Alinea Skylark
Tumblr media
Basics-
A.K.A: Linea, Ali
Age: Somewhere in her early 30’s after the whole of Endwalker
Nameday: 18th Sun of the 1st Astral Moon
Race: Wildwood Elezen
Gender: Female
Orientation: Tall men who deal out witty, sarcastic remarks like their life depends on it
Profession: Adventurer, (Wannabe Retired) Warrior of Light
Physical Aspects-
Hair: Medium long brown hair with purple tips that’s pulled back into a high ponytail to avoid getting in her way during fights. She rarely leaves it down and only does so when she’s completely relaxed.
Eyes: A rich purple color, than have an otherworldly glow to them
Skin: She’s fair skinned, but is able to get a nice tan without burning too much.
Tattoos/Scars: She doesn’t have any major scars after her battle at Ultima Thule and being covered in starlight across her body, which she essentially counts as a tattoo and would never cover up. Before that, she did have an array of faded cuts and scars across her body from her fights, but none that she deemed particularly worthy of attention.
Family-
Parents: She unfortunately has no memory of her parents, or any family.
Siblings: None that she is aware of. The twins are essentially her surrogate siblings and she is fiercely protective of them.
Grandparents: Unfortunately, still no memory, and no one has ever tried to claim relation to her, which she is grateful for.
In-Laws/Other: Unfortunately Estinien’s family has also passed away, but there is Alberic that they’re both close with.
Alinea does share a very close relationship with the de Fortemps family, and views Edmont as a father figure. He’s delighted to finally have a girl in the family and loves the fact that she can keep all his boys in line.
Alinea is in a romantic relationship with Estinien. They spend a lot of time between Radz at Han, Alinea’s home in the Mist ward, and her island. They normally go the latter when they want to be alone and undisturbed by anyone. Alphinaud and Alisae have full access to Alinea’s home in Mist, so they often stop by.
Pets:
Yes (just yes haha)
Notable mentions however:
Lumen her Chocobo and faithful companion. He’s extremely well trained, but Alinea is still terrified he’ll get hurt in battle, so she tries to make him mainly heal from a safe distance away.
She has many animals in her care that she absolutely loves. She tries to not choose favorites, but she has a very special place in her heart for her fox.
She has two carbuncles that are summoned at all times. The pink one is called Sephy while the purple one is called Demetri. They are very protective of both each other and Alinea. Estinien knows to never be on their bad side and has been seen giving them extra treats to butter them up.
Skills-
Hand and Land: She’s a pretty deft hand at most of the jobs she sets her mind to, but she enjoys weaving and cooking the most. She finds them both extremely therapeutic and she also likes that she can make gifts for those closest to her. She’s fascinated by alchemy, but she has to really focus to not mix-up ingredients when she has to make concoctions. She also enjoys being out in the land, but finds more joy in botany, though she doesn’t have the greenest thumb around. She knows how to cultivate the land though and how to set things up to thrive on her own.
Combat: She is a Paladin first and foremost and will always love protecting others. She’s more in tune with the teachings of a Dark Knight though, so she’ll often switch between the two. She turned to being a summoner after coming back from the First with high anxiety, but she also finds dancing to be enjoyable. After striking up a deal with an Amaro back on the first, she sets herself the goal of mastering every fighting job she hears about, and aims to get the highest she can. She can do some healing, but prefers to either be in the front lines as a tank, or be in a ranged position, to call out mechanics to those in front and be able to help out with shields and resing.
Hobbies: She loves swimming and with the Kojin’s blessing enjoys it even more now. She loves long baths and pampering herself after her travels. She collects tea blends and dried flowers from the places she’s gone. She’s trying to get into drawing and painting from Alphinaud, but she’s still got a long way to go. She enjoys braiding and playing with people’s hair.
Traits-
Most Positive: She has a strong sense of right and wrong and once she’s set her mind on something being the best course of action, she will continue through with it until completion. (Or someone physically stops her from achieving it).
