Something was different. That much was obvious. Even in her small doggy mind which was primarily occupied with rocks and treats and sticks, Narla could tell that something wasn’t quite right with her mums.

She was used to them not being together all the time as she had lived in this funny little country where people spoke with harsh tones and always seemed to need to wee, and Keira was not there for the majority of the time, but this felt different. They felt different.

They didn’t talk to each other very much, not like they used to, and often those conversations were louder and less pleasant than those in the past. The three of them hadn’t cuddled together in several weeks either, and Narla now had to choose which room she wanted to sleep in. Usually, she had opted for whoever looked sadder.

And then they moved to Barcelona. Lucy went first and Narla went with her, but this time when Keira followed, she got her own house. Now they spent no time together - the only brief moments they were a trio again was when Lucy handed Narla over to Keira to look after her for a short while.

But despite the odd things that were happening with her mums, Narla liked Barcelona. It was warm, had beaches, friendly people, and nice rocks. It did a great deal to cheer up both of her mums, and Narla supposed that was the only thing she could ever really hope for.

It was a few months after the move to Spain when the Westie started to notice that Lucy seemed happier, brighter even. Previously she had wandered around with a slouch and a permanent worry line between her brows, but nowadays she walked with a pep in her step and was constantly grinning.

And she was also attached to that strange black box that she carried everywhere. It had weird lights and made loud sounds, and often Lucy would shove it into Narla’s face before showing her a mini version of herself which was mildly terrifying. More often than not, Narla would saunter into Lucy’s bedroom and find her owner tucked under the covers with that glowing box in her hand and smiling giddily, fingers tap tapping at the screen.

Narla wasn’t sure what had changed her mum’s demeanour so much, but she much preferred this oddly joyful Lucy to the mopey one that had existed only months ago.

She didn’t have to wait long to find out the cause, however, as it only took a few weeks before the English woman was curling up on her bed with her pup and spilling it all.

“I’ve met someone, and I think she might be the one.”

Narla blinked. She had heard of ‘the one’ before. Her other mum Keira had murmured it to her recently when speaking about her new partner, Laura, and now Lucy was too. She still didn’t know what it meant, but she assumed that it was something like a dog’s mate. It clearly meant that the person was special to them, so Narla let out a little supportive bark in response.

“She’s pretty, and she’s Spanish, and oh! She’s everything, Narla,” Lucy gushed, excitedly waving her arms around in the air as she spoke.

“She’s in England right now, playing in Manchester, can you believe it?” Lucy continued, face almost dreamy as she spoke about her new mystery girl. “The wrong side of it, but it’s funny how we played against each other and I didn’t even notice her until now.”

The dog hadn’t seen her mum like this before. So smitten. Lucy had been happy with Keira, at least until the end, but this teenagerlike giddiness was something different altogether. Maybe it was because it was new, but Narla already felt more cheerful at the sight of Lucy being so happy about something.

“I can’t wait for you to meet her. I know you will love her.” The ‘like I do’ remained unspoken, as Lucy felt that it was too early to admit something like that, even to her dog, but Narla looked at her knowingly after those words.

“I’m happy,” Lucy whispered into the air, and then was silent. Narla took that as a sign to burrow into Lucy’s chest and fall asleep, dreaming of sticks, and rocks, and a faceless woman who made her human smile brighter than she ever had before.

A couple more weeks had passed until there was someone new around the house, Narla had noticed. Ona. That was her name. She spoke in a deep accented tone, her English in that familiar accent that the Westie had gotten accustomed to over the past few months or so. She always gave Narla a friendly cuddle when she saw her - it turns out Spaniards were super affectionate with animals too - and would occasionally slip her a treat that the dog would eagerly snap up.

At first, it was merely a few visits, Ona curling up with Lucy and Narla on the couch and scratching behind the dog’s ears in a certain way that only a select few knew how to do. That was impressive, Narla thought, and so she opted to cuddle up with Ona whenever she came around. 

Sometimes her mum and Ona would do that weird human thing where they pressed their faces together and like… licked? Naturally, Narla wanted to get in with the fun, so she would clamber on one of their laps and leave her own lick up the sides of one of their faces, leading to them to break apart and burst into giggles. She didn’t really know what was so funny, but her favourite person being happy meant that she was happy too.

Then there was a brief bit of time where none of them were around, Narla having been carted off to her grandparent’s house, and she only saw her mums in photos or videos from another one of those little black boxes.

However once that strange period of time ended and Narla was safely back home, Ona was there almost every day, popping in after Lucy came home from training, humming in the kitchen in the morning, walking in step with the English woman while she took Narla on her daily walk.

