BTS American Hustle Life Ep4

Ep 3 recap: BTS are in LA to learn about hip hop. During that episode they met their dance teacher, Jenny Kita. She set them a few challenges including a solo demonstration, a dance battle against professional dancers, and the task of choreographing a dance routine in small groups. J-Hope’s dance skills shone the brightest throughout which was both a surprise and a delight! Jin, despite being the least proficient dancer in the band, tried really hard and it paid off in the final challenge – he and J-Hope were deserving winners.

We also started to see the friendships between the band members more, which was quite lovely. I really hope this continues in the series.

On to Episode 4!

Holy cow, that dorm is an absolute pigsty. Ewwww! The amount of water bottles alone makes me want to cry.

Lol, I wonder how RM and Jimin ended up having to clean the dorm up?

They did a good job with it though and somehow managed to find some fun in between. The bathroom scene was hilarious!

Like last episode Jimin appears to have dropped some of his mask. Maybe I’m just seeing things but in this ep he just seems a little softer around the edges - more playful rather than loud and over-the-top. I think RM is good company for him. I’m not sure how to word it without accidentally making it look like I think the other lads treat him poorly (which I don’t believe they do!!) but I think RM is quite respectful to Jimin? As the leader RM’s attention will be pulled in many directions and when he can give spare undivided attention he probably spends it more on his elder bandmates as they are closer to his own age. However, I get the sense that when he does focus on Jimin he does it with the kind of patience and gentleness that the others are maybe not quite so liberal with? That’s not to say he won’t tease Jimin or joke around with him (he does) but so far it comes across as a little warmer than the others perhaps because he’s naturally gentler in nature? I’m probably talking out my **** here but that’s just what I’ve sensed.

One final thing: Jimin’s English is really improving!

So while Jimin and RM are cleaning the dorm, Suga, V, and Jungkook are on laundry duty. LMAO how is that fair? I was thinking that the “chores” were punishment for losing the challenge in Ep3 but Jimin and RM were so close to winning and yet seem to have been given the worst chore?

LOL, how can those three lads make laundry seem so complicated??

They really are big kids – I’m glad they can find ways to have fun though. But ewwwwwwwwww Jungkook, the 3/5/7/10 second rule is a myth, don’t eat things off the ground – particularly in a foreign country!!

Woah!!! they licked each other’s ice creams without hesitation!

To be honest I think it is more of a reflection on my own culture rather than theirs that this seemed so surprising to me. Generally sharing food without the ‘ew that’s got your spit on’ and other hang-ups – particularly between boys - ends around 8-10 years old here.

Jungkook sweetie, I really doubt you’ve put on much weight – are you sure you haven’t just grown another few inches? It certainly looks like you’ve grown. At this point you might end up towering over Suga and Jimin.

Ah so Jin and J-Hope are food shopping. So maybe these chores are not punishments for losing the challenge. I’d still like to know how Jimin and RM got the short straw to clean the dorm lol.

Oh good grief, BTS cooking – after their challenge in the first series I dread to think what poor concoction they’re going to come up with.

OK so J-Hope’s cheese sticks verdict… V = X, RM = XX, Jimin (so cute as he bounded over like an excited puppy) = too polite to use his new English word “disgusting”

Jin’s ham on toast concoction: LMAO at Jin blowing on the forkful before feeding Jimin. No comment on Jimin’s tongue action though…

It seemed to taste okay judging by Jimin’s reaction. RM does not agree lol. It was cute how Jin was feeding the rest of the toast to Jimin and Jungkook like a parent feeding infants.

After what I wrote earlier about RM it’s nice to see the other lads interacting with Jimin more. I wonder if some of the impatience that occasionally comes across is simply down to the editing?

So we move on to a new day and the whole group are heading to Long Beach by foot. Crikey, Jungkook looks like he’s grown another inch over night!! Why on earth is he wearing two layers in the LA heat???!!

It’s great to see that BTS are still ‘star struck’ by celebrities. I guess, back then, the band were not that well known – at least not like they are now. They certainly did not cross my radar – not like 1D did.

LMAO – V randomly saying he drooled when he saw Warren G. What?????!!!!

Warren G seems a great guy; very chill and calm with the band. *Again I’m going to say it but I love how BTS have the confidence to say another man looks handsome like they did when admiring the photo in the record store*

Yeah Warren G is a really decent guy.

There’s something fundamentally poetic in the way that Jimin said of Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Nate, (in a tone of amazement and disbelief) “They were just elementary kids but became legends”. I mean, BTS were once ‘elementary school’ kids and while, in that moment, Jimin did not know how big the band would get, the same sentiment applies to BTS.

So their new challenge is to write lyrics based on their own lives to Regulate.

Oh good grief Jin, if the American dorm is slowly becoming like your Korean dorm then I shudder to think what state your Korean dorm is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooh so the band are opening up a little about their lives in order to make lyrics for their rap.

After a bit of travelling by bus and making friends with the locals, Jin and J-Hope settle down in a park to talk. We learn Jin started off acting and not singing? Now that’s interesting! Not all of BTS had joining a band or even BTS’ music style in mind from the beginning. Jin also has a brother and he was into hip hop so Jin had some knowledge of it before joining the band.

J-Hope’s turn and he admitted when he first joined the band everyone was a rapper and he was the only dancer which made him feel remote.

This, again, is really interesting to learn as this was the scenario I was pinning on Jimin – unless there were different BTS members back when J-Hope joined? I really don’t know how the band was formed so I hope at some point they talk about this. I liked how Jin admitted he was surprised to hear about J-Hope feelings. They should talk like that more often.

RM and Jimin travel to another part of town – near the school/college that some of the most famous rappers in the music industry attended. I really like the motto of the building “Enter to learn go forth to serve”. I’m not American so I don’t know it’s true connotations but to me it’s simple and strangely compelling. Like; ‘We don’t care who you are either come in and learn and repay by using it to serve the community - or travel forth on down the street and sign up for the army and serve that way. There’s a purpose for everyone.”

Jimin’s answer to what he found difficult when he joined the band is fascinating. While the translation felt a little off, it reads as he cares a lot about what others think of him and doesn’t want to let anyone down or let any of his (self-perceived) shortcomings hold others back. In order to achieve this he spent a lot of time trying to catch up or improve so that no one could easily spot his weaknesses. Ultimately, he wants to care less what others think of him so he can lose some of the pressure? I really think there is a lot more to this “want to care less about what others think” than the vague answer he gave (or was edited in). His starting phrase “I should live quietly for the sake of my team” was quite a loaded sentiment and didn’t quite follow what he said next – definitely some careful editing there.

