⋆ maybe its just me, but i feel like a lot of what sieun listens to would depend on his mood or what hes doing in the moment !

⋆ when hes going about his daily life or needs a mood-lifter ? definitely gravitates to genres like soft pop + indie ! for studying ? hes probably got those lofi music streams pulled up in the background- always has the volume super low though, otherwise he finds it hard to focus :,)

⋆ still, whenever hes missing suho or feeling down, he tends to put on some of suhos favorite songs :(( in a way its healing for him; it reminds him of the good times they shared, and even if he cant exactly be around him now, he can still be connected with him through song~

⋆ since i think hes more of a genre person than an artist person, i dont think he rlly has any favorite singers/groups ! but i do think hed like stuff by IU, Heize and a lil bit of Clairo, and other similar artists~

⋆ definitely a pop enthusiast imo !! i feel like he would enjoy more upbeat stuff that gets him in a good mood, or that he can work out to lol- (also would love listening to stuff he can do impromptu karaoke or fall over dancing to when nobodys around lmaooo) hes a pretty energetic guy, so it only fits that hed enjoy energetic music as well !

⋆ would also love latin music, w a soft spot for the oldies (and reggaeton) :)) i see him having been raised on a lot of his mommas favorite artists from her teenage years and enjoying them together being a fond memory from his childhood~ but also i think he would enjoy a lot of older music in general, as its very nostalgic for him (and who doesnt love indulging in a bit of that ?)

⋆ i dont think he has a lot of favorite artists, nor is he a superfan of any, but some of them would be Crystal Kay, Selena, Kali Uchis, Red Velvet and 1st gen groups like S.E.S + Shinhwa ! but a lot of what he listens to is whatevers popular or playing on the radio (or even songs his sisters show him !) lol, so he isnt too picky :,)

⋆ listened to a lot of classic emo/screamo bands like Pierce the Veil, Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria, as well as Bursters ! probably found the mv for caraphernelia while scrolling through youtube one night and fell down a major rabbit hole, but it introduced him to a lot of bands that got him through middle school :D

⋆ though hes older now i dont think he would ever really grow out of that phase, so his tastes are still similar ! definitely listens to a lot of rock/metal subgenres (post-hardcore, nu-metal, alt-rock, etc-), but i also think hed really like hip-hop too ! doesnt listen to much outside of these genres tho :,)

⋆ imo, some of his favorite artists + bands would be ones like Seotaiji (including his stuff in Seo Taiji & Boys), Bursters, Dynamicduo, Sevendust, Girugamesh and a bit of Pierce the Veil !

⋆ being the music junkie that he is, gayools likes would be broad for sure !! considering the fact that music overall is such a big part of his life and his arc in wh, i cant see him being picky about what he listens to~

⋆ still, he would definitely have his preferences ! ive always headcanoned Slam as being an alt-rock/indie-rock band and so i think a lot of their style would be heavily influenced by all sorts of rock and metal subgenres (i have many opinions about this if anyone was interested in hearing lmao), so i think his own musical interests would be similar to that ! would enjoy anything from stoner metal to midwest emo to post-hardcore lol

⋆ but again, his overall taste would be pretty expansive, so he definitely has a little of everything (pop, r&b, jazz, etc. etc.) rolling around in his spotify likes :,)

⋆ ive mentioned it before in the bedroom post, but i wholeheartedly believe suho would be a major gg fan </3 probably has lightsticks and signed photocards and all the like from his favorite groups lmaooo- he esp gravitates towards a lot of the more fun and feel-good concepts a lot of ggs do, and has stayed up wayyy into the night learning the choreographies more than once :,)

⋆ outside of that though, i think hed be a big fan of dramatic pop ballads + acoustic, coffee shop type music :))) hes also a frequent enjoyer of having world tours in the shower, so songs of that genre are always his go to- but also, imo, he really appreciates the actual talent that goes into some of his favorite songs, and loves listening to ones with meaning or that he can relate to~

1. What is their morning routine? What are the first things they do when they wake up?

-Wake up around 5 am. (six if he feels like sleeping in). Do morning stretches/yoga immediately. Fix his appearance/ brush his hair and teeth. Go over notes and documents from the night prior to see if he views anything differently now. Breakfast (light) with black tea. This is his me time of the day. Then choose an outfit and get dressed. Have the messengers sent in to hear any news or concerns. By around 7 am he's ready to greet the day :)

2. What is their nighttime routine? What are the last things they do before they fall asleep?

-He usually goes to bed around midnight or so. He bathes, chooses an outfit for the next morning, maybe does a face mask or sets some candles. Goes over documents and letters. For a little while in bed he'll read, either work related things or something he finds interesting. He falls asleep fairly easily but is a light sleeper and suffers frequently from insomnia, so its not unoften he'll miss a day or two of sleep and just spend the night working instead.

6. If they were videogame characters, what loot would they drop when they died?

Man I cant imagine him being killable in a videogame hes DEF an unkillable npc 😭 since hes literally a god. maybe he gets sick of the player trying to kill him and pretends to die, dropping the following- a bottle of wine, a coupon for scented bath salts, a collection of golden rings, and a moderate amount of XP. You run into him later in the game and can ask him like “didnt I kill you?” and hes like “that sounds like a personal problem. But try it again and you wont be as lucky” and then any further attempt to attack him just ends with the game crashing.

Either something by ABBA or falloutboy hsfsdfh had his medieval fantasy equivalent to an emo phase in his youth and would know all the words to the black parade by heart so maybe that. Hed get hype af on the stage and start trying to crowd surf and shit when the guitar solo hits if he's gotten drunk enough.