Most Negative: She cannot control her facial expressions. She has to work so hard on keeping a neutral face in important meetings that half the time she misses what was discussed. She also is very passionate, so has to be careful to not speak her mind.
Likes-
Colors: Purple, Silver, Black, and White
Smells: Fresh Bread, Jasmine, Ocean, Moss/Damp Forest
Textures: Silk and satin dresses/sheets, Pumice stone, Animal Fur, Hair
Drinks: Hot tea, Cocoa, Milk
Foods: Bread, Pastries (scones of her own making are her favorite), Breakfast Foods, Fresh Fruit
Other-
Vices: None, except sometimes being a bit stingy on money when it comes to teleportation.
Mount Issuance: Lumen was her Mount from the Maelstrom when she joined and who she loves dearly.
Been Arrested: None that she can at least remember. She’s amazed she was never arrested in Ishgard just for being in association with Alphinaud and Tataru, but she’s glad things worked out that way. She’s sure she would have been arrested if she actually did punch Fourchenault, but she wouldn’t have cared a bit.

Boy Skylark - Nic Cage Song

Homestuck, page 2,792
[S] Past Karkat: Wake up.
youtube
Songs used: Karkat's theme by Toby Fox, Vriska's theme by Toby Fox, Terezi's theme by Toby Fox, Alterniabound by Toby Fox, Spider's claw by Toby Fox, MeGaLoVania by Toby Fox, A Tender Moment by Toby Fox, Nic Cage Romance by Toby Fox, Nic Cage Song by Toby Fox, Secret ROM by Toby Fox, Boy Skylark (Brief) by Robert J! Lake, Hero's growth by Solatrus, Phrenic Phever by Clark Powell, Walk-Stab-Walk (R&E) by Erik Scheele, Horschestra by Alexander Rosetti
Song commentary for Karkat's theme:
Toby Fox:
(Karkat Walkabout)
Alternia began when I created Crustacean.
AlterniaBound began when Andrew asked me for a looping version of that track - Crustacean - to use in a flash. Initially this song was simply so, but after I learned more about the scope and depth of the AlterniaBound project... I decided that more of a change was in order for the track. (It was at that point that I also decided it would be cool to have some hidden tracks... leading to the early premiere of many tracks that would eventually be on Homestuck Vol. 6: Heir Transparent.
A little while ago, I finished the "final version" of this track. It's not incredibly melodic or wrenchingly dire like my usual fare, but it still remains one of my own personal favorites:
It's pompous, alien, and goofy - in short, pretty accurate of Karkat and Alternia as a whole
It subtly implies that tuba is Karkat's instrument of choice, which we all know is entirely true
WHO THE FUCK LET THE ELEPHANTS IN HERE ARRRGH FUCKING GAMZEE
I hope you like it too. And if you don't, I hope it pisses you off as much as it annoys Karkat to have this song play wherever he goes. That's all I can hope for.
Song commentary for Vriska's theme:
Toby Fox:
(Vriska Walkabout)
I knew Spider's Claw was much too harsh to be used as anything but a battle theme, so when it came to AlterniaBound I decided to just start over with a remix. I cobbled together a collection of unrelated soundsets and generated a jazzy, laid-back version - which, despite its tempo, still sounds kind of jarring and discontent due to the clashing of textures between instruments.
The tune's upbeat enough that you can't stand up to it. It will kick you down. It's pretty strong for how dinky and messy it is! It's also the kind of piece that could be kind of pretty if its voice wasn't cracking every three seconds. Chances are you'll either enjoy or find aspects of it extremely annoying... but that's kinda the way she is.
Like Terezi's theme, the piece's second part contains another reprise of "Theme" in the piano - but to contrast the other Scourge sister, Vriska's version of "Theme" is hopeless and dark. Where Terezi showed hope and emotion, Vriska only shows fear, anger, and loathing due to the repression of her own emotions, her upbringing, and her rotten attitude. In the flash, the high and low of the theme repeat indefinitely... on the album, the piece ends, but on an unresolved chord.
