of them, and everyone sings his praises. He is so fair of face and bright that a splendor radiates from him, and there is a flower so white that it is likened to Balder’s brow; it is the whitest of all flowers. From that you can tell how beautiful his body is, and how bright his hair. He is the wisest of gods, and the sweetest-spoken, and the most merciful, but it is a characteristic of his that once he has pronounced a judgement it can never be altered. – Snorri Sturluson
Bragi
The god of eloquence and poetry, and the patron of skalds (poets) in Norse mythology. He is regarded as a son of Odin and Frigga. Runes were carved on his tongue and he inspired poetry in humans by letting them drink from the mead of poetry. Bragi is married to Idun, the goddess of eternal youth. Oaths were sworn over the Bragarfull (“Cup of Bragi”), and drinks were taken from it in honor of a dead king. Before a king ascended the throne, he drank from such a cup.
Note: Originally, Bragi did not belong the pantheon of gods. He was a poet from the 9th century, Bragi Boddason. Poets from later centuries made him a god.
Forseti
Forseti in Norse mythology, Forseti is the god of justice. He is the son of the god Balder and his mother is Nanna. He rules in the beautiful palace Glitnir with its pillars of red gold and its roof with inlaid silver, which serves as a court of justice and where all legal disputes are settled. See Myth 12 The Lay of Grimnir. Although Forseti is one of the twelve leading gods, he is not featured significantly in any of the surviving myths. He can be compared with the Teutonic god Forseti, who was worshipped on Helgoland a small Island in the North Sea.
Freya
Freya was one of the most sensual and passionate goddesses in Norse mythology. She was associated with much of the same qualities as Frigg: love, fertility and beauty. She was the sister of Freyr. Freyja (modern forms of the name include Freya, Freja, Freyia, Frøya, and Freia) is the goddess of Love and Beauty but is also a warrior goddess and one of great wisdom and magick. She and her twin brother Freyr are of a different “race” of gods known as the Vanir. Many of the tribes venerated her higher than the Aesir, calling her “the Frowe” or “The Lady.” She is known as Queen of the Valkyries, choosers of those slain in battle to bear them to Valhalla (the Norse heaven). She, therefore, is a psychopomp like Odhinn and it is said that she gets the “first pick” of the battle slain. She wears the sacred necklace Brisingamen, which she paid for by spending the night with the dwarves who wrought it from the bowels of the earth. The cat is her sacred symbol. There seems to be some confusion between herself and Frigga, Odin’s wife, as they share similar functions; but Frigga seems to be strictly of the Aesir, while Freyja is of the Vanir race. The day Friday (Frejyasdaeg) was named for her (some claim it was for Frigga).
Freyr
Freyr was the god of fertility and one of the most respected gods for the Vanir clan. Freyr was a symbol of prosperity and pleasant weather conditions. He was frequently portrayed with a large phallus. Freyr is Freyja’s twin brother. He is the horned God of fertility and has some similarities to the Celtic Cernunnos or Herne, although he is NOT the same being. He is known as King of the Alfs (elves). Both the Swedish and the English are said to be descendants of his. The Boar is his sacred symbol, which is both associated with war and with fertility. His golden boar, “Gullenbursti”, is supposed to represent the daybreak. He is also considered to be the God of Success, and is wedded to Gerda, the Jotun, for whom he had to yield up his mighty sword. At Ragnarok, he is said to fight with the horn of an elk (much more suited to his nature rather than a sword.)
Frigg
Odin’s wife, Frigg, was a paragon of beauty, love, fertility and fate. She was the mighty queen of Asgard, a venerable Norse goddess, who was gifted with the power of divination, and yet, was surrounded by an air of secrecy. She was the only goddess allowed to sit next to her husband. Frigg was a very protective mother, so she took an oath from the elements, beasts, weapons and poisons, that they would not injure her brilliant and loving son, Baldr. Her trust was betrayed by Loki, a most deceitful god. She spins the sacred Distaff of life, and is said to know the future, although she will not speak of it. Some believe that Friday was named for her instead of Freya, and there is considerable confusion as to “who does what” among the two. The Norns (Urd, Verdande, and Skuld), are the Norse equivalent of the Greek Fates. It is they who determine the oorlogs (destinies) of the Gods and of Man, and who maintain the World Tree, Yggdrasil.
 Gefion
Gefion (“giver”) is an old-Scandinavian vegetation and fertility goddess, especially connected with the plough. She was considered the patron of virgins and the bringer of good luck and prosperity. Every girl who dies a virgin will become Her servant. She is married to King Skjold or Scyld a son of Odin, and lived in Leire, Denmark, where she had a sanctuary. The Swedish kings are supposed to be her descendants. It is traditionally claimed that Gefion created the island of Zealand (“Sjaelland” in Danish) by ploughing the soil out of the central Swedish region with the help of her sons (four Swedish oxen), creating the great Swedish lakes in the process. In Copenhagen, Denmark, there is a large fountain showing Her in the process of ploughing. Gefion could be another form of Frigga who is also known under that name.
Heimdall
Heimdall, known as the ‘shiniest’ of all gods due to him having the ‘whitest skin’, was a son of Odin who sat atop the Bifrost (the rainbow bridge that connects Asgard, the world of the Æsir tribe of gods, with Midgard, the world of humanity) and remained forever on alert; guarding Asgard against attack.
