#forever destroying steves legacy
musette22 · 2 years
Note
I'm so glad I left the MCU after Endgame because I don't have to see Marvel make Steve look dirty, and destroy his legacy and who he was. "I can do this all day" has meaning behind it, a story that belongs to Steve. this sentence is not for any other character.
Same here, I agree with all of this. For me, Steve's story ended when he was reunited with Bucky in Wakanda, character intact, and I will love that Steve forever 💙

A Minor Character Study Of Baron Helmut Zemo (?)
TW for Mentions of Attempted Suicide
Zemo knew from the get go that he was walking out of that prison on borrowed time. Whether he was killed by Barnes and Wilson, or Wakanda, or by his own hands, he would not be returning. But Zemo would prefer he got to spend his time out there doing as he pleased.
Doing what needed to be done.
When he heard about the return of super soldiers he suddenly felt glad that he hadn’t eaten that bullet years ago.
His job wasn’t over. The wound of his family, his country, had not stopped bleeding just yet. And it would not stop dripping until he had stitched every super soldier out of existence.
The original Avengers he had fought had already crumbled without the Captain, the Widow or Iron Man. The Witch and the Vision were long gone from Zemo’s knowledge. The God of Thunder had returned to space for the foreseeable future. And the Archer and the Machine hadn’t been seen fighting since the dust cleared.
It was almost an entirely new age of heroes since his father, wife and son were murdered by the Avengers carelessness. Zemo had very little reason left to destroy the new heroes. He could only hope the new age did better than their predecessors.
So his new goal was wiping out Steve Roger’s super soldier legacy. The final nail in the coffin to end all the pain that collected with every breath without his family.
But he’d make the mission an enjoyable one. Barnes and Wilson made for entertaining, and pliable, company. Barnes more than Wilson. Barnes had had decades to get used to people in his head, pulling out the vulnerable parts and digging their claws into them. So getting Barnes to give into his strategic plans with just a few words and a head tilt was a —harsh and cold steel blue—breeze. And where Barnes went, Wilson eventually followed with level headed words and concern for the soldier.
Zemo didn’t want them to really trust him; he wasn’t looking for that. In fact, being unpredictable by tinging on cruel some days and sincere on others kept them at a safe distance from him; but kept him barely inches away from their weak spot.
He preferred when they were snarky but compliant. Thinking they had the upper hand. That their leverage over him would hold.
So he played with their emotions.
“Didn’t take much for him to fall back into it.”
“You’re TT would be proud.”
“In return, I give you him. Along with the pass codes to control him.”
“Only an American would assume a fashion forward black man was a pimp.”
“All super soldiers are supremacists.”
The two stayed on their toes around him, but seemed to relax enough to let out little tidbits of information they wouldn’t usually say.
Like the discussion with Karli.
And Zemo does take a sick satisfaction at shooting her — and yet she is a child, and her brown eyes are wide and frightened and he misses his dear Carl’s brown eyes with a fierce ache—, and his eyes are drawn to the brilliant blue of the vials that twist something dark in his soul. And he stomps them out like he wants to stomp the life out of Barnes when he sees him fight with all that extra power, when he squares his jaw in stubborn defiance. A defect and a liability. An unstitched wound.
He was too much like Rogers yet not enough to truly crackle the flames of his rage.
And when he wakes with an aching head, he almost feels a semblance of gratitude to Wilson when he says no with no hesitation. This man who was supposed to take on Steve Rogers legacy, yet he planned to do so without the rotten tar in his veins. Zemo hated the Avengers. He always would with a burning passion. But he almost likes Sam. Almost likes Bucky when he’s not being so much like Rogers.
It’s just how it goes when Zemo slips out of the room filled with the Dora Miljae. He’s not finished his mission yet. He needs to find a way to wipe out those super soldiers that remain, even if it costs him everything. And maybe after, if he survives it all, he’ll return for Barnes. Put a bullet in the head of the last soldier. Put a bullet in his own big mouth to finish it all.
To right all the wrongs done to his family, his home. To put to bed all the blood on his own hands.
“I lost everyone. And so will you. An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again. But one which crumbles from within? That's dead. Forever.”

I read some bucky x natasha fics:
Head Is Not My Home by taralkariel
Summary: The Black Widow is a legend. Legends aren't made cheap.
Shaken by the events of Civil War, Natasha Romanoff goes back to familiar ground to hide. To hide and remember how she became the Black Widow. How Natalia Romanova would do anything to save her father-figure. How she was one of 28 ballerinas with the Bolshoi - no, one of 28 Black Widow agents with the Red Room. How the only thing that made her feel human was a man with a metal arm.
(A story to show what really happened in the comics Red Room and how it could fit into the MCU)
19k words in 12 chapters, not rated (maybe T&up?), bucky nat up to IW, i think.  it’s not very dark themed <3,

He doesn't even blink. "We both are."

After all, what happiness could possibly be derived from the knowledge that the perfect little girl in his arms is now motherless? What relief could be drawn, when his boyfriend of ten years, the love of his life really, is probably, currently, right at this moment in the arms of ‘Peggy’ his new fiancé?

He probably shouldn’t be so eager to do that.

Fuck John Walker (and also some other stuff): A Response To Episode Four
WARNING: some bad language, death mentions, violence mentions, blood mentions, racism, spoilers for for ep 4 of tfatws
DISCLAMER: I have some Opinions about various characters. These do not extend to the actors, who I’m sure are lovely and should be treated with the dignity, privacy and respect that they deserve.
“Fuck John Walker” was originally meant to be the subtitle. I decided on it when he screwed up the op for Sam. It got ungraded during the final scene, because nothing else could possibly compare as a necessary title to this post.
Essentially, some (out of order) thoughts on episode 4:
~*Sam and Bucky, working together*~ (pretend this is a musical jingle)
The contrasting ways that they interacted with the displaced
While the incredibly valid argument can be made that Sam is the least privileged of the group (I’ve made it) it is obvious that he has had the most structured civilian life: approaching the people he comes across openly. Yes, he is polite and calm, but the closest thing to this he has personally come across in the past (that we know of) would be the war vets he worked with and the critical difference is that they wanted to be there. From what I remember of Sam’s groups they didn’t seem to be a sort of mandatory requirement: you came because you chose to. Or at least, you came prepared for the situation. Here, Sam is an outsider and an unwelcome threat. These people are not going to open up to him.
Bucky is quieter, but still quite straight forward in the way he presents himself. I think he may show a little more care for the environment he is in than Sam but that isn’t saying much. Yes, he has experienced much worse things than Sam but we still see his unfamiliarity with this sort of situation paired with some less than stellar social skills really not working in his favor.
Look, I love both these 2 to death. But this is not what they know.
Zemo on the other hand quite likely lived in a place similar to this after his family was murdered. He shows an understanding of how this sort of situation would work, going to children who:
a) wont necessarily peg him as an outsider
b) are bribable
also I think he was genuinely super glad to give those kids that candy and money. He would have been such a good dad. now I have Zemo feels. somebody help me.
The inclusion of the Dora Milaje was incredibly awesome, and not just because I simp for powerful women. Narratively, this was the perfect place for them to join the party and assert their right to apprehend Zemo.
Bucky speaking Xhosa (i think it was?) is very cool
I would like to take this moment to formally state that Caption John Walker is a motherfucking asshole.
It was also really nice to see Sam’s therapist skills, that worked against him earlier really help him here.
I liked seeing that more human side of Karli, and having her interact with the “enemy” and have serious conversation about what everyone is doing.