Who knows what's up next for her?
... oh, and if you're looking for the full verison of Spider's Claw, wait until Volume 8, ok????????
Song commentary for terezi's theme:
Toby Fox: (Terezi Walkabout) Terezi's theme evolved when Andrew asked me to create a looping version of Lemonsnout Turnabout. Lemonsnout is a very narrative song. It didn't feel right to repeat a single part of it indefinitely, so I instead took several motifs from it and re-implemented them into a new track. It has a similar chord progression, and in ways of instrumentation it has the harpsichord as the main instrument, oboe, deep piano, triangle, and the "tick tock tick tock" woodblocks that are the eternal harbringer of her countdown judgment. After I first completed the song, I noticed that the track was kind of short. That's when I came up with the idea for the second part of the piece - a reprise of "Theme" from the Alternia album. This shows that Terezi has another side to her beyond her devious Alternian judgment: She truly cares about her friends, so much that she has a certain level of tender emotion that almost puts Karkat to shame. I'm not sure if the bifurcation of the piece worked really well as a faux videogame track, but I think it fits her personality.
Song commentary for alterniabound:
Toby Fox:
These aren't "true" pieces... just jingles based off of "Theme". But I hope that for all their insignificance, they really instill the idea of a game inside of you.
AlterniaBound is a VERY direct homage to the title screen of EarthBound. If you don't know what EarthBound is... you may be missing out on something.

“I got in and turned the key in the ignition.
Sparks zapped and zinged along the base of the bench seat beneath us.
‘Oh, shit!’ I said, as flames burst from the floor of the Skylark and began to coil around our ankles.”
Pg 148 of Chapter 39, 2 Sisters Detective Agency by Patterson and Fox
.
The use of onomatopoeia in this section grounds the text. Plus verbs like coil are just very delictable.
Though, I am a bit split on how this chapter ends. It’s followed by a chapter on the Murder Crew. Going from explosion to casual talk will be jarring either way but it feels…
Incomplete.

American Hysteria: The Podcast About Pointless Panic
Tumblr media
There's a country song by Garrett Hedlund called, "Timing Is Everything."
That sentiment applies perfectly to the podcast American Hysteria.   When American Hysteria began in 2018, the flames of society-wide conspiracy theories burned hotter than ever. With then President Trump using the bully pulpit to foster conspiracy theories -- QAnon, white replacement theory, PizzaGate, vaccine denialism, Putin is being persecuted, and even wind power causes cancer -- rational thought began to exit the public consciousness replaced by a belief best described as Fox Mulder of The X Files meets "Springtime for Hitler."
It was a perfect blend of societal delusions and a podcast investigating that same rift in political, social and cultural stability.
American Hysteria explores how fantastical thinking has shaped our culture – moral panics, urban legends, hoaxes, crazes, fringe beliefs, and national misunderstandings. Poet-turned-podcaster Chelsey Weber-Smith tells the strangest stories from American history and examines the forces that create the reality we share, and sometimes, the reality, we don't.
The podcast is produced by Skylark Media, which is an entertainment network creating and producing interactive audio dramas and podcasts.
The host, Chelsey Weber-Smith, is known for Channel Zed (2020), Behind the Bastards (2018) and You're Wrong About (2018).
Chelsey Weber-Smith also writes country music and rambles around the United States, building campfires and hoping for the best. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia's MFA program in poetry and has written and self-published two chapbooks, a travel memoir, and two full-length folk/country albums, and was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her work has been published in BOAAT, Transom, Matter, Wu-Wei Fashion Mag, the James Franco Review, and Miracle Monocle. She currently lives in Seattle.
Weber is perfect for the role in the podcast. Listen to her: "I believe in getting tangled in the weeds, in living in the often-untouched gray areas, of exploring the nuances that often get lost. I hope to use humor and poetics to ease people into difficult truths, to educate with care and understanding, especially around issues of race, class, gender, and sexuality, and the bigness and smallness of being alive."
