You grunt with effort under Billy’s arm as you try to lead him to the car.
“You are a lot heavier than you look.” you groan, attempting to keep him upright as you walk down the stairs.
“Are you calling me fat?” He asks, looking down at you, through half-lidded eyes. You chuckle dryly.
“I’m definitely not calling you skinny.” You shoot back, causing Billy to smirk down at you.
“It’s all muscle, sweetheart.” he purrs. You roll your eyes, doing your best to keep one arm around him and open the passenger door at the same time. Being this close to him, his scent invades your nostrils. His cologne is overpowering, mixed with the coppery smell of blood.
You feel the muscles in his abdomen shift under your palm as your other hand pulls open the door. You move to position him in the car but he manages to catch himself on the frame, stopping himself from falling into the seat. He tries to level his eyes on you but they are still unfocused from the drugs in his system.
“Why are you taking me with you?” He asks. You shake your head, resisting the urge to snap at him. Time is of the essence. Sighing, you respond evenly.
“Because it’s too dangerous to leave you here alone when you can barely stand up.” you explain. Billy quirks an eyebrow.
“Dangerous?” He questions. You roll your eyes, growing more anxious by the second.
“That’s what I said. Now get in.” you demand, giving him a light shove into the passenger seat. He falls backwards, sprawling across the seat. He mumbles something as he struggles to get fully seated in the car. You close the door after him and quickly rush to the driver side. Hopping in, you fasten your seatbelt and throw the car in reverse. Billy curses as you whip out of the driveway, the force sending him flying into the door.
“Jesus Christ!” He exclaims, bracing his arms on either side of him as you speed down the dirt road. “No wonder you walk everywhere!” He yells. Ignoring him, you focus on the road.
“Buckle your seat belt.” You instruct flatly. Billy scoffs. But, with a small sense of satisfaction, you hear his seatbelt click into place.
After a few minutes of silence, you hear Billy shift next to you. Glancing over to him, you see his eyes trained on you in the dim light of the car. His gaze is intense and when your eyes lock with his for a moment, it makes your heart jump. Looking away, you clear your throat.
“Where are we going?” Billy asks, breaking the silence. Your grip on the steering wheel tightens at the thought of the danger you are racing towards.
“Merrill's farm.” You say, keeping your eyes on the road.
“The pumpkin patch?” He asks, confused.
“Yes.” You confirm. You can still feel his eyes on you in the darkness, but refuse to look at him.
“You look terrible.” He comments flatly. You laugh, but it sounds more like a harsh bark.
“God! You’re such a charmer!” You respond sarcastically. “Is everything that comes out of your mouth an insult?” You ask.
“I didn’t mean it like that.” Billy cuts you off. “I just meant… you look exhausted.” he explains half-heartedly. You pause a beat, taking in his words. You know that you must look like a mess, covered in dirt, sweat, and blood, you haven't slept in days, too worried about staying alive to think about anything else. You sigh, Billy sounds genuine.
“I’m sorry…” you apologise. “It’s-It’s been a long couple of days.” you say, softening your tone. There is another pause of silence and you think you hear Billy mumble something.
“What was that?” You ask, glancing at him. There is no response as Billy’s head rolls back against the seat, his eyes closed. His face is so relaxed, he looked so much younger this way, you think to yourself before looking back to the road. You can’t be sure, but his mumble sounded a lot like ‘I’m sorry’...
In the silence your mind turns back to Steve and the kids. You chew on the inside of your cheek as you press harder on the gas, hoping you arrive before they do anything too dangerous.
Your stomach twists in knots as you approach the farm. Turning into the field you can see the taillights of Billy’s camaro. Drawing closer you can see the large hole Hopper had dug to reach the tunnels. Stomping on the brakes, the car skids to a halt next to the idling camaro. The jolt throws Billy forward, waking him up.
“Where are we?” He grumbles, half-awake. You look around, searching for any sign of the kids. There is nothing. Swallowing your fear you hop out of the car. It is hard to see, the only light coming from the car headlights.
“Steve?!” You yell into the darkness, looking around. There is no response. Walking closer to the hole you look over the edge, your stomach drops at the sight of a single rope trailing from the camaro down into the crevice.
