Enraged
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova x reader
Summary: You’ve never seen your husband this enraged...
A/N: loosely based on this scene from Netflix’s The Crown
You had seen your husband mad, you had seen him livid, even, but this…this was a new level of anger and rage.  Shadows pooled at his feet, crawled up his legs, twitched at his fingers.  Aleksander was…there were no words to describe how angry he was.  That anger had sparked when you entered his study with tears coursing down your face, and had grown a hundred fold when he learned what had caused them.
One of King Pytor’s advisors had blatantly insulted you: called you a litany of horrific names, questioned your power, your standing, and Aleksander’s love for you.  “She’s nothing but a half-witted whore,” he’d said.  “And a Lieutenant!  Saints know that’s only because the General thinks she’s a half-decent lay.  Does she even have powers?  She claims she’s a Heartrender, but it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s as powerless as the trash on the street.”
He didn’t know you’d been just around the corner, didn’t know you were listening.  Aleksander had taught you how to stand up for yourself, how to command respect, but in that moment, you felt so broken, so weak, so torn down by the advisor’s words, that all you could do was flee.  Straight into your husband’s arms, whose concern had morphed into white-hot rage when he learned what that bastard had said.
Aleksander summoned him immediately, his shadows jumping angrily.  They would see bloodshed, they knew, and they were hungry for it.  “Go to our rooms, Y/N,” your husband managed, his voice strained and clipped.  His anger was not directed at you, you knew, and you knew it was taking everything in him to keep from razing the Palaces to the ground.  “I don’t want you to see this.”
You pressed a kiss to Aleksander’s cheek before obliging, but before you could take more than a step into the hall, you heard the advisor enter, and you lingered outside the door.  “General Kirigan,” he said.  “What is it?”  “Advisor…”  “Lenkov, sir.”  “Ahh, Advisor Lenkov.  I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve summoned you here.”  “Indeed I am, General.  I have no dealings with your Second Army.”
Aleksander chuckled, and you watched as shadows slithered into the room.  “No, you do not.  However, it has come to my attention that some…choice words were spoken about someone very close to me.  Inflammatory words, insulting words, and you, Advisor Lenkov, are the culprit.”  Lenkov blanched, he knew he’d been caught.  But rather than confess and spare himself, he merely asked, “Who are you referring to?”
Your husband’s voice was dark, dangerous when he replied, “Y/N.”  It would have been the wise choice for Lenkov to admit his crime, to apologize, but the advisor was not a wise man.  He rolled his eyes, flaring Aleksander’s temper.  “Why would I care about her?”  “Because I care about her!” your husband roared, his fury rattling the glass in their window panes.  “Morning, noon, and night, I care about her!  And you’ve hurt her!”
His next words were quiet, threatening: “And if you hurt her…you hurt me.”  Aleksander called his shadows, forming a wreath around his clenched fist.  “Allow me to make one thing explicitly clear: when someone hurts my wife, I have a vendetta against them.  I don’t care that you’re the King’s advisor, I don’t care if you’re the fucking King himself, no one insults my wife and gets away with it.”
Aleksander flicked his wrist, and Lenkov screamed.  Your husband had fashioned a blade from his shadows, not the Cut, but a small, deadly sharp knife, one that would be called “kind steel” in the slums of Ketterdam.  The advisor’s eye  had been pierced, and when Aleksander twisted, the advisor fell to his knees.  “The next time I catch wind of you whispering such filth about my wife,” Aleksander snarled.  “It won’t be your eye you lose, it’ll be your life.”
Hurried footsteps were heard retreating from the room, and you threw open the door, finding your husband breathing heavily, a trail of blood exiting the room where Lenkov had fled.  “Sasha…”  “I thought I told you to go to our rooms,” he said, but his shoulder sagged upon hearing your voice.  You walked into his arms, clutching him to you tightly.  His shadows dissipated, sated now that he’d defended you and that you were in his arms.  “I love you,” you whispered, and your husband only held you tighter.
When Lenkov arrived at court a week later, he wore a patch over his missing eye, inky black scars peeking out from beneath.  The entire court had heard of what had happened, and while no one said it aloud, the sentiment was clear.  General Kirigan was not a man to be crossed, especially when he came to his wife.