RM’s sentiment echoes this. He talked about seeing a very over-weight man walking around LA topless and admired the man’s confidence to not care what other people thought. RM wants some of that confidence to stop constantly watching out for what others thought about him. This is the type of pressure many celebrities talk about a lot. In my opinion, any one remotely “famous” are seen as role models (rightly or wrongly) and society holds them to ridiculous standards. Make one mistake and that’s you cancelled like you are some item in a shop that can be returned for a refund. I personally think people have a very skewed idea about what makes a ‘role model’. For me, a role model shouldn’t be perfect but when they do make mistakes they should own up to it, apologise, and attempt to fix or make up for any hurt caused. We, as their fans, need to relearn how to accept an apology, forgive human errors, allow people to learn, and move on. Min rant over.

Moving on: Suga, V, and Jungkook are down near the beach front discussing their lyrics. The way V instantly thought of his Dad tells me he’s quite family orientated. It was touching the way he said he made him the person he was today.

Jungkook’s thoughts where based more on his internal thoughts of himself as a person and a musician. It was very honest of him to admit that back home he’d been pretty confident of his talent but once he joined (BigHit?) he quickly realised there was a lot of people with as much, if not more, talent than him and it knocked his confidence. I wish Suga had spoke more about his own thoughts rather than just write the lyrics.

Challenge Day:

To be fair, all three groups rose to the challenge and not only had some great lyrics but sounded polished and rehearsed. We only got snippets of the songs but from what we did hear I would struggle to pick a winner. I guess, for me, it would feel like picking one’s persons’ struggles over another’s. Hard to judge.

Awww, Suga, V, and Jungkook won. They definitely tried harder with this challenge than the one in ep 3 so I felt it was deserved.

Final musings:

Another interesting episode. I think the band learned a lot more about hip hop this episode and Warren G was a real gent. We also learned more about each band member in terms of their thoughts and experiences when joining the band. We (I) also learned more about their personalities which hadn’t been so clear in previous eps and series. I think the editing can misconstrue some moments so I’m probably going to re-evaluate my musings on each band member from time to time – this is a good thing though!

BnHA Chapter 250: Why Is This Family Not in Therapy

Previously on BnHA: Fuyumi invited everyone over to Camp Todovid for a wholesome family meal because what could possibly go wrong. Kacchan and Deku proceeded to spend the evening blinking distress signals at each other in Morse code while Natsu shoved breadsticks into his purse and skedaddled after getting mad at Endeavor in a completely unexpected turn of events which absolutely no one could have foreseen. After dinner, Shouto had a heart to heart with Fuyu (and then Deku) about whether or not he was ready to forgive his dad, and meanwhile Endeavor said a prayer for his very dead son Touya. Poor Touya. He was such a nice boy. You know what he really used to like? Messenger bags. He’d put the oddest things in them, too. I wonder if Touya would still enjoy collecting strange and disturbing things in bags if he was still alive today. Alas. We’ll never know.

Today on BnHA: Some guy named Takami who just got out of prison decides to show up out of the blue and fucking kidnap Natsuo because WHY NOT. But before that happens, we get a nice scene of Kacchan and Deku sitting down with Shouto and Fuyu, who finally decide it’s high time they talked about THEIR SECRET DEAD BROTHER seeing as LET’S BE REAL, THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS DINNER TO BEGIN WITH. So basically, (1) he’s definitely dead! For sure! 100% deceased!, and (2) Natsuo apparently blames Endeavor for his death, lol no big. Deku and Kacchan are for some reason super fucking chill about hearing this, and then Endeavor comes over and is all “TIME TO HEAD BACK” and omg I’ve never hated him more. And then as they’re driving away from Todofield Hall, Takami shows up and is all “HEY ENDEAVOR LOOK I KIDNAPPED YOUR CHILD AND I’M GONNA KILL HIM!” and holy shit but Horikoshi is just fucking with us now, though.

(As always, all comments are my unspoiled reactions from my initial readthrough of the chapter. I did a quick edit for grammar and clarity afterward, and added some ETAs in the process, but aside from that there are no changes.)

(ETA: so I saw all these people going “wtf is this Hawks’s dad??” and I was like “lol what” and it took me longer than I’d like to admit to put two and two together, but anyways, long story short, “Takami” just so happens to be Hawks’s recently revealed surname (with the same kanji and everything -- 鹰見). so while every instinct in my body is screaming at me “gtfo no way they’re related”, it is an extremely bizarre coincidence, so uh. ?? I got nothin’, basically.)

also I will never understand villains who get all smug about being captured alive. “your one mistake was not killing me when you should have!” like okay, so you’re admitting you’re a piece of shit who should have died, and that the hero totally could have done it, but they were nice enough not to so SHAME ON THEM, apparently

anyways I really don’t understand what’s going on at all lol. some guy looked up to Endeavor and then got himself captured by him for some reason. let’s continue I guess

I’m just going to assume that had Fuyu been the one to get captured, Endeavor wouldn’t have even heard about it until he received a text from her with a picture of the guy encased in ice and a caption asking “so dad, uh, what should I do with this?”)

Shouto says it’s not exactly an easy topic to bring up, and okay, fair. buuuut also, this is the same child who ambushed Deku in a corridor back when they barely knew each other and was all “let me tell you all about my dad’s quirk marriage and how he abused me and my mom and how I got this scar” so like. what exactly do you consider “easy to bring up” though

Shouto was six when that happened, so if Touya was in middle school he’d have been between 12 and 15. so it’s very likely then that he was 14, the exact same age as Fuyu, so therefore THE TWIN THEORY IS CONFIRMED! WE DID IT TUMBLR

also love that Shouto tells Fuyu to just text the recipe to him, and then he will share it with Katsuki. because they are best friends

also Deku is the only one here with any manners at all but oh well. we all been knew

(ETA: though to be fair, Katsuki asking for the recipe is about as big a compliment as one can give to a chef, and it kind of serves as a combination “thanks for the meal” and “everything was really good” tbh. shit, now I want her recipe.)