“What’s going on?” you hear Billy ask drowsily from the car. Rushing back over to the car you get in, turning to Billy.
“Billy, listen to me.” you instruct, grabbing him by the collar to get him to focus on you. “This is very important. I need you to stay in the car. If anything happens, I need you to run and find either Joyce Byers or Jim Hopper.” you instruct. You know that he most likely won't remember what you are telling him but there is no way you can take him with you. His brows draw together as he tries to comprehend your words.
“What? No, I’m coming with you.” He says, his blue eyes shining in the moonlight. You grit your teeth, shaking your head.
“This isn’t a joke Billy.” You say firmly. His eyes scan your face and he must see something there, either that or he can feel your hands shaking against his collar, because he nods in understanding.
“Good.” you say, letting go of his shirt. Stepping out of the car again, you reach for your pistol, your heart skips a beat. It’s not there. Suddenly you remember dropping it on the floor when you saw Billy. You curse yourself for not realising you had left it sooner. Rushing to the trunk you open it, searching for anything that could be used as a weapon. Your hands finally feel the cold metal of the tire iron.
It will have to do.
“Fuck.” you curse, feeling the heavy metal in your palm, you grasp it firmly, turning to the hole.
Rushing back to the opening in the earth you slide down the slope. You hear yelling in the distance, and as you peer into the dark hole you see a flash of light. In all of the commotion you can make out Steve’s deep voice yelling at the kids to run.
“Steve!” You yell, seeing the group come into view below you. You are relieved to see them but their panicked screams quickly chase the feeling away.
“They’re coming! Quickly! Pull them up!” Steve yells. You need no further explanation. Grabbing Max’s arms as Steve lifts her up. You pull her the rest of the way out of the hole before grabbing Lucas and then Mike.
As Steve is about to hoist Dustin up a thunderous roar sounds from within the tunnel. You can feel the earth shake under your feet as the swarm of monsters rip through the tunnels under the ground. Your eye’s lock with Steve’s, through his goggles and bandana, you share the same thought. You’re too late. Not fast enough. He looks away and your heart stops.
Steve grabs his bat, turning towards the oncoming monsters, squaring his shoulders. He pushes Dustin behind him, adjusting his grip on the weapon.
Without thinking, without hesitation, you grab the tire iron and jump down into the hole.
“What are you doing?!” Steve yells.
“I’m not losing anymore friends!” You yell back, gripping the iron with both hands. There is no time for Steve to argue, or say anything, because you can see the demodogs rounding the corner. They are running full speed towards you. Every muscle in your body tenses as you raise your weapon, blood rushing in your ears, the only comfort you have is knowing Steve is fighting next to you.
Your breathing hitches as the first monster is upon you. But, to your surprise, instead of attacking it rushes by. So does the next, and the next, and the next. You stumble back as the dogs barrel past your legs. One of Steve’s arms wraps around you from behind, pulling you back against his chest. You reach out and grab Dustin, pulling him close to the two of you. The three of you watch the horde run directly past you and down the next tunnel without even a pause. Your heart thumps in your chest so hard that you’re sure Steve can feel it though your back pressed against him. When the last one runs by, you take a couple of gasping breaths, you must have been holding your breath the whole time.
“What was that?” Steve asks from behind you, his grip loosening slightly, as the sound of the dogs dissipates. There can only be one thing drawing them in, a bigger threat… Eleven.
“Whatever it was, let’s get the hell out of here!” Dustin screams, grabbing desperately at your arm. You and Steve lift Dustin up so his friends can grab him and help him the rest of the way out.
Now just the two of you, Steve extends his hand, bowing slightly.
“After you.” He offers, out of breath.
“And they say chivalry is dead.” you comment dryly, taking his hand. You aren't sure with the majority of his face covered, but you think he smiles slightly. You step on his knee and then up to his shoulder. You’re able to reach the surface and with the many grasping hands of the kids manage to scramble out of the hole. Steve climbs up the rope but when he is within arms distance you grab him, helping him the rest of the way out. Panting for breath you all scale the slope to solid ground.
Looking around at the group you frantically rush to each of them, making sure they are okay.
“Are you okay?... Any broken bones?... Bleeding anywhere?...” You rattle off, searching over each of them.
