The moment Sirius hears a stressed Regulus on the other end of the phone, he knows something is wrong. His usually cool and calm younger brother has almost given him a heart attack by asking him, in a tense and overwhelmed voice he has rarely heard before, to get to the hospital as soon as possible, along with the insistent sound of an ambulance siren. When he tries to get more details, he just tells him that he'll explain everything when he gets there and that everything's fine. Oh, and to bring Remus with him.

As he explains the situation to Moony, who has been looking at him expectantly throughout the phone conversation, worry creeps into his face. 

"Let's go now, I'll drive," is all Remus says as he gets up and grabs his keys.

As soon as they pull into the hospital's car park, Remus's phone rings with a message notification, which he pauses to read for a moment. The cackle of laughter he emits leaves Sirius completely baffled.

"What's going on?" Sirius tries to ask, but the taller one has trouble controlling his breathing in the middle of a fit of giggles. "Remus Lupin, my baby brother could be dying in there and you're laughing your ass off in here?"

"Trust me, he's not the one who's going to die!" he replies, when he manages to regain some composure.

"What do you mean?"

"My love, I need you to stay calm, okay?" the taller one asks, grabbing him by the shoulders. "I can assure you Regulus is fine, I promise, but I'm going to let him explain to you the reason we're here."

"He told you and not me?" Remus simply nods.

"Are our parents hospitalised?"

"I wish, but no."

After another failed attempt to get more information, they both meet Regulus in the waiting room.

"James Potter's family?" a nurse asks before Sirius can even ask what's going on. "He's stable now, you can come in and see him." 

James?

Still disoriented and once inside the hospital ward, Sirius can name four things he doesn't quite understand. The first is why James and Regulus (who seem to hate each other) are here together, the second is why everyone except Remus, who looks rather amused, is avoiding eye contact, the third is why his best friend is wearing a neck brace, and the fourth is why his younger brother, who knows nothing about soccer, seems to be wearing a rather familiar Arsenal jersey that barely covers the bruises on his neck. Wait, bruises?

"If someone doesn't explain to me what's going on in the next five seconds, I'm going to commit arson."

"I broke James' neck," says Regulus, while at the same time James exclaims, "I fell down the stairs. Remus laughs and Sirius finally understands what's going on.

"Enough! I see what's happening. Guys, I told you not to fight over me, you both have my affection eq—"

"I sat on his face, broke his neck and he passed out." Regulus interrupts.

The room falls silent.

"Why didn't you stop him, James?"

"Sirius..."

"It was an accident, right?" asks Sirius looking at them all, "Right, Prongs?"

"We've been together for four months."

"'You brotherfuck—"

And Sirius lunges at James attempting to throttle him.

And the thing is, he's happy for them, he really is, but he's angry that the two bastards made him believe all this time that they hated each other, so he had to keep making separate plans to prevent them from killing each other.

For all the weeks James has to wear the neck brace, Sirius avoids eye contact with him so he won't remember why he has to wear it. This proves to be difficult as his best friend in the world tells everyone about the reason as if it were some heroic feat.

Well, the kaiju ship I ship most is Mothollante, but everyone’s already given their thoughts on that so yeah. Has a lot of the pros of Mothzilla with few of the cons, as well as the wonderful aesthetic of a genetically-engineered abomination and a goddess of nature. There’s also the obligatory puns about flowers and butterflies, and Mothra-based hurt/comfort and fluff which is one of my favorite kaiju fan plots.

Mothzilla’s… alright when handled in a certain way, but it’s a “the ship is fine but why is it everywhere” type of thing. And with the MonsterVerse especially, their relationship is better if it’s platonic. All in all, I don’t really ship it, unless a particular person’s take leans to the “humanity’s sins and nature’s virtues” aspect of both of them.

Gong’s pretty good. Tired old men being tired together.

Rodorah’s pure arson and anarchy and I value it for that, but no way is that dynamic anything approaching healthy. I ship it for the lolz.

I’ve jokingly shipped Legion from Gamera and Destroyah together before. Two big buff arthropod ladies.

Angzilla has the same benefits as Gong, really, but with more Showa craziness. I find Kongzillra to be a funny threesome, esp. because GvK would have been over in ten minutes if Mothra was there to slap some sense into Goji, to calm Kong down, and to alert the humans to Mechagoji/Ghidorah.

2MUTO is the kaiju ship I like second most, it gets points for being the only canon kaiju couple I can think of outside of the two OG Rodans, and also because I just love the MUTOs in general. Fr though, those two bugs were so sweet together, and I do think they had as much if not more chemistry than the human leads. Anyone who says that Femuto would have committed mate cannibalism on Hokmuto can face my wrath. MUTOs are clearly designed to fight, hunt, and live in pairs (therefore it makes no sense for her to kill and eat him), and it’s entirely possible they’re like crocodilians (i.e. female raises the kids and protects the nest, male brings her and the wittle babies food. Babies stay with the parents for several years until they can live on their own, and may stay within the parents’ territory for several more years. But now I’m going on one of my MUTO ecology headcanon rambles again…)

ooh this is a long one

- I think the funny thing about the hurt/comfort fluff is I only really like it with the Heisei Mothra. For some reason, maybe because she starts out as a larva, she always seemed a bit less like a goddess to me and more like a really caring person just fighting for what they love. While I read other Mothras as more closed off and unsure in social situations because of their attachment to world peace, Heisei Mothra feels more sociable and peppy, and thus capable of committed relationships

- continuing that, Mothzilla I have never really been a fan of, and I think Goji and Mothra being friends is far more interesting. They care so much and mean so much to each other, but it’s because they value their friendship, and neither of them have really had a relationship like that before. They started off as a business relationship and got closer over time, and I think their friendship is very sweet.

- Kongzilla is (usually) very relaxed old man yaoi and I like that a lot

- If you read my other previous ask about Rodorah, you’ll know how I feel about it. Very wacky very goofy very arson.

- Y’know what, I totally think Legion could get it. She’s pulled tons of arthropod ladies before.

