mike's role in the party:
a scouter - essentially plans runs, checks areas first to ensure safety, and directs the runners during supply runs
assigns basic survival chores at the beginning of each day (laundry, boiling water, patrol, hunting, etc.)
is the "face" of the party -> always the one to negotiate with people of other groups
even though the party likes to give him shit for being kind of rude and bossy about how he talks to them in "leader" mode - they always hang onto his every word! they love and respect him deeply
kind of like a tired dad whenever he's not fighting with someone else -> basically watches over everyone to make sure they're okay
would never hesitate to do something deplorable to protect the party: family first
skills + hobbies:
considered the designated driver (along with max): nancy taught him when he was younger. he was scared about being useless due to his inability to shoot and aim guns so nancy helped him find something useful. max teaches him how to drive manual so that he can drive her muscle car (its how they get over their distaste for each other)
writes an entry in a journal that he stole every day! he lets will doodle in the margins of the paper :)
loves to read whatever's around - particularly interested in history, sci-fi, and old journals from people before the apocalypse (reads them with dustin and el -> they are nosy as hell and live for the drama)
great at using machetes and hatchets -> do NOT let this boy shoot a gun. he will accidentally hurt you and himself
good at fixing up guns and navigating - lucas (guns) and dustin (navigating) taught him :D
quirks / fun facts:
he likes to switch around the pins on his jacket a lot! the party find pins around to give to him (range from terrible to wearable)
since he's the only boy that likes to tie up his hair, max and el like to doll up and play around with his hair during their downtime
is very annoying and particular when it comes to doing survival chores (out of love) -> makes sure that the chores are divided equally among all of them and that no one gets the same chores twice in a row
--- other notes: mike was the first character i had in mind when thinking about this au (no surprise there) and the drawing of him sitting cross legged with a machete in his hand was the first ever "official" drawing i made for this :D i tried to make apoc mike similar to canon mike in terms of his temperament, his hero complex, his self-sacrificial tendencies, his inability to appropriately process his romantic feelings, his natural leadership and his personality. about mike's inability to use guns -> looking at mike's character dnd sheet, his dexterity is low and s1 mike wheeler cannot aim for shit either (see his rock throw). the reason he's most comfortable with machetes (and hatchets) is because of their versatility as both weapons and tools! just wanted to share because i think mike needed a nerf and him not being able to shoot guns is both in character and funny as hell to me i've had mike and will's char sheets done for a while and i really love the way they look :) i'm excited to post will's next! i'm working on the character sheets in batches of two, so which duo are yall most interested to see next? i'll work on them based on the poll results and post them next week at the earliest :) i'll prob also try out some concept designs for the demogorgon-like zombies sometime soon as well!

eddie and roan try not to fall asleep while (almost stepmom) reader bakes a tray of brownies, 1.5k
Eddie can't sit on the couch, he lays down. He has ever since he can remember, and while he tried to be polite when he first moved in (unlike Roan, who made herself at home delightfully quickly), you're way past that now. 
"You look uncomfortable," you fret, tilting your head to the side as you look down on him in concern. "You want a pillow?" 
"I want you to lay down with me immediately," he says, making grabby hands at your stomach. 
You refuse him with a stunning, angelic, beatific smile, the kind that makes him think fuck I should marry her, before he remembers he's already going to. If there's one thing about Eddie Munson, it's that he wholeheartedly believes that you're the prettiest woman he's ever met. Maybe you started that way, maybe he loves you so much you've metamorphosed into an intoxicating creature of good looks, but whatever it is, he's obsessed with it. 
"Lie down with me," he demands. 
"I'm gonna make little brownies," you say, shaking your head, "but I know someone for the job." 
He's half expecting you to scoop Mr. Porterson out of his tank and hand him to Eddie in a cup, but you head upstairs to Roan's bedroom. He can hear your voice through the floor, and his daughter's answering gasp. She all but runs down the stairs, demarcated by you and Eddie shouting the same thing, "Don't run down the stairs, Ro!" 
She's huffing and puffing by the time she gets to the living room, rounding the couch to stand in front of Eddie. "Hello," she huffs. "You need a hug?" 
Eddie opens his arm and drags her in. He should say something cheesy and loving, like, don't I always? He's not a super serious guy, but it's been on his mind a little more often as the wedding approaches and Roan gets taller how lucky he is to have you both, and how things could be totally different. He never expected to be a dad and he honestly didn't want to be before he saw her little face.
Eddie remembers picking her up when she was still smaller than his arm, two inexperienced hands under her armpits raising her up because he realised he could. 
Her legs scrunched up toward her chest and he thought, oh, my god. And now she clambers on his chest and does her pill bug curl with her knees, reminding him so much of her baby scrunch and the way her head smelled. He drapes a gentle arm behind her and tries to pour every ounce of love he possesses into his touch as he pats her shoulder, a steady thump, thump, thump. 
"You smell nice," Roan accuses. 
"That's weird. Maybe check again." 
She sniffs him. "You smell yummy, like Y/N's shampoo." 
He may have ran out of body wash, and he may have used a dollop of your shampoo. He doesn't think it'll matter in the grand scheme of things and all you're sharing, but he puts his finger to his lips. "Shh," he whispers, "don't tell." 
"You said I'm not supposed to have secrets," Roan says. 
"You're not." Eddie draws a line down her back just to hear her giggle. "Except this one." 
"That's what you said about the last one." 
"This one and that one, then." Not like she managed to keep that one secret, either. What was he thinking, telling his five year old he wanted to propose? She lost her mind aloud. 
Then again, she spilled the beans and you immediately told Eddie he had to move in with you (he can't remember it perfectly now, but he's pretty sure you said, 'I think you better move in', which was just bossy enough to have him falling in love twice over). 
"I don't like secrets," Roan says.
Her voice strengthens as she gets older, and her pronunciation of things grows smoother. Occasionally she speaks and she sounds much older than she is. Currently, she talks with a funny cadence, emphasis on things that don't need it and, and an underlying sense of awe like she can't believe what she's saying. 
"Fine," Eddie says, pulling her closer still, "we won't keep this one secret. But if she shouts at me I'm going to have to sleep in your room tonight." 
"I'll sleep with Y/N." 
"No, because I'll need you to dry my tears." 
Roan nods into his chest, the faux silk of her sleeve shushing against his shirt as she brings a hand up to his hair. "Okie dokie," she says, twisting one of his curls around her fingers. "But don't cry." 
"I'll try not to, sweetheart." 
She smiles and relaxes fully into his arms. 
"Are you tired?" he asks. 
"Don't think so." 
"You've already got your jammies on. You don't want a bath tonight?" He's feeling affectionate for his life, adding, "Mommy has new bubble bath, it smells like chamomile. I'm sure she'd love to share with you." 
"Yeah?" 
"Mm-hmm." His eyes are getting heavy. Maybe he's tired. The thought of a bubble bath almost puts him to sleep. 
"Don't fall asleep," Roan whispers. 
"I'm not, Ro. Just resting my eyes. You don't have to stay and cuddle if you're busy." 
"I like you," she says. 
"I like you too."