“We’re fine.” Dustin chides, pushing away your hands.
“Oh thank god.” You exhale a sigh of relief, pulling him into a tight hug despite his protests. “I almost had a heart attack!” You exclaim. Catching sight of Steve, you release Dustin. Suddenly, you remember that he was in charge of keeping them safe.
“Steve!” You yell, causing him to jump. Stomping over, you jab a finger in his chest. “What the hell were you thinking?!” You yell, Steve’s eyes widen behind his goggles and he holds up his hands in surrender.
“I-” he tries, but you cut him off, all of the fear and panic spilling out.
“You could have died! They could have died! Or you could have gotten lost! How could you think this was a good idea!?” You grab the front of his shirt, shaking him roughly. Your voice sounds borderline hysterical, tears flooding your vision. You don’t know if they are from anger or relief or some strange combination.
The kids rush over, all trying to explain what happened at once. You look around at all of them, bewildered as they all scream that it wasn’t his fault. Steve pulls his bandana and goggles off, revealing his face. When you look back at him, your eyes widen at the sight of his mangled features.
“Holy shit.” you gasp, letting go of his shirt and tentatively poking at his bruised face. He winces, grabbing your hand. “What… happened?” you ask, looking over his face. Steve shakes his head, his tongue licking over his split lip.
“Turns out babysitting is a lot harder than I thought.” He grumbles. You process his words and to everyone's surprise a strangled laugh shakes your shoulders, mixed with a sob. Without another word you step forward, flinging your arms around him. You ignore his grunt of discomfort and squeeze him tightly. He wraps his arms around you, holding you close, burying his face in your tangled hair. After a moment Steve pulls away.
“Can I ask you something?” he asks.
“Sure.” You say wiping at your eyes.
“Are we friends?” he asks. You look at his face, and he seems completely serious.
“What?” You ask bewildered.
“When you jumped down you said you weren’t going to lose anymore friends. So I was wondering-”
“What kind of stupid question is that?” You ask harshly, shoving him away slightly. Steve gapes for a moment and looks away, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I didn’t know if you were only hanging out with me because of nancy or…”
“Shut up.” you grumble, pulling him into another tight hug. He returns it immediately.
“What the hell is he doing here?!” Dustin yells. Pulling away from Steve, you keep one arm around him as you turn to see Dustin pointing at Billy. Who, despite your instructions, had stepped out of the car and was now leaning heavily on it to keep upright.
“I found him at the house.” you explain. “He was the only one there so I thought I should bring him along.” you go on.
“He’s a psycho!” Lucas yells, coming to stand next to you.
“He almost killed Steve!” Mike adds, stepping in front of you. Looking over to Steve, you feel him tense. Pieces start to fall into place as you look between Steve’s swollen face and Billy’s bloodied knuckles.
Then it clicks. Billy must have shown up looking for Max and found her in a house full of boys and Steve. Things must have gotten physical, leading to a fight between Steve and Billy where Steve ended up getting the crap beat out of him and Billy wound up drugged.
“He had it coming!” Billy yells from where he leans on the car, looking like he might fall over any second.
The comment has the rest of the group up in arms. The kids circle around you, everyone yelling, trying to tell you what actually happened. You take a step forward, going to attempt to calm things down but as you move the sound of the kids yelling fades. A high pitched ringing fills your ears. You see their mouths moving but all you hear is the ringing. Looking at Steve you see his eyes on you, and his mouth moves in a question.
‘You okay?’
The world starts to spin, the lights of the headlights growing brighter and brighter. You move to take a step but it feels like the ground has fallen out from under your feet. You tumble forward, falling into blackness.
It’s dark, and cold. Familiar. You have been here many times. This comforting, chilling, numbness. You feel the shadows fluttering around you, grazing against your skin like millions of feathers.
Then you hear something, a voice. It’s hard to make out what it’s saying but you want to follow it. You try to pull yourself from the shadows, but the feather light touches suddenly constrict. You try again, only for the shadows to tighten around you. You feel them twisting around your arms and legs, snaking up your chest, the harder you pull the tighter they squeeze. You can feel the scream bubbling in your chest, but the shadows choke the air out of you making it hard to breathe.
“Wake up.” a voice commands.