- Again, relaxed old man yaoi, I like that a lot. For them it’s way more like, they’ve been friends for so long and have only gotten closer over time, and everyone’s wondering whether they’re official or not, and maybe they won’t say it out loud cause they don’t want the attention, but they are.

- I had a pretty brief Kongzillra phase and that was pretty fun. Mostly used for laughs and silly shipping dynamics where there’s no bad blood. They’re a power throuple.

- The MUTOs are so cute to me, the part where they meet each other in Chinatown, call to each other, nuzzle, and sync up their vocalizations when they kiss lives in my head rent free. It’s too bad Godzilla hates straight romance, because they were a very adorable and committed couple. (I also would be super into any MUTO ecology posts if you’re offering)

There is something deeply suspicious about Sandy from Stardew Valley

Sandy, the chill lady who runs the Oasis shop and front for Mr Qi's exclusive casino doesn't seem to have any major problems, outside of a lingering boredom.

But something just doesn't sit right about her character. Sandy never leaves the desert, even though she longs to see Stardew Valley again. She claims that she can't leave the shop unattended, but aside from the farmer, only her friend (definitely more than friend), Emily, will visit once a year on her birthday. No one else will ever enter the Oasis. We never even see the patrons of the Casino enter or leave, perhaps due to the exclusive nature of it's clientele, or maybe there's another entrance. Knowing Mr Qi, some of the patrons may not be small enough to fit through the doors. Either way, Sandy is never seen interacting with them.

What we know about Sandy:

Her name isn't actually Sandy. We never find out what it really is

She lives in the desert all year round, even though she says "my delicate skin burns quickly in the sun"

She is able to keep her store running, even though she never has customers

She is the only place that sells the unique starfruit, despite not seeming to have a supplier that we know of

She is aware of the Casino, but not allowed to enter, thanks to 24/7 security. Despite this, she continues to act as a front for it, taking hefty bribes to stay quiet

She used to visit, or perhaps live in Stardew Valley before moving to the desert

She is friends with Emily, but is never mentioned by anyone else

This is literally everything that can be confirmed about Sandy. Every single thing we know about her raises more questions than it answers. Aside from Mr Qi, she is the most mysterious character in the game. However, stranding together the small pieces of information we have, one theory seems more likely than all others: Sandy is on the run.

She lives in the desert, under a fake name, despite the climate being quite uncomfortable for her. Out in the middle of nowhere, no one can find her. Mr Qi took an interest in her, enough to move his Casino into the upper floor of her shop. The fact that he did this means that she's different.

She never returns to the valley - unless you invite her to the cinema - despite claiming she wishes to return. All flowers from the valley are considered a loved item to her. But why can't she go back?

My guess is that there was an incident. If she is friends (girlfriends) with Emily, she probably has at least a small interest in magic. Perhaps one day, intent on discovering the purpose of a certain crystal, she accidentally invokes some ancient power, causing mass destruction and multiple fatalities. Sandy never actually meant any harm, but no one will ever believe it. And so, with a heavy heart, she leaves her home behind to hide in isolation. Emily is the only one that understands. And Mr Qi.

The dramatic soul in me would love to believe this.

But what I reckon happened was that Sandy was just a girlboss supreme and committed multiple felonies including arson, vehicular manslaughter, battery and grand larceny because she knew deep down that she was just a true queen and those plebians should keep their heads down and kneel at her feet. Unfortunately, she couldn't slay hard enough to counter the entire police force and went into hiding until she can slay across the lands once again.

Mr Qi watched it all, munching on popcorn and little pieces of rock candy.

Butterflies (Gwourtney Oneshot)

Courtney and Gwen didn’t share taste in a lot of things. Clothes, makeup, activities, movies were no exception.

So Courtney mostly just paid attention to painting her nails instead of watching the movie. Gwen seemed to be enjoying, though. As long as she was happy, Courtney was content. At least it wasn’t a horror movie.

“That guy who escaped the prison reminds me of Duncan,” Gwen stated.

Courtney looked up at the screen. The man on the screen was trailing gasoline to a large building. “Yeah. Real in character.”

“I can’t believe he actually blew up Chris McLean’s house. What was he thinking? That he was invincible? No, you’re going to prison. Fucking dumbass.”

Courtney laughed. “I can’t believe he seriously thought he would get sent to juvie after committing arson. I mean, Mr. McLean deserved it, the guy’s insane, but Duncan’s just as crazy.”

“I don’t know about that,” Gwen disagreed. “Chris has done some messed up stuff to this town with no thought of the people in it. Duncan is just a criminal who wanted to prove a point.”

“Fair point.” Courtney sighed. “I can’t believe I ever dated him. Especially when all I wanted to do was fix him.” She laughed, putting the nail polish brush back in the polish and closing it. “What was I thinking? Dating a criminal has had to be one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. If I talked to myself before I knew Duncan, she would berate me for ever stepping foot near him.”

“God, I can’t believe I dated him either,” Gwen agreed. “I thought you were crazy for leaving him but man was I wrong. Getting together with him was the worst idea ever. Especially since it was right after I became friends with you. I’d pick you over a guy any day.”

Courtney’s heart beat a little bit faster. She brushed it off. Maybe it was just because she had a lot of coffee that day. That caused fast heartbeats, right? She had to stop drinking so much.

“I mean, I liked him, but it got weird fast,” Gwen stated. “You know?”

“Not really,” Courtney admitted. “I don’t even know if I ever even liked him. I think I maybe just liked the idea of him. A bad boy who had a soft spot for me. And he was, but did I really have a soft spot for him the same way?”

Gwen looked at Courtney with a bit more attention. “Woah. That’s news to me.”

“I don’t know,” Courtney shook her head. “I just don’t know anymore. He’s like, the only guy I ever liked. And now I’m wondering if I even did. Because like, when Bridgette talks about Geoff it’s so different. She’s talking about all this stuff I’ve never felt for a guy before. Like butterflies and stuff. Obviously I get those, but not for a guy. Not for Duncan.”

“...Really? I never knew.”

“Well, it’s not like I told you before.”

