The pilots giving a hand are highly experienced professionals(unlike me, I'm still a newbie😅), most who fly the big planes for work also own little planes either for fun &/or to keep up their skills. Pilots often use their little birds to hop around to visit friends far away anyways, so what's a few more flights to a friend in need?

@owlsinathens shared this with me about books she gifted me as I apologized for not be further along in the readings as I thought I should. Because of my own traumas with “you better be grateful” regardless of what precipitated the “gift” from parents and the expectation that I SHOULD utilize fully what has been given no matter what unless you “want to be ungrateful”, I’ve put pressure on myself to knock out the series.

Books shouldn’t be knocked out.

They are pure wonderment- good, neutral or bad. These worlds should be cherished. I didn’t have that luxury growing up - to cherish stillness, family, others, or myself.

Literature in many of its forms, including fanfics, allowed me a safe escape. It allowed me the chance to express, process, scream, learn and bandage many things in my life over the last 25 years. (Note: acknowledging that I’ve been escaping so much since I was 10 is quite telling.)

What I’m trying to say is that there are great people and great books (and great fanfics) that should be given the time they need. No pressure. No expectations. No obligations. Just enjoyment.

Life lessons come from anywhere. Tumblr has been my most caring tutor.

Hi Britt! I wanted to ask if you have any writing advice? I was trying to find someone to commission or request an idea I had (pretty self indulgent) but it didn't work out. I used to write a LONG time ago, like well over 5 years but I stopped because of mental health and my job.

I won't burden you with my request since I'm sure you have a lot on your plate but do you have any advice on getting back into the writing game? I don't think I'll end up writing it but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask my favorite writer.

Hi darling! First off, what an amazing compliment. I'm honored to know that you consider me to be one of your favorite writers. Truly.

I've always loved to write. These days it's not only a form of expression, but a part of my self-care as well. It's my one major outlet, apart from cooking and baking.

As far as tips go, if you're anything like me then your best ideas might come to you at the most inopportune times. For this reason I always travel with a pen and notepad so that I can jot them down when they come. I've also used the notes app on my phone, which works just as well.

Sometimes I'll even outline entire stories/chapters if the time and space permits.

One big thing that I've also learned is to allow myself some grace. Some days I wake up convinced that everything I've written is crap. Some days the words just won't flow. Some days a stories direction might take a turn that even I wasn't expecting...

So I force myself to roll with those punches. Because at the end of the day, this is supposed to be fun. I don't get paid to do any of this. So why the hell should I stress myself out about it?

My point is don't push yourself so hard that your brain shuts down. Embrace your creativity, but also respect when your mind needs a break.

And finally, don't be afraid to take inspiration from scenes in other books or stories you've read. Re-imagine it and make it your own. I actually find that kind of fun.

Dear lovely followers,

A dear friend of mine lost her mother this afternoon, 11/3/2022.

She is currently not doing very well emotionally or mentally, and could really and truly use financial assistance to help cover medical expenses and cost of care from the last week.

In addition to this, her grandmother is currently in a nursing home, and any other financial assistance would go towards continuing to pay for not only her cost of living at the facility, but also to her continued care.

As far as monthly expenses go, I am unsure of her standing on them, but I'm sure whatever aid is left over would go towards food/bills/monthly expenses that are left over.

Please, if you can donate, please do. It is greatly appreciated.

That's indeed a very difficult situation. If I were you, I'd try to firstly talk to both of them separately. Explain the situation to both of them. Tell them that you are very close to each of them and that they are equally important to you. I'd say, that if they really love you and treasure you as a friend, then they'll understand and probably even try to get along. If not, then not. I think they just should accept this.

And, what I can tell you as well (I've been through this, too)... If a friend gives you an ultimatum, then the friend isn't a real friend, 'cause real, true friends would never give you an ultimatum - in my opinion.

I mean, I can understand that they don't like each other. It's humanly. But they shouldn't fight this fight on your expense - if that makes sense.

I was at a Palestinian solidarity gig last night & the one Palestinian artist who was going to perform had COVID so the organisers asked around to see if there were any Palestinians who'd like to say a few words instead.

A local guy who was born & raised in Gaza offered to speak. He started with "I'm an engineer. i'm not a poet or a politician. I don't... do public speaking… I had no idea what to say when I came up here. So i'm just going to tell you about the street I grew up on."

And then he did! He went down the street building by building. He told us about the ice cream shop on the corner, the grocery shop, the charity that supports people with intellectual disabilities. He told us about the people who he knew growing up, the families who still live in the different houses. He told us about the university buildings and about his friends who quit being accountants to start a band together. All on that street.

All of which is gone now, by the way. Bombed to dust.
