On June 21, 2021, at 4:26 PM, Deputy Bostick was dispatched to 316 MLK Street in Baconton in response to a report of a vehicle's window being shot. Upon arrival, Deputy Bostick contacted Mrs. Huntley, who reported hearing a loud bang while inside her house and subsequently discovering the back glass of her vehicle, parked by the road, shattered.

Deputy Bostick and Investigator Brooks arrived at the scene and observed several people outside. They found no bullet fragments near or inside the vehicle but noticed two males on a front porch across from the incident, one of whom was identified as Mr. Johntaven Simmons. Mr. Simmons reported hearing a gunshot but did not know its direction.

Investigator Brooks located the impact point on the vehicle and collected evidence, including a silver, rust-colored dust in the dent. Surveillance cameras on the side of the house captured footage of the incident, showing a tan or brown vehicle pulling up nearby and a black male in all black exiting the vehicle, walking towards the road, and then returning to the car with a gun in hand after the glass breakage.

Upon reviewing the video, Deputy Bostick and Investigator Brooks noticed that Mr. Simmons' clothing matched that of the individual in the footage. Mr. Simmons became frustrated during questioning and refused to answer further questions. A bullet casing was found near the scene, matching the gun seen in the video.

The video was sent to Investigator Brooks for further analysis, which helped in identifying the shooter. Mr. Simmons was arrested at 321 MLK Street after his clothing was matched to that in the video. He surrendered a 9MM gun that matched the casing found. Mr. Simmons was charged with Reckless Conduct, Obstruction Of Officers, and Discharge of a Gun or Pistol Near a Public Highway or Street, and was transported to Mitchell County Jail by Deputy Wilson.

Analysis of Fiber Colors and Dyes

➿ The vast majority of fibers used in commercial applications are colored.

➿ Fiber color is one of the most important properties in the comparison of fibers.

〽️ There are a variety of methods for characterizing the color of the dyes in the fibers. They fall into three major categories:

1.) Visual:The visual method is the simple observation and comparison of the fiber colors by use of the unaided eye. Visual comparison is easy, fast, accurate and non- destructive. It is a crucial first step in any fiber comparison, as many otherwise similar fibers can be excluded from consideration by color.

2.) Chemical:Chemical methods, which include thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography, address the make-up of the dyes used to color the fiber. (This latter statement is an important distinction: analyzing the color of a fiber is not the same as analyzing the dyes used to color that fiber.)

3.)Instrumental- Instrumental analyses include microspectrophotometry in the UV and/or visible ranges and, more rarely, spectrophotometric measurement of fluorescence.

Forensic Evidence

The forensic evidence convinced prosecutors Ms. Hartin to have practiced the unloading and loading of Superintendent Jemmott's police pistol. Police said preliminary investigations revealed the couple were drinking alone on a pier in the town of San Pedro, where the 42-year-old officer was found dead on May 28. Days earlier, Superintendent Jemmott had reportedly suggested that Ms. Hartin take a gun after a man had been aggressive towards her at a party. She reportedly first gave her her gun to practice unloading and reloading bullets as she took her home after the accident. Ms. Hartin from Canada reportedly did not speak to the media about the incident. But the Mail on Sunday reports that she told police: “We are sitting on the dock and I am starting to load and unload your gun. “The last time I did that she took the bullets while I was unloading and put them to her left. Then I put the pistol with the magazine stuck to my right. At one point, the 32-year-old is said to move behind Superintendent Jemmott to massage his shoulder, at which point he suggests they go back to town and give him the clip so he can reload his gun. Reportedly, Ms. Hartin added: “I took the pistol and tried to eject the magazine from the magazine, but it was stuck. “I was having trouble taking out the magazine when the gun suddenly exploded. I didn't know there was still a sphere in the room. Superintendent Jemmott was found in the water with a single bullet in his head Ms. Hartin, Andrew Ashcroft's partner, was found nearby with what appears to be blood on her arms and clothes, Belize Police Commissioner Chester Williams said at a news conference.