In episode 4x07 there is a kiss. Alas, McRollins one 😉 But this kiss... It's this one that screams so much "IT'S SO DAMN FORCED!". It's this one that screams it in the loudest way and when I look at it I'm like "Yeah, I always thought all McRollins kisses looked bad but this, this one shows how much awkward they all are".
Tumblr media
"It's just a kiss", you can say. But not in my eyes. It's not only forced, it's... creepy. Ok, I know that in this episode Lenkov wanted us to believe how much Steve loves Cath and that he's full of negative vibes here (or: hidden not hidden tension) cause he worries about Cath's safety. Well... Let me ignore it, please. I can't believe it, I really can't, ok, Steve cares about people (more than about himself and in some cases too much), but in this scene I just see Steve trapped (and feeling uncomfortable) in relationship with Cath. And in that scene I only see that he's again pissed off and hurt and again - he can't trust her, he doesn't trust her.
When I look at Steve's expression in this scene, at his body language, at Cath... Geez, I don't see partners. I see soldiers - but not "buddies" ones. Call me like you want but that's what I see. Steve in this relationship is often like "Yes, sir!" - or rather: "Yes, madame!". Even when he disagrees, when he has enough etc. - he "can't" do anything. Cath has a fucking power. Cath always can make him... this. Her "good boy". Her "boy that always forgives, always waits for her - even after breakup". She's like "come here, give me a kiss and be a good loyal boy" - and he does it though his body, his eyes, all betrays him. All screams "He is so irritated but he can't break free".
Tumblr media
This photo above. She puts her hands on him, oh, she literally pulls him towards her and she's like "now give me a kiss and be ok" ("don't think about your issues, ok, just be a big boy"). He stands still, his muscles, all his body is tense. His jaw - clenched. His face - not happy, not excited. Eyes - *she's coming, she's coming closer, mayday, mayday...*.
But she is closer and closer and she hypnotizes him again with Say Yes, Sailor gaze. She makes him feeling guilty. And they kisses and Steve is still like a rock, he just stands still, closes eyes and touches her lips - it's like focusing on a task, focusing on his mission, Steve looks here like famous "close your eyes and think of England". (or: "You started this relationship so suffer now").
Tumblr media
Her face. Have I already told you how much I dislike Cath's (cause it's never about Michelle, of course) grimaces? No? So now you know. Just look at this one. And at her gaze. "Well... Good boy. Good job, sailor". (can I mention that she also looks like a spider looking at a fly? well...). It's not only in that scene, oh no, I see these grimaces literally in every McRollins scene. But here she just looks like a Very Officer Lady trying to tame her soldier (I would even say: toy soldier - cause imo sometimes she treats him like her toy, like her property, like someone "granted" - but it is, as f.e. her being Doris 2.0 or worse, another issue).
And Steve?
Tumblr media
"Yes, Madame". *SMILE* But it's not even a smile. It's a forced grimace. It's a mask. Look at his jaw, his cheeks. All is damn tense there. He grits his teeth. He's nervous and his muscles (especially facial ones) show that well. Look at his neck. At his cold "I have enough" ("Stop playing with me") gaze. Cath sees the smile and she doesn't care about the eyes. She doesn't care about "mirror of the soul".
Each damn time when they kiss (or have an argument) I feel this. That they're like Soldier and his Madame. That all their relationship just sucks - and they both know it (oh, she knows well he doesn't love her, she doesn't love him either, and that his needs aren't her needs and so on, she knows he has his issues, his own mess... but she stays and stays and makes it worse, she starts playing, messing with Steve and after breakup she is that one who is like "oh, don't be angry, boy, kiss me, let's have sex, let's be together again"). That Steve is forced to do it (he's a bit guilty too, I get his issues but... still - guilty too, yeah, but not as much as Catherine, what she did to him and after that... geez, I have no words - ok, I have 😉). That he doesn't really love her. That he regrets dating her. And fucking her. He doesn't wanna be lied all the time (and he needs to stop lying to himself). He can't respect, like and love her like he respects, likes and loves Danny. He can't trust her like he trusts other people (all around, all Ohana, are more, moooore, honest than her). He doesn't wanna be someone's toy. He needs to escape but... he can't. He needs some help. And still, he can't leave people just like they leave him.
Sometimes I think that the only thing they have in common is Navy. Oh, not sometimes. All the time.
And Danny? Ayy, with Danny all is so different. All these almost-kisses (at Governor's charity party, in Korea, in Afghanistan, in AU episode, at the dinner with Matt...) are so real, so beautiful, so sincere. So full of real love, real warmth and friendship, partnership and trust. So full of real desire and chemistry. And of "it's eternal", "you're the most important" "we dream about the same" "I'll never hurt you" promise. This is what Steve really wants. This makes him really happy, this makes him calm. And Danny saying "I can give you a kiss, just pick a base" in season 7? Oh, that was like a dream. Steve's face said it all. He was so relaxed, so happy, so safe when Danny said it, when they soon hugged. Danny... With his Danny it will never be like with Cath.

