‘Come here often, gorgeous?’

Clint grins, grabs an empty coffee cup, and turns to face his favourite customer. ‘Every day, open til close. As you know.’

The man in the sharp suit gives him an appreciative full-body glance. ‘Lucky me.’

‘Are you gonna buy something, or you just here to admire the décor? I got a line here.’ He glances meaningfully at the stony-faced, burly men waiting patiently nearby. A lot of these guys keep coming in today, for some reason.

Tony glances at the menu on the wall. In the three weeks Clint has been working here, he’s never ordered the same drink twice. ‘You know what? Surprise me. I’m feeling dangerous today.’ He pays, and Clint whips him up a matcha latte. He’s getting good at those.

As he bends down for the matcha powder, Clint checks that his gun is still taped under the counter.

‘Thanks again, Agent Caffeine,’ Tony says, accepting the cup. ‘Don’t quit your job. I’d have nowhere else to go.’ He winks, then weaves between the crowded tables to take a seat in the corner.

Not much is known about the one they call Iron Man. Intel suggests that he was born into a rich family but turned to a life of crime, hacking millions from bad corporations and using the funds for good – and for advanced personal weaponry. Tony has the swagger, certainly. Clint wonders if he’s aware of the danger in coming here every day, having a regular routine, a favourite table. It’s almost like he’s looking for a fight…

MARVEL PROMPT TIME :D

Prompt: Loki has been an avenger for a few months now, became friends with Clint (He settled their differences and argued that everyone on the avengers got a second chance, so Loki himself should too.), and is making progress making amends with Thor. (Thor has already forgiven Loki, but allows Loki to sort out his feelings and helps him repair damages done.)

One thing about Loki, however, is that he doesn't ever speak up when he needs something he deems a weakness. That being affection, medical attention, or help with anything that confuses him. He seeks nothing out for affection, believing he doesn't deserve it and it makes him weak, he patches himself up after every battle, and if anything confuses him he seeks the knowledge by himself. He just... doesn't understand how to ask for any of it.

One thing that Loki wanted most nowadays was simple, hugs. Loki loves hugs, to be held and feel safe. But more than that, Loki loves to be carried. To be picked up and carried around, held protectively in the person's arms. He missed feeling safe, feeling wanted, although he didn't know how to approach the topic with anyone. So he remained silent about it.

That was until Hulk had picked him up after a battle, when Loki had fractured his knee and was unable to walk. He froze in place with any protests he was about to speak dying in a instant. All the Avengers were immediately concerned, then watched in surprise as Loki calmed down and snuggled up to Hulk. Purring and smiling. Almost in a drunk state, slowly drifting to sleep.

Thor later explains why Loki acted the way he did, throwing in Loki's struggle with being open about what he needs. The Avengers understood everything and unanimously decided to help Loki, by giving him hugs when they could. From Natasha giving Loki a hug from behind, Tony pulling him to cuddle on the couch, to Clint snatching Loki up and carrying him around the tower, no one let Loki feel unsafe or unloved within their home. Cause Loki was family now too.

You can swap the power dynamic around by having Loki be in the progress of redemption and be desperate for Clint's forgiveness

This is especially good if Clint is the LAST person left to offer any sort of kindness to him

Mutual healing and reconcilliation. Clint is the only person who would understand what Loki experienced from the Tesseract

Headcanon - Loki

IMPORTANT INFORMATION RE: CLINT BARTON AND THE EVENTS OF AVENGERS 1

Loki's choice of Clint Barton as his puppet via the Mind Stone was born of a combination of factors. Clint was nearby, clearly an incredible combatant, and also - Loki says this himself - possessed of a great deal of willpower. You have heart.

Being under partial control himself - at the very least having his own mind altered, tampered with, and affected by the Mind Stone - Loki is not operating entirely under his own auspice or desire during the entirety of his time on Earth. He is able to make some choices freely - controlling Clint, revealing himself in Stuttgart - but not all of them - being there in the first place, trying to take over/destroy New York.