Until Captain Insecurity has to destroy the op because he doesn’t trust the people he chose to work with, no one has comms or anything I guess?
Also Walker deferring to Bucky for team decisions over Sam, talking over Sam and acting like he knows better than Sam?
I smell racism in this Chili’s tonight
It was also really interesting to get a more in-depth look at how Zemo views supersoldiers. Nearly all the ones that he has either heard of or interacted with (destroyed) had either volunteered for the serum or were so brainwashed that it didn’t make a difference. These people are a dangerous enemy to be eliminated, alongside people like Dr. Nagel. His entire worldview is focused on their destruction that the idea that one of them could be a normal person is impossible to him. The only exceptions acknowledged are Steve (paragon of saintly virtue) and Bucky.
And the fact that after his family died and his country devastated he would most likely have fixated on both the Avengers and the “concept” of a superhuman being as something to blame for his loss. His refusal to concede his position to Sam isn’t just arrogance, although that seems to be a part of it, but the fact that he has spent so much time and energy in destroying both the Winter Soldier program and most likely other similar operations, along with the Avengers that this hatred and belief in the danger has most likely become one of his core beliefs. To change this would be to question his vendetta against the Avengers, to question his actions against the Winter Soldier program which he knows was a horrible thing, and to question why he has spent the past seven years in maximum security prison. This isn’t something he is ready to do yet.
The fact that Bucky is a noted exception is something that stands out to me. Zemo knows that Bucky is a good person, regardless of the serum.
Bucky is also the only main character (that I can think of) that was injected with the serum against his will. The fact that he didn’t seek it out could quite likely be part of the reason that Zemo doesn’t look down on him for it - it is framed that the sort of person that seeks out that sort of strength/power would be a “supremacist”, someone who would use their abilities to harm and subjugate others.
And while we are at the apartment may I say how funny it is to see Zemo just. Literally being Sam and Bucky’s sugar daddy. He transports them and houses them and makes them fancy tea. It’s possible he’s providing them with clothes. Either way, love it. Cannot wait for the boys to work it out.
Sam and Lemar’s responses to being offered the serum are an interesting juxtaposition to how they view the concept of supersoldiers. They have both experienced hardship and survived war but Sam is the one that has gone up against Gods and monsters and he wants none of that, thank you.
And Lemar is so comfortable with saying yes because it isn’t actually being offered to him. Walker expresses some hesitation in their discussion because for him, it isn’t hypothetical. This is something real that can and will effect him for the rest of his life and he wants to make the “right decision”.
The return of Erskine’s belief that the serum not only effect the physical but the mental, emotional and (possibly?) spiritual. This isn’t something that’s really been touched on outside of The First Avenger and I liked that it turned up here. But the fact that it was the reason Walker felt comfortable taking the serum? Eww
The Dora Milaje kicking names and taking ass is super awesome. They are so incredibly skilled and have such amazing teamwork and are also super beautiful I love them
Sam and Bucky just. Watching. Enjoying the show. Absolute kings.
Zemo being the sneaky little sneak that he is :)
One one hand, Bucky losing his arm in the fight was very awesome. One the other hand, he has a long history of complicated bodily autonomy in relation to that arm so........  Neutral opinion it is then
Karli, honey, I really want to like you but can you please keep the mans family out of it. Okay?
And another thing that this show made me think about: kids left to fend for themselves after the Blip (uuuurrrggh it hate calling it that. stupid canonical name). I think it’s good that at least some people took it on themselves to take these children in, to give them good lives and families.
The way that Sam has incorporated his wings into his combat style is very cool
Okie dokie can’t avoid it forever lets get this over with.
LEMAR MY BEAUTIFUL SON NOOOO
those fuckers (the writers i mean)
Side note: did they really have to make the first main character death of the series a Black “sidekick” character? No. No they did not.
Side side note: I understand that this is a perfectly valid way (ew) to “advance the plot” but I can and will be annoyed about it
And now we really get into the shit. But...........................
As much as I absolutely unequivocally hate John Walker I actually like the thematic parallels of how they did this. All throughout The First Avenger Steve is adamant on how he doesn’t want to hurt anyone, he just wants to stand up to the bullies. It’s only after Bucky dies that he says he wants to kill all the Nazis and really get into the horror of it all. The fact that John, who has absolutely been on the edge for the entire episode if not longer, only loses it after Lemar dies?
Because Lemar is arguably meant to be that stand-in for Bucky in the eyes of the public, and they are obviously close friends..........
Just -
I feel I may have accidentally been slightly nicer than I planned to Walker in this post. I’m not sure how I feel about that.
But C****** J*** W****** is NOT Captain America. Up until now I’ve been calling him “Fake Cap” in my head and to my family, but he doesn’t even deserve that honor.
And the blood on the Shield. Dear god that was horrible.
And the fact that, as it was pointed out in this very episode, this man fully represents everything that is Captain America, to the world. He isn’t only tarnishing his own legacy, he is also destroying Steve’s. And to some extent, Bucky’s. The whole reason that Bucky Barnes is considered a “Superhero” is because, at least in America he is known as “Cap’s Best Friend”. He was marketed that way for over half a century, and after the whole “Winter Solder” thing, goodwill or no, brainwashing or no, this could end very ugly for him. Not to mention that Steve Rogers is most likely to be forgotten to history in favor of this freak.
And on that note, where the fuck is Steve? This is set only 6 months after Endgame, if he had died we would know. So what the hell is he doing? Because I know he got perpetual brainrot going back in time to be str8 and boring but dear god if the show tries to tell me that he’s just chilling in some senior’s center in Alaska I will actually call bullshit. Steve Rogers would never. Okay this is a whole separate post on my thought on Steve. Watch this space I guess.
And while we’re all here, Bucky Barnes needs a goddamn boyfriend. I’ve done some thinking, and here is a compiled shortlist:
Sam
Zemo
De-aged Steve (he would be higher but I’m still mad at him for the whole “vanishing without a word to relive Jim Crow and the Lavender Scare. :/ )
IN THAT ORDER.
That’s all folks.
Feel free to send me asks if you want clarification or extra details on anything.
And finally -
the thing we all came to see:
FUCK
JOHN
WALKER

Summary: Bailey joins Natasha for the signing of the Accords.
Tumblr media
When I woke up in the morning, my phone was buzzing off the hook. With my eyes still closed, I reached over at answered it.
“Hello?” My sleepy voice said.
“We’re going to be late,” Natasha’s voice rang through the phone.
I quickly sat up. “Oh, shit.”
“Language,” Tony muttered sleepily.
I rushed out of bed and out of Tony’s room, jumping over the furniture on the way to my own room. “I’ll be down in ten.”
“Make it five,” Nat said before she hung up.
I hurried and put on my black pants suit before tying up my hair in a professional looking pony tail. I hopped out of my room, heading for the door, as I was putting on my shoes.
Tumblr media
“I’m heading to the signing with Nat!” I yelled to Tony, who was still in his bed half asleep.
“Have fun!” He yelled back.
“You know it!”
Natasha was waiting in a town car when I arrived outside. I slid into the backseat beside her.
“I’m sorry,” I immediately apologized once the driver began going. “It was a long night.”
“I’m sure it was,” Nat teased, wiggling her eyebrows at me.
“Not like that!” I playfully smacked her.
“I know,” she chuckled. “How was the date?”
“Really good.” I couldn’t help the goofy grin that formed on my face.
“I’m glad. I only wish that you two were comfortable enough to come out to everyone.”
