i think antidote posted about it a while back but iirc the Jade Warlord is indeed "evil Jade Emperor" who gets killed by a white guy whose last name is "Tripitakas" cuz the plot of the movie is "white kid obsessed with classic kungfu movies is bullied for liking chinese stuff so he gets sent to fantasy china where he's the Main Character and saves everyone and gets a hot dragonlady chinese girlfriend" 😬😬 very early 2000s "im not racist i love egg rolls" yellow fever type stuff.. free on yt btw

...you know, there's plenty of JTTW retellings out there that do Sun Wukong dirty, but it feels like that's even more true when it comes to the Jade Emperor (X_X). Also many thanks to anon for letting us know Forbidden Kingdom is free on youtube in case anyone wants to witness this piece of JTTW trainwreck retellings history for themselves lol.

It’s been over 10 years, and the 2008 action/adventure movie Forbidden Kingdom still upsets me. This was the film to star Asian movie superstars, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. The fight sequences were choreographed by fighting master Woo Ping himself!!

And yet, the main character, the hero we’re supposed to follow, is a white boy from Boston who reeeeeeeally likes Kung Fu movies. I just...why couldn’t it be about a Chinese-American kid who, having forced to Americanize in order to fit in, rediscovers his roots through an adventure through ancient China? Why couldn’t Hollywood utilize the draw power of older Asian stars to build up a new, younger Asian-American actor who could carry on the torch of great entertainers like Jackie and Jet. We were so starved for Asian representation back then, and we still are now.

My 2nd elevated experience show with Ins*mniac. Forbidden Kingdom was also local to me which is always a privilege to be able to work close with a small team of hard working folks. This event really put me to work and I’m always appreciative of my bosses who are willing to show me the ropes. I also had a good time watching everyone in their medieval dragon themed rave outfits, a fun show for the books! I also had to show off how nice my skin looked that day and my forever altering appearance.

I remember a character from Forbidden Kingdom called Jade Warlord but yet there’s little info about him.

AUGH gonna be honest anon while I've never watched it myself I've heard Things about Forbidden Kingdom, none of them particularly good. But reading over the plot synopsis it seems like maybe Jade Warlord was a character made to be like the Jade Emperor except evil? Again I haven't seen the film myself so I'm just guessing out loud...
