Even if you don't agree with any, just which one do you think holds the most weight.
Full option 4: Vergil with plastic chair, child support, and Dante doesn't know what sex is aren't funny jokes anymore and haven't ever really been all that funny.
Full option 8: DMC 5's gameplay isn't all that great, the combat is really fun, but it's better when you had to run around and collect items to progress like in the older game's and they should go back to that.
Reminder to be nice! Absolutely no arguing. I don't mind friendly debates, but full blown arguments will cause this poll to be deleted.

I have a question!! So I’m a long-time BSD enjoyer but I haven’t read nearly as much of the manga as I would like. I’ve seen all of the anime though, most of it multiple times through. I didn’t realize until looking at the comments on Danny Motta’s video at how much people fucking hate Fukuchi and his sword. Up until this point I’ve thought it’s cool as hell and he, along with the sword, bring something kinda new and fun to the series.
HOWEVER, I know BSD is FAR from perfect and there’s a lot of dumb shit that faithful manga readers have a better perspective on. Would you mind explaining why Fukuchi and the sword are such a sore point? I hope this isn’t too much to ask. I just really want to know.
Hi anon! Its not too much to ask at all!
Unfortunately the answer to that is best explained in the context of ALL the issues I have with the manga/show so... this is going to be v long... and im done giving this show more credit than it deserves but don't take it that seriously lol I hesitate to even consider my pov to be on par with the average manga reader but ig we'll see how my opinions hold up after i post
And disclaimer: I don't mind answering this but ONLY with the context that this is 100% my opinion (as of late, bsd as a whole has just been REALLY bugging me so im just gonna take this opportunity to explain my gripes since most of them apply to or tie greatly into fukuchi's character/design/motivations/development)
I simply don't want anyone to come for my head bc of anything I say here tho, bc I feel like I may disagree with a large portion of the fanbase but WITH THAT SAID...
***from this point forward there will be a few spoilers from s5e11***
Here are my gripes with BSD...
1. BSD and its "magic system"?
bsd powers suffer from what i like to call a "lack of scope"
granted this could be due to the fact the story isnt complete HOWEVER im sure any anime fan can tell you this story doesnt feel like it is leading anywhere its just... going... (ill get to the awful pacing later)
for comparison sake im going to also talk about The Case Study of Vanitas since it is the world I have the most experience in
what does BSD not have that VNC does?
simply put, the magic system doesnt reinvent itself character to character
in VNC if you have an ability it is EXCLUSIVELY connected to "manipulations of the world formula" which is essentially elemental control (fire, ice, gravity, etc.) based on a sci fi version of chemistry (alchemy, if you will) and this rule applies to EVERY CHARACTER in VNC
its a structure that starts developing from the beginning
BSD however introduces a WHOLE NEW magic system for each character
some character abilities are similar, yes, and can be classified as such, but many cannot be classified
again a magic system doesnt NEED to have strict rules (its actually more boring that way if the rules are too simple) but it DOES need RULES... and solid ones
otherwise its tempting to use the MAGIC system to fill in PLOT RELATED gaps
and if that system isnt defined, well, to me that looks like lazy/sloppy/illogical writing
if you like the whiplash of not knowing whats gonna happen next, fine, (i did for awhile too!) up until the unpredictability started to come from powers that as a whole look like an authors way of trying to write themselves out of their own plot hole
ie: time travel
specifically time travel that isnt introduced FROM THE BEGINNING...
2. Fukuchi and his "deus ex machina" sword
Tumblr media
time travel is NOTORIOUSLY difficult to pull off and especially by my standards
I have watched Doctor Who since 2008, before I even knew what tumblr was I was doing my own solo fandom stuff (basically just watching a LOT of youtube video essays) but basically I have high standards when it comes to time travel in stories
Amenogozen has the POTENTIAL to be a great weapon if used in a logical context... but theres one thing the sword (and BSD as a whole) does not follow
RULES
time travel is TRICKY mostly bc it has consequences... in BSD fukuchi gives nothing in exchange for his powers
lets even toss time travel aside for the moment
what is Fukuchi's innate special ability? Mirror Lion... (read below)
Tumblr media
its essentially an attack multiplier of x100 at CLOSE RANGE
lets say your average untrained human punch is 150psi (pounds per square inch) which is the pressure equivalent of a point 100m below the surface of the ocean...
Tumblr media
with Mirror Lion's multiplier you get 15,000psi which would be 10,000m or 10 kilometers
Tumblr media
a pressure equivalent to the deepest part of the ocean (i dont need to remind you how powerful water is... we all know about oceangate)
MY POINT IS HE'S OVERPOWERED AS FUCK
dont even get me started on his motivations too
im glad we got backstory for him in ep 11 and im sure we are just supposed to sum up his motivations into "he was willing to pay the high price for world peace" but tbh royally fuck that
dont TELL me thats what he believes
PROVE to me how you made that conclusion
also the only reason he even dies is becasue he wants fukuzawa to kill him... we dont have any sense of accomplishment for stopping his scheme because NOW the scheme has been PLOPPED right into fukuzawa's lap which fukuchi intended to do from the start... apparently
and this seemingly retroactive decision-making is a problem A LOT of bsd characters have, especially the one and only character i hate THE MOST... *drumroll*
3. Osamu fucking Dazai
oh boy...
I have thought long and hard about Dazai... im not going to lie, after ch109 and ep10 I was about to admit Dazai might actually have grown on me BUT
this was all erased after 6 minutes into ep11 when he was confirmed to indeed NOT be dead
Dazai just *knows* everything thats gonna happen
Chuuya was never a vamp... he knew this... and somehow his ENTIRE escape plan was just hinging on that? bc yknow... hE kNeW fRoM tHe bEgiNniNg
OSAMU DAZAI IS A PLOT DEVICE USED *ONLY* TO FILL IN NARRATIVE HOLES
HE IS A WAY TO FORCE PROGRESS ON A STORY WITHOUT EVER GIVING A REAL EXPLANATION
HIS CHARACTER IS AN INSULT TO INTELLIGENCE
His character is paper thin, with motivations that do not translate to his actions
and frankly... im tired of it...
additionally... if sigma doesn't survive, all of Meursault was literally useless... so why pick him for nikolai's prison break game?
even if he does, it means the ONLY thing we get out of the arc is information about fyodor... as to WHAT information, who knows... but regardless, a villain arc that has been going on for TOO GODDAMN LONG (40 chapters?) should have a resolution that isnt "i knew what was gonna happen all along"
we spent the whole time being SHOWN that fyodor and dazai were of equal intelligence levels... or at least higher than what dazai was used to dealing with
if dazai could just predict shit like this from the beginning why was fyodor a villain for so long? makes ZERO sense, dazai would've defeated him AGES ago... what makes THIS time any different?
also... why is he even suicidal? yeah ok the author was... but like... why make it such a present character trait?... so we can fake kill him over and over? idk
can you tell i dislike him?
4. THEORY vs PRACTICE
I am a "show dont tell" girlie
ALL BSD DOES IS "TELL TELL TELL" ...its infuriating
almost every power/special ability has an element of "trust me bro" ok SOME OF THEM DONT but most of them do
ie: atsushi is a tiger (what does that even mean), kenji gets strong when he's angry (ok hulk?), and THIS JUST IN we STILL don't know how fyodor's ability works... and now he's DEAD?... we also dont know almost any detail about sigma's ability and he might ALSO be dead
but thats only regarding abilities...
when it comes to writing stories using people of high intelligence it is VERY difficult to not get into the aforementioned "trust me bro" mindset which BSD does REPEATEDLY
im not listing off every example but off the top of my head is one scene from s4...
ranpo explains his plan for saving yosano loosely involved "replacing the engine [of an armored vehicle] with an electric motor and playing engine sounds over the speakers so no one noticed" ...and only i can pick this claim to shreds lol (i engineer electric vehicles for a living) but this is so wrong on so many levels...
Internal combustion engines and Electric motors are IN NO WAY EQUIVALENT
ranpo would never be able to power a vehicle the size of an armored truck with a motor that he installed an hour before the truck was put to use... he just wouldnt... the vehicle is too big... ugh *facepalm*
and dont even get me started on batteries...
MY POINT IS
if you want to write some *genius move* at least TRY to do some research to make the action believable
thats like saying "oh yeah i ran out of gas so a threw a couple AA batteries into my gas tank until i could make it to the station"
BUT THAT WOULDNT FLY BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE KNOW THATS NOT HOW CARS WORK
*sigh*
5. Manga Readers' POV
the.chapters.are.too.short
especially for a monthly released manga
i am relatively new to anime and manga... like late 2020, so I am part of the "new gen" I guess you could say so i know i dont have any right to complain about pacing in comparison to like... the dressrosa arc of One Piece
with that said, not enough in bsd BUILDS on itself
it all feels like a self "one-up"
its been too long since any of my large questions have been answered
honestly its rare that any of my questions are ever answered because the narrative rarely follows logical progression anyway and any scenes thats ARE useful are cut from the anime
characters do not *develop* their powers, they just simply ARE
whatever ability you are born with limits what you can do and thats that... which leads me to...
6. Types of Ability Users
the most coherent thing i think i can speak on so this will be short lol
there are 3 types... i think (excluding lightnovels, i have not read 15, Stormbringer, or any others)
(1) natural abilities (ones that can be nullified by dazai or stolen like in Dead Apple)
(2) human/god fusions (chuuya) -> but this can ALSO be nullified???
(3) when an ability isnt an ability (it CANT be nullified) -> ie: whatever the fuck Lovecraft is
Sigma -> ??? (he could be part of the natural ability category but like... it feels weird to put him there)
but... there is never a comparison between these types so im not even sure of this "list" is exhaustive
this is just another way the story is leaving open ways to dig itself out of a plot hole... which isnt fun... bc now there are no stakes... there are no rules... its disorganized chaos where anything can happen
everyone will always be fine because there is a way out of everything
and thats BORING... and for me, downright infuriating
fukuchi likely falls into the first category... but then again he's also using a tool from another ancient ability user... so does he even fit there?
7. Anime Adaptation
rushed
rushed
RUSHED
and i know why...
BSD is so thin on STABLE plot the story would feel like its dragging if Bones wasn't animating at the pace they are (see Manga Readers' POV)
so to try and counteract the feeling that nothing is happening they are cutting "irrelevant" scenes BUT ALSO important portions relevant ones (ie: aku's death)
do all the plot points from the manga happen? by definition, yes... but the nuance the manga has is lost almost entirely
Atsushi doesn't physically throw an injured Aku's arm over his shoulders... Aku doesn't smile upon his demise... Aku doesn't reach out through the fog of the fire extinguisher (the adaptation of this scene was personally my last straw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then we have the new anime content...
why did we tack on an additional fight? zero context... didn't even tie up loose ends from fukuchi like...
is sigma alive?
are chuuya/dazai/nikoali still in france? europe?
is fyodor going to return in some way? (we know nothing of his motives, ability, or MOST importantly, what information did he learn from Sigma??? his ability is an EXCHANGE so why even have that happen if they are both dead anyway?) why would you fucking kill off a character like this
WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THIS ENTIRE ARC??? The mere reason I'm asking this question is, in and of itself, unacceptable
we MAY get an answer later... but its been 20 episodes... why the fuck dont we know anything about the arc we just completed? ...ludicrous
Final Thoughts
BSD does not have enough reliable rules in its magic system to form a solid foundation of... anything
Fukuchi is a disjointed character trying to do too many things at once, he doesn't have solid motivations, and his arc provides more questions than it answers
Osamu Dazai is not a character... he is a plot device used like a saving throw in DND
BSD frequently insults my intelligence to cover it's ass in its storytelling
being a manga reader is like taking 30 days to rip off a tiny band aid... the pacing is unbearable
even with the end of fukuchi's arc now known, there was no sense of accomplishment in defeating him bc technically we didnt… he gave himself up... so the sword was just to make him overpowered... it was pointless
the anime adaptation was rushed, scenes cherry picked, and plot narratively thinned into water... there was no depth this season
In my opinion...
There are very few redeeming characteristics about BSD now
The few meaningful scenes we do get in the manga are overwritten by later context that negates any emotion initially associated with the scene
even with the end of fukuchi's arc now known, there was no sense of accomplishment in defeating him bc technically we didnt... he gave himself up
Dazai is the worst written character I have ever read
It is very likely i drop this story entirely
If I seem salty/upset/etc. its because I am. However is NOT directed at you, it is simply a manifestation of my disappointment in this story.
...
And there you have my opinion... in way too many words... thanks for sticking around if you made it this far im impressed bc i am salty as hell lol