Then suddenly the Westie was spending time with the Spanish woman alone. Narla used to go to Keira’s when Lucy was away, but soon she was left alone at home with Ona, who always gave her extra snacks and would press her finger to her lips in a shushing motion every time she did. Lucy wasn’t super stingy with snacks per se, but as an athlete, she was careful with diets and knew all too well what health problems could occur if an animal got too overweight. Ona on the other hand loved to spoil her animals, and would regularly dole out treats. Plus it wasn’t like Lucy didn’t know, as Narla had spotted her leaning against the door frame and smiling fondly as Ona ‘secretly’ placed a dog treat on the ground for her to devour.

“I hope you know that I love your mum very much. And I want to tell her that very soon,” Ona spoke out of the blue one day as she stroked Narla’s fur. Lucy had a day of interviews lined up and had figured that it would be nice if her pup had some company - especially after the two away games they had in the past week or two.

“I’m very fond of you too, perrita,” she added. “Listen, I’ve been researching and would you maybe want to learn a trick? In Spanish?”

 Narla wasn’t really one for tricks and didn’t really like being told what to do too much, but the hope etched on Ona’s face made her relent, and she hopped down off the couch and looked up at the Spanish woman in preparation.

“I’ll go get the treats, be right back,” Ona said, jumping to her feet and borderline sliding across the hardwood floors towards the kitchen. Narla then heard a clatter followed by a muffled ‘mierda!’, and she took a few cautious steps towards the direction of the noise but before she could investigate any further, Ona popped back around the corner.

They settled next to the coffee table, and Ona folded her legs under her while Narla sat politely awaiting instruction.

“Okay, so you’re very famous, so I thought maybe you could use this when you meet your fans.” With that, Ona held out her hand palm up. Narla stared at her hand, confused and looked back up at the Spanish woman’s face who was looking back at her in expectation. She leaned forward and sniffed it, and Ona still smelt the same, so she cautiously licked her hand. Still, the Spaniard remained silent with her hand out.

Finally after a few minutes, Narla placed her paw on top of Ona’s hand and was immediately showered with praise and handed a treat. Then Ona once again held out her palm, and Narla placed her paw on top again, getting another treat for her efforts.

They did it a few more times, Ona extending the duration of time between Narla’s paw resting on her palm and giving her the treat, just to make sure that the Westie knew what she needed to do.

“We’re going to introduce a word now, okay?”

This time, when Ona extended her hand, she said ‘hola’, and waited for Narla to place her paw in her hand before praising her and giving her a treat. They went over this step for a wee while, it being slightly more difficult than before, but soon Narla was doing it consistently every time Ona said ‘hola’.

By the time Lucy came home, Ona was practically bouncing off the walls in excitement, elated that Narla had been bright enough to pick up the trick in only a day.

‘Hola, mi vida,” Lucy said tiredly as she walked into Ona’s outstretched arms, burrowing her head into the juncture of the Spaniard's neck. Narla raised her paw slightly at the familiar word but placed it down again as she regarded the lack of a hand in front of her.

“Narla and I have something to show you!” Ona exclaimed, grabbing Lucy’s hand and dragging her in the direction of her dog. “Now I want you to offer her your hand and greet her in Spanish, Entiendes?”

Narla watched as Lucy held her hand up to her, and then the English woman spoke.

“Bon dia?”

“Lucy! Not the right greeting. Come on,” 

“Okay, okay. Hola?”

Hearing that word, Narla reached out her paw to touch Lucy’s hand and the fullback’s jaw dropped open as she softly shook her paw up and down. She turned to her girlfriend in awe, Ona grinning at her excitedly.

“Did you teach her to do this?” Lucy asked, and when the younger woman nodded at her, she gathered her in her arms and twirled them both around, Ona giggling at the action.

“I love you,” Lucy whispered, the statement only loud enough for Ona and Narla to hear. Narla’s ears pricked up at that, and she knew that this was a major deal. A soft expression was now written on Ona’s face, and soon her eyes were wet with tears as she pressed several kisses to Lucy’s lips, all while echoing the words back to her.

While Narla thought this whole display was nice, she kind of wanted her treat now, so she barked once to get their attention. Ona broke away from Lucy’s embrace and knelt down, pulling a treat out of her pocket. “Oh! Lo siento, Narla. Here’s a biscuit.”

“You spoil her rotten, you know that?”

“Only the best for your dog,” came the response, and if Narla wasn’t so preoccupied with her treat, then she would have seen her human wrap Ona up in another kiss.

Life with Ona was good, Narla thought, until that puppy came along. Ona’s energetic puppy named Coco. Coco loved Narla, and did Narla love him back? She wasn’t too sure. She definitely loved Ona, that much was obvious. The Spaniard might even edge Lucy out in terms of her favourite person if she continued to spoil her and scratch her head like she did, but unfortunately, Ona came with Coco, a small shaggy, black-and-white dog who loved to annoy her and slobber all over her precious rocks.