In the Lay of Thrym, it is Heimdall’s idea to Dress up Thor as a woman, in order to trick Thrym, the king of the frost giants, into thinking it was Freyja. The ploy works and Thor recovers his stolen hammer Mjollnir. Heimdall was associated with the sea and was the son of nine maidens (9 waves??). In Myth 5 – The Song of Rig he calls himself Rig and travels across the land visiting several households, speaking honeyed words, winning over the woman of the household and creating the three races of men. His acute senses make him an ideal watchman for the gods. His hall is Himinbjorg (Cliffs of Heaven) which stands near the rainbow Bifrost. He owns the horn Gjall which can be heard throughout the nine worlds.
He needs less sleep than a bird and can see a hundred leagues in front of him as well by night as by day. He can hear the grass growing on the earth and the wool on sheep, and everything that makes more noise – Snorri Sturluson
Hel
Hel was the goddess of the dead and the afterlife was Hel (Holle, Hulda), and was portrayed by the Vikings as being half-dead, half alive herself. The Vikings viewed her with considerable trepidation. The Dutch, Gallic, and German barbarians viewed her with some beneficence, more of a gentler form of death and transformation. She is seen by them as Mother Holle; a being of pure Nature, being helpful in times of need, but vengeful upon those who cross her or transgress natural law.
Höðr
(Old Norse: Hǫðr [ˈhɔðr] (listen); often anglicized as Hod, Hoder, or Hodur) is a blind god and a son of Odin and Frigg in Norse mythology. Tricked and guided by Loki, he shot the mistletoe arrow which was to slay the otherwise invulnerable Baldr.
Idun
Idun ("She Who Renews") is the Norse Goddess of youth Who grows the magic apples of immortality that keep the Gods young. Her husband Bragi is God of poetry. Loki, the God of mischief and fire, was once responsible for arranging Her abduction by the giant Thajazi. Without Her apples, the Gods soon began to age, and threatened Loki until He agreed to rescue Her, which He accomplished by borrowing Frejya's falcon robe and fleeing with Idun who He had changed to a nut. Alternate spellings: Idunn, Iduna, Idhunna
Kvasir
Kvasir is referred to as the “wisest of the gods” in The Binding of Loki. It is he who comes up with the plan to fish Loki out of the water using the net he fashioned from Loki’s own design. It is not entirely clear whether Kvasir is a god. In the Mead of Poetry, he is “created” from the spittle of the gods.
Loki
Loki was a mischievous god who could shape-shift and can take up animalistic forms. He conceived a scheme to cause the death of Baldr. Upon learning that mistletoe was the only thing that could hurt Baldr, he placed a branch into the hands of the blind god, Hodr, and tricked him into throwing it at Baldr, killing him. Loki, the Trickster, challenges the structure and order of the Gods which is necessary in bringing about needed change. In the Prose Edda Snorri Sturluson writes that Loki: is handsome and fair of face but has an evil disposition and is very changeable of mood. He excelled all men in the art of cunning, and he always cheats. He was continually involving the Aesir in great difficulties and he often helped them out again by guile. Neither an Aesir or a Vanir, he is the son of two giants and yet the foster-brother of Odin. Loki embodies the ambiguous and darkening relationship between the gods and the giants. He is dynamic and unpredictable and because of that he is both the catalyst in many of the myths and the most fascinating character in the entire mythology. Without the exciting, unstable, flawed figure Loki, there would be no change in the fixed order of things, no quickening pulse, and no Ragnarok. He is responsible for a wager with a giant which puts Freyja into peril (Myth 3) but by changing both shape and sex (characteristics he has in common with Odin) he bails her out. In Myth 10 he shears Sif’s hair which is more mischievous than evil, but he makes amends in the end. In Myth 8 his deceit leads to the loss of the golden apples of youth… but he retrieves them again. He helps the Gods and gets them out of predicaments, but spawns the worst monsters ever seen on the face of the Earth: Fenrir, Jormungand, the Midgard Wyrm. His other children include the goddess Hel (Hella, Holle), and Sleipnir, Odin’s 8-legged horse. It is now generally accepted that he is not a late invention of the Norse poets, but an ancient figure descended from a common Indo-European prototype and as such, Loki’s origins are particularly complex. He has been compared to several European and other mythological figures, most notably the Trickster of Native American mythology. As the myths play out, the playful Loki gives way to a cruel predator, hostile to the gods. He not only guides the mistletoe dart that kills Balder but stands in his way on his return from Hel (the citadel of Niflheim). His accusations against the gods at Aegir’s feast (Myth 30) are vicious. He is an agent of destruction causing earthquakes. And when he breaks loose at Ragnarok, Loki reveals his true colors; he is no less evil than his three appalling children, the serpent Jormungand, the wolf Fenrir and the half-dead, half-alive Hel (Myth 7), and he leads the giants and monsters into battle against the gods and heroes.
Mani
Máni (Old Norse "moon"[1]) is the personification of the moon in Norse mythology. Máni, personified, is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. Both sources state that he is the brother of the personified sun, Sól, and the son of Mundilfari, while the Prose Edda adds that he is followed by the children Hjúki and Bil through the heavens. As a proper noun, Máni appears throughout Old Norse literature. Scholars have proposed theories about Máni's potential connection to the Northern European notion of the Man in the Moon, and a potentially otherwise unattested story regarding Máni through skaldic kennings.