What kinds of topics does American Hysteria cover ? Here's just a partial list.
Early Drag Queens, including the manly soldiers of the U.S. Army who put on drag shows during the Second World War.
The ghosts of children killed in a school bus, who are said to push cars uphill and away from danger.
The toy riots that took place over sought-after toys, such as Tickle Me Elmo, Cabbage Patch Kids, and Beanie Babies.
The wild stories about Halloween sadism -- razor blades in apples, rat poison in chocolate -- which turned out to be largely tall tales.
My favorite episodes so far include the show about the numerous conspiracy theories surrounding Barbie over the decades. These theories range from grooming to fat shaming, anti-feminism to body dysmorphia.
In the episode, I discovered there's one thing Ken and Barbie can never do. Get your mind out of the gutter. It's not that. After all, they're dolls. According to Barbie creator Ruth Handler, they can never get married.
My other favorite is about Hallmark Christmas movies. In the episode, Weber-Smith says, "Because so many Hallmark writers and directors also make horror movies, I called in podcasters Sarah Marshall and Alex Steed of 'You're Wrong About' and 'You Are Good' to discuss the similarities between these two seemingly polar opposite genres."
I learned that each Hallmark Christmas movie budgets at least $50,000 for fake snow. The movies are generally filmed in the summer.
My other favorite is the episode about the craze in the late 80s and 90s about satanic cults. The episode details the insanity of parents claiming their children had been affected by these satanic cults that were overrunning America. Later on, we discovered that Satan is really Steve Bannon, so no worries.
Weber-Smith is charming, funny, snarky, sarcastic and utterly entertaining on this podcast. America Hysteria is hysterical in how it crafts a narrative about these events of mass hysteria and then comments on the state of our culture, society and mindset. The narrative is fascinating and educational because, in a way, this podcast is a textbook (only funnier and wittier) on American sociology.
Chelsey Weber-Smith makes the case that America's craziness is not a recent phenomenon. Conspiracy theories have been with us since dogs were domesticated. Think about it. It's only been 60 years since parents claimed that Elvis and his gyrating hips and The Beatles and their long hair would be the end of Western Civilization as we know it.
Thanks to Fox News, American hysteria will never run dry on conspiracy theories. The network invents them every day -- Tyler Swift is a CIA agent, happy holidays is a secret Communist call sign, and when conservative white people fall asleep, their bodies are being taken over by minorities, like in the film The Invasion Of the Body Snatchers.
Check out American Hysteria. You'll learn something, have fun, laugh often, question the validity of conspiracy theories, and enjoy the warped sensibilities of host Chelsey Weber-Smith.
Finally, the podcast does encourage feedback. The podcast urges listeners to: "Tell us about a local urban legend you grew up hearing! We may play your voice message on the show along with whatever information we can dig up."

Trainer Information
Name: Skylark Morales
Gender: Nonbinary
Pronouns: He/They
Age: 20
Trainer Type: Ace Trainer
Home Region: Hoenn
Background: Skylark was always fascinated by Pokemon battles and intended to be the best trainer in the world since they were little. For their 15th birthday they received a very special Absol bred to be better than the rest. With the desire to be the very best like no one ever was burning in their chest, they ignited the same flame in their baby Absol and soon the two set off on their journey.
Personality: A loner by nature, Skylark never had any close friends in school and definitely never had a true rival. Although they appear quite aloof they actually care what others think about them a great deal. They unfortunately are bad at expressing both emotions and affection (for humans at least) and it often makes them feel misunderstood by those around them.
Pokemon:
Absol (Blade), Arcanine (Howl), Vulpix (Sprite)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Absol:
As their first Pokemon, Blade takes being Skylark's partner Pokemon very seriously. Raised from a level one Absol, the two essentially grew up together. For years, Skylark intended to be a Pokemon master with none other than their Absol however a reality check ended with Skylark adding to the team.