A nice plate of assorted cheese, a bottle of champagne, some fine imported silks unavailable from anywhere local, a darling fancy rat with a tousled coat, an ocean scented body mist, an arcane tomb bursting with forbidden energies, and maybe a beginners set of dulled throwing knives bcs he wants to learn how to be sexy but keeps cutting himself up when he tries w real ones :/

18. What do they do to cheer themselves up?

Buys himself things, spends time with his rats and talks his problems through with them, buys his rats costumes and accessories, throws himself into his studies, or if he's really feeling it then makes himself a bubble bath and gets champagne drunk in it while reading other arcane scholars thesis papers and scribbling down scorching reviews while mocking them aloud to the rats or whoever is unfortunate enough to be nearby.

-Suds considers himself too old and too jaded to ever do something like go on a date or have romance again. Of course that doesn't stop the occasional dream or fantasy of it from which he wakes up thinking damn :/ that hurted. Ideally its a picnic with just the two of them, they go to a pond or a spring and have biscuits and honey suds made himself. They feed the local squirrels and maybe share a glass of rose wine… they go home late through the garden and suds shows them the different variety of plant life he grows. They maybe hold hands :) and then share a kiss at his door.

Wakes up a little late and packs half in a hurry. Water bottles check. Snacks and food check. Pee bottle and tampons? Check, in case someone needs it. He respects women like that. Books on tape check, but also custom made cds for the occasion. Headphones and sunglasses check. MOST importantly a blanket and neck pillow, check. On god he is gonna be snoozin. Sun chips and arizona iced tea are his go too snack so also check.

🌺Is there a piece you wish you had never made?

so like, regret is a hard thing to discuss for me because a lot of the things i regret in my artist career aren’t stuff that are funny bad art or whatever, because frankly i DON’T regret that stuff. i don’t regret my warrior cats days or drawing sparkledogs or whatever because i was a kid having fun and having bad old art is part of the process. a lot of the things i truly regret in my artist life are things that brought or bring up bad feelings, so this isn’t gonna be super FUN. sure, i have a ton of shitty pieces which i’m like GOD i wish i could make those better now and GOD i wish all my NITWTM pieces were like. good jdskjkskjsa

so like, the biggest and most obvious thing is the webcomic i ran from 2015-2020 because wow. first off. i was 12 when i started that, and nearly 18 when i ended it. a 12 year old kid really could not have predicted the absolute time commitment that shit required, and i REALLY shouldnt have tried to keep going even past my limits simply because i had already sank so much time into it. when you write something as a kid you dont really anticipate the fact that youre gonna grow as a writer and artist so much in a 5 year time span that what you write and connect with when youre 12 isn’t even gonna RESEMBLE the person you are when you’re 18. i wish i had canned it earlier and honestly it was a deep source of stress in my life for so long.

then there’s the old pieces i made with my friend group from like, 8th grade. first off like?? i gave my friend group fursonas back then for some reason and like?? didnt SHOW them to them i just?? drew them?? as cats?? which yeah ok thats dumb but then i drew like a piece with twenty one pilots lyrics on it and god all that shit brings me back such a shitty time in my life man and that friend group ended in such an awful way and i just regret all of it so much. 

as an extension of that just the emo dog shit was so dumb like honestly its the one phase of my art i just kind of hate in of itself like it was really dumb like yeah i was a kid enjoying myself but just GOD it was such bad character design and building and none of my ocs had personality and they were so overly complex and its just like i think that phase actively hindered my ability to progress at making good ocs. also just. the edgy song lyric da titles man its just. like i know i go on about my warrior cats phase but honestly i have so much nostalgia from that time because i was just a kid having fun with cat books but the emo dog phase was just regret all around and it actively kinda hurt me as an artist

but yeah like. as bad as some of my old pieces are i don’t REGRET doing them. it’s all part of growth as an artist and its fun to look back on that stuff and see how youve improved. all the stuff that DOES cause regret is that shit with negative feelings attatched

gonna rant about sanders sides plot bc i think about it all the time and need an outlet okay here we go. this got super long so most of it is under the cut.

fyi: i talk a lot about patton and virgil and how theyre doing. i dont think i paint either of them negatively and if i did its not on purpose bc i love them both but just be aware!! also this is just my interpretations/predictions and i wanted to share but its not The Only Acceptable Interpretation and if u disagree then obviously thats fine lol

so i keep thinking about the conflict between virgil and patton. clearly something is weird. i think it probably started when virgil asked patton to stop treating him like “some innocent harmless angel” at the end of LNTAO.

i actually think this was a good interaction—virgil was trying not to hurt patton’s feelings but also was expressing something he was uncomfortable with and he succeeded in my opinion. and patton doesn’t argue, just immediately goes “okay, virgil!” like he says his name, no nickname, no kiddo. he starts trying instantly to check himself and respect virgil’s wishes.

then in embarrassing phases their interactions seem a little more...tense? i’ll list the ones that stick out bc lists are Fun:

patton fakes being scared. virgil: “don’t patronize me” patton: “you mean pantronize” virgil: “whatever!!”

patton corrects himself from saying “bat winged cherub” to “bad....boy” while virgil shoots him a look like we just talked about this

virgil’s talking about how his style is a relic from thomas’ emo phase. patton: “we’re basically style twins!! look out just a couple of cool guys comin thru!” virgil: “okay, patton” patton: “um! sorry...”

virgil seems aggravated, probably bc patton is still treating him like a poor lil anxious baby when the whole point of this episode was virgil showing that they can’t just ignore his role as anxiety. they may be friends now but virgil’s past attitude is still part of him. one could say he doesnt want them to ignore the “dark side” of his presence. wink wink. this could be him maybe building up to revealing that he used to be a dark side, subtly preparing thomas for it.

then SvS. patton and virgil don’t interact directly except at the start and during the trial, but it doesn’t seem as strained. this is probably because theyre both on the same side when it comes to deceit—and i think thats important. in svs, both patton and virgil are anti-deceit, and like patton pointed out in LNTAO, “anxiety and morality are telling you the same thing,” which seems to signal to thomas that he should listen.

also in SvS, janus alludes to the fact that virgil was a dark side and is hiding it:

“so you’ve never been reluctant to share anything with the group?”