“I mean like I never noticed. But now that I think about it, I kinda do. I mean, you never went crazy about him like he did about you.”

“I guess so.”

The two remained quiet for a moment. Courtney thought about what Gwen had said. Yeah, she never went crazy about him. Not even in her own head.

“So, for the purposes of this obviously, what was liking Duncan like?” Courtney asked.

“Ugh, I don’t want to talk about that,” Gwen complained. “I’ll tell you how it feels to like the girl I like now, though.”

Courtney blinked. Girl? “What?”

“Oh, yeah. I kinda like a girl right now.”

Courtney shook her head. “What do you mean, girl?”

“Oh,” Gwen stopped. “I don’t think I told you. I’m bisexual. Is… that’s cool with you, right?”

Girl? Bisexual? What? “Gwen, what the hell is bisexual.”

“You…” Gwen was stunned. “You don’t know what bisexuality is? At sixteen?”

“What is it?”

“It’s like… I can like girls romantically the same way I can like guys romantically. I can like both.”

Courtney’s mouth stayed slightly open in awe. “That’s a thing? How have I never heard of that?”

Gwen shrugged. “I learned from my cousin when I was ten. And… do you know what lesbians are?”

“No. What’s that?”

“It’s someone who only likes girls romantically.”

Courtney sat back and stared forward at the movie that was still playing. “I never knew that before.”

“I mean, it’s not like people really teach us. People are assholes. Who think only guys and girls should ever like each other. Which is really shitty. Oh well.”

“Well, that explains why I never heard of it,” Courtney stated.

“Yeah. I guess you can look up stuff about it, if you want. I know you like learning. And research.”

Courtney stayed silent with a smile for a moment before; “So… you were saying you like a girl?”

“Yeah,” Gwen smiled as well. “She always makes me smile just being there, and when she just touches my arm I get butterflies and sometimes she says something and it just makes my heart beat faster… oh you smeared your nail polish.”

Gwen held the palm of Courtney’s hand to stabilize it while wiping the nail polish off of her finger with a tissue.

Courtney felt something light and fluttery in her stomach.

Butterflies.

“So did you ever have any of that with Duncan?”

“No,” Courtney whispered.

She couldn’t be loud. She didn’t have the strength. She was taken aback just moments before, she had just realized. She never liked Duncan, but she liked Gwen.

Who knew? Courtney didn’t know that was even possible until moments ago.

“Well, maybe you’re right. Maybe you never liked him.”

“Maybe,” Courtney agreed. “So… I’m getting tired. Are you ready to go to bed?”

“Oh yeah, sure,” Gwen said. “Let’s go to my room.”

Gwen shut off the TV and stood up, beginning to walk towards her room. Courtney followed, taking her nail polish to put back in her bag. She had to put her nails in ice water afterwards.

She dropped her nail polish in her drawstring bag.

“Be right back, Gwen. I’m gonna go put my nails in ice water.”

“Alright. Turn the lights off.”

“Yeah, totally. Night.”

“Goodnight.”

Courtney smiled. Check. That fast heartbeat earlier? Check. Butterflies? Check.

Courtney could proudly say she had never and will never like Duncan. However, she could not say the same for Gwen.

HLVRAI TMA AU (BP edition)

Hoo boy! Here we are! This post is going to get LONG because I am SO fucking autism about this shit. Like infodumps, TMA and/or Hlvrai? Stick around! Don't? Last chance to scroll by.

Inspired by @corvidaeconundrum! Their HLVRAI/TMA stuff inspired me to post my version.

General info:

This is a game au! The game the player ends up getting was an experimental rip of Half Life to bring the Fears closer to a nonexistent world, and see if they could affect lives that technically do not exist. (Aka some nerdy avatars decided it'd be a fun little side project to generate more fear) Unfortunately the project was eventually deemed a failure and given away to some poor soul for shits and giggles. That poor soul ends up being the player, getting more than he could've bargained for.

Gordon:

(I don't have a drawn ref for Gordon because I forgot to save Krita right as I was coloring him in :') I'll upload him when i have the motivation to try again.)

As the player proceeds through the game, they find themselves accepting the role of Gordon more than their own identity at times. While parts of themself are integrated into Gordon (their son, dreams to be a streamer, etc.) they eventually fully accept Gordon Freeman as who they are. Gordon does eventually become an avatar. Throughout Black Mesa, Gordon is often confused, and denied any sense of logic in his mounting terror regarding the situation. As he's ambushed by the military, and his hand is sawed off, he's faced with a choice. He can stay here, and die confused, alone, and afraid, or he can go home to his son, a mess of inconsistencies and terror. He takes a knee and submits to the Spiral, taking on the burden of insanity as an identifying trait. When the game is turned off and put away, he finds himself still embodying Gordon Freeman and the Spiral in the real world.

Dr. Coomer:

WARNING! Clowns, existentialism, and body horror regarding eyes

Harold P. Coomer has been a loyal employee of Black Mesa long before Becoming an avatar of the Stranger. Faced with confusion in his identity, and a few failed experiments, he found himself in avatarhood. More than anything, he doubted himself as a real person. Of course, this thinking was absurd, and he often relied on his friends to anchor himself as somewhat human. A person who mattered. But with the first glimpse outside of Black Mesa, an unloaded map with half-finished textures, enemies as still as statue, unaware of their own existence... He Knew. He Knew none of it was real. That he wasn't real. He Knew that every time he had grounded himself, told himself he was real... that it didn't matter. He's been proud of himself then, for calming down. Now he's distraught more than anything as he takes on a new burden: The Eye. After being separated, he collects the old parts of himself. Damaged, rejected pieces left behind after experiments, he stitches them together, fuels them with the same rage he feels. After Gordon and Tommy fight their way through, he feels conflicted. He takes a while to think. To reflect. To realize that it doesn't matter how he exists or why. He was made with purpose. With love. To be someone. With a new perspective gained, He rejoins the Science Team.