Njord
Njord is the God of the wind and fertility as well as the sea and merchants at sea and therefore was invoked before setting out to sea on hunting and fishing expeditions. He is also known to have the ability to calm the waters as well as fire. Njord, one of the Vanir gods, was first married to his sister Nerthus and had two children with her, Frey and Freyja. His second wife was Skadi (Skade), a Giantess. When Skadi’s father was killed by the Aesir she was granted three “acts” of reparation one of which was to let her choose a husband from among the gods. She could pick her new husband, but the choice had to be made by looking only at the feet. She picked Njord by mistake, assuming his feet belonged to Balder. Njord and Skadi could not agree on where to live. She didn’t like his home Noatun at the Sea, and he didn’t like hers Trymheim, in the mountain with large woods and wolves, so they lived the first half of the year in Noatun and the other half in Trymheim. Njord is said to be a future survivor of Ragnarök in stanza 39 of the poetic Edda:
“In Vanaheim the wise Powers made him and gave him as hostage to the gods; at the doom of men he will come back home among the wise Vanir.”
Odin
The supreme deity of Norse mythology and the greatest among the Norse gods was Odin, the Allfather of the Æsir. He was the awe-inspiring ruler of Asgard, and most revered immortal, who was on an unrelenting quest for knowledge with his two ravens, two wolves and the Valkyries. He is the god of war and, being delightfully paradoxical, the god of poetry and magic. He is famous for sacrificing one of his eyes in order to be able to see the cosmos more clearly and his thirst for wisdom saw him hang from the World Tree, Yggdrasil, for nine days and nine nights until he was blessed with the knowledge of the runic alphabet. His unyielding nature granted him the opportunity to unlock numerous mysteries of the universe. Odin or, depending upon the dialect Woden or Wotan, was the Father of all the Gods and men. Odin is pictured either wearing a winged helm or a floppy hat, and a blue-grey cloak. He can travel to any realm within the 9 Nordic worlds. His two ravens, Huginn and Munin (Thought and Memory) fly over the world daily and return to tell him everything that has happened in Midgard. He is a God of magick, wisdom, wit, and learning. In later times, he was associated with war and bloodshed from the Viking perspective, although in earlier times, no such association was present. If anything, the wars fought by Odin exist strictly upon the Mental plane of awareness; appropriate for that of such a mentally polarized God. He is both the shaper of Wyrd and the bender of Oorlog; again, a task only possible through the power of Mental thought and impress. It is he who sacrifices an eye at the well of Mimir to gain inner wisdom, and later hangs himself upon the World Tree Yggdrasil to gain the knowledge and power of the Runes. All his actions are related to knowledge, wisdom, and the dissemination of ideas and concepts to help Mankind. Odin can make the dead speak in order to question the wisest amongst them. His hall in Asgard is Valaskjalf (“shelf of the slain”) where his throne Hlidskjalf is located. From this throne he observes all that happens in the nine worlds. He also resides in Valhalla, where the slain warriors are taken. Odin’s attributes are the spear Gungnir, which never misses its target, the ring Draupnir, from which every ninth night eight new rings appear, and his eight-footed steed Sleipnir. He is accompanied by the wolves Freki and Geri, to whom he gives his food for he himself consumes nothing but wine. Odin has only one eye, which blazes like the sun. His other eye he traded for a drink from the Well of Wisdom and gained immense knowledge. On the day of the final battle, Odin will be killed by the wolf Fenrir. Just as a point of curiosity: in no other pantheon is the head Deity also the God of Thought and Logic.  It’s interesting to note that the Norse people set such a great importance upon logic. The day Wednesday (Wodensdaeg) is named for him.
Sif
Sif is the Norse Goddess of the grain Who is a prophetess, and the beautiful golden-haired wife of Thor. Thor is the thunder God and frequent companion of Loki, as He makes the perfect patsy, being not too bright. Sif is of the elder race of Gods or Aesir. She is a swan-maiden, like the Valkyries, and can take that form. By Her first marriage to the Giant Orvandil, Sif had a son named Ullr ("the Magnificent"), Who is a God of winter and skiing. By Her second husband Thor, She had a daughter, Thrudr ("Might"), a Goddess of storm and clouds and one of the Valkyries, and two sons, Magni ("Might") and Modi ("Anger" or "The Brave"), who are destined to survive Ragnarok and inherit Mjollnir from Thor (though some say the Giantess Jarnsaxa "Iron Sword" is their mother). Sif is famous for Her very long, very golden hair. One night, Loki, who just couldn't resist a little chaos and mischief, snuck into Her chamber and chopped it all off. A sobbing and horrified Sif went straight to Her husband, Who in His rage started breaking Loki's bones, one by one, until finally He swore to make the situation right. So, Loki went to the dwarves and persuaded them to make not only a new head of magic hair for Sif from pure gold, but also a magical ship and a spear. But Loki could not resist pushing His luck, and made a wager with two other dwarves, Brokk and Sindi, daring them to make better treasures. Loki was so sure of the outcome that He had let His own head be the prize. Underestimating the dwarves' skills (or the depth of their hatred for Him), He suddenly realized with a shock that Brokk and Sindi were winning! In desperation He changed Himself into a horsefly, biting and pestering the dwarves while they worked. Despite this they managed to produce several treasures, the most famous of which was Mjollnir, Thor's Hammer. The Gods were then called to arbitrate and declared Brokk and Sindi the winners. Loki promptly disappeared. When He was tracked down, He was again given to the dwarf brothers, but this time Loki agreed, yes, they had a right to His head, but the wager had said nothing about His neck. Frustrated with this "logic," the dwarves had to content themselves with sewing His lips shut. The new head of golden hair was given to Sif, where it magically grew from Her head just as if it were natural. Her golden hair is said to represent the wheat of summer that is shorn at harvest-time.