Little brownies are the best thing ever. You make a very wet brownie batter and pour it thin in a big baking sheet. You barely cook them, and then when they're cooled and cut you freeze them, and when they defrost (at a time of your choosing) they're perfect for eating or putting into Roan's school lunchbox. You set the last tupperware of them into the freezer and wipe your cold hands on a dish towel, happy. 
It's a bit strange, but before you met your Munsons, you had no idea how peaceful it could feel to have done something for someone else. You weren't an overly selfish creature but there's this unnameable feeling that comes with doing this kind of 'chore'. Taking care of the people you love… 
Well, it feels good. Not as good as this is about to feel, you guess, turning off the kitchen light and locking the front door as you go. Eddie and Roan lay on the couch with the TV set to a loud volume. You'd assumed they'd both be awake, but it seems they've fallen asleep despite the odds. You're gonna languish in it with them just as soon as you can tetris your way into the pile.
Roan has crawled up the length of her dad's chest to press her cheek to his, and Eddie's wrapped his arms around her tightly, tucking her in with nowhere to turn. 
You can't fit into their cuddle pile without disturbing the peace, but you can't be expected to abstain, surely. 
You sink down onto the floor by Eddie's head, bringing your hand to his sleeping face. Careful, you stroke a twisted baby hair against his forehead, the dark kink of it like a thread through pale skin. 
Roan stirs, or wasn't as asleep as you thought. She yawns wide, lips smacking as she asks, "What are you doing?" 
You grin at her loud whisper. "Just looking. You okay?" 
"He's squeezing me." 
"Too much?" 
"No, I like it. I feel like a sardine." 
"Yeah?" You rest your upper body on the couch, her pyjama top satiny under your hand. "You like it? You're not claustrophobic?" 
She gives you a daunted look.
"It means squished, pretty much," you say.. 
"I like it," she reaffirms. Roan pulls her arm out of Eddie's grasp to touch yours. "Dad says I can have some bubble bath." 
"Of course you can, princess. You know you can have anything of mine." Except the top shelf stuff, but she can't reach that high. "I left you some brownies for ice cream." 
"You did?" 
"Yeah, I did." You meet her eyes, formidable baby browns that you never stood a chance against. Her cheek is warm as you lean in for a quick peck. "You're beautiful. I love you." 
Roan gasps happily. "You're beautiful-er!" 
"Thanks," Eddie mumbles, smirking as he starts to wake from his nap. 
"Time d'you call this, Eds?" you ask fondly. 
He turns his face one way and the other, agonised. "Oh, but I was so cozy! My girl is so soft and she's pretty much my blanket, and she was being so nice to me!" He sighs, a picture of distress, his voice croaky with the edge of sleep. "Can you ever forgive me?" 
"Sure!" Roan says, laughing. 
"Just this once." 
He squints at you. "This is pretty much your fault anyways." 
"You'll forgive me. Please?" He leans up for a kiss. "S'what I thought," you say into his lips.
You nudge him back and squeeze onto the couch. He has to go on his side for you to for and Roan ends up half on top of you, a knee jabbed into your stomach. Still, it's fine for now. Your quiet desire to be cuddled with them is abated, a strong arm behind your back and a much smaller hand sneaking inside your shirt sleeve to warm the attached, similarly small fingers.

how do you deal with an unwanted but undeniable crush? you avoid them: save the friendship, mourn the relationship. or, so you thought.
including: cyno, the wanderer.
warnings: gender neutral reader, slight angst, mostly fluff.
cyno.
when you realized you’ve developed feelings for cyno, your best friend, you didn’t know what to do. you couldn’t tell him and ruin the friendship. that would be a disaster, and break your heart twice over: once, to lose cyno as a friend, and again, to lose him as anything more. so you resigned yourself to only have your heart broken once: you would avoid cyno until your feelings disappeared, and keep your friendship with him intact.
so that’s exactly what you do. everything was going fine, too—until today, when cyno cornered you in a small alcove at the akademiya.
“oh, cyno…! funny seeing you here…”
“is it, though?” he asks. “i do work here. we both work here, actually. wouldn’t it be stranger not to see me?”
yes, it is, but cuno doesn’t give you time to respond before he continues: “so isn’t it quite strange that i haven’t seen you in what? a week or two now?”
“yes… i guess.”
cyno waits for more, but you give him nothing else. you fidget under the weight of his stare. he’s observing you and you get the feeling like you’re an experiment gone wrong, a conclusion miscalculated.
“al-righ-t,” cyno finally says, drawing out each syllable. he hesitates for a second before his face hardens and he says, “if you want to avoid and ignore me and pretend i don’t exist, then you can avoid and ignore me and pretend i don’t exist. i can’t stop you, even if i hate it. but i would have at least wanted an answer as to why.”
cyno steps aside then, as if to tell you the conversation is gone, you’re free to go. but you don’t move, can’t move. you can’t even think as cyno steps away, only his words ringing in your ears: i would have at least wanted an answer as to why. you owed him that much, at least.
“wait, cyno—“ you take in a deep breath, and the words tumble out all at once. “i’m sorry, i’m so sorry for avoiding you i— i really thought it was the best since i like you and you don’t like me, and i didn’t want to ruin our friendship but it just ended up hurting the both of us and it was a really stupid, but i didn’t know what else to do and… i’m really sorry.”
you look up when cyno doesn’t say anything. he’s still studying you, maybe even more intensely than before.
“yes.” he finally says.
“what?”
“it was really stupid.”
your face burns in embarrassment. cyno continues, “not just your plan—but that you thought we couldn’t be friends if i didn’t feel the same way back.”
“i know i just—“ you abruptly cut off, repeating what cyno just said in your head. “you feel… the same way back?”
“yes. i’d tell you it was stupid not to realize i also like you… but until now, i didn’t know you felt the same.”
“oh.” and then again, because you don’t know what else to say, “i’m sorry.”
cyno allows a faint smile to grace his lips. “i’ll forgive you this time, [name]. honestly, i’m just relieved you don’t hate me.”
“i could never hate you,” you say immediately.
“it didn’t feel like that this week. or last.” you look down again, disappointed that you allowed yourself to make cyno feel that way. he continues, a little gentler: “you’re going to have to make it up to me.”
“how?” you ask, already knowing you would do anything.
“how about you let me take you on a date? granted that’s something you probably want but there, you can tell me everything.”
you wouldn’t say no on any circumstance, but especially not when cyno’s finally smiling at you again. your relationship was off to a more than rocky start, but you find yourself hoping you can turn it around for the better.
the wanderer.
it was hard to avoid the wanderer as you were adventuring over teyvat together, just the two of you. when you first realized your feelings for him, and decided they would only prematurely end your expedition when he didn’t feel the same back, you swore to keep them a secret. to do that, you would need to distance yourself from him, but that proved rather difficult and… well, extremely obvious.
you stare into the flames of your small campfire. you sit opposite of the wanderer, though on previous cold nights like these, you probably would have been right next to him. similarly, you both would have trading stories and reminiscing about past adventures, not blanketed in this silence.
it’s clues like those, coupled with the equally obvious signs that you were had feelings for him, that let the wanderer discover your plan.
the wanderer leans back, resting on his elbows. the sun was setting, and already the stars would come out. on clear nights like these, you would spend hours—maybe the whole night—pointing out the different constellations.
looking at you now, eyes boring in the fire, the wanderer knows that’s not going to happen tonight. at least, not if he doesn’t do something about it.
“you’re quiet tonight,” he starts. you glance up sharply at him.
“yeah, i guess,” you mumble, looking back down.
“why?”
you trace circles in the dirt. “i’m just… tired. i guess. yeah, i might just go to bed early—“
“have you ever heard of,” the wanderer cuts you off, “the phrase, ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder?’”
you pause. he can’t possibly know… can he?
“i’ve know of it,” you reply tightly.
“so then you also know that you’re little idea of ignoring me in hopes that your feelings go away was doomed from the start, right?”
startled, you look back up again, and meet the wanderer’s gaze. you meet the wanderer’s gaze, and like all the times before, you know there’s no use in lying to him. not when he already suspects the truth. “i… yes.”
“and i assume you didn’t want me knowing because you didn’t think i liked you back?”
your silence is answer enough.
“well, you’re right.”
what.
what?
but then the wanderer cracks a smile, and he’s beside himself laughing: “oh, you should’ve seen the look on your face.”
“you’re the worst.” but now there’s a smile on your face, and you’re also laughing: at him, at your plan, at how despite your fears, the wanderer likes you back.
it makes you feel giddy, like you could spend the entire night laughing under the stars—and looking at the wanderer, now coming to sit next to you, you feel like you just might.