Bubby:

The perfect scientist was hell to create. It needed time, wastes of Government money, and sacrifices. Through this, Bubby was eventually created, a born avatar of the Desolation. Keeping him sustained wasn't easy, either. A couple phones with heartfelt memories a week usually satisfied him enough to be cooperative. But despite his nature, Bubby found someone he cared about. That he'd never take anything from: Dr. Coomer. The two bonded instantly, becoming best friends in a matter of days. One night, they managed to sneak out. Arson was committed, ice cream was bought, everything was going perfectly. But as night fell, Bubby discovered a new desire. The stars in the sky. He almost wished he could reach out and touch one. During the escape from Black Mesa, he almost achieved this dream. Climbing on top of the rocket, he reached for the atmosphere, before he stumbled and fell. The fire felt cold as he dropped. It was an experience completely alien to him. He'd been confined his entire life, yet the open sky greeting him as he plummeted terrified him more than anything, and the Vast made a connection. When he hit the ground, he saw stars... and nothing else. The voices of the people he cared about echoed in his ears as his own felt incredibly distant. Realizing he'd never actually see Dr. Coomer again, he wondered if this was what it was like to have everything taken from you.

Tommy:

Nobody really knows where Tommy came from. Not even Tommy himself. All he knows is that he has a dad, a dog, remembers the entire OSHA handbook cover to cover, loves bayblades, and his favorite thing in the world is soda. He knows that all of this isn't real. He knows he's an avatar of the Spiral and the Stranger. He doesn't really care. He wants to go home, eat dinner, and walk his dog.

Barney Calhoun was something of a klutz. So it came to the surprise of no one when he stumbled through a door and never came back. Just wants to graduate. He doesn't know why these guys look so weird or why their fucked up dog considers him a chew toy. Maybe if he survives Sunkist he can go home. Maybe.

Just works in the mixology department, and is the only normal human at Black Mesa. Friends with Tommy, refuses to let his coworkers eat radioactive materials for funsies.

And yeah, that's basically my interpretation of the AU! I'm still working on concepts regarding it, but I just wanted to get this out there.

Character A is a gentle and quiet person who learns that he is the harbinger of destruction and pulling all the horrible things happening around this world straight to his location, and he cannot stop this. Due to this, everyone dislikes him BUT his friend character B, a cute but aggressive lady that coaxes him out of exile with baked goods and kind words to try to get him to prove to others he is not evil.

He does try to prove he is not evil by helping others around the town the story focuses on. This is not going well, with character B now having ptsd from a disaster caused by one of the monsters following character A, and character A very nearly being trapped and killed by a mercenary, as well as only making people hate him worse over a slip-up where the curse flared up violently during an argument.

Somehow these two are still together anyway.

Safir Reactions from 1x06

I binged Safir last night up to the latest episode (getting back into dizis and now I'm back to being that basic b*tch who stays up until 2:30 am watching a dizi) and I have some thoughts! (SPOILERS!)

First, I am loving the drama already. It is so melo!! I have loved the lead actor (Ilhan Sen) and actress (Ozge Yagiz) and had seen their previous works and enjoyed their acting immensely. I am so happy these two beauties are in a drama together. Their chemistry is amazing and they do a wonderful job. Not only are they wonderful together, and I absolutely ship them, but they have great chemistry with the rest of the cast.

So let's get into it:

Plot (so far):

At the moment, the plot is really good. We have our female lead (Feraye) who was in a long committed relationship with the SML (Yaman Gulsoy). As she is the daughter of servants for the Gulsoy family, they kept their relationship hidden from his family, although all her friends and some of her family knew about their relationship. Feraye's story is very reminiscent of cinderella. She has the evil step-mother and evil-step sister. Yaman, and his younger brother Okan get into some trouble and the evil stepmother witnesses it and uses it to blackmail Yaman and Okan. She orders Yaman to immediately marry her own daughter (Aleyna) who has had a long time crush on Yaman (and doesn't know about his relationship with her step-sister). Yaman, in a panic, does so. Feraye, heartbroken and confused (because Yaman was in love with her one day and they were talking about marriage, but the next day tells her he married her sister and actually loves Aleyna instead of sitting down and explaining anything to her, he ruthlessly breaks her heart) attempts suicide by arson. Now, in the midst of all this chaos, the eldest Gulsoy son returns home (Ates) and he finds her in the burning vineyard and saves her life. At the hospital, they learn that she was pregnant. Over the course of figuring out what to do, Ates proposes to her, hoping to save her from breaking her beloved father's heart and also hoping to avoid being forced to marry someone of his (evil) grandfather's choosing. Win-win. Ates is very charismatic. He is sweet and caring for Feraye, and to the audience, there is definitely the appearance that he knows more than he lets on. Yaman, now married and a horrible husband, is distraught with jealousy and lets out his toxic behavior. He stalks, harasses, vilifies, and abuses Feraye. Instead of doing anything logical, he acts selfishly and with lack of foresight. He proposes to run away with Feraye and keep her as a mistress and abandon his current wife (who is also her sister - even if it is a terrible sister). He continues to pressure her to the extent that she decides to do away with marrying Ates, who she appreciates for his kindness and generosity but at this point is definitely not in love with, and run away. Her friend promised to bring money so they could leave for Istanbul together where she can live in hiding and have her baby. Unfortunately, her friend went to Ates' mother for money saying that Feraye would leave Ates for 2 million dollars. Ates learns of this (from his mother's boasting about how she was right) and soon after Yaman learns of it as well.

There's also some business shenanigans going on with the family being bankrupt and hiding it from Ates (although again, this kid seems like he knows more than we think) and Okan going crazy.