I've been desperate for monster taming games and have tried out a bunch
I find palworld is actually the closest to what I actually wanted
The creatures in ark are less like creatures and more like tools, they don't get any sort of personality or care, and the gameplay itself is designed to be an agonizing slog for the sake of rust like pvp
Every other game leans too much into trying to be pokemon and are just turn based rpgs which are not fun at all for me
I like being able to pet and pamper my animals and I like traveling with them and how they help you; i love how the game isn't excessively grindy, so many aspects of the gameplay resolve tons of irritating issues I've had with the games they're inspired from! I love most of the designs, i am a fan of pokemon redesigns, fakemon, and fusions, and as an artist some are just better designs than the original pokemon they're ripping from. People don't even know that their art team is the largest part of their staff.
The game is ugly, buggy, derivative; i don't trust the company but neither do i trust any game company. It really does combine elements of games I have played in a smooth way that works out better than the original game
This is a long ask so imma number my points. The tone of this isnt argumentative im just responding as i read your ask c:
1) Like i said i dont care if people play it. I hope people get their 30 bucks worth of fun
2) Technically Pokemon itself was just a more streamlined version of Megami Tensei. so something being turn based is neither bad nor indicative of being a pokemon rip off altho thats likely what a lot of people know. Like Cassette Beasts like yeah im sure theres some pokemon flavor to it but i dont think its nearly as derivative as palworld imo. Again no beef just, like their whole thing is it being pokemon with guns.
3) One of the accusations was that they stole fakemon fanart from small artists which if true is not cool but some of the pals have been neat. I havent really delved too deep into every bit about the controversies
4) Im sure theres passionate folks working on it just like im sure devs at gamefreak give it their all
5) im a lifelong pokemon fan but i sold my copy of violet because like the characters are fun and all but i found it not enjoyable to play. I feel the environments should be more stylized. Also it kept crashing for me idk if theyve fixed that but the pokemon company has way too harsh time mandates for gamefreak like give them a year or two more for development.
6) the company is sketchy but i mean so is the pokemon company so...
Some monster tamer games I love and recommend in case you or anyone is curious
-------
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince
Shin Megami Tensei V
World of Final Fantasy
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (i mean its sort of qualifies in the genre but i like it)
Cassette Beasts
Monster Hunter Stories
-----
But yeah hope youre having fun anon

ARC-V Month Day 9: Light Across the Aether (belated)
@arcvmonth
Finally found something I could find as my favourite part of ARC-V. And I've got just the thing, I think...
The Maiami Championship Crescendo
Yeah, that's appropriate enough of a title. The start of the Maiami Championship really was the start of a series of banger after banger, with Duels and resolves being greater with each encounter, for a great first 2 days of the Championship. And it all starts off with...
Ayu vs Reira
Not the Duel you'd expect. You technically would start it off with Futoshi vs that Superhero Kid, but it hardly got any coverage. But Ayu was featured in the first full Duel of the Maiami Championship. And it's a good showing by both contestants. Ayu gets to be cute and fun, showing her Deck off and how her own Entertainment Duel spin with Aquaactresses, and how she takes care of the Monsters, rides them around for Action Cards, and is overall completely unbothered by Reira's moves at first, as long as they can make a Duel more fun (the copied Guppy). She's like... THE kid on the playground just having fun as best as she can, complete with basic mistakes.
But then it all takes a bleak and mysterious turn when Reira actually goes full throttle. I actually don't have too much to say on their part, considering it's an intro, essentially, and leaves more questions than answers at that point.
Yuzu vs Masumi
Peak Yuzu right here, folks. Peak Yuzu.
It's the culmination of the pinkette's character arc of a thing that her rivalry with Masumi, and coincidentally her role in the story is focused on.
Luster in Yuzu's eyes. Or rather, brilliance, which is synonymous to clarity.
By a clear lack of clarity Yuzu got into the situation that pushed her so low in the first place, being utterly confised by everything, starting from her "best friend". And it's... Symbolic that Yuzu still hadn't gotten that clarity until this point (leading to the basic mistake of putting Schuberta, a Fusion, in her main Deck.) But she truly wanted to get in there and know, and grow stronger to protecr her friends.
This match is the test for Yuzu, and admittedly its only fault is that Masumi could have played her hands better. Even that, though, is mostly justified. Rather, the Master Diamond with no effects is, as there was almost no way that Yuzu would get over that had she not learned Fusion (because Melodious sucked so badly they couldn't naturally get over a 3000 ATK beatstick seriously, in the anime using the whole hand for Mozarta and Canon was the BEST they could do).
Yuzu learning Fusion to BEAT Fusion really was a clear focus she had during her training, and the new Monster themselves showed. Soprano was designed for Fusion, Schuberta was very much anti-fusion (although that made her suck quite badly overall) and we have... This lovely angel.
Tumblr media
Already did a mini-thesis on Bloom Diva so I feel I shouldn't really elaborate further... Except for one point I admittedly missed and COULD be an interesting parallel.
Yuzu definitely gained that luster, that clarity that she was lacking. And the Melodious Deck... Also seemed to have finally gotten clarity with the connection of the flower theme Yuzu would be later associated with. As for Yuzu this was the start of herself as an established Duelist with a clear goal, and the Melodious theme would be clear, ever spanning into the flower theme that was integral to the Bracelet.
I reckon people here would be on board with me with this, but if I showed this to Konami execs they'd laugh at me and kick me out.
Anyway, the Duel ended on the best Action Yuzu ever did, of fully trusting her Monster to catch her... Just to DENY an Action Card from Masumi, and bringing herself the win. This whole sequence (plus another thing) really brought me to form up my fanfic, and was just the peak of Yuzu's character. (At the cost of my cynical self taking over I have to be sincere. It sucks that Yuzu's peak was 1/5th into the whole show, despite her supposed importance. This wasn't supposed to be her peak.)
This monent also led to a new wonderful rivalry (that got cut shortly after because boy someone hated Masumi and Go Zappa left). (Also Lustershipping FTW. Day 7 entry. Don't care.)
Gongenzaka vs Ankokuji
Lordy I rambled on with that one. Just can't help it sometimes.
Admittedly, this one could be considered a step back, since the focus here is on this moment and day rather than an arc, though it has some history behind it that's somewhat tied to the whole Strong Ishijima fiasco as well as Yuya and Gongenzaka's friendship.
Whether this is better than Yuzu's Duel or not I feel is personal here. I have a much stronger connection towards Yuzu, of course, so I vastly prefer that one, but Gongenzaka's also solid for me, and that was a Duel that showed his own self pretty well: steadfast, sturdy, serious, and a loysl friend to Yuya, who he trusts dearly. Really, all you need to know from the guy.
Even in Ankokuji's side, it's quite a represented story of betrayal that gets ultimately nullified by the deep trust that pays off as Yuya gave the sacred sash back to Gongenzaka. An overall strong showing here.
Yuya vs Sawatari
That's what I meant by a Crescendo, because each Duel in these first two days is better than the last, with one exception that can be excused because the Prelude also tends to be strong.
A Duel that finally made Sawatari enter the map as more than a joke. While there were MANY tests done for Yuya's Pendulum and how Yuya became unique because of it, and that uniqueness is getting taken away by the minute... But this has to be the best one out of them. The Yosenjus make such a good contrast to Pendulum, being a repeatable, multiple Summon from Hand. And then... The reveal that they ALSO have Pendulums! And THEN how Sawatari skillfully managed his Pendulum Summons and Normal Summons to make sure his boss stays on the Field! This duel is a Crescendo of his own.
In Yuya's case... That also made him step up. Pendulum isn't unique to him anymore? He'll focus on what he's best at. Action Cards, by going for riskier and riskier acts for the audience, and playing games with the opponent with awkwardly specific cards such as the one that removes the Monsters' names if it leaves the Field. Yet again, another rivalry established not in bitterness.
Also Sawatari just playing the flute with a cheap costume is magical.
Shun vs Sora
There's not much I can say here that hasn't been said already. This is THE Duel that drew people in the fandom, and for many good reasons:
Strong overall back and forth in terms of skill between the two Duelists
Excellent subversion with the Duelists' placements on the splash screen, then their alignments
Constant rise in tension, each nove being more destructive than the last
Sora's meme faces
Shun's Rank-ups reaching a new high in power and destruction
Last but not least, the fact that it's the one Duel that unveils the Interdimensional War and makes you say: "OH, IT'S ON!" Yet, they don't reveal everything about it. It's yet again another mystery that the main characters have to solve. Heck, they couldn't know that it was between Dimensions yet. Yuzu and co. Would only know two days later.
In general, this whole batch of episodes really drew me in to the main plot in general, and I just went in because of musical fairies.