Propaganda for BACKDRAFT:
"Backdraft may be a minute shorter than Bring It On, but it’s still over three minutes long, and it makes up for the lost minute with a complex form. The “Pressure! Pressure!” might be the only part that truly repeats.
At the beginning, Fuuta is showing off, acting cool. Then the music slows down as he ponders his verdict. Then the music picks up the pace again and gets more and more frantic as the consequences of his actions catch up to him.
See that structure in the three distinct verses that sound nothing like anything else in the song: cool, contemplative, and “oh no, what have I done”.
The “chorus” (burn burn!) never stays the same. You’ve got the “cool” first chorus. Then you have the muted second chorus as it sinks in that Fuuta’s victim was a middle-school girl, which leads into the tense final chorus (which is twice as long as the first) as the victim and Fuuta both burn.
The instrumental and the spoken-word from the beginning combine in the end, changing the mood of the stanza from confident and showy to panicked and desperate.
And the words… You can hear the wordplay in the last stanza, even if you don’t understand it.
Appreciate this chaotic masterpiece of a song."

- Fuuta being very cocky at first before realizing how fucked he is (it is kinda funny) - The use of spray cans and overall graffiti symbolism, it’s so good - The multiple eyes and people off camera showing how paranoid Fuuta has become, it’s really well done without being obvious - The name backdraft meaning when a fire deprived of oxygen gets a sudden influx of it. A kind of metaphor for what Fuuta did. Then it being shown through a spray can explosion, aaaa it’s really cool! - Fuuta’s overall look changing, being more realistic on how he actually looks contrasting Bring It On’s idealistic version of himself - Es at the end!! The only time Es shows up in a prisoner’s MV!!! And they looks so damn cool - Also the entire eye thing referencing the audience, he perceives us lmfao

"Back draft is incredible because it not only has great visual symbolism with the use of the spray cans but its visual symbolism shows a progression from ‘Bring it on’. In ‘Bring it on’ the channelling is glorious , fuuta is surrounded by people and fuuta idealised himself (taller , better teeth , better posture ect) , the people he cancelled were portrayed as these powerful rpg monsters but now in back now the channelling is portrayed as vandalism a crime as destructive , the ally is empty we only ever see others as hands or his victim fuuta is alone and fuuta is no longer idealising his appearance and his mind is now portraying his victim as a harmless cutesy drawing. This shows a change in how fuuta views his crime between T1 and T2. It wasn’t glorious, it wasn't justified , he was at fault. The fire being recontextsied as something out of control , all consuming and out of control which is the opposite of how it was portrayed in ‘Bring it on’ we really see how the vote has changed fuuta."

"There’s so many interesting details like the applause towards the start of the song , the personality in the subtitles like them going from “Burn , burn!” To “burn , burn?” But the pressure’s punctuation mark stayed the same:   “pressure , pressure!” , the way FIRE is the only word in full caps till LIES. The thumbs down fuuta does during “the fights up here! Come up to the ring and face me!” Part which is like his T1 art , the way the lighting changes from green towards the start and becomes red by the end (stop go colours) , The way fuuta is constantly interacting with the camera , spray painting it twice and kicking it."

We are there like we are the ones doing it/looking through the eyes of the person doing it. When fuuta/the others spray paint the graffiti of his victim and the ice gorilla it's from the audience’s perspective , we don’t see them do it, we see it like we are doing it. When the spraypaint can explodes it's like it’s exploding in our face and then when es spray paints fuuta at the end they are spray painting the camera(audience). "

Muu did everything wrong free my girl- I love her bug design here, the pure drama of it and how she showcases Rei as a human in the bug world is so cool."

"INMF is what got me into Milgram in the first place so of course I have to shill for it. I think its one of my favorite MVs Visually as the scenes set in the bug-web location are so visually striking. Muu and the rest of the bugs dark-purple skin and Muu's and neon pink hair stand out so much against it and it's so Pretty and Vibrant.
Storytelling wise INMF is amazing, it's a complete 180 of how Muu is seen in After Pain but not to the point where it feels like Muu is a totally different character. Muu is both a genuine victim and (in my opinion) a failgirl queen. She's trying her best to keep the image up but she is...NOT good at being a manipulative mastermind. And like After Pain before it, you can figure that out just through the visual and lyrical storytelling, that to some extent this is Still Also a Role Muu is Playing.
It's good! It's really good stuff! Muu is a character of cycles and After Pain and INMF work really well as a cyclical story about bullying. I think Muu should Win on having Good Storytelling and Fantastic Visuals and Being a Worst Girl. You should do it for all the girls in the world who are the Worst."