Characters (so far):

Feraye: Feraye so far is a mix bag, I pity her and admire her, but can also be a bit frustrated with her. In the beginning, when we meet her, she is very in love with Yaman. From her point of view, he cheated on her and abandoned her for her sister. Completely heartbroken, she agrees to marry his brother who proposes a logical solution to her problems, which comes with the massive hiccup of having her in close proximity to her toxic ex. Feraye exhibits typical behavior for someone being overwhelmed with feeling and super hormonal, is understandably distraught. Some of her behavior is frustrating to the some viewers who can't understand why she still loves this obviously crazy individual, however as it is literally only a couple weeks since they broke up in such a confusing way, I'm not too surpised by her emotional behavior. Ates can only protect her so much, and she doesn't tell him his brother is the father of her child (although I suspect he knows). She doesn't really waiver though. Everytime Yaman harasses her she does try to avoid him and push him away believing she can not trust him and not willing to hear his excuses. However, the trailer for episode 1x07 may have her waiver on this when Yaman gets into an accident. Nevertheless, I do feel a lot of pity for her as she is the main victim of Yaman, her stepmother, and Okan's behavior. No matter what happens in the future, I don't see her ever being able to trust Yaman again, whether or not she gets with Ates.

Ates: Ates is by far my favorite character. Where a lot of characters in the show are led by their emotions, he is very cool and calm. A lot of his backstory is still unknown. So far, we know is very upfront about a lot. He doesn't like being lied to, which is unfortunately what everyone in his family is doing to him, and hates being out of control. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a sociopath, honestly, and with so much unknown about him,the writers may even make him into a villain, but to be honest, I would still be on his side because even if he is a mastermind manipulator, I am loving his character so much. He left for the US years earlier and is just returning now. He is trying to bond with his family again and though they started out okay, by becoming engaged to Feraye it has strained those bonds. However, Ates doesn't waiver. He doesn't hide his feelings. Unlike Yaman who hid his relationship with Feraye because he worried that she would not be accepted, Ates is very upfront (and I will admit it is likely because he needed to speed up the process so that he can believably be passed as the father of her child). He doesn't hide his relationship and does everything by the book. He has a demeanor that makes people fear his reaction if he is angry. Honestly the way people keep f*cking around, I can't wait to see what happens when he rains down fire on them like his behavior suggests he can do if he is pushed far enough. I'm looking forward to seeing him be a guy that teaches Feraye to trust again.

Yaman: The other end of our love triangle is a little b*tch. But honestly, I will admit that in the beginning, I did pity him. He obviously loves Feraye and seemed like a sweet boyfriend (although some of the latest flashbacks do show some signs of red flags tbh). He is a good older brother, protecting Okan and that is the reason for his trouble, not anything he did. So I can understand his frustration. He didn't deliberately do anything wrong in the beginning. Honestly, if this was a different story, I can see how the story would have him as the main lead and end-game for Feraye (which I really hope doesn't happen) -- and some people seem to continue to ship them despite his very obvious red flag behavior. See, my sympathy is not limitless. I think that once you shit the bed you can have second chances, but you can't have more chances than you deserve, especially when you're not actually trying to fix anything beyond yelling that you deserve a chance. Yaman, after breaking up with his girlfriend (brutally), marrying her sister, refusing to explain anything (even in vague terms), he then regrets. Which okay, yeah, I get it. Totally understandable that he panicked and after having done everything, he now tries to return to normal. But he just never does anything logically. After failing to talk to Feraye, who also very understandably doesn't want to hear his excuses, he doesn't try to have a civilized conversation with Ates. He doesn't do anything but continuously harass Feraye and refuses to take accountability for how the relationship ending was his fault. When he believes that she cheated on him with his brother during their relationship, he becomes the epitome of TOXIC. It's not a good look. And while some viewers may be able to stomach it and it can echo other male lead's 'passion' for their female leads, it is really just a good showing of how many red flags people ignore in excuse for 'true love.' Not a fan. It's really just toxic love, selfish love, obsession. I'm not saying his feelings aren't valid. But how he displays them is wrong. I also think his behavior towards Aleyna is disgusting, no matter how much I dislike her. What's distressing is that I understand him, I understand why he is acting this way, but I don't excuse it.

Cemile (evil-stepmother): Ugh the absolute worst! I honestly hate her. She is the one that started all of this and her motivations are extremely mercenary. She says she wants to do everything for her daughter, and I do believe she loves her daughter, but she is not the brightest woman. Blackmailing a guy into marrying your daughter isn't going to make her happy. She's going to be in a loveless marriage where she'll be a pushover because of unrequited love. She's a really stupid, jealous and selfish woman and I just really want to see what her comeuppance will be.

Okan: Okan is the youngest Gulsoy and by far the dumbest. He's easily led, doesn't have many braincells and is rather spineless. Now, he's the baby of the family, and so his family very obviously babies him a bit. In the beginning, the trouble is basically pushed way out of proportion of what it should have been because of his stupidity and panic. His actions lead to massive consequences for those around him and he is aware that he's dug a grave he's not going to be able to get himself out of and instead of lying in it himself, he's basically digging graves for everyone around him. Already, he's had a psychotic break from all the lies he's telling, pressured by his family and his fear. I'm not going to lie, Ates is doing a really good job guilt tripping him (whether or not he knows he's being lied to by Okan or not, it's really fun to watch) and it's a treat. The poor kid is out of his mind. Despite his guilt towards Ates, he's firmly on Yaman's side, feeling more guilty to Yaman for being the reason his relationship is in turmoil (broken). But like I said with Yaman, while I can understand his actions, I can't excuse them.

Aleyna: Aleyna is the most oblivious character. She is the one who knows absolutely nothing, living in a fairytale world where she's the main character. She's led by her wants and desires and has a remarkable lack of self-awareness. She knows when she's not wanted but she goes anyway, she knows when she's annoying but she acts out anyway, she knows when she's being treated badly but she excuses it anyway. In a lot of aspects, she's a pitiful person, and I don't like the way Yaman treats her, but she had a lot of power to walk away from that treatment because that relationship was based entirely on her imagination. She's just a spoiled child. Whether she gains any depth later on is to be seen.