Note
I know so little about Yugioh beyond the memes about the show. I have no idea how the game works. But I love the idea of playing card games so when we meet, it’s on the condition that you spend as much time as you need explaining how the game works to me. Pls 🥺
!!! I would LOVE to! This game SUCK I love it! It doesn't *actually* suck but like. The card game is actually based on the original manga, not the other way around like Pokemon (where the video game came first and the anime is based on that). So the game needed to capture the spirit of the story, right? Where everyone's deck is 1) V specific to themselves and their character, and 2) rather than trying to be a tangible game, a LOT of cards and effects were designed to be super dramatic, explore a character's psyche, and keep the pace of the episodes (this is why EVERYONE draws pot of greed lmao). The result of this is that the game has become. Completely Unhinged (affectionate, sometimes). This is where the fun comes in because it's very interactive! You have ways to interact with your opponent *on their turn*, the deck I currently play can actually uh. Have a Whole Turn on my opponent's turn! And there's no mana system so a single turn is much more likely to completely turn the game around bc if the card's in your hand you can probably Do The Thing!
BUT. The game is 1) bereft of a lot of very sensible rules that other TCGs follow because they are generically very sensible whatever your design goals are, and 2) FULL of obscure rulings that no other card game would do because Why The Fuck Would You Make It Work Like That. It also doesn't set-rotate; Magic and Pokemon every year take older sets *out* of play to create a more focused meta game, and not have to worry about how newer mechanics interact with old ones. YuGiOh does NOT do this, and instead maintains a banlist so that if a card does have those interactions it can be gotten rid of, but they are very slow to do this. So you do still have to make it through some completely unhinged formats where a terrible card from 2001 is the lynchpin that will let your opponent set up five boss monsters and rip 3 cards out of your hand before you've even had a turn. The power level of modern decks is ridiculous, people go through combos TURN ONE that eat through half their deck to make a very powerful field. There are counters bc the game is built around it but it is a lot. That being said! The basics of the game are pretty straightforward? And there's an alt format called Speed Duels which is built more around like, nostalgia from the show and is waaay easier to get to grips with, so if you wanted to try it we could try that! I have made this game sound very daunting and unfun but I promise it's good u just need to find the right way in!!!!

50 Great Things in Children of the Comet
Strange New Worlds | Children of the Comet | Ghosts of Illyria Part 1 & Part 2 | Memento Mori | Spock Amok | Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach | Serene Squall | The Elysian Kingdom | All Those Who Wander | A Quality of Mercy
Strange New Worlds season one, episode two let's gooooo...
There's a system named Persephone!
Disclaimer: Hazing is bad. But dinner in the captain's cabin is a really great introduction to Uhura's character. We get to see how she acts under pressure before the stakes are MUCH higher later in the episode
Ortegas' off duty attire is always so on point. Love it. More officers in their civvies, please
First mention of Enterprise Bingo (although wearing your dress uniform to a casual gathering is not one of the items on the list in the current iteration of the game seen in episode five - I'm guessing the rules change as new waves of cadets/yeomen/ensigns are stationed on the ship with a few fan favorites like singing the Scorch probably carry over)
Captain's dinner sounds like such a great opportunity for the lower decks to mingle and get to know the senior officers in a less formal setting. Plus, all the senior officers are also helping to make dinner which is an additional low-stress way to work in some team-building. A+
"My father like to say that I was unburdened by conversational boundaries." "So this will be fun for you, then." 😂
Ortegas immediately gets drafted to help refill drinks because she's senior staff, leaving Uhura without her wingman and man did I feel that moment of panic as she's left standing alone at the door
The captain is making enough ribs to feed an entire deck of people jfc lol
Hemmer and Uhura, as we will see, are always great together. And who can resist a character introduction where each side underestimates the other and ends up taking everyone down a peg.
Number One in the background casually listening in and ready with a glass of wine for Uhura after she tells Spock and Hemmer to get a life 😂
Spock trying to figure out when it's okay to laugh at someone else's misfortune is endearing
Uhura is IMPRESSIVE. Thirty-seven languages. T h i r t y - s e v e n. I can't even name 37 languages off the top of my head. And not just speaking those languages, but studying the linguistics of those languages as well which is a whole other animal. Damn girl.
Number One watching Pike as he chokes on the where do you want to be in 10 years question 🥺
Uhura being unsure of whether she belongs in Starfleet is relatable and refreshing to see! Also nice that her grandmother's stories inspired her to join - and nice to know some people really do get to retire from Starfleet and live, presumably, happy, quiet lives
Number One staying behind to wash dishes by herself so she can check on Pike and Pike being all I have to do this and her being all the future isn't written, I refuse to believe there isn't another way
Bridge troubleshooting!
Pike stage whispering "I love this job!" to Number One and then her s m i l e
This crew has the best WTF expressions
Guys we are just at the credits now
Ready Room troubleshooting!
Uhura's expressions is the correct expression for when one realizes their first away mission will be to a chunk of rock hurtling toward impact with a planet instead of like, a mission to make contact with a new alien species that looks like giant bunnies or something #ignoreme
La'An, be nice to Kirk and Uhura, they don't have balls of steel like you do. But nice continuity from the first episode as they receive the painful anti-cosmic ray hypos
Chapel flirting with oblivious Spock
And Kirk is immediately zapped by the space egg - but love the tricorder defibrillator and the fact that the Starfleet insignia on the exosuit is the point where the shock is delivered
The Deneb character designs are really beautiful - I would love to check back in with them post-planetary climate adjustment
Bridge troubleshooting II!
Spock being offended at Uhura's joke about him and Chapen is amazing, as is his insistence that logic is better suited for situation such as these (okay Mary Bennett)
The Shepherd ship is cool but excuse me where the eff were they hiding this whole time??
I am digging the alien designs this season. But why are they all blue except for the Gorn?
Oof, great example of the slide between religious observer (this is our sacred holy comet, pronouns are he/him, please stop shooting photon torpedo casings at him) and zealot (our sacred things are more important and sacred than anyone else's, even life itself, and therefore it does not matter what the consequences are, M'hanit will not be stopped).
Spock's pep talk on the comet
Spock realizing his earlier criticism of Uhura's motives and presence on the Enterprise after the captain's dinner was too harsh, contributing to her spiral into self-doubt, and then trying to fix it by saying that "Today, quite simply [she is] the only person for the job. Will you rise to see it through?"
The holy sparkling cave is muuuuuusical 😍
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME what position on the bridge does Number One even have? She just sits at whatever station she wants to, I guess? Even if there's already a crew member stationed there? Isn't she supposed to be the helmsman but she has never once actually driven the ship?? Help, I don't know how TOS-era bridge crews work #UnaNeedsADesignatedChair
Musical comet troubleshooting!
La'An claiming she can't sing and leaving Spock out to dry 😂
Spock and Uhura singing together and then the cave resonating the same tonal sequence gives me chills every time... and the way her face lights up when the egg opens! "So the right time for genius."
Star Trek impact falls are the best
Escape pattern April-Omega-3
Crazy space monks
Pike knowing about Ortegas bragging during the Academy is gold and I bet he picked her for the ship because of that energy
Evasive pattern Ortegas-Gamma-1
I like the way the shields aren't a bubble around the ship, more like an electric skin around the hull with luminescence when hit
Also, seeing actual evasive maneuvers on a ship larger than a shuttlecraft is exciting
The plan to move M'hanit is cool... the most epic game of "I'm not touching you" ever
Spock laughing
The space monks were right?! Still zealots
The completely unironic way Number One suggests that Spock's Ice Shuttle Adventure was foretold
Spock rescinding his criticism of Uhura, changing his opinion to be favorable toward her and acknowledging the strengths she brings regardless of how she has come to join their crew (A+ growth, Pike would be proud)
Number One and Pike sharing a drink in the ready room and having another heart to heart

anyway i like dnd so im v interested in how this is gonna transpire with apparently 2 dms and only 2 players
homebrewed tho owo
waiting for the custom stuff to show up
OH lyra being like “understand this roman is different from the sander sides one please and thank you” lmaoooo
im wondering if this is all improv also like did the team minus thomas and terrance make a whole story for this and they dont know?
also the dialogue is pretty clean despite some goofs when the two main characters first met
probably thanks to there only being 2 people but like. idk! good for them :)
also im surprised roman has a 16/17 on dex idk why
why is he investigating the thefts when he hasnt even told youngblood about them lmfao
oh i forgot to mention but there are ANIMATICS and ACTED PARTS??? thats so fuckin cool
the somewhat clumsy improv dialogue is just. SO DND
“s-so. what’s your name ? !” yup. should’ve been like the 3rd thing you said but Big Mood
roman not knowing what singing is is insane
i thought he was gonna be a bard fighter or smth but again this is homebrew
god i wanna know the lore of this world already. how are different races treated? how different is this world from classic 5e since its homebrew
like personally i play in a traditional 5e world way way less often. there is a lot of homebrew :]
not to say that sticking to the traditional dnd world is bad, its a very very nice foundation for new players/dms but branching out creatively is also nice
ANYWAY I DERAILED THE POST WHOOPS
i forgot to say I LOVE AUNT PATTY IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO HER IM CLOCKING AJ ON THE SPOT
bread,,, i want bread
goat power lmao
oh i thought youngblood would’ve had a way higher intelligence stat. its just 12/13 huh

