If June, Mark, and Rose had a “so you live with a tiny person” support group…. How would that go?

In Need of Support

A non-canon short with some mild spoilers 💕

Mark groaned, head in his hands as he continued to babble, his words spilling forth like a dam had burst. He'd been quiet at first, listening intently as Rose had explained her living situations, but it wasn't until she had let a complaint slip about her tiny roommate's disdain for touch and all the complications that came with it, that he had felt the compulsion to share his own complaints.

And he had many.

Now, half an hour later, here he was, drowning both himself and the two other unfortunate women in a sea of frustrations he'd let spill forth.

"-AND HE JUST CLIMBS ON ME WHENEVER!" Mark shakes his head in disbelief, eyeing the pair of women like they'd have some miraculous solution, "Oh but God forbid I try and pick him up- then its a personal space issue!!" Running his hands through his hair, Mark huffs, trying, and failing, to sound less hysteric. "To top it all off he's... he's-" Mark makes a strained noise, face contorted in a grimace, as he grits his teeth "-he's always covered in something."

June and Rose exchange a glance at one another, Rose taking a sip of her coffee in attempt to hide the snicker that's been building since Mark had first begun his rant.

"He just shows up on my countertops- my clean countertops- covered in blood, or mud, or the sludge from my gutters-" Mark's voice steadily raises in pitch as he lists of the various substances. Once again Rose moves to sip her coffee. "Just last week he showed up head to toe in slime!!" Rose takes another sip. "And when I asked him what it was, you know what told me??" Mark laughed, though the laughter seemed like the kind of laugh one does when their 10 seconds from committing a felony rather than how one laughs at a joke. June shook her head, while Rose shook in general, desperately try to keep her own laughter internal as she takes yet another sip.

"HE SAID IT WAS 'SLUG SEASON'!! WHAT THE ABSOLUTE F-"

That was it. That was all Rose could handle. Her own internal dam breaks, spilling forth a mixture of laughter and coffee. Rose sputters her drink making a less than graceful exit as she half wheezed, half laughed the mouthful of coffee straight onto the floor.

Mark's rant trickled off, the near silence that followed filled only with Rose's hacking giggles and the occasional less than sincere apology.

Taking a breath, Rose wiped her mouth with her sleeve, before promptly joining the others in the awkward silence.

Rose pats her legs, clucking her tongue as she looks from side to side in hopes one of them will take the attention back off of her.

"Sooo..." She begins, before June interrupts, her words gushing forth even faster than Mark's had,

"I made out with a tiny vampire I found in my room and got way too into it and I,uh, bit him- and now he's been causing havoc in my room and I can't get rid of him, but also he's really hot, so I don't even know if I want to but he keeps stealing and breaking things and I don't know what to do."

Rose can't help the expression that slides onto her face. If it was anything even remotely similar to the expression Mark wore... it was not subtle. Maybe having an annoying little roommate who didn't like to be carried wasn't so bad.

So OG Sans can play the trombone, Underfell! Sans plays a trumpet according to his creator. Do you think any of the other au skeletons play instruments? Part of me wants Swap! Papyrus to play the drums solely so he can make the ba dum tss sound. Other other half of me wants to give him an electric keyboard that is always set to the silly sound effects setting like duck quacks and dogs barking.

Ooooo that's a good question!!! 👀!!!!!!! I have many many thoughts on this and have settled on exactly 0 of them!! (I have multiple opposing headcanons and simply pick and choose whatever I think is funniest/most interesting for the situation)

ONE of them is "all the Sanses play brass wind instruments, and all the Papyri play percussion or strings" (One of the bits in the Papyrus QnA also reinforced this for me)

I love love love the idea of Swap!Pap playing drums!! He also strikes me as a guitar guy tbh (*pointedly looks away from the Bard in Flipping Fate*) I feel like he's also the most likely to own a kazoo or a ukelele though. Maybe even an omatone.

... Funny you mention using a keyboard for silly sounds! In a deleted scene from EOVD, Swapfell!Papyrus has a soundboard lmao. I can also see him playing a cello or bass... (or at least, for the way I write him.) Speaking of the way I write him- I've also made reference to him being a trombone player for a one off gag lol. Bwuuu.

In the same vein of "things I've written about/gestured at before", but I don't think classic Pap ever settles on an instrument. He tries out a bunch but never ends up playing one more than any other. So in a way I can see him with any and all instruments lol.

If sticking by the Sans=Brass rule, I feel like Swap!Sans and Swapfell!Sans would have either a saxophone (more like saxobone) or a tuba. Either combination works in my mind. If not sticking by that rule, I could see Swapfell!Sans playing a string instrument maybe? Or a clarinet lol. Swap!Sans also strikes me as a trumpet guy, if you don't mind overlaps.

Underfell!Papyrus ... I like to think he plays piano :] In contrast to the existing discussions about where the piano falls on the scale between percussion and strings; any instrument is a percussion instrument if you hit it hard enough.

Additionally. I think he was taught to play piano by UF!dyne and you can pry this headcanon from my cold dead hands !!!!!!!

Also as a bonus, I think Horror!Pap would play the harp. No particular reason, I just like the visual of it lol. Horror!Sans probably just... stopped playing his trombone, and after getting his head injury either picks it up again or resorts to humming/tapping along instead because fine motor control is harder for him :p

went to the aquarium soooo: the boys’ favorite aquarium areas

minor cw for two sentence long mentions of drugs (weed)

Sans: shark touch pool with the little guys. also the schooling fish tanks where it’s just fish and corals.

Papyrus: reef touch tanks And the big ocean tank with all the different fish

Red: jellyfish tanks (just like me fr). he likes the low light and quiet. finds the lack of brains amusing.

Edge: any large sea mammal (whales walruses etc.) or the lion fish tank

Blue: sting ray touch tank and penguins. he likes anything interactive so things like a shark bridge walk is also on the list.

Stretch: little reptiles like the small frog exhibits or the port holes you can sit in.

Indigo: the areas with extreme weather demonstrations like the piranha tanks (which happens to be edge’s least favorite area)

Cash: quiet corner of The Big Tank. he like to get blasted and just watch the sharks and rays and fish do their things

Black: orcas dolphins. likes how smart they are

Mutt: shark tunnel. shark tunnel. shark tunnel.

Gold: those smaller tanks with just the tropical schooling fish and like one lobster or something.

Pawn: eels. if there’s an eel in it it’s his favorite.

Mars: deep sea. any part of it as long as it’s quiet and dark. he also appreciates the “ugly” fish. (there’s no ugly fish they’re all lovely babies that deserve kisses)

Jupiter: sea turtles. not really an area or exhibit but it’s his favorite to see. also the little tanks with just sea horses or whatever.

Tommy: stingrays. not in the touch tank though, too many kids. he’ll sit by a larger tank and watch them for a while.

Python: octopi and crustaceans. he likes how smart they are.

For the record: anyone that does smoke has gotten high at least once and gone to vibe, Cash just does it more consistently. They all like the sharks it’s just not their favorites. Loving sharks comes free with the autism.
