So Goldie’s been living rent-free in my head for a while.
Tumblr media
Personally I blame the movie Forrest Gump. I got on this kick of watching first-time reactions to Forrest Gump on YouTube (and by the way, did you know you can tell a lot about a person’s heart by their first reaction to Jenny?). Some of the comments on those videos were very inciteful, too.
Anyway, I’ve noticed some similarities between Jenny and Goldie’s behavior and now I’ve constructed this whole tragic backstory for her that I don’t wanna go into too much detail about here since this is supposed to be a safe blog as relatively trigger-free as possible (speaking of, I think I’ll put a seizure trigger warning on this because of one of the gifs), but anyway I’m pretty convinced Goldie was abused as a child, which would explain...
1. Her fear of vulnerability
Tumblr media
(Sorry, this gif doesn’t have subtitles.) There are times when Goldie starts to let her guard down with Scrooge, just a little, and then she immediately puts her walls back up. Moonstoneflowers brought this up to Frank a few years ago.
Tumblr media
2. Her preference to be in the lead
Tumblr media
Goldie grew up in a time when men were in charge of everything. If a man close to her had abused that power, of course she’d be uncomfortable letting a man lead anything, even dances, and she’d prefer a brand of chivalry that let her be in control.
3. Her avoidance of domestic life
Tumblr media
Settling down would mean entrusting her life to a man. Divorce laws were stricter way back when, and women often relied on their husbands for financial security. The idea of being financially dependent and legally bound to someone for life who could wind up mistreating her the way someone else had would be terrifying to her.
4. Leaving before she can be left
Tumblr media
Someone made a comment on YouTube about Jenny and how staying in one place for too long would force her to ruminate on her traumatic past, so she was always running from it. I can see this applying to Goldie. She also probably feels like she’s not good enough for Scrooge, and would rather leave before he can reject her and that door gets closed forever. I can also imagine her leaving asap so she doesn’t get caught, but more on her con artist side in a minute.
5. Betraying before she can be betrayed
Tumblr media
Sometimes it feels easier for victims of abuse to keep people at a distance, and as much as Goldie seems to crave closeness, it also scares the crud out of her. Betraying isn’t only a means of financial gain to her, but a way of keeping people who start to care about her from following her, and a way to prevent being hurt again.
6. Occasional violent tendencies
Tumblr media
Sometimes victims of abuse try to regain a sense of lost power by being abusive to others. Other times, it’s just because that was the behavior that was modelled for them and they don’t know what healthy love is supposed to look like.
7. Becoming a con artist
Tumblr media
Single women didn’t have a ton of money-making opportunities in the Victorian era, and certainly very few that would appeal to her. I imagine she’d have run away from home at a young age, and had to start stealing to survive. She probably performed in saloons at some point (since she did in the old comics and I think that’d be a neat nod, like her performance in “The Outlaw Scrooge McDuck!”), but she’d have grown uneasy as drunken men would’ve catcalled her or tried to grab her. Frustrated that even earning an honest living left her vulnerable to sleazy men, she’d go into scamming and prospecting full-time.
And then she’d meet Scrooge.
Tumblr media
(^Favorite Scroldie screencap EVER)
I could go on and on about what likely drew them to each other... you know, besides being stuck in an iceberg and forced to stare at each other for five years... but I think what it came down to is they wanted the same thing at the time: gold. Neither of them felt any pressure to settle down from the other.
Now, Scrooge has more or less “settled down.” He still adventures, but he’s got a family that depends on him who mean more to him than anything. As for Goldie, I think after “The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades!” she’s realized Scrooge is more important to her than anything else she’s been after.
Tumblr media
It seems like after this episode, they were “back on,” so to speak, but in a long-distance relationship. That’s probably what’s most comfortable to her right now. But it was nice seeing her get to the point when she realized what she wanted was a fresh start and to be with Scrooge. I think that was a big step for her.