She had been rudely awoken from one of her well-earned naps one day by a series of high-pitched barks before a small weight had barrelled into her. A small excitable dog was the culprit, and she did her best to glare at Ona and Lucy who were looking on in amusement.

“This is Coco. Narla, meet Coco. He and Ona are going to be living with us from now on,” Lucy spoke, kissing the side of Ona’s head before grinning down at her dog.

Narla growled a little as Coco’s clumsy tail hit her in the face, and Lucy narrowed her eyes and ordered her to play nice. Internally she humphed in annoyance, but reluctantly she turned back to the puppy and scooched over so he could cuddle up with her. Just this once.

Many days, weeks, and months, passed and Narla and Lucy fell into a routine with Ona and Coco. They seemed to fit into their lives flawlessly, and soon it was as if they had always been there. Narla still saw Keira, of course, but not as much as she used to. She had been primarily Lucy’s dog, in the first place, but she still did miss her other mum sometimes.

The air was lighter in this apartment, Narla had noticed. Ona and Coco just seemed to feel like sunshine. And maybe it was because they were in sunny Barcelona not freezing England, but even Lucy’s whole demeanour had morphed into something brighter.

Ona and Lucy fought just like any other couple, and Narla would go curl up in a ball under the bed when they did - flashbacks from those final months with Keira still lingering in her mind. But it would blow over rather quickly, and her mum and her new mum (?), were always back to being sickeningly sweet in no time.

One night the two women arrived home after having dinner together, and Narla greeted them excitedly at the door and wagged her tail as Lucy scooped her up, Ona pressing kisses to the dog’s head. Coco stayed lying on his little bed, snoozing away, and Narla mentally rolled her eyes at his behaviour. Their humans were home, which was incredibly exciting, but clearly, he valued his nap much more.

They headed towards the lounge, and Ona said something about having a shower before heading away, and soon they could hear the water in the bathroom start to run.

Lucy collapsed on the couch, Narla still in her arms, and she let out a content sigh. A few moments passed.

“I love her, you know?”

Narla did know. Ona had been in their lives for almost three years now, and not a day went by where her mum didn’t show her love for the other woman. In fact, Ona was now one of her mums, Narla decided.

“You can’t tell anyone this, Narla,” Lucy whispered, expression serious and her gaze boring into her dog’s. If the Westie could roll her eyes she would have, she was an animal, who was she going to tell? but even so, she let out a little bark to urge her human to continue.

“I’m going to ask Ona to marry me.” With those words, the English fullback pulled a box out of her pants pocket and popped it open, a shiny diamond ring nestled delicately inside.

Narla always heard that humans gave each other rocks when they loved each other, and she understood completely. She loved rocks and collecting them, and while the ones that humans exchanged were much shiner than the ones she brought home, she still treasured her own much like they did.

“I know you don’t really understand the concept of marriage, but this is a big deal. This means I want Ona and Coco in our lives forever,” Lucy said earnestly, glancing at the ring she held in her hand and back at her dog. “Are you okay with that?”

Narla was more than okay. As much as the smaller dog annoyed her sometimes, she couldn’t help but be a bit fond of him. Ona was also positively wonderful, and Narla wouldn’t mind getting sneaky snacks forever. Not to mention she loved how much joy the Spanish woman had brought into their lives. To show her agreement, she nuzzled Lucy’s hand that was holding the ring box and let out a soft bark as she watched her owner’s face split into a grin.

“I knew you would approve, my best girl.”

Footsteps suddenly echoed in the hall and Lucy hurriedly snapped the box shut and stuffed it in her pants. Mere seconds later, Ona strode into the room and threw herself into Lucy’s side, fingers coming to scratch the top of Narla’s head.

“Your turn to have a shower,” the Spanish woman spoke, turning to Lucy who was looking at her absolutely besotted.

“Wanna come with me?”

“I just had one,” Ona laughed as Lucy tugged her up from the couch and into her arms.

“Can never be too clean,” came the smirked response and soon Lucy whisked her away back down the hall, Ona waving her hand as a goodbye to the Westie who remained on the couch. If Narla could smile, she would have.

A few days later, Lucy had set up a special dinner for herself and her girlfriend on their balcony. She had sent Ona off to spend the entire day with Aitana, and while she was away, the older woman had dragged out a small table and adorned it with a white tablecloth, a bouquet of roses, and a singular candle. She had strung out string lights along the railings to allow a soft golden glow to wash over everything and hid her speaker behind a pot plant that played Spanish love songs at a low volume.