“Me too,” I sighed as I looked out the window. “How comfortable are you with signing this?”
Natasha sighed. “Like I told Steve, staying together is more important than how we stay together.”
“That sounds like the slogan for this whole thing, not your actual opinion.” I eyed her knowingly.
“This is my family. I don’t like the idea of the government tearing it apart. I know you feel the same.” The car came to a stop in front of the UN and the driver came around to open our doors.
“I’ve never been out in public like this without Tony or Pepper,” I nervously whispered as Nat and I were escorted into the building.
“Don’t worry. It’ll just be a bunch of politicians signing a piece of paper. There’s nothing to be worried about.”
But for some reason I really was worried. There was something in the air, something weird, I could sense it. We were escorted to one of the top floors of one of the highest buildings in the complex. Politicians were chatting and assistants were rushing around preparing for the meeting. I followed Natasha around, blending right behind her as an assistant would.
“Excuse me, Miss Romanoff?” A UN staff member came up to us.
“Yes?” She replied.
“These need your signature,” the staff member said, holding the papers and a pen out to her.
I glanced around, surveying the room. I could feel eyes on me. I looking around until I met some curious brown eyes. A young African man was staring at Nat and I, he couldn’t have been much older than I was. I could sense his discomfort with being around so many politicians. He made his way over to were Nat and I were standing, he eyes never leaving mine until he was closer to Natasha.
“I suppose neither of us is used to the spotlight,” he said to Natasha, but some how I felt it aimed towards me.
“Oh, well, it’s not always so flattering,” Natasha responded.
“Who is he?” I mentally asked Nat.
“Prince T’Challa,” she answered, “of Wakanda. A few of his people died in Lagos.”
“You seem to be doing alright so far. Considering your last trip to Capitol Hill… I wouldn’t think you would be particularly comfortable in this company.”
Tumblr media
“Well, I’m not.”
“That alone makes me glad you’re here, Miss Romanoff.” I felt that he genuinely meant what he had just stated.
“Why?” I quickly asked, causing the two to look at me. “You don’t approve of all this?”
“The Accords, yes. The politics, not really. Two people in a room can get more done than a hundred.”
Tumblr media
“Unless you need to move a piano,” an older man joined in.
Tumblr media
“Father,” T’Challa greeted.
“Son. Miss Romanoff,” the man greeted. “And you are?”
“Miss Bailey,” I answered, holding my hand out to shake his. He tenderly took it.
“King T’Chaka,” Nat greeted. “Please, allow me to apologize for what happened in Nigeria.”
“Thank you. Thank you for agreeing to all this. I’m sad to hear that Captain Rogers will not be joining us today.”
“Yes, so am I.”
“If everyone could please be seated,” a man called over the speakers. “This assembly is now in session.”
“That is the future calling,” T’Challa stated. “Such a pleasure.” He nodded to the both of us.
“Thank you,” Natasha said before she linked arms with me and guided us to our seats. “That wasn’t smart,” she whispered when we sat down.
“What wasn’t?” I questioned.
“Telling them your name.”
“They don’t know my last name. For all they could know is that Bailey is it.”
Natasha simply rolled her eyes, looking up at the podium. King T’Chaka was heading up to speak. I surveyed the room once more, my worry from before growing as I continued to feel that something was off.
“When stolen Wakandan vibranium was used to make a terrible weapon,” the King began, “we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and women killed in Nigeria, were part of a goodwill mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative.” Out of the corner of my eye, I could see T’Challa tense up, noticing something outside. “Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace.
“Everybody get down!” T’Challa shouted right before an enormous explosion went off between two of the buildings, destroying the conference halls windows and part of the room.
Natasha grabbed me, forcing us under the table. An overwhelming amount of grief flooded me, forcing tears to prick my eyes. I peaked over the table to see who’s emotion I could possibly feeling. T’Challa was rocking his dead father in his arms.
Tumblr media
Once we were sure that no other bombs were going to explode, a task for entered the room and began escorting everyone out.
“Dad’s never going to let me out of his sight again,” I stated as Nat and I headed down the stairs.
Once we reached outside, medics checked us out. Soon after, Nat and I found a bench to sit on. A buzzing sounded in Nat’s pocket. She took it out to see that it was Tony. She gave me a sad look, before turning to the edge of the bench to answer it. People were running around every which way. Whispers that the bombing was caused by the Winter Soldier were being said. And for some reason, I couldn’t fully believe them. I could feel the grief again, suddenly. I looked to the side to see a stunned T’Challa sitting on the bench next to us. There was a cut on his head. I slowly got up and moved to sit next to him.
“I’m very sorry,” I said to him, sadly.
He glanced me as he played with a silver ring between his fingers. “In my culture, death is not the end. It’s more of a… stepping-off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into the green veldt where… you can run forever.”
Tumblr media
“That sounds very peaceful.”
“My father thought so.” T’Challa slid his ring onto his finger, his grief turning into anger. “I am not my father.”
“T’Challa. Task force will decide who brings in Barnes.”
Tumblr media
T’Challa clenched his fist. “Don’t bother, Miss Bailey.” He stood up, his anger now fully overpowering his grief. “I’ll kill him myself.”
Tumblr media
And with that, he walked away. I stared at him until he disappeared into the crowd. I couldn’t help but wonder how I would feel in his shoes. Would my grief turn into anger? Would I be able to run a country? And why was I feeling that Barnes was not the cause of this? That he was not the answer. Someone had to be setting him up. But who? And why? I was absentmindedly staring in the direction, when Natasha set her hand on my back.
“You’re father’s sending a car to come get you,” she stated as I turned to look at her.
Tumblr media
“Is he not coming to get me himself?” I asked.
“He says he’s going to stay at the hotel and answer phone calls. There’s too many questions he has to answer before he could be of any help here.”
Before either of us said anything, my phone began buzzing. We looked at it then looked at each other. It was Steve. We huddled together, surveying the area before answering the phone and putting it on speaker.
“Steve?” I was relieved that he called.
“You alright?” I could feel his worry. But not through the phone. He was nearby.
Tumblr media
“Yes.” I looked around to find him standing across the street, a cap and dark sunglasses on. “We both are.”
“We got lucky,” Natasha stated, frowning as she stood up. I stood up with her, my eyes never leaving Steve’s figure. “I know how much Barnes means to you. I really do. Stay home. You’ll only make this worse. For all of us. Please.”
“Are you saying you’ll arrest me?”
Tumblr media
“No,” I quickly said in place of Nat.
Tumblr media
“Someone will,” Nat continued. “If you interfere. That’s how it works now.”
“If he’s this far gone, Nat, I should be the one to bring him in.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m the one least likely to die trying,” Steve stated as he hung up.
“Please don’t do this,” I begged Steve.
“I have to, B. He’s my best friend… Did you sign them?”
“We never got to that. And you know I wasn’t there to do that. I can’t pick a side. Please don’t make me.”
“I’m afraid that’s where it’s going to end up, B.”
“Miss Bailey,” an agent pulled me out of my head as he approached. “I have a car ready to take you back to Mr. Stark.”
“Okay, thanks,” I replied.
The agent turned around, guiding me to the car. I looked around one last time for Steve but he was gone. Natasha had disappeared as well, probably in search of Steve. I sighed as I followed the agent to the car. I got in it to find Tony there waiting.
“Nat said that you were staying at the hotel, answering phone calls.”
“Change of plans,” Tony stated, a regretful look in his eyes. “I’m sending you home. You can’t be involved in this more than you already have.”