Let me repeat: he does not want to be there. If he genuinely wanted to take over all or part of Earth, grand conquest with the Chitauri is not the way he'd go about it. Loki is not an all-out-assault fighter. He never has been. He does not want to be doing this but he also does not have a choice. So he's doing everything he can to make sure someone can stop him.

Enter Clint Barton. You have heart. On the surface, it's almost an insult. You have heart, so I'm going to take it away from you. But then again, it's also You have heart, so you can fight this. And it's also You have heart, so you have allies who will want to stop me to get you back. And - because it's Loki and he's still an asshole - it's also You have heart for trying to attack someone you don't stand a chance against.

He could likely have given Clint the same 'privilege' he himself had, being able to know what he's doing and saying but also being unable to stop himself from doing and saying things he really doesn't want to, but he doesn't. Partially because honestly that's more trouble than its worth but also because he thinks it's more merciful to ensure that Barton has no memory of what happens after the Mind Stone takes control. He's wrong, but that's another problem entirely.

The thing Loki absolutely does not do while Clint Barton is under his control is abuse him, in any way. He can be condescending, yes, absolutely. He is condescending at times. But he does not torture, he does not take undue advantage, he does not treat the man as a pet. Firstly he doesn't have to, and secondly there are lines even Loki will not cross no matter what Thanos does to him. Barton is a tool, certainly, a weapon to be made use of, but he is not a toy and Loki never treats him as such.

Did he severely fuck Clint Barton up mentally? Absolutely; mind control does that to a person. Did he make Clint kill fellow SHIELD agents and plan the assault on the helicarrier? Sure fucking did. Is Clint justified in hating him forever? 10000% yes; Loki will freely admit this himself. But as far as this blog is concerned, there was absolutely zero toying with or torturing Clint Barton in any way.

Frosthawk Moments - Canon

So I made some gifs from some scenes in the first Avengers movie that no one ever talks about. I think most people have completely missed it because I've never actually seen anyone comment on it.

This:

Clint Barton actually hits Loki!

CLINT. HIT. LOKI.

That bullet hits—and then ricochets, and then Loki reacts like this:

He immediately retaliates, and if Clint hadn't ducked out of the way because he's incredibly good at that, he would have been obliterated head-on!

And as we all remember, Clint then gets back up after everyone else has been knocked down, and this moment happens here:

And this? This is when Clint realizes that Loki is far stronger than he was expecting—it's a great bit of acting on Renner's part, because you can see him realize 'holy crap, this guy is something else entirely'. Canonically, Hawkeye is the strongest of all the agents without any 'extras' and he's always been able to handle himself and this is the first time he's been up against something like this.

You can see his expression go from "ow, that hurts" to "wait...what the fuck?" and it's just so damn brilliant.

I always had the thought that Loki was getting irritated because he's aimed at the guy more than twice and not only did Clint dodge, but he got back up to keep fighting! Loki's literally thinking, You keep getting back up! Stop it!

...and I have always been certain that this was the moment he saw something in him.

This is why he said, "You have heart."

I genuinely think Loki was planning on killing him up until that point, but when he saw that this human had such a drive and passion to fight, he knew that this was the right person to protect him. I would like to remind people that Loki was actually still severely incapacitated, it just didn't seem that way because he was still stronger compared to humans.

Then in the scene that occurs right before the deleted scene (which explains so much more) we have this:

Look at how Loki looks at him, almost as though he's measuring just how adept he is and how smart he is. This is when Clint is explaining how he chose the location because they need the three levels of lead-lined flooring to keep S.H.I.E.L.D. from finding the cube. This is Loki realizing he chose the right person because right after this we hear him see, "I see why Fury chose you to guard it," acknowledging just how smart and adaptive he is.

And then there's an entire scene between the two of them that was cut from the final draft.

Which never. Should have been. DELETED.

Take this for instance:

You see all of those people? You see all of that massive set up??

NONE OF THAT WAS LOKI.

Everything that you see in the planning throughout the rest of the Avengers movie that seemed to be Loki was all Clint Barton outsmarting and outwitting S.H.I.E.L.D. He was the one who even came up with the plan for Loki to purposely get himself captured!!

