Born to jump
One of my favourite Anna smiles. It was out of pure happiness in a childish heart :D
Special scene in Olaf’s Frozen Adventure!
This scene, during the F1 Flashback in OFA, is so sweet!
The love between the sisters is so evident and Elsa is so at peace and she’s so happy that her powers gave her baby sister such joy! Young Elsa is so pretty I can’t stop staring at her. Her eyebrows move up slightly and she tilts her head back a teeny bit after her blink, which I like to call “brightening”. Anna too is looking at Elsa so sweetly.
I did a frame by frame comparison with F1 and realised this scene is special to OFA and is not present in F1.
In this sequence, firstly, these two scenes are the same (F1 on left, OFA on right). In OFA, it’s just a bit zoomed in, made “misty” for that flashback effect, and Elsa’s hair is a slightly different shade.
The next part of the scene is slightly different. F1 is on the left, OFA is on the right.
They’ve made Anna close her eyes a bit longer and given Elsa an extra blink and smile in reaction to Anna’s hugging of Olaf. Subtle, but very sweet!
The next part of the scene is what you see in the first gif, which is not present in Frozen 1. (In F1, the next scene is that of the sisters “ice skating” on the floor)
It began with two sisters… Their love for snowmen, infinite!
Elsa and Anna dolls
These are the pretty dolls (of themselves) that the girls play with. I think, each sister owned a pair of the dolls. These dolls are present in F1, OFA, F2 and even Ralph breaks the Internet!
There’s one Anna doll and 2 Elsas, probably one more Anna doll is somewhere off screen.
Olaf’s Frozen Adventure:
The dolls are present in a little girl’s room. At this time, the real Anna and Elsa are already adults, so maybe they gave away their dolls or had many made for sale? We’ll never know.
Frozen 2 (Prologue, the same night of Anna’s accident):
In this scene, there are 2 Annas and 1 Elsa. That’s why I think there are 2 pairs of dolls.
Ralph Breaks The Internet:
I only recently noticed this! In the Princesses scene, there are various “dressing tables” for the princesses and this must belong to one of our Arendellian girls, because there’s a pair of dolls, a snow globe (featured in FF, can’t tell what’s in this particular globe) and a bouquet with sunflowers (Anna’s FF flower) and possibly stargazer lilies (Elsa’s FF flower). BTW, I have said this before, but Elsa and Anna do not belong in Disney Princesses! They’re both Queens! Tbh I don’t like the way they were drawn in RBTI because it doesn’t look like them. And in the last scene where the princesses save Ralph from falling, Elsa could have saved Ralph by herself!! I covered that here.
Bonus: I searched hard for the dolls in Frozen Fever but I really can’t find them, so as a consolation, have the clock tower figurines from FF!
Frozen OST//Outtake appreciation
I love how the Lopezes integrate the same/ similar melodies into the F1 original soundtracks and outtakes!
Below is a compilation of the cross references.
1. The bridge sections of Let It Go and Life’s Too Short:
i.e. the part during which Elsa builds the ice palace:-
Let It Go:
Life’s Too Short:
They consist of basically the same melody; Just some differences in the beats, and the melody in Life’s Too Short is tuned down half a step.
2. The openings of Making Today a Perfect Day and Life’s Too Short:
Making Today a Perfect Day:
Life’s Too Short:
3. The opening of For the First Time in Forever, and the start of the 2nd, 3rd and 5th verse of More Than Just the Spare:
For the First Time in Forever:
More Than Just the Spare (Below is the start of the 2nd verse, similar notes in the 3rd and 5th):
4: The openings of Do You Want to Build a Snowman? and We Know Better
(Some resemblance, but not that apparent)
Do You Want to Build a Snowman?: Everything before Anna sings the first line
We know Better: Right before Elsa sings ‘Hello little baby, you’re princess just like me’
The melodies in the outtakes feel like Easter eggs!
Skirts and layers!
Anna wears a lot of layers in most of her outfits.
Frozen 1: in her coronation outfit she wears stockings, pants and her dress has 2 layers. In summer!
In her travel outfit from Oaken’s shop she wears boots, her dress has 2 layers and she has an outer cloak. In her final outfit from F1 she wears boots, pants and her dress has 2 layers.
In contrast, Elsa is wearing one layer, with a slit, and bare legs and heels 😂:
BTW here is some concept art from The Art Of Frozen for Elsa’s pretty heels:
Frozen Fever: Again Anna wears stockings, I think there’s pants, and her dress has 2 layers.
In contrast, our snow queen is again wearing a single layer with a slit and heels.
You can compare and contrast their dresses here. Elsa is cycling with heels on! 🤣
Olaf’s Frozen Adventure: not many screencaps, but I think Anna is wearing boots (?) and her skirt definitely has 2 layers. (I like the red inner colour of the skirt!) Our snow queen is wearing a single layer skirt, with no slit, and bare legs. (And some say, no underwear 😉)
In Frozen 2 it’s not so straightforward, because for much of the movie both girls wear pants under skirts. I can’t find much screencaps of the dress layers for their Some Things Never Change dresses and nightgowns aren’t usually layered, by nature. Oh, BTW, I think it’s because of the Gale scenes that they were given pants! Otherwise you can’t have scenes like this:
For sure, Elsa’s traveling outfit is much thinner and lighter than Anna’s. And it has a peekaboo back! So, here is my collection of screencaps of Elsa’s sexyback.
“The cold never bothered me anyway”
I guess this is one of the reasons why Iduna considered Anna a little rascal :P
- (Unlocking Arendelle: My Treasured Memories)
Almost figured out all the locations in Love Is An Open Door! From the balcony to the stables and the lighthouse.
Here’s another one, the rooftop scene. If we look at the castle, there are 2 places that they could have been (red arrows). If they were at #1, they were facing East (the town); if they were at #2 they were facing West (the mountains).
Note the continuity error - in the castle screencap, the ridge of the roof is “serrated”, and this is not seen in the screencap above.
I think that they are facing the town (ie, #1, facing east) because the background in the screencap below looks like mountains. If they were facing the mountains (ie, #2, facing west), then in the screencap we should see the town, its building and lights in the background, which we don’t.
Just before this rooftop scene, they were doing this:
I used to think this corridor is just a generic corridor in the castle, then I realised there are 4 doors on each side of the corridor, and it’s a fairly narrow corridor. So this might correspond to the 4 rooms, each with triangular windows here:
The horizontal arrow shows the path that they took to slide, then the vertical arrow shows them going up.
Some puzzling thoughts - from the animation, it looks like they stood on some “ledge” to get up to the roof (Hans looks like he gave Anna a boost for her to grasp the roof, and then jumped up by himself)
But there’s no such visible ledge in the castle screencap for them to stand on! Even if you look at the West side - no ledge.
Also, at the end of this scene, Anna literally just slid off the roof:
Where did she slide to? It’s like a crazy trust exercise. Based on the castle screencap she would have slid all the way down the side of the roof and…hit the ground terribly injured.
Lastly, is it just me, or do her dress shoulder straps behave weirdly here (mainly in her back view)? I slowed it down:
