Just finished season one or Sonic X and damn this show isn't as good as I remembered. I was a big fan of this show as a kid when it came out to the point that literally everyone I know got me the same volume DVD as a birthday present. Despite looking at stills on Team Artail, I never actually saw the entire anime beyond maybe the first few episodes of season one along with some random episodes (I don't even remember if Fox Kids/Jetix ever aired the rest of the show when I watched it in the Netherlands)

But I finally watched it from start to finish, and this show is super stale, slow paced, and feels like filler. Sure, it's nice to see the characters participate in things outside of the main story, but sometimes I'd be watching multiple fillers back to back and the story was very slow. It's kinda similar to when I rewatched Danny Phantom and noticed that the average episodes consists of a conflict in the story, trial and error, followed by Danny Phantom saying an one-liner before beating and capturing the ghost in question. Occasionally they'd get away for two part specials iirc. It's not bad but unlike Sonic X these episodes would be half as long. Sonic X had very short events and stories stretched over twenty minutes which would make me not excited to watch it, but I did want to see the story.

im so obsessed w anime that aired in the west and exists in its original japanese format but has left virtually no meaningful footprint on pop culture that i can detect. like on fox box (then 4kids) i used to watch this show called fighting foodons, which was actually called martial arts cooking legend bistro recipe (or bistro recipe). it was basically a pokemon knockoff where people fought with sentient food. it was incredibly fucking ridiculous as you can imagine but i thought it was cute!

also, i still get the english theme song stuck in my head (please listen im serious)

there was also a show called shinzo on jetix, which was actually called mushrambo. really bombastic action fantasy show. i was pretty obsessed with it tbh!! i think i saw nearly every episode of the first season. apparently in japan it couldnt keep up with hunter x hunter and got canceled and forgotten. i very rarely see people who even knew/remember it, let alone care about it.

interestingly enough, both these shows came from manga serialized in comic bombom, which is a monthly magazine for younger kids than shonen jump's typical audience (think corocoro)

This has nothing to do with anything but I've just realized that your header is shin-chan's dog! Can I ask what he's called in polish? In Spanish his name is Nevado (meaning "snowy" or "snowed")

Yes!! I lvoe this little sad sorry creature, I really need to get back to watching shin chan!! For some reason though in the polish dubbing Shiro got renamed to Lucky. I think we got the rights/video from an american distributor since it was aired on fox kids/jetix which is kind of odd because we already have a pretty default name for white dogs/cats that translates to Snowball or snowflake but its a female name and then a name that is more male that translates to fluffy and is also associated with white dogs... so maybe they wanted to keep Shiro a gender-nondescript by keeping him as Lucky isntead of goign with a more true-to-the-original name?

How much of a webhead I am ? My Spidey was the Insomniac's version, but I grew up playing the one on the Playstation 1 by Neversoft. I also love the Spectacular Spider-Man version by Greg Weisman and Victor Cook and I watched a ton of the reruns of the very old cartoon on Fox Kids/Jetix. Sam Raimi's movies were mindblowing at the time, loved the Ultimate Spider-Man comics (not the cartoon, ew). Anything not mentioned yes I likely played or watched. Let me see what else...Yeah, read a bunch of the comics up to mid 2010s including the Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane silly ones. Can I get my web certificate now or do I need to wait until I watch the new Spider-Verse movie ?