“Dad, no. I’m more of use here. I don’t need to take sides on the Accords to help with the clean up.”
“No!” He yelled. I flinched. “I almost lost you today…” He looked at me sadly. “I promised to keep your family together and, honey, I’m trying. But I can’t worry about you getting in the crossfires here at the same time. You’re going to take the jet to the compound, where you’ll be safe. Wanda and Vision are there still.”
“So, I’ll be a prisoner then? We’re back to that?”
“I’m trying to keep you safe!”
“I don’t need your protection!”
“You’re going home! End of discussion.”
Then, before I knew what was happening, Tony pulled his hand out of his pocket, revealing a syringe in it. He quickly stabbed it into my neck and released what was in it . My world went black.

A Different Kind of Fic Rec
So ... you know how there’s good fic, and then there’s next tier fic? Like the kind that blow you out of this world? Ones that change you as a person?
Those are rare gems across different fandoms. They’re just a handful really, but they’re so dense you come out a different person once you finish reading them.
Without further ado ... my favourite next tier fics. Across different fandoms.
Kill Your Heroes || Naruto || 272,492 words || Ongoing It's time to stop waiting for other people to save you. A story about fear, resilience, and Sakura.
** If you love Sakura centric fics, drop everything you’re doing and read this
backslide || Naruto || 128,352 words || Complete Naruto’s friends are gone, his lover is dying, Konoha is destroyed, and Madara’s second return has pushed the entire world to the brink. Hunted and harried, Naruto is sent back in time to upend Madara’s plan before it even starts, and sets about changing everything. Butterfly effect nothing: the world is at stake, and Naruto is hardly about to let it fall to ruin once more. Not while he’s still breathing.
ANBU Legacy || Naruto || Ongoing ** Absolute Favourite of All Time Vol. 1 - Complete - 196,000 words Vol. 2 - Complete - 210,000 words Vol. 3 - Complete - 217,000 words Vol. 4 - Complete - 250,000 words Vol. 5 - Ongoing
ANBU Legacy is a collaborative serial novel based on the world of Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto. It follows an alternate timeline, taking place in a Konoha where the Yondaime defeated the Kyuubi — and lived. Set approximately four years after that event, Legacy is focused on the young men and women of ANBU, who took the vow to defend the Hokage and their village at all costs.
** If you love badass ANBU, team bonding, Kakashi Hatake, Gemna Shiranui, angst, All the Good Gay Shit, you NEED to read this.
A Twist In Time || Naruto || 247,537 words || Complete With Konoha on the verge of destruction, Sakura is sent on a last-resort mission to save her world by travelling to the past. Join her in coping with her old body's shortcomings, testing the natural laws of time, falling in love all over again, and rediscovering who she is. Time-travel. SasuSaku.
** Coming from someone who actually hates SS, this fic is. Mind. Blowing. It’s Sakura-centric and features AMAZING character growth. I think I’ve reread this one 5+ times waiting for updates.
The Lives Worth Saving || Naruto || 134,188 words || Abandoned Naruto, at 26, has lived through 10 years of war. At the end, with nothing left to call home, he sends himself back to the beginning, to the day of his younger self's graduation, in an attempt to change it all. Time travel AU.
** That this fic is abandoned is an absolute tragedy, but it doesn’t stop me from rereading it endlessly.
House of Crows || Naruto || 400,508 words || Complete KakaSaku. War is coming to Konoha and Sakura is far from home, uncertain of her future. But one thing is for sure, Sakura will protect her unborn child at all costs, whether it be from Konoha's enemies... or from its own father.
** This fic is so powerful it sent me into actual depression for like 2 weeks lmao
Pulling My Weight || Naruto || 375,630 words || Ongoing During the mission to Wave, Sakura realises that she has to become a better ninja for her teammates' sake and be someone they can depend on. She vows to take her training seriously, and receives help from the most unlikely of sources; Genma Shiranui. The two form an unlikely bond and stick together through thick and thin, while Sakura improves and meets other people along the way.
** So, so entertaining, but above all so satisfying. I must’ve reread this one 4 or 5 times while waiting for updates.
Will of Fire || Naruto || 223,234 words || Complete Forced to flee their village and the new regime, the loyal shinobi of Konoha must find a way to preserve their way of life and take back their home. As they fight for their future, Team Seven struggles to overcome the past. KakaSaku
Once More, With Feeling || Naruto || 127,462 words || Complete Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.
** I read this one a very long time ago but it resonated so deeply (despite being in first person)
Stripped Bare || Naruto || 295,128 words || Complete When Sakura wanted a change of pace, she hadn't expected THIS! Now she's on a mission with Kakashi, masquerading as a dancer at a club far away from home and she finds herself forced to explore her own powers of sexuality and seduction. KakaSaku LEMON
** so IMPACTFUL. This is not a light read by any measure.
Double Edged || Naruto || 347,047 words || Complete  Seduction is like a double edged sword. You never know when you'll go from being the seducer to being the seduced. KakaSaku
The Window || Naruto || 165,171 words || Complete Kakasaku Sakura always wanted to see Kakashi unmasked. This was a bit much though...
to memory now I can’t recall || MCU || 102,600 words || Complete  While on a mission storming a HYDRA facility, James Buchanan Barnes touches one of the many strange alien devices collected by the Red Skull. He does this, in fact, twice— in the past, and in the future.
Next thing he knows, Bucky Barnes is opening his eyes in the 21st century, which is full of great gadgets and coffee, and at least includes his old pal Steve. (And, inexplicably, a different Stark.) Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier finds himself in the middle of World War Two, helping Captain America hunt down HYDRA (which is at least familiar), pretending to be Bucky Barnes (which is not), and figuring out the very noisy group of soldiers who call themselves the Howling Commandos.
** GOOD SHIT, my dudes. I’ve lose count of how many times I’ve read this once. Definitely more than four times.
The Twice-Told Tale || MCU || 15,789 words || Complete For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.
** SUCH an entertaining read. I’ve read this one definitely more than 5+ times.
The Act of Creation Will Be Your Salvation || MCU || 84,678 words || Complete When Tony Stark was seventeen years old, he built his first AI. On that day, he ceased to be his father's creation, and became a creating force in his own right.
That one act likely saved his life, and not always in the most obvious ways.
** This fic will ruin you in the best ways. Worth many, many, many rereads.
The Third Option || MCU || 220,962 words || Complete Homecoming A/U.
Ben and May divorced before Peter’s parents died, so when Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.
So he leaves.
Simple.
Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help. Peter isn’t about to turn down an opportunity to fight alongside Tony Freaking Stark, but he also isn’t going to let his hero know that his recruit is a fifteen-year-old homeless dropout. So they strike a deal. Peter will help Tony. In return, the mask stays on.
And that’s when things get complicated.
** If you love angst, this is the one for you. Also worth many rereads.
Anew. || MCU || 130,298 words || Complete In death, there was no glory, no redemption, no salvation.
Only darkness and ice—or that was what Tony thought. He closed his eyes in a Siberian bunker and opened them again on his 41st birthday, with War Machine flying into the distance.
a study in scarlette || Case Closed || 214,688 words || Complete There are people who want to live forever, and then there is Shinichi, who just wants to live a little longer than this.
** One of like, my top 10 fics of all time across any fandom.
When Pandora’s Box Is Opened || Case Closed || 299,231 words || Complete After two long years as Conan, the time has finally come for the ancient battle to come to an end, and fate will determine whether the Silver Bullet will survive the shot, unless Shinichi can put his faith in the enemy that was destined to be his ally...