anyway so now they’re all driving away (back to school?? I think he said?) and Endeavor’s talking to them about their upcoming schedule. so I guess they are heading back to school, then

anyway so he wants them to work the weekend as well as two weekdays? damn that’s a lot of class to be missing, he’s asking them to skip literally half the school week (since they have Saturday class too)

takeaways from this: 1.) I honestly would have thought Deku would be the one tutoring other people in English, if anything. as of the midterms, he was above Shouto in academic rankings, but more importantly he’s also the biggest All Might fan on the planet, and All Might spent a lot of time in America in his youth and presumably speaks decent English himself, so you’d think Deku’s English would be passable just from his obsession alone. but I guess you just can’t beat that fancy private school education

and the other takeaway: Katsuki doesn’t like being squished in the backseat of a cramped Japanese car with Deku and Shouto. this one is absolutely shocking. I’m gonna need a moment to process this for sure. anyways poor Deku, he’s probably getting so many elbows to the ribs right now. I hope he elbows back

(ETA: actually the fact that Katsuki is apparently sticking his head out the window here in addition to complaining about the cramped conditions makes me wonder if he’s actually getting carsick. my poor baby do you need some dramamine.)

so anyway this is a bit sudden but I have a new favorite character now. life is funny like that. does he remind anyone else of Major Armstrong

okay but shit, I really fucking love this answer, though. he’s so matter-of-fact about it. because the thing is, the question isn’t really “when did you start baby-sitting a bunch of kids”; it’s “when did you actually start caring about something other than yourself?” and the answer is that it happened when he finally reached the top and realized the responsibility that went hand in hand with that role. it forced him to finally look past just himself, and to think about what it really means to be a hero. shit, I feel another essay coming on, but it’ll have to wait for some other time lol. we still have to see if Natsu’s going to make it out of this alive

anyway so now Armstrong is chuckling and saying that status really does change people huh, and they’re driving on into the night

like, don’t get him wrong, he’s still scared for his life. but also he’s starting to get a bit of that same feeling that Katsuki and Deku were getting in the last chapter, like he’s suddenly found himself right in the midst of some grade A melodrama from which there is no escape. anyways don’t mind him, he’s just going to chill here in this big pile of bandages and see where this goes

so Endeavor is all “........... YOU’RE FROM SEVEN YEARS AGO!” and honestly that’s impressive. I guess the quirk is a pretty memorable one, though

“you had so many things that I could never get” doesn’t this sound remarkably similar to Deku’s speech to Kacchan during their second fight at Ground Beta? huh

and also, I think we are slowly dancing closer and closer to the Thing Katsuki Lacks That He Needs To Learn From His Internship From Endeavor. what do you guys think? I have a lot of thoughts about this, but again, I’ll save it for another post seeing as shit is hitting the fan right now and all

ARE YOU SERIOUS, OF ALL THE TIMES TO HAVE ANOTHER THIRTEEN PAGE CHAPTER! HORIKOSHI YOU ARE FUCKING KILLING ME HERE

well shit. okay so when he says “don’t make the same mistake twice”, he’s clearly talking about Endeavor letting him live the last time they met, but also I can’t help but feel like there might be some kind of double meaning here as well. the fact that he went from theft to kidnapping and attempted murder, on top of him mentioning earlier about how he went digging into Endeavor’s past, makes me wonder if he could possibly be trying to recreate a specific set of events. or is that crazy??

but just, hear me out. what if something similar to this went down before, with Touya perhaps being taken hostage by a villain (though it couldn’t have been the same guy because the timing is off, and also Endeavor didn’t recognize him right off the bat), and Endeavor making some critical mistake which resulted in him failing to save him, and Natsu then blaming him for that and holding him responsible for the death. honestly that makes the most sense to me, since I would think that “literally murdered his own kid” would be kind of a deal-breaker as far as the rest of the family ever reconciling with him. so yeah, this could get very interesting here

(ETA: hoo boy, so I’ve been browsing the bnha tags a bit, and it seems that a lot of people are interpreting the hints in this chapter very differently from me lol. I admit I could certainly be wrong about the “don’t make the same mistakes” bit having a double meaning. but like, do we really believe that Endeavor just straight up murdered his son and got away with it, or that it was covered up or something? or that he drove Touya to suicide? I think it’s much more likely that Touya pushed himself too hard, or that he accidentally got caught up in one of Endeavor’s attacks, or something along those lines.

what really struck me, though, was that a lot of people actually seem to be hoping for it to come out that Endeavor really is responsible, though. like, to the point where they’re prepared to be outraged if it turns out he’s not, and this part of the story doesn’t end up conforming to the narrative of Endeavor just being a sinister cartoon villain. and like, I don’t really know what to say about that. except that I really hate this idea that if an abuser is ever portrayed as something other than a heartless monster then it’s super-problematic and/or just bad writing. that Endeavor not murdering his son = Horikoshi endorses child abuse. or something. anyways I don’t have the spoons to really throw my hat into the ring here, but basically my opinion is that life is rarely just black and white in that way, and this story reflects that, and I think it’s absolutely the right call to make and is actually very good writing and I respect it.

and also like, it’s not some all-or-nothing thing here where he’s either a perfect saint, or the worst person to ever exist! what he is is a man who made some terrible choices in the past and abused and hurt the very people he should have loved and protected the most. and what he is, also, is a man who has realized the awfulness of the things he’s done, and is trying his best now to be a good person. what he is is a human being. and acknowledging that doesn’t mean that you condone the abuse; it simply means that you acknowledge that people are made up of more than just the worst things they’ve done in their lives. that’s it.

anyways, for all of my “not gonna through my hat into the ring” nonsense, I’m doing a pretty good impression of exactly that, so I’ll shut up now. damn you Endeavor and your controversy-sparking ways. what kind of psychopath looks at the fucking BnHA fandom and says “not bad, but you know what this place could use? more discourse.” you knew exactly what you were doing, you fiend.)

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

So, while I’ve got half a billion OCs by technicality, my main idiot is Azaryne Redoran who takes the role of the Vestige in the ESO story I write with @sinnaroll by the name of Soulbound. (Ima also just casually pass on these questions for her to answer in reply for D'tannen, who is the other main character in this thingy so you can get to know him too!)