Opening your eyes all you can see is red. But, as you focus you see something though the red film. A girl. Eleven. You feel panic grip you as you watch her extend both hands. Her mouth opens in a scream, blood dripping from her nose as her powers surge forward. You blink and she’s gone. Instead of being back in the cold darkness it feels like youve been engulfed in flames. It consumes you.
You hear yourself screaming, and can feel yourself thrashing against the arms that hold you. It’s in your head, you can feel it. It’s scared.
Then…it’s gone.

The writers of Stranger Things and the Duffer Brothers are both so unprofessional and tacky. You could have at least given Eduardo Franco a phone call back, telling him that he would not be on the show for the next season, but no, you couldn't even do that.

It really just seemed like the Duffers wanted to get rid of their queer audience cuz like... Why even include the Vicky kissing a guy scene?
What was even the point of that? I mean, they could have just left that thread loose like maybe she is gay. But NO. They want to hurt all gay sentiments.
Seriously, fuck this shit.

why do people think if you like a character it means you think they can do no wrong?
liking a character ≠ excusing their past/awful behaviour.
just because i like billy and think he didn’t deserve to die, because underneath all of that he was, really, just a scared 18 year old boy who’d been a subject of abuse for years and years. a boy who needed help but has instead been villainized his entire life, doesn’t mean i think how he treated max, steve and lucas was okay in any way. because it wasn’t. why do people think all billy stans are incapable of acknowledging his wrong doings?
why was steve let off so easily after using a homophobic slur and bringing up joyce and will against jonathan? on top of just being a complete douchebag.
why was jonathan let off so easily after taking pictures of nancy in her bra when she was about to sleep with steve? not only was he taking pervy pictures, he was taking pervy pictures of a 16 year old which meant those pictures were considered CP.
they both got a chance to change, a redemption arc, and are now some of the most beloved characters in the series. (however personally i’m still iffy about jonathan)
billy, however, was never given a chance to change, instead he was deemed a sociopathic, sadistic 18-year-old up to his death. why was he not given a chance at a redemption arc? i’ll never fully understand why he had to die. he died thinking no one cared enough to want to help him. thinking he deserved everything he got. a mother who left him, a father who abused him, having no support system whatsoever and having to rely on himself.
that’s why i think his character and storyline was very poorly handled. he would’ve been an amazing addition to the group and maybe we could’ve finally gotten to see him and max getting to be like real siblings.
but the suffer brothers are cowards and clearly couldn’t handle such a complex character. not only would it have been another awesome character added to the list, it would’ve shown real abuse victims that they can change and that they deserve to be saved and loved. but all they did was point a big middle finger at them.

The next few hours go by without interruption. You continue to leave branching trails of bait to the tracks. When you finally reach the junkyard, you are the last to the party. Cresting the hill, you are able to see the gang hard at work getting ready. You are most surprised to see a certain red-headed stepsister.
Lucas catches sight of you first, a wide smile lighting up his face.
“What’s up babysitter?” he greets you, jogging over. You can’t help but return the smile, extending your hand as the two of you exchange your “secret handshake” Lucas had come up with when you used to watch him.
“Nothing much, hunting monsters, no big.” you say casually, causing him to laugh. Both of you turn to head back to the rest of the group. While you are still out of earshot, you nudge him and gesture towards where Max stands, inspecting a sheet of metal. “Who is the new girl?” you ask.
“Oh? Mad Max?” Lucas shrugs, but you notice the fond smile on his lips when he looks at her. “She’s a… friend.” he says bashfully. You understand immediately.
“Oh! I get it.” You say, smirking and giving him a wink.
“What?” He asks, looking at you shocked.
“You like her!” you tease, nudging him again, playfully.
“Shhh, Shut-up!” He chastises you, looking around to make sure no one else heard you. You chuckle but let it drop, seeing Steve approach.
“What took you so long?” He asks, taking the remainder of your meat bucket and adding it to the pile.
“Oh you know, I always like to take my time when I’m walking through the forest with a carnivorous creature on the loose.” you say sarcastically. Steve only rolls his eyes, but you can tell he is relieved to see you.
“That’s your babysitter?” You turn your gaze to Max, as she addresses Dustin.
“Well, uh-” Dustin Stammers, his cheeks turning pink.