Skadi
Skadi is the Goddess of Winter and of the Hunt. She is married to Njord, the gloomy Sea God, noted for his beautiful bare feet (which is how Skadi came to choose him for her mate.) Supposedly the bare foot is an ancient Norse symbol of fertility. The marriage wasn’t too happy, though, because she really wanted Balder for her husband. She is the goddess of Justice, Vengeance, and Righteous Anger, and is the deity who delivers the sentence upon Loki to be bound underground with a serpent dripping poison upon his face in payment for his crimes. Skadi’s character is represented in two of Hans Christian Anderson’s tales: “The Snow Queen” and “The Ice Princess.”
Sol/ Sunna
Sól is the Norse Goddess of the Sun, also known as Sunna, though some hold that Sól is the mother and Sunna Her daughter. In Norse mythology, the Sun is female while the Moon is male. When the world was created from the body of the dead giant Ymir by the triad of Odin, Vili, and Ve, the Sun, Moon and Stars were made from the gathered sparks that shot forth from Muspellsheim, the Land of Fire. Sol ("Mistress Sun"), drives the chariot of the Sun across the sky every day. Pulled by the horses Allsvinn ("Very Fast") and Arvak ("Early Rising"), the Sun-chariot is pursued by the wolf Skoll. It is said that sometimes he comes so close that he can take a bite out of the Sun, causing an eclipse. Sol's father is Mundilfari, and She is the sister of Måni, the Moon-god, and the wife of Glaur or Glen ("Shine"). As Sunna, she is a healer. At Ragnarok, the foretold "Twilight of the Gods" or end of the world, it is believed the Sun will finally be swallowed by Skoll. When the world is destroyed, a new world shall be born, a world of peace and love, and the Sun's bright daughter shall outshine Her mother.
Thor
Thor was Odin’s most widely known son. He was the protector of humanity and the powerful god of thunder who wielded a hammer named Mjöllnir. Among the Norse gods, he was known for his bravery, strength, healing powers and righteousness. Tyr is the ancient god of War and the Lawgiver of the gods. The bravest of the gods, it is Tyr who makes the binding of Fenrir possible by sacrificing his right hand. Thor, also known as the Thunderer, was a son of Fjorgyn (Jord) and Odin by some, but among many tribes Thor supplanted Odin as the favorite god. He is the protector of all Midgard, and he wields the mighty hammer Mjollnir. Thor is strength personified. His battle chariot is drawn by two goats, and his hammer Mjollnir causes the lightning that flashes across the sky. Of all the deities, Thor is the most “barbarian” of the lot; rugged, powerful, and lives by his own rules, although he is faithful to the rest of the Aesir. The day Thursday (Thorsdaeg) is sacred to him.
Tyr
Tyr also seems to be a god of justice. His name is derived from Tiw or Tiwaz an Tacticus and other Roman writers have equated this character to Mars, the receiver of human sacrifice. His day is Tuesday. Tyr was the son of Odin though he is made out to be the son of the giant Ymir. Like Odin, he has many characteristics of the earlier Germanic gods of battle. Parallels in other mythologies along with archaeological discoveries relating to a one-handed god, suggest that this character is very old and was known in Northern Europe somewhere between one and two thousand years before Snorri Sturluson included it in his Prose Edda. Similarities can be found in the one-handed Naudu in Irish mythology and in Mitra, just god of the day, of Indian mythology.
Ve
Ve is one of ancient Scandinavian gods and, together with Odin and Vili, the son of the primordial pair of giants Bor and Bestla. The three brothers created heaven and earth from the slain body of the primeval being Ymir and built the twelve realms. They also created Ask and Embla, the first pair of humans.
Vili
In Scandinavian myth, one of the primordial gods, brother of Odin and Ve. The three of them were responsible for the creation of the cosmos, as well as the first humans.
Vidar
Vidar was another son of the supreme god and Grid (a giantess), and his powers were matched only by that of Thor.
Vali
He was born a fully-grown man. Little is known about Vali, except that he is a son of Odin and his giant mistress Rind. When Balder was killed unintentionally by his twin brother Hod, Vali was born to avenge his death.
“In the west Rind will give birth to Vali. Merely one night old he will avenge the son of Odin.
He will not wash his hands, nor will he comb his hair until Balder’s murderer burns at the stake.”

Reaper High - Next Gen: Children of Nomads and Royals
((After getting 2 Commissions of Ajax, and seeing lots of love being given to Jazz, I decided to just up and make a post about the many Next Generation characters that i’ve created over the years.
Ajax - Shayde and Vega’s youngest daughter. She is the only one of the children who was born with Natural Guardian powers, or at the very least, something akin to them. (Perhaps it was her golden chip? No one knows...not even Shayde’s Ghost.) At some point in her life, she acquired Roulette’s old sword; Worldline Zero. With it’s power, combined with her ability to create rifts in space inherited from Vexus, Ajax discovered that she was able to travel through time using the sword. She’s quite the troublemaker when she wants to be, but more often than not her heart is in the right place. When she makes a mistake, it weighs heavy on her, and goes to the greatest lengths to fix what she has broken.
Avior - Shayde and Vega’s only son and Prince of Cluster Prime, Avior dedicated himself at a young age to defending those who could not defend themselves, and giving people something to look up to when things are looking grim. He studied and trained under some of the greatest heroes he could think of: Saint-14, All-Might, Super-Man and Captain America to name a few...Although, despite his knightly philosophy and manners, he styles himself after Lord Saladin and The Iron Lords. Being about 8 feet fall, he sometimes intimidates the other students at Reaper High. That, and the fact that he has Vexus’ eyes, and teeth.