1. What is/are your OC’s nickname(s) and how did it come about?

Az’s main nickname is the self-explanatory name shortening from “Azaryne” to “Az”. But D'tannen has kinda stuck on jabbing him with “pretty boy” to the point where it’s basically a nickname lol

Also, in-game plot reasons dictate that the Five Companions also know him by “Vestige”, much to his dismay. It’s what the Scrolls named him by, so the Prophet tends to slip and refer to him that way, and the others kinda do too by proxy for a while. However, after Az makes it clear that he’s really uncomfortable with it, Lyris and Sai specifically make a point not to call him that.

4. What is a noticeable physical attribute of your OC?

So I memed twice earlier before I got to these questions lasdgkh gomen, but my goofier answers are Dorito Shape and Resting Trouble Face

But more seriously, one of his major notable physical features is that he’s pretty much covered in tattoos from his neck down past his waist and starting down his legs. They’re being redesigned from scratch right now because I can’t ever allow myself to have characters that can be adequately represented in game i guess lmfao but here’s the in-game tattoos with some photo-editing for an earlier visual draft on where they might cut off—

It’s a total personal headcanon but I decided that since the in-game body marking style was pretty clearly influenced by Maori-style kiriituhi, that Az’s tattoos are also highly significant in a similar way. Each piece symbolizes or connects to either his ancestry, or his own life and skills and milestones. His designs weren’t finished, but have the indication of where they were meant to continue as he hit new points in his life. Unfortunately, since his life was cut so short, that’s as far as they ever get.

On a lighter note, he also has pretty big ears?? Lmao

5. What does your OC normally wear? What would your OC wear on a special night?

He likes clothes that are comfortable but flattering. He knows what his assets are and enjoys looking well-dressed – a bit of a remnant from his previous life as a noble.

He tends to favor sleeveless tops and cool-colored fabrics with neutral accents. He particularly likes blues of all shades, and some purples. He’ll also occasionally wear red. On his travels he wears leather armor that fits within these features, and notably has a Khajiiti-style jack because he liked the aesthetic of it when he saw the style in a tailor’s display.

When he’s dressing up, he’ll wear more flowing robe-like attire. He had more reason to do so while he was alive, and at the time it was usually specifically Dunmeri cultural clothing. Over the course of Soulbound, he only dresses up the once so far for a date with Sinna. That takes place in Orsinium, so it’s Orcish formal wear.

Even if the situation’s not a fancy one, though, he’ll usually still wear kohl eyeshadow, which D’tannen gives him shit for, of course lol.

8. How does your OC talk/what does your OC’s voice sound like?

Az’s voice is light, crisp, warm and friendly. It’s between tenor and baritone in range, and the expected Dunmeri accent. He’s well spoken, and you can tell he’s well educated, but his phrasing isn’t snobbish or condescending, and there’s a firm sort of sincerity to his speech, even when he’s being playful.

15. What was your OC’s childhood like?

Az’s childhood was a little complicated in that it came with a great deal of privilege, but also a great deal of expectation. He was noble-born— the eldest son of House Redoran’s Archmaster— so before he was even old enough to have an awareness of the world, his parents had already decided many things about his future.

In spite of both this and the constant pressure of the Redoran philosophy that “a light, careless life is not worth living”, Az had an untamable spirit that continuously tried his parents’ patience. As a child, his impulsivity, tendency to bend the rules, and headstrong defiance on points he fundamentally disagreed with led to frequent discipline, and a particularly strained relationship with his father.

Over time, he begrudgingly learned to play by the rules, but would still disappear from time to time for brief moments of freedom.

He had two younger siblings— Eralane and Meril, and they had very close and loving relationships with each other. Az always did his bes to see right by them, so they felt safe in knowing that he would always have their backs. They didn’t ever keep much from him, as a result, and Meril specifically often looked up to him as a role model.

By the time he was fourteen, he’d been arranged into a political betrothal to solidify clan relations within the House, and it was decided that the two would be married in 16 years when they were both fully grown adults. Neither he nor his intended fiancée were really comfortable with this, but even as young as they were, they knew it was a sticky situation far bigger than just the two of them. So, they quickly established that, future aside, they didn’t feel entitled to each other’s feelings. They would both rather have a straightforward, honest friendship than try to force things between them.

Because of this, there was no tension when other chemistries developed in later years. Instead, they continued to ignore their inevitable marriage, and turned their performative date nights into formally-dressed vent and gossip sessions. Using the expectations put upon them to their advantage as they got older, they also happily became each other’s alibi when either of them needed time away with other people.

22. Who is/are your OC’s closest friend(s)?

Since arriving back on Tamriel, he’s been shuffling company a lot on his journeys. He’s also pretty introverted, despite being fairly socially adept. He doesn’t have any real connections from his previous life anymore, but has met many people and made casual friends and positive acquaintances with a solid chunk of new ones.

In terms of more serious friendships, D’tannen is honestly the closest, which is kind of incredible honestly laksdhg. But, they travel with each other day in and day out, so there’s a tight bond there that’s developing fast.

He’s also particularly attached to Irvane, who was his first friend since coming back to Nirn.

23. Who are the people your OC surrounds him/herself with?

Along the same lines as I just said above, he’s never in one place for very long right now, so he is constantly around new people. His kind heart and need for hands-on activity means he tends to gravitate toward people he can help in some way or another. His empathy and sense of honor do most of the weeding. He’d rather be around someone who has shown good intentions, even if they are rough around the edges, than someone who rests on the laurels of past deeds and judges others against themselves.

24. Who are the people your OC dislikes/hates?

It’s pretty damn hard to make this list, at least if you have any sort of good bone in your body. He’s really very empathetic and patient, and will forgive so quickly once he feels amends have been made that it’s honestly gotten him into trouble.

But, even with that said, he’s got some strong resentments for some strong reasons… Notably: Mannimarco and his Worm Cult, ol’ Molag Bal himself, and pretty much anyone who allies with them… Malacus is another name that quickly finds its way on the list under “kill unflinchingly” as he becomes closer with D’tannen.

25. If your OC has a soulmate, who is it?

33. What subjects interested your OC?

He’s always done whittling as a hobby, so he’s currently kinda advancing on that in woodcarving. Since he was also trained in maintaining and repairing his own weapons and armor in life, that’s carried over into an interest in actually crafting weapons on his own. He does wind up making his own bow way later on, and even spends a bit of time with the Morkul Orcs in the Orsinium arc learning to do some metalwork.

42. What makes your OC happy?

He’s very attached to his dog Blackjack, and the mutt can always seem to pick him up when he’s otherwise faltering. He loves whittling and tends to carve little objects to occupy his mind. Complicatedly, D’tannen makes him happy as well, lol.