Narla herself was just sitting in the corner gnawing on a toy and occasionally glancing up to watch as Lucy frantically ran to and fro. After a few hours of the English fullback slaving away in the kitchen, the delicious smell of paella soon filled the air, and Narla perked up at that. Whenever that dish was made in their home, she was always given at least one piece of shrimp.

By now Lucy had put the finishing touches on the balcony and quickly got changed into her outfit for the night - cream dress pants, a white no-sleeved shirt, and a matching cream blazer. 

She ventured out to see Narla when she got the text from Ona that she was on her way home, and plucked her dog up, much to the Westie’s chagrin.

“Tonight’s the night, Narls. I’m gonna propose.”

Narla could hear the nerves in her mum’s voice, and so she licked her face to help soothe her worry. The dog knew that Ona loved her mum, and there was no way that the Spaniard would ever not accept Lucy’s shiny rock. But humans were strange and got into their heads about stuff, so all Narla could do was let Lucy hug her tight until the door to the apartment opened and Ona arrived home.

The Spanish woman had gotten ready for the date at Aitana’s, and Lucy was speechless as she took in the skintight white cocktail dress Ona was wearing. The younger woman did a twirl to show off her outfit and blushed prettily as Lucy gathered her into her arms to drop a kiss on her awaiting lips.

“The most beautiful woman on the planet,” the older woman breathed, and kissed away any objections her lover had to that comment.

“This way, baby,” Lucy murmured fondly as she laced her fingers with her girlfriend’s and led her over to the balcony. Ona gasped at the sight of the setup and the homemade paella on the table, and Lucy pulled out a chair for her to sit on.

Dinner was positively a dream, and Narla could feel the happiness radiating from both women as she observed them from her spot on the ground. After a few hours they were drunk on the wine and each other, but Lucy had begun to nervously wobble her leg under the table as she gathered up the courage to ask Ona the one life-changing question she so desperately wanted to ask.

The Spanish woman was just coming down from a fit of giggles at some story Lucy had told, and as the English woman drank in the way her cheeks dimpled as she smiled, she knew she had to do it immediately. 

“Ona I… I’ve never been super good with words so if this comes out as a jumbled mess, I’m sorry.”

Ona looked slightly confused at her words, but nodded slightly in encouragement. Lucy sucked in a deep breath before continuing.

“Ever since you walked your way into my life with that smile of yours during Stan’s wedding, I think you’ve held a piece of my heart. It’s funny how life happens, you know? We knew each other long before that, but we didn’t know each other. Not really. And yet you were already so intertwined in my life because you were friends with my friends and I was living in your home city and playing with your national teammates, and it’s like some invisible string was tying us together just waiting for us to finally notice each other.”

Lucy was crying a little now, emotional as she gazed up at the woman she adored so much. “Oh Ona, I don’t think there’s any other universe where I don’t fall head over heels in love with you. None. It’s just not possible.”

As she said those words, Lucy slowly knelt to the ground in front of Ona, and the younger woman gasped and pressed a hand to her mouth as she registered what was happening.

“Hell, even my dog loves you more than she loves me! I don’t think I could ever picture my life without you and Coco in it, and I don’t ever want to either. You’re my best friend, Ona, and I would be so, so happy to have you both in my life - to be mine - forever. So.. et casaràs amb mi, amor meu?” With that, Lucy pulled the ring box out of her pocket and popped the lid, the diamond sparkling in the setting sunlight.

“Sí, yes, of course, I will marry you amor!” Ona sobbed as she yanked Lucy up from her knees and twined her arms around her neck before kissing her passionately, pouring every ounce of emotion into the action.

“I love you, I love you, I love you,” Lucy whispered into Ona’s hair as they embraced, body tingling at how surreal this all felt. She was marrying the love of her life. Narla watched on from her spot in the corner and immediately knew what she had to do.

Bounding away into the house, Narla ran to her own bed and scavenged around until she found her favourite rock - the one she barely let anyone touch - and picked it up in her mouth before hurriedly making her way back to her humans. Lucy and Ona were still wrapped up in each other, laughing, pressing their faces together, and occasionally Lucy would twirl the Spaniard around. Narla stood waiting for them to notice her, but when they didn’t, she ran over and nudged Ona’s leg with her nose.

The Spanish woman tore her eyes off Lucy as she felt the touch, and looked at the small dog who was standing at their feet. Narla placed her rock on the ground in front of her, and politely sat, wagging her tail. 

“Is she..?” Ona trailed off as she stared at the Westie in front of her, the rock lying like an offering.

“I think she’s proposing to you too. I mean look at the size of that rock,” Lucy laughed, burying her face into the other fullback’s neck as she realised what her dog was doing.