Compare/Contrast of Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws And Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Here I’ll be doing a compare/contrast between Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws and Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt. It occurred to me that those 2 duos have quite a bit in common but are also a bit different. Also, Spoiler Alert for the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie and the DuckTales (2017) TV series. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both members of both duos were in love with each other but they also had trust issues. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws were in love with each other but they had trust issues since Puss didn’t show up for his and Kitty’s wedding. And as shown in the episode ‘The Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains!’, Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt were in love with each other but they had trust issues since during all their previous encounters, Goldie would usually stab Scrooge in the back. Another similarity between them here is that both duos were able to overcome their distrust during an encounter that had something to do with prolonging a person’s life. For Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws, there was the encounter they had while searching for the Wishing Star which Puss wanted in order to restore his other 8 lives as also shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie where Puss eventually put his desire for the Wishing Star aside and even offered it to Kitty. And for Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt, there was the encounter they had while searching for the Fountain Of The Foreverglades which Scrooge and Goldie wanted in order to stay young as shown in the episode ‘The Forbidden Fountain Of The Foreverglades!’ where, after realizing that would mean taking other peoples’ youth away, Scrooge put his desire for it aside and Goldie later followed suit when she sacrifice the youth she gained from it to save Scrooge. The difference between them there, though, is whether one or both of them wanted to prolong their lives and how their desire for it could’ve effected their relationship. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, only Puss wanted the Wishing Star to prolong his lives and tried to use it for himself to do so which almost resulted in Kitty severing all ties with him since she figured that meant that Puss still loved himself more than he loved her. As shown in the episode ‘The Forbidden Fountain Of The Foreverglades!’, both Scrooge and Goldie wanted the Fountain Of The Foreverglades to stay young forever since, as Goldie said: “We spent our whole lives at each other’s throats, Scroogey. But what if we can do it over again knowing everything we know now, avoiding the same mistakes. This is our chance at a fresh start.” So, in the case of Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws, one of them almost pushed the other away to prolong his life whereas, in the case of Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt, both of them at first wanted to prolong their lives to live with each other forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both duos have a member who really loves adventure. For Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws, there was Puss In Boots who, as shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, got really excited while he was fighting several guards and also a rampaging giant. And for Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt, there was Scrooge McDuck who, as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, got really excited while he was fighting to help get the Papyrus Of Binding. Another similarity between them there is that both Puss In Boots and Scrooge McDuck, for a time, quit adventuring after a traumatic event. As also shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Puss, for a time, quit adventuring after his ninth and last life was almost ended by Death themselves. And as shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, Scrooge, for a time, quit adventuring after, as shown in the episode ‘The Last Crash Of The Sunchaser!’, his niece Della Duck was lost in space. The difference between them there, though, is that Puss quit after he almost lost his last life whereas Scrooge quit after he lost a loved one. Another difference between them here is what got them back on their feet in the end. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Puss overcame his fear of death by facing off against Death themselves and learning to not take his life for granted. And as shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, Scrooge got back on his feet after his great nephews motivated him to go out adventuring again and also, as shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War Part 1: The Night Of De Spell!’, Scrooge later finally overcame the trauma from the loss of his niece after Lena made him realize just how amazing his family is and to not push them away. Another similarity between them there is that they both, along the way, learned to not push the people around them away. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Puss learned to not push the people around him like Kitty and Perrito away. And as I already pointed out, Scrooge learned to not push the people around him like his family away. The difference between them there is what this had to do with their adventures. As also shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Puss was so caught up with himself and his adventures that he didn’t show up for his and Kitty’s wedding. And as also shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War Part 1: The Night Of De Spell!’, Scrooge was so depressed in the aftermath of losing his family that he couldn’t take care of his home let alone go out adventuring. So, Puss was too caught up with his adventures to focus on the people around him whereas Scrooge was too caught up with losing his family to focus on his adventures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both duos had a member who is a very skilled thief. For Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws, there’s Kitty Softpaws who, as shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, snuck into Big Jack Horner’s factory and was able to swipe the map to the Wishing Star from Puss In Boots in the middle of a fight. And for Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt, there’s Goldie O’Gilt who, as shown in the episode ‘The Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains!’, outwitted Scrooge McDuck and Flintheart Glomgold and took the liquid gold from the Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains. Another similarity between them is that they both had problems that had something to do with trustworthiness. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Kitty had a lot of trouble trusting others which is why she wanted to make a wish with the Wishing Star to finally have someone she can trust. And as shown in the episode ‘The Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains!’, Scrooge had a lot of trouble trusting Goldie due to her constantly stabbing him in the back. The difference between them there, though, is that Kitty had trouble trusting other people whereas Goldie had trouble being trusted by other people. Another similarity between Kitty and Goldie is that they both also crossed paths with a young kid who they formed a bond with and took under their wing despite their problems with trustworthiness. For Kitty Softpaws, there was Perrito as shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie where Kitty eventually befriended Perrito despite her being initially skeptical about his trustworthiness. And for Goldie O’Gilt, there was Louie Duck as shown in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Doofus Drake!’ where Goldie put herself at risk to save Louie despite initially stabbing him in the back and also where Louie, in turn, saved her despite his own doubts about her motives. The difference between them there is that Kitty looked past her trust issues to befriend Perrito whereas Goldie looked past her selfishness to save Louie which caused Louie to look past his distrust to save her in turn. Also, another similarity between them there is that they both taught them how to con and trick others. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Kitty helped teach Perrito how to do cute puppy dog eyes just like how her and Puss do their cute cat eyes. And, as shown in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Doofus Drake!’, Goldie helped teach Louie how to expose other peoples’ cons in order to gain another person’s trust. The difference between them there, though, is what Perrito and Louie used those skills for. As also shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Perrito used those skills to distract Jack Horner since he just wanted to help Puss and Kitty whereas, as also shown in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Doofus Drake!’, Louie used those skills to try to get Doofus Drake’s gift bags along with Goldie since he wanted to get rich quick. I’ll be going over Perrito and Louie more in my next point. Speaking of which…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both members of both duos had an encounter with a young kid who they practically took in and who accompanied and helped them on their adventures. For Puss In Boots and Kitty Softpaws, there’s Perrito who, as shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, helped Puss and Kitty find the Wishing Star and the 3 of them formed a team called Team Friendship. And for Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt, there’s Louie Duck who, as shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, Scrooge took in and who started accompanying Scrooge along with the rest of his family on adventures and also who, as shown in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Doofus Drake!’ and as I already pointed out in my previous point, Goldie took under her wing and formed a bond with. The difference between them here is what kind of outlooks Perrito and Louie generally had. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Perrito had a pretty optimistic outlook and he was also a bit oblivious even during some dire situations whereas, as shown in the episode ‘The Most Dangerous Game…Night!’, Louie had a pretty pessimistic outlook and he was also pretty smart to the point that he was able to “see all the angles” in a situation. Another similarity between them is that, in the case of both duos, Perrito and Louie respectively helped them look past their differences and work together in some way shape or form. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish, Perrito counseled Puss about what happened between him and Kitty which caused to see how selfish and cowardly he was for not showing up for his and Kitty’s wedding. And, as shown in the episode ‘The Forbidden Fountain Of The Foreverglades!’, seeing Louie trapped helped get Goldie to turn around and help Scrooge when she could’ve just escaped with the youth water. The difference between them here is that Perrito helped Puss and Kitty knowingly whereas Louie helped Scrooge and Goldie inadvertently. Another similarity between them is that both Perrito and Louie helped Puss and Scrooge respectively become more humble. As shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Perrito’s friendship and aforementioned counseling with Puss helped Puss realize that despite his legendary status as a brave hero, he was actually a coward for not showing up for his and Kitty’s wedding since he was afraid of what committing to someone might mean for his status as a legend. And as shown in the episode ‘The Richest Duck In The World!’, when Louie got the Bombie to stop attacking by learning to be humble, it helped Scrooge be more humble too since he then lifted the Bombie’s curse off himself. The difference between them there is that Perrito helped teach Puss the lesson about humility whereas Louie and Scrooge both learned the lesson about humility together. Also, one more difference between them is that, as shown in the Puss In Boots The Last Wish movie, Perrito is perfectly content with his life just the way it is which is why he didn’t have a wish he wanted to make with the Wishing Star whereas, as shown in the episode ‘Storkules In Duckburg!’, Louie wasn’t completely content with his life which is why he wanted to become rich.
Well, that’s all for this post.
See you all next time.