Concluding notes:

I just really enjoy where this show is going. Waiting a week for updates is exhausting. I really hope it continues to do well. It's excellently directed and written so far, so hopefully they can keep up the good work. Now, with most dramas, after the first 9-12 episodes it falls into the trap of exhausted story lines, so while I expect it to happen again to this one, I'm enjoying the ride while it's good. And if it doesn't happen, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Does it matter when he was born? Donovan doesn’t think so, life’s a blur when you’re that age, it only really begins when you can remember it did. He remembers stained mattresses, sandwiches of white bread and jelly and reruns of late night cop shows. The house was filthy, he was filthy, yet nobody seemed to care about it. What he does know is he was angry, always angry, as his sisters and brothers came along all he felt was rage at the person he called mother laid on the couch, staring with glazed eyes at the ceiling and father, drinking from large bottles of vodka and smacking his face when he didn’t change a diaper. Donovan tried - he always tried to make things easier, tried to make sure there was food in the cupboards, tried to make sure his momma didn’t choke on her vomit, that when men came over they all stayed in their rooms and waited for them to leave. If teachers or parents at school noticed how small all the Kowalski kids were, they didn’t say anything, a scruffy family.

Things like this don’t end well, and to this day Donovan doesn’t know what happened. The shed out in the woods, the one where substances were made (they brew potions, he once told his younger sister, dangerous ones so you need to stay out) suddenly blew into a storm of fire and death. Donovan lost both his parents.

He should’ve called someone but didn't. He knew what would happen - they’d split up the remainder of the family. Once again he tried to keep things going, selling jewelry, telling the others that it was just them now. Mom and Dad weren’t coming back, but it was going to be alright. The money ran out though, the food ran out and one day his younger sister let slip to someone who cared that Mummy hadn’t been around for nearly two weeks now. Not once did he say anything, lips tightly shut as he sat in a small chair in a room that was painted brightly. Toys on the floor, cartoon stickers for doing so well talking to the nice officer lady! Bodies were recovered, fractured events pieced together. Donovan hugged them all and said he’d come visit. Then the Kowalski kids were split up, and he never saw any of them again. 

Fast forwards to orphanages, fostering, kicked out for running away. Another family, knocking out his step-brothers front tooth. Another family, kicking the cat. Another family, stealing cigarettes. It didn’t matter how loving they were, how many difficult kids they’d worked with, Donovan was always the breaking point. He barely attended school, preferring to hang out in parks or on street corners with his friends and commit petty arson and robberies. This behavior escalated, sending him to juvie once or twice before Donovan aged out of the system. It was always petty crime and shitty jobs, though his criminal history meant they were hard to come by. Luck was never on his side till he ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time - a gang fight. It was nothing to do with him of course, he was familiar with some low-level activities but not this. He shouldn’t have got involved but he did, jabbing a blade into someone’s neck to save another life as the cop sirens came screaming down the street. In those few brief moments, a deal was made - Donovan would take the rat for a capo and no matter the sentence, would be allowed into the gang as thanks afterwards. 

Prison was prison, a 6 year stretch that saw Donnie 26 when he finally left but, at least he had somewhere to go after - White Crocodile’s made good on their word, and invited him to their gang.

my summary, mixed in with some of the screenshots i have :D

i was in the caves during the beginning after zera came to give me a pity life (/lh/hj/thank u for the life), trying my best to get out, then found ed, five, and elle. ed died previously before and quickly returned to the base where we were and five asked how he died and he said he was pushed. i then asked who and ed went "who do you think?" and killed elle D:

anddddd i got very angry so i left them alone after clarifying that me and five were still okay, i just hold grudges so i wont be friends with ed.

i wandered around for a while, almost dying a couple of times before finally coming across the Sillies of The Sand (consisting of brandy, wilm, elle, and of course me), who were making an underground area to hide from the mobs at night.

yet again we were scared of nighttime so we built a really shitty 5 x 5 cobblestone house (beloved) and stayed there. shenanigans may have ensued with putting wilm inside a hole in the wall with a block in front of him. me and brandy also joined the hole and elle started throwing bamboo at us for “enrichment.”

the night went like that basically the entire time, and when the next day passed, Space didn’t want to stay inside and instead went to attempt to build the Silly Gang’s house.

i came back when i got to half a heart, and when healed, i realized they were all out of food, and tried to go back outside to get some and then died from a husk.

at spawn, Lads of The Valley (stiff, phil, moth, bee) and wilm greeted me, and i was given a flint and steel, and set lots of things on fire— including accidentally myself. me and wilm watched phil commit arson all the way back to their base, and i put out the fire that they attempted to make on the Boatem Birdies’ (zera, jay) boatem pole.

uhhh then i just got super confused about everything lmfao, but melou gave brandy a clock !! so i offered an alliance with them, then watched melou getting brutally murdered by stiff. knowing that he’s not good at pvp, i stole some of their crops instead and got caught by stiff.

i then left the group after that to actually start building the house, and it was a very peaceful time compared to rest of the session. i did almost die from a skeleton, but it was fine. brandy got killed and i went to see if they were alright, and we traveled together back to the desert area. brandy left me to look for the lads, i stayed where i was lmao and kept preparing to build. brandy came back eventually and said they couldnt find any of them. annnnd then the session ended.

lately i’ve been thinking of a sorta zombie apocalypse au for the mcd / mys cast?

ITS LIKE. okay it’s hard to sorta explain because my thoughts are at a constant 400 mph so it’s hard for me to coherently put my thoughts together. it isn’t original tbh but i just rlly like zombie apocalypse stuff and mcd is living in my head rent free so.

it’s small ideas such as:

zane being the leader of a stronghold town that’s extremely closed off and refuses to take any new people usually. he’d be extremely protective of his town and is the type to go on a “my people are alive because i use any means necessary to keep them away from people like you.” kinda monologue.

the idea of aphmau and zoey travelling together with two kids (levin and malachi) trying to find a home because their previous town was either taken over by infected or a gang/organization. and they arrive at a small safe town that’s barely holding together with garroth as its new leader.

the equivalent of “phoenix drop” is a group of people who were taken in by Leader (tm). they were liked because no one usually takes anyone in due to fear that someone might be infected or not enough materials. they settled in a small abandoned town and barely scraped by. garroth was one of the first people they took in and quickly became their most trusted friend/right hand man. this is why when they suddenly die (or suddenly murdered) garroth is the one in charge out of nowhere.

my idea for laurence and shadow knights in general are ppl who’ve been experimented on by The Organization (tm) using the virus to make a cure but somehow have become superhuman who ocassionally get mini temper tantrums and the occasional cannibalism :D i think laurence might’ve been someone who escaped and stumbled into town.