What I Thought About "Yesterday's Lie" from The Owl House
Salutations, random people on the internet who absolutely won’t read this! I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons!
Here it is! The midseason finale of The Owl House Season Two! An episode featuring Luz going back to the human realm, is hyped up to heaven about how painful it'll be for the audience, and features more anxiety by how Creepy Luz is a thing. And BOOOOOOOOY howdy were fans not ready for this. I'm sure as hell not ready for when I wrote this intro at *checks time* thirty minutes before watching the official premier. Yup, the words you're reading right now are from me in the past, when everything was still pure and simple. Whereas future me is still probably destroyed by the events that transpired. Isn't that right, future me?
Future Me: Actually, it wasn’t that bad. The ending hurt, sure, but other than that, it wasn’t too painful.
Wow, that is some neat input! At least, I think it was. I wouldn't know because I literally wrote that after watching the episode. With the words you're currently reading being written at *checks time* twenty-six minutes before the premier...this whole intro is confusing, isn't it, future me?
Future Me: Sure is.
Yeah, it's definitely confusing. In any case, let's dive into this spoiler-filled review as we find out together just how painful this episode was! Take it away, future me!
Future Me: Will do! Major spoilers ahead, folks!
Now, let’s review, shall we?
WHAT I LIKED
Luz’s Room: We only see it for a short time, but everything about it just screams Luz. The pile of weird-looking stuffed animals, the witch hat in the center of the floor, and the fact that she has bunk beds, a single child's dream (Or so I've heard). It's a small thing, but I love it.
Vee: Here she is! The character previously dubbed Creepy Luz who now turns out to be yet another new addition to the ever-growing list of characters that we, as a fandom, would give our lives for. Because holy s**t was Vee the best type of expectation subversion. Showing us all the ominous ways of how she basically took Luz's place made fans assume that Vee was an evil doppelganger. Turns out, she was just a tortured soul that was desperate to live a new and better life and lucked out in finding Luz's. What Vee does is...questionable at best, but seeing what she went through with the experiments Belos pulled on her, you understand why she would do it. And I personally love it's that same background information that makes Vee resentful of Luz of all people. Luz's life is a relative dream come true, and running away from that would be insane to someone who spent most of their existence through imprisonment and experimentation. It's an intriguing point of view, even though it's admittingly flawed given how it's mostly Camila that seemingly made Luz's life bearable. But the flaws don't matter. What matters is that you can see where Vee is coming from, and to me, personally, I think she's understandable enough to make me root for her to have some kind of happy ending. Whether as Luz or as herself, I'm hopeful to see Vee get some semblance of peace.
Camila: *Round of applause* Don't mind me! Just taking the time to love how all them sons of b**hes who thought Camila was a bad mom are now heavily invalidated. 'Cause, guess what? Camila is a fantastic mother, both to her daughter and her daughter's doppelganger! Allow me to walk you through the highlights:
How Camila looks like she’s not okay with the fact that "Luz" is clearing out her weird stuff, seemingly acting too different to the Luz she knows. Added to the fact that Camila doesn't like it.
How Camila drove Luz to camp whether than letting her take the bus
The fact that Camila takes that box of junk back in, not willing to part with the tin foil sculpture Luz made.
The way she was willing to play along with the game she thought Luz was doing, supporting her daughter's creative mind that Camila admits to being glad to see.
And, best of all, the willingness Camila had to help this poor creature, despite the lies it lived.
It's that last part I really want to touch upon, though. Because an action like that shows just how much Luz's heart comes from Camila. The kindness and generosity of helping this poor creature, who she has every right to run out on, proves how Luz learned to be everything she is today through Camila's own loving heart. Vee was scared and hurt, and the second Camila saw that she was then more than willing to help because of it. It's something that Luz would do, and it proves that even though Camila didn't exactly get everything right, she's still a great mom where it counts.
“A new life”: A perfect line.
Initially, it makes audiences think that it has everything to do with replacing Luz. It's only through future context that we know it's about escaping the s**t show Vee once lived through that it's clear she's talking about starting over. It hits us with intrigue on the first viewing, only to hit harder with the feels during a second. Really well-done.
Luz in the Mirror: A well-done surprise that makes fans curious about how this even happen in the first place. Kudos to you, writers.
The New Portal: I don't mind that they found a way to build this off-screen. Showing Luz and the gang slowly building a new portal would have been a little too tedious to watch, and it's so much better to just start this episode out with it. Besides, maybe we'll get the slow and steadier version now that we've seen how quickly building one might not have been the best way to go, given how fast that thing fell apart.
Luz Between Dimensions: I have no clue what the hell that place she was in is called, but it's awesome! The overall design of the realm is the correct type of unsettling, like it's oozing with mystery, but it's somewhere that you probably don't want to be in for too long. Whoever designed it deserves all of the credit because I don't want to even think about all the hard work that went into making this look as well-made as it was.
Luz Resisting to See Amity: What? Luz and Amity are adorable, and seeing Luz's immediate thought about seeing Amity makes my shipping heart scream with glee. Don't judge me!
Hiding Luz’s Dad’s Face: Well, that was a fun story while it lasted.
So, it turns out that Luz's dad really was a part of Luz's and Camila's life at some point, but not anymore. As for why remains to be seen, as we don't really know yet if we'll see him make an appearance. I'd say that the odds are high that he will, given how much of a point this episode made about keeping his face hidden. Shows don't usually do that unless the goal is to hype up some official reveal, and I can't wait to see what comes of it.
Luz Telling Herself to Count to Five: Hey, more evidence for how I relate to Luz! I know how it feels to be all panicky about a specific situation, and I only got better when I took the time to calm down for a bit. Sometimes, I even tried the "count to x" method that Luz used...it never worked, primarily because it made me feel worse when people told me to do it, but I still tried it! Plus, there's also some narrative foreshadowing when after Luz says five, the realm shows her Vee, or Number V, which is a pretty cool detail you'll notice on a rewatch.
Luz Helping Vee: I gave Camila praise for helping Vee in the end, but that doesn't abstain Luz from her own set of recognition. The second that Luz realized that Vee wasn't really a threat and is far from evil, our favorite human does what she can to help and even makes a deal where they're both happy. Because, of course, Luz is that perfect of a protagonist who is more than willing to help others in need. And it's why we love her so.
Looking for Magic that Eda Left Behind: A pretty cool idea that gives Luz and Vee a chance to bond and giving us an insight into Eda's past antics and misadventures in the human realm. Not much I can add to it, though.
Gravesfield: It's surprisingly not as jarring as I thought it would be to spend an episode in the human realm. I thought for sure, after all that time in the Boiling Isles, there would be something off about walking around a normal environment for a change. Turns out, it's almost easy to get used to. Or, for me, it is.
But I will say that there's this neat use of colors when comparing Gravesfield with the Boiling Isles. In Gravesfield, the coloring looks dulled down and standard, which is a stark contrast to the bright vibrancy of everything we've seen in the Boiling Isles. It's a subtle way of showing how things are different, aside from the major discrepancies we could come to expect. And I think that's why I appreciate it much more.
Eda’s Called Herself Marylynn in the Human Realm: Hang on...hang on...do you mean to tell me that the crack theory about Eda being Stan's ex-wife is actually true?
...
...What even is this show?!
Vee Making Friends with Camp Members: This shows the most apparent difference between Luz and Vee. Where we see Luz is already fearing the many ways that could go wrong with interacting with teens, Vee revealed that she adapted to her situation and had a chance to make friends. The implications of this are worth discussing another time, but for now, I'll say that it's pretty intriguing that we gain this much insight into both Luz and Vee through such a small thing.
Belos Wanting to Learn How Basilisks can Drain Magic: ...Didn't Raine say that Belos was taking away magic? If so, I think we can figure out how he's doing it. The question now is: Why?
Jacob (The Curator Guy): This guy was a riot. At first, Jacob seemed like a threat with the way he trapped Vee and was apparently stocking her, but the second he goes off about his conspiracy theories, it becomes clear what type of character he is. And was it a blast seeing how much of a crackpot this man is. It wasn't cool seeing him wanting to dissect the precious angel that is Vee, but I still chuckle about things like his "Flat Eather's Certificate." So while he's not that much of a threat, he's still fun to watch.
The Owl Beast was in the Human Realm: ...How did that happen? When did it happen? And how the hell did Eda get out of a situation like that?! Who knows, but it's still a shocking piece of news to learn.
Luz Telling Camila the Truth: Hey, she faced her fear after all! Although, the results aren't as pleasant as when Amity faced her fear two weeks ago.
Camila is a Veterinarian: ...One insignificant reveal...managed to destroy so many fanfics. I mean, we probably shouldn't have just assumed Camila was a nurse...but what the f**k else were we supposed to think?! Sorry for seeing the scrubs, and the first thing that came to my mind was "nurse" and not "vet."
By the way, that had to have been intentional, right? There's no way that Dana Terrace didn't think we'd assume Camila was a nurse. She'd had to have put off a reveal like that just to trip up her fans. And if that's the case, then that is a major d**k move...but that's why I mildly respect it.
Two Human Brothers went to the Demon Realm: Turns out we don't have to be in the Boiling Isles to learn more about it. Because now we have more information about how two humans were taken to the Isles with the help of a witch, thus setting up a grander reveal if it turns out that one of the humans was Philip and the witch was Belos. Because if that's true...then there's more of a history between those two than we thought.
Jacob has a Training Wand: This helps me believe that it's highly likely for Jacob to make a return and to have a power boost for when he does. After all, focussing all that attention on the training wand is way too convenient for it not to come up again in the future. Meaning we're most likely going to get more pain from Jacob if he shows up again.
Camila Beats the Crap out of Jacob for Vee: ...Writers, don't make me choose between Camila and Eda on who's the better cartoon mom. I know Eda's technically not a mom...BUT I STILL DON'T WANT TO CHOOSE DAMNIT!
Also, the sandal...just...
Why the f**k does Camila have a sandal in her purse? I don't know. Is it still funny that she does? Most certainly.
Camila and Luz’s Talk in the Rain: Ooooooooh, I was not ready for this...
I wasn't ready for the crying.
I wasn't ready for the hurt in Camila's eyes when she found out Luz chose to stay in the Boiling Isles.
I wasn't ready for Camila asking if Luz hates being with her that much.
I wasn't ready for Luz profusely stating how it was never Camila's fault.
I was not ready for Camila to tell Luz that she'll try to do better.
And I definitely was not ready for Luz to barely have enough time to promise that she'll come back.
This episode wasn't the twenty-two minutes of nonstop angst that I thought it was going to be...but this short scene more than make up for it.
Luz Tries to Stay Strong: Yet another thing she unwittingly learned from Camila. Camila tried to keep a brave face when Vee was with her and Luz, most likely not wanting to tear either of them down in the process. Luz does the same thing here as she avoids talking about the details of what went down in her sort-of journey back home. And seeing her clearly fake smile slowly droop into an uncertain frown, it uh...it definitely tore me up inside.
WHAT I DISLIKED
I want to say it's perfect, but there's one major issue that really bogs this episode down.
Continuity Error in How Vee Replaced Luz: Having Vee take Luz's place the same day Luz appeared in the Isles is a smart idea on paper...if it wasn't for the fact that it's impossible.
Because Eda closed the portal door the second that she saw Luz, meaning that there's no way for Vee to go to the human realm. It's a major plothole that makes no sense, and it might just be the first time ever that this series wasn't so closely knit with its story. Which ends up taking a dive in quality in the process.
IN CONCLUSION
I'd say that "Yesterday's Lie" is an A-. Everything about Luz, Vee, and Camila is incredible, combined into a story that ends in tragedy and uncertainty for the future. That plothole may drag things down a bit, but everything else is handled so well that I'm not lying when I say it's easy to forgive and forget.
(And that's ten episodes in a row without a single stinker. HOW THE F**K DOES THIS SEASON KEEP WINNING?!)