DT timeline from fowl (theory/headcanon)
In the early 60's Bradford was still young with a full head of hair, met and teamed up with black heron, making f.o.w.l…
Some time a little later in the mid 60's Heron tried to get the formula for gummi-berry juice, meanwhile Scrooge just joined s.h.u.s.h. as a new philanthropist, he and Beakley beat Heron, and Bradford must have just found out his partner in crime just got defeated by those two.
Scrooge's big Christmas party probably happened in the late 70's that would be a whole new decade later for him to age into the state we see him at the Christmas party where he and Scrooge apparently first met face to face.
Ludwig Van Drake got kidnapped by f.o.w.l. sometime after the 70's or at least some time after the Christmas party. If they had the stone of what was at the time and didn't lose it yet. It would be very easy to fake someone's death by just leaving a lifeless clone of that person to be found. Before being kidnapped, he still trusted Bradford enough at the time for Bradford to easily lure him somewhere to capture him.
Later in the early 90's is when Donald and Della come to stay with Scrooge and "The First Adventure". After which Bradford becomes Scrooge's new CFO, and starts his 30 year plan to get the papyrus of binding back.
Then either that year or some other year after that Dewy time travels back to meet his mom and uncle as kids for Christmas.
Around 2006, Scrooge built the Spear of Selene and Bradford told Della about it, basically instigating the Spear of Selene fiasco.
Beakley attempted to shut down f.o.w.l. once and for all but finds a baby duckling who she named Webby and goes into hiding at McDuck manner. This is possibly also when f.o.w.l. lost the Stone of what was.
Possibly after that, Bradford causes Duckworth's death, either directly or indirectly.
August 12, 2017, the triplets meet their uncle Scrooge for the first time.(DuckTales 2017 officially started)
September 23, 2017, "The great dime chance!"
April 2018, "The Beast in the Board Room!"
July 7, 2018, Black Heron made a second attempt at recreating gummi-berry juice but was stopped by Webby.
August 11, 2018 "the last crash of the sunchaser!"
August 18, 2018, Magical DeSpell was released, The Shadow war happened. Then Magica lost her magic.
September 2018, "Countdown to Termination!"
December 24, 2018, "Last Christmas!" takes place.
May 13, 2019, Della returned to earth and reunited with (most) of her family.
September 9, 2019, Timephoon.
September 11, 2019, Louie became the richest duck in the world. Bradford tricked him into releasing the zombie bombie, where Louie ended up cutting the funding to McDuck's satellites before giving the wealth back to scrooge.
September 12, 2019, The Moonvasion happened. And after that ended f.o.w.l. came back "from the shadows".
April 4, 2020, the ducks found the lost journal of Isabella Finch. And f.o.w.l. was watching them.
April 4, 2020, "Quack Pack!" the ducks found the lamp of Alli Babah.
April 11, 2020, "Double-O-Duck in you only crash twice" the Intelli-ray was invented using the Third Eye Diamond.
April 18, 2020, The lost Harp of Mervana was found.
September 21, 2020, "The Phantom and the Sorceress", Magica got her magic back.
October 12, 2020, The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades was found by the ducks.
October 19, 2020, "Let's Get Dangerous!" Bradford got outed as the leader of f.o.w.l.
October 26, 2020, Bradford distracts the Ducks as f.o.w.l. steals all the missing mysteries that were found.
November 2, 2020, the split sword of Swanstantine was recovered by the ducks from f.o.w.l.
November 23, 2020, the blessed bagpipes of clan McDuck was recovered by the Ducks.
March 1, 2021, The Ducks recovered the stone of what was, but f.o.w.l. was able to get back a piece of it.
March 15, 2021, the events of "The Last Adventure" Happened happened. f.o.w.l. was defeated and Bradford got turned into a feral vulture by Magica.

For my very first poll I have decided to do something that requires more than 10 options/choices and because there can only be one poll per post there will be multiple posts that all have to do with the same poll. This poll will be about which DuckTales (2017) episode you consider to be the best in the entire series. So if the episode you consider the best isn’t on this particular poll, don’t worry because there will be multiple posts that may have the episode you’re looking for on there. All the episode polls will end around the exact same time. Even though there will multiple posts with a poll dealing with which DuckTales (2017) episode you consider to be the best, please treat this as a single poll and vote for one episode only. For example if the episode you’re looking for is here and you voted for it on this poll, please don’t go to the other posts to vote for an episode that’s on that poll. Have fun! 😊 ❤️ 🦆