“dont.”

“what, i just meant your name!”

“dont.”

“maybe that’s why its so easy for you to see me for what i am! like i said before, it takes a liar to know a liar.”

i’m 90% sure he didn’t just mean virgil’s name. virgil is clearly distraught about where this conversation is headed and that just doesn’t line up with him being hesitant to share his name. his fears over his dark persona and reluctance to share his name have been addressed multiple times, so what does he have to be scared of? unless janus is talking about virgil being a dark side.

moving on! in DWIT, again, theyre both kinda anti-remus. theyre both afraid of him, and as logan points out, theyre both part of why remus is so powerful as intrusive thoughts. they dont argue much; virgil spends most of this ep arguing with logan, actually, which is interesting bc he and logan seem to have one of the closest friendships in the show.

in this episode, there’s a few final pushed that i think lead virgil to confess he was a dark side.

first remus reveals his own name and says “i would never hide anything from you!” and sends virgil a little glance. virgil looks uncomfortable. then, around the 31 minute mark, logan says “you can always talk to someone...subjects who talked about their thoughts often felt better emotionally and physically.” and you can see virgil looking around like he’s realizing something.

and then he reveals himself at the end of this episode. just to thomas, but i’m assuming all the other sides would know as soon as thomas himself does, right? if they didn’t know already. what sticks out to me is that he specifically waits until the others leave. he doesn’t want to say it directly to them. and as for how this connects to the patton-virgil stuff...patton might think virgil doesn’t trust him/doesn’t want to open up to him. and/or virgil actually doesn’t want to open up to patton as much anymore.

then in healthy distractions, we clearly see that something is up between virgil and patton.

patton: “how could he feel b-a-d with his inner d-a-d?” virgil: “i can think of a few ways”

patton: “thomas made his decision and i think we should all just try to settle into it” virgil: “how are you telling me to settle into something right now when you have taken your sweet time to settle into things that you were uncomfortable with in the past”

so honestly i don’t really know what virgil’s talking about?? does he mean the events of moving on and the whole breakup situation?? or maybe he’s calling patton out for taking so long to drop the “angel baby” nicknames/treatment. or its implying that patton didnt know virgil was a dark side and is still coming to terms with it/coming to terms with the fact that virgil didn’t want to tell him & the other sides directly.

or he’s referencing something we don’t know of. either way, their relationship is obviously strained rn and it isn’t entirely clear what the turning point was between DWIT and ATHD.

then we come to the new episode. virgil doesn’t appear in POF at all, not even a cameo. i think thats the first time this has happened since accepting anxiety part 1. the only reference to him is the purple time-clock during the mario sequence and other smaller inclusions in the other video game parts. and then what happens in this episode?

patton realizes selfishness can be good sometimes. he accepts that the world, and thomas’ view of it, are not as black-and-white as he wanted to believe in svs. it wasnt a matter of “callback = bad vs wedding = good” bc thats not how the world works. beyond that, he accepts janus.

and i’m gonna bring up the idea that virgil is super mean and gets away with it. its true that the other sides, especially patton, are hesitant to correct him or reprimand him, which i think is bc theyre afraid of making him think they hate him. this idea could even be in the forefront of their minds if they really are that impacted by virgil not telling them he’s a dark side.

the thing is...virgil IS mean sometimes and he DOES get away with it. often, its just directed at janus or remus, and the other sides don’t WANT to disagree. when its directed at the other sides, i’m not sure its taken entirely to heart, regardless of whether it should be or not.

and we all know how virgil feels about janus. suspicion, anger, and aggression are all things virgil expresses towards janus from the moment he appeared as patton in CLBG.

so this all has been building up to me saying that the virgil-patton conflict has now become a virgil-patton-janus conflict. virgil and janus’ past is going to clash with patton and janus’ new alliance, which will strain the already tense relationship between virgil and patton. even worse, now roman is firmly in the anti-janus field, which will likely feed virgil’s anger, especially if he also blames patton for hurting roman.

and if we DO go to roman’s room next, and janus shows up, and the situation worsens...we might have a full blown “patton & janus vs virgil & roman” level argument on our hands.

i think virgil’s gonna be aggressive towards janus, as he has been, but when thomas and patton don’t dismiss him—when they call him by his NAME, not just “deceit”—we’re gonna get a rehash of “are you seriously siding with deceit?” except this time roman won’t be the one saying “are you seriously so closed minded to think that everything said by someone you dont like is automatically untrue?”

the other sides—or patton and thomas at the very least—are going to see that virgil’s blatant dislike of janus is not entirely warranted. and keep in mind that we still don’t know what happened between virgil and janus to make virgil hate him, so maybe it IS warranted. but its clear now that janus is trying to help (assuming he’s not lying which i rly hope he’s not lol) and i dont think its fair to thomas for virgil to want to disregard everything janus says. thomas and patton will realize this and they’ll have to confront virgil about his treatment of janus. we just haven’t gotten there yet.