Truly those calling it “bad writing” that Robin and Vickie share similarities doesn’t make sense. She’s not been given enough time to be more than just a love interest, but we do have some info about her:
1. Molly Ringwald inspo, giving us shorthand about being kind of a quirky gal. Hat! Visually, she’s similar to Robin, but that’s not a bad thing because literally similar interests draw people together. She is also skirts vs Robin’s trousers. Femme/Soft Butch! You’re telling me Vickie would wear a tie? Lies.
2. Likes goofy jokes, namely Steve’s joke about Muppet Tammy. Which, Robin doesn’t laugh at Steve’s jokes that much- she dismisses them, but it means Vickie has a bit of a jocular sense of humour.
3. Vickie also likes Steve’s brand of movies, not Robin’s- which is pretty fucking funny. Again, this is not making Vickie similar to Robin, but to things shared with Robin’s Platonic Soulmate. Like, bro movies? Stupid lil jokes? I predict Steve and Vickie having a dad joke competition next season & torturing Robin with how corny they are. People like to talk about the similarities to Robin, but not the similarities to Steve! That’s kind of clever drawing Vickie closer to one of Robin’s favourite people, at least superficially.
4. Talks a lot when one on one, but Vickie wasn’t nervous/flustered in the band scene, so we can infer in more crowded spaces she acts differently/subdued - as like she was in the War Zone. This is unlike Robin who does actually ramble in group scenes, like freaking out over the thing in El’s leg, the rabies bit, or generally a lot of Season 4 where she looses her “cool girl” archetype from Season 3 in favour of chaos. Vickie seems more like she would quietly panic, as opposed to Eddie, Argyle, and Steve who all loudly go WHAT THE FUCK. Which is going to be interesting to see as the whole town is now thrown into an open gate downtown Hawkins probably releasing demogorgons every other hour like it’s Pacific Rim up in this bitch.
5. Meaningful look with Robin in the War Zone- not “oh hi band friend!” A scared/caught/dismayed look that she was there. So there is a connection, and she broke up with her boyfriend after that connection. Anything more is speculation, but the way she wasn’t looking at Robin when she gave the “he doesn’t like Fast Times” reason lets the audience draw points and maybe she felt trapped? Like it was just an excuse to pursue a different interest? Obviously because music is playing indicating a romantic relationship. We don’t have much to compare Robin with on this one, but around Keith she still had more confidence and bullshittery trying to convince him to hire Steve when Keith assumed they were a thing.
6. Vickie also doesn’t seem jealous. Robin is jealous. She was livid at Steve for being the object of Tammy’s affections, but Vickie hasn’t seemed to even look twice at Steve- even as Robin looked over at him while she and Vickie had her last scene.
For such a short amount of time in the season, I think that we have a good foundation for similarities and differences to Robin. Also, once again, it’s not a crime to avoid “opposites attract” tropes. Having similarities is good! Like, the amount of couples I know that are essentially the same archetype of queer person is not even close to zero. Especially when it comes to older queer couples who got together in the 80s/90s, they kind of morph into being one granola bar of a human being. Kind of similar with straight people when they genuinely like one another.
I hope they flesh Vickie out, but like, we’ve gotten a similar amount of screen time for Mr Clarke but no one is mad he is “one dimensional” when he is just, some exposition science guy. He’s a stock and standard teacher, has a girlfriend, and kind of goes along with explaining shit without questioning why a lot. But folks love Mr Clarke. Is it because Mr Clarke isn’t getting in the way of your ship?
I never thought I would see the day there were some true blue f/f ship wars, but bruh, Robin’s love life isn’t an A Plot so give the writers some slack. They’re human, not the devil. None of you were gleeks and it shows so fucking much. None of you lived through “angry lesbians on the internet don’t want me dating you”.
Personally I’m looking forward to Robin and Vickie getting together and maybe hopefully kicking monster butt together- or at least, Robin getting a nice little badass moment defending her gal.

HORROR MOVIE NIGHT! feat. Diluc, Childe, Kaeya, Zhongli
a/n: I’ll try to update slowly again to adapt myself to publish everyday again! Hellow Hellow :D a little suggestive on kaeya's and also it's a little shitty just put a random prompt generator
Diluc:
As the TV reflected a big, bloody "The End", you searched quickly the remote to turn the Devil's machine off. With a sigh, Diluc left your side on the sofa, getting up on the dark living room, unable to walk due to your fingers jailing his t-shirt.
"What?" he asks, in low tone, looking at you (or so he thinks, you're totally deep in dark). You think twice about telling him, moving your legs on the sofa, making the remote fall and almost give you a heart attack. "You're scared, honey?" he asks, still quiet voice. "Wait, I'll go and turn the light..."
"No" you cut him. "Please, don't leave me alone on the couch. You saw what happened in the film..."
He leans towards the sofa, blindly searching your lips. It might be your connection or his senses to always find you, but he's kissing you softly, making your eyes close and forget anything you've seen the last two hours that could trigger you at night.
"Nothing is gonna happen, dear." he murmurs, lips touching yours as he talks. "I'm with you."
Childe:
He enjoys good horror films, and it makes it more difficult for you to watch them. Even when he insisted that you don't have to watch them if you don't like, you still want to accompany your boyfriend to the cinema to see all the new releases and the most scary ones, the ones with night entry and midnight exit. It's cold when you put a feet outside of the cinema, with Childe sighing by your side.
"It was good, but definitely not something to take away my sleep, don't you think, pretty?" You nod, making an effort to dissimulate the trembling of your legs and your sweaty hands, and trying to repress the impulse of looking around all the time, like an owl. Childe passes his arm around your shoulders, making you quiver in fear for a second. Then, he turns around, face to face, looking at you directly in the eyes.
"Thanks for accompanying me tonight. I know you don't like this films, and still, here you are. I will never thank you enough." his eyes are serious when he speaks, his hand searching yours and his cheeks blushing, maybe for the cold weather, maybe with pure adoration. "Let's go and have dinner in this 80's style place."
Taking his hand happily, you walk by his side, but his malevolent smile makes you suspect. His hand rests on your low back when he murmurs on your ear, sending a chill down your spine.
"Like the one where they killed the couple on the film, hm?"
Even tho he laughed and apologized almost a hundred times after it, now you're at home, lights all on, waiting for your funny boyfriend to finish the dinner he promised you to cook for such a disagreeable joke.
Kaeya:
Him? Scared? How is that even possible?
"You're scared" Kaeya looks offended towards your accusation. Is 2:50 AM when the film finishes and Kaeya turns on the side light. He looks – surreptitiously – to his surroundings before he finds an accusatory finger pointing at him. His cheeks get a little blushed before his usual cocky smile appears again.
"Me? No, babe. Making that accusation only leaves to one answer: You're the one scared." Still, he keeps looks from the side of his eye to the TV, now in pause, with still the fucking "Based on real facts." that is making him feel like throwing up, crying and leaving the country at the same time.
You turn the TV off and head to bed, with Kaeya behind you, turning all the possible lights on on his way. Light is faster than the monster, or that's what he wants to believe. After all, is there something faster than the light? He feels so secure with it, like having always an invisible friend that comes quick to your call.
One of the cats – probably – on the guest room makes a picture fall from the wall. It's an usual noise – this cat has already reached 4 of the 7 drawings hanging on the cream colored walls – but still, Kaeya corrected his theory about light and claimed that the monster was faster.
"Kaeya, come on. We're not that rich to leave every single light on. Go before me and I'll turn them down as I pass, ok?" Kaeya nods twice, trice, he doesn't know how to express the genuine gratitude that that simple phrase has put inside him. Still, he shows his flirty side.
"Going first gives me a little time to undress until you arrive, be ready."
Zhongli:
It doesn't matter if you get easily scared by horror films, because watching one with Zhongli is a whole new experience. Legs tangled and a bowl of popcorn in the middle of you, while your boyfriend keeps talking as the film continues.
"Like damn, I've seen the knife on the kitchen counter 5 times already, and you're fighting with fists because you want to."
"I'll never get why when a door looks like the other ones in horror films they all open them and act surprised when the monster is inside"
"This camera movements make me dizzy."
"Do you want to get pizza for dinner?"
"It's so predictable that the jumpscare is gonna be here, oh, there you see."
Actually, you think it's just the talkative personality of your boyfriend, but Zhongli is always caring that you're comfortable while watching this type of films. You do like watch whatever they're putting on TV on Saturday's with him and, honestly, your body releases the tension and the film looks less scary with every single comment Zhongli makes. That's why at night, both hugged under the covers and his mouth resting on your neck, you talk quietly.
"Thanks for the comic relief during the film. It really makes it a lot less scary."
He kisses your neck soflty, smiling against it.
"It's done, love. I hope they start to put the good films again."
"Oh, no..." Zhongli laughs quietly, getting on top of you.
"One rich girl moves to the countryside and learns to take care of cows, must be my favorite genre."