“ I used to be.” you explain, offering your hand to her. “You must be Max.” you say. She eyes your hand sceptically, before taking it.
“I know you.” She says flatly. You lift a brow, confused. You doubt Billy has mentioned you to her. “I see you walking by our house all the time.” she explains. You feel slightly embarrassed but smile through it. “My brother, Billy, says it’s because you have ‘issues’.” she goes on, using air quotes around the word ‘issues’. Your jaw drops slightly at the bluntness of her words, feeling your face heating up. Steve stifles a laugh and you cut your eyes to him, glaring. He looks away, pretending to inspect his shoes.
“Yea, well…” you recover quickly. “We all have our issues.” you respond. “I’m sure your brother has a few of his own.” you remark. You see something flash through her eyes, her features softening slightly.
“Yea… I guess.” She says with a nod. Her expression is strangely familiar to you. It’s not something you are used to seeing on someone so young. It’s easy to see why your young friends are drawn to her.
“Okay, enough introductions, we’re losing daylight!” Steve calls, prompting all of you to get back to work fortifying the abandoned school bus.
All of you work quickly, doing everything you can to transform the old bus into a defensible position. You never would have thought that your babysitting skills would come in handy while instructing children on how to fortify a bus. But as the sun sets, the seriousness of the situation weighs heavily on your shoulders.
You look at these kids you watched grow up, these kids you helped raise, and wonder if there was anything you could have done to keep them out of this. There is nothing you want more than for them to just be kids, having fun, worrying about girls, and crushes and school. Not having to fight monsters in junkyards. Part of you want’s to tell them all to go home, to force them to leave with Steve and let you handle it alone. But a bigger part of you knows that it’s too late for that.
You feel the anxiety growing as you all climb into the bus, the sun disappearing behind the trees. You sit next to Steve, watching Dustin pace and listening to Steve repeatedly open and close his lighter. Your pistol rests, heavily, in your lap. You run your thumb over the safety, going over Hopper’s lessons in your head again.
Hopper. You wish he was here. He always made you feel safe, he would know what to do. You know that he is involved in all of this somehow, it was the only explanation for why none of you had been able to get in touch with him. That alone made you nervous. For as long as you could remember Hopper had always had your back, even last year when your whole world was falling apart, Hopper was there.
“So, you guys really fought one of these before?” Max asks, breaking the silence. Your eyes lock with Steve’s in the dim light and each of you think back to that night. Steve only gives a silent nod in response.
“And you’re like, totally 100% sure it wasn’t a bear?” She asks. The scars along your back begin to tingle slightly at the memory. You bring a hand up to the back of your neck, where the top of the claw marks begin. You run your fingers over the raised skin just beneath your collar. Steve places a hand on your knee, bringing you back to the present. You drop your hand and are about to respond when Dustin cuts you off.
“Shit. Don’t be an idiot! Okay? It wasn’t a bear.” He snaps. “Why are you even here if you don’t believe us?” He asks pointedly, ignoring Max’s shocked expression. “Just go home.” He says before continuing to pace.
“Geesh. Someone's cranky. Past your bedtime?” Max grumbles snarkly, moving to climb the ladder to the roof. You are reminded of Billy. She may not look like him, but the attitude is definitely familiar. You are about to chastise Dustin for his harsh words when Steve speaks up.
“That’s good. Just show her you don’t care.” he says, looking almost proud.
“I don’t.” Dustin responds curtly. Steve smiles knowingly, and gives him a wink.
“Why are you winking, Steve? Stop.” Dustin commands. Steve shakes his head, smiling, and goes back to flicking his lighter.
“Did you tell him to act like that?” you ask disbelievingly, looking between the two of them. Steve just shrugs.
“Not exactly. I just told him that you shouldn’t act too interested in a girl. Make her come to him, ya know.” Steve explains. You look at him, expecting him to say it’s a joke but when he appears to be completely serious you can't help but laugh.
“That’s the dumbest advice I've ever heard.” You say.
“What?” Sheve asks “It’s always worked for me.” he adds, smirking.
“Acting like that only works on girls that are after one thing.” you say. Steve’s smirk falls and his brows draw together.
“Wait… What do you mean?” Steve asks. You sigh, running a hand through your hair.