HeliosR - Victor Valentine Card story ‘‘Seeking for what’s frightening’’
Tumblr media
Translation of Victor Valentine’s 4* ‘’Gothic Halloween’’ card story from ‘Helios Rising Heroes’.
Gray: Uwah, amazing… Did you make this, Victor-san…?
Victor: Yes, this robot was built by me. I’m occupied with pouring all my time into producing these for the upcoming Halloween League.
Gray:  I had assumed you were leaning more towards biochemistry… But to be able to build robots too, that’s seriously amazing...
Victor: As you thought my area of expertise is chemistry, however if I had to be honest, I barely have the confidence to manufacture these…
Victor: And on top of it, I had been also struggling with the design itself...
Gray: Eh… Wondering if it has enough punch to it, you mean… I already think it’s scary enough as is though....
Victor: Adding that pinch of “scary” has been considerably difficult. I’ve been making these as requested by Marion, but as far as the details go, I’ve only received how it should be thematically based on “evil spirits of Halloween”.
Victor: Naturally I have referred to literature to form a general outline on the matter, but what traits resemble an “evil spirit”, about it having a factor of “spookiness” to it...  No matter how far I go with investigating the matter, I simply cannot draw the line where it’d be most suitable.
Gray: Like evil spirits… spookiness….
Victor: What is your impression of it, Gray? Do you think it’s able to represent those traits of an “evil spirit”?
Gray: Eh? Eeeh… uh, um…
Victor: Please do not hold yourself back, and be as candid as you can.
Gray: Be as candid as I can… Right, right...
Gray: Whether or not it looks like one, I can say that it’s absolutely close but… Um… on the contrary, it might actually be a bit too scary...
Gray: H-how do I say this… It’s like originally you were going for CERO A but ended up heading towards CERO D instead…?
Victor: CERO……? What may that be?
Gray: Ah… awawah, sorry…. I used a game rating system for scale… a Japanese one too…
Gray: The Halloween League is an event that children will attend, in terms of gaming that would be for an event for all ages...
Gray: But, as of now it feels more that it’s heading towards a more mature audience… So I was thinking all like, how about aiming for a younger one instead~... but please don’t mind it too much...
Victor: Hmm, I see…That is very interesting, or I should rather say an intriguing point of view.
Victor: I will do as you said and make an attempt to aim for a younger demographic, however with how it has been currently going, I don’t quite have the grasp on what I should do to change it.
Victor: If you don’t mind, could you tell me more about video games for all ages to use as a reference point going forward?
Gray: !! O-ofcourse…!
-
Victor: Hooh.... Even though it’s shortly summed up as for all ages, there seems to be quite a variety of video games.
Gray: For now I kept it limited and looked up horror games that came to mind… You’d come across even more games if you were to look it up
Gray: Uuum… if you’re looking for a game that has enemies that are “evil spirit”-like, then maybe this one…?
Victor: Yes, that kind of caricature is good. It gives an impression closely resembling the ones in animation for children.
Gray: P-personally I think it’s good if it’s as scary as these enemy characters here but… That is for you to decide...
Victor: Hmm…. If I were to judge from your perspective, would this be more scarier?
Gray: Eh? Yes… it, would be….?
Gray: I feel, that the difference is pretty obvious but… you don’t seem to think so, Victor-san?
Victor: Indeed. Even though we’re going in a different direction, I don’t feel that any of them are frightening, thus making it difficult to judge.
Gray: R-right…
Gray: Uh… I’m just asking this out of curiosity but… Is there, something that you’re scared of, Victor-san…?
Victor: Something that I’m scared of?
Gray: Ah, aaah, uuum, it’s just… it’s okay if it’s too hard to answer, or if you don’t want to! I suddenly asked something weird anyway, I’m sorry….
Victor: Fufu, what are you apologizing for? I don’t believe it was odd by any means.
Victor: Something I’m scared of… you ask? I haven’t played any video games before so on that matter I have nothing to say, and in regards to horror movies I don’t recall being frightened once.
Gray: Eh… so you’re like, totally fine with ghosts and demons and all that…?
Victor: More that I don’t believe in such things due to my point of view as a scientist, rather than being fine with it.
Victor: Well, realistically speaking “Ghosts believing scientists” such as Nova are not too uncommon out there.
Victor: I do want to believe in the possibility of it… Unfortunately, I have yet to see a theory that justifies it to begin with.
Gray: Wah… you’re amazing, Victor-san…. Makes me a bit embarrassed given how I accidentally believe in anything...
Victor: No, I wouldn’t say that I am. I do occasionally envy those who are able to simply enjoy horror movies as is.
Gray: Is that so…?
Victor: Do you have any issues when it comes to horror and occult, Gray?
Gray: Aah, no… I’ve built up a tolerance for it because of games that are full of it...
Gray: Besides, I think… humans are scarier than any ghost or demon, 100 times more scarier even….
Victor: Human themselves…. For example, such as Asch Albright?
Gray: !! Eh, eeeeh…. yes… His name alone makes me sweat bullets, weirdly enough...
Gray: But, not just A….sch, but I’m scared of coming in contact with other people in general...
Gray: Even before talking to them actually, like what if they hate me…. what if they think I’m weird… that’s all I end up thinking about
Victor: Which means that you are currently feeling the same sense of dread when talking to me this moment?
Gray: T-that’s right… Aaah, but, you’re not scary Victor-san… Um, it’s just...
Victor: Yes, I understand. I’ve mentioned it before, but I don’t believe there’s anything odd about you, Gray.
Gray: V-Victor-san….!
Victor: My apologies for getting us sidetracked. Could you lend me your wisdom for a little longer?
Gray: Ah, yes… yes of course!
--
Nova: Oooh, looks like you made a lotta progress~ Making ghouls and all♪
Victor: I was able to because of the advice I had received from Gray, and so I was finally able to see the light.
Nova: Good pals with Gray-kun now, eh? Well with Ren-kun too but, lately more people have been dropping by your lab. Lookit this celebrity here~♪
Victor: ...You’re surprisingly in a good mood today, aren’t you now?
Nova: Mmh, haven’t slept so I’m feeling somewhat all over the place
Nova: I’ve been absorbed into making these robots too, and before I knew it three whole days had passed~ That scared me real good, yanno
Nova: Wait a second, nobody came to see me in these three days….!? I wanna be a celeb tooooo~!
Victor: How about resting your mind and body, rather than dawdling around here?
Nova: Naaw~ The adrenaline’s coursing through my veins, not feeling tired in the slightest~
Nova: Whatever you say, making these robots is right where I belong. Had lotsa fun doing it too
Nova: Obviously I’m paying enough attention to safety and all that, but there’s more space to feel at ease compared to what I usually do for work….
Nova: Not that I’m forgetting substance research by any means, it’s just pretty nerve-racking when combined with making assets and tools for the heroes to fight with
Nova: Didn’t mean to pay that much mind to it, still it’s a heavy responsibility to have one’s life in your hands...
Nova: Makes me go all like, damn, this fear of failure and what to do about it sure is always growing ain’t it now!~ like some kinda realisation each time, yanno
Victor: ….., fear….
Nova: You’re always doing such a fantastic job, me~
Nova: A Summerfieldtastic job~....
Victor: …….
Nova: Eh, no response!? Here I was putting all my energy into being an idiot, and instead of straight manning me, you straight up ignore me!?
Victor: Aah, my apologies… There was something on my mind.
Victor: What did you say?
Nova: I-I didn’t say a word! Vic’s a dummy! I’m gonna go to my room and sleep! Good-NIGHT!!!
Victor: …..?

Fun trivia corner:
The Japanese game rating goes from CERO A to D, and Z. All ages would be CERO A, for 12 years old and above CERO B, for 15 years old and above CERO C, for 17 years old and above CERO D, and at last CERO Z for 18 and above. The European one is PEGI with age specific ratings (PEGI-3, or PEGI-18) and the American one is ESRB, with letter codes such as T for teen, M for mature, and so on. Helios is rated as 12+ on the Apple app store, that would be CERO A, PEGI-12 or ESRB T.

