It's interesting to hear Metropolis and Gotham called twin cities because nowadays bludhaven is Gotham's sister city.
How do you think people in universe in your au think of them?
Bludhaven: Little sister city :) not as big but still influential. Gotham is the big sister that your little sister always steals clothes and makeup from. Bludhaven leaves your room without closing the door. You tease each other a lot (and would help hide the body.) Non-locals will say Bludhaven is just like Gotham—like when someone says you and your sibling look alike—and you will vehemently deny it, but deep down you know it’s true. You’re two peas in a pod :)
Metropolis: Enemy. Rival. Fuck you. See this fuckin’ line? (The River.) Cross it, and you’re dead. You’re coworkers and NOTHING ELSE! But then you have to go on a work trip, and there’s only one bed. Out of spite, you sleep on the floor, and they sleep in the tub. Both of you have back problems the next day, but it’s better than being in the same room together. (You got drunk and made out with them at a work function once. Both of you remember but refuse to mention it. It will happen again.)

I must be so fucking annoying be Robin in Gotham because everyone fucked your dad and they cannot stop talking about the fact they fucked your dad and the ones do didn't (joker) can't stop talking about it how much they want to.
But your dad is Batman so you think, "well at least when I'm not in costume I can have peace right?" but your wrong because you dad when is out of costume is also fucking Bruce Wayne.

Oh boi even more of One au in like 3 hours lol
I like to think that like how in @phoenixcatch7's Doll au there's gas versions of like cures and such in the batfam's gas masks since they don't need to breath when possessing the puppets right? I like to think there's an organic version of that with the meat puppet bodies, at least with Bruce, where the plates on his neck opens up into vents of sorts, pictured here with a few spikes removed for visibility reasons.
This gas could be some cures for like Joker venom & Fear gas and such, or it could also be sedatives, paralytics, could even vary between each member. (For example in the Cryptidverse Steph has Anesthetics on her claws, Jason has reflective powder that mimics embers/sparks, Cass has paralytics, etc).
Honestly I am just brainstorming so this could definitely change lmao
I do like to think they start developing their own venom though, gotta' have those fangs & tusks for some reason lol

if you accept the idea that Gotham is in New Jersey, you should know that there is a city called New Haven. The existence of which heavily implies that Bludhaven is in Connecticut and you should also know that I hate everything about this

No because Bruce needs Dick so much.
Remember in Hush when Bruce was beating himself up over the fact that he almost killed Joker (again), and Dick was there to reassure him that he didn't end up acting on his impulse. To which Babs then interrupted their talk and was like, "Guys? If you're all through with the male bonding..."
Don't even get me started on the fact that Bruce didn't reveal his identity to Selina until Dick suggested he should. Bruce even credited Dick while talking to Selina.
Bruce: A few days ago I buried a dear friend.
Selina: I... I'm sorry.
Bruce: It's been suggested that I'm handling it well because I have you in my life.
Selina: I have a fan? Is it the little bird or the bigger one?
Bruce: Nightwing.
What's funny is that Dick told Bruce that he should shave before having that conversation with Selina, and Bruce didn't. So then Selina commented on Bruce's beard after he pulled off his cowl, and Bruce thought, Dick was right. I should have shaved...
Shit like that makes you go, "Ah, yeah, that makes sense," whenever Bruce goes absolutely ballistic after something bad happens to Dick. Like hey. That's his kid. His confidant. One of his best friends. Lay a hand on him and Bruce will have a fucking crisis over it.

Y’all ever think about what could have happened to Dick after Chemo? Like the man was high key exposed, what if he got permanent damage? With what chemo was made of he could have gotten a lot of different kinds of cancer, radiation poisoning or literally so many other things. If we were still in that timeline we never really would have known if Dick was walking around with a latent disease that could have sprung up.
Im reading far too much into this, but it would be incredibly interesting to explore further.
Anybody know any fics like this??

