My August sewing project - a pink dress, printed with red strawberries, white strawberry blossoms, and green leaves.

The waistband and corded piping at the hem are a denser raspberry print, and the knife-pleated ruffle at the hem is dark green with tiny darker green leaves. There is a plain pink bias binding around the V neck and narrower bias binding in the same pink around the edges of the short circle sleeves.

The dress has a zippered front closure. There are two patch pockets on the skirt, with strawberry button fasteners. The skirt is a half circle and, with the ruffle, falls to calf length.

(Yeah I know it's ooc for grovyle to EVER use the term "babe" but lets go ahead and assume he's done it accidentally a few times rather than intentionally. He's deeply in love with the dumb ghostman, ok. Sometimes it just slips out.)

Dusknoir is still recovering from hearing it. And when he finally calls grovyle "love" himself on accident a few days later, he falls deathly ill for two weeks cause his body couldn't handle the aftermath and started rapidly shutting down on a molecular level.

c. 1895-1903, gold-filled, made by the Waltham company. so she’s a New England lady through and through

and contrary to my standard “BUT THIS JANKY UNLOVED PIECE NEEDS ME” method of antiquing, I used some Christmas money to actually do the thing properly where a mechanical device is concerned. so she is recently serviced and keeps excellent time. I also love the use of texture to make the tone-on-tone design clear despite its monochrome look

now I think some skirts are in need of watch pockets...

This is hands down the dumbest thing I’ve done in a while. Don’t get me wrong I love it, it’s fucking adorable but like, it’s hard to argue that it wasn’t a completely stupid waste of time.

I have a lot of lovely positive friends here who will probably want to argue with me but like… what you have to understand is that a) I used faux fur yarn that made it extremely annoying to see what I was doing and definitely made this process take twice as long as it would have without such fuzzy yarn b) I used two separate yarns for the eyes because CLEARLY it would be silly for this little soot sprite to have fuzzy eyes and most importantly c)

I PUT THIS GUY ON THE INTERIOR POCKET FLAP. NOT A SINGLE PERSON WILL EVER SEE THIS!!! But it will forever make my pocket needlessly bulky!! You know, effectively destroying one of the main reasons to choose afterthought pockets over patch pockets!!!

There are Reasons I chose to do this and in spite of the above tone I’m not actually mad and I don’t actually regret anything but like. I was keenly aware as I fought the faux fur yarn that I was making life a lot harder than it needed to be. At minimum the eyes and size are probably both overkill.

(But ok the faux fur is perfect for the soot sprite!!! It’s so fucking cute jfc. It’s tonally jarring on my otherwise largely pastel sweater which is part of why I decided to do it in the interior pocket flap where it could be a secret just for me, but it is cute.)