its gonna be wild, honestly. i want janus to be fully accepted but it might be a while until we get there, just like patton took a while to understand the whole “grayscale morality” idea, and how its probably gonna take a while for virgil (and janus, tbh) to move on from whatever happened between them in the past.

i also believe this is headed towards a sympathetic everyone ending where theyre all important to thomas, acknowledged by him as important, and all actively working together, no dark sides or light sides, just sides. so yeah

basically, the next few episodes will probably be an explosion of all these char tensions and its probably gonna get worse before it gets better, and thats not even considering logan angst, creativitwins angst, or the orange side. but i think (and hope) it’ll all be fine and im hyped to see where this series goes :p

oKAY heres the details on that depressing Devildice human highschool au i made with a friend back around 2017/2018. Kinda a mess so bare with me. long post with themes of abuse, depression, and other nasty stuff.

- Lucifer Angelo grew up in a pretty bad place in Texas. The details werent fleshed out other than that it was a pretty ignorant place.

- The important fact of the matter is that his dad (who we never did settle on a name for lol) was a Christian preacher. Charismatic man, but an absolute shithead to Lucifer. Even with his other kids he was strict and pushed his ideals and plans onto them. Also had a temper and a loud voice.

- Preacher Angelo was once a pretty alright man, although very self-centered and was pretty condensing. He had a marriage early on in his life and had a few kids, named after archangels. Marriage fell through, and he starts drinking and moves on the next one a bit after. Have a couple more sons named after archangels. It also falls apart. On number 3? he has the final sons to complete his arch angel themed kids. At first it was just in honor/inspired by the angels and his Christian lifestyle, tho i think around the second marriage is where he just started getting delusional and started thinking himself as godlike and thought his sons will spread his word and whatever. Needlessly to say, his partners once they found this out went :/ and it went downhill from there.

- Man we really just took every flaw and worse thing to have in a parent and shoved it into this bastard lmao

- Lucifer was actually the product of an affair within his final marriage. Ofc cheating was a dealbreaker and they divorced. The girl he was cheating with stuck around a little bit, but died in childbirth due to complications. Thus he was left with this child that wAs BoRn FrOm SiN so he named him Lucifer. He would be his son of sin while his other sons would be Perfect People. (Even though they and their mothers started to want nothing to do with him lmao)

- He got by and took care of Lucifer decently but because this was an AU of Angst(TM) Preacher Dickhead became an alcoholic, had money troubles over time because economy troubles or whatever, and took out his temper on his son more and more. Luci was taken to church every Sunday by his dad.

- Kingsley Dyce was born in Lousiana to his parents Patrick and Fahri. We had a whole separate story for Fahri’s family and how they met, it was cute but that’s completely irrelevant right now. They lived modestly and were technically stable but there wasn’t always extra money for fun stuff and there were times were they were just getting by, but they never let Kingsley onto it.

- Kingsley (nicknamed King or KD by his friends) was a pretty cool kid. Had fun in Louisiana despite being a bit flamboyant and full of himself, made good friends. His relationship with his parents were fairly okay. He was a total mama’s boy, loves his mother to death and would do anything for her. As he became a teen his relationship with his father got a bit more strained because Patrick was a very Traditional person and into his teenage hood Kingsley had a habit of dancing not-so-masculine or modestly. He also was getting into makeup.

- Stepping back tho, as a kid he was in the church choir. His family is Catholic and his parents took him to church every Sunday. His favorite activity was to rollerskate. He and his friends were always skating to each other’s houses or skating at the rink. Skating, video games, and singing was his life.

- During his 6/7th grade his family moved to Maryland because of a job opportunity. King was suuuupper bummed. Maryland isn’t like Louisiana at all so there was an adjustment curve. Despite that, he didn’t have a hard time make friends. (insert humanized casino crew here)

- Side note: KD had a tooth gap as a kid and got braces during middle school to correct it. It gave him a lisp. He also had glasses and a questionable sense of fashion throughout middle school. This isn’t super relevant but its important to me that you can imagine this kid as the doofus he was. He also was roughly at an average height.

- In 8th grade there was a new kid that came into his class; Lucifer. Luci’s dad had also moved to Maryland for a job. Despite his entire class wondering what the hell was this southern emo kid’s problem, he wasn’t overtly bullied, just ignored. KD however, was intrigued by this asshole and made it his goal to figure out his issue and be all up in his business.

- Luci is currently dealing with some of his hardest years here. In Texas he had a hard time making friends, was bullied, and wasnt surrounded by the best sort of people. His abuse was getting worse as his father struggled more and more, and the move wasn’t the greatest fix considering he was still drinking and getting himself into debt. Luci didn’t care about school nor about life in general.  But then this asshole waltz into his life and boy golly was he feeling things about it.

- The relationship at first just KD latching onto Luci and talking to him about any and everything and trying to drag him around town. Slowly, Lucifer began to be amused by this jerk and his friends. He also didn’t live too far away so KD was able to easily bike to his place even though he never wanted KD over.

- KD picked up on the abuse Luci was going through, and honestly didn’t know to confront it. At first it was just sharing food cuz Luci wouldn’t eat and chatting to him because he got uncomfortable seeing Luci alone with head down all the time. Eventually he talked to his mom about it and the two of them kept inviting Luci over. Fahri became the mom Luci never had and Patrick despite working long hours and extra shifts, would take time to give Luci practical lessons and be a better masculine figure in his life. Luci was slowly being given a family but he also was pulling away from it. He was in the midst of a depression and he was pretty mean to everyone to deal with it, and pulled to himself more as he began to love KD and his family. The new friendships doesn’t cure depression, nor was it helpful against abuse.