running in circles
chapter forty-six: could i wash my hands of just looking out for me? summary: Goldie and Scrooge take a dip. warnings: references to sex, nothing explicit wordcount: 4505 playlist (will be updated as chapters are posted): shorturl.at/bfBCQ ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/33776632/chapters/103035948 site link: https://sites.google.com/view/running-in-circles/chapters/chapter46
here’s chapter forty-six!! text will also be included in this post for those of you that don’t use ao3:
2019; Florida:
Goldie wouldn’t have been aware of Spring Break if not for Dickie. She didn’t really pay attention to what teenagers did, and since she didn't have a formal education of her own, never had breaks like that. Her Blackjack Hotels weren’t exactly known for being popular spots for young people to hang out, either.
It was just a little before Spring Break in the year 2019 when Goldie caught wind of Scrooge McDuck’s recent activities. It was pretty easy to learn these things when she had a spy inside the man’s walls.
(That wasn’t quite fair. Sharpie wasn’t spying for her, he just liked to give her updates on occasion. Goldie felt an uncomfortable warmth in her chest every time she got a new message from him.)
They didn’t text each other too often, but their initial conversation after the alien invasion established a new kind of relationship that neither had had before. Goldie felt drawn to the little Duck - he reminded her of herself and Scrooge and Donald and Della - all wrapped up into one green hoodie. And she provided him with realistic support for his schemes and ideas. Goldie wasn’t afraid to tell him when he was doing something stupid, and also wasn’t afraid to tell him how to fix it.
After a bit of her coaching, Louie tried one big scheme without her help. Goldie didn’t have time to come down to Duckburg and watch how it went, but she heard about it on the news. It sounded like she should've been there to help, especially when the professional assassins showed up. In retrospect, she probably should’ve looked over his plans before letting him go out on his own. But that was that.
She was just surprised at how much they enjoyed talking to each other.
Goldie couldn’t help but notice that her text history with Sharpie was already longer than her text history with Scrooge. Mostly because Scrooge barely knew how to text. But it stood out to her in a way that made her frown. She was learning more about Scrooge’s life as a family man through Louie than she ever did from the man himself. It was…interesting, to say the least.
In mid-March when Louie started complaining about all the fancy old specific treasures they were going after from some Woodchuck Lady’s diary, Goldie couldn’t help her curiosity. Louie told her about some of the artifacts they’d be going after in the coming months, and Goldie tried to figure out what they had to do with each other.
She wasn’t even familiar with the Stone of What Was, and only vaguely recognized the Sword of Swanstantine. And what they had to do with the Fountain of the Foreverglades and the Lost Mervanan Harp…she had absolutely no clue.
But she did know the general area that the Foreverglades Fountain was rumored to be. If Scrooge was planning to go down to Florida over Spring Break to search for the Fountain while all the teens distracted everyone else…she’d just have to be down there, too.
It was during a scheme-planning phase that Goldie was able to learn from Sharpie exactly when they’d be arriving in Florida. She made her plans accordingly and packed some of her favorite lingerie - when it came to Scrooge, she never knew exactly how the adventure would go. But she always knew how to throw him off balance, that was for sure.
The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades! - 0:00 - 1:43
The kid with the hat - Huey, she was pretty sure - was very easy to steal from.
He kept everything under that hat. Goldie wondered if he got the idea from his dear old Uncle Scrooge. Maybe his uncle could consider looking for better hiding places, since there was already one thief who knew everything he hid in there.
But either way, she had plenty of opportunity to grab the little book that the Duck family had been obsessing over. She zipped away from the lot of them and took a seat by the pool, knowing she probably only had a few minutes to skim before Scrooge or one of the kids spotted her.
The book was interesting. Isabella Finch’s long lost journal full of all the treasures she’d never found. That certainly explained what they’d all been doing over the past few months.
She flipped through it to see what information the book had about the fountain of youth that was supposedly nearby. There wasn’t much, just some general directions. Goldie flipped through the pages to see if Isabella described why she struggled to find it, but there wasn’t any explanation. If it was simply a fountain in the forest, why couldn’t she find it? Isabella Finch had found much better hidden treasures in her time.
She shrugged. Maybe Isabella had been getting old. Made some little mistakes. Maybe she’d had her own family and they distracted her. Maybe she’d fallen in love and didn’t have the passion for adventuring she once did.
There were a lot of possibilities. But either way, Goldie wanted that fountain. She hadn’t used any youth water since Duckworth’s death and her age was starting to catch up to her again. Her knees were really giving her trouble these days.
Goldie got up and grabbed a drink from the bar, watching all the teenagers splashing around. Dickie was probably doing something just like this on some beach in Calisota. Or maybe not. Goldie sent her so much money, but didn’t always ask what the kid did with it. Hopefully she didn’t spend it all on video games.
As she was trying to enjoy her drink, some of the teenagers got a little rowdy around the pool. Despite the time she’d spent with Dickie, Goldie still hated when kids got all loud and acted like they owned the place. If they acted like this in one of her hotels, she’d have them all thrown out.
“Knock it off, ya pool-floatin’ show-boaters!”
Goldie turned to see the familiar whiskers of Scrooge McDuck, surprised that he had already found her. She thought she’d have more time to relax. Oh, well. She was aching to have some fun with him after so long, so who was she to complain?
“...fancy meeting me here.”
The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades! - 2:52 - 10:55
Goldie felt weird.
Well, more than that…she was feeling very turned on. Hornier than she’d felt in a very long time. This stupid cursed teenage body she was in had its benefits, but that was definitely not one of them. She felt like her nerves were on fire thanks to the way Scrooge pulled her body against his own.
Genuinely, she was angry at him for being so sexy. And how dumb was that? He caught her, he flirted, they almost kissed in front of one of his kids.
It was nice. It was fun! They were having fun.
And this was what she’d been wanting, wasn’t it? She’d been thinking about how much she wanted a do-over. A restart on her life. When she’d used fountains of youth in the past, it was always just a few years off the top. A decade or two. Never sending her back to her teen years.
Being a teenager with Scrooge was something she’d never even bothered to imagine. But it did make her feel like…like they could have a real, normal relationship. They could start over and just be two people that like to spend time together. They’d forget about their past and re-introduce themselves and go on normal dates and she’d get introduced to his family like it was something brand new and they’d fall in love and it’d be…nice.
As they walked through the woods, Goldie ran her fingers through her hair, flipping it over her shoulder. She caught Scrooge staring at her like she was the most beautiful person he’d ever seen, and her heart jumped as she turned away from him again.
She wanted him badly. But more than that…she wanted to hold his hand and tell him she loved him.
(She would not be doing that.)
Goldie watched as little Webbigail Vanderquack went off on some rant about age and youth and got distracted thinking about how much she wanted to run off with Scrooge and be young and get married and live happily ever after.
Was Goldie this stupid and romantic as a teenager the first time or was she just going insane? She wasn’t sure. But as Scrooge spoke to the little girl, she couldn’t fight the urge any longer. She wanted to run off with him and have fun and be crazy and young and in love or whatever. She wanted to do dumb teenage romantic things and she couldn’t help herself anymore! She didn't care that he might reject her, she just had to try.
The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades! - 11:16 - 18:31
Goldie squeezed the doorknob and sighed. She wanted to leave. She wanted to take the water and go, forget about Scrooge and his family and start a new life now that she was young again. But…
…but Sharpie.
Could she justify stealing youth from innocent people? With Scrooge, she’d shrug and laugh and say she was bad and that was that. But with Louie…she didn’t want to be that kind of bad. She didn’t want to hurt people or hurt him. He was just a kid. And he looked up to her. And…she wanted to be better. She needed to be better.
She closed her eyes and shut the door, walking towards the boys.
“What are you doing?” Huey asked as he and Louie stared up at her.
“What’s going on?” Dewey muttered from behind his brothers, wiggling his legs and arms around as best as he could.
“Saving your butts. And Scrooge’s, in a minute.”
Louie squinted at the young blonde while she reached for the inner tube, and watched in surprise as she picked it up almost effortlessly. This was no ordinary teenager. “Wait a sec…”
She ignored him and moved towards the door.
“Aunt Goldie?!”
Huey and Dewey made noises of surprise and tried their best to get a good look at her.
“Yeah, Sharpie. It’s me.”
“Aunt Goldie as in…Goldie O’Gilt?” Huey questioned.
“What’re you doing here?!” Dewey shouted.
“Like I said, boys. I’m saving you and your uncle. So try sounding a little grateful, why don’t you?”
Before the boys could even open their mouths again, Goldie was back in the pool area and watching Scrooge struggle badly in his fight against De Leon and Rockerduck (well, against Jeeves). She knew he was tough and could handle the fight, but…she was here. She was capable of helping. There was no reason for her to leave.
She was going to help him and that was that.
“Hey! Pick on someone your own age!”
—
The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades! - 18:45 - 22:00
She couldn't help herself, especially after he looked at her like that.
Scrooge was never big on PDA. She'd known that from the beginning of their relationship. And he didn't talk about her or their relationship much with his family, that was clear. So when he finally - finally! - kissed her back, with a gentle stroke of his hand along the side of her cheek…
Goldie felt elated. She was ecstatic. Excited, even. She never wanted to stop kissing him.
But there were kids around and she didn't need to traumatize them. So she broke it off with a distracting yell to get all the teens back to their loud partying like they were doing before. They were acting like they hadn’t just had all their youth stolen and then given back. Maybe they just thought they’d had a bad trip.
Scrooge looked at her with a bit of confusion and embarrassment as she righted him back up, patted his chest and smiled sweetly.
"This has been a fun day, sourdough."
He smirked, some pink still visible on his cheeks. "It doesnae have to end here, ye know."
Unable to stop herself, Goldie blushed again. He was really saying all the right things today, wasn't he? Her heart fluttered and she leaned closer, inching her beak towards his again. "I suppose I did pay for the night, might as well stay…"
Scrooge dodged her beak and gave her a swift kiss on the cheek instead, enjoying the surprised look on her face. "It only makes sense."
They stared at each other for a bit and smiled - suddenly feeling like they were still the awkward teenagers they'd been an hour earlier.
Both of the old-timers danced between staring at each other and staring off into the distance, clearly wanting to talk about something but not wanting to ruin the mood. Scrooge, as he'd been known to do, was the first to give in.
"Thank ye for comin' back for me, Goldie," he said happily. "And for savin' the boys."
"Well I couldn't just leave them there." Goldie shrugged, not wanting to tell him how close she’d gotten to leaving him behind.
She’d really struggled with his initial rejection. As she often did, Goldie took it in the most offensive way possible and saw his rejection of youth as a rejection of her and of any possible future between them. It made her want to run away and not see him again for years.
But then she saw Louie. And she remembered how it felt to leave him behind the first time. And she remembered how it felt to care about someone so innocent and fragile and scared. She knew why Scrooge would never prioritize her over his family. And looking at that scared little kid's face…she didn't want him to. She didn't want to come between them. She wanted to stay and help, whether Scrooge wanted her to or not.
"What made ye turn around?" Scrooge asked genuinely, reaching out for her hand.
"Ugh, can you two stop with the old people romance? It's getting gross!"
Scrooge and Goldie turned their heads to find Louie Duck standing in front of them, arms crossed over his chest. Dewey and Huey and Webby were behind him, all three sporting very different reactions to the scene they'd just witnessed.
Goldie couldn't stop herself from smiling at the agitated look on his little face. What could she say? She had a real soft spot for greedy, cheeky boys.
"Louie, don't be rude. Love is ageless!"
Dewey and Webby shrugged at each other behind the bickering brothers.
"It's good to see you again, Sharpie."
Louie rolled his eyes at her, but he had a smile on his face. "You too, Aunt Goldie."
Scrooge sputtered and coughed at the nickname - he hadn't heard any children call Goldie that in decades. The return of her 'aunt' moniker combined with the developments in their relationship made his heart feel like it was exploding in his chest. God, she really could be Aunt Goldie one day. It could really maybe happen, after one hundred and thirty years of back-and-forth…
"Aunt Goldie?" Dewey said suspiciously. "If you're our aunt, then you should know our birthday is coming up pretty soon and you'll owe us twelve years of presents!"
"Uh-huh."
"Dewey, stop. She and Uncle Scrooge aren't married, obviously we would know if they were," Huey said very confidently. "She's just our aunt in spirit."
Goldie rolled her eyes playfully and stood up straight to crack her back. "Alright, I think that's enough commentary from the kids today."
Scrooge looked happily embarrassed as he watched their interactions, like he never thought Goldie and his nephews would actually get along.
"What about me?" Webby spoke up, rubbing her sore eye.
"You've been giving us little comments all day." Goldie put her hand on her hip.
"You were with them?" Dewey said excitedly. "Did you get to see the fountain? What was it like?"
Webby shook her head. "Nah, they got all young and weird and left me so they could…kiss, I think? And find the fountain on their own."
"Gross."
"Left you?!" Huey sounded shocked. "That's terrible! Mrs. Beakley will be so disappointed in Uncle Scrooge."
Webby laughed. "We were in a little swamp less than a mile from here. If I couldn't handle that on my own, Granny would be super disappointed in me!"
The kids laughed together about the strange circumstances of their lives while Goldie and Scrooge stood nearby and eavesdropped.
"Sounds like Twenty-Two's gonna rip you a new one when you get home."
Scrooge shrugged. "She's angry with me half the time anyway."
Goldie perked up at that curiously. "Oh? Have you and your roommate been squabbling?"
He rolled his eyes. "Beakley just disapproves of me bringin' the children along on adventures. But she's the one who trained Webbigail to be a fightin' machine! I dinnae get the point if she's not to use her skills!"
"She's almost a teenager now, right? Seems like Beakley has to let the kid start to make her own decisions."
"Aye. But it's hard. She raised her from birth mostly by herself."
Goldie tilted her head. "What about you?"
"Me?"
"Weren't you there? You didn't help?"
Scrooge shrugged. "I dinnae know anythin' about takin' care of an infant! And I was busy stoppin' an uprisin' in another dimension, ye may remember."
Goldie couldn't explain why, but knowing that Scrooge wasn't really involved in raising that baby with Beakley was extremely comforting to her. It was just another in a long list of things she hadn’t known about Scrooge, but she was happy to learn it.
She scoffed internally, feeling stupid about her logic. She was happy because Scrooge never raised a child without her? What kind of nonsense was that? He certainly took care of preteens and teenagers without her, so what was the big difference? There wasn't one!
And yet…she couldn't deny how she felt.
"I remember, Scroogey, I remember." She leaned her arm against his. "Y'know…I've got a room all to myself here."
Scrooge blushed, knowing exactly what she meant by that. "I, um…the kids will be fine in the room I booked, I'm sure."
She smiled brightly. "Are you busy now?"
He blinked at her, but the memories of their alone time in the woods and the loving look on her face…he wanted to be with her. The kids could handle themselves now that the bad guy was dead, so…it couldn't hurt to try and have some more alone time.
"Before that…" Scrooge mumbled. "I want to see if I still have to pay for my room. I'm thinkin' attempted murder will get me a discount, at the very least!'
Goldie laughed as he walked towards the front desk where a scared teenager seemed to have recently returned from her break.
"Hey."
She turned around to see Louie in front of her again. "Hey."
"Thanks for saving us."
"Try not to sound so surprised," Goldie said with a bit of sass. "I'm not a monster."
"I know that," Louie muttered. "I didn't even know you were here 'til you grabbed us."
"This was supposed to be more of a get in and get out plan," she said with a shrug. "Then things got…complicated."
"Got too close, huh?"
Her eyes widened and Goldie felt a flutter in her heart. It was strange to hear a member of Scrooge's family quoting her so casually - and particularly quoting her in an attempt to mock her. Who did this kid think he was? One of the only three lights in her life?
(Yeah, well…)
"Ha HA!"
The two of them turned at the sound of Scrooge's boisterous laughter.
"99% discount!" Scrooge said excitedly. "And I got it for you too, dear."
Goldie smiled and grabbed his hand. "You're sweet."
"Ugh, this is getting gross again. Are you two gonna start being like this all the time?"
Goldie started to respond, but Scrooge grabbed her around the waist before she could and confidently said, "Maybe we will!"
Despite Sharpie's disgusted groans of protest, Goldie felt like that little gesture from Scrooge was something she'd wanted from him for eons. The feeling of being wanted and loved and wanting everyone to know about their love…in her younger years, she would've shrugged it off as meaningless. But now it meant everything to her.
She leaned closer to Scrooge and whispered into his ear - in Portuguese, for old times sake. "Let's get out of here."
He blushed and smiled at her, then looked down at Louie again. "Goldie and I have, um…private matters to discuss. Dinnae get into any trouble while we're gone!"
Louie watched as they rushed off towards the stairs, knowing full well what they were going to do but refusing to acknowledge it. He didn't have the spoons for that kind of disgusting gross icky icky blech nonsense.
What he did have energy for, though, was a little brown piece of leather laying on the ground nearby. Louie reached down and picked it up. "Oooh, free wallet.”
He opened it up and was surprised to see Goldie's ID card (that definitely was not her real birth date). Even more surprising were the photos of him and what looked like a young Uncle Scrooge right next to that.
Though he couldn't wait to make fun of Aunt Goldie for this, he was more interested in the gold credit card that was peeking out of the backside of her wallet.
"Hey guys!" Louie shouted to his fellow kids.
They looked up at him curiously.
He held the card up in the air. "Buy whatever you want! It's on Aunt Goldie!"