He also tends to have moments where he finds happiness in specific things, but the emotion related feels strange or misplaced. When this happens, it’s usually because whatever he’s experiencing— a particular sight or smell or flavor— is something that ties directly to a positive memory he’s lost from his life before. A sort of unwitting-nostalgia that’s hard to pinpoint or replicate.

As a general rule, he’s pretty easily contented. He lives very much in the moment, which combined with his adaptability and natural optimism, means that he’s usually able to find some small spark of cheer for himself anywhere he goes. He’s always wanted the freedom of life as an adventurer, so if circumstances were different, this would honestly be an ideal life for him. However, it’s pretty dampened by the stress of current events, along with the nagging restless and hollow feeling of having lost his soul.

50. What secrets does your OC have?

This is a bit of a tricky one. He’s not a super open person, but he also doesn’t like to lie to cover things up. However, there are many things about his life at present that he finds he has to dance around giving knowledge of. In some ways, the very nature of his current existence is something he keeps tucked away. It’s not very easy to explain to anyone, so he’s grateful that for the majority of the people he interacts with, direct questions never really come up.

In the second act of Soulbound, however, after he becomes very close with Sinna, Sinna asks him directly for his story. He dodges it for quite some time before finally giving him the details, but he’s kind of nervous at that point to state it. He doesn’t know how Sinna might react. But, he lays it out on the table anyway: He’s not truly alive. He’s what remained of himself after he was sacrificed by cultists to Molag Bal. His soul was stolen, and he has only vague pieces of memories from when he lived. And now, he’s been prophesied to assist in stopping a daedric invasion.

Sinna’s response was heartfelt. But, nobody could blame him for the fact that all he could manage for a brief moment after listening was “Wild….”

54. Does your OC think with his/her head or heart?

Heart… His upbringing tried its best to instill an ability to detach for the sake of duty, but honestly, he’s never been able to. Even when he knows there’s no way he can avoid a difficult situation, and is able to approach it tactically, emotion will be gnawing at him all the while, and he’ll be completely staunch on the things he believes the most if those interfere with the “logical” course of action.

56. What are some of your OC’s strengths?

He’s honestly got a wide range of skills in a lot of ways. He’s a highly skilled archer, and has a very well-rounded set of combat and survival skills that have been hardwired into him since a very young age. He’s also got a great sense of aesthetics, which he likes to express in woodworking and whittling when he can. He’s intelligent, but a lot of his skill specifically in emotional/social intelligence comes from his powerful empathy, and how dramatic swings of circumstances in his life have given him many perspectives to draw from, even subconsciously through the massive amnesia he struggles with. He’s incredibly adaptable. He’s intensely loyal, courageous, and firmly optimistic even through the worst circumstances. He’s got an incredibly strong character to him, and it tends to be both charming and inspiring, even when he doesn’t recognize that he’s producing these effects himself.

61. What is the general impression your OC gives other people?

Honest. Empathetic and selfless. Good-natured, down to earth, and a bit wild-spirited. Patient, incredibly forgiving. Helpful. Playfully charming. A protector. A defender of good.

73. What is your OC’s favorite form of entertainment?

He likes art, stories, nature, animals, and adventure. Crafting from time to time as well.

78. What is your OC’s favorite time of day?

Late morning. The point in the day when you’re up and awake and setting off. The whole day lies in wait before you, and you’re ready to meet it

so. it’s that time of year when i (mod raijin if you didn’t already know) talk about this blog and all the things in-between! i’ve been meaning to make this sort of post for a whole but i’m lazy and i’ve been busy recently with other stuff so forgive me lol

so in p cool news, we’ve hit 500+ followers and 600+ posts! wow! i’m not entirely too sure why people are following this blog and not reblogging posts :P but thanks from the bottom of my heart to the people who send in confessions and interact with this blog, we wouldn’t be here without your support <3 <3 <3

in terms of celebrating this huge milestone... i have no ideas lmao. someone did suggest a roundup of the most popular gods by no. of confessions but w/ the new tumblr tagging count you can just see that for yourself. here’s a lil picture summary of the top three if you wanna know who’s the most confessed about god on this blog :^>

still not too sure how raijin was the winner but i’m not complaining lol. i like to think that he’s just a popular lad but i think being taking on the mantle of ‘mod raijin’ might have something to do with it 🤔

jungkook wanted to have a side job after many years in the idol world

other than helping hoseok w his dance studio

so he decided to be a youtuber, which he lowkey enjoys doing

he likes being behind the camera, more than being on camera

except sometimes where he does prank videos on taehyung or dance videos as 3J(jhope,jimin,jungkook)

the content on his channel is pretty messy tbh, sometimes dance covers, dance tutorials, cooking tutorials, travelogues, vlogs etc

every member would at least be guesting in 1 of jungkook’s videos

meokbang w seokjin, composing w yoongi or namjoon, dancing w hoseok and jimin, pranks w taehyung

editing is honestly on point?? and will meticulously list down the places he went to, the bgm he uses for his videos, camera used and editing software

reached 1 million subscribers in a week so youtube gave him the silver and golden play button at the same time LOL

now,, you first met jungkook at a really quaint cafe in osaka

you were surprised to see jungkook in japan in his free time

you knew of bangtan and you liked their music and members, but you werent really a diehard fan of them either

you, a travel writer/show producer(think buzzfeed), was dispatched to osaka to find eating recommendations to readers and perhaps have a potential Worth It episode

you were just minding your own business, typing away on your laptop when someone tapped on the table

you looked up, and nearly gasped because,, bangtan’s jungkook?? wow

jungkook spoke some stuff in japanese which you couldnt understand but by the looks of it he was prolly asking if the seat across you was taken

you shook your head, as he shot you a grateful smile and settled into the seat

you took some short glances at jungkook, and he was busy looking through some pictures on his dslr

you knew your friend being a big fan of jungkook, you discreetly took you your phone and took a picture of him,, until the clicking sound of the camera went off loudly and startled him

you cursed under your breath and apologised,, he just giggled and you were confused??

“yes i am, do you want a picture?”

hin being so smilely and open about it made you feel really bad honestly, he looked really invested in his pictures

last year, i wrote a script for a genesis mockumentary type thing, some of it is funny and some of it is really dumb/not that funny haha...and i don’t think i have the time and energy to make it so here’s what i wrote of the script, with pics and vids i intended to put in it...