... Yeah I did this because I was bored oops

Why the ending of Avengers: Endgame isn’t as sad as I thought
I saw Endgame on Thursday 25th and holy fuck. Holy mother of fuck. I now have a new favourite movie (and a new least favourite movie because fuck you, Marvel). I’m not going to lie; I cried 2 times (one was happy, one was sad) watching the actual film and 6 times since just thinking about it. I think we can all agree that the film, especially the ending, physically hurt to watch, even if it fit perfectly as the ending of the first 10 years of the MCU. Spoilers under the cut.
Avengers: Endgame has a completely bittersweet ending. Tony and Nat are dead, Steve is old, etc. The original Avengers are basically no more. But thinking about it, it’s not all bad. They all got what they wanted in life.
Tony: He got to spend time with his wife and daughter, even if that wasn’t nearly as much time as he wanted. After all, Pepper could have been snapped as well. He also got to patch things up with Cap and his dad.
Steve: He got his dance and a life with Peggy. He also got to see his best friends again and pass on the Captain America mantle, so he was able to die knowing that his legacy would be passed on.
Thor: He got to see his mother again, and more importantly, was able to do what he wanted to do (help people with the Guardians) instead of what he was meant to do (be king of Asgard).
Bruce: He got to live in peace with being the Hulk. This one is basically stated outright in the film, but he’s so much happier now that Bruce and the Hulk are no longer separate entities, because he doesn’t have to live in fear of the rage monster destroying anything important.
Natasha: She got to spend time with the Avengers, who she considers her family, and work/die for the greater good, effectively clearing her name from her KGB days. Again, this one is pretty much said in the film when she and Clint are on Vormir.
Clint: He got his family back. This one is the most obvious, because Clint says multiple times that that’s what he wants and there is a scene showing him seeing his family again.
So yeah, while things could definitely have turned out better for them (Tony and Nat especially), things could have also turned out worse. Imagine if Pepper was snapped, Steve died while returning the stones, Thor was forced into a role he didn’t want and didn’t feel worthy of, Bruce lived forever in fear of the Hulk, Nat died alone and guilty, and Clint never saw his family again. That would suck. Every character completed their character arc and either died or ended the movie at their best point. It’s not all bad for the characters we came to know and love over 10 years. So even though I cried again writing this, I’m happy with the way the Infinity Saga has come to a close.

Per Skreeonk.com:
Tumblr media
The cover is retro, funky, and certainly aimed at pulling in non-fanatics with a strong design. Upon further inspection, the rest of the set is, too, with new cover designs created by well-known artists for each film in the 1954-1975 era we all hold so dear. We’ll get to the art in a moment, however. First, let’s celebrate what Criterion managed to include for this release (in their own words):
EIGHT-BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION COLLECTOR’S SET FEATURES
High-definition digital transfers of all fifteen Godzilla films made between 1954 and 1975, released together for the first time, with uncompressed monaural soundtracks
High-definition digital transfer of Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956), the U.S.-release version of Godzilla
Japanese-release version of King Kong vs. Godzilla from 1962
Audio commentaries from 2011 on Godzilla and Godzilla, King of the Monsters featuring film historian David Kalat
International English-language dub tracks for Invasion of Astro-Monster, Son of Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs. Megalon, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and Terror of Mechagodzilla
Directors Guild of Japan interview with director Ishiro Honda, conducted by director Yoshimitsu Banno in 1990
Programs detailing the creation of Godzilla’s special effects and unused effects sequences from Toho releases including Destroy All Monsters
New interview with filmmaker Alex Cox about his admiration for the Showa-era Godzilla films
New and archival interviews with cast and crew members, including actors Bin Furuya, Tsugutoshi Komada, Haruo Nakajima, and Akira Takarada; composer Akira Ifukube; and effects technicians Yoshio Irie and Eizo Kaimai
Interview with critic Tadao Sato from 2011
Illustrated audio essay from 2011 about the real-life tragedy that inspired Godzilla
New English subtitle translations
Trailers
PLUS: A lavishly illustrated deluxe hardcover book featuring an essay by cinema historian Steve Ryfle, notes on the films by cinema historian Ed Godziszewski, and new illustrations by Arthur Adams, Sophie Campbell, Becky Cloonan, Jorge Coelho, Geof Darrow, Simon Gane, Robert Goodin, Benjamin Marra, Monarobot, Takashi Okazaki, Angela Rizza, Yuko Shimizu, Bill Sienkiewicz, Katsuya Terada, Ronald Wimberly, and Chris Wisnia
In 1954, an enormous beast clawed its way out of the sea, destroying everything in its path—and changing movies forever. The arresting original Godzilla soon gave rise to an entire monster-movie genre (kaiju eiga), but the King of the Monsters continued to reign supreme: in fourteen fiercely entertaining sequels over the next two decades, Godzilla defended its throne against a host of other formidable creatures, transforming from a terrifying symbol of nuclear annihilation into a benevolent (if still belligerent) Earth protector. Collected here for the first time are all fifteen Godzilla films of Japan’s Showa era, in a landmark set showcasing the technical wizardry, fantastical storytelling, and indomitable international appeal that established the most iconic giant monster the cinema has ever seen.
Pretty fantastic, right? While it is a bit disappointing not to have both the Japanese original and U.S. releases accompanying one another (as we’ve become accustomed to), being treated to a release of each film in its intended form is certainly a best-case scenario in 2019. TOHO has grown increasingly – and justifiably – protective of these films, so seeing only a handful of dubs included should come as no surprise.
A wonderful amount of extras are headed our way, too, including limited commentaries, and – much more excitingly – interviews with legacy TOHO cast, crew, and creators.
Nothing, however, excites us as much as this – which guarantees that this set is going to deliver the best experience U.S. audiences have ever had with a home release of these classic films:
High-definition digital transfers of all fifteen Godzilla films made between 1954 and 1975, released together for the first time, with uncompressed monaural soundtracks
Yet all of this seems to be swallowed up whole by Criterion’s decision to treat this more as another one of their boxed sets, rather than a celebration of the Showa series itself. Whether TOHO was unwilling to license posters and art is unclear (and unlikely), but Criterion has absolutely put their focus on pulling a diverse group of artists in to flesh out their loud, exciting presentation. Even in their own breakdown of the set, they’ve chosen to list this grouping of artists last; putting a great amount of focus on this aspect of their release.
This amazing box set arrives October 29th– and if the set retails at it’s intended $180 it’s not only a great chance for fans to own the entire Showa series – but a fairly priced one, too.
We’ve included a full gallery of Criterion’s new covers below. GODZILLA: THE SHOWA-ERA COLLECTION is now available to order via their website – and will be hitting other major retailers, such as Amazon and Target, soon. Until then!

Criterion Continues To Do The Lord’s Work With The Release Of The Complete Godzilla Showa Era Box Set! Per Skreeonk.com: The cover is retro, funky, and certainly aimed at pulling in non-fanatics with a strong design.

I fought the war but the war won
Warning: all the spoilers for Avengers: Endgame.
OF COURSE I have no doubt Natasha would sacrifice herself for the world in a heartbeat.
And between her and Clint, it's obvious her thinking is he can have a future with his ~family~, and she's obviously been insanely isolated these last five years, and filled with regret, and sacrificing herself for her found family [and saving the universe in the process] is worth it for her.
But my problem is I don't acknowledge the existence of Clint's family because that's a dumbass story idea from the worst movie ever GO AWAY LINDA CARDELLINI.