---
She was playing with the feathers on Scrooge’s chest while he was playing with the feathers on the back of her neck. It was relaxing. They both felt like they deserved this moment together, even if it wouldn't last forever.
"You should say goodbye before ye leave more often," Scrooge mumbled, trying to address the elephant in the room with a joke.
Lucky for him, she was in the perfect mood for that. Goldie chuckled against his chest and kept her eyes closed. She felt almost blissful. "Who knows? Maybe sometimes I'll just…stick around for a bit."
Scrooge blinked at her silently.
"... y'know, instead of saying goodbye."
Nervously, she was picking at his chest feathers while she spoke, but Scrooge didn't care. He had the biggest grin on his face and he painfully strained his back leaning over to kiss the top of her head.
Goldie was caught off-guard by that and looked up at him, not expecting to see such a smile. "Don't make me regret saying that."
"I would never," he said happily. "I love ye, Goldie. You should come around whenever you want."
She exhaled loudly through her nostrils and stared at him for a few seconds before launching herself up so she could kiss him again. How dare he say such adorably romantic things to her? Especially after the tryst they just had! She was vulnerable to his charms and he knew it.
They made out for another minute, both of them too tired from their earlier activities to go for another round. Goldie straddled his lap, though, comfortable on top of him.
"I'd…I'd like this to be a new step for us," Scrooge said nervously while he tried to keep eye contact.
Goldie was glad her face was still flushed from all that exercise because he was making her blush a lot. "Well…I…I'd like that, too."
"...yeah?"
She frowned. "Yes. Though I should point out that we've been here before, Scroogey. This isn’t the first time we’ve been…like this."
Scrooge shook his head and scooted himself into an upright position, pulling Goldie with him so she was still straddling him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and held her close. "No we have not. Not with my family in the picture."
Goldie brought her hands up to rest on his shoulders. "That's true. But-"
"No buts, Goldie! It's different. Ye know it is."
She didn't like being interrupted or corrected, but Goldie had to admit that he was right. Her feelings for Louie had a significant influence on her actions during this little adventure they were on. She was pretty sure that, if not for Sharpie, she'd have left with a jug of youth juice and never looked back.
(She might've looked back. Who could say? She’d felt pretty shitty in that moment.)
"...yeah. You're right."
Scrooge smiled at her. "I cannae believe ye just admitted to me bein' right! This really is a new step!"
Goldie rolled her eyes and kissed him again.
A new step. A new step was good. It wasn't a fresh start, but…maybe they didn't need a fresh start. The way Scrooge was acting with her now, the way Sharpie was talking to her earlier…she could live with it.
A fresh start would change everything. And yeah, she had plenty of regrets. But if this was where she'd end up, she could accept a new step.
"Also…"
"Hm?"
"I think we should just leave the fountain where it is," Scrooge said, tapping his fingers against her thighs. "Stealin' youth like that…it's not safe."
Goldie shrugged. "It was kind of an ugly fountain anyway. I've got no use for it."
He breathed out a sigh of relief and glanced over at the digital clock next to their bed. "Curse me kilts, it's already six? I hope the kids havenae gotten into anythin'..."
Goldie laughed and climbed off of him. "Knowing your family, I'm sure they've destroyed half the property and saved an ancient civilization by now."
Scrooge got up and stretched, giving Goldie a great view of his fluffy, naked body. "What should we do for dinner?"
After eyeing him for a moment, Goldie stood so she could start picking her clothes off the floor. "I'm not staying for dinner."
"Oh." He turned around, no interest in hiding his disappointment. "But I thought-"
"I have…other things to attend to, Scrooge." Goldie put her hand on her hip. "You’ll have to go without me."
He frowned. "But ye have this room for the night, dinnae ye?"
"Oh," Goldie laughed. "No, I lied. I swiped the card for this room off of a particularly drunk teenager. We should probably get outta here."
"Wait, what?!" Scrooge exclaimed, scurrying to grab his clothes and put them back on. "You are insane, woman! Why would you-?!"
She was already dressed again when he opened his eyes. "Because I'm Goldie O'Gilt, remember?"
Scrooge sighed dreamily; annoyed but enamored. That felt like a constant state of being with her around. "Somehow I keep forgettin’."
Goldie started to walk towards the door when she instinctively reached into her back pocket. "Do you see my wallet over there?"
He glanced around and shook his head.
She tried to think back to where it could be when the answer hit her like a flying metal box. Goldie snapped her fingers and rushed out the door. "Damn it Sharpie!"