“You really think those girls were interested in your conversation skills, when you ignore them?” Steve stares at you, still confused. “If you treat a girl like that, and she still goes home with you, that wasn’t your idea… it was hers.” you explain.
“Wait… girls do that?” He asks. You chuckle at his confusion and lean forward, patting his knee as you stand up.
“More often than you think.” You say, walking to stand under the emergency exit, planning on climbing up to check on Max and Lucas. You catch part of their conversation and pause.
“My mom and stepdad, they wanted a fresh start, away from him. As if… as if he was the problem, which is total bull.” you hear Max explaining. “And things are just worse now.” The sadness in her tone makes your heart ache.
“My stepbrother’s always been a dick, but now he’s just angry… all the time…” you picture Billy, on Halloween, insulting you and manipulating you into getting angry… like him. “And he can’t take it out on my mom so…” your stomach twists at her words. You and Billy were not exactly friends, but hearing the hurt and pain in Max’s voice makes you angry. She is just a kid. She needs someone to protect her, someone to shield her from the painful truths of the world. That person was supposed to be Billy.
“It’s just… I know that I can be a jerk like him sometimes, and I do not want to be like him. Ever.” You hear her voice shake and your heart breaks. “I guess I’m angry too, and… I’m sorry.” She apologises to Lucas. You want so badly to help. To tell her that it’s not her fault, that it’s going to be okay, that she’s just a kid and there is time to make things better. Luckily Lucas is there for her.
“You’re nothing like your brother, okay? You’re cool and different and you’re super smart. And you’re like, totally tubular.” The sound of Max laughing lifts your spirits. But just as quickly, it sinks again. You think about the situation you are all in. Max, Lucas, and Dustin are just kids. You’re crucifying Billy for not protecting Max when you are putting her in a deadly situation. You are not a saint, you are part of the problem.
You make up your mind then. You need to get the kids out of here, before that thing shows up. You would force them to leave. You and Steve could handle this on your own. As you’re walking over to Steve to tell him to help you get the kids out, you are halted by the sound of a shrill growl in the distance. The sound causes a shiver to race down your spine and for all the hair on your arms to stand on end.
You rush to the small opening in the window to look out at the fog, Steve standing close behind you, his face next to yours.
“Do you see him?” Dustin asks.
“No.” Steve responds, keeping his eyes forward.
“Lucas, what’s going on?!” Dustin calls.
“Hold on!” Lucas replies. There is a pause as you all scan the surrounding darkness. You can feel your heart drumming steadily in your chest and readjust your hold on the pistol, swiftly flicking the safety off.
“I’ve got eyes! Ten o’clock! Ten o’clock!” Lucas yells from above.
“There.” Steve says next to your ear, pointing across the junkyard. You can see the shape emerging from the fog.
“What’s he doing?” Dustin asks.
“I don’t know.” you reply, watching the dog sized creature idling in the night.
“He’s not taking the bait. Why is he not taking the bait?” Steve asks, panicked.
“Maybe it’s because you dumped gasoline on it.” you mumble.
“Maybe he’s sick of cow.” Steve replies and quickly takes a step back, running a hand through his hair. You turn to him, confused.
“Steve? What are you doing?” Dustin asks as Steve walks quickly to the front of the bus. Turning to look at you, he pauses.
“You got my back?” He asks, seriously. His eyes search yours.
“Always.” You respond firmly, without hesitation, taking a step forward. He quickly moves forward, grabbing your hand. Standing this close to him, you can see the fear in his eyes even in the dim light.
“Be ready.” He says, keeping his eyes on yours. You can feel the metal of his lighter press into your palm.
“Be careful.” you respond. Steve tries to smirk, but it’s half hearted.
“Always.” he replies, letting your hand go, leaving the lighter in your palm.
The metal on the bus door screeches as he pulls it open, slowly stepping out. You stand at the door, pistol gripped in one hand, lighter in the other. You watch, tensely, as Steve advances. You hear him whistle lightly, trying to get it's attention.
“What is he doing?” Max asks, coming down the ladder to stand next to Dustin at the window.
“Expanding the menu.” Dustin explains, keeping his eyes on Steve.