Weiss - The Elder Daughter of the Royals, and seemingly the most low key, all Weiss wants to do is learn the history of her two heritages. When she was young, Weiss was as happy-go-lucky as her mother. Growing up, she began to learn about Vexus’ crimes, and the banishment of her grandfather. Combined a less than positive school experience, this caused Weiss to become far more jaded. Like Roulette, Weiss has little time for bullies, blowhards but is far more likely to shut them up if they don’t have the smarts to do so themselves. She appears to be the most tame of her family, but deep inside, power greater than her sibling, parents and grandparents combine BURNS...
Morrigin - Daughter of Stake and Number 86, Morrigin is as tough as both her parents and then some. Growing up among Ex-Teens Next Door agents and Clones, Morrigin had no shortage of exposure to extended family, her cousins included. Training from both her mother and father have honed her into a disciplined fighter, and a capable leader, if not a little arrogant. Of course, with her parent’s combined strengths, she also shares their weaknesses, such as 86′s temper, and Stake’s crippling lack of fashion sense and dance talent.
Thomas - Against everyone’s expectations, Volker and Brit remained together after the Apocalypse, even more unexpected was the birth of their son, Thomas. His parents raised him to be a cat-burglar from an early age, though Volker did remind him that not everything should be stolen...just the stuff that people who already have a lot don’t use. At some point before attending Reaper High, Thomas acquired the means to train as a Titan Pilot, but didn’t get his hands on one until getting to the school...Stealthy, Agile, and well versed in assassin combat styles and gadgets, Thomas can easily slip away from any trouble he might find himself in.
Kaze -  If Brit sticking around to raise her child was a surprise, than Misty raising her child with Dreamer was nothing short of a miracle. After they had amassed a small fortune from their Bounty and Treasure Hunting days, the two found a place to call home, and so the inquisitive Kaze was born. Of the Clones’ Children, she is the most in-tune with her heritage, having powers from her mother, as well as Combat skills passed down to her from both parents. She can speak fluent Mandolorian, and forged her own sword in the vein of Misty’s. Even more curious, is that Kaze appears to be able to use The Force, even though neither of her parents were able to...because of this, Kaze is exposed to dangers that others may not be.
Coyote - Nobody knows where Coyote truly came from. He appears to be a Yautja-Human hybrid, with some elements of what seems to be Crescentian DNA...He is apart of a new tribe of Yautja founded by Marsh after the end of the Apocalypse, protecting the vulnerable Cresentian populace from natural predators and hunters in exchange for bonding with members of the clan as partners on the hunt. Though Coyote has no Partner, he more than makes up for it with his cunning and prowess as a tracker, Capable of wrestling with beasts 3 times his size, and just as able to take them out. He doesn’t speak very often, which is why no one can seem to get a straight answer about his origins out of him...
Samuel - It took Frida a long time to convince Russell to have a child, but the wait was well worth it. Russell made certain to be there during every step of Samuel’s life. As a result, the boy was spared from the parental issues that plauged his father. With his father’s training, and his mother’s inventive ingenuity, Samuel became a prodigy in combat and vigilante justice. Despite his mostly positive upbringing, he never found much reason to speak. As such, he tends to express himself through gestures and actions. He lacks his father’s temper, but has his dexterity and skill with weaponry. Samuel is more in tune with her mother, sharing her mechanical prowess...and her sense of humor.
Helena - Though some miracle of science and biology, Shard and Melody were able to have a child, a perfected techno-organic being known as Helena. Imbued with the powers of both her mother and father, Helena is a powerhouse of speed and power. The only issue being, she is incredibly shy. She has the ability to stop time, materialize armor for herself from thin air, transform into a mechanical beast like her parents, and move just as fast as Shard, if not faster. She’s fiercely loyal to those who she claims only “Tolerate” her as a friend, and doesn’t give herself as much credit as she deserves. The only time she’s been known to come out of her shell completely is when one of her friends are in danger, revealing that sometimes she can be just as cocky as her father. (...And that embarasses her to no end!)
Ragran & Selmaxen - At some point in RH History, Heater began a complex Relationship with a version of Hekapoo from another timeline or dimension. Which one? Nobody knows...what everyone does know is that after the apocalypse, Heater ran off with her for years, and came back with a pair of Twins: Two girls named Ragran and Selmaxen. Ragran shares her father’s vow of silence, while Selmaxen tends to chat up a storm. Both of the twins have the ability to use their mothers scissors, or duplicates from the looks of them, and have power to manipulate, control, and create fire, lava and obsidian thanks to their fathers supernatural exploits in Hell during the apocalypse. They aren’t dependent on one another, but when they team up to do much of anything, their synergy is unmatched.
((This is just too much fun to come up with and write about! Seeing RH Next Gen stuff makes my heart soar, and it saddens me that I fall into ruts so often that I’m starting to lose steam on this sort of thing. But i’ll keep trying to keep my motivation up, and so long as im motivated, i’ll keep writing stuff for RH!))

Across Time || Chapter 8
Fandom: Servamp Ships: KuroMahi (main), LawLicht (side) Characters: Kuro, Mahiru, Hyde, Licht, Tsurugi, Junichiro, Yumikage
Summary: Mahiru falls into a well and is taken to a new, fantasy world. He comes across a half-blooded cat demon trapped in a tree. After he frees Kuro, he helps him collect the shards of the sacred jewel. (KuroMahi, InuYasha AU)
Ch.1 || Ch.2 || Ch.3 || Ch.4 || Ch.5 || Ch.6 || Ch.7 || (Ch.8) ||
Mahiru was taken into a cave hidden in the mountain. He lost track of where Kuro was and he hoped he was still nearby. He was dropped to the ground and Mahiru quickly untangled himself from his sleeping bag. Several men and wolves surrounded him and he reached behind him for an arrow. He realized that he didn’t have any of his arrows or knife with him.