And watching Nat and Clint back together made my heart ache because those two belong together -- romantically if you prefer it so, but mainly together as in partners that work insanely well together in a fictional narrative. They have had this lived-in chemistry from the first Avengers, and I didn't realize how much I had missed it until this movie.
[Fuck Joss Whedon with a cactus forever.]
[Someone make me that Black Widow movie and show me Budapest. I DESERVE IT.]
...
And then the scene with all the dudes in the lake angry-mourning Nat looks REALLY REALLY BAD because the only thing that emotionally rings out of that scene is HOLY SHIT THEY FUCKING KILLED THE ONLY WOMAN OH MY GOD PLEASE END ALL MEN WRITING SUPERHERO STORIES BECAUSE THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW HORRIBLE THE OPTICS ARE WHEN THEY FUCKING KILL THE ONLY ORIGINAL WOMAN AVENGER IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE MOVIE THAT'S SUPPOSED TO CELEBRATE THEIR LEGACY. HOLY FUCK.
...
Holy motherfucking shitballs what they did to Thor was a supreme case of extreme fatphobia. So fucking embarrassing. And they could have done the exact same depression/PTSD shit without a fat suit. Fatness is NOT a character flaw, and for this movie to think it's okay to portray it as such, and for most people in the audience to not even realize how horrible this is... well, that's the fatphobic world we live in everyday wherein thin people don't realize how fucking horrible they are about fatness ALL THE TIME. Ugh.
And hey, I think Hemsworth is a comedic genius at this point, and I'm super glad Hollywood at large has realized he can run circles of funny and comic timing around everybody else [THANKS, GHOSTBUSTERS!], but the fat suit soured it forever in this movie.
...
Look, I know at this point Goop is a hazardous danger to women's health at large, and call me a hypocrite for separating actor and character this particular time when I usually don't, but I love and adore and cherish Pepper Potts with all my heart.
SHE is the reason I'm so connected to the MCU. My hook wasn't any of the superheroes, it was Pepper in the first Iron Man movie. She's the glue that has made me engage with this universe so deeply for the last ten years. All the fanart, all the fic, all the fanworks ever I've created or consumed in the last decade, it has been all about how much I adore Pepper.
And to see her in the Rescue armor in the final battle, I just. I wasn't expecting it. I hadn't even thought it was ever gonna happen, but THIS was the true culmination of the past ten years for me. From now on, I can say it without a doubt every single time someone asks me who's my favorite Avenger. It's Pepper Potts.
[I also kept thinking about my friend S. She would have been so fucking ecstatic about this. It hit me right in the face when Pepper showed up in battle -- I so dearly wish S were here to see this.]
...
Okay, so, disclaimer: I don't have a horse in the Steve Rogers 'shipping infinity wars. I crack 'ship Steve with Maria Hill forever and ever because they would make the prettiest babies on the planet and I don't even like babies. The only part of Ultron that I acknowledge is Maria wearing Steve's jacket at the party. It's the ONLY thing that happened in that movie, NOTHING ELSE DID.
And I don't even blame Steve in any of this mess, to be honest.
The problem here is structural. The narrative went OUT OF THIS WAY to establish HOW time-travel works in this universe. They even got all gloat-y about how every movie ever made was wrong about the ~quantum physics~ of it. They even had bald Tilda Swinton MAKE A POWER POINT PRESENTATION about the rules of time travel.
They set up ONE very specific rule -- changing the past doesn't alter one's own future, it creates a separate timeline of events. O-kay. Pretty simple rule.
...And then Old!Cap who looks scarily like Joe Biden broke that one rule.
Because he did. He went back in time and put all the stones in their proper place in the timeline[1]... and *after that* he went back to the 40s to live happily ever after with Peggy[2], THUS ***CHANGING THE PAST*** and *****CREATING AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE*****.
So there's no. fucking. possible. way. he could have grown old in the original timeline.
And like. They could have fixed that by having Joe Biden Old!Cap legit come back IN THE TIME TRAVEL SUIT IN THE QUANTUM PLATFORM. THAT WOULD HAVE FIXED THIS PROBLEM. But they didn't, so they broke their own story.
And the consequence of this fuck up is... Steve a horrible person. [And even writing that makes me sad because he isn't? He wouldn't ever?] But by breaking their story and their own time-travel rules, it fucks up Steve so badly I wanna cry. So what, he lived a whole life in this same timeline, and did nothing to change anything? Did he marry the future DIRECTOR OF SHIELD and never told her about Hydra? About Bucky? Did he open a newspaper one day and read that Howard and Maria Stark died in a car accident and went, oops? Did he pretend he was sick when his wife told him she was going to the funeral of her lifelong friend?
Do you see how badly it looks? It's bad. The Steve I know and love doesn't deserve this. Please go punch the Russos in the face, Cap.
Notes:
[1] HOW did Steve even put the stones in jewel form back in their proper places in the timeline when they stole the Tesseract in cube form, the mind stone with the scepter, the whatever stone that was they got from Star Lord that was inside an orb... HOW do you even put the soul stone back, like, does Cap go to Vormir and goes, oh hey, RED SKULL MY OLD BUDDY, MY OLE TIME FELLA, here's your soul stone back? Does he get Natasha back for the stone? Isn't it a soul for a soul? Does it work in reverse too?
[2] Hey, so if Steve lived happily ever after with Peggy in this timeline did he erase her future kids? This is Barry Allen levels of fuckupdness, Steve. Gah. And also -- I would pay actual monies to watch time-traveler Steve explain to Peggy that after he went to her funeral he kissed her niece. This is why I 'ship Steve with Maria Hill, man. No complications. Only pretty.
Also: STEVE ROGERS ERASED THE ENTIRETY OF THE AGENT CARTER TV SHOW. That's pretty unforgivable, man. They even had TV show Jarvis right there in this movie driving Tony's dad around in the 70s to make THIS BETRAYAL hurt more.
...
Four hours after I watched the movie I remembered Tony died and started ugly crying again. I'm glad he had those five years of a good life, I'm so glad he had a kid -- that kid, so obviously HIS kid it hurt, I'm so glad Pepper and Rhodey and Peter were there with him in his last moments. I'm glad he got the proper hero death. It still hurts like a son of a bitch.
...
Professor Hulk is a forever delight and he and I need to become besties so we can talk about quantum physics and eat hulkish amounts of breakfast foods every day.
...
I find Thanos to be a complete bore, so every time he sat and started monologuing I stopped paying attention because I DESERVE TO NOT have to listen to giant purple incels pretending they ~know best~ about anything.
But I did appreciate that there was a difference in tone. This was 2014 Thanos, before he went full on cray cray with the monologuing, so he spoke less [bless], and he went full nihilist I AM GOING TO DESTROY THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE instead of only half of it ~for balance~ or whatever. Because Infinity Wars tried to make it like Thanos wanting to kill 50% of the universe had some sort of ~logic~ behind it, and that was way too close to ~both sides~ shit, and, no, son. Him wanting to destroy EVERYTHING put him in the right proper category of batshit crazy bananapants deranged, and that's where he should have been ALL ALONG, no ~he has a point~ arguments ever valid, he doesn't, he never did, shut the fuck up.
...
I actually really really enjoyed the pacing of this movie. Granted, I'm not stupid and I took a muscle relaxant beforehand so that I could sit still for one hundred and eighty two fucking minutes, but I honestly didn't feel it drag at all at any time [and I felt all the other Avengers movies drag at some point or another].