“Aw, Narla! I would be honoured,” Ona grinned, bending down to gently take the rock that Narla had presented to her and brought the dog into her arms. Lucy’s own arms were soon around the both of them and Narla snuggled into their chests, content to be with her humans.

“My girls,” the English woman whispered, happy tears almost threatening to spill again.

“Mi chicas,” Ona echoed, pressing a kiss to her fianceé’s lips (déu meu, they were going to be married), and letting out an elated giggle.

A series of sharp barks rang through the air, interrupting the moment, and all three looked down to see Coco jumping and yelping at them. Lucy let out another chuckle - she couldn’t seem to stop smiling lately - and brought him into their embrace.

“And my boy, as well,” Lucy added, pecking Coco’s scraggly head. All of them stood there for a short while, just basking in their little domestic bubble and enjoying the moment as the sun set behind them. Life was good.

Later that night after Lucy had banished her from the bedroom, Narla nestled into her own bed, happy at how successful the day had gone. Ona and Lucy were both impossibly happy, that much was evident as she had taken in their shiny eyes and the way they had been wrapped around each other for most of the night.

Her musings were interrupted as quick feet came rushing in her direction and came to a grinding halt in front of her.

Coco dropped a small pebble in front of her and looked at her with bright eyes, and Narla sighed. She supposed she would let him cuddle with her, just for tonight.

lesbian movies I've seen so far (review based on my tastes)

I'm going to give my opinion of the lesbian movies I've seen so far and I'm going to give them a score from 1 to 5 stars :3 it may contain some spoilers

Bound(1996)

For the year this movie was made, I was actually surprised by the END of it(fuck the obsession with killing the protagonist). I didn’t really have much faith in it by how it stars, but man, I was so surprised, I loved it, be gay do crime. ★★★★☆

Gia(1998)

God, this movie is my new roman empire, I didn’t know about Gia’s story, but the ending of the movie DESTROYED ME. the scene where shes talking with Linda and she says: now we have all the time in the world, I was so moved by it, I loved it. It’s currently one of my favorite movies.★★★★★

Lost and delirious(2001)

ugh shakespearean shit, this movie touches more than one of us when it comes to the experience of liking girls. I liked it but I felt like there was a lot of wasted potential that could’ve made it great, tbh i just wanted Paulie to be happy; the fact the Piper Perabo is in it helps the score too. ★★★☆☆

D.E.B.S.(2004)

ITS THE BEST FUCKING MOVIE IN THE WORLD, GOD. I actually hated this movie before watching it ‘cause I thought it was some dumb comedy, but god, when I gave it a chance it BLEW ME AWAY. If you want to see some lesbian spies enemies to lovers shit watch debs.  ★★★★★

My summer of love(2004)

Personally, I HATED this movie kjj, I didn’t really get ANYTHING at all, like it felt like everything was just too rushed??? like when did they even fall in love lol? Gets points just for Emily Blunt. ★★☆☆☆

Imagine me & you(2005)

Piper Perabo again and Lena Heady THE WOMAN. This movie is ART, my fav movie, it’s beautiful, comfort movie af. The true don’t let your husband keep you from meeting your future wife. ★★★★★

Loving Annabelle(2006)

This movie was made for all of us who once liked a teacher or profesor. I liked it quite a lot, but I feel like seize it’s true potential. Personally, I choose to think that the alternative ending it’s the true one lol. ★★★☆☆

Bloomington(2010)

Again for us that like fantasizing about our teachers. I like this movie but again, I feel like they didn’t really make the most of it jskdja annoying af bitching about the same but yeah, it bothered me. Anyway, i liked the movie, and I didn’t like the ending at all,I felt bad for the poor teacher :c. ★★★☆☆

A perfect ending(2012)

I know a lot of people hate this movie and think it’s shit, but I personally love it lol. Idk I remember that when I watched it it got me super emotional and i liked it a lot, dont care what anyone says to me it’s a good movie. ★★★☆☆

First girl i loved(2016)

Im fond of this movie, it was one of the first ones I saw, the ending just made a me a bit frustrated, but I liked it, Brianna Hildebrand with a wig funny as hell. ★★★☆☆

Disobedience(2017)

Rachel Weisz and McAdams DAMN. Great movie, I liked it in all aspects. Although the ending wasn’t what I expected I still liked it. ★★★★★

Tell it to the bees(2018)

Mmm I think this movie is kinda meh, like it’s okay but I feel like it lacks something for me to like it, tho I didn’t get the ending, like I don’t understand the decisions each one took. ★★☆☆☆

Ammonite(2020)

Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan!!!! I liked it but I didn’t love it, I never got to understand if Mary hated or loved Charlotte. The ending got me frustrated!!! ★★★☆☆

Crush(2022)

The kind of movie you gotta watch after Gia, I liked it I thought it was silly, like very much teenage romcom sort of shit, like the Kissing Booth but for lesbians. ★★★☆☆

You can live forever(2022)

I think this is a great movie, interesting story, I wasn’t expecting the whole ending sequence, what Marike says to Jamie destroyed me, in my head theyre the young version of the Disobedience ones. ★★★★★

Booksmart(2019)

GREAT MOVIE, very entertaining and funny, I liked it quite a lot, it’s perfect to watch it with friends. Gigi is just like me fr best character ever. ★★★★★

Right now I've just really been dropping random cod thoughts and reposting a lot of artists content, but who knows maybe I'll start doing some Twitter exclusive stuff or thread fics or something (has no idea how thread fics work). Anyways on to the boy:

I'm using this as an opportunity to just talk about whatever comes to mind and the first thing I wanna start with are like some alternate ideas I had for Roach's family before I landed on the Sanderson dynamic that I have now:

Roach from a military family

Imagine how fun it would be if Roach was raised in a military family, especially if they still had that overprotective aspect to them. Like baby boy who was raised around the military so he's been intimately familiar with it

Maybe he had some different talent and his family wanted him to go down a different path and not go military like them

He says fuck that and joins the military and fucks around and ends up joining taskforce 141

Extra funny points if his family don't realize that he's on a specialized taskforce cause he was so nervous about telling them and they find out in dramatic fashion

Maybe he drops in to save them on a mission or something like 🤭 the drama of it all I love it

Also side note but I was thinking so hard about the Sanderson boys (Johnathan and Eddie) and I can't draw so I have to snatch some Face Claims for them so this is what I think Roach's older brothers look like:

Johnathan is played by Lee Pace don't test me this man is tall and probably acts as his own security at his bar and also is a goofball and idk Lee Pace is perfect (this should not detract from me also thinking that Lee Pace is a perfect fc for König)

Eddie to me has to look something like Luke Norris idk I feel like he needs a softer and more like nervous/panicky energy than Johnathan and this man fits don't test me don't test me

Also for anyone who is wondering: No, I still don't have a face claim for my Roach. In my mind he changes so much I see so many different artists versions of Roach in my brain at all times so choosing an actor for him is so hard. I have...thoughts, but idk that anyone would enjoy the thoughts that I have so we'll pretend I don't have them.

Listen y'all know Southern Roach is my bias but also also also have been falling in love more and more with the idea of Russian Roach. He would be so funnn like he works with Nik beforehand maybe he was undercover with the ultranationalists. I also enjoy the idea of him cursing Shepherd and/or Makarov out in Russian I think it would be fun.

However Southern Roach rains supreme I was thinking so hard about a ghostroachsoap au recently based loosely on the song "Farmer's Daughter" by Rodney Atkins. (Y'all let me know if you want the full au its really just farm au cuteness)

Thinking so hard of Roach just being beloved in his small town as this Golden Child precious little dude then he goes off to the military and finally let's that feral side come out a little. Imagine how funny it would be for Ghost and Soap to go home with Roach and see their boyfriend pu on this innocent act and listen to people describe him as this perfect little guy when they know for a fact that Roach is like borderline feral two steps away from being considered a wild animal.

"He's such a good boy, would never hurt a fly."

Ghost and Soap who watched Roach tear a man's throat out with his teeth last week:

Also taking the opportunity to say that we as a community need to start acknowledging hoe canonically skilled Roach is with weapons! Like this is a boy who had both Price and Soap cursing because they couldn't get any kills because he was killing them to fast. This is a boy who beat Ghost (his luitenant) on a rifle test by a wide margin and on the test that ghost beat him he only fell behind four points.

Roach canonical has several extremely brutal takedown moves that he can do, including the pickaxes and the little fucking kick thing he does to the one guy before stabbing him. Also he's like straight up flipping his guns and doing tricks with them and shit in his weapons inspections, Soap talks about how good he is with C4 and shit.

Like I think people see the like spots where he got into trouble and nearly died in the campaign and take that to mean that he's like not as good as Ghost and Soap and needed their help a lot but like honest to God all of the trouble he gets in to is less because he fucked up and more because the world seems to have it out for him.

The roof breaking out from under him, the ice cracking on him, explosions happen to rock his ass just as soon as he hits an open field. Like someone was trying to kill this little fuck and two outta the three times they failed.

And like its not like Roach doesn't help himself during these situations. Like when he fell yeah he had Soap guiding him but he was the one having the run and slide and do all that shit like no amount of Soap's guiding could have made that easy for him.

