Could you do some head cannons involving dark revival bendy and ink demon and the reader, (this takes place after the game and ink demon technically still exists in bendy) -🌕

After ending the last Cycle, you were back in the real world with a certain inky imp at your side.

With Joey's legacy and studio realm in your hands now, you vowed to make things better for everyone still trapped inside.

While you couldn't pull them into your world like you could Bendy, you're able to ease their pain and make living more bearable.

To start, you freed anyone who was regarded as a "Cyclebreaker" and gave the Gent factory back to Tom, Allison, Henry, and Porter so they can build stuff to protect themselves. 

The Lost Ones made improvements on the city--even the ones infused with rainbow ink joined in.

The Keepers also became the pest control for Widows. You hated those mfs and wanted them GONE.

Sammy became their preacher, and Malice got to sing at the bar and be even more beautiful, with a more perfect face.

The Butcher Gang accepted Carley/Slicer as one of their own, too.

As for the Ink Demon, well, he continued to roam the domain as its “ruler”. He still had to feast on ink to make himself strong, so he returned to it often.

In the real world, he always stayed in the Arch Gate Studio--never leaving it since he didn’t want people finding out he exists.

Trauma from the experiments in previous Cycles kept him mute in his smaller form, although you can still hear the Ink Demon’s thoughts in your head sometimes.

Especially when you compliment him on his cuteness.

“Awh, how's that little choo-choo train working, Benders?”

“I will drag you back into the dark puddles if you patronize me again.....but...this wheel might be coming loose, [y/n].”

"I’ll fix it right away!”

Tbh while life is a little bit nicer, Bendy still knows everyone’s suffering because of Joey. It’s not something that can just end with the scribble of a pencil. And until you resolve it and put everyone to rest, he’s gonna be miserable.

But at least you’re trying to fix things, and that’s good enough for him.

You, an unlikely friend who restarted the Cycle for the better, were the change this Studio so desperately needed.

Prompt: Steddie, laughter in the dark

"Hey, Steve, c'mon," Eddie murmurs, budging at him with an elbow.

Steve mumbles something that sounds an awful lot like a small child asking for more minutes, and for a second Eddie nearly gives it to him. He sleeps so poorly usually, and he's warm against Eddie's side on the couch, head nestled against Eddie's shoulder. He doesn't let his guard down like this very often, and Eddie treasures every time he gets to see it. Evidence that he's beginning to relax, finally. Evidence that he trusts Eddie won't disappear if he closes his eyes for a minute.

But Steve had wanted this, so Eddie nudges him again. "C'mon, it's quarter past. You're gonna miss it."

Steve's dark eyes open and then scrunch shut as he takes a breath. "Already?"

"You've been asleep an hour," Eddie tells him, lamenting the loss of him as Steve straightens up and stretches and yawns.

Steve falls still with his head hung, leaning forward on his elbows, and Eddie traces the curve of his back with his eyes, wishing his hands could follow. There's a strange tension to him, like he really doesn't want to get up, or like he's expecting something bad to happen. Like the Upside Down might crack open again and swallow them up.

"We don't have to...?" Eddie ventures.

Steve laughs, but it's strained, the sort of hysterical like Eddie's told a joke, except he hasn't, and then Steve is on his feet and offering his hand to help Eddie up next. "C'mon, dude, we'll miss it. I want to see it. With you."

Eddie laughs under his breath and takes Steve's hand up. He puts his rumpled clothing to rights as they cross the trailer. He opens the door and spins in order to stand outside of it, ready to let Steve pass and close it behind him, mostly so that he can see Steve smile in thanks. Eddie's heart gives a little flutter, the way it always does when Steve smiles at him like that.

Together they scramble up on top of the van, and just as they reach the top, the street lights in the trailer park shut down. There are people all over standing on their porches, eyes raised to the sky, to the full moon shining brightly. Eddie risks a glance over at Steve, can't help his excited grin, and is relieved to see a matching smile on Steve's face.

"I haven't come out to see an eclipse in a long time," Steve admits, turning his face back up to the sky.

"I'm glad you came to see this one," Eddie tells him, watching the edge of the moon begin to darken.

Steve doesn't reply, he just leans over and presses his warm arm to Eddie's, chasing away the chilly October air. Eddie lets himself lean back - it's cold, he can get away with it - and stares up into the sky with him, watching the light of the moon slowly bleed away. It's perfect. Beautiful.

"Hey, Eddie?" Steve says softly, as the last sliver of moon is fading, plunging the night into darkness.

Eddie turns to find Steve looking at him instead of the moon, too close, not moving back, and his heart starts kicking extra hard against his ribs. "Yeah?"

Something unreadable flickers over Steve's features, and then his hand is sliding smoothly along Eddie's jaw, and Eddie lets himself be pulled in. He definitely does not give a breathy little whine when Steve kisses him, except for how he does. There are people all around them, anyone could look, but Eddie knows they won't. They're too busy staring at the full moon eclipse.