I appreciated it so much that the set up for the final battle took waaaaay longer than the final battle. [I know people go ga-ga for battle scenes, but eh. I prefer my superheroes as pretty people who talk really fast, and battles make them stop talking.]
My favorite sequence was the revisiting of the previous movies. I loved every single piece of it, and I know in my heart that I'm gonna rewatch those sequences over and over and over again for the rest of forever. THE CAP 2 ELEVATOR SCENE REENACTMENT BUT NOT REALLY OH MY GOD THAT WAS GLORIOUS.
Also Loki stealing the Tesseract [again!] was aces. Sure it was to set up extra time-travel shenanigans, but still. Loki and the Tesseract belong together. Please let this be the premise of the Disney+ series.
...
Even though battle sequences aren't really my thing, I would like to express my DEEP ABIDING LOVE for the part when all the women got together to help Peter move the Big Glove of Kitsch towards the van. My packed theater clapped so hard. I cried.
...
HOW DOES PETER PARKER GO BACK TO SCHOOL FIVE YEARS LATER AND HIS BUDDY IS STILL THERE DID HIS BUDDY FLUNK HIGH SCHOOL FIVE YEARS IN A ROW? WHAT?
...
Also Cap and the Hammer, the actual true love story of this movie. Thor's little "I knew it". I knew it too, buddy.
...
I'm gonna need Marvel to release the behind the scenes footage of the filming of Tony's funeral. I hope the cast had an actual party right there, all somberly dressed in black and everything.
...
After a full season of 22 episodes of television in a movie screen, this was a pretty great finale. Congrats on making the most expensive tv show of all time, Marvel. Excelsior!

We’re No Heroes : Chapter 5
Characters: Dean, Sam, sister!reader, Tony, Thor, Bucky, Steve, Falcon, Clint, Bruce, I think Nat is just chillin’ somewhere. Surprise characters. Word Count: 1,472 Warnings: Language, brief alcohol use, Tony Stark nicknames, bad news bears, extreme Winchester sass. A/N: Here is the fifth chapter of We’re No Heroes! We’re starting to get into it now! I am absolutely loving where this is going, and I hope you are, too!
Beta’d by the ever lovely @amanda-teaches, thank you darlin’! The beautiful aesthetic is a fantastic gift from @atc74, who is just far too kind to me. Thank you, sweets!
As always, tags are at the bottom! If you’d like to be added, let me know! All tag lists are open.
Tumblr media
“You mean to tell me that someone has opened a...a hell hole?” Clint asks, his eyes glued to the map.
“A Devil’s Gate, yea,” Sam answers as he casts a sideways look to Dean.
“What are we talkin’ here? Are we in beautiful Sunnydale, fighting off the ancient evils pouring out of a Hellmouth or what?” Tony spouts off, and Steve leans in towards Y/N.
“What does that...I don't get that reference…”
Y/N turns to him, eyebrow raised, “It's from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Have you never seen it?” Steve shakes his head and Y/N smiles. “It's good. Honestly not too far off from the truth. You should watch it...that is, if this doesn't ruin your taste for stuff like that.” She turns back to her brothers, and Steve shifts back next to Bucky.
“I know for a fact Nat put that on your list, and you've watched every episode. That...well, that was sad. Very sad, Rogers.” Bucky mutters under his breath and though Steve remains quiet, Bucky chuckles at the crimson slowly creeping up his best friend’s neck.
Dean frowns in Bucky’s direction, but continues where Sam left off. “Devil’s Gates are a way for demons to exit Hell and come topside. Sammy used one once to get someone out of Hell, so, if you can get a reaper to break the rules for you, they’ll sneak in mortals, too. Not that that is something you’d ever want to do.”
“Reapers?” Nat pipes up from her seat near Clint.
“I’m sorry, is no one going to call out that he just said his brother went into hell and retrieved someone?” Falcon, who has been silent up until now, looks around, disbelief written on his face.
“Let’s get past this bullshit, then we’ll talk about reapers and hell and everything else in more detail, huh? As long as you’ve got enough alcohol. ‘Cause you’re all gonna need it.” Dean looks back at Sam. “Any idea who opened it?”
Sam shakes his head, “I can guess, but you’re not going to like it.”
“When do I ever like it?”
Sam sits on the edge of Tony’s desk, earning a bitch face that rivals his own. He carefully stands back up, giving Tony a sheepish smile, then looks back to Dean. “Our favorite neighborhood King of Hell.”
“There’s a king of Hell?” Bruce interjects, “Are we being serious right now? Next thing you’ll tell us is that Lucifer is real.”
Sam and Dean exchange a look and Y/N stifles a laugh.
“Listen, Banner, I know this is all new to you guys. I get that demons and kings of Hell, and the Morningstar himself is unknown territory, but it’s our territory. I promise that we’ll explain it to you guys, but, for right now, I need you to be a little more open minded, considering you regularly turn into a giant ass green monster.”
“That’s...that’s fair enough.” Bruce sits back down and Y/N walks over to join her brothers.
“His name is Crowley. He’s constantly looking for more power, more souls. Even he doesn’t have enough power alone to create this massive of a Devil’s Gate.” She turns to look at the map and shakes her head, “Someone else is helping him.”
“What benefit would there be to helping Crowley? Other than having a demon army capable of wiping out the population? It’s not like Crowley gets the souls if the humans are still alive. They’re just trapped.” Dean crosses his arms and also stares at the map. “What could anyone get out of that?”
“Unless whoever is helping him intends to double cross him. Promise him one thing, give him nothing. We know a few people like that.” Bucky’s voice is quiet, but resonates with everyone.
Y/N turns slowly to face him, “Like who, exactly?”
Tony clears his throat, and takes a shaky breath, “I’m afraid Capsicle 2.0 is right. There are several that would do that...but, unfortunately, only one powerful enough to help your royal majesty. He’s a colossal asshole, too, so the whole ‘double cross’ thing wouldn’t be out of the question.” Tony surveys the group, looks at their wide eyes and expectant looks and takes a deep breath. “I’m afraid that after all this time, Loki’s business partner has decided to change tactics now that the Chitauri can’t help him.”
Thor narrows his eyes, “It is impossible.”
“I’m sorry, Fabio, but I don’t think it is.” Tony looks back to Sam, Dean, and Y/N. “Ever heard of Thanos?”
“Thanos? The Titan?” Sam’s eyes are wide as he stares at Tony, “I thought he’d been killed during the Battle of New York?”
“No, he was not there. He sent my brother, Loki, to try to attempt world domination.” Y/N looks at Thor with raised eyebrows and he shrugs, “He is adopted.”
“So this Titan...is just doing this for shits and giggles, is that it?” Dean asks.
Tony shakes his head, “Thanos doesn’t do anything just for shits and giggles. It’s a useful side effect, sure, but he’s calculating, cold. Everything he does is a means to an end. Whatever he’s doing with this Crowley, he won’t keep his promise. He’ll use him, and then destroy him.”
Dean laughs, “That wouldn’t be so bad, would it, Sammy?” He quickly sobers when Sam glares at him. “Anyway, why would Thanos want to team up with Crowley? And how do they even know each other? An alien and a demon?” He hangs his head, “Why is this our life?”
“Crowley will do anything to get what he wants. If Thanos has promised him souls, regardless of how they’ve discovered the other, he’s going to do it. He’s calculating, too, but power distracts him.”
Dean rolls his eyes at Sam, “Shiny things distract him. It’s not that hard. Wave a brand new, designer suit in his direction, and he has to change his underwear. The question is, what are we going to do? Dealing with Crowley is one thing, but Thanos?”
