Remember: fantasy races are not just humans with pointed ears or tusks or thirty inches less height. They are fucking aliens that happen to live on the same planet as a population of humans. Give them strange coloring, subtly different proportions and features, and above all, alien psychology.
When you live for hundreds of years, what changes about how you spend your time? When you are the size of an unusually muscular toddler when full-grown, what changes about how you behave in conflicts? If you heal any wound not inflicted by acid or fire, how do you experience pain?
The principle might be called “Wookiees not furries”. They are not just anthropomorphic cartoon animals that have human culture and expectations. Even though they look sorta like that, they are beings from an entirely different world with their own life-history and set of instincts.

If i see one more person spread “news” sourced to outlets like f1-insider… please actually pay attention to sources and use critical thought about where it came from. these accounts want their engagement numbers and will share information derived from a fucking reddit comment if they think it’ll earn them a few extra dollars. there’s always an off chance these bullshit tabloids are right, but they almost never are, and a legitimate source will come along if there’s any whisper of truth to it. i just beg of people to simply wait for sources with the slightest bit of credibility to their name before they start sharing information.

Sooo much "original fiction vs fanfiction" discourse would be more bearable if people replaced "original fiction" with "published fiction" and "fanfiction" with "unpublished/self-published fiction". Also distinguishing between "professional writing" and "hobby writing"
So many arguments that "fanfiction is bad" have nothing to do with them being derivative works and everything to do with the fact that there is no quality control on most self-publishing sites