DUCK FRANCHISE REFERENCES: - Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades! One of the best episodes of DuckTales. It's literally so good I was talking about it with a non-duck fandom friend today and she was telling me how much she loves Goldie's character development and y'know what? She's right - There's a scene in this chapter that I sort of wrote back when the ep first aired. https://archiveofourown.org/works/17323205/chapters/65912689

Ducktales day. The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades. Scrooge and Goldie episodes, what do you think of that ship, the pairing of "good" one and grey mortal one that they always seem to trust . Pounce De Loen stealing youth to making himself young.
It's a fairly classic dynamic at this point, though I have to admit it frustrates me when characters like Goldie constantly take advantage of the trust and forgiveness of others. Makes it hard to see her as sympathetic.
What a monster. Apparently he's based on a real life colonial guy as well, so perhaps it's not a surprise that he's like that. I can't even imagine how many people he's killed over the years, or at the very least drained the youth from. It might be one of the darkest things in the show so far if you think about it.

Donald FOWL AU
How certain episodes events would play out with this AU in a sense: somethings will change but this is for now.
Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks: mostly the same.
Quack Pack: post episode is when Donald joins FOWL. And Huey realizes he miss the days before adventures. Louie already did before. Dewey realized later.
Double-O-Duck in You Can Only Crash Twice: is when Agent D is first mentioned.
The Lost Harp of Mervana: mostly the same
Louie’s Eleven: is when Donald and Daisy reunite after years of not seeing each other, and date again.
Astro BOYD: the same cause it’s good
The Rumble for Ragnarok: main plot is mostly the same. Bradford discuss with Donald about the Golden Atlas, and Donald refuses to help get it. Bradford tried anyway by getting Jose and Panchito to talk, Donald warned them to not say anything about Xandra’s location. They got captured anyway.
The Phantom and the Sorceress: Agent D is there with Phantom Blot for what originally was a break in mission to the manor. then almost everything goes the same.
They Put a Moonlander on Earth: Donald and Daisy are on a date. Donald is there to guide Penumbra. to show Donald and Penumbra friendship. And Penumbra decided to go back to the moon with the other moonlanders who want to go back, to rebuild tranquility.