TODAY we’re going to take an in depth look at the band GENESIS…..so disregard any vh1 doc you’ve seen on them…..if there are any….and anything you’ve seen on the BBC or whatever the fuck because this is the real stuff right here, baby!!!!! We’re gonna talk about PETER…AND PHIL….AND MIKE….AND TONY…..AND STEEEEEEVE……so lets get started

Lets take a little trip back to Surrey, England, specifically at Charterhouse, The Boys School of Absolute Ledges, circa 1967 where Peter Gabriel met Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford…..

Peter, known around the boarding school for his rendition of Engelbert Humperdinck’s rendition of “Release Me” on the flute and for eating glue because “it tastes good, innit?”, first encountered Tony and Mike at a performance of Tony’s solo project, known as “Makin’ Banknotes”, in which he would bang around on the piano for like an hour and sing “Yeah, Charterhouse reppin’, no gods, no masters, I’m the real lad, makin money, wankers”

Peter was so impressed by Tony’s keyboard skills he thought “Woah, I need to make a band right now, wow!”

He approached Tony after the performance, bestowing him with the highest of accolades…Tony seemed disinterested at first, he wanted to stay solo BABY, but Peter promised Tony they could practice at his parents’ house sometimes, which was enticing because his parents had a pool. This roped Tony right in! Dumbass Tony, when’s it warm enough to go swimming in England…

Mike who was just…..standing in the bathroom listening to them, jumped out and said, “You guys need a bassist for your band, I can also play the guitar too because who knows when shit’s gonna get fucked up haha”

Peter smelled him, curiously “You smoke the marijuana?”

“Haha, yeah mate,” said Mike, who was like blazed 24/7.

Well whatever. Peter already had two members for his band that he started like 15 minutes ago.

What would they call themselves? And then it came to them…well Mike. “How about ‘Jenny’s Sis’?” Who the fuck was Jenny and more importantly, who was her sister???, Peter and Tony wanted to know.

“No, fuck you, we will be Genesis,” Tony told Mike. Mike says to this day he will never forgive Tony for that.

A few years passed and our original trio was left without a guitarist or a drummer…one of the dudes left to be a farmer, the other was like “ooh, not about that stage fright life”….so now what? I’ll tell you WHAT, here’s where the big guns come in.

A local comedian and Alamo-head, Phil Collins, auditioned to be the new drummer while the mysterious and aloof wolf breeder, Steve Hackett took to the guitar. Here they were, the core 5, baby.

With this new lineup, the band felt they could do anything. Then one day, Peter Gabriel suggested “Hey, guys, let’s invent progressive rock!” This was met with a resounding “HELL YEAH BABY” But, this “hell yeah, baby” came with a price the band would never recover from.

First came, with the Collins-Hackett addition, an album of nursery rhymes…the only person who bought this album was Peter’s mom, but even she thought it was garbage. Next was an album that reached out to the small and growing Furry audience the band was gathering, with most songs written by Steve Hackett. The band saw it as a strong point. “I thank the furries everyday,” Phil Collins said in a 2009 interview, “They saved Genesis. Without the furries, there would be no Genesis.” It’s true, the band was doing well…until 1973 when “We’re Selling This Album For A Pound, Please Buy It” came out. Peter started dressing up in outlandish costumes on stage—once he dressed up as Richard Nixon, another time he came out as Meathead from “All in the Family”-- and incorporated CRAAAZY VISUALS into the act but this came at a cost the band barely recovered from. During a performance of “Son, Your Fuckin Bagel Bites are Ready”, Peter was hoisted up into the air….he never came back down…no one knows just what happened to him.

“Haha, it sucked,” said Mike in an interview 20 minutes after the event happened.

The following week’s Melody Maker spelled it out, plain as day…Frank Sinatra had returned. The group felt as if they had met their match.

Without a lead singer and with Sinatra back on the rise, Genesis felt hopeless, until the comedian turned drummer, Phil Collins, stepped up to the plate. He had never sang before but everyone was just like, whatever, it will do. …I guess.

“I regret that decision,” Tony Banks said in a 2009 interview.

The band obviously needed to attract a larger audience to stay alive. Then, one day, in 1976, Phil said, out of the blue “I know about this fetish where…people get off on like giants and stuff…that could get the kids interested,” They released this video, and reviews were mixed. Steve, Mike, and Tony were not the giants the kids were looking for.

Then, a few years later, Steve left the band without warning. The band was shocked…they soon learned he went out to live with the wolves, whatever that meant. This is the last known photo of him…

Steve was with the wolves, Peter was lost for good it seemed. Now what? Genesis ended the 70s with one big hit “Follow You, Follow Me (My Name’s Mike, I Smoke Weed)”…could they top that off???? Mike didn’t think so, and tensions started to arise. “Enough with the weed jokes”, Tony told Mike, and Phil agreed. Tony talked to Mike about his marijuana habits…it went something like this….

Mike responded with, “Haha man, I don’t have a dog” (I think I was gonna somehow edit Mike’s head on the guy smoking weed lol)

The 80s started out rough for Genesis…the group was living in squalor, they lived inside an abandoned warehouse, trying their best to survive.

Then, one day, Mike decided that he needed time away from the band….so he became a mechanic for awhile. Rutherford’s Auto Body is sponsoring this video, by the way….5% off every tenth oil change.

Tony considered returning to the music project from his teens, “Makin Banknotes”. Phil visited the Alamo for spiritual enlightenment. And that’s where it hit him: Genesis would join Jeff Dunham on tour.