- His abuse was verbal and physical. He got yelled at for being a failure, yelled at because he didnt care about school, drunk his fathers booze, got into trouble and lashed out. He got beat for back talking and whenever the drunk asshole wanted to fight with him. It had been going on for years. He was also neglected pretty bad. Food wasn’t super plentiful in the house, he lived on fast food and luci didnt know how to cook. There was more booze in fridge than food. Power/water would sometimes not be on if his father forgot about certain bills. It was bad.

- Some time during this 8th grade year he also developed a crush on KD, he didnt voice it because his dad was homophobic as shit but also because he certainly didnt know how to navigate love and didnt want to ruin his relationship with KD. So he repressed it.

- Also during this 8th grade year Luci tried to commit suicide. He had texted KD before hand too, with some note that boiled down to he cared a lot about KD but couldnt stand anything in the world/his dad/bringing KD down/whatever and it was obviously a suicide note. KD freaked out and immediately got his ass over there, kicked down the door, and found Luci in his dad’s room with his dad’s gun to his head. I don’t think we ever settled on the details of the situation but it was traumatizing for both individuals to say the least.  KD was able to talk him out of it.

- That incident made them inseparable. Luci never had someone care for him like that, cry for him like that. KD had grown attached and close enough to consider him his best friends, the incident only solidify his want to make his best friend’s life better. It was a rough few months after that and KD was sworn to never tell his parents what happened.

- TBH that was about the worse of it, this was an high school AU and high school became a bit better for them in certain regards. KD got his braces off, got contacts, and had one helluva growth spurt going into HS. Luci went deep into a punk-emo phase his freshman year which killed his fashion, but was slowly becoming a bit more confident in himself. KD and his parents were able to help him a lot. Emotional support, practical life lessons, and food was always a given.

- Its a bit of an up and down throughout high school. KD gets into makeup, heels, dancing, and bisexuality and it causes a major strife with him and his dad who wanted a “real” son. The relationship went through major struggles and would take a couple years to really heal.

- Luci struggles a bit with drinking and deals drugs and booze to get his own spending money. He starts somewhat taking his school seriously, but even though he does work in class he doesnt always do homework or projects and whatnot. He has a habit of physically intimidating other students and occasionally tries to pick fights.

- The “casino gang” also have their own things going on. If a recall correctly, Wheezy was also in a neglectful house, Pip and Dot ( ??? and Dorothy) were twins from a wealthy well off family but were ignored and were terribly bratty, Piroeutta was just an quiet Russian outcast, Mango had 7 siblings and no space to himself and who was bullied for his large off-putting appearance, Chips was just loud, and i completely forgot what everyone else’s deal was. KD and Luci mainly hung out with Chips, Piro, Pip, and Dot. They were still pretty close to the others but those four were the only ones they regularly hung out with at lunch and outside of school.

- There are a couple things that could happen throughout high school. My personal fav i can remember is a particular angst with KD trying to get with another dude and Luci being Upset and lashing out at him at a party result and ugh that scenario was angsty but also turned very cute???

- Regardless, when they do get together they’re unstoppable tbh.

- and yes, the gang would readily throw hands with anyone who said shit. Barely any of them care about suspensions.

- I kinda forget a bit of stuff. I know misc. scenarios here and there both fluffy and angsty, but this post is already long enough lmao so feel free to hit up my ask box with any questions/comments. I dont really think Ill come back to this au?? If i do Im gonna edit a ton of stuff because looking back certain themes and scenarios seem borderline insensitive and/or poorly thought out. literally how the fuck did i have an emo phase in 2013-2015 and not listen to mcr. how did that happen. i was friends with mcr fans. i liked wttbp when i was a little kid and it was on the radio. i was vaguely aware of their existence and the breakup memes because it was the internet and this is mcr we’re talking about.

like i remember being at my friend’s house and he had a drawing of the killjoy logos taped to his wall n i just stared at it and thought. what the fuck is fun ghoul. i assumed it had something to do with homestarrunner or gorillaz because he liked those things. i didnt even ask i just ignored it lmao.

backstory

virginia born and raised babey ! she’s the youngest of five siblings and ...it shows. SJDBJWBDJW growing up would have been pretty chaotic had it not been for the fact that her dad was a pretty well-respected police officer in their town ! him & her mom were high school sweethearts which made no damn sense to emiko considering they’re still happily married...the concept just seems fake to her </3

while her parents had a lot of  mushy love for each other, when it came to their kids they opted to take a more emotionally distanced kind of parenting style bc they didnt wanna like spoil their kids or anything but.....it wasnt exactly the best plan ! emi and all her siblings just learned to be very good liars JDSBWBDJW as kids with strict parents do

being the youngest emi took a while to get into her rebellious phase. for a while she’d just watch her older siblings sneak out and party and do walks of shame and all that jazz...and while she was always down to help them get out of trouble none of them ever really trusted her ? since she was the baby they figured she’d be the most likely to snitch which just made her really ///: bc she wanted to be included so bad

flash forward to senior year of high school and finally emi’s like . okay fuck this it’s MY turn ! her dad had recently decided to get into politics with some encouragement from the police chief so he was busy with his career and her mom was busy helping him. it was the perfect time to do what she wanted since it was less likely she’d get caught

so she goes to this graduation party.....and it’s BAD like she gets fucked up & carried away so she calls her oldest sister ( who had come back into town for emi’s graduation ) to come pick her up & on the way to get emi from this house party, her sister ends up getting into an accident 

she didn’t die though JSBJDSBBWJDBWJDBJWDW just broke some stuff and ended up needing surgery ): and emi obviously got busted that night by her parents which ... wasnt pretty at all especially bc they low key blamed her for her sister’s accident which just made emi feel like pure shit babey ! 