You need to stop pretending that you like Endeavor! You don't. And it's fine. You are not obligated to like the character you don't like. But that doesn't give you the right to dismiss what Hori wrote because you have some biase opinion forward the character. Endeavor did step up as a father, and it started from the license exam, when he started thinking what powers mean, then after the high end fight, he tried to talk to Natsu he, funny enough, didn't want to talk, but Endeavor still followed him and talked to him, then we got the Agency arc, Endeavor still keep contact with Fuyumi and talks to her, thanks her for everything, and ended that arc by assuring Natsu, he is not seeking forgiveness, it's ok to hate him, and the reason why he froze was he thought if he saved Natsu he would have never talked to him ever again, and finally the aftermath of PLW, the heroes were searching for Shigaraki and co, Endeavor was desperately trying to find Dabi, he couldn't talk to him because Dabi was hiding with AFO. the final arc started with Shoto’s way of punishing Endeavor, by not letting him fight Dabi and forcing him to fight AFO, Shoto wanted to handle Dabi, but couldn't stop him, Dabi teleported to Endeavor’s location and started burning the area around them, the same place kids who Dabi burned in the last war, Tokoyami who is too weak to fire, and Jiro who got her ear bitten off by AFO, Hawks asked Endeavor to lead Dabi away so they can deal with AFO, Twice’s a clone and angry sad Toga, he wasn't running away, he was trying to save the kids from the flame he created, he tried to reason with Dabo, telling him to turn off his fire, but Dabi’s fire burned his brain, he couldn't think, Endeavor realized he must save his family from the explosion, to sit on the table and be happy, even if he couldn't be there, he was thinking about his family when he was hugging Dabi, when Rei and the kids came, Endeavor begged Dabi to kill him alone, to not hurt them, he didn't know what to do because Dabi didn't want to talk or listen, but thanks tonShoto stopping Dabi, Endeavor was able to talk to him. Your whole “Endeavor chose to be a hero over his family” which is wrong, Endeavor chose action and words to atone. But he couldn't talk to 1) Rei: because she was still afraid, 2) Dabi because he disappeared after the war 3) Natsu: because he didn't want to talk to Endeavor. Your philosophical rant about Endeavor running away metaphorically doesn't work. And yes, I read your blog, you are willing to write OOC headcanons about Dabi teaming up with Shoto to save the evacuees rather than understanding some canon fact as Endeavor was drawing Dabi away to deal with him.
I don't pretend to like Endeavor, because I never did. I said I like the themes he represent in the manga. There is a difference.
However, I do not accept rants from people who cannot tell the difference between the manga and anime-only distortions.
Endeavor did not go after Natsuo. Go back, read Ch 192. That's anime-fabrication
"Endeavor still keep contact with Fuyumi and talks to her," - how is this something note-worthy? This is like bare human minimum. Fuyumi makes all the openings to Endeavor. Thanking her for all the tremendous work she does is not some big father-like gesture. It should be the bare minimum. Yet, it only occurs to Endeavor to say it after Izuku profoundly thanks her and even Bakugou does in his own backwards way.

3. Yes, we all know the reasons - does it ever occur to you that Endeavor's thoughts are not the OBJECTIVE TRUTH? Like the dude also justified it to himself that he's pushing for extra kids to help Touya, but we all know that wasn't the reason, but because he wanted his perfect heir.
4. Let's just forget then how Endeavor:
Did not speak to Touya during the reveal other than to tell him it's a lie.

Did not try to go after Touya who was burning down publicly a house because he realized his father won't look for him, despite his promise to Shouto. And no Endeavor did not do jack shit during the Dark Deku arc that some other hero couldn't have done. He chose to play hero instead of keeping his promise to his family.

When he saw his son in funeral outfit in the parking lot, he didn't try to talk to him, didn't say his name. He left Shouto deal with his suicidal brother.

In fact he does not call Touya his name or try or reason with him until he hears about the explosion.
His murder -suicide plan is not about his family, but about trying to save the bystanders, which is what a hero would do.
Rei and the others don’t want Touya to die, but Endeavor doesn’t for a moment try to save him, and doesn’t think he can.
It always astonishes me what low standards there are when it comes to Endeavor. But none of this behaviour says “stepping up as dad”. It takes Touya burning himself to death, the entire family intervening, Shouto fighting on two different battlefield to get Endeavor say something as simple that he could have done at Jakku - to say sorry for not going to Sekoto peak.

You say love is messed up, you say that it don't work. You don't wanna try, no, no (you don't wanna try, no, no) ⎯ From pushing and pushing, you don't seem to budge from where you stand. Instead you're waiting there for me. Waiting for my answer that you've already predicated. Am I that obvious? Or did you predict this as well?
It's actually hard for you to even notice that she knows. With her stoic expression and all, as well as her unbothered attitude, you never would've found out about her knowing until you had eventually confess.
But before that can even occur, SAKURA would remain silent and resilient to whatever nonsense you had to say about love. How it's foolish, silly, a lie, etc.
However one thing she does notice when you start talking about it is how each time you mention something different about it, there's always a distant look in your eyes.
Whether it's mentioning the way some couples act sickly sweet to each other or how they'd bring their significant other to some place special, there was always this... Longing expression that you yourself might've not noticed, but she did.
The way you stared afar for a while, making it quite easy for her to admire the look on your face. It makes her a bit sadden to see how you weren't honest with your feelings, but also understand why you weren't so open about it.
That's why she doesn't speak up about it, or try to approach you on the topic. She's the type to wait for your answer, and if you still weren't willing to? Well one way or another she'll eventually draw the answer out of you sooner or later.