monty’s horror movie list
no one follows me for this but i’m back in my horror movie obsession era so here we go. some of them are good, some of them are bad (but I love them), and some of them are kind of unacceptable, like, morally tbh, I’m sorry
anyway, in no particular order:
mother!: I just watched this one today so it’s on my mind. get ready to be stressed out by deeply uncomfortable social situations for like, the first hour and a half and then genuinely disturbed for the last twenty minutes. i finished this and then sat in my room mouthing “what the fuck, what the fuck”. v good, 10/10
Orphan: What if you adopted a kid but they sucked?
Absentia: I was really impressed, cause this was like a low-budget, crowd funded movie but it’s so so good. This one is about a woman whose husband went missing years ago, a creepy tunnel, and family relationships. V quiet and sad
Possum: Not very much happens in this movie for a long time but the atmosphere is so good, and it’s genuinely creepy. The ending also made me so uncomfortable I almost couldn’t watch it, so there’s that
The Wolf House: Incredible unsettling stop-motion animation, and I’m a sucker for good animation. Makes more sense if you know a little Chilean history, but it’s interesting even without that context
Amityville: It’s About Time: Jumping right from that foreign arthouse film into cheesy schlock, what if a clock made people evil and fucked up?
Hell House LLC: More! Schlock! This is a fake documentary/found footage movie about people trying to make a haunted house in an old hotel... but what if it was haunted for real??
Host (the 2020 shudder original): Unfriended if it was good
Hereditary: Made me sad :( This was one of the first movies to genuinely scare me in a while, and my sister-in-law won’t even let anyone talk to her about it. The story about a family dealing with grief and complicated relationships is also just so interesting to me, this one’s in my top 10
Anything for Jackson: Reverse possession movie: they try to put a spirit IN someone! Hell yeah. So many good, weird ghosts in here, I love some good, weird ghosts
13 Ghosts: (the early 2000s remake) Speaking of good weird ghosts. What if your estranged uncle died and left you a house but there was a ghost jail in the basement? I just rewatched this movie with my little brother and remembered how much I love it. Very schlocky, Matthew Lillard’s acting is off the fucking walls and I love it, why does he act like that??
Kindred: One of the only “is it in her head, or is it real?” movies where I actually really wasn’t sure. It’s about a woman whose husband dies right before she’s about to give birth, so she ends up staying with his family and slowly starts to question their motives
Parents: What if you were just a little kid and you started to suspect your parents were eating people?
Basket Case: I’m not crying over a B movie, I’m not crying over a B movie. In this one, two conjoined twins are surgically separated against their wills, with one of them getting thrown in the trash. As adults, they start hunting down the doctors who did it to them
The Poughkeepsie Tapes: Very depressing fake documentary about a serial killer. Just fucked up and sad
The Taking of Deborah Logan: One of the few found footage movies that I think is actually good. A small documentary crew goes to film a woman and her aging mother who’s suffering from dementia, but they start to think that... huh, maybe this is something a little worse than dementia...
Ju-On: The Grudge (the original Japanese one): this movie just freaks me out, I don’t like how Kayako moves around, I don’t like the sounds she makes, and I don’t like her weird little son
The Ring (the American remake): I saw this movie when I was like 8 bc someone recorded it over the Willy Wonka VHS I’d gotten from the thrift store, and I’ve been fucked up ever since. In it, a woman sees a cursed tape that will make you die in seven days, and has to try and figure out how to save herself before then. GREAT atmosphere, very creepy
Sadako Vs Kayako: What if the girl from the Grudge and the girl from the Ring fought each other? Hell yeah. Plus, love that a ghost hunter comes to help with the situation and he’s got a random mean little girl with him. People are like “why is she here?” and he’s just like “she’s my associate” okay?? Where did she come from??? I’m obsessed with this movie
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: A classic. Rancid, nasty atmosphere, just feels gross, 10/10
Society: Rich people suck so so bad and are very fucked up
House of 1000 Corpses: I love this movie and I’m sorry, its just some disgusting, campy fun. Like, what if your car broke down the night before halloween and ended up in a house with some terrible (but very entertaining) people?
Oculus: The idea of being a little kid, stuck in the house while your parents are slowly losing it, or potentially being possessed by something evil, is really scary to me. This movie does it so well. It moves back and forth from the main characters going through that in their childhoods, to them as adults, back in the house where it happened, and it’s so so good
Hellraiser: You tell me it’s about the blurry line between pleasure and pain and I watch it. The designs for the cenobites are so good. I like this first one a lot, but I also really enjoy the second one bc the torture dimension looks like MC Escher designed it and it’s sick as hell
The Others: This is one of my favorite, like, classic haunted house kind of movie. A mother keeps her kids inside an old mansion, with all the curtains drawn, because they have an illness that means they can’t go in the sunlight. Very, very creepy
The Blair Witch Project: This one just feels so real, I’ve never seen another found footage movie that reached this level. The actors knocked it out of the park, how am I so freaked out just by a couple of people wandering around the woods? It’s the blueprint, honestly
A Nightmare on Elm Street: You guys know this one, he gets you in your dreams! Probably my favorite of the classic slashers, I love some good old practical effects. my brother actually just bought me the WHOLE box set for my birthday so I’m gonna start working though the ones I haven’t seen yet
Jennifer’s Body: What if your best friend, who you have a very homoerotic relationship with, started eating dudes? Iconic. No, but seriously, this movie has a lot more going on than you might think
House of Wax (the 2000s remake): Bad, but so good. It’s really got that uncanny valley thing going on, love that fucked up wax museum
Ichi the Killer: Pretty unacceptable, I can’t in good conscience tell you to watch this movie, but it’s definitely an experience. Very very very violent, like super violent, but in the wildest fucking ways. Basically, what if you were a masochistic Yakuza member with a weird joker mouth and you just wanted a sadistic vigilante to beat the absolute shit out of you? Anyway, I think there’s something wrong with Takashi Miike and probably also me
Black Christmas: This is one of the og og slashers. It’s about girls getting killed in a sorority house, but surprisingly it’s like, not really an exploitation film, and I really like the characters. Good, unsettling killer, too
The Baby: WEIRD. Weird and uncomfortable. I’m not trying to kink shame anyone when I say this, but it’s probably definitely a fetish thing. In it, a social worker takes on the case of a family with an adult son who they’re claiming has the mind of a baby. This one’s probably kind of unacceptable too, to be honest with you

Question: What inspired you to make this comic/these characters?
TL;DR: MY LOVE OF OCS, HISTORY, AND BL DRAMA.
LONG VERSION: okay it really is kinda hard to pin any specific inspiration other than i just really like OCs and historical fiction and this character dynamic, but i feel like i get this question and similar ones a lot SO I'M JUST GONNA REALLY DIG INTO IT THIS TIME, give as thorough of an answer as i can.
so in 2009, i played ragnarok online. A LOT. i played with my friend jenny (who is the comic co-writer) and we would make dumb characters and then get super attached to them. she made an airship pirate sniper named cicada, and i made a posh politician wizard named gladimir. they looked like this:
Tumblr media
my goal in designing glad was to make him the prettiest OC i had. most of my OCs are like... lanky old men and quirky ugly dudes, but glad was going to be GORGEOUS. and thus i made him to my taste, the prettiest boy i could manage. i'm just really into twinky pretty boys with bobs, so i guess you could call them my inspiration. here's some OG 2009 gladios:
Tumblr media
they're a dime a dozen in mainstream media now, see lio fotia, yuri plisetsky, shion kiba, that fairy prince from FGO... but glad predates them all, i was just following my heart LOL. characters like xellos from slayers or garma from gundam may have played a subconscious inspo role, but i only realized this in hindsight years later. tho weirdly enough they're both purple:
Tumblr media
anyway, jenny and i RPed a lot; having a friend to RP and be invested in OCs with you is always hugely invaluable inspiration for anything, i think! eventually our ragnarok online story kinda hit a dead end and got dropped for a while, until we picked it up again in 2015, and started exploring... ALTERNATE UNIVERSES. and the AU of "what if glad was a prince" just fucking TOOK OFF. insert old 2015 first doodle here:
Tumblr media
inspiration for THAT came from an alanis morissette song that i've linked before, which was this one LOL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGYCyQfbFHM
it gave me the idea for the golden trial in the comic, which served as the base for a whole new world of RP and plot building. IN FACT i would say that music in general became a huge point of inspiration, specifically french music due to the nature of glad's made up country being some french/english hybrid. so on that note, let me link you some more inspiration songs:
- french drama vibes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN4VLmo1QG4
- french emotional vibes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfW5FQ5iv2E
- english plot vibes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAI5mYVWotI
the inspo for the overall aesthetic of the characters just comes purely from history and historical fiction vibes that i like. royal european clothing and the age of sail are hot. i think there's some subconscious inspiration from utena and gundam as well:
Tumblr media
and inspo for the overall story i cant attribute to anything specific other than my friend’s interest, love for BL comics, and glad and cicada's character tropes. i love a classic brain & brawn duo, i love a short king with top energy, i love a heart of gold rowdy boy, and i love when you think two characters are completely opposite and then they turn out to be actually pretty similar. i don't know of any media that specifically fed me these vibes within the time frame we were making this story, but i will say that when promare came out it was PRETTY DAMN GREAT. here's glad dressed as lio because image breaks:
Tumblr media
lastly, what inspired me to actually make the comic: memento mori. like many people, i just sit on my flat ass making stories with my friends that will never be shared outside of that friend group, and for the most part i am 100% perfectly okay with this! but deep down i just knew i wanted to actually make a comic... i wanted to be able to look back on my life and say HEY, YOU DID IT, YOU MADE A THING. i'm a story lover, i'm a story teller, and i just needed to finally indulge in this in a more tangible way. dead men tell no tales.
Tumblr media
i was in my 30s when i started drawing the comic. it's never too late to start. >:9 start yours today.
o and i guess the narrative itself is just a general mishmash of ideas and tropes i think are fun, there’s no specific inspo there either. i like 90s anime, old video games, historical movies and documentaries, etc. i do pull from age of sail and pirate history for sure, that’s def a general inspiration for me! here’s some of my books on the subject, feel free to ask me for more titles/reccs if you’re into this stuff huhu:
Tumblr media
ALSO, the comic had no name until after i started drawing it, but the name came from a song as well, pls enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6R-BR9bzdMM
anyway i guess that's the deep dive into the inspo! if i think of anything else i'll just add it in later but MAN IF YOU READ THIS FAR, YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR. hope this answered everything and more, thanks for the question!!