Now let's talk about this scene here:

"I want to know everything you can tell me about this team of his. I would...test their' mettle."

Like...HELLO??? This tells us right here that Clint was the one who gave up all the information and told Loki everything about all of the Avengers! We can glean from the fact that we saw Clint in the first Thor movie (with Coulson) that he has been fully aware of the Avengers way before anyone else knew about it.

He had the most information besides Coulson. Which means that Loki went into his "capture" already knowing all about Clint and Nat's relationship, which also allows us to deduce that he also knew that Natasha was playing him from the beginning! He knew she would figure it out, so he was stalling for time—and that was it!

Then we have this:

Clint: "If you're set on making yourself known...could be useful." Loki: "Tell me what you need."

This is the dialogue that takes place here, and it explains so much. The way they originally cut the movie, it jumps from the scene with Selvig to the dialogue at the tail end of this deleted scene—which now, if you rewatch the movie, you will see is a glaringly obvious cut.

But this entire deleted scene sets up the rest. of the freaking. MOVIE.

This deleted scene shows us that Hawkeye was the mastermind behind not only taking down the helicarrier with only a few arrows, but also the one who planned the entire attack...just to get Loki back out after he triggered the Hulk.

Fury (over comms): "It's Barton. He took out our systems. He's headed for the detention level!"

ALL. CLINT'S. PLAN.

I am of the mind why they cut this scene was solely to put the blame on Loki, because if they had kept this scene in it would have become painfully obvious that Loki wouldn't have made it as far on his own and only made it so far because of Clint.

The cruellest thing is never the knife.

Because she shouldn't be here, the redhead with the sadness in her eyes and the ghost of a smile, a shadow that lures the hawk through the dark.

Because she can't be here and someone must have the audacity to be wearing her face, someone wearing a Widow's veil or perhaps a skrull playing tricks.

No, the cruellest thing is when she waits for him to speak, to be certain that his hearing aid is active, and then her lips purse, and she whistles. Her tune. The one only two other people should know.

It's a distraction that allows a duplicate of her to steal up behind him, inflicting a strong and unpleasantly familiar grip, knife at his throat.

"I'm so sorry, Barton," she whispers as Natasha's original image flickers out. The shape holding him transforms into what it has been all along and the voice of a dead god takes over.

"I'm afraid I need your help again."

Whumptober 2022 - Day 23

At the end of their rope - Forced to kneel

“Well, hello,” a voice said beside Clint. His head snapped around and he stared disbelievingly at the man standing in the doorway. 

“Loki!” He spat and reached for the knife at his belt. Or he tried to because Loki moved his hand and Clint couldn’t move his anymore. 

“Oh, you remember me,” Loki said and walked over to Clint. “Of course you remember me. How could you ever forget me?” 

“Let me go,” Clint snarled. He tried to move his hands but they still didn’t work. 

“No,” Loki said and walked over to him. “I don't think so.” 

He walked around Clint, touched his shoulders with his fingers and then let his hand run over his chest. 

“I’ve missed you, my Hawk,” he grinned and Clint gritted his teeth. 

“I’m not your hawk,” he snapped and tried to shove Loki’s hand away but the Asgardian just chuckled.

“None of that,” he said then. He raised his hand some more and ran along Clint’s face with the back of his fingers and Clint felt the tug to the ground. He tried to resist, tried to fight but Loki’s magic was stronger. And so he sank down to his knees. 

“Let me go!” Clint hissed again. 

“I’ve missed our… other encounters,” Loki smirked. “You’ve been such a good boy, such a good boy.” 

Loki put his hand on the back of Clint’s head and pressed his face against his stomach. 

“Fuck off!” Clint snapped. 

“No,” Loki shook his head, put his finger under Clint’s chin and forced him to look up at him. “No, I don’t think so. I think…” he said and his grin broadened. “I think we’re going to have some fun. Like back then.” 

And with a lecherous smirk on his lips he reached down to open his pants.
