Confused about this...

Over 2 years ago I applied to multiple positions within a hospital to get my foot in the door with them. Instead, I got a job at a medical billing facility (what I wanted to do anyway) and have been incredibly happy there.

For SOME REASON, just this past week I've gotten a bunch of rejection letters from the hospital. Like, thanks for the notice I didn't get the job???? 🤣🤣 I didn't even remember applying for some of those positions as it was so long ago.

Why even bother telling me I didn't get it at this point? It's been TWO YEARS! Somehow, it feels worse to get a rejection letter this late than to have not gotten one at all. Did someone just go through all the applications kept on file within this one week??? Does anyone here know what could have happened? It's so weird.

I had to quit.

I couldn’t deal with the way that place was treating me. One week I’m working just under 39 hours and given a bunch of shit that’s impossible to do on my own, the next I’m told my raise request didn’t go through for bullshit reasons, and that all my coworkers get paid 12 an hour while I make less. I’m a key, I’m supposed to be paid MORE THAN A CASHIER.

Then they’d schedule me one day a week for 3 and a half hours and I couldn’t even use that paycheck for more than gas, and then suddenly while having plans on those scheduled days off they’d call and get MAD that I couldn’t cover a shift, when that’s not my fucking problem

A bunch of other shit too. I’m done, I quit. I was broke working these last few weeks and im empty in the pockets now but it’s better than going to a place that is abandoning me and setting me up for a mental break down

So i hear you wanna hear about my time at Best Buy

A few years ago i worked for the Best Buy in Round Rock, Texas and hurricane Harvey was hitting Houston and in Austin (where we were). Despite the fact the computer staff was almost ALWAYS understaffed, for some reason they had all the team on board that day.

It was raining, HARD. I get a text from my now ex freaking out because their family lived in Houston who was getting it WAY worse. I went to my boss like "hey so it's a hurricane outside, my (ex) is having a panic attack, and we have a full staff here I'm leaving". To which my GM said "alright hope everything with them is okay!" And let me leave, while the sales floor manager gave me a look and a "Why though, you can't do anything for them right now".

Fast forward a few months to a supervisor interview, where the person interviewing me said someone like "We aren't going to promote you even if your team is the best in the district and you're the best seller in the store, we don't feel like you're dedicated to the business enough. You take a lot of days off and you left early during that hurricane, like, you couldn't do anything there you should have worked".

That was the moment that broke me there and i knew i was out. A month later i had a new job and put in my resignation right before Black Friday. The GM threw a FIT, including bad mouthing me in front of customers even though he literally denied me both a promotion and a lateral job change to geek squad, where i really wanted to go.

I ended up helping out for the holidays too, but in the most "i don't give a fuck" way, including the last day where I slept after my other job and got a call like "uhhh are you coming in" and i said "lol no"

I have worked in six different grocery stores in various towns and cities and heres something I noticed.

Every. Single. Sunday. Is crazy busy. Its almost double how busy Saturdays are. For some reason thats the day EVERYONE chooses to shop.

Every Sunday. Every store.

And every Sunday I hear so many people complain about how busy it is.

Here's an idea!

Go another day. Like literally ANY other day. Ideally mid week like Tuesday thru Thursday. Unless one of those days is senior discount day at that particular store, then its busy PLUS people are super slow.

If Sunday is the only day you can make it, you gotta just deal with it. Grow up, shut up, and stand in line like you learned in kindergarten.

If I don't have to leave my house, I stay home. Because even clothing stores are busy on Sundays.

Still thinking about that time my manager discriminated against me and violated the union contract about prioritizing seniority when it comes to promotions and she said that she didn't want to promote me to a coordinator while blaming my autistic traits but then expected me to do every single thing a coordinator would do WITHOUT the pay raise amd WITHOUT the training while also denying me access to breaks and lunch and then the union found out and I got compensated for discrimination AND missed breaks, she got moved to a different department, and then she got fired.
