Level 1 Lesson 13 : Present Tense of regular -IR verbs

Today, we’re diving into the present indicative tense of regular second group verbs. It might feel like we’re picking up the pace, but remember, practice is key, and don’t hesitate to revisit previous lessons, especially Lesson 7 on first group -ER verbs.

1. Mastering Present Tense Conjugation : Second Group Verbs

Second group verbs are a bit trickier than first group verbs, but fear not! They’re still manageable once you get the hang of them. These verbs end in “-ir” in their infinitive form. To conjugate them in the present indicative tense, we remove the “-ir” ending and add specific endings depending on the subject pronoun.

Finir (to finish) => fin- Choisir (to choose) => chois- Réussir (to success)=> réuss-

Sorry for the rent, I kind of need to vent for a bit.

I’m graduating this year and currently finishing my first internship in a law firm. I realised I’m not as interested as I thought I’d be about the subjects and cases I am given. It was manageable while going to work but I definitively lack motivation to work from home during lockdown. 

I have another internship coming up in July and I’ll try to stay focused until then. I also want to be confident about the fact that I’ll enjoy it !

Une Mise au Point 10.12.2019

Bonjour à tous!

Alors, il y a beaucoup de choses qui se sont passées pendant ces dernières deux semaines. Notamment, j’ai tenté de réorganiser mon emploi du temps en réduisant mes études à trois heures pour chaque langue. Mais il a fallu que je me réveille à 4h30 du matin, donc ça n’a pas vraiment marché. J’étais plus fatiguée que d'habitude à cause de stresse au propos de mon travail cette semaine. Par conséquent, je me suis réveillée à 5h du matin sur le lundi, le mardi et le mercredi, à 6h sur le jeudi et à 7h sur le vendredi. De plus, je me suis couchée si tôt (20h).

Cependant, je n’ai pas complètement raté mon temps. Le fait que je peut m’exprimer sur ce blog comme ci est grâce à des douzaines des heures passées à regarder des vidéos sur Youtube en français. J’ai trouvé aussi des partenaires pour les échanges linguistique (l’anglais contre le français et l’anglais contre le japonais), à qui j’ai parlé beaucoup cette semaine. Je pense que j’ai fait tellement du progrès avec ma prononciation. Additionnellement, j’ai beaucoup plus de confiance en moi-même, donc je ne suis plus honteuse à essayer d’exprimer en français même si je ne peux pas le parler parfaitement.

Day [5/100] of Productivity!

So! She’s back! I took a break from doing the 100 days over the holidays because my health went downhill pretty quick but I’m doing better and continuing this! I have a French speaking, listening and grammar test in the next week and I’m trying to get as much revision done as I can. I feel like learning French as a university course maybe isn’t for me? I’m looking at changing to a different language but still studying it on my own 🤷🏼‍♀️ we’ll see!