one thing i absolutely admire about dick grayson as a character is the battle between his perfectionism/need-to-please and intense independence because it yields the willingness to make mistakes ONLY if someone else is trying to protect him from making them

pondering a titans rewrite. anyway i like the idea that jason shows up in the first season (which is dick-centered/Gotham&bludhaven-centered) like three times. first to establish dick’s strained connections and jealously over his robin mantle being taken from him, and bruce replacing him so easily after firing him. secondly for jason and dick to begin to connect as well as jason and gar to become friends since the original titans show seemed to want to imply that but then did nothing with it. and then the last time jason appears it’s because he ran away from Bruce and is looking to find his mother, sheila, but probably gets distracted in helping the titans. and then jason leaves to go find sheila and, well. i think we know what happens next

it's fodder for excellent drama but let's admit it, hush and war games and identity crisis and under the red hood all happening in relatively close succession is insanely funny. just bruce speedrunning the worst fucking 365 days of his life. they should release a compilation book of all four and just title it 'batman and the terrible horrible no good very bad year'

ok I'm NOT much of a DC reader but your dukeblogging has convinced me. but do you have a reading list (DC has more crises than I do. it's intimidating) by any chance
YEAHAHSJS
Ok so like Im not a REAL dc blogger so I don’t really have my own reading list; I basically focus heavily on black characters across the board and then dive into wherever they’re from but I usually use other reading lists to do it and go at my own (slow ass) pace. For DC i started fandom only and then moved on to actually reading comics which is why my opinions are so strong there bc I KNOW WHAT YALL ARE LIKE!
Sorry but now for Duke specifically I KNOW there’s a specifc blogger who’s list I followed down to the T but I cannot remember their url rn so here’s a list/chart that has like. Listings for him specifically
That’s mostly to follow timeline but for me I think to get his character down u could do all star Batman, Batman and the signal, the outsiders, WAR and then branch out from there (but also saying this as someone who’s read most of it so like maybe I’m biased and missing or forgetting smth). I’m sorry if this isn’t helpful but as SOON as I find that reading list I’m posting it bc I swear I literally went down that list one by one.
Edit: the tags are part of the answer but I ran out of room so post tags;
- tbh when it comes down to it I personally try to absorb character by character and then put them all together at the end; it’s what I’m currently doing with green arrow (I know it’s been months y’all don’t call paw patrol I’m STUPID) and my plan for moving forward but also fully acknowledging this sucks as a way to interact with other established fans however. Other established fans have proven to be racist and misunderstand characterization and character interaction on a fundamental level SOMETIMES (BC y’all get mad) bc they’re so focused on their faves so in conclusion If I don’t find the specific lists I used I’d get them from stan blogs and then be careful cause u know everyone’s using their faves BEST comics so just remember this is what THEY think is the best or most accurate Interpretation and u don’t have to agree (RR the road home and YJ98 sorry to be shitting on them again. Not even them but how ppl read them. Diff story tho)
-but also despite me obviously shitting on certain characters runs or interpretations I think the best thing you could do is give everyone a fair chance. Blank slate in ur mind if ur JUST starting and see where u go from there but also remember to check ur biases and think about WHY certain things get included or retconned or explained away bc that’s where a lot of ppl falter in thinking their fave is just misunderstood or smth.
FOUND THE LIST sorry this has been in and out for the drafts while searching so in conclusion FR;
I hope this helped but I think I sound insane just please read these <3

Hey quick question from someone who knows next to nothing about comics beyond the standard shit.
Does Dick Grayson ever get a villain arc?

Look, I love Nightwing, he my favorite character from DC comics and I think he is quite neat but maybe DC should like kill him off for a few months or sideline him because OMG.

Why did nobody tell me blockbuster was so fucking ugly
Edit: okay so I read a bit ahead and now I feel sort of bad about calling him ugly, it's obviously a source of insecurity for him

love it when people throw out 34 issues worth of comics because the writer gave the protagonist ONE (1) trait that they disagree with. yeah, let’s ignore the message about hope, trust and willingness to help that is quintessential to dick grayson’s character because seeley made dick have too many girlfriends. that alone makes everything dick does during those 34 issues ooc. yes, seeley’s grayson run was awful and objectified dick way too much, but how about we actually condemn seeley’s nightwing’s run for its actual sins. like for example, the vaguely leftist villian that has some points but also decides to kill puppies which means he’s evil? or abandoning dick’s plot with the run-offs by the end by making them more of shawn’s support cast? and yeah, also the plot with huntress because that was really dumb, im not defending that.
just.
if i see yet another critisism of a comic that’s basically “x character is ooc which means whole run bad” i'm going to LOSE MY GODDAMN MIND