“He’s insane.” Max exclaims, as Steve digs his feet firmly into the ground, swinging his bat in front of him.
“He’s awesome.” Dustin responds, smiling. You keep your eyes on Steve but can’t help but bite back.
“No. She’s right… He’s insane.” You hiss through gritted teeth.
The seconds drag by as Steve stares down the monster in front of him.
“Steve! Watch out!” Lucas screams from the roof, causing you to jump.
“A little busy here!” Steve shouts back.
“Three o’clock! Three o’clock!” Lucas warns. You turn your gaze in that direction in time to see another creature jump onto a car.
“Oh fuck…” you exhale as Dustin rushes to your side.
“Steve! Abort! Abort!” He yells. You shove the kids back as Steve dodges the first demogorgon, diving over the hood of the car, narrowly avoiding it’s sharp teeth.
“Shoot it! Shoot it!” Dustin yells. You lift your pistol to take aim, but can’t get a clear shot, not without hitting Steve. Another demogorgon lunges for Steve who’s bat collides with its jaw, effectively knocking it away.
“I can’t get a clear shot!” You yell as the kids continue to scream behind you. Steve sprints towards you, the monster hot on his tail. Off to the right another creature appears, making a beeline for Steve. With how close it is, you can see that it’s going to cut him off. You lift your pistol and quickly fire two shots, knocking it to the ground, stopping it long enough for Steve to reach the bus. As soon as he is close enough, you grab his arm and pull him into the bus, slamming the door behind you, bracing your back against the metal. You feel the monsters collide with the door seconds later.
The next few moments are chaos.
Steve pulls you away from the door, adding a metal sheet for reinforcement, bracing his feet against it.
“They can’t get in! They can’t!” Lucal yells. Suddenly a clawed arm breaks through the door, narrowly missing Steve’s leg as it lashes out wildly. You throw your body against the door, doing your best to keep it shut as Steve beats off the intruding claw with his bat. You can hear Dustin begging on the radio, and feel the creatures pounding against the metal so hard it rattles your whole body.
Steve grunts as he continues to beat back the claws. You barely notice the thud of something landing on the roof, the metal caves under the weight as it walks towards the emergency exit. Max’s scream cuts through the chaos.
“Go! Go!” You yell, waving Steve away as you continue to barricade the door. Steve rushes away, shoving the kids aside to face the monster staring down from the open roof.
“You want some?! Come and get this!” Steve yells, brandishing his bat. An ear-splitting roar rips through the night air and you grip your pistol tighter, preparing for the onslaught.
But, before anything can happen, the bus shakes violently as the creature leaps off the roof. The pounding on the door stops.
Silence falls and the only sound to be heard are your panting breaths. Everything is still. After a moment, you push yourself off the doors. Steve comes towards you and grabs your arm, quickly looking over you.
“You okay?” He asks, eyes still wide with panic.
“Not dead.” You reply breathlessly. “You?”
“Not dead.” He echos. The two of you move to slowly open the door in time to see the creatures retreating into the forest.
“What happened?” Lucas asks.
“I dont know.” Max replies, standing behind him.
“Did we scare them off?” Dustin suggests.
“No.” Steve says flatly. Taking a step forward. “No way… they’re going somewhere.” He concludes, turning back to look at you. You move to stand next to him, staring in the direction they had run in. You begin to feel the strange buzzing in your mind again. It’s different now. Instead of spreading over you it feels more like a pull. Like it wants you to follow.
Somehow you know that something is coming. Something bad.

Part 1, ...(Masterlist)...Part 15
A/N: I hope you guys like this one! Kind of a filler but we are getting into the action. Reader is feeling very protective of Max. How will an inside look at Billy change their dynamic??

You know I am a ronance stan (but knowing the Duffer Brothers don't think clearly and spit on their already established queer characters) I don't have much faith it's gonna happen. Also considering Natalia is still somehow begging for ronance. Anyway, I know probably in the end it's gonna come down between stancy and jancy. Unfortunately. So I would personally like to cast my vote for scraping the Duffer's and electing one of the Stranger Things fan fiction writers to write S5! :)

Do I even want Eddie to return, do I trust the Duffer Brothers to do it right? No. That's why we have fanfiction and fan art creators. I def trust them.
