Let’s do something from Freefall because I miss Julia, this is from the next chapter

Julia sunk more into her seat, her finger traced the outline of the lid. “The past ten years I’ve tried to figure out why I did what I did, how I just pushed you out of my life. It wasn’t easy. There were so many times when I wanted to call you…” her eyes closed at the ache in her throat. “To hear your voice again.” 

Dick felt his stomach twist at how her voice wavered. God, he thought that he was over this. The whole situation with Julia, how much she had hurt him… he thought he was finished with it all. But hearing her talk about it was only reopening old wounds. He had been kidding himself for ten years. He never got over losing her, he just got good at burying that anger and pain. 

“I was a kid, Dick,” Julia continued, effectively bringing him out of his trance. “I had just lost my mom, I didn’t know how to handle any of it. I did what I thought was right.” She cringed, absolutely hating for the way her mind worked at that point in her life. “It doesn’t excuse anything, I’m just sorry that I didn’t handle it any better.” 

“It wasn’t your fault,” Dick had been quiet for so long when he finally spoke, Julia felt her body give a small jump. “I’m just as responsible for how it all fell apart, I stopped trying to contact you.”

Hey lovely I'm sorry that parents can be such nightmares! It sounds like you're juggling a whole lot there you poor thing! You're wonderful at what you do and it sounds like your principal knows it too. Make sure to take some time to relax and look after yourself!

They certainly can be.  I won’t go into details, but I try to take everything the kids say with several spoonfuls of salt about their parents and I would hope the parents would do the same...and if something doesn’t quite add up, come talk to me.  But no.

Today went just as bad, but I really appreciate you reaching out to me.  I’m gonna have Reese’s pie tonight because it’s a comfort food kind of night. haha.  Thanks again.