Nahele becoming a SEAL like Steve!?!?
😭😭😭😭😭
Not gonna lie, I kind of LOVE the idea of Nahlele becoming a SEAL just like Steve even though I pictured him becoming a chef or something. I never pictured Nahele joining the military.
But now I'm imagining Nahele quietly and nervously telling Steve he wants to become a SEAL and Steve being terrified and surprised but supportive. Steve and Danny seeing him off at the airport. Steve giving him something from his military days like maybe his dog tags or something idk. The whole team going to his graduation 😭 God I'm getting emotional picturing it.
I'm very conflicted and very emotional
I miss Nahele

Me: I think I will watch the end of Hawaii 5-0, but first let me check the McDanno tag...
Me: *sees there was queerbaiting*
Me: *sees that Steve’s character was ruined*
Me: *sees that they let Catherine call Danny Danno*
Me: Nope. I am good. I don’t need that shit in my life right now.

It doesn’t matter whether TPTB knew months ago or just weeks ago that 10.22 will be the series finale. There is no universe in which having Catherine in it, and in that moment, makes narrative sense or constitutes good writing.
After Steve reads Danny’s text, he could have replied I miss you too. Fade to black.
And they would have had a completely serviceable ending. They would have appeased the McDanno fans, the casual viewers and even the homophobes.
But they didn’t. Instead they decided on a last eff you to the characters, actors and fans. So eff them very much back and I will continue to consume content from people who know a good thing when they have it. And treat it and me right.

Today on “uploading stuff I didnt previously upload because I wanted to finish it later but then I never did”.
Heres a animation I did of Alessi way back I did, basically just to see how long it would take. It took 4 days and I got really depressed about it for some reason.

I love h50 1-7 and Danny so much. But with every rewatching I roll my eyes more and more. Because of Danny. Because of the way Lenkov & Co. portray him. I mean this:
Danny: Ugh, I hate running so much! Swimming? Seriously? No, please, not that way! Oh, my poor legs. My poor lungs. My poor back. My poor bones. My poor everything.
Some characters: Danny, you behave like old grumpy man ha ha ha.
Danny: I'm old. And tired. And...
Lou: Danny is the weakest link of Five-0.
I hate it. Danny is a COP, the hell! A super cop - he's in a super special team! He's a cop. Being a cop = running, swimming, all can happen. Being a cop, a special cop = you CAN do this, your body CAN do this, if not - you should change your job (or go to paper work only).
I know, I know. Danny always can. He runs. He swims. He does all what he has to. He fights. He definitely can be a badass like Steve and others. He's awesome. He's a great detective. He's smart. He sees many details. Etc. He shows many times that Lou is wrong. Danny isn't the weakest. Danny is second in command and Steve treats him like someone equal. Many times it's Danny who saves the day. Many times Danny pushes the limits. Many times Danny is a berserk, a hero - especially when Steve and Ohana are in a danger. And I love it. But I hate that Danny is often showed in that irritating way. Like f.e. pilot who always says "I hate flying! I hate clouds! I hate heights! I hate planes!" ;/ I hate making Danny a grumpy old man forever and a cop who is a cop (and in Five-0 team) by fucking accident 🙄
He's young (he's not his grandpa!), he's got a good life, he's really super cop, super friend, super man etc. but no, Lenkov prefers to show Danny as that fucking "so old" "so tired" "so annoying" sidekick. And as that irritating "I'm a super cop but I'm not sure about it". And I hate Lou's words. I hate treating Danny as someone who can't, who seems to be weak/weaker, who is just a pretty delicate Jersey boy, someone who would never do this and that and so on.
I'm sorry for that rant but seriously, it's so painful to watch Danny in such situations. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's not funny only in my eyes, maybe it's fine... but I don't like it. I don't like showing Danny as someone worse/less than other Five-O, worse/less than Hawaiian people and so on. I don't like showing Danny as "hahahahah comic relief/parody of a cop". I can't like it.
Just thanks goodness that there are also these moments showing that Danny deserves better.