I don't know your secrets but I'll pick up the pieces. Pull you close to me now ⎯ Why don't you leave me alone? Why are you such a thorn to my side? Can't you see that I hate you? That you make me sick? Just looking at you makes my stomach churn, so what's with that dumb look on your face for?
Oh he knows. He knows and he fucking loves it so much. Basking at even knowing but still chasing after your love is so exciting for him, especially when you kept trying to push him away and deny it all, he just keeps coming back.
NATSUHIKO as we all know him very well, is a romantic at heart ⎯ he'd go far and beyond to show his love for you, heck, even showing it off despite your counters against it.
And although he might not say it out loud for you or anyone to hear, he is a bit ... Hurt? For you, seeing as you weren't honest with your feelings and kept pushing it down, was it because of his previous acts of flirting to others that made you feel as if he'd toy with yours? Or was it perhaps a past relationship that made you see things the way they are now?
He didn't know, he wants to know but he didn't want to drag you into saying it.
So instead, he awaits for whatever your reason or answer might be while also still trying to court you in the best ways possibles for a lady/gentleman such as yourself.

Treat me like a comma, I'll take you to a new phrase. Yeah, come just eat me and throw me away ⎯ I don't understand what's so special about me that makes you act like this, so childish yet so loving... Is this some kind of joke to you? Are you pulling on the strings of my heart simply because it's funny? You're cruel to make me fall for you even more.
He knows and he's pestering you about it. Upset that you're trying to keep it from him while also finding it so entertaining, especially about the little comments you make on love.
Why did it upset you? Why are you denying it? It's interesting to see how you shy away from his touches due to not 'wanting to be in love' but at the same time, looking like a love stricken fool.
TSUKASA doesn't necessarily take too kindly if you keep up with this act though, as it soon becomes more irritating than interesting for him. So if you aren't admitting to your feelings by the time he starts switching up, you might be in a lot of trouble and find some of your classmates going missing.
He sees no point keeping them around if you aren't willing to have him either.
But...if you do end up confessing to him before all of that could happen, he would be so overjoyed! Bouncing around and clinging onto you as if he hadn't just threatened demanded for your answer earlier!
It did came out as forceful... Maybe even a bit worrying from how he made you get straight to the point rather than beat around the bush for too long ⎯ but in the end, you did end up getting what you wanted, right? You have him now and he has you.
(Gonna add this extra part here just in case some readers aren't a big fan of yandere endings: But Sakura would talk to Tsukasa at one point about it and let him know of your feelings before you even got the chance to. Instead, having him confront you about it rather than the other way around ⎯ so that he could take the initiative and put the end to this cat and mouse chase.)

OFMD Spiral Narrative 47: What Would Jeff Do?
Intro: What I love most about how season 2 builds on season 1 of OFMD is the spiral narrative structure. Ground is repeatedly and explicitly re-trod from season 1 to season 2, but in season 2 everything goes deeper than season 1. Meanings are shuffled, emotions are stronger and truer, and transformation is showcased above everything. The first season plucks certain notes, then the second season plucks the same ones--but louder, and then it weaves them together to create a symphony.

Ed identifies himself as "Jeff" twice in the series, once in each season. In the first season, the name--and the personality that goes with it--is essentially a throwaway, a casual lie as Ed reaches for a childhood fantasy. But using that name also gives Ed an excuse to disconnect from himself, from his own fears and insecurities. When the name reappears in season 2, he's no longer strong enough internally to maintain that dissonance. But then a funny thing happens: by the end of the series, Ed absorbs "Jeff" into his everyday self, as he sets out on a new chapter in his life.
The first time Ed mentions "Jeff," it's when he's attending a fancy party with Stede. The implication is that he's been fantasizing about something like this ever since he was a child--but his reasons for choosing his name and profession here are shallow.

The joke, of coure, is that Ed, who's lived a mad life, would find this mundane name and dull job "exotic." And even then, he doesn't really know how to reach for a different life. His reaction to experiencing fear at the party is to project his own everyday methods of survival onto "Jeff."

Not only that, but he then proceeds to tell stories as himself, but pretending to be "Jeff."

The only reason the "Jeff" persona survives this is that people think he's telling tales. The division between "Ed" and "Jeff" is broken in Ed's mind, but to these people Ed doesn't really exist. This might look like a kind of integration, but it's not. It's all about pageantry, and the ideas people are projecting onto Ed.

By the end of the night, Ed's not even being called "Jeff" anymore. They've given him a new cruel nickname.

The "Jeff" identity fails to give Ed any safety in this unfamiliar setting, and he almost immediately loses control of its meaning.
In season 2, Ed resurrects Jeff, complete with a new title: innkeeper.

On the one hand, this actually immediately signals how Ed's matured since the first time he called himself "Jeff." He chose accounting because the word sounded good, but he demonstrates having actually thought about innkeeping and why he'd like it.

Accounting was just a word to Ed, but innkeeping is something he can draw on his own experience to understand (kinda), translating it into terms that are relevant to his life.
That said, Ed still demonstrates a level of removal from the situation. He doesn't really believe at this point that he could have a life like "Jeff the Innkeeper" (just like he feared he couldn't have a life like Jeff the Accountant).

And he immediately attacks himself for thinking he could have a life like this. Hornigold is Ed: when Hornigold sneers at the idea that Ed could become something other than a pirate, that's Ed sneering at himself.
But then the seasons diverge. In season 1, Ed never mentioned Jeff or accounting again. In fact, he never restarts his lessons on "the ways of an aristocrat" again, abandoning the dream for the shallow thing it is. Because he doesn't want it anymore. He wants something else.

The meaning of that scrap of silk he carried used to be that he'd always long for something fine he could never have; now there's someone in front of him who thinks he's "fine" himself. He doesn't need to long for more, he has more.
In season 2, Ed also never mentions Jeff again. But he does mention becoming an innkeeper again.
Not only that, he expands the idea of innkeeping to include Stede.

In season 1, Jeff was a version of Ed who had all of the benefits of piracy (determination, good stories), but none of the drawbacks; a version of Ed who was worthy of all the things Ed feared he was unworthy of. An innocent, childhood fantasy.
In season 2, Jeff is gone. There's just Ed, who is no longer trying to reconcile dissonant versions of himself, who is putting aside piracy to try to grow in different ways. A version of Ed who is adult, and flawed--and loved.