“So, you’re the person who took our cub. I didn’t think Touma would send a human after us this time. Even if you’re human, we won’t forgive those who hurt our pack. We’ll also take your jewel shard.” A man stepped forward and he seemed to be the leader. Mahiru stiffened when the wolves crept closer to him. He crawled backwards but the wolves circled him so he couldn’t escape.
“No, Yumi!” Takuto raced to stop him from hurting him and pushed his way past the wolves. He hugged Mahiru and looked up at the leader with pleading eyes. Mahiru was glad that he paused long enough for them to explain the situation. “Two bad demons attacked me but Mahiru saved me. He was going to take me back to you in the morning.”
Mahiru held his breath and waited for their response. The group was quiet for a while and he hoped they believed him. He was surprised when they suddenly bowed their heads to him. One of the wolf demons stood and said, “Thank you for saving Takuto! We’re sorry for the misunderstanding.”
“You don’t need to bow your heads like that. Anyone would help a child in need. Takuto was very brave when we faced the demons.” The pet wolves stopped growling and began to lick his hand. Mahiru petted them and he relaxed slightly. The misunderstanding was over and he hoped they could come to a peaceful solution with the jewel shards.
Mahiru thought of Kuro and he stood quickly. “What happened to the man who was with me? Kuro helped Takuto as well so please don’t hurt him. He’s a good man. He must be worried that we were taken in the middle of the night. Someone should go back and bring him here so we can all talk. While we wait for him, may I talk to your leader and Takuto’s parents.”
“My name is Junichiro.” A man with glasses stepped forward to introduce him to the wold tribe. “Yumikage is our leader and I’m Takuto’s—”
“Dad!” Takuto ran past Jun to hug Yumikage. Mahiru recalled how the boy also called the man who took them ‘dad’. The man had dark hair though. They seemed close with Yumikage as if they were family. He lifted Takuto up and placed him on a wolf’s back. Proudly, Takuto told him, “I beat up the demons, Dad!”
“It’s nice that you have two dads. One is even the leader of your tribe so you’re like a little prince. No wonder you were so strong when we fought the demons.” Mahiru ruffled his hair. The wolf clan already accepted him because he saved Takuto. Then, they saw how kind he was to him. “Junichiro, can you find Kuro and tell him I’m safe?”
“I should stay for the meeting since you said you wanted to talk to speak with Takuto’s parents. I’m his father.” He told him. Mahiru was confused and stared at the three men. Jun smiled wearily and explained, “I’m his biological father but Takuto loves these two so much that he calls them his dad as well. I don’t know how I should feel about that.”
“I think it’s sweet. Your tribe is like a large family. Since I’m an only child, I’ve always wanted to have a big family growing up. Takuto’s lucky to have all of you.” Despite how they met, Mahiru thought the wolf demons were good people. He hoped they could work together to reform the jewel. He would prefer to have Kuro with him while he spoke with the family but he followed the three deeper into the cave.
They sat around a firepit and a man with dark hair said, “Sorry about the confusion. My name is Tsurugi and I’m the strongest fighter in the tribe! Without me, these two would be in trouble all the time. You must be strong if you were able to defeat the demon Touma sent after Takuto. He has been giving us trouble for a while.”
“I’m still training to become stronger. I’ve only survived this long because I had Kuro by my side.” Mahiru wasn’t certain if he should tell them that he was from the future. They would likely think he was crazy if he did. He took a moment to think before he said, “I’m searching for the jewel shards. I can sense that Tsurugi has two in his legs, Yumikage has two in his hairpin and Jun has two in his wrist.”
The three gawked at him and he said, “My name is Mahiru Shirota. My family has been protecting the shards for centuries and I can sense the jewel’s power. I want to reform the jewel so it can’t be used for evil. Takuto told me about Touma and how he is chasing your tribe. You need the shards to protect your home so I won’t ask you to hand over the ones you have already.”
“Both you and Touma are collecting the shards. You should avoid fighting him.” Yumikage warned. “He is approaching demons to help him. If you refused to help him, like our tribe did, he will torment you. Touma chased us out of our home in the mountain and we can’t go back. He gives the demons who do join him a shard so his minions are strong as well.”
“He must have a lot of the shards already if he can give them away to other demons.” Mahiru bit his lip. He and Kuro only managed to collect seven shards so far. The more shards a person had, the stronger they were. He didn’t know if they would be able to defeat Touma since he had so many.
There was a commotion at the opening of the cave and they all jumped to their feet. It could be Touma so Tsurugi motioned for Mahiru to stay while the three faced the intruder. At first, he thought he should wait since he didn’t have his weapons. Then, he heard a familiar voice among the fighting and he recognized that it was Kuro. He jumped to his feet and raced out to see him again.
“Kuro!” He waved to him when he saw him in the entrance. He didn’t reply to him immediately and fought against the wolves. Kuro broke away from them and ran to his side. He grabbed his hand and started to pull him away. Mahiru realized that Kuro still believed that he had been kidnapped by the demons and rushed to explain the situation. “I’m fine, Kuro.”
“We have to get out of here.” He tried to pull him away again.
“Slow down and listen to me, Kuro! These people took me by accident but they’re Takuto’s family.” He was too focused on defeating the wolves to listen to him. Mahiru didn’t understand why he was more determined to fight than usual. He huffed and yelled: “Sit, boy!”
Kuro was forced to stop fighting and he fell to the ground. He groaned slightly but then he felt Mahiru’s hand on his hair. He tenderly stroked his hair before he lifted his head onto his lap. Mahiru leaned over him and lightly lectured him. “I’m sorry but you wouldn’t listen to me. I didn’t want you to fight with Takuto’s family. Will you listen to me now?”
