One of the things I wish Skyrim did better was displaying other provinces of Tamriel as independent countries, rather than hiveminds of whatever race came from them.

Every single Imperial hates the Nords.

Every single Nord hates Imperials.

Every single High Elf supports the Thalmor and White-Gold Concordat.

That’s not how worldbuilding works! At this point, in the FOURTH ERA of Tamrielic history, the different provinces would be super-diverse. It makes sense if Argonians are exclusively in Black-Marsh or Khajiit exclusively in Elsweyr if it was ancient history, but this is after several countries have risen and fallen and etc.

Why don’t we see any Bosmer, Dunmer, Altmer, Khajiit, Orcs or Argonians fighting Stormcloaks, or at least as town guards? It makes sense why Stormcloaks would exclude non-Nords, since they’re racist, but the Empire has no such sentiment. At least, not at large.

I feel like not enough people address the fact that the Turing Test is literally rooted in gender stereotypes? The entire goal is to get the computer to guess if a person it cannot see is male or female based on questions related to hobbies, work, hair length, etc...

Like I guess it makes sense if the purpose is to get the computer to calculate and understand stereotypes within the culture it communicates with, but still... it feels off. I’m not entirely sure that analyzing stereotypes in a meta way was Turing’s original reasoning.

But oh well, the man’s long gone, not much we can do to figure out his intentions now.

I remember hearing that Ken Sugimori said what makes a pokemon design a pokemon design is “they have to look like they’d be your friend”. I can’t find any sources on this, so it probably didn’t happen, but it’s really good fakemon-design advice nonetheless!

even Garchomp, one of the strongest, most brutal, most ferocious pokemon out there looks like it’d be a big brother-esque friend. It’d protect you no matter what, with his fangs and claws and all.

(the only pokemon I can’t really apply this to is Gyarados but it gets a pass cuz it’s supposed to be a raging force of nature)