“I say we go find this Crowley and beat the information out of him. That tends to work on my enemies.” Thor stands up straighter, his chest puffed out.
Y/N laughs, “That’s not going to work, Thor. Crowley doesn’t fall for that kind of thing, you’d never be able to get your hands on him. Me, on the other hand, he has a soft spot for. Anything to irritate my brothers. I can get the information from him.”
“Absolutely not!” Dean steps down from the platform and heads over to the small bar that Tony has set up in his workspace. “You are not going to use your...your feminine wiles to get what you want from a demon king. You know what he is! He doesn’t have a soft spot for anyone.”
“Oh, come on, Dean. I can do it. He’s always liked me, even more than he likes you. I can do this! Get in, get out, nothing to it. I just need to cast the spell, see where he is.”
“I said no, Y/N.You aren’t going to talk to him.” Before Tony can stop him, Dean pours a shot glass, tips it back, and pours another one. “As a matter of fact, you aren’t staying here. You’re going to go home until we get this taken care of.”
“Go home?! I am not going to go home! The end of the world is practically nigh, and you just want me to leave?”
“I want you to be safe. I want you to be alive. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but this kind of fight, not everyone makes it. I refuse to watch you die because you’re too damn hard headed to go somewhere safe.”
“I am a grown ass woman, Dean. I found you, by myself, and it wasn’t exactly an easy road getting there. I have seen you become a monster to stop evil, I’ve seen Sam practically destroy himself in order to save the world, and you just think you’re going to bench me? It’s bullshit, Dean.”
“Y/N, go back to the bunker. That’s an order.” Sam opens his mouth to speak, but snaps it shut when Y/N glares at him.
She shifts her gaze to Dean and speaks, her voice low, “Okay, John. But I’ll tell you right now, if I leave, I’m not going to the bunker. I’m going to my actual home, not some trash heap you call the bat cave, legacy.” She storms off towards the elevator and the room falls silent as they all stare at her retreating back.
“Dean-” Sam starts, but Dean throws a hand up and holds a whiskey bottle up in the other.
“Who’s ready for a story?”

Mourn| Thor
Tumblr media
This oneshot contains Infinity War spoilers!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE!!
This oneshot is to get me back into the groove of writing just to see if it spikes activity on my blog. I loved Thor in this movie and am so glad that he and Chris are both finally getting the recognition they deserve!
i”m not super happy with this but I hope you guys enjoy it
Prompt: He comes to you in the quietness of the aftermath, unaware of just how much his heart is breaking at the thought - No one he loves is left. No one except you.
Song lyrics come from You - Keaton Henson
He comes to you in the aftermath of the battle. The silence is deafening enough to where your ears are ringing, but you can’t seem to pry your gaze away from the ashes that litter the fields of Wakanda.
Thor was by no means a weak man. He was the subject of legends. The Prince of Asgard, The God of Thunder, and a remarkable man. A man of honor - and he did not fail to live up to his legacy. The two of you had been best friends on Asgard before you had realized just how deeply you loved the son of Odin.
“You are the center of my dreams.” Your fingers drifted up to graze the chiseled frame of his jaw, the stubble growing there scratching the pads of your fingers. it had only been a number of days since Ragnarok, forcing you to board a refugee ship with the course set for Earth alongside the man you loved and his brother. “The beat to my heart, and-”
Thor silenced your rambling with a searing kiss. “You are the only forever I wish to live.” He whispered into your mouth, a declaration professed between the two of you that he very much intended to keep.
You had never been one to fully process your grief. It was a habit to bottle it up and bury it deep within your soul, only allowing it to rise to the surface when things became too much to bear. You had never been taught how to mourn the things you lost, or the people who died.. Or the ones who had simply left you behind. Grief was not something you were accustomed to feeling.. and that tore you to pieces inside when it all came crashing down at once.
But now.. Now you didn’t know how the two of you would be able to endure such a loss. Everyone you loved - The Asgardians, Heimdall, Loki.. Everyone was dead.
Everyone except Thor.
Your heavy laden steps trudged through the field in the direction of Thor, who had not moved from his spot since burying Stormbreaker into Thanos chest. The God of Thunder was hunched over on all fours in the ashes of the fallen, his calloused fingers digging into the dry Earth.
If you must wait
Wait for them here in my arms as I shake
Thor just barely registers the gentleness of familiar hands that skim the outline of his broad shoulders just before they wrap around his torso, linking at his ribcage as you press your cheek into his back. He is too paralyzed to move even with the presence of your touch, afraid that if he were to speak.. The dam would burst and he would never find the strength to stand.
If you must weep
Do it right here in my bed as I sleep
“Thor.. I am so sorry.” It’s all you can manage to say as the sound of his heartbeat echoes against your ear. It takes several moments for you to properly formulate just the right words he needs to hear. “Grief is a part of life, sweetheart.” You whisper in his ear as your lips graze the soft flesh of his neck, a kiss meant to bring some comfort to the trembling demi-god. “And I know how deeply you hurt.. how the pain feels as if it might swallow you whole. You want nothing more then to forget that any of this ever happened to begin with.”
You consider it an accomplishment when he nods ever so slightly. At least you have his attention.
If you must mourn my love
Mourn with the moon and the stars up above
“Loki wasn’t wrong about one thing, Thor.” In one swift movement, the God of Thunder pivoted his entire body toward you and pulled you into a crushing embrace, chest pressed tightly against yours. You sank into the warmth and security that enveloped your entire body as Thor buried his face into the crook of your neck. “My King... The sun will shine on us again.”
If you must mourn
Don’t do it alone
The remainder of the Avengers who had been involved in the battle of Wakanda gathered several hundred feet behind you, but none of them had the heart to approach you and Thor. They all knew the depths of the loss that had taken place here today. The bodies that would not be able to be buried.. the unspoken tragedy that was written across the faces of the people who mattered most to you.
Grief was not a luxury.
You remained locked within his embrace, his face buried in the crook of your neck as his body trembled with his silent sobs. “Father-Heimdall...” Thor rasped, lifting his chin to haphazardly wipe at his bloodshot eyes. You pressed your lips into a thin line and loosely hooked your legs around his hips. “Asgard.. Loki.” His voice broke at the mention of his younger brother, who had given his own life to Thanos in order to save Thor. “Y/N... I cannot bear to lose anything-anyone else. I cannot take anymore death.”
If you must live darling one
A shaky breath breaks past your lips as you press your forehead against Thors. The man you loved lifted his eyes -- showing you the familiar piercing blue and newfound green, courtesy of Rocket-- to meet your own. It was often when you looked into those eyes that you found yourself to be most at home.
Just livea
“We promised each other forever, Odinson.” You replied softly, managing a warm smile as the two of you slowly stand to your feet. Warm fingers brushed against your own, seeking solace in your touch as you intertwined your fingers with his. “And every forever must start at the beginning, my King.”
Just live
As the two of you walk towards Steve Rogers, hand in hand, it is in that moment that Thor begins to find his strength renewed. His family might be gone, his people reduced to ashes and his home destroyed.. but there is a piece of him that believes that he can continue to live for Asgards Legacy.
He can continue to live for you.  Because you are the only one he needs. A reason to wake in the morning.. and a reason to hope for a better future. And in that moment as he listens to Steve Rogers execute the next part of their plan.. it is then he realizes that you are enough of a reason to fight. Enough of a reason to live.
You have always been enough.