Blade used to be incredibly jealous of Howl back when he was a Growlithe, however once the fire puppy evolved and saved Skylark from a perilous situation, Blade begrudgingly accepted him onto the team. While he no longer will randomly slash his teammate out of spite, it's still rare to see them cuddled on their own.
Ability: Super Luck
Egg Moves: Play Rough, Megahorn
****************
Arcanine:
Obtained from a trade, Howl at first didn't listen. Higher level than even Blade but still a puppy, the fire Pokemon had too much energy for its original trainer to handle despite them paying even more for the pedigree pup than Skylark's own parents paid for the competitively bred Absol. Once Skylar achieved his trust however he never again disobeyed a direct order.
Although Skylark had been carrying a fire stone around in their pack with them for quite some time, they never used it on Howl purposefully for fear of repercussions of such a large and powerful yet unruly Pokemon. Unfortunately for everyone, the large beast is definitely still a handful.
Ability: Justified
Egg Moves: Close Combat, Outrage
****************
Vulpix:
Sprite was Skylark's first official caught Pokemon. Although they intended to only ever raise competitively bred Pokemon, the little fire fox proved it was exceptional in the first battle they had using two different eggs moves. Although Sprite is mischievous and likes to faux battle with the older team members, its still very much a young Pokemon and prefers riding on Skylark's shoulder and snuggling into their hoodie.
Ability: Flash Fire
Egg Moves: Hypnosis, Extrasensory
****************
One fateful day ended with Absol in critical condition beaten by an outbreak of Beedrill and with Growlithe badly poisoned from not listening to orders, Skylark had run as far and as long as they could with the poisoned puppy before collapsing. Right before the Beedrill descended however the Growlithe weakly struggled out of its trainers arms towards the fire stone that had fatefully fallen out of the pack. With several daunting steps, the Growlithe nosed the stone just in time to evolve.
In a whirlwind of fire, the legendary dog Pokemon burnt up all the poison in its body so it's trainer wouldn't be sad and sent the Beedrill fleeing with a single fire blast attack. Loyal then to its master that showed they would do anything for it, the fire dog picked up the weak trainer and raced to the nearest town. Luckily everyone made a full recovery and Howl from then on never disobeyed an order. Well, a direct one in battle at least.

20th June 2022: Bempton Cliffs post two of two: Butterflies, flowers and landscape photos
Following on from my previous post, it was also a brilliant day of butterflies today. Small Tortoiseshells seemed to be everywhere with Red Admiral seen well too. I took the sixth picture in this photoset of a Red Admiral and seventh of Small Tortoiseshell. It was fitting these two should star today as they were my original two favourite butterflies on my list of now twenty one favourite butterflies, the Small Tortoiseshell my original. As my previous post explains its the group of seabirds my original favourite birds I saw well today so it was nice to have the butterflies seen too. Guillemot was my original favourite birds of my list of thirty four now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen or photographed both Guillemot and what I nickname my Guillemot of butterflies Small Tortoiseshell on a day before so it was quite something for me, I’ve seen so many Small Tortoiseshells around lately which is amazing. I was also over the moon to spot the orange glow of a fritillary in the grass above a cliff a Dark Green Fritillary. My first of the year and one of my earliest ever sightings of one in a year to take my butterfly year list to thirty one. A great bonus this holiday early on. Large Skipper and Small Blue were highlights too.
I saw a brilliant array of flowers/plants again today including poppies and scabious looking brilliant by the visitor centre I took the second and tenth pictures in this photoset of them respectively, so much red campion like the bit shown in the fifth picture I took today in this photoset it really is out well here a flower I’ve had a top year for so far it paints the place pink so well I liked appreciating the whole plant as well as the flower it and I believe chamomile there could have been some oxeye daisies too on the cliffs made great colours to have seabirds among in pictures I took, beautiful hyacinth type flowers I believe, spotted orchid, broad-leaved and white clover, cleavers, sorrel or possibly dock, lots of hogweed painting the landscape well again, meadow crane’s-bill looking great again, beautiful thistle and pinappleweed a nice one I’ve started seeing again lately which I learnt and enjoyed last year. There were some nice fox-and-cubs I saw nearby on the way to here today.