Also this boy almost falls off a cliff but is able to get himself back on track enough that he not only finishes climbing the cliff but then does a whole ass stealth mission basically invading a Russian military base on his own???

Roach is a very talented and skilled bug and we should all be patting him on the head for how cool he is.

Also I think its absolutely funny cause In my mind he's smaller than Soap and Ghost both like height and build wise (not small, just smaller than those two behemoths) and so when the trio of them are together people like tend to underestimate him meanwhile Ghost and Soap are like "Uh, no, no you uh hey dude no" because they know that Roach will gladly fuck people up.

I also love the idea of Roach appearing out of nowhere like a fucking cryptid. There is no talking behind Roach's back or keeping secrets he is everywhere at once and will appear out of thin air. Ghost and Soap have to like fully leave base if they want to plan a surprise for him and even then both of them have no trust that Roach won't somehow pop into existence next to them waahahhahaha

Out of all the Turtles, Raph being with a human feels weird, the other Turtles I’m fine with being with humans. Raph has always been known to date non human characters so this ship doesn’t look/sit right to me, and doesn’t feel like a relationship that would go anywhere.

Young Justice Ep 1 - 6 Review

I started watching Young Justice for the first time. Like I always heard about the show but I never actually watched it other than a few clips. I watched Justice League when I was little but I don't remember it that well and I'm getting a little tempted to watch it but first I'm gonna finish Young Justice. Tbh, I only actually started watching it cause of all the thirsty edits of Nightwing on TikTok. The animators knew what they were doing with him but he hasn't showed up yet so I'll be waiting patiently for him.

Episodes Review

So far the episodes are perfect as usual to any normal cartoon show. Nah but I actually miss the old cartoons like Ultimate Spiderman or the Avengers Assemble cartoons. I've always been obsessed with that style of animation. It's not too anime looking but also not too realistic. Just perfect. The plot and story line is also really good. I kinda regret not watching this as a child but then again, I always did rewatch the old cartoons I grew up watching.

Character Reviews:

Robin

I love his character. I've always loved him in the old Batman series (I gotta rewatch that too). Nah but I forgot he was so young. I thought he'd be 15 but he's 13 and Kid Flash is 15. Nah but he's so smart for a 13 year old. He knows how to hack shit and is literally a mini version of Batman. One thing I don't like is how he keeps wearing shades when he's not in his costume and there's nothing wrong with that but I wanna see his eyes. Like I know what he looks like but I still wanna see his eyes.

Kid Flash

I screamed when I saw him and Flash in the first episode. I literally love the CW Flash series so seeing them show up made me so happy. And I love how Wally is literally like a 15 year old. Sassy and playful. When I first saw him without the costume and mask, I freaked out cause he had freckles! He looks so adorable with freckles. I also love how he flirts with Megan. It's so cute and funny.

Aqualad

Ok when I first saw him I gasped. Like have u all seen this fine ass man. And the way he talks 😩. It's so soothing and calming. I also knew he would be the leader cause leadership radiated off of him. I'm glad they ended up making him the leader officially but damn, he's fine as fuck.

Superboy

When I first saw him in the tube thingy I was in shock. He's so handsome compared to Superman like damn. But one thing I don't like about him is how he's full of rage. He's technically the Hulk but DC version. There's nothing wrong with his rage but he just seems to not think and let his emotions control him. I also didn't like how mad he got at Megan when she read his mind by accident to comfort him that they'll find a human name for him. Like boy chill. She's being nice and you're acting like a little bitch. I also feel bad for him cause so far Superman has been avoiding him and leaving him alone. He's not acknowledging Superboy making him feel as though he's not worthy. But I also understand why Superman is doing that since this is technically his son but he obviously doesn't want to think that. I hope Superman helps him out though.

Miss Martian

I like her especially how she's the first female member in the Young Justice. But what I don't like about her is how she likes Superboy. Idk but I don't see any chemistry between them. Like I get she has a crush on him and it should stay like that in my opinion. I don't want them 2 to end up together cause I really don't see it. Also, I didn't like how in one of the episodes the members were treating her as if she's not ready. Superboy was especially being extra rude to her, that's why I don't want those 2 to get together.

Artemis

Ever since I saw her in the intro, I've been in love with her cause I knew she'd be related to Arrow somehow and I love Arrow, especially the Arrow CW show. Idk y but I thought she'd be serious like Arrow but I realized in the cartoon Arrow isn't that serious but also a little playful where she is similar in that way. I also love how she and Kid Flash argue like little teenagers. Tbh, I ship those 2. I actually hope they end up together.

Roy

I had no idea he was Roy but his personality is exactly the same as it was in the Arrow CW series. I want more of him. I love how he stands up to the adults and started being a solo hero. I need more of him.