You've seen all kinds of reactions on Chrollo's face—and enjoyed them— but never have you seen it look like this before and truthfully you want nothing more than for it to go away... "

SO GRATEFUL FOR MY EYES!!!!!!!!! his expression good god it's eerie in the best way, the shadows falling over his face, his body language looking so tense... then darling's hands curling up in realization that uh oh. this is truly a dangerous situation they've found themself in. (you draw hands so well, how do you do that??? your power is unmatched...)
i love that he's reading a newspaper, he really does seem like the type to get news from the traditional avenue. especially if it's reporting on the gruesome escapades of the phantom troupe. the thought of him reading about his crimes while enjoying a morning cup of coffee, across from his darling, is chilling. AA i just love the atmosphere you get from it being in black and white, the sketchy lines/shading, it has this dark vibe that i can't get enough of. i don't know what i ever did to deserve such a blessing in my inbox.

hey c! can i ask how do we get over the feeling of embarassment when drawing self-indulgent shippy fanart? i've seen most of your amazing art and i've noticed that you don't seem to hold back when drawing fanarts, it's really beautiful with the way you portray characters' intimate relationships.. be it thru manga, illustrations, sketches. I have quite a lot of ideas on my mind that I want to draw similar to what you've drawn in terms of shipping characters, but I can't help but feel embarassed most of the time when I attempt to draw, thinking that it's "cringe" or I should draw something else with more deeper meaning into it, not just shippy stuff.. so I get very hesitant posting said art online or even starting the sketch (i haven't drawn 95% of my written ideas for nearly a year ;_; pain lol) since a few of my friends might see and question it lmao but deep down i really want to draw them ofc! i'm just very scared with what others think, but I do want to show myself more through my art and what I really like to draw.. Have you had a similar feeling of embarassment too c? I'm sorry if this got too long, I don't rly have any artist friends to talk to this about :')) I'm just so amazed at how you're able to fight the fear and just draw what you want in the end ^-^ I hope I can be like that too with myself and art, there are rare times where I just say f*ck it and post it anyway but 99% of the time is just me overthinking on whether it's cringe or not but I want to be cringe so bad so I can just be free and draw whatever the heck I want! ahh so many conflicting feelings ;_; i hope you get what I mean, thank you again for responding to my previous asks with the colors and numerous questions! I might never show it but actually I relate to you so hard, it's not once or twice that I keep overthinking if my art is too self-indulgent and cringe, everytime I'm about to post my art I'm one click away to post it but I always have this nagging worry of people judging my art (even tho there's nothing wrong with it, for god's sake!!!) so I just spend another 30 minutes worrying about it until I close my eyes, flick my finger quickly, and close the tab.
And oh god in heaven put a curse on meme culture for this because there was this one instance when someone made a corny meme out of my art (that's not even a funny drawing) and dared to send it to me, I know it's only one person but it's enough to crush my confidence in drawing and posting shippy/emotional art.

Whenever I draw my favorite characters looking all seductive and cool I always worry people would think it's cringe, whenever I draw characters kissing I always worry people would think I'm weird, but then I remember about the other artists I like who post (their own) self-indulgent stuff and they make me joyous, I want people to feel the same way about my art when I post my own self-indulgent art too, so I guess that's what keeps me doing what I do today 😂
My 2023 resolution is just to stop giving a single damn about what people think of my art, if they think it's cringe then so be it, I can't control the mind of people, at least the cringe art gives me the happy brain chemicals and that's what truly matters 😊

No wonder he married a cook, wonder if in college everytime Tang was mega stressed about finals or a big deadline coming up (the latter could be true later when he's out of college and had a job too) if pigsy, assuming he had the time, would just make a meal for him. They probably wouldn't be able to spend much time together in that situation so making him something when he knows Tang is stressed seems like a realistic thing for Pigsy to do in order to subtly show he's there for support when need be. Tang pays that kindness forward by actually paying his tab for once coughs

(Can't find a way to make it a gif) Tang: so ""relaxed"" in his current situation that he is shaking hard enough to vibrate in place, coupled with the look of completely calm and collected and ""coolness"". (S4)
Does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night chan- gets shot
ACTUALLY THo S4 fleshed him out as a character so much, especially when we compare him to how he started all the way back in S1. Beforehand in earlier seasons everything was mostly stable for him. Same places, same people, consistent comfort, it gave him some sense of security that could have made his "calm and relaxed" demeanor viable back then. But now that everythings been thrown up and ruined by powers out of Tang's control, his bubble of safety no longer stands. We begin to see it in season 3 with lady bone demon's attacks + macaque's continued interference. Tang seems a lot more on edge near the latter half of season 3 then he had been all of the rest of the show and there's definitely WAY more panic present as one bad thing after another unfolds, notably when he is quite literally moved to tears as he's forced to forge the samadhi fire. It does kind of consistently crop up during other prior conflicts too but much more mildly and on a more temporary scale. Now, seemingly not long after the lbd incident as mk evidently still hasn't pushed past lbd all that well, his entire framework of stability is practically smashed into pieces. He's stuck in a scroll, he loses track of all of his friends for a while, there is no comfortable safe space for him anymore(a book can probably only realistically tell you so much about a setting, probably not enough to evoke the same familiarity that his house or pigsy's shop does), he literally almost gets eaten, there's ANOTHER massively powerful divine being threatening the safety of his loved ones along with his own, and on top of it all he can't get his powers (which are evidently in DIRE need right now) to work half the time. He had built a dependency on the routine of mundane life beforehand and S4 completely shatters that routine and subsequent stability. It's no wonder why we begin to see him crack, it make sense why we're just now seeing the actual depths of his lack of confidence and his anxiety. This has always been a problem more likely than not, he was able to cope before, or at least hide it, but he can't now. His inability to use his powers properly inevitably worsens the problem. He needs to use his powers but he cant. He needs to be useful, he has to be, but he just can't no matter how long or how hard he tries. Every odd is against him, it's getting to him and it shows. I love how lmk doesn't try to hero-speech it's way out of every character's doubts. I love how they let him break down several times throughout season 4, I love how they let him show emotional weakness not as a plot obstacle that can be ✨✨completely overcome with the power of believing in yourself!! And friends!!! And flashy magic!!! Yayyyyy!!!✨✨ but as a fundamental part of Tang that he just has to work around and deal with it. They obviously can't get too in depth into it (and probably never will) because a. This is a kid show made by Lego, and b. Because he's, y'know, not the main character, but the attention they did bring to it is nice.
I have. Accidently written a paragraph. Oops. uhhhh tldr: They did a good job portraying Tang's internal struggles through S4 while not invalidating his character and behavior from previous seasons. When you kick the rug out from someone's feet and then throw them off a 400ft cliff into a pit full of spikes they're going to be at least a little bit terrified out of their mind and are probably going to understandably show weakness somewhere along the way, I'm glad Lego takes a moment to explore that with Tang at least a little bit.

Mentioned this earlier on twt but the death grip he maintains on his staff when he gets really scared is a nice touch. He has a history throughout all 4 seasons of latching onto objects or people when he's distressed, a small but fun character detail!