Let’s get Dangerous: NegaDuck appears (it was a actual scrapped idea and a missed opportunity) and Agent D first “shows” himself in front of the family for the first time.

The Split Sword of Swanstatine: Agent Duck appears again the kids and Scrooge’s first true encounter with him. Donald meets the clones for the first time.
New Gods on the Block: mostly the same except at the end of the episode Donald meets up with Xandra in New Quackmore to discuss something.
First Adventure: same
The Fight for Castle McDuck: Agent Duck is their along side Phantom Blot and Pepper to guide them around the castle and get the Blessed Bagpipes. And Della is there because she wants to see Matilda again after all of these years. (Also Scrooge’s parents are dead in this because why not) Bradford tells Donald about his reasonings as to why he’s doing this.
How Santa Stole Christmas: is completely different, it’s not about Santa, but instead about Della’s first Christmas back on earth. (It was missed potential and I would have loved to see it)
Beaks in the Shell: mostly the same in terms of main plot. Donald gets the Papyrus of Binding. Family finds the wrong Agent D. (Gandra)
The Lost Cargo of Kit Cloudkicker: Della’s first encounter with Agent Duck there’s something familiar about him but she can’t quite figure it out.
The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck: mentions Scrooge’s past treatment of his family and how he got his fortune through some questionable means to drive home how Scrooge is a hypocrite and how he is a morally questionable person and always will be.
Last Adventure: family raids fowl’s funzos base, Webby finds the clones, Huey gets captured. Donald goes along with his family’s plans to raid the base, later goes off on his own with Xandra to free the prisoners. Webby finds out about what really happened to her parents (they were killed by fowl shortly after she was hatched her father was of the agency Donald was good friends with, her mother was Beakleys daughter and shush agent.) the kids, Ludwig, Gyro, and Gandra get captured again by the clones. Donald shows himself as Agent Duck to Scrooge. Della gets hung over the Solego Circuit instead. Donald points out all of the problems with the contract, Bradford and the others get arrested by Donald and Beakley. Donald takes in his clones and raises them with Daisy. The family finds out about the truth of the three caballeros and Donald’s secret agent days. Beakley finds out about his magic because Donald uses magic chains to keep Bradford and Heron from escaping.

despite my love and appreciation for scrooge and goldie's relationship, i honestly don't like it quite as much in the episode "the forbidden fountain of the foreverglades" just because half of the charm is that it's an old people romance. they should be poking fun at each other's wrinkles and admiring how much the other has grown more beautiful despite the fact that they haven't changed in 50 years! still love it though.
also teenage-ified scrooge serves so much gender. look at this shit

also goldie's in the screenshot because i like how her hair looks. also gender envy

Why I Think Bradford Buzzard And Black Heron Are Evil Reflections Of Scrooge McDuck And Goldie O’Gilt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Here I’ll be going over my thoughts on why I think Bradford Buzzard and Black Heron are pretty much evil reflections of Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt by going over their similarities as well as their differences. Also, Spoiler Alert for the DuckTales (2017) TV series. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First off, both duos have a member who tried to get the other to see things their way. For Scrooge and Goldie, there was Goldie who, as shown in the episode ‘The Forbidden Fountain Of The Foreverglades!’, tried to get Scrooge to use the Fountain Of The Foreverglades to stay young forever along with her. And for Bradford and Black Heron, there was Black Heron who, as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, tried to get Bradford to embrace his evil side. The difference between them here is whether or not Scrooge and Bradford accepted what Goldie and Black Heron were offering. As also shown in the episode ‘The Forbidden Fountain Of The Foreverglades!’, Scrooge decided to refuse Goldie’s offer to stay young forever in the end. And as shown in the episode ‘The Last Adventure Part 3: Tale’s End…’, despite Bradford saying he’s not a villain, the truth is he actually is one partly because he was gonna throw Donald Duck into a vortex that would obliterate him from existence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, both duos have a member who is a bit more irrational than the other. For Scrooge and Goldie, there’s Goldie who, as shown in the episode ‘The Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains!’, lit a trail of gunpowder she left in order to distract Scrooge despite Scrooge saying that it could cause a cave-in that will get them both killed. And for Bradford and Black Heron, there’s Black Heron who, as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, wanted to use the Papyrus Of Binding despite Bradford’s warning that even the slightest miss-wording could be catastrophic. The difference between them there, though, is under what circumstances their disagreement about that usually take place in. As shown and stated in the episode ‘The Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains!’, Goldie and Scrooge were a couple of treasure seekers looking for treasure. And as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, Bradford and Black Heron were a couple of villains out for world domination. Speaking of which…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both duos have a member who is more rational than the other. As shown in the episode ‘The Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains!’ and as I pointed out in my previous point, there’s Scrooge who tried to warn Goldie that lighting that trail of gunpowder she left behind would cause a cave-in that would get them both killed. And as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’ and as I also pointed out in my previous point, there’s Bradford who tried to warn Black Heron that even the slightest miss-wording on the Papyrus Of Binding could be the end of them. And just like in my previous point, the difference between them here is that as shown in the episode ‘The Golden Lagoon Of White Agony Plains!’, Scrooge and Goldie were a couple of treasure hunters looking for treasure whereas as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, Bradford and Black Heron were a couple of villains out for world domination.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both members of both duos were once on different before joining forces. As shown and stated in the episode ‘The Forbidden Fountain Of The Foreverglades!’, Scrooge and Goldie were at each other’s throats quite a lot before they seemed to reconcile and Goldie returned Isabella Finch’s Journal that she took. And as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, Bradford was once part of a heroic organization called SHUSH while Black Heron was a villain. The difference between them there, though, was who joined which side. As shown in the episode ‘The Forbidden Fountain Of The Foreverglades!’, Goldie joined the light side by returning Isabella Finch’s Journal that she took from Scrooge. And as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, Bradford joined the dark side by helping to found an evil organization called FOWL.
Overall, these are the reasons why I think Bradford Buzzard and Black Heron are evil reflections of Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O’Gilt.
Well, that’s all for this post.
See you all next time.