“Can’t deal.” He said yet he relaxed under his hand.
“Wow, you were able to take down a demon with one world. That’s amazing.” Tsurugi said. He noticed how Mahiru was stroking his light hair.
“This is Kuro. I told you about him earlier and how we’re on a journey to gather the jewel shards. He’s like my partner on this adventure. Kuro, this is Takuto’s family. While you thought they kidnapped me, they thought we took Takuto. That’s why they attacked us. Now that this whole misunderstand is over, we can talk more.” Mahiru lightly patted his shoulder.
Kuro sat up and glanced around the cave at the wolf demons. They had stopped fighting and Mahiru appeared calm around them so he believed that they were Takuto’s family. He was frantic with worry when he was kidnapped and he tracked his scent to the cave. Mahiru told him that he wanted to work with the tribe and it seemed like he already spoke with them.
“I’m sorry for using ‘sit’ on you again.” He unintentionally used the enchantment again. Kuro wasn’t hurt because he fell back onto his lap. Mahiru stood and helped Kuro to his feet. He formally introduced him to Tsurugi, Yumikage and Junichiro. “I talked to the tribe about collecting the shards. I think we can trust them so we’ll ask them to hand over their shards last.”
“You told us about your journey but we haven’t agreed to it.” Yumikage said. The three wolves glanced to each other and they nodded. Mahiru didn’t understand the sly grin they exchanged. He thought they were only using the jewel for protection. He reasoned that they would relinquish the shards to them once Touma wasn’t a threat to them anymore.
Tsurugi placed his hand on Mahiru’s shoulder and pointed to Kuro. “We’ll give the jewels to Mahiru but we can’t entrust our precious brother to a half demon. He’s going to stay with us where we can protect him. There’s twenty of us so we can protect him better than you. We’ll be the one who help him collect the jewel shards.”
“It’s okay, Tsurugi. Kuro’s strong and I know he’ll protect me no matter who we faced. We already fought several demons together.” Mahiru insisted and hugged Kuro’s arm. He wanted the three to see how much he trusted Kuro. He didn’t realize how close they were or that Kuro started to blush. The three wolves did notice and they started to grin among themselves. “When did I become your brother?”
“The moment you saved Takuto and he spoke up for you.” Jun said picked up his son.
“Then you should also consider Kuro a part of the tribe. He help Takuto too. Thank you for your concern and considering me a part of your family but you don’t need to worry about me. I have Kuro.” He pointed out but Tsurugi waved those words away.
“Troublesome.” Mahiru was slightly surprised when Kuro stepped forward. Kuro said, “We have to return to our journey before it becomes dark. What will make you believe I can protect Mahiru?”
“I’m glad you asked.” Tsurugi said with a grin.
“Are you certain you want to accept their challenge, Kuro? It’s three against one and harpies are dangerous. Thinking simply, we can talk to the tribe until they agree to let me go with you. They can’t force me to stay.” Mahiru said to Kuro next to him. He tightened his hand around the strap of his quiver when he looked at the top of the mountain. Bird demons swarmed the summit.
To prove his strength, Kuro would compete with the three to see who could defeat the most harpies. Mahiru believed in him but the odds were against Kuro. His eyes drifted to the sword at his side. He remembered Tsubaki telling him it could defeat a thousand demons at once. He didn’t know if he would use it since it held a lot of difficult memories for him.
“I can’t believe those are harpies. The books and myths of my time portray them as more human. Their talons look like they can tear a person apart.” Mahiru couldn’t help but worry for Kuro. The demon had the body of a large, round bird. Instead of a beak, the bird had large fangs. At first glance, it appeared that a human was riding it but the person was a part of its body.
“I hope we can get this over with quickly. While their three strongest are busy fighting those harpies, I’ll circle back down and take you away. I want to find a safe place to stay before the new moon tomorrow night.” He whispered into his ear. It was the second time he mentioned the new moon and he wondered why it was important to Kuro.
“Hey, we’re wolf demons so we can hear you easily!” Yumikage yelled before Mahiru could ask him. His eyes trailed up the tall mountain to the harpies circling the summit. They were far away and he could barely see the winged demons. It would be difficult to fight them since they could fly. “Here are the rules: We take a feather from each harpy we defeat. Whoever collects the most will win.”
“Don’t I get a say in this?” Mahiru muttered to himself. He had attempted to reason with the trio several times but they insisted he was now a part of their family. He didn’t want to see anyone hurt and he thought the contest was pointless. “Thinking simply, it’ll be best to collect the shards with Kuro. Traveling in a big group like this tribe will be difficult.”
“We’ll begin on the count of three!” Tsurugi yelled and the four lined up at the foot of the mountain. “Mahiru, you stay here and protect Takuto.”
“I’m going to borrow a phrase from Kuro and say ‘troublesome’. If you’re going to insist on this silly contest, I can’t stop you. Kuro, give me your hand.” Mahiru ordered. While he was slightly confused, Kuro didn’t hesitate before he held his hand out to him. He drew a shape over his palm. “This is a good luck charm of victory. I’m sorry I can’t give you more.”
“It’s enough that you believe in me. I want to get this competition over with so we can go back to collecting shards.” He had a subtle, confident smile that suddenly gave Mahiru butterflies. When they first met, Kuro was reluctant to join him on his journey. Now he was fighting to help him. Mahiru didn’t know if it was because he wanted to become human or something more. He hoped that it was the latter and Kuro considered him a friend.