PICK   FIVE   TROPES
Tumblr media
i.   screw the rules, i’m doing what’s right / good samaritan
The first one and I am already breaking the rules myself by combining two tropes into one, because I did not know which to pick. Esme possesses a lot of empathy. She cannot see anyone suffering and walk away. After she sees Quasi tied up and being mocked by the crowd and pelted with vegetables and possibly worse, she goes to him and steps onto the pillory, despite this meaning that she is spoiling an entire populace’s “fun”. At that moment, she does not care for them, she is only concerned about the person in front of her who is suffering. She tends to him, and even apologises to him, even though it is not her fault.
That is where the Good Samaritan comes in. As for screwing the rules, she lives in a society where the law considers her race a crime. She is always hiding, always running, just to get out of trouble. When Frollo tells her to stop helping Quasi and get lost, she is still trying to be polite and speaks in a calm tone and and addresses him as “Your Honour”. It is when he pushes it, that she finally snaps and pretty much screws it, and whips out her dagger and defies Frollo in front of everyone and lectures him for his hypocrisy.
ii.   defiant to the end
Esme’s first choice is to get out of trouble if she can, as mentioned above. But if cornered, she does not break down and does not back down, even though she is panicking inside. Whether it is retorting back at the two soldiers because they falsely accuse her of stealing, or sparring with Phoebus both verbally and physically when she thinks he is on the authorities’ side, or finally, spitting into Frollo’s face after he gives her an unthinkable ultimatum, Esme will never surrender. It is not a matter of pride or martyrdom (she would very much like to live in peace thank you very much), but it is about keeping her dignity and conscience.
iii.   world’s most beautiful woman
There is literally a lyric calling Esme the “finest girl in France”. Her whole design is gorgeous, with her poofy black hair, thick eyebrows, green eyes, brown skin and clothes that are quite detailed for a 2-d animated movie. The whole impression is to showcase how she stands out among a sea of people, holding them captive with her natural looks and sultry dances. Despite making her earthly and more mature than the previous Diz princesses, the animators / directors also imbue an ethereal quality in Esme, as angelic music is played in the background when Esme approaches Quasi to help him and soft candlelight caresses her face when she sings “God Help the Outcasts”.
A large part of what drives the movie and other characters’ motivation is Esme’s beauty after all. Phoebus is immediately drawn to her beauty in their first scene together - though he comes to appreciate her for so many other things later. Quasi - I think - is more touched by her kindness, but he does gape at her when she starts dancing during the festival and calls her a wonderful dancer later. Frollo in short sang Hellfire and burnt down Paris just to look for her.
iv.   reluctant fanservice girl
Being the most beautiful woman - as with dramatic stories - means Esme’s life isn’t easy. She uses her charms because they help her earn money, and it is pretty much the only way she can earn money. She is not educated, she is an outcast, worse, she is believed to be a witch. While comfortable in her talents and sexuality and while capable of being quite flirtatious, she does not enjoy relying on her looks and does not fully embrace being a sort of femme fatale. When she expresses wholehearted admiration for Quasi’s artistic talents, she says “Oh, if I could do this, you wouldn’t find me dancing in the streets for coins.” When Quasi protests and says she is a wonderful dancer, she sort of brushes it off and says “Well, it keeps bread on the table, anyway.” Given the chance, it seems clear that she will not choose dance as her job, no matter how much she likes it.
v.   improv fu
Esme fights hard and dirty with all she’s got. Two soldiers against her? High kick into one chin and Djali headbutting the other. Ten soldiers surrounding her at Frollo’s order? Disappear in a puff of pink smoke, use the people to crowd-surf and swing a metal helmet at the soldiers themselves etc. etc. Phoebus catching her off-guard and waving a sword at her? Take a candlestick and aim it between his legs before slamming it into his face. She is quick to check her surroundings and make use of whatever she can get her hands on.

Pc Games With Character Creation Offline
Tumblr media
Games With Character Customization Pc
Steam Games With Character Creation
One of the things I love most in a RPG (Role-Playing Game) is the possibility of creating my own character with tons of different options and add-ons. I made a research yesterday and found some interesting PC Games I already knew about, adding them to the titles I have or plan to get with the best Character Customization. I’m going to list them here for you guys also attaching a few videos so that you can see directly how they work and what kind of possibilities they offer.
It’s the main reason I enjoy games like Skyrim and Fallout. But there seem to be so few good (single player) games with decent character creation - and not just picking from a few presets. The character creation in Dragon Age: inquisition was amazing (although I struggled to enjoy the game) as well as Saints Row (which I really enjoyed). Addicting Offline Co-op Games For PC You’ll Want To Play. Dennis Patrick / Features / Best Co-op PC Games, Co-op, Cooperative. Sonic the Hedgehog is a staple video game character. Best MMORPG with Character Creation. Final Fantasy 14 has one of the most complex and sophisticated character editors. In this game, you can change the smallest details using different sliders, pick a unique voice, or add unique tattoos, accessories and facial paint. What Are Best RPGs With Character Creation? Role-playing games let us live out some of our greatest fantasies like slaying dragons, saving the world and owning a house. Whether your main character is dead, alive, or somewhere in between, these games will let you adjust your appearance and abilities to however you see fit. I've always loved games that give you the option to create your character before you start in the world. I enjoy the game even more when it has role playing or social aspects added to it, allowing you interact with NPCs, or other players if the game has a multiplayer feature. Just character creation would interest me enough to check any game out.
Follow me under the cut if you’re curious!
I’ve been introduced to this type of creation with a game I still keep in my heart and consider one of the best of all times; The Sims 2. Seriously, I’ve created so many 3D characters that if I could win an award I’d have 200 on my shelf by now.
With that said, here you are my personal list of PC games with their awesome customization in no particular order:
I tried this game myself (the free beta that is) a few times in the past and I swear the CC included in it is currently one of my favorite. Without the complete pack I probably didn’t have a lot of additional options available in terms of clothes, makeup and hair, but what truly mesmerized me at the time was the shaping tool, not yet common in games when they released EVE. You can grab and drag different parts of the head and body, modeling unique characters every time.
Tumblr media
2. Black Desert Online
This game has been released recently with two different packages and it seems to be quite a popular MMORPG (Massive(ly) Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) in Russia and Korea. I’m not surprised considering the quality this game seems to have and its customization is clearly no less. Just like EVE Online, Black Desert offers a good sculpt instrument to shape faces and bodies as much as you like, plus a beautiful variety of colors and combinations.
UPDATE: The game is also available on Steam!
This patch lets you play Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks with mostly non-touch based controls. The new control bindings are Control Bindings: D-Pad=Run Y+Dpad=Walk B=Wide slash B+Dpad=Long slash Y+B=Spin Attack A=Interact A+Dpad=Roll. Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks D-Pad Patch This patch implements non-touchscreen controls for essential actions in Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. Legend of zelda spirit tracks xenophobia patched rom.
3. Blade&Soul
This is another Asian MMORPG with the classical ‘Anime’ style, you cannot freely reshape the character’s structure, only pick one of the available presets and play around with the sliders to modify the whole body. Andy mckinney molly hatchet. Still, I honestly like the bright colors, the races/classes and the fact that you can actually recreate other existing characters using additional content (just like this guy did with Cloud from Final Fantasy VII).
4. BLESS Online
Yes, another Asian online title. Hey, it’s not my fault if they look so pretty! Bless is quite recent and not yet released in its final stage, but judging by how the CC works you have as much freedom as in EVE or Black Desert and the same unmistakable Fantasy touch.
5. The Sims 4
Didn’t I mention The Sims 2? Well, looks like the latest title in the series has improved quite a lot in this area. The shaping/sculpting method is here as well, considering that we finally have more possibilities I certainly won’t complain!
Note: In this video I can see the woman has a few mods installed. If you decide to get this game (or even the previous chapters) I definitely suggest you to do the same if you don’t like the default character design.
6. Fallout 4
Another recent (and quite famous) game. Apparently you can only work on the face here, but once again we see the sculpt tool in action. Even if the hair options are a bit limited you can still customize your character and create unique features playing around with your cursor.
7. Dragon Age: Inquisition
Who knows me is well aware of the fact that I am completely OBSESSED with this game, thus I couldn’t really leave it out. The hair options are definitely questionable and just like in Fallout 4 you do not have any body morph nor slider to alter, but as you can see from this video example you are still able to personalize your Inquisitor in a good way, also using real people or other characters as reference. To be honest I like some of the default presets too, if you don’t like spending two hours working on a face (I do that all the time, but I am a basket case so please ignore my madness :P), you can pick those and get a good result nonetheless.
And don’t forget about mods! 😉
8. Skyrim (The Elder Scrolls V)
This one has been around for a very long time and it remains probably the top 1 Fantasy game out there. If you’re not into mods at all and want to keep your game vanilla be sure that the overall quality is not as improved as the current generation, you can see that from the low-res hair and general textures. The reason why I’m including this CC in the list anyway is because even if old, Skyrim looks quite good compared to other games where you only get 3/4 slider options.
9. APB Reloaded
The last game I’d like to mention (and I literally just discovered it) is this not so new title which has a kick-ass Character Creator. Not only it shows some quality graphics there, but the level of customization is unbelievable! You can make hair shorter, beards longer, create beautiful tattoos (and place or rotate them wherever you want!), add patterns to clothes and even get your personal car! 😀