visiting her sister in the hospital is what kinda sparked her fear of hospitals ! bc emi was like super guilty and paranoid that maybe her sister was gonna die or her surgery would go wrong and she’d essentially be at fault...it was just a lot of anxiety that turned into a genuine phobia of hospitals after that

but her sister made it she was okay and her dad used all the buzz and tragedy around his family to kinda boost his political career....which was ugly. her sister had been prescribed some pretty heavy pain killers for the pain & thats where things got.....messy

emi isnt sure when exactly it started but between the guilt she was harboring over her sister’s accident, the stress from her parents as her dad got further and further into virginia politics as well as college anxiety since she was about to start at the universoty of virginia.....she stole some oxy and thats what started what would be a very messy and tumultuous addiction  

as soon as she started college, emi felt as if some of the weight had been lifted. she was living away from her family for the first time and dorming so she promised herself she’d take these four years to grow and figure out who she is......except that didnt exactly happen. instead of exploring herself in a healthy way, emi was using drugs as a sort of escapism from her “old” self. she’s extremely smart and she loves her major, but her professors would often comment her papers had the energy of a “rambling and troubled mind”. by the time she was about to finish her sophomore year she was getting so high people would find her literally passed out in the dining hall. but no one was that worried bc for a good two years, she was a pretty high functioning addict. 

cue the summer after sophomore year when emi overdoses at a party. she woke up in a private hospital room with only her father sitting on the couch, the look on his face something she’ll never forget. while him and her mother knew exactly what happened to emi, they hadn’t told any of her siblings. or anyone at all, for that matter. instead her dad had informed the university emi would be taking a year off to privately study abroad and told emi that’s what she was going to tell people bc he’d just decided to run for mayor ! he essentially guilt-tripped her into thinking telling people the truth would be a selfish act, and one that would basically ruin the family reputation and make everyone really miserable JSDWDBWBDJW he also tells her she’s gonna be shipped off to rehab ! 

so she goes to rehab for a good seven months. everyone at school thinks she’s studying abroad in italy, and emi is literally just counting the days til she can go back home to her dorm bc she’s lonely !!! in rehab !!! and she gets that she should take it seriously but shes just so mad at her dad and herself and the world too ig ... just some good old fashioned angst ! but she finishes rehab and her dad got elected as mayor of her hometown in virginia and shes like good for u can i go back to school please JSBDWJDBJW and he says yes

so she’s back ! ready for the universe to give her a break.....ahaha.....

personality + tidbits

so emi......my baby......she’s a strange one. she’s that bitch that’s super nerdy but in the weirdest way like the stuff she’s into is so specific and just....generally stuff literally no one else would care about but to emi it’s like holy shit this is the coolest thing in the world JSBDJWBDJWBJD she knows a little about a lot so she has the tendency to come across as pretentious if you don’t know her outside of class when in reality she’s just read one too many random facts. also weird in the sense that she’s a STRONG believer in the paranormal and in aliens and in witchcraft and stuff like that as well as believing in things that seem “logical”. it can be confusing to people who view that stuff as silly that someone so smart would be into it. 

speaking of smart.....she’s a polygot which basically means she can speak a bunch of languages ! she’s self-taught, and since she’s a classics major some of her favorites to study include greek and latin ( dead language who ? ). she’s pretty chill about it though and if you wanted to learn she’d be the type that’s 100% down to teach you. she always learns the curse words first just you know....for the fun of it ! she probably has very specific “pet names” for everyone in the friend group in random languages 

anyway she’s also stupid. ASDJWBDWBJDBWJDWJD i mean like in the way that she makes the most .... impulsive decisions that usually have negative consequences. she’s the type to convince herself she knows exactly what she’s then come up with the worst plan you have ever heard in your life. an example of a dumb decision emi has made ? your girl ate a pot brownie the day after she got back in her dorm after rehab bc she convinced herself it was a good way to de-stress. some other dumb decisions include various drunk tattoos ( which thankfully haven’t been too bad save for the words eat me tattooed in small font on her ass ). also owns a stick & poke gun so she’s for sure tried to tattoo friends while intoxicated despite.....not being a tattoo artist ... she’s not even an art student .... SJBDJWBDJW....but she’s very very good at convincing people to join in on her dumb antics so be weary

big on photography !!! she loves taking pictures. always that one friend who reminds you to document the moment and you get annoyed but then when you want to post a picture on insta you’re thankful she was there <3 she has the energy of like .... the dad friend when you need support JSDBWBDJWBDJW she tries to be caring but it just turns into like ... emi high off her ass putting her hand on your shoulder and being like “you know fuck it man you’re amazing” not that good at the emotional stuff like she really wants to be but she legit doesn’t know how.......kinda accidentally turned into an emo kid bc she channels her feelings though some kick ass playlists and the notes app in her iphone instead of talking to people JSBDJWBJDBWJDBJ 

she’s high key struggling but she’s the type to be like no its fine this is fine life is a ride babey better hold on ! tries to keep things flirty and fresh 99% of the time but then you’ll witness the rare emi breakdown which.....involves a whole lot of tweets that will all be deleted within 24 hours and emi will in fact deny they ever existed

really a laid-back girl but the chaotic energy is there folks......she can also very easily get into her youngest child complex if she’s upset which just involves emi being a pain in the ass and everyone having to deal with it JSBDWBDJWBDJWBDJW  she likes to make it hard to say no to her.....not exactly manipulative but sometimes she can get close /: not listed in her fears but she is in fact scared of genuine love and affection ! it’s like she craves it so much she’s terrified abt what will happen if she ever gets it.......so she makes sure she’s never in danger of that by never getting into anything serious.....but then at night shes like damn . kinda want a freak to hold my hand rn and tell me they love me ... People dont really seem to understand the meaning behind teens going through emo phases.