Collin Rüppells Condor/The Black Buzzard
Basic info
Tumblr media
Collin Condor is a buzzard clone who keeps his backstory close to his chest and has completely discarded his previous identity by not only changing his name to Collin Rüppells Condor, but also by using the foreverglades fountain water to de-age himself into a younger man. He was able to use the fountain to start his own business in raising and processing poultry called "Rüppells Poultry". From an outsiders perspective his product seemed to pop up and spread out of nowhere and even started a fast food franchise from it. He had also hired Susan full-time as his Secretary and Personal Assistant, along with giving her lodging in the mansion that was his creators.
Tumblr media
He also moonlights as his secret alter-ego, the self proclaimed villain dubbed The Black Buzzard, as a way to rebel against his creators legacy and prove the point that he's his own person and not just another copy of someone else. At this point he's created his own machine with the solego circuit in his basement that's supposed to be more stable than the ramrod or solego vortex which he uses to go through different points in time and cause chaos in, both in his and other timelines. He calls it The Solego Glass.
All this as well as his origins are things he's careful to keep out of the public knowledge and is only known by Susan, who also moonlights as his henchperson.
His main goal is to spread as much chaos as possible by means of all sorts of petty mischief, and the only thing that would make it better- to get his birdified creator back from Magica to make him watch the anarchy he brings.
Tumblr media
His main weapon of choice is the umbrella-copter, powder by the lightning gem that was made in the labs of Cape Suzette. It's able to have multiple styles of combat. When the vulture's jaw (the trigger) is pressed shut with the sword attachment unshielded the blade is electrified, turning it into a long taser that can stun an opponent or cause them to drop any metal weapon they're wielding with a single perry, or the blade attachment can be unplugged and used as a regular sword and the handle becomes a lightning pistol for long range attacks- and of course, the blade doubles as a connector for the helicopter attachment, you don't want to try to turn the helicopter feature on without the blade, or you're gonna have a bad time...

Season 3 of Ducktales17 was very intriguing to me. I really did like it but I felt it needed a bit more thought and work in some areas. So the big questions are What did I like about this season? What did I not like about it? What would I keep the same? and What would I change? I’ll start with what I liked and would keep the same. Episodes like Astro Boyd and Let’s Get Dangerous really nailed what they were going for in terms of story and characters. With Let’s Get Dangerous it was a bright glimpse into the future for Darkwing Duck, Gosalyn’s intro, and the dynamic she’d share with Darkwing and Launchpad. It was fan service done extremely well that added a fresh new take on the character’s relationships and their goals such as not having Darkwing adopt Gosalyn, just simply taking her under his wing so to speak, and trying to rebuild the Ramrod to find her missing grandpa. Bradford’s reveal of being a part of Fowl was a nice change of pace as opposed to the usual villain arc the show did for the past 2 seasons, where the villains are kept secret from the family until the season finale, so they’re caught off guard and are surprised by the villains showing up. Astro Boyd is the embodiment of a perfect episode in my opinion. I really love that they decided to dive into Gyro’s character and his past to show just how wildly misunderstood he is. When I first saw Gyro’s intro episode I really thought they were setting him up to be a potential villain who’d end up betraying the McDuck family with the ending of the episode having Gyro sound menacing while talking about Project Blatherskite. I do realize that was him planning on making the Gizmoduck armor but there were other instances where they made it seem like he was secretly evil like trying to conquer the newly discovered Gyropuddlians, planning a GyroBotApocalypse, and cloning an army for goodness knows what purposes in Timephoon. Astro Boyd though showed how he became the man he is today and he as well as Boyd were wildly misunderstood and mistreated by others. By finally knowing the truth they were able to overcome all the struggles they went through and come together as a family. Speaking of which, I absolutely adore the father and son relationship between Gyro and Boyd, it’s without a doubt one of the most heartwarming relationships I’ve ever seen, they deserved so much more attention and love.
Now for the things this season did that I wasn’t a huge fan of. This season tried to do so much that it lacks focus. It’s trying to be the Huey season as well as Webby’s since they wouldn’t have a season 4 for her to be the focus in, trying to have a cartoon version of the MCU by having some unnecessary crossover episodes like the Tailspin one, trying to give almost every character a spotlight episode like Lena with The Phantom and the Sorceress, Penny with They Put a Moonlander on the Earth, and Goldie with The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades to name a few. While there were good intentions behind doing that the biggest problem is that there are way too many characters in this show and it doesn’t help that in some of these cases this would be the last time these characters play a major part in the season or not much was done with the concepts in those episodes. Like with Lena finally having her own powers and Magica getting hers back, essentially all they did was have Lena use her power to stop time in the Swanstantine episode and have her face off with Blot in the finale but even then you don’t see how she defeats him so at the end of the day it kind of left me going what was even the point in doing that if it didn’t lead into anything worthwhile in the overall story. The same can be said about Magica and her getting her powers, not much came of that as well. I really love Astro Boyd but the show didn’t do much with the concepts in that episode either, there was little to no father and son moments between Gyro and Boyd, both of them barely showed up in the season or in Boyd’s case until the finale, and they never brought Akita back as a possible Fowl agent, a real missed opportunity there. Other problems I had were the lack of arcs for Huey and Gandra, how they handled the Fowl agents, the missing mysteries, and the Webby twist. So here’s how I would fix that, the Ramrod would be the only missing mystery that plays a big part in Fowl’s plan being the out of control vortex they have to shut down or else Fowl will throw everyone the McDuck family loves in there. I would also have the season focus solely on Huey and not Webby since I felt she got her chance to shine in season 1 and that was just as much her season as Dewey’s. There would also be no Papyrus of Binding, May and June, and Webby twist. Characters like Gyro, Boyd, Fenton, and Gandra would have more episodes focused around them and I would have Gandra either go through a proper redemption arc or just keep her evil all the way through considering the redemption arc of the villain’s lackeys were already done in the previous 2 seasons anyway. I’d have Fowl start out as Bradford and Black Heron being the leaders that each have their own pupil, Gandra with Bradford and Steelbeak with Black Heron. Then in the ImpossiBin episode instead of the phone call being about the stolen items have it be about people connected to the McDuck family going missing and Fowl bringing in 2 more agents, Akita who they broke out of jail and Magica who recently got her powers back seeking revenge. Finally, I would of course have more Gyro and Boyd father and son moments and episodes then what the actual show did. Those are my thoughts on what I liked, disliked, would keep the same, and would change about season 3. What about you? What did you like and dislike? What would you keep the same and change?

I’m almost done with the art book (well, the main art book, since I’m not reading the bonus book I got until I finish the main one), and while I have been enjoying the little tidbits I’ve gotten about the making of each episode - though not a ton each, since each episode only really gets two pages dedicated to it, and one of those pages has mostly pictures showing a few concepts and background/character art - I can’t help but kind of roll my eyes just a little at some points.
Namely, when they claim that certain episodes in Season 3, particularly ones like “Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades” and “Fight for Castle McDuck” were foreshadowing for the reveal of how Webby is connected to Scrooge. As someone who’s biggest issue with the twist from a writing standpoint was that it didn’t feel like it had any foreshadowing, part of me was interested to see that they did try to foreshadow it....But the issue is that the apparent foreshadowing feels like so much of a stretch that I can’t help but be like “Was that actually intentional foreshadowing, or did you already have that episode planned, and when you had to do the Webby-clone twist, you claimed that aspect was foreshadowing so the twist wouldn’t be as sudden?”
