The mormon missionaries came by my ILs while they were home and we were over. They were talking about my ILs relatives on missions and where my ILs were going to go on vacation next and maybe it’s my time on fundieblr but I was just sitting there thinking “these are 100% questions they’re going to use to keep tabs on you they are way too interested in where you’ve been and where you’re going”
are you the anon whose in laws are mormon or ex-mormon? if so then yea they 100% are checking up on them lol.
even if you're not though they will definitely remember that your in laws said they have mormon family, and they might be asking about their vacation to see if there's anyone in that location they can ask them meet up with, which I know sounds super conspiratorial lol but that's exactly happened to me twice in my life at this point.....
the first time my bff and roommate was doing a seasonal internship at Sea World and had this mormon co-worker who constantly pestered her to meet up with his "friends" that were stationed in our college town. So we decided to do it out of just out of sheer curiosity (and spite on my friends end) under the impression it would be like, a hangout type situation only for it to be a one on one interview type thing with 3 or 4 missionaries. And the vibe was very much like we were starting the process to eventually join the church right off the bat.
it also happened to me when I lived in MT for a seasonal job at a national park, I had to talk to hundreds of people a day and be happy and polite and eventually 2 if those people were missionaries who asked me the same things: where do you live, where are you going after this job, do you have any trips planned, etc etc until they heard a place where they knew people by name (I told them I was going on a weekend trip to Idaho which was dumb) and asked me if I had time to meet up with a "friend" who knew the area and for my email address which I think to get away from them at one point I just made up a fake one.
I have no idea what benefit there is to that tactic if it is one, except maybe to show people that if you join the church you'll have a community no matter where you go? Or maybe it was just a coincidence bc in both situations my friend and I were living somewhere temporarily? Idk but yea no matter how friendly they are just remember their first priority is always to get you to join the church.

Hello everybody on fundie tumblr!
I’ve been a lurker for… way too long. So as this fascination of mine doesn’t seem to go anywhere, I finally decided to make my own blog.
I started following the Duggars, but nowadays I mainly follow the bateses, the girl defined sisters and sometimes some other YouTubers if they don’t make me to angry (looking at you, Paul and Morgan). I’m looking forward to weight in on fundieblr!
If I’m not procrastinating on tumblr I’m a law student from Germany. I’m queer and my girlfriend’s probably on her limit of hearing about fundies - so here I am.
I’m just gonna tag some of my favourite blogs - I hope that’s fine with y’all - so I don’t just scream into the abyss :D I follow from sunflowersinwinter.

Sim City News Station, Newcrest 5:00 pm
Tumblr media
Good evening, I’m Irina Johnston, and this is SCN daily news.
Years ago, the local community gathered to mourn the untimely death of evangelical mega-pastor Geoffery Landgraab. Shortly afterwards, we were all shaken to our core by the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Nancy Landgraab. Now, another bombshell has dropped.
Mr. and Mrs. Landgraab were found alive in Sulani this morning and arrested by agents of the Sim City Bureau of Investigation. The pair have been charged with money laundering, fraud, assault of a police officer, and obstruction of justice. They are currently being held in Sim City Maximum Security Penintentiary, awaiting trial.
Tumblr media
We caught up with their son and current pastor of the Megachurch of the Watcher, Malcolm Landgraab, outside of Landgraab Mansion. He had this to say:
“This is ridiculous. My mother and father are dead, may the Watcher bless their souls. So these people who were found in Sulani must be lookalikes. And if my parents aren’t dead, then they’re innocent. They’re good, Watcher-fearing people. And if they aren’t innocent, well, then, nobody’s perfect and we all make mistakes. I have no further comment at this time.”
The Megachurch of the Watcher is the largest church in the area, with over 5,000 members. Some have taken to social media in defense of the Landgraabs, causing the hashtag “Landgraabs did nothing wrong” to start trending. User TravisScott93 writes,
"An authority figure would NEVER do a bad thing!! I stand with Geoff and Nancy!! #fakenews #landgraabsdidnothingwrong #howdareyou #rip #viral #follow4follow”
As always, SCN news will report further updates as events warrant. Now, let’s take a look at tomorrow’s weather forecast.