OH MY GOD HEAR ME OUT. okay so what if the organization was looking for “soldiers” to help with a “Clean Up” of infected. garroth and vylad, part of the ro’meave family, were sent in bc they were the most physcally capable and bc it’s an honor to work for The Organization (tm) while zane was forced to stay and take care of the city. garroth would be given a high rank in the group while vylad would’ve been a normal soldier since garte doesn’t really think too highly of him to give him a rank nor let him control a town of people.

due to this, vylad was one of the soldiers chosen for an experiment, along with laurence etc. ofc garroth didnt know this and instead was told he disappeared. i think he did eventually find out about the whole experiment thing bc he couldn’t believe vylad was just gone (either out of grief or had his own suspicions). when he went apeshit, they tried to placate him by saying “he wanted to do this” and then decided to just drop a bomb that vylad is dead. 

i just imagine a scene of garroth standing at the lab’s “morgue” and watching them open a bag, seeing vylad’s “body” and just the look of devastation and misery on his face.

anyway, he ends up going “fuck this shit” and leaves The Organization (tm) but ofc not before committing some arson out of revenge, making him a wanted criminal by The Organization.

ofc, vylad isn’t dead, it was just a trick by the org to get garroth off their back only to completely lose him. (which i feel like isn’t something such a strong org would make such a mistake but this au’s for the shits and giggles and my own indulgence.) i think he and laurence actually planned an escape together but ended up separated

SO IMAGINE. laurence stumbling into this town, he’s growling and shit bc of the negative side effect of the experiment and garroth runs out, hearing shocked screams from people, only to see a familiar ginger hunched over looking half dead. he points a gun at the person and when they meet eyes it’s just “..laurence?” “garroth?!” LOSING IT I LOVE REUNION SCENES LIKE THIS

here to ask u abt irenor… i’ve never heard of the ship before but i’d love to hear u explain it and break it down for me. my main question is how their relationship would work/come about, but my secondary question is who is the better chef between the two? I think cooking with/for ppl is such a sick form of intimacy so that’s why I ask.

quick disclaimer that I don't actually know enough detailed history about these two yet, I just have 2 scenarios that are giving me brain rot. I also don't use canon Ireland, I use an oc named Molly that I can't even particularly claim as my own.

okay but, they would probably hate each other at first, yknow when Sigurd is doing normal vikings raids on the coast (he was about 20, she was 21-22). I don't think they ever actually ran into each other during this time, they just knew of each others existence and decided to hate each others guts.

Now, I like to think about the time Dublin was settled was actually the end of Sigurd's raiding days. Like, there was still raiding going on in Ireland but he no longer wanted to take part. It was then, that the two of them met.

"You committed murder, arson, and thievery!"

"But I don't anymore!!!"

it took like two years for them to actually have a conversation that wasn't yelling.

anywho on Molly's side of things after about a year she just found him annoying, personifications have seen so much shit she got over Sigurd's own-partaking in the raids pretty quickly. They become kinda psuedo friends, as Sigurd is hanging around more and more with the more Norwegians that settle in Ireland. (also Molly thinks he's hot but that's a side note).

Tbh I don't actually know how/when they fell for each other and confessed but it happened at some point.

The first scene I have brain rot for is actually right here! I just adore them way back in the day having soft mornings together, (and considering like hc Iceland and Faroe Islands as their children) them teasingly arguing about who has to get out of bed first to get the baby. If I were to write it the decline in their relationship would absolutely be shown in how they interact when they first wake up going from "Good morning, I love you, I can't wait to spend all day with you, stay in bed I'll get Ida" to just... silence.

the second one I haven't written out, but I would like to if I can find time. Them both living in the US in the 1850s. Though Molly spends most her time on the East Coast and Sigurd spends his in the Midwest, they can't completely avoid running into each other once or twice. That once or twice sparks something fueled by loneliness, sentimentality, homesickness, and the need to control something. There's no real feelings in the relationship, it's very much for old times sake, they were never officially together again and they never officially broke up again. Sigurd went back to Norway, Molly fell in love with Lorenzo. And it was over.

They're friends now, and they kind of ignore their past relationships, do their best to co-parent the two now-adult children they had together. Sometimes they'll fall back into an 'what could have been' state (especially when they meet in Dublin); but it never lasts long. They're happy as friends now. They were in love, they aren't anymore, that's okay.

For the second answer, they both have pretty eccentric food tastes so I guess it really depends. I would have to say Molly though, and really because of time period when they were together she did most the cooking. Although if they were together in modern day it would probably be a pretty 50/50 split.

Jabitha Week Day Six: 40 Reasons why I ship them.

This is one of two, short parts I'll be releasing for today! Feel free to add on to this list if you have any other ideas :)

First and foremost, they are by far, the healthiest couple on the show.

Both Jughead and Tabitha have been endlessly supportive to each other through everything they’ve been through since meeting.

The friends-to-lovers transition was flawlessly done.

They are so much fun to write!

Their humour and sass is so well matched- flawless banter.

Lovers in plaid.

Couples who commit arson together stay together (a shared kink).

Both of them are equally chaotic which means they can do crazy things without it being weird. I mean, their first date was an alien support group, followed by a key party and mothman hunt.

They have a mutual love for Archie (Jabarchie squad unite!!)

Their flirty lines are always serves.

All of their touch moments are flawless- the handholds, cheek kisses and hugs.

On that note… SPIN! FREAKING! HUGS!

Every time they dance it gives me a rush of serotonin.

Tabitha’s really helped Jughead with his sobriety! When he relapsed, she was gentle and kind about helping him, which I love.

They are a literal power couple- an angel and portal opener? Hell yeah.

A shared love of Pop’s (and food) is an excellent foundation for a relationship.

She’s his muse 🥺

All the nicknames- Jug, Tabs, Tabby (we need more of that one!)