I took the first, third, fourth, eight and ninth pictures in this photoset of nice views today it really was a beautiful sunny day and the divine blue sea and rich and colourful meadows were stunning it was great to see the sheer cliffs and sweet rock formations and see well down the coast which excites me. An amazing day today.
Wildlife Sightings Summary in full for my day at Bempton Cliffs: My first ever Black-browed Albatross, my first Dark Green Fritillary of the year, seven of my favourite birds the Puffin, Guillemot, Razorbill, Gannet, Fulmar, Kittiwake and Barn Owl, three of my favourite butterflies the Large Skipper, Red Admiral and Small Tortoiseshell, lots of Jackdaws, Carrion Crow including one carrying off a seabird egg, pigeons, Skylark, Meadow Pipits seen well, Corn Bunting, Linnet, Tree Sparrow, House Sparrow, possible Blackcap I believe, Swift, Swallow, Herring Gull, Small Blue, a possible moth and I believe an aphid on the scabious.
It was so lovely to see a Pheasant with adorable chicks on the way here today.
My first post about today is here: https://dansnaturepictures.tumblr.com/post/687615349094580224/20th-june-2022-bempton-cliffs-post-one-of-two-the

Rhug owner described bird situation as 'heart-wrenching'
New Post has been published on https://petnews2day.com/pet-news/bird-news/rhug-owner-described-bird-situation-as-heart-wrenching/
Rhug owner described bird situation as 'heart-wrenching'
THE moorlands of Corwen’s Rhug Estate are one of the most important areas of upland habitat in the country and provide a breeding ground for some of the UK’s most threatened bird species.
However, there has been good and not so positive news at the site.
A recent study has shown that while certain bird species are thriving, there are others that have seen significant declines.
Following a successful application to the Welsh Government, the Rhug Estate, along with Llanarmon and Rhiwlas (North Wales Moorland Partnership) have been able to undertake a survey of breeding birds on these moorlands.
This activity has been part of an EU-funded Sustainable Management Scheme where baseline surveys of fauna, flora and other variables will help to inform management initiatives in the future.
READ MORE: Rhug Estate home to electric vehicle charger hub
Ornithologist Keith Offord has extensive experience of the Berwyn going back 45 years.
Last year he set about expanding the usual surveying as part of the project so that Rhug Estate could learn more about the bird life on the moors.
Most strikingly, comparing the situation today with 45 years ago, there have been significant declines in certain species with corresponding increases in others. In the meantime, there are some species which appear stable.
Lord Newborough, owner of Rhug Estate, said: “We value Keith’s expertise in this area and appreciate the extensive survey work he has already carried out.
The Berwyn. Picture: Keith Offord (Image: Picture: Keith Offord)
“It is heart-wrenching to learn of the species we may never see here again as a result of how the climate is changing.”
The species which have declined, or are now absent, are: Golden Plover, Ring Ouzel, Red Grouse, Black Grouse, Snipe, Wheatear, Dunlin, Merlin and Curlew.
One very obvious common factor for many of the birds which are declining, according to Keith Offord, is that they are specialist upland species which are on the southern limit of their UK range.
It has long been predicted that shifting climates will, unsurprisingly, have the greatest impact on those species which belong in particular climatic envelopes. Conversely, a number of species on the northern edge of their European range are increasingly spreading north.
Keith explained that the shifting climate may not be the only factor affecting moorland bird populations.
There are other pressures such as habitat management and predation, in particular from Carrion Crow and Fox.
Meadow Pipit. Picture: Keith Offord (Image: Picture: Keith Offord)
Species showing an increase in numbers include: Carrion Crow, Common Buzzard, Red Kite, Hobby, Raven, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Blackbird and Wren and those whose numbers are stable include: Hen Harrier, Kestrel, Cuckoo, Whinchat, Stonechat, Meadow Pipit, Skylark and Reed Bunting.