- Appearance Short and really thin (my mom said i need to put on more weight but i think i am really fat lol). 153.5 cm, i wear glasses cause i can’t see without my harry potter glasses, long arms and legs but short/small body proportions. uhh i have thigh gaps and look a LOT like a nerd. born with a tan skin (like my dad💓), my eyes actually kinda big but bcs i always sleep late since i was a kid, panda eyes are one of me now, making my eyes look small and tired 24/7 of times. I have a resting bitch face so it makes me looks angry or upset most of the time ouo (if you guys see me in real life, you’ll hate me -seriously). my nose is kinda small??? I am plain; my friends said i’m like a piece of wood bcs “thin and have no ups nor the jibooty”. i have slightly thick lips and a small face :)

- Personality i love to make things over dramatic (cAPS ALL OVER THE PLACE), when i involved in a fight or someone makes me angry, i always forgive them (and all people i know) before i go to sleep every day. my expressions scream my emotions ouo i do get annoyed easily, i love dramas (yall see me reblogging dramas in the ji.k tag so 🤷‍♀️ ), when i was 12 i got a nickname ‘Princess Joker’ (we never knew a Harley Quinn) because i’m ‘funny’... but i’m not that funny now ouo NEXT i am really awkward, if you chat with me on tumblr... we will stop talking like in a month bcs i’m not good at making or keeping up with conversations (i am so sorry for everyone in my dm ;; thank you for taking your time to talk with me but in the end i just fckd it up and... we just don’t talk anymore :/ ) okay, but on a serious note, if you ever hit me up in the dm, i can chat for 2-3 days but to keep it for weeks? nope, sorry (i dont even chat with my best friends 🤷‍♀️ ) lastly, i think about someone actions when they did something bad(?) bcs i was once depressed, so i think i started to think any possible reasons if someone does bad things to other people just because i did bad things when my mind once messed up too

- Ability i have basic korean (still trying to learn so i can talk and understand more of the words but i can have a decent conversation👀) i can rap, sing (but a more average) and really love to dance. my studies are okay despite being a lazy ass and fangirling 24/7 a day (my mom said bcs i got my dad’s DNA eue that’s why i’m slightly smart but i don’t think i’m that smart like my classmates). I have basic editing skills; photos (real basic) and videos (this is decent meh) oh i know how to gifs too ^^ i can do arts that involve colors because i can’t draw well, but if i put my heart into it i can do some decent drawings.... i think... my mom said i’m an all-rounder (or in armys dictionary: Golden) except for any science related things (i still dont know why i am a pure science student wth) If i saw juniors that has any bts related merchandises, ill go straight up to them and shamelessly go “YO WHO’S YOUR BIAS?” 😂😂😂 i can counsel people apparently (it doesn’t look like it... but i can.. weirdly o.o) sometimes my prediction come true (sometimes ok) that is all i guess... idk anymore aaaaa i have 0 ability jahsgfdakshbcadjs oh wait- i can fangirl, and very good at it eue

- Relationships For now, married to my finals. if my results next year is the worse than my two big exams; we are getting a divorce on that very day

- Experiences uhh sometimes i have panic attacks because i tend to overthink things(?)

- My Life All are great now💜 i’m happy even though there are some holes here and there, but i’m okay :)

- Random Things I had written fanfictions... but i’m not writing anymore. I’d done a graduation video on behalf of the school (aka the principal) for my batch for our graduation day and many of em’ got emotional esp me :’) i am really close with my brother but we don’t really look the same, so many people mistook us as a couple if we go out. I always number 5 in class during my exams. While writing this, i am actually watching Masterchef USA S3 because i just found out about Christine. The Librarians are the reason I continue being a librarian in my school. My first non-kpop group that i love genuinely is Fifth Harmony (since Worth It), now i still in love with my Camila; she’s a great artist, check her out💜 I don't use make up but i enjoy watching make up videos, km moments make me cry every single time, i really love Jeongguk; okbyeeee

Like my Innisfree compact, I got this product from Amazon; however, Etude House does sell it on their website here. I’ve also discovered that they have a whole line of the Sunprise line, but I’ve never tried any of the other products.

What it promises:

“A non-sticky & no turbidy UV milk that provides long-lasting UV protection with 100% mineral based mild ingredients for sensitive skin.”

After it has been rubbed in and absorbed:

As you can see, it barely leaves a shine and absorbs right into the skin. It has a very soft finish and not greasy at all.

Price: 7.5 (CAD) and 9 (US) /10

This product is $13.20 USD (shipping depends on your location) on the Etude House site, $11.46 USD (+free shipping on orders over $25) on the USA Amazon, and $12.42 CAD on the Canadian Amazon (+$9.30 shipping). It would be much more worth it to buy it if you live in the USA, as shipping can be pretty expensive if you live in Canada :(

Quality: 10/10

I was very impressed with the quality of this product. Prior to this product, I used a sunscreen from Clinique. I used to hate wearing sunscreen too, as it was greasy, sticky, and just overall very uncomfortable; however, this product sinks right into the skin and leaves it feeling soft instead of greasy. It can be sticky/greasy at first, but as you rub it in and let it absorb for a few minutes, the greasiness and stickiness go away! I’ve also started using sunscreen everyday in my morning skincare routine, and my face looks brighter. This does not break me out, as I’ve been using it for about a month to a month and a half now.

Packaging and convenience: 10/10

It’s just really cute LOL and the tip of the sunscreen makes it very easy to use! It’s also very small and convenient to carry around in your makeup bag. I do wish, however, that the product was a bit bigger. I wear sunscreen everyday to protect my skin, and I think I’ve already used a lot of it :(

Overall: 10/10

I definitely recommend you to try this product. It’s small and convenient to carry around, it does what it’s supposed to do (protect your skin from the sun LOL), and it does not feel sticky or greasy.

Iori: As expected of Nii-san. Nii-san’s characteristic and word choice gave it more impact.

Mitsuki: Everyone, thank you…!! It’s embarrassing so let’s begin the next corner, “Talk About Your Memories in that City!”

All: Let’s talk about it~!

Matsuki: Ok. Then Tamaki, please explain this part of the program!

Tamaki: Ooh. We talk about our time in the city we’re currently visiting. That’s all.

Mitsuki: Thanks! That’s short and easy to understand! Riku, do you have any?

Riku: We played table tennis in the inn. It was fun! I was surprised that Nagi was so good at it! He was like, “Take that..!”

Iori: That’s true, it was really surprising.He has such a gap between his appearance and his personality.

Tamaki: Nagicchi’s smashes were so amazing.

Mitsuki: I thought if it was table tennis, I would definitely win against Nagi. I underestimated him…

Nagi: Mitsuki, please don’t feel down. I am just outstanding, that’s all.

Yamato: You don’t have any intention to apologize at all, do you.

Nagi: Is there something wrong?

Mitsuki: Ahaha! There’s nothing wrong, Nagi is just confident. Keep it up!

Iori: No, it’s nothing. Yotsuba-san, do you have any memories of Hiroshima?

Tamaki: Yeah. The Okonomiyaki was super delicious. I want to eat it again.

Riku: It really was! It was exciting eating at a popular restaurant known for its okonomiyaki!

Nagi: Riku was super excited there.