They are such an adult, stead and mature couple, and they lack the drama that tends to linger around other couples.

They got not one but TWO love confessions. Endgame much?

Rivervale Jabitha were slaying; not even evil ghosts can tear them apart.

Their working together in Pop’s is so precious. Like, imagine all of the shenanigans they get up to while on shift together?

Erinn and Cole clearly enjoy working together.

Pop loves both of them- it’s just so perfect. He can be both of their grandpa.

Their relationship build up was amazing- the perfect, season long slowburn. It didn’t feel rushed at all.

They both cook for each other and it’s pretty frickin’ cute.

Their apartment has the nicest aesthetic (seventies vibes methinks??)

When he went missing, she started looking for him immediately, whereas nobody even noticed/cared. “Did nobody miss me?” Well Tabitha clearly does when you're not around.

And then again when he died, she ran to the bunker in heels to look for him.

She died and came back to life to re-incarnate him. If that isn’t true love, I don’t know what is.

Both of their duets are absolute bangers and the cutest to watch.

The way they look at each other is just 💕

Jughead supports Tabitha’s in her hopes and dreams, and she supports him in his. Every time one of them achieves something they hype each other up in the most amazing way!

When they do get an S E X scene, I just know it will be the most adorable thing ever.

If they end up getting engaged/married it will undoubtedly be the most hilarious and precious affair ever. *I wholeheartedly believe the “ring in a burger” theory*.

They have so many wonderful characteristics in common (loyalty, compassion, intelligence, etc). Their personalities and moral values make them so compatible.

All of the Jabitha content I've seen is flawless- I said what I said.

And with that said, my Jabitha mutuals and fellow shoppers are the loveliest people ever: I’m grateful to have been able to meet all of you guys through this ship.

Watch Your Back | Stacy Claflin | Published 2022 | *SPOILERS*

Even perfect neighborhoods have deadly secrets. 

Ariana and Damon moved to the gated neighborhood of Rosy Hills to leave behind their traumatic pasts. Now they have their dream jobs and are part of a tight group of friends. All of that crumbles when their neighbor Rita disappears without a trace. 

Now it looks like one of their own could be a killer. Ariana and Damon must figure out who it is, or they risk never finding Rita alive. If they don’t reach her in time, they could all end up dead...

Ariana Jones is set to meet her two best friends, Lia and Rita, for their weekly happy hours at Rita’s popular Mexican restaurant. However, when she doesn’t show, and neither of the two women nor any of her employees had heard from her that day, they know something is wrong. 

Police get involved, and Rita is officially considered a missing person. Ariana has gone through a kidnapping herself, at the age of 11, and her husband, Damon, is the son of a prolific serial killer. Between the two of them, they’ve seen enough trauma to last them a lifetime. That’s why the two of them try to help people before they become victims, but putting out various self-help podcasts, books and doing interviews. It generates enough income that they are able to live a happy life in the safe community where they live. 

That is until Rita’s disappearance. Ariana and Lia both think that her estranged husband Boone is the culprit. He is showing no concern for his missing wife, continuing to see his girlfriend and continue the affair that he started with them. He even goes as far to threaten Ariana and Lia when they attempt to confront him about Rita. 

The four of them do whatever they can to help Rita. They begin by passing out flyers, creating a social media page and holding a vigil. But, they aren’t aware that Rita’s kidnapper is amongst them. Rita was also in a relationship with a man that she named Jared to the girls. When snooping through her office, they find out that the man’s name is Mitch, and Rita is pregnant, though none of the information they find leads to clues whether it was accidental or on purpose. Ariana also notes that the man named Mitch in the photos found in her office is also the man she saw snooping around hers and Boone’s house earlier that day. 

Deciding to inform the police of the information they found, they begin working harder and harder into her disappearance. But when police begin to quickly leave the scene, it is discovered that a bloody shirt of Rita’s was found in the woods. Not wanting to believe that her friend is dead, Ariana refuses to believe it and she and Damon begin canvassing the woods looking for her. When police find them, they inform the couple that their house is on fire, and they are escorted back to their neighborhood. 

Ariana knows that Boone is behind it, as Boone told the police that his alibi was that he had been found to have purchased items in order to commit arson and burn down Rita’s business, as it was in hopes that it would save their marriage. Boone made them sign an NDA, but after the house was set on fire, Ariana didn’t care about the legalities of sharing it. 

She and Damon begin staying with Lia and her husband Charles, and while the two men are awake after being unable to sleep, they discover someone hiding in the bushes near Boone and Rita’s home. The police arrive, as they had been canvassing the area looking for him, it is discovered that it was Mitch. He confesses to having abducted Rita, but that he was doing so on behalf of Boone, and he wanted immunity in order to tell the police where she was. 

In the meantime, Rita had been held inside of Mitch’s home, and was both disgusted and distraught to learn that Boone and Mitch had been working together. After one failed escape attempt, Rita knew the second time needed to be the one where she escaped or she’d never leave. Boone arrives at the home to finish the job that Mitch started, and Rita knows this is her time. Fighting for her life, she is able to get away from him, and runs to the nearest neighbors home to call the police. 

The detective calls Ariana to inform her, and despite the police detective telling her to stay away from the scene, all four friends decide to go against those orders, and the three women are reunited. 

Rita confesses that she is in fact pregnant, but doesn’t want to get into details. Damon and Ariana’s home is in the process of being rebuilt and in the midst of their lunch with Rita, Damon gets a call. The crew working on their home has found human remains on the property, and that the remains hadn’t been there for very long. 

This was a free read from Amazon, through their Prime Reading program. I’m not sure if it was the format of the book through Kindle, or the paperback book would have been the same, but this author basically wrote every sentence as a new paragraph. It was very rare that a paragraph was longer than a sentence or two, and it was very hard to read and follow. 

On the plus side, the book was very short, as the last twenty pages was information for the author and her other books available. I wasn’t impressed with the story, but the cliffhanger definitely would want me reading the second Ariana Jones book, but I have zero information on it at this point. 

3/5 stars.