Kuro stood beside the three men. He whispered so Mahiru wouldn’t overhear them. “I’ll play your game but it doesn’t matter how it turns out. Mahiru can make his own decisions. He’s as stubborn as he is strong. Don’t talk down to Mahiru like he’s a kid.”
“He’s our little brother so we have to be protective of him. We’ll start on the count of three! One, two—” Tsurugi started to scale the wall before he finished counting. Yumikage and Jun were quick to follow him as well.
“So, troublesome.” Kuro groaned and climbed up the mountain with them. Tsurugi was quickest with two shards in his legs but he managed to keep up with him. He leapt from the ledge and landed onto a nearby harpy. The large bird tried to shake him off but he held tight onto its feather.
Mahiru tracked the battle as much as he could but it was difficult. He heard a loud screech and he turned sharply towards the clouds. It wasn’t the sound that caught his attention but a jewel fragment. He could sense a shard rapidly approach them and he scanned the sky for its gleam. He spotted a large harpy break through the clouds and fly towards the nest.
The harpy was far more powerful than the others and Mahiru needed to warn them. He placed Takuto on the ground and started to climb up the mountain. It was difficult because he didn’t have claws like Kuro. He didn’t give up and raced up the rocky ground. He called Kuro’s name and waved his arms to get their attention. “You have to stop!”
Mahiru managed to reach the nest. The wind was stronger near the top of the mountain and he clung to the rocks. His voice was drowned out by the wind but Kuro saw him. He jumped to his side and placed his hand on his shoulder to help him stay balanced. “What are you doing here, Mahiru? It’s dangerous up here. Can you get down on your own?”
“A giant harpy flying towards us right now. It has a shard so you need me to know where to aim. The harpy is too far away for me to see where the shard is right now though.” There was a strong gust of wind and he had to hug Kuro’s arm to keep himself from being blown off. He wasn’t scared after he wrapped his arm around him.
“Which one is it? I’ll take it down for you. You can take the jewel after we ground the thing.” There were thirty harpies flying around them. He pointed to a harpy with steel wings and he nodded. Kuro didn’t want to let go of Mahiru because he was worried that he could accidentally fall. “It’s too far for me to jump close enough to hit it so we’ll have to wait.”
“I’ll try to shoot down a few of the closer harpies so you can focus on the one with the shard.” Mahiru took an arrow from his quiver and adjusted his stance. The ledge they stood on was narrow so he couldn’t draw his bow back much. He stood closer to the edge and trusted Kuro not to let him fall.
“Mahiru?” Tsurugi landed on a ledge above them. “Shouldn’t you be on the ground with Takuto? The competition hasn’t ended yet. But look, I’m winning with five feathers!”
“Forget about the competition, Tsurugi! There’s a jewel shard coming and we need to get it. Harpies are already difficult to take down so imagine how strong one with a shard will be.” Mahiru yelled. “Don’t tell me to go back down. I’m the only one who can sense it so you need me here to help! If you truly consider me part of your tribe, you’ll let me fight with you.”
Tsurugi was quiet for a moment but then he stretched his hand out to him. “If you put it that way, we can’t argue. Come up here. This vantage point is better and you can shoot down the demons easier. Yumi, Jun, there’s a change of plans and Mahiru’s in charge of the competition now. So, Mahiru, what are the new rules?”
“Whoever gets the harpy’s jewel shard wins. First, we have to get rid of the other harpies so they won’t interfere.” Mahiru took his hand and climb onto the ledge with his help. The ledge was easier to stand on and the wind was less powerful. While Yumikage and Jun were still fighting, Mahiru saw them nod slightly. He moved into position and raised his bow at the demons.
His eyes narrowed as he centered his aim. Even though he was able to hit his target, his arrows weren’t powerful enough to kill them. He needed to use a few arrows to take them down. Mahiru could see Kuro leap onto a harpy’s back and kill it with his claws. He jumped off and landed next to him. “Is the demon close enough for you to see the shard?”
“Yes, but we have another problem. It’s in the demon’s mouth. How are we going to get it?” Mahiru knew it would be difficult to pin it to the ground. They were at the summit of the mountain and the fall could kill them if they took one misstep. He noticed that the harpy stopped and glared at them. The demon was still too far for them to reach and he wondered what it planned.
The bird opened its large mouth and electricity sparked between its fangs. Mahiru could sense its power and he stiffened. They were too far away to stop the attack and they were stranded on the mountain. His mind started to race to find a way to protect Kuro.
The arrow in his hand started to glow. He recognized the light because it had protected him several times now. It would usually appear as a shield but now it coated his arrow. Mahiru turned back to the harpy and lifted his bow again. He aimed the arrow at the harpy and released it. The light of his arrow pierced through the demon’s lighting until it struck the demon.
The demon fell out of the sky yet Mahiru could only stare forward in shock. He was surprised by his own power. Mahiru didn’t know how he summoned the light and he slowly lowered his bow. He stared at his hands until Kuro cupped them in his own hands. He drew the same charm he gave him earlier. “Let’s go down to the bottom and get the shard.”
“Okay.” Mahiru climbed onto his back and Kuro took him to the ground.
Tsurugi, Yumikage and Jun were already waiting at the bottom for them. They stood around the demon’s body and Tsurugi had the jewel in his hand. Mahiru frowned and said, “It looks like you win.”
“It was your arrow that took down the demon.” Tsurugi handed the jewel to Mahiru with a proud smile. “You’re the winner so you can decide who you want to travel with. We already have an idea of who you’ll choose. We approve but we’ll check up on you often to make sure Kuro is treating you right.”
“You don’t have to worry about that.” Mahiru took Kuro’s hand.