There are of course many other games with a Character Creator, but they all seem pretty similar or not good enough to be mentioned in my list.
What do you think about these? Let me know with a comment if you like!
Those late-night multiplayer sessions can be really fun sometimes. Surely, everything is better with friends, they say and you’ll agree with that at some point. However, after a long day of work and studying, I like to relax with offline games. Sometimes, it’s satisfying to let yourself indulge in a great single-player story and forget about any problems bothering you. So, if you are like me, then welcome to the club! Below is my list of 20 best offline games for PC and I hope you’ll enjoy them.
1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
W2k16 pc download. Well, you’ve guessed it! The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt takes first place on the list with its epic setting, characters, gameplay, and those breathtaking visuals! It’s a compelling game that will offer you more than a hundred hours of non-filler gameplay, and there’s always something to explore. The game looks amazing, and the combat system is great. This open-world title is everything you need on your free days! Combine that with the great RPG elements and fun dialogues with NPCs, and you got yourself a pretty good offline game! Go and play it now, it’s a must-play.
2. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
Wolfenstein series has been once again revived with Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The positive reviews flashed all around the globe, and this game quickly became one of the best shooting games of 2017. B.J Blazkowicz is such a badass protagonist and the characters surrounding the game are interesting. You’ll quickly start to care about each and every one of them, making this game a worthy offline title. Bethesda said that they won’t be focusing on multiplayer, so they can bring an immersive single-player experience. Well, you nailed it, Bethesda; great job!
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Bethesda is one of my favorite companies when it comes to gaming, at least they were a few years back. A few years back, this masterpiece called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released and it took the Earth by storm! This offline open-world title offers hundreds of hours of exploration and you’ll probably never get bored of it! The combat system might be dated, but it’s damn fun to play and explore every corner of the game. After six years since its release, I’m still eager to give Skyrim another go. It’s that great!
4. Fallout 4
Games With Character Customization Pc
Fallout 4 is one of those top offline games that you either like or dislike. It’s a great single-player experience, as you explore a huge world of fictional city Commonwealth. I mean, the story here is scattered here and there, and our protagonist is in search of his abducted son. However, the game often steers away from that and let you have some freedom and exploration. It’s a fantastic reboot of the series, and it’s surely the best game in the franchise. If you are up for that Stalker-ish feeling, then give this a try!
5. Hitman (2016)
Hitman isn’t a strictly offline game, but I included it because it has a great single-player campaign. While the previous entry in the series Hitman: Absolution relied more on linear, claustrophobic, and confined experience, Hitman (2016) went in a different direction. Here, you’ll experience a vast, open-world with lots of stuff to do. The levels are not that numerous, but they are as big as hell! You can complete your missions in various ways and earn certain rewards and points for doing so. Hitman is a challenging stealth experience, but once Agent 47crawls under your skin, there’s no going back!
Steam Games With Character Creation
6. Nioh
Nioh is a less-known offline game released this year, and I feel like this game is very underrated. It’s a child of Dark Souls and Bloodborne series, which can tell you much about this game. It has a single, crushing, and unforgiving difficulty that will leave you begging for mercy. It’s hard, and you’ll need some blazing fast reflexes and huge gaming skills to finish it. There are more than twenty bosses in the game, and every single boss will kick your ass! Don’t expect to finish this game in a few days; you’ll need weeks to finish it and it will be painfully slow as the bosses shame you every little time… you helpless gamer!
7. Nier: Automata
Another underrated game – Nier: Automata. How could the gaming community overlook this game? Are you blind, or what? This game offers thirty hours of a pure, refined, and amazing experience! It’s a hack-and-slash title that mergers several genres with it. The open world in this game is huge, and the post-apocalyptic environment looks depressing and feels like a void. Nier also introduces RPG elements so you can now level yourself up, upgrade weapons, buy stuff, etc. On top of that, there are some 2D sections that feel like a great platformer, and that’ very unique! Nier: Automata is better than most AAA titles and costs double the less of that price, which is one more reason to get it.
8. Dark Souls 3
Dark Souls series got a fantastic reboot with Dark Souls 3. Just if it wasn’t enough for the previous games in the series, and now we got this punishing game. What can I say? Prepare to die a LOT in this game, as it’s created to kill you. I’m not joking, the whole game is against you, and you can’t do anything about that except fight like a lunatic. Even when you die, the enemies around you respawn and you must fight again and again, which is really frustrating. However, if you have the balls to play it, and manage to finish it, then you deserve a medal, Sir!
9. Bioshock Infinite
Bioshock Infinite is the newest installment in the Bioshock series. This cheap game can give you a huge value for your buck, especially when the Holidays come. I mean, for just a couple of bucks, you can get a fantastic FPS game, which campaign isn’t short and definitely isn’t boring! Bioshock Infinite continues its tradition with great shooting mechanics, various powerups, and that fast-paced shooting in a beautiful environment of the game. Get ready to cause mayhem!
10. Alien: Isolation
Alien: Isolation is that PC offline game that will haunt your dreams every time you try to sleep. It’s a horror game in which you try to stay in one piece and escape that damn space station called Sevastopol. Sounds similar? Well, that’s because the game is based on Alien (1979) movie, which was a very disturbing experience at the time. It’s an intense game that makes your palms sweat and your heart beating so fast that you’ll think it’s gonna come out of your chest! Try this horror if you dare, and watch yourself getting swallowed by the Alien, in a single bite!
11. Far Cry Primal
Elephants are cool, but mammoths are so badass! In Far Cry Primal, you can hunt mammoths and even ride them when you get to higher levels! How cool are you from zero to riding a mammoth? This beautiful-looking game is set 10,000 years BC and no, you aren’t going to shoot guns, but bash the hell out of your enemies. The arsenal of weapons might not be that huge, but the combat is great and requires more thinking, as the enemies are sometimes overwhelming and can easily kill you. If you have the luck to tame a sabertooth tiger, you may survive in this harsh world!
12. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
There is something special about that claustrophobic feeling, especially when it comes to horror games that you can play without internet. That sense of dread and despair when you don’t have much space to move is priceless. Don’t think of me as a psycho, but I LOVE the horror genre! RE7: Biohazard is a game that caught my attention as soon as it was released. This bad boy will provide you with a horrific experience that will leave you scared to death! As the game plays from the first-person perspective, it’s much easier to get yourself immersed, but also scared.
13. Outlast 2
Outlast 2 is yet another offline horror experience, where the developers decided to leave your powerless. There aren’t weapons for you to use, and surely no means to defend yourself. So, what are you left with? Well, a camera and a journal should do the trick! The game does a damn fine job of melding the horror and the dread with stealth and great storytelling. In the end, you may feel a little let down by the ending, but I know you’ll enjoy it until the very end.
14. Dead Space 3
Tumblr media
Cat et 2015a factory password generator. While the past games in the series focused more on that horror experience, Dead Space 3 is more of an action-horror game. Sure, there are Necromorphs and they are vicious and all, but the action part is more prominent. Needless to say that Dead Space 3 is an amazing game and I’m very sad that Visceral Games is closed by EA in October. This survival horror game is hugely underrated, but it’s awesome and I recommend you to play it. It’s just a couple of bucks for this experience, don’t be a niggard!
15. Portal 2
There’s something awesome when it comes to Source Engine. The games made with this engine looks amazing, yet they run smoothly. How did Valve manage to do that? Well, as I am not a game developer, don’t ask me! But ask me about Portal 2, which is Valve’s magnum opus, and a compelling puzzle game. The whole point of the game is to use a Portal gun in order to create portals and pass through them. However, the game isn’t that simple and requires some brain skill to finish it. Grab your Portal Gun, and let’s go on a venture!
16. Limbo
This 2D game is straight-up terrifying, dark, and misanthropic from the start to finish! In Limbo, you are a little boy that needs to survive this colorless world of the game as he overcomes various obstacles and escape scary monsters. I like the game’s artwork and the atmosphere is simply top-notch here if you like the dark ambient in the games. It’s a must-play for every offline Indie games lover!
17. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
Speaking of the atmosphere, very few great offline games can replicate the atmosphere as it is in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. That post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Pripyat looks great, and the game isn’t colorful, which is the whole point. Everything has that grey-ish tint, as this town suffered greatly when the Nuclear Powerplant in that area exploded. It’s based on a real-life event that occurred around 1989, which gives the game a certain weight and meaning.
18. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
With MGSV: The Phantom Pain, Hideo Kojima proved that he still has what it takes to create such immersive PC games without internet. This stealth game is challenging and full of stuff to do, due to its open-world nature. The characters are badass and the game feels somewhat dark, with a very serious tone. Oh, and not to forget that plot twist at the end that’s worth those thirty hours I’ve spent on this game!
19. SOMA
Horror fans will be pleased that I mentioned another horror title here. SOMA is an absolutely spooky and nerve-wracking experience! It creates that atmosphere that’s very unique, and with the story being told in the shape of various documents scattered through the game, it’s even more badass! You are all alone here and you’ll fight for your life, only to find out that you aren’t actually alive! A truly wonderful offline game for Windows.
20. Superhot
Superhot is a cartoonish-looking offline game that revolves around time. To make it simple, the time in the game moves when you move, so if you are standing still, nothing will happen. Vice Versa, if you are moving and shooting, then the enemies will do the same. It’s a lot of fun, but a lot of challenges too. I played it with some of my favorite death metal albums, just to ensure that I’m hardcore enough to beat it!
Tumblr media
As we are approaching near the end of our journey through the offline PC games, I’m here to ask you a question. What is your favorite offline game for PC? I tried my best to count some of my favorite offline games, and although I’m maybe going to start a war for not including some of the games, I stand behind my words. Oh, and why don’t you tell me what game did I miss? Do you have any favorites besides these 20 games? Please, let me know, and don’t forget to do some gaming today!

Thoughts on Fate/Extra: Last Encore - Part 2
Hi, I’m elizabethbathoryofficial. We’ve laughed a lot today here on tumblr.com, but there’s one topic that’s never funny: Fate/Extra Last Encore.
For those of you who know me, you know I care about the Fate/Extra series more than it’s healthy. And a couple of weeks ago I made a post talking about how confusing I found its anime “adaptation”, F/E:LE. On that post I got some responses that I haven’t had time to acknowledge, and I’ve also had more time to think since then, so here are my final thoughts on FELE, and then I’ll shut up about this topic.
Tumblr media
In the original post I was kerfuffled more than anything. My thesis for the post was mainly that since FELE was the Fate/Extra adaptation, it had to be treated as a replacement rather than an extension of the story, and that angered and confused me. But if what @derritter says it’s true, then it makes SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more sense. FELE is, at its core, a “What if the protagonist lost in Extra” story. It makes no sense whatsoever to release that as a standalone thing, but if it had been released simultaneously with the game’s remake, then count me in!! That definitely sounds like a plan to revive the series and introduce it to a new audience, as well as bringing back  fans of the original with brand new content.
This is all just a theory until proven otherwise, but I imagine at some point they decided that they weren’t happy with how the remake was going and decided to delay it, but because of contracts with Netflix and stuff, they had to release the anime within the timeframe anyway. And now we’re in this situation.
Tumblr media
@pk-smokey also has a perspective I hadn’t considered, and that I like a lot. When all is said and done, a proper Fate/Extra anime adaptation would inevitably cut stuff out. The story’s pretty long, so if it was confined to 12 episodes, either the introduction or battles themselves would be summarized a little too much, perhaps even rushed through. And I think that would do more irreparable damage to the franchise than an anime that does its own thing.
There’s still something that upsets me though, and it’s explained pretty well by @press-red-to-make-it-dead
Tumblr media
This. The fact that it accidentally made it all the more difficult for people to get into this series. And it’s a pretty fantastic series, but the game’s a psp-exclusive whose gameplay is extremely unfriendly, and the one thing that’s easier to get into, the anime, will make absolutely no sense unless you’ve already played Extra from start to finish. Not even, like, being aware of its setting and what it’s about, but to have finished it in its entirety. And that.... bums me out :( Fate/Extra is fun, and you don’t even need to be into the rest of the Fate series to enjoy it. It would serve as a fantastic introduction to the whole Fate universe if it was easier to get into, but...... sigh.
Alright, time for a conclusion, because I’ve talked more about this anime than any human ever should:
Fate/Extra: Last Encore is a good anime. It has good animation, good soundtrack, great character moments, exciting battles, and it’s even gorgeous at times. The OP slaps hard. But it was never meant to be the main representative of the Fate/Extra series, and I feel like it would’ve been infinitely better received if it had been released alongside the remake. I wish more people would watch it, because although it is flawed (I still don’t like the protagonist) it definitely still is a very entertaining and interesting addition to the Fate franchise. SHAFT’s animation style is suuuuuuuper different from ufotable’s, and I like seeing wadarco’s designs animated. Visually speaking, it stands out a lot.
I also feel like its existence will be much better received after the remake is out. If my friends end up playing Fate/Extra Record and they like it, I’ll definitely be like “hey, glad you liked it! That clown woman was super fucked up, wasn’t she? Hey, maybe check out Last Encore if you want, it’s a v fun “what if” scenario!” But until that happens, it will have to wait as this confusing, but very unique thing. I am really looking forward to the day of the remake’s release. I hope it can introduce more people to this spinoff series, the way FELE intended.
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read these posts and interacts with them, I’m sorry I take so long to reply sometimes ❤️
