Watching the NYT cover the genocide rolling out every hot button issue and hoping it sways opinion against Palestine
NYT: Palestinians hate LGBTQ
NYT: Palestinians Beat their Wives
NYT: Palestinians don't want girls in school
NYT: Palestinians don't want women wearing make-up
NYT: Palestinians force women to wear veils
NYT: Palestinians use propaganda
NYT: Palestinians make children work
Guess what, NYT? Ultra Conservative groups in the US do all this, too. Where's your breaking coverage on their lives?

Extremist Christian fundamentalists in Hell still spouting that "imperfect vessel" bit about Trump.
I'm no theologian, but false god seems like a more accurate description than imperfect vessel regarding Trump's place in the religious universe.

You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, burning bushes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?

“Most religious folk will swear up and down that their religion, their Holy Book, does not condone atrocity, that any savagery committed is by crazies and hard-liners who follow the faith literally.
Tell me this: If your religion is that damned mean and nasty down deep inside, and you're having to make excuses for it, shouldn't that tell you something?”
Moderates do not represent the nature of a religion’s or ideology’s doctrine because, by definition, they occupy a middle ground between that doctrine and secular values and ethics. They view the doctrine through modern secular values (e.g. “it’s a metaphor!”), and vice versa (”morality comes from god”).
Next time you’re told that the “true” meaning of the doctrine is something nice and fluffy, say something like “oh, so you’re a fundamentalist?” And then watch them say “of course not!” and fail to grasp the problem.

MAGA pastor and self-proclaimed “prophet” Hank Kunneman took time out of his Sunday sermon this week to accuse musician Taylor Swift of engaging in “satanic rituals and witchcraft” while suggesting that there is some conspiracy behind her relationship with professional football player Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kunneman, who regularly uses his church services to spread conspiracy theories, misinformation, and lies about the 2020 election, seized on the ads Kelce has done to promote Pfizer’s COVID and flu vaccines, speculating that there must be some “connection” between Pfizer and the Kelce/Swift relationship.

Concept, based on how it's well-known that men who inflict their thirsting upon us end up cockblocking themselves just by being obviously gross. We call 'em incels.
We need a term for people who evangelize too much and cause people to lose interest via that.
I vote for evancel.

Blatantly Partisan Party Review VI (NSW 2023): Group G (Silvana Nile / Revive Australia Party)
Prior reviews (as the Christian Democratic Party): federal 2013, federal 2016, NSW 2019, federal 2019
What I said before: “The CDP sees no place in society for people who think, behave, or believe differently to them. Unless you worship the strict, narrowly-defined, judgemental, petty god to whom the CDP claims allegiance, this party is not for you.” (federal 2019)
What I think this year: This is all just a little bit weird really. Fred Nile was first elected to the NSW Legislative Council in 1981 for the Call to Australia Party, the predecessor of the Christian Democratic Party. He has been in the NSW parliament for over 40 years now; he is 88 years old. He secured the election of his first wife alongside himself for 14 years, the late Elaine Nile, and his second wife Silvana is running this year.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Fred announced his retirement in 2021, endorsing Lyle Shelton as his successor. But then he rescinded the deal (eat shit Lyle) and has served out his term. The CDP dissolved in 2022 and Nile joined Seniors United, but it too has been dissolved. He again announced his retirement in October 2022, but—you can see where this is going—announced last month that he’d stand again. Weirdly, he’s the second candidate to his wife Silvana, and they are the only two candidates in Group G. They do not get a square above the line (you need 15 candidates for that) and even if they had a square above the live and Silvana won election, there’s no chance they’d get a high enough vote for Fred to win a seat from second place. Why is he going out on a loss rather than retiring with dignity? Strange stuff.
Anyway, don’t vote for the Niles, they’re awful bigots. I would say they’ve leapt on the latest bandwagon of bile against drag queens, but Fred’s been pulling that particular wagon since he came to prominence as an opponent of Mardi Gras in the 1980s. Forty years down the track and he has not become a better person.
Recommendation: Give Group G (Silvana Nile / Revive Australia Party) a weak or no preference.

I’m not an atheist or someone who likes to blast someone because they’re religious, but this person needs to be called out.
I found a post on Facebook about a Barbie doll that happens to be a yogi. Here’s what an idiot, Yaseem Suri, said about Yogi Barbie:
“‘Yoga Barbie’ is at Target on the shelf. Satan always comes as appearing innocent. He will never come with horns and a pitchfork. This Barbie has 5 guided meditations. Remember, Yoga IS Hinduism. You cannot separate the poses from the religion. Each pose is designed to invoke a hindu deity in the spirit realm. I have seen children get possessed by demons. This Barbie also teaches you deep breathing(pranayama). Her pet is also involved. Satan is after the children. He wants to use them and indoctrinate them for his glory. Then, when he is done, he will destroy them. As your kids grow, they will get rebellious, depressed and many will be suicidal. You won't understand what's happening as a parent. God forbids all practices of eastern religion as a Christian. You must remove all toys and clean your children's room of all demonic attachments. Deuteronomy 18:10-12”
Riddle me this, Yaseem Suri: for something as so “satanic” as yoga, how come I felt more loved by the people from my yoga studio than I did in my Christian school? Also, between my “satanic” yoga studio and my Christian school, would you like to guess which facility is the reason why I can’t make friends in college even now because of being anxious around people between the ages of 18 and 25 (even though my secular community college didn’t do my anxiety any favors)?
You’re the reason why good, progressive Christians look bad.
I cannot stand “Christians” like this. I can’t stand hypocrisy, and I really do not like Christians who put down yoga especially when I feel more loved and accepted by my studio than I ever did in that Hellhole of a school.
Sorry. That stupid Facebook post reminded me of something that I am dealing with personally.

Have some talking points about how Ghost is a praise band that leaves you feeling good and Christian programming for kids makes you feel awful and teaches questionable lessons and morals.

I was raised fundamental. Fundamentalists believe that al forms of birth control are/cause abortions. Barrier methods contain spermicide (even ones that don’t), which fundamentalists believe cause abortions. Since they believe that life begins at conception, methods like hormonal birth control or even copper IUD’s are abortifacients. This will not stop with removing abortion protections, this is just the beginning of removing all bodily autonomy (for women, disabled people, and poc).
When I was younger, there was this “not of this world (notw) movement, which firmly stated the Bible verse “you are not of this world.” People had T-shirt’s, jewelry, bumper stickers, etc., claiming that they are not of this world. Jesus even said that a christian’s citizenship is not of this world, but of Heaven. I firmly believe that this movement gave way to the current “we must bring God’s law to earth” movement going on now because too many Christians were taking Jesus at his word and focusing on, you know, His Word, and not concerning themselves with politics.
The Left Behind series was huge then, especially the “rapture” ideal, where Christians believed God would call us home on the middle of the day (where we could extend both middle fingers (lovingly in Christ!) to the unbelievers as our last act of defiance, screaming “I told you so!” The entire way), but even that has taken a back seat to this current belief that we must make the entire world Christian.
It’s the paradox of evangelicism, that god is somehow The Biggest Ever and yet still too weak to work and move in a society that is completely disinterested in him.
The fundamentalists are United at this point. If they continue to get their way, divides will come, but for most of us those divides will mean nothing. If they can put aside their various issues to accomplish their goals, everyone else should too when it comes to fighting them. They are scary. Living that way is nearly impossible. You do not want the fundamentalists to get any more power than they already have.