Keith said: “The habitats across the survey area clearly demonstrate how a differing mosaic produces the greatest diversity of bird species.
“A mix of heather, bilberry, gorse, bracken, common sedge and a scattering of native trees, such as rowan, provide the optimum conditions for diversity.
“The heather itself appears to benefit from management policies which create diversity in depth which also reduces the fire hazard.”
Despite declines in some species, others are managing to thrive perfectly well, a good example being the most abundant bird of this habitat, the Meadow Pipit. Correspondingly, Cuckoos, which are in steep decline across much of farmland Britain, are reasonably numerous.
Being a brood parasite, they are of course also dependent on species such as Meadow Pipit as well as a good provision of invertebrate food.
Some other species, which previously may not have been regarded as upland birds are seemingly increasing their presence, good examples being Wren and Common Whitethroat.
These survey results are for 2021 and the findings from 2022 are currently being analysed.

Winged seraph of the summer heaven, Whose wondrous rapture, wild and long, A hundred bards in vain have striven To prison in a song!
How can they tell, with all their art, What passions make thy glad throat swell, That, throbbing at thy fiery heart, Thou feel’st but canst not tell?
How can we picture in our dreams The joys that thro’ thy paen glow, That joy that sours so high it seems About to break in woe?
Sing on, wild bird, thy wild glad song, That fills our eyes with sudden tears, While back upon the fancy throng Memories of vanished years!
Sing on, sing on, for ever free! We cannot know what thou dost sing, And better it should ever be An undiscovered thing.
The Skylark by Cicely Fox Smith

Apawthicaria The First Journey of Shiny the Crow Introduction
The first few things that you should know about me is that my name is Shiny; I am a crow and yes I do like shiny objects. It should be noted that my adopted father, Clark, was the one who named me and…I have questions about the naming choices of his family. You could probably tell that Clark was a skylark bird based on the name alone. When I was a bit a wee long lass, barely hatched, Clark found me and took me in. He had no other family of his own. At times, he can be a bit overprotective, and I know he means well. But honestly, if he didn't want me to rebel so much he should have loosened the reigns a bit, don't you think?
I grew up in the Forest City of Odoak, surrounded by Poulticepounders. I was always fascinated by them too. So much so that, one day, during my flying lessons with Papa Clark, I snuck off while he wasn't paying attention and followed one of them! I got to see their work up close, I got to see them exchange recipes and techniques. By simply watching them, I decided I wanted to be like them…and if I could fly well like Papa Clark, and be brave just like him, then maybe I could make a massive difference in the world right? I decided to learn all that I can to become one, on top of finishing my flying lessons.
It did take many years to get where I was. I had to stall my first journey so many times because Papa Clark was worried and overprotective. I eventually made a deal with him…He could come with me and be my companion so that I wasn't alone, and he could protect me if I ever got into too much trouble! We went back and forth on this, and while doing so, I worked on my skills. One beast gave me a trinket as thanks for helping them! It was a pot for a potted plant, decorated with pretty stones; I was told it was a part of a collection and there were others out there in the world! I wonder if I could collect them all….
After many months of going back and forth with Clark, he finally agreed to the deal. We set the first day of travel to be the first extraordinary day of Spring. It just had to be the perfect day for Soaring, Just before my journey, a curious Stitched requested that I make sketches of any of my patients I might receive ailments to better understand beasts' diverse anatomy. They also suggested I head eastward, as far as I was willing to go, as there might be better opportunities for me out there. I agreed, excited for the long journey and adventure ahead. The Stitcher told me the sketches weren't too urgent, as it should be a relaxed knowledge gathering. However, I am determined to accomplish this goal and my journey within twelve days!
However, with the gear I have acquired, I worried I might eventually slow down due to weight and would be resorted to walking…I should keep in mind how much I can carry.
I am also worried about Papa Clark; he says he should be fine and can make the journey with me easy peasy, however, I do have some doubts within me. He isn't as young as he used to be… ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi everyone, Wolfie here!