Tamaki: Level 50 Spicy man ate more spicy food though.

Mitsuki: He did!

Iori: He ordered without hesitation, didn’t he.

Tamaki: Yama-san even said, “I won’t be deceived by Sou’s smile ever again”

Yamato: I did say that.

Sougo: I, I am so sorry…

Mitsuki: Ahaha! Don’t apologize, these will all be fun memories!

Tamaki: It’s so spicy that I almost shed tears just sitting next to Sou-chan.

Riku: Wow! It’s THAT spicy!?

Iori: Nanase-san, please don’t try it.

Riku: I know that already…!

Tamaki: I’ve started calling this case as the “Spicy Sougo Bomb”

Nagi: So it’s SSB…

Riku: It sounds strong…!

Sougo: It’s embarrassing……

Mitsuki: Hey hey, youngsters, your conversations are cute as always but, it’s time for Hiroshima’s detailed announcements!

All: Oohh~!

Mitsuki: IDOLISH7’s tour across the country, “Visual Board Tour 2017” will take place at Hiroshima starting today, on February 13th. There will be a soft-atmosphere themed poster, CM, and merchandise there, so please check it out!

Sougo: There’s also Mitsuki-san’s message on billboard in Hiroshima Station, right?

Mitsuki: That’s right. It’s a bit embarrassing…!

Riku: February 13th is also a day before Yamato-san’s birthday!

Sougo: It is.

(5) In this conversation, Tamaki was trying to tell Sougo that he doesn’t need to change who he is, and not having as much confidence is fine. He literally said “Don’t add more skill,” which comes across even more confusing due to his lack of explanations

OOC WEEK: Day Three

RAPID FIRE

Tea or coffee? Coffee. I seriously need a cup of coffee every morning or else my day is just bound to go to complete shit. I do like a good cup of tea, but coffee is my lover

Stars or planets? Stars

Sun or moon? Moon

Black or white? Black. Half my wardrobe is black lol I own like three pieces of clothing that are not in the grey scale

The zoo or the aquarium? The zoo. The only times I like aquariums are when they have really exotic stuff. Every aquarium I’ve been in where they’re claimed to have a shark, it’s been these tiny ones and I always get disappointed

Drama or comedy? Drama. There are very few comedies that I actually like, the typical “super funny” comedy movies just make me roll my eyes tbh. I do like some comedy TV shows, but I love a good drama more often than not

Thriller or adventure? Oh, difficult... I love fantasy which I guess kind of falls under the genre adventure. But I love a good thriller too

Short walks to the fridge or long walks on the beach? Hah, fridge. The beach means sand, and I don’t like sand in my shoes or between my toes

Indoors or outdoors? Indoors

Animals or plants? Animals

Time alone or time with others? Depends on the day, really. Some days I just really want to be alone, and other days I have to be around people. I prefer to be alone though

Introvert or extrovert? I’m introverted, but not dramatically so, just... I’m shy

Silence or music? Music

Darkness or light? Light

Cats or dogs? Dogs

Dancing or being the wallflower? Wallflower. I’m not a good dancer, first off, I feel more comfortable not being in the middle of a crowd

Right or left? Right, just because I’m right handed and I found out last night while watching a video on facebook that even my right eye is my dominant eye

Werewolves or vampires? Really neither? I’m soooo over vampires, so I guess I dislike werewolves less than I do vampires

Dressing stylishly or dressing comfortably? Comfortably. Even wearing jeans makes me uncomfortable

Sunrise or sunset? Sunset, I’m never awake early enough to see a sunrise haha

Lead or follow? I would say follow, except I tend to lead in situations were you can do either/or

Optimist or pessimist? Pessimist for sure

Staying up late or waking up early? Staying up late

Speaking up or staying silent? In my head, I always say that I would speak up, but when it comes down to it, I usually stay silent, unless I get enraged, then I’ll speak up

White lies or brutal honesty? Brutal honesty, to be honest

Ask for permission before doing the stupid thing or ask for forgiveness after doing the stupid thing? Asking for permission is what I do lol

LONG FORM

Pet peeves: When people start something, and don’t do the last few steps to finish it (a girl at work always starts a task and then doesn’t finish it and it annoys me so much), people interrupting me, people who places things wrong (it messes with my OCD)

Bad habits: I have this intense need to be able to get air between my front teeth, so I’ll put my nail between them and make this inhaling sound to make sure I can get air through them (safe to say I have tooth floss in my purse). I pick and chew at the skin around my fingernails

Favourite scents (your amortentia!): Lavender, vanilla, coffee

Favourite animal: CORGI!!

Favourite colour: Navy blue, or like a greenish dark blue colour

Favourite place to go (local or otherwise) (photos get bonus points): I actually really enjoy going to Ikea, also there is a restaurant in town that make the best Chicken BLT and it’s all homey and lovely, I love it, it’s named Egon

Favourite meme: Oh, the Sam Tarley (from GoT) memes, they always make me laugh. Like this one

Do you have any creative or artistic abilities? I used to spend a LOT of time creating graphics, edits and gifs in Photoshop, I guess that’s pretty artistic? I haven’t created anything big in a very long time, but if you wanna check things out, here’s a link to my creations that I’ve posted on tumblr

Talk about something that made you happy today, yesterday, this week: I helped a customer yesterday, she wanted some good books to read, and she wanted fantasy books in English, so I showed her all my favourite series and she ended up buying like 20 books, almost emptying our shelves completely lol. And when she left with 5 bags of books, she thanked me so much for all my help and it made me feel really good about myself

Talk about an experience that made you feel proud or confident: Kind of the same as above. I felt really confident at my skills in my job, which felt great! Also, I went to see my sister and my 1 month old nephew yesterday and I feel soooo proud to be an aunt to such a beautiful little boy

Talk about something/someone that makes you feel relaxed: Reading relaxes me a whole lot. There is nothing better than escaping real life by going into a different world entirely. Also knitting, knitting relaxes me a bunch

Talk about something you’re yet to try for the first time but want to: Having a real relationship. I’ve never had a boyfriend or a girlfriend, but I’d like to see how that would be

Who are your role models and why: Emma Watson is a great role model, her work for gender equality is REALLY important and I think she’s doing a great job of it.

Talk about something you want to do this year: I want to travel to somewhere I haven’t been before. I really want to travel to Australia or America, so that is definitely on my list of things I want to do this year