It ends too soon, only a few seconds, only a dry brush of lips, the warming rub of cold noses, Steve's breath mingling with his when they part, steamy tendrils visible in the chill night air.

Eddie's eyes open - he doesn't remember closing them - and he stares at Steve as the moon begins to unmask, silver sliver shining on the other side again. He has to swallow twice before he can find any words, takes a quick glance around to see if anyone had caught them, but everyone's faces are turned up to the moon, fingers pointing. He looks back, meets Steve's eyes, and can barely stand the fragile hope there.

"Eddie?" Steve asks, low and concerned. "Was that- are you mad?"

"Mad?" Eddie laughs, entire body a live wire desperate to ground himself with another kiss while knowing full well they can't, now that the moment has passed. "You insisted on watching this eclipse with me, you have been a nuisance about it for days since you found out. I really thought you were excited about the moon."

The more he talks, the bigger Steve's knowing little grin has gotten, and it's no wonder because Eddie cannot keep the smile off his own face. Steve had kissed him. Steve had planned to kiss him. Steve had picked possibly the most romantic way to kiss him, ever. Eddie doesn't know what to with that. It doesn't feel real.

"Well," Steve says slowly, and Eddie can already tell he's about to have regrets about whatever Steve is about to say in that tone, "I was excited, just... not about the moon. I guess you could say I'm over the moon, for you."

Eddie stares at him with as blank a mask as he can, knowing full well now that Steve had included Dustin in whatever this plan was, because there's no way Steve had come up with that on his own. He is better than puns. Eddie turns away when he cannot keep a straight face any longer, and starts getting down from the van, coughing to cover up his laugh.

Behind him, Steve laughs and starts following him. "Wait, Eddie, c'mon! Dustin said it would work!"

Eddie stops, perched on the very edge of the van's hood, and waits for Steve to catch up to him before speaks. He lowers his voice to a growl, staring at the front door of the trailer. "I am going to take you into my home, and make out with you to within an inch of your life, Steve Harrington, but only if you promise to stop taking dating advice from an eleven year old."

"He's fifteen," Steve says, and then shakes his head. "And he was right." Eddie looks over, almost sidelong, and Steve adds: "And I will never take dating advice from him again."

Eddie breaks a little, letting the warm feeling in his chest stretch and spread within him, and he finally relaxes. This isn't a joke. Isn't a prank. He'd just promised to kiss Steve again, and Steve wants him to keep that promise.

"You really..." Eddie swallows and clears his throat. "You really planned all this? Waited?"

"I tried to," Steve says, keeping his hands in his own lap. "I really... really like you, Eddie. And then you... when you told everyone, and suddenly I had a shot... I just... wanted to tell you in a way that'd be special."

Eddie blows out a breath, and leans closer, tipping his head. "It's you," he says, helpless. "It would have been special no matter when or where you did it. But I gotta admit... kissing me under a full moon eclipse?"

"Please don't say metal," Steve says, but he's grinning now.

"Pretty fucking romantic," Eddie says over him. They both laugh, and Eddie lays his hand down between them, palm up and fingers loose. Steve slips his hand in and, to his credit, doesn't look around to see who's watching. "Now, I believe I have a promise to keep."

He hops down, pulling Steve with him, all the way to the trailer, just as the moon begins to shine its brightest once more.

what are your thoughts on the AEDD egos? I can see how the theme of experimentation and exploitation relate to Gregor but i don't really see what Heathcliff has to do with it

Alright, cracks knuckles. Time to figure out what I can come up with here.

Under the cut we go.

Let's start with the Shock Centipede itself. Cruelty and exploitation is absolutely one of its main themes, but I think there is something more we can look into here.

The Centipede's Mirro Dungeon event involves a choice between shocking it or forcing it into water, two different methods of inflicting pain on it for the sake of a nebulous "better result". I'm going to focus on this aspect of this theme of exploitation specifically - putting someone or something in pain for the sake of progress or improvement.

Another potential theme I want to note here is perserverence. As a boss fight, Shock Centipede does not die upon reaching 0 HP, but rather stays on 1 HP for several turns as a "final struggle", as it's put in its Observation Logs.

Likewise, in its Mirror Dungeon event, while it is noted to stop moving upon being shocked, it notably does not drown when its tank is filled with water. It's clearly in pain, writhing and "dancing", but it doesn't succumb.

Let's apply both of those themes - pain for the sake of progress and perserverence - to Gregor and Heathcliff.

The connections here are immediately obvious for Gregor. Hermann put him through horrible trauma and likely invasive procedures for the sake of making him into what she considered a good soldier. I think the fact that Gregor ended up not suffering from as many side effects as the other Old G Corp soldiers adds to this theme. Gregor was treated as an improvement on the formula, in exchange of him having to go through a war and serve a role in it that he didn't ask for.