I had an anon ask point out that we have a ton of gay shit to work with from series finale, and I had initially responded positively to that, because they are right.
im not pointing out the anon or attacking them, but I've been thinking all of this over, and I think I figured out why it doesnt sit well with me - that is, why all of the steve/danny content doesn’t, for me, even begin to make up for the ending.
over the last ten seasons, we have always been fed with bits and pieces of danny and steve’s relationship and love for each other. there are but a few episodes that really stand out, like the couples resort, the one with both of their girlfriends on valentines day, the “you-almost-died” episodes, et cetera. beyond those, no episodes of h50 are ever really filled with constant mcdanno content, rather peppered in with little comments and “I love you”s and small touches.
we spent season after season taking those small moments and analyzing them, creating our own content and meta and theories based on them. but the difference is, with the series finale, the episode was filled to the brim with typical trope-y, emotional moments that, bar the ending, could really only translate into “I choose danny over everything” scenario.
but looking back, now I can pick out the little mcdanno moments and say, with almost full certainty, that they were done intentionally, but with the wrong intentions. and its so easy, now, to look at the finale and say that lenkov had known what he was doing the whole time.
of course, you may say, “oh that’s obvious,” but he still managed to string us along. fuck lenkov.
with regards to the last episode, all of the moments between danny and steve are gorgeous. the praying, hand-holding, the dropping-everything-for-danny, the holding danny’s head in steve’s lap... oh my gosh, it’s straight out of every fanfic I've ever read.
but everything was calculated. every little tiny mcdanno moment throughout all ten seasons was put there for a reason, and lenkov knew what he was doing when he chose all of the aforementioned things to happen, he knew how a majority of his audience would react. and it just feels dirty and slimy, to watch those scenes, even with an objective pair of eyes, because the real purpose behind all of the mcdanno moments were to make us believe we were finally getting what we wanted.
it is truly sadistic, in a way. lenkov knows his audience, and is scarily good at being able to give us exactly what we want. every little thing was calculated, like I had said on another person’s post: think about danny’s injury, and how he was purposely given a cane, and the camera showed him wincing as he got up to hug steve. what about the fact that steve left a week after danny almost died? this makes it impossible for danny to chase after steve, so the moment you see steve on a plane, your heart drops - not because he’s leaving, but because danny has been rendered powerless.
and the small parallel between danny and steve’s hand holding, with steve and c*th’s? the desperation versus the comfort? I mean, it’s all right there!
every little danny/steve moment was chosen, but not to commemorate the 10 years, 10 seasons of partnership and ohana, but to remind the audience that despite all of that development, nothing is more important than a fairytale happy ending, getting the girl and the “peace.” nothing, not even the safety of one’s best friend, family, partner... is as important as getting the girl in the end (remember, everyone knows steve’s weakness is danny, who was, when steve left, barely able to get up from his chair). even if that girl completely abandoned you and betrayed your trust. even if that means the other half of the show, the one who had showed steve the meaning of ohana, had been left without a proper ending, and completely disregarded. but hey, steve got the girl of his dreams in the end, right? that’s what the 10 years of hawaii five-0 were leading towards, right?
as much as I want to enjoy the poetic moments, where steve prays to G-d to take him instead of danny, or every other little moment, I can’t help but remember that we were all duped, manipulated into being passionate about the two of them by way of purposefully curated little moments throughout the 10 years of the show running. I love danny and steve because anything that stems from genuine partnership and found family immediately has me wrapped around its finger, but it doesn't negate the fact that after all that’s said and done, I can confidently say that lenkov knew what he was doing all along. maybe this isn’t news to you - it isn’t really for me, either - but now that the show is over, it couldn’t be more clear, and that’s what scares me. lenkov isn’t hiding it, not really.
I'm not gonna stop loving the show. I dont think most of us will. I just think it’s important to recognize the intention behind all of it, and with that, it makes it harder for me to enjoy the few moments that we do actually have with regards to the finale. I know this is a shitty thing to say, but I felt like I had to say it.
