Tonight’s progress on Old Crow Brew from Frony Ritter Designs. I wanted to stitch something small and quick so I could have a finish in a reasonable amount of time. Let’s see if I can actually finish it, heh. #worldssloweststitcher #crossstitch #crossstitchersofinstagram #xstitch #darkoctoberstitching #flosstube #stitchmaynia #stitcher #stitchwitch #moderncrossstitch #xstitchersofinstagram #crossstitching #xstitching #modernembroidery #handstitched #embroidery #handembroidery #needlework #needlecraft (at The Starlight Stitchery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDfkc83n5BJ/?igshid=1u923p2loiz4i

This is the grown up version of visions of sugar plums. I stitched them on Pink Lady Aida and Tropical Green Aida both from Wichelt. I added some sparkly thread from Kreinik and beads from Mill Hill. The patterns for these are in the 2019 A Cross Stitch Christmas book from Crossway.

Combine three of my favorite things—cross stitch, Halloween and cupcakes and you get this. The hatchet cupcake was inspired by a dessert I had many years ago at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, B.C. I devoured a lethal dose of chocolate cake which had a cookie hatchet dripping with raspberry syrup embedded in the middle. Now I can add bloody hatchet to my bucket list of weird cross stitch design components.
This pattern is available in the 2018 Special Halloween Issue of Just Cross Stitch. I used DMC floss, Mill Hill Beads and Dense Fog Jobelan 28 count by Wichelt. Because of the non-standard frame size I found a piece of pine fencing, painted it black, and used cording, lace and a button to finish.

These patterns will be available soon from Frony Ritter Designs. The idea for them was born at the Great Divide Brewery in Denver, Colorado. The bartender, who was on top of his game, asked me several times what I would like. Having already had a beer I pointed to a Crowler lid. (When a can and a growler reproduce this is what you get). Although puzzled, he handed it to me and my mind immediately visualized Cross Stitched ornaments. The rest of the story is the typical wrestling with my skeins of floss and fabric to find just the right colors, and stitching and re-stitching. You can buy these patterns soon and stitch them for your favorite beer lover, which might just be yourself.

I stitched the grouchy ghost for The 2018 Just Cross Stitch Special Halloween Issue. When I was still thinking of unhappy spirits I drank a special bottle of wine from Oso Libre winery which was black. So when it was empty I took off the label and painted this same fellow on the bottle and made it into a vase.

This pattern was inspired by The Little Brown church which I attended as a kid. I spent a lot of time scooting under the pews, and creating my own underground passages, with only legs and feet of fellow churchgoers to interfere with my journeys. This pattern is stitched on 16 ct Water Lily Aida by Wichelt and is available in the 2018 released book, A Cross-Stitch Christmas published by Craftways.
