(besides bard) what's one class you can never take too serious? Mine is wizard
specifically necromancers.
All i can ever see is them raising the dead just to do the thriller dance
Hmm that's a hard one. Since I usually host games I end up playing practically every class at one point.
I kinda can't take sorcerers seriously. Magical nepo babies the lot of them. Grandad was special friends with an eldritch abomination or talking tree spirit and boom you've got powers.
They front as masters of raw arcane energy but all it takes is a single forehead flick to knock them the heck out

Oooooo...I like this!
JeromyTV does something like this on SpellShots but since my character has amnesia we learn a little bit more about Key's past whenever they're near death (which ends up being quite a bit)!

Foreshadowing. It's always more fun/ tense/ interesting/ scary when the players don't know what's coming.

I think one of the most impressive things about Small Saga for me is how well it balances tone. Like, looking at the plot as a whole and the kind of subjects it deals with, it's not a lighthearted game. You're waging a bloody war of revenge on the world and you kill plenty of people in the process.
But it never feels like it goes too far. It shows a lot of care in which foes you kill vs. which ones you beat up and scare off. I kept worrying about it at the beginning, cause you fight a few enemies that are just, like. A human's pet. And I kept feeling like "oh no I really hope I don't kill them that'd make me so sad" but it never happened. And through the whole game, I never saw the results of a fight and went "aw man that sucks." The game doesn't always give characters the fate they most deserve. Sometimes good people die and bad people live. But it always makes sense and feels appropriate.
And it's also a game full of goofy jokes and silly characters. One of the villains is a fascist dictator squirrel who vapes. At one point you find mouse porn on a bookcase and the characters discuss who they're into. You rescue a pigeon from a trash can. And it's a game full of hope, too. It's a game about making things better and not just letting things that suck keep on sucking.
In the end it left me feeling really happy.

fun dm tip
if your players roll a perception check and ask "is there a [insert specific thing that I definitely didn't design but go off queen] nearby"
say

So you know how Naturespeak is usually like a spell?
In my WIP it’s basically just a skill. It’s no different from learning a different language. The downside is that different animals have different languages, and they might have differing dialects.
But you won’t really be able to really tell someone is naturespeaking, they’ll literally just talk to an animal and seem to be holding a normal conversation.
Frankly, it’s pretty hilarious to imagine my characters having goofy banter with the monsters trying to attack them.

Question about Frank! What is his fighting style? I know you mentioned he does hand on hand, but does he do any specific form of martial arts?? Or is it just kind of the basic, punching, kicking, ect. Also, does he have some form of magic, or is he basically like Howdy? (I'm just imagining they all play like.. actual table top DnD and Frank is getting irritated because his rolls are garbage-)
i'm not nearly well versed enough in martial arts to name styles or blend them - though i feel a "i need to know everything i can about this" fixation creeping up... so i might be able to provide a better answer later!
but for now lets just say he's adapted his own stylized form, blended from his childhood training, what he learns on the streets, and what he picks up on his travels / figures out himself. i imagine it would be an efficient, ruthless, and elegant personal style of combat
Frank has no magic! if he rolled for it he'd somehow get a 0! he and Howdy are the only magicless maidens of the group

Well Educated Players...
Many years ago, I remember the discussion, "Humans aren't top of the food chain, vampires are... but what preys on vampires?"
