Proboscis monkeys (also called bekantans) sitting on a sign warning people to be quiet and respect them. They are known to be shy and bothered by loud noises.
Original caption: Stephanie and Paen singing for Paen’s birthday 🎉 Paen is one of only two gibbons at the sanctuary who intentionally calls while people are talking (the other is Maynard). We’re not sure why they do this. Paen’s voice is naturally mournful, but her body language here is calm (wandering gaze, relaxed face, sitting with arms at rest). We are usually pretty quiet around the gibbons and leave the singing to them!
some monkey studies I did back in august 2022 for my college art portfolio (didnt get accepted but im honestly relieved)
ill start posting ch 5 this weekend dw just trying to stall while i sketch ch 6
A baby proboscis monkey clinging to its mother. They are the mascot animal for South Kalimantan, but are critically endangered. This baby born at the Proboscis Monkey Research Station represents hope for the species as sanctuaries and conservation initiatives work to increase populations in their native range.