Emo phases are easily one of the most common phases to go through, and the fact that it almost always happens starting in early teen years through freshman year of high school is no coincidence. When you reach the age of 11 to 13, you start going through puberty, and with that, you gain new feelings and emotions that are more amplified than they were, say, two years ago. This especially includes negative emotions and feelings of being unheard or overlooked.

If you have a pretty much "normal" childhood, you didnt feel much unexplained negativity. Sure, when someone upset you, you cried, but there was a reason behind those bad emotions. You could explain why you were sad. When you begin puberty, you lose some of those explanations.

I remember when I was about 12 there were times I just generally felt sad and down. I had no reason to feel that way, so I was confused, and it didnt sit right with me. This happens to nearly all young teens, it's part of growing up and maturing. Because you feel down and sad for seemingly no valid reason, you feel something might be wrong with you and you just got unlucky and your life sucks.

Young teens resort to dark clothing and "deep" or "emotional" music they feel they can relate to because it makes them FEEL better about these negative emotions that came out of seemingly nowhere. It makes them feel listened to and less alone in these thoughts and emotions. This is perhaps the MOST NATURAL WAY of coping and maturing when you feel these emotions you arent used to. That's why so many go through this type of phase.

I got out of my emo phase years ago, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I went through one because I know it was a natural coping mechanism that helped me deal with these negative thoughts and feelings for the first time.

I hate when people insist on making fun of kids/teens who are "emo". Yes, they can be cringy, yes, you may feel they are embarrassing themselves, but that doesnt give anyone a right to bully them or make fun of them. All you're doing when you do that is making them feel like they are not allowed to cope with negative emotions in a way they feel comfortable with because some people think its "cringy".

We SHOULD be encouraging young teens and kids to express their emotions like this because in comparison, it's a very natural and healthy way to cope. It's better than them resorting to s*lf h*rm or other destructive behaviors. Bullying people for this only sends them deeper into their hole of negative feelings and they are more likely to develop things like depression or anxiety, or never come out of this phase and learn that not all emotions have a reason behind them.

Not only that, but making fun of it will make others who already went through such a phase feel ashamed of their past and the way that they dealt with those newfound feelings when they were younger, when all they were doing was coping. This restricts people when they are trying to find ways to healthily cope with feelings that they just cant explain. The stereotype is so damaging to young minds who probably just started getting online too. And with that, to see all these people making fun of their choices and the way they are choosing to live their life, it makes them feel like shit.

TL;DR: let kids and teens express themselves in the way they want to cause self expression is a healthy coping mechanism.

Pride Month; Experiences of a Gay Man

Story One - Coming Out: 

I thought I could trust my brother, but It turned out not a good idea. I believe around the time when I was 15 years old? I tried to come out to my brother as bi. The whole terrible gateway to homosexuality conversation from a gay person to a straight person thing. And this was in a car on my way home from school. My brother progressively got more aggressive and offended by the fact I was bi. Drawing attention to the fact “YOU LIKE IT IN THE ASS?” all enraged. I had to lie to him via text saying that I made it up and practicing my acting for a school play. He bought it. When I entered high school, I came out to my friend who I thought I trusted. She ended up blabbing to a friend. I forgave her for it because It really forced me into being who I am and confident. Though later this girl developed a taste for drama and attention. She is a very nice person now. I later came out to my parents, where my dad took it fine. And my mom was a little worried as if it was a phase. 

A friend tried to come out as bi, and I got super offended because I thought he was like.. making fun of me as if it was some kind of fad. This group was really into emo/scene kids. He later fell out of the group and found a closer relationship to drugs. I only found out because he one day asked for cash to buy some from the school's drug dealer. I hope he is doing well. I realized maybe if I had not felt like that.. he may have been my first boyfriend. I did have my first legit boyfriend till i was about 20. Was a big shame because I was pretty love-struck and lonely all through high school.