In line with what I ranted on about for an entire essay earlier- explicit mention of a meltdown! It's quick and short but the fact that they called it a meltdown at all is impressive, this is the first time I can remember a show calling one as such. A meltdown in response to a seeming extended lack of security and a disconnect between Tang and what's going on around him is realistic too, I think at least. The scene right after this when the gang (mostly sandy) does their best to bring Tang back down to earth for a moment was nice, they're such a supportive friend group I love this little found family

Thank you for the ask @superblysubpar I’m coming in slow AF with my answer. Sorry about that babes. Been a helluva week. This ask made me smile though-
As far as Pencil’s nickname is concerned, I can tell you that it comes from a very innocent and a very sweet place; I simply believe that they first met/ knew of each other/ were in each others orbit/ in one class back in middle school.
Eddie being the scrungly non conformist metal baby that he was back then, probably didn’t care to come equipped for class, and then he gets sat behind this cool girl in scruffy jeans and too big plaid and sneakers, always humming cool songs and sending a withering glare at the empty headed preppy kids en route to high school stardom, when they picked on anyone (him mostly)
He doesn’t know why he does it. Maybe he’s looking for an olive branch, but either way he asks this cool girl in front of him, on the first day of class if he can borrow or steal a Pencil.
And she smiles, and says sure and hands him one. No problem.
Every class she smiles when he lopes in late and slips behind her. Every time he asks for one despite having several in his bag he plays dumb, just because of the rush of talking to her. Better than any sugar rush or sabbath riff.
He wants to approach her outside class, but he constantly sees her with this popular girl glued to her side as she rambles on about boys. He scuffs his converse and lets his courage shrink. Maybe pulls clownish stunts to see her laugh. And it all goes into distant orbit of being aware of each other by the time high school comes around. Aware but distanced.
Then, one fateful night, years and years and many grades later, he’s just done a deal with an asshole jock in the woods at Kyle whatshisnames party, and when he steps back onto the green green lawn, to scurry along home, imagine his shock when he finds that same girl, primped and partied up in a poppy outfit-
Pretty as ever too. So so pretty.
He’s never forgotten Pencil girl. Pencils. the nickname snapped out his mouth then with fervour and a toothy grin. Pencils. Always holding one in class. Doodling away. Drawing the shape and shading on hands or pill bugs or flowers and weird dogs and buildings and streets on the margins of her books or legal pads. The artist through and through.
Wants to study it one day, she said. Draw and draw til her fingers drop off. Draw comics and stage sets and paintings-
He’s never forgotten her small acts of kindness where everyone else had slung venom. Passed him answers on little torn scraps of paper for the pop quiz. Lend him pencils when he needed them. Or an eraser. Or stifled a laugh when he said something funny to frustrate the teacher.
She’s sat there, on this lawn chair, drunk probably, and there’s evidence of tears under her eyes and she’s just small and all alone, and he just, he can’t have that. He can’t leave it like that.
This time Eddie puffs his chest up and grins, eyes dancing bright, this time, the chance seems way too good to let slip through his fingers.
He can’t look away now he’s seen her. This is fate. It’s destiny even. If this shit show called life could ever hand him something kind and good, then here it is baby. Lit up in flashing gold tulip bulb lights like a goddamned broadway theatre.
Don’t miss this one again, kid. Hope don’t come knocking twice.
He cracks his knuckles. He boldly goes to see if she remembers him.

man i need to play more bg3. but this got way too long so here's the moirared!
Do they have similar goals? If they clash, how do they deal? I think their goals end up being fairly similar--I tend to describe them as two Weird Academics, so they're generally happy to support each other up to a point. i think moira finds the concept of the worldwalkers fascinating but also incredibly risky, so she'll help detangle power cables when Red wants to put together a new machine but doesn't have a problem pointing out the gaps in his reasoning. on the flip side, I think red does value moira's compassion and will gladly listen to her explain how antinausea potions were originally synthesized from lizard venom, but her self-sacrificing instincts in their particular line of work are a source of worry for him, and it's tricky to talk her down from expending so much of her time and energy because Healing/self-worth issues have basically trained her to operate that way.
Is there anything they associate with each other?

moira->red: once or twice across a barroom, she heard a laugh that was almost his. she draws such perfect chalk circles because of how much practice she had constructing them around their midnight experiments. he was the first person to recommend her favorite playwright. (she kept skipping shows of his favorites, and regrets forgetting how funny they were.) the book in chandry's shop seemed like something he might have liked. if she'd ever seen the sea, it would be a couple of shades away from his eyes. once on the road, maybe a week after she'd left for good, someone tugged on her braid the way he occasionally did and she hacked the entire thing off that evening.
red->moira: she prefers lavender soap for her hair. recipes for tonics and elixirs tended to read themselves in her voice. sometimes he finds her in the kitchen when he goes to scrounge up midnight snacks. (he didn't realize he looked forward to it until she was away on mission.) half the delight in a new discovery is explaining it to her over dessert. in their fifth year, she gave him a bookmark she made that would cling to the point in the page where you left off.
Their ways of expressing their love. lena's probably got an ask for things red does, but (1) moira feeds people and will bring snacks down if red is lost in the research sauce lmao (2) will happily donate time to the parts of research that don't require an advanced degree (rubber ducking, flagging stuff from the vaults that looks useful, etc.) (3) forehead. kisses. (4) in an established relationship, they send a letter home at least once a week so that the other person is guaranteed to receive them at some point. in the flirting stage they passed a lot of notes LMAO (5) giving the other one space to just Be A Person. IMO red is actually really well-suited to understand how heavy being The Hero of Haven can be, since he's done that as archmage. it helps that both of them knew the other person before they had a dramatic title to carry, so there's already a trust that they'll be forgiven for being less than perfect.
How does their love change as they get older? okay i can never write short about this but TLDR: they're not just exes. they were close friends whose miscommunication over their breakup drove a narrow but deep wedge between them that persists even in the present, and i think about that constantly. i think fundamentally the circle berakup came down towards red's thoughtlessness vs moira's passivity, plus her growing guilt/fears over keeping a large secret that potentially endangered anyone she gets close to. so things are better in game time! it's kind of interesting how time has reversed which one of them is more careful vs more carefree--red getting burned means he intends to make absolutely certain they're on the same page this time, moira getting forgiveness (and clarity) about the words of power removes a lot of her hesitations. there's a deliberateness and an openness that they hadn't quite figured out the first time. i think the biggest test for them actually comes postgame when it becomes clear just how fucking fragile moira has become due to the events of the game. and it's terrifying for her to be that vulnerable around him, but even admitting she was hurting would have been unfathomable to her when they were seventeen. (yes, this is another fic. no, i don't have enough information to finish it.) i'm also actually super curious to see if red's personal arc goes where i think it will (somewhat along the same lines of the major choice in riel's second day off, if that makes sense) because i think that's going to be a fascinating conversation for them. one of the ongoing jokes with some of my fics is that they add +10 to the redharden stat LMAO by the time we hit The Future in Take Your Daughter To Work Day, there's a point of contention around how much moira's tried to put hero of haven stuff behind her--on the one hand, it was probably the most painful period of her life by a long shot, but at the same time it's difficult to pretend it didn't happen, especially given that one of their kids joins the shepherds. they go back and forth on how much information it's right for them to have. but honestly i don't think it affects how much they love each other. sometimes i think about how much they care about each other and want to lie on the floor.