I’ve been thinking a lot about those “emotional support oldest daughter” posts and ran across this today
Tumblr media
It’s kind of fascinating that the religion of control also realizes the importance of keeping the first born “in line”. Like they’re setting it up differently than the tumblr posts, but both concepts rest on the idea that parents rely too heavily on their oldest child to make their family function.

I feel like Fundieblr should take a bit of a break from snarking on the Duggars since they’ve had such an awful month, and focus on JRod snark. The Nurthan courtship is more than enough snark material.

Well Anna Duggar is pregnant with baby 7, a girl, and due this fall. Is it just me or does she usually announce earlier then this?
Edit - also is Mackenzyie wearing a romper with PANTS in that photo? That might just be the most interesting thing about this whole event

Several people have responded to my Follower Survey asking that I post more. I hear you. I would love to. That said, I am a full-time law student and subject to the realities of law school. If you know any law students, you will know that that means I study a lot. If you don’t know any law students, it’s probably because we all study too much and aren’t really allowed to leave the law school except to sleep (and even then, only sometimes). Anyways, finals begin next week and a reasonable and prudent student would get off Tumblr and focus on school. However, am I reasonable and prudent? I am not sure. But, if you don’t hear from me much for the next couple weeks, that is certainly why.

Hey, I made a new Tumblr for writing stuff, it's writing-and-complaining but it's a sideblog, so if you're a writer/writing blog who's just been followed by a random duggar blog, that's why haha

The Claddagh sure is an interesting choice for a man like Kody to adopt for his family considering it seems like he doesn’t represent any of the main meanings (love, loyalty, friendship). Or does he just expect the wives to hold up the meanings while he does what he pleases?
I have never watched SW, all of my knowledge comes secondhand from lurking fundieblr, for all I know he could’ve already explained his reasons for choosing the Claddagh for his family and that he did indeed expect the wives (and now at least one of his kids I guess?) to hold up the meanings.
I think we first learn about the Claddagh rings right before Kody marries Robyn bc the wives get one for her, and I can't remember the exact origin story but I think Kody just said he liked them so his sister wives all started wearing them as just kind of their own thing? There's more to it than that but Kody used to be really into his Irish ancestry so I think that was the main motivation lol.
They did say they like the symbolism and that it was something they wanted to strive for, but obv that's hard to do when you're married to a narcissistic idiot. In the early days the Browns made a bigger deal about trying to espouse certain morals and values than they did in later years, like one big plot line in an early season was them trying to agree on a family mission statement that they wrote out and framed and had a whole ceremony for.
I think it was a focus of theirs in the beginning bc when the show came out and for a while after, they were still the only example of Mormon polygamists most people had even heard of, and the public generally judged them super harshly. So they were probably invested in making people see them as a normal, decent family as opposed to sex freaks lol (the Claddagh thing did start before the show though).

Important thing to understand about how trials work because life isn't like TV/the movies (coming from someone who does not do jury trials and rarely has to do bench trials but does do contested hearings and has been trained on doing trials but fellow fundieblr lawyers who do more trial work feel free to correct me)
So as we move into the defense's case I wanted to highlight something important - putting on the case is about introducing evidence, both physical and also testimony. Everything gets tied together in closing arguments.
I say this because sometimes people will questions "why did prosecution ask x?" or "why DIDN'T they ask x?" and usually the answer is "because they didn't need to at that point"
Important thing to understand about how trials work because life isn't like TV/the movies to follow, it can be just as helpful to just make sure the information is out there and can be referred to without objection in closing arguments
All of that to say that there's a chance we may think the prosecution doesn't do much on the cross-examination of some witnesses, but it's likely because they already got good information out of their witnesses. Crossing too much runs a risk of information being out that they didn't know/that doesn't help their case. In law school and in practice you are often told that a good cross is short and to the point and is done to get out things that impact the testimony - either draws questions to it or to the honesty of the person. Also, and most importantly, as very well depicted in the book and movie, "A Civil Action" you should avoid asking questions you do not know the answer to. (I won't go so far as to say you should never, but it should be a rare thing for sure) so my tl;dr is that testimony is just about getting evidence out there, closing arguments are where it gets tied into a neat bow. In closing, prosecution goes first, then defense, then usually prosecution gets a chance to give a rebuttal, then the case is handed over to the jury.