Story Two - Harrased: Back in high school, a guy harassed me for being depressed and gay (I was on adderal and concerta, and its side effect can cause depression and anxiety. It made me severely depressed/anxious/nauseated. Family environment didnt make it any better). He would message me online calling me a faggot and trying to coerce me to kill myself. And because he went to my school, I felt very unsafe, stalked, and had to ninja around campus in hopes to not be near him. In fact we had mutual friends, whom Im unsure if they really intervened. Ya'know that whole socially irresponsible thing "oh hes nice to me" but yea hes trying to convince your depressed gay friend to kill himself. I later found out that he got caught trying to rape someone. Was a mutual friend's friend's girlfriend??? I never thought to tell my parents/adults at the time. I think I was 16. I think one friend at the time actually really stuck their neck out for me to help me feel safer. Story Three - An encounter. As mentioned before, I was pretty lovestruck in high school. When I was 18, I had been talking to these two dudes from adam4adam. We’d skype often. What happened was it was really one dude, pretending to be two. He would use software to intercept his webcam (when I asked for proof). He played it off as if they were roommates and I was a complete idiot because he played me pretty well. I didnt figure it out until I noticed some inconsistencies in chatting, webcams, as well he accidentally shared the wrong feed through the webcam showing himself.  Before I found out he was a creep. I had planned to meet one roommate, which didn't follow through so I met the other. It didnt really occure to me that this kind of situation should of been a red flag. That the one dude I wanted to meet just couldn't come. Ill add Im really into tall dark haired guys. And this dude I wanted to meet was that. But I met this other dude, and when he got to this park where I lived. He got really aggressive and started forcing me to kiss him. It was my first kiss, and his breath smelt like milk. I said “No, this isnt a good idea” and he's just told me it was fine. ANd after a bit I kind of just gave in as he held me really tight. I am kind very uncertain if I could call this sexual assault or rape. But I know from a technical standpoint, not giving consent, in the beginning, it could be called that.  Story Four - The First I never really thought Id be so averse to Public display of affection. Nothing more than any straight couple would. And its not like I dont like it. Its just the very clear negative attention I noticed. My first boyfriend, I dated a pretty “confident” theater major. We sat in a park at a club event... just on a bench in relationship distance. I believe he was just laying his head on my shoulder.. and I noticed this older dude doing a double take around the corner. It was the first time I experienced bad vibes in this kind, and it occurred to me what potential danger could look like as a gay couple. And I know the double take was at us for different reasons. One body language, the dude was facing towards us, Two, Eye contact, he was literally looking at us, three, environment, the path was straight, where the left side was lined with bushes. I dont believe he could be looking at anything else. This just painted a picture and gave me confidence in the experience.

Oh hey, long time no replies. And these are the first ones of this year. I have a hard time replying now. It’s not like I don’t have time - I’m doing okay, actually. I mean, I wouldn’t complain if there was less homework, but still. Free time exists. It’s just that I can’t bring myself to replying to either comments or messages...I replied to asks quite quickly though, which is something unusual for me. Usually that’s where I’m slowest. I don’t know, is this another weird anxiety thing? Like I know I can reply, but I just...don’t?

I wish I could say I defeated it irl as well...things got better (mainly because I just had to get used to it and grow a thicker skin) but I’m still an anxious trainwreck 99 % of the time :D It’s the same online. 

Also, instead of actually starting a conversation with people, I’m always like “oh you know, if you feel like talking to me, just send me a message, I don’t bite” but the problem is I know there’s a lot of us like that here and I’m not the only one with this fear of communication so maybe I should be the one to find the courage once

Yeah, I love it! I mean, I don’t actually love it, there were some bad things happening, no freedom of speech and such, but for me, it’s an interesting era to learn about. I also think it’s important to know about these times because in a way, they’re still so similar to where we are now, we really should look back at them and try to not make the same mistakes...sadly, when I look at the situation in my country...sometimes it feels like people forget. Not just people like me who didn’t experience it and have only learned about it in History classes...feels like even people who have been there forget and it’s sad and frustrating and I wish I could do something about it. Okay rant over.

Being super rigid about the littlest things certainly does not make my life easier. But it does guarantee Im always looking out for myself.

My default preference is to do what feels right in my gut, but of course, my gut isnt always right about everything.

Still, I like that Im a woman who knows exactly she wants, and Id never want to be any other way.

Dont get me wrong, ALL BOOBS ARE BEAUTIFUL BOOBS. But, if Im being totally honest, my mom had, and still has, an impressive set of tatas on her, and she happened to pass those down to me.

Its not the best when it comes to shopping for a swimsuit that can actually cover everything up, but if anything, my large cleavage definitely comes in handy for catching crumbs whenever I eat a Nature Valley granola bar.

3. My organization skills

My mom was a secretary for a huge chunk of her career, and honestly, the woman was born for the role.

Ive never met someone who can keep a more orderly calendar, nor have I encountered anyone who owns (and actually USES) quite as many manila folders.

While my type of organization is more like a mess that only I know how to properly navigate, my life would probably be in shambles without my moms expert guidance.

4. My resilience

My mom has *clap* been *clap* through *clap* some *clap* SHIT.

As a child, she came from a broken and dysfunctional home, and yet shes still managed to create a life for herself.

Then, as an adult, she was hit with an aggressive form of breast cancer. I watched her shave her head and prevail through countless sessions of chemotherapy.

I havent battled nearly as much adversity in my own life, but my mom has shown me the importance of maintaining strength and willpower through even the most difficult times.

Because of her, Ive been able to tough it out through my own hardships, and Ill continue to channel her strength for years and years to come.

5. My taste in music

Mom, if it werent for you, I never would have gone through my very annoying, but very necessary emo phase, and I wouldnt have such an undying love for The Offspring and Green Day.

Youve always known whats up when it comes to music, and theres nothing I love more than jamming in the car with you to American Idiot.

6. My listening skills

As a kid, I remember feeling annoyed at my mom all the time, because she was always on the phone with one of her friends, basically listening to their entire life story, when all I wanted was for her to make me some damn mac and cheese.

In my friend group, Im often the shoulder to lean on and the hand to hold. Ive never been a great talker, but I like to think Im good at listening to my friends, and I honestly love being there for them.

Look, my mom may not have any Italian blood in her, but DAMN does that woman know how to make a mean homemade tomato sauce.

8. My timeliness

Thanks to my mom, I may as well be allergic to the idea of being late.

I respond to emails ASAP, I am the unofficial planner of my friend group and I always make sure I know how long it will take me to get from point A to point B.

And if its a place Ive never been to before, you can pretty much guarantee Ill arrive at least 15 minutes early.

Of course, when you grow up near the Jersey shore, this is essentially a given. But for real, every single summer of my childhood was spent in the sand.