However, just like the Centipede, Gregor persevered through it. He survived the war, and he continued to try and live a somewhat normal life. Even as he trauma got in the way, he kept on living. Survival is a Sin, he'd tell Yuri, but who cares? Even if it is a Sin, you should keep on living anyway.

While we don't have enough information on Heathcliff to be able to make as clear of a connection as we did with Gregor... I think we can reverse-engineer here a little bit and speculate on what AEDD means for Heathcliff's potential backstory.

For one, we know two things for sure about Heathcliff's background - he's from the Backstreets, and he was part of a Syndicate at one point in his life.

I think in this case the theme of Pain for the sake of improvement still applies, but in a noticeably different way to Gregor's. Say, have you ever heard of the saying "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?", the idea that the pain you're going through will leave you a better person for it?

In my opinion, that's exactly what Heathcliff's AEDD signifies. The idea that the pain and cruelty he might have gone through in the past is what made him stronger. What is impossible for me to tell at this stage is who would hold that opinion. Is it the opinion of someone Heathcliff knew and who had put him through a significant amount of pain, or is it his own opinion that he developed as a way to cope with his trauma? There simply isn't enough information to know for sure just yet.

Applying the theme of perserverence is a lot simpler here. It's clear that Heathcliff's life was rough, likely full of abuse and heartbreak. And yet, even having gone through all of that, he keeps going. He keeps living on with his chin held high and doesn't let anyone get in his way.

I'd also like to look at their dialogue lines real quick, as I think there's something interesting to be read from them.

When it comes to their Awakening lines, I think they're meant to signify the kind of torment they've been put through in their lives.

Gregor was forced through horrible trauma because Hermann wanted him to endure it, to become a better soldier for it. It was calculated, "just enough to kill", or in this case, just enough to leave lasting damage, but no more or less.

For Heathcliff, it was pain that aimed straight for his heart. While it's in Heathcliff's character to be excited about violence, I think in this case the tone of his line could signify that the person who hurt him saw him as just something to play with. Either that, or that's how Heathcliff views them in retrospect.

Likewise, I think their Corroded lines have both of them almost fully take the role of their own abusers, something that is already hinted at by the E.G.O taking on the form of a labcoat-like suit, the uniform of the people that likely tortured the Centipede itself.

When Corroded, Gregor takes on the role of someone like Hermann, a mad scientist who hurts other people because they are the test subjects. They aren't "people" to her. An idea that gets further carried over by the ID on the AEDD's outfit being crossed out in its Corroded version.

If it wasn't already obvious that Heathcliff considers Cathy as his abuser from his Awakening line, I think his Corroded line cements this. While I haven't read Wuthering Heights, I do know one thing about it - and it's that Cathy and Heathcliff were both toxic to each other. I think that's what Heathcliff's Corroded line ties back to, how Cathy was horrible to Heathcliff partially because he was also horrible to her.

Alright, that was a lot. Thankfully, I think the Sin analysis here is actually quite straightforward!

AEDD is a Gloom damage E.G.O. Gloom as a Sin represents actions done under the pressure of negative emotions. It implies severe emotional stress which. Yeah. Yeah I would fucking think an E.G.O representing the effects of the abuse its users perservered through would be Gloom.

There's also another angle to look at here, and that is the fact that AEDD has its users act in the shoes of their abusers, as implied by the dialogue lines. Whether it's biting back at their own abusers with the exact same tactics they were hurt with, or whether this ties into an idea of a cycle of abuse, I'm not entirely sure. The one thing I am sure of is that it would still count as something motivated by emotional stress, thus Gloom.

When it comes to Sin requirements, they're the same for both Gregor and Heathcliff, that being Gloom and Envy.

Gloom, of course, makes sense, as it's the severe emotional stress that distates one's actions when forced into a situation that AEDD represents.

Envy, on the other hand, represents actions done as a reaction to other people's actions. Which. Yeah. Yeah that is exactly what's happening here. It's Gregor and Heathcliff reacting to and lashing out at the abuse they suffered at the hands of other people.

I never know how to properly end these E.G.O analysis posts but uh. Yeah. There you go. That's what I got on the funny electric bug that symbolizes abuse E.G.O.

Well that's actually happening for real now, because our GM is not only running a oneshot separate from our main campaign this weekend, but also very encouraging of letting us pull expy nonsense. #13 is "Searching for Full Moon" (2002) which I actually watched all 52 (FIFTY TWO) episodes of. truly wild.

The basic premise is that a girl finds out from two death gods that she has one year left to live before she dies of throat cancer, so they help her realise her one last wish of becoming an idol. this summary does not do justice to how absolutely bonkers this show is on many levels. but I still have some of the songs in my playlists because they are a bop. also the fashion is peak early 2000s