Arrow

I know he's not in Young Justice but I love him so much. Like I love whenever he and Batman show up in the episodes like ahhh.

Batman

Omg I forgot how cool Batman looked when he had his whole cloak down on him. Idk y but I was always obsessed with Batman instead of Superman. I liked Superman but I loved Batman more. I love his personality and monotonous tone. So good.

CCCC Digital Doodle Dump - Oct 2023

Right - bear with me. Due to the sheer amount of digital doodles I have (and yes, I am emphasizing digital for a reason) and the amount of thoughts I have didn't make posting them separately feel right so I'm trying a different format for this.

The TLDR is, I had a lot of fun drawing CCCC related things last month. And y'all may as well be prepared for the long-run with me. My main goal was to get used to drawing HMS in my style (mostly hair and little design things based on my interpretations) and it's still something that'll be changing? But it's cool to see how things have changed and I'd like to share them.

Right - with that out of the way. Everything's under the Read More due to the sheer amount of text.

Second First attempt at drawing the trio in my style - and you can especially tell with the little notes I have (trust me - there's a version with even more notes).

A lot of my references were from the videos, especially Light & Night as well as the instrumental album cover, and fan interpretations I've seen that I liked and wanted to give a shot at (primarily Mind's mechanical hands/arms were from seeing @/maybedr3am's design) and some of my own interpretations or thoughts (but I wouldn't be surprised if some of those mixes with fan interpretations. Most of them I can't recall for the life of me except Heart having sharp teeth. I know others have done it - I just hadn't at the time seen a lot). But for the most part, there is a lot of me getting used to drawing hair specifically since I wanted them all to look somewhat different and it was good to practice that.

Some of these notes do not make sense to me right now - and I doubt they made sense at the time tbh (looking at that one near Soul)

While I much preferred starting primarily going off of the videos, Mind was an exception. ...Accidentally. I struggled really hard with him and still do so that note is funny in hindsight. I liked the robot/android-esque (?) angle/reference to 'mechanical hands' folks went with but forgot I don't draw robots much. It was frustrating me and in that time, I gave him snake bites to, as I say in the notes, mirror screws. ... And now they're just part of my Mind design because I like them too much.

Also!! I mentioned that I have a version with a lot more notes (and a different attempt at Mind I hated). I didn't really want a bunch of doodles of my sona around, so this version is for somewhat easier reading. It also left me with extra space for one more thing and I was listening to Dream so, a doodle based off the last verse it was! (I love that song, it's so good)

Second one which is a compilation of a bunch of different doodle sheets I did!! These are ones I really liked and also were mostly finished. But also each of the sheets (which is an amalgamation of three) were done at different times which you can see in my indecisiveness in what I liked in making Mind look more robotic bar just the arms and the one doodle where the hair sticking a top of Heart's head changes.

Soul, surprisingly, changes very little bar me not being able to decide if he'll have that accessory or not. Also me being stupid inconsistent with remembering to color in his hands (his whole body has that split color).

Anyways - like three of these are meme/shitpost adjacent. You'll also see me trying to think about how to incorporate the crown to Mind's design since I hadn't really tried - but I've since moved it to post-Cacophony or post-Light design ideas/headcanons. I like the hairpin idea a lot. (Note: In this headcanon, Heart also has something but it's a bracelet and... there's a lack of hands in this so... yeah. Mind made it) Also me doing a thing I like to just give random new outfits when drawing a character and... Heart's the one I had the most fun drawing.

It's a height headcanon thing I drew to visualize things for myself since I'm not the best with height. All it is, is that I think they're all the same height based off of what CJ said in the Medium Q&A. But then you have little details like Mind wearing platform shoes that basically make him 6'0" and Soul slouching a lot making him "the shortest". (Also hi completely human Mind design)

This was also originally done on the same doodle sheet where the "Fuck it we ball" one was on btw. Time wise, that was before I started changing how I drew the little hair sticking out on Heart's head which - speaking of...

Despite still drawing them interacting, I started to make clip files to practice drawing them on their own. I was already kind of doing that traditionally and I thought this would be a good way to get me to focus on one of the members. Especially since drawing with my tablet pen and pencil feels different but especially with these three.

Also - focusing on them individually felt like a good way to get used to how I draw them overall. I have one for Soul and Mind now, but not at the time. Idk if I'll share more of those later unless I can format them like actual reference sheets.

Fundamentally, this serves the same purpose as the first sheet. Trying out a bunch of things, just letting my hand... draw and seeing what I like and don't. Maybe even noting some little actions that I see myself drawing them doing (like the hands balled up in fists a lot). Also! It explains why I changed the shape of the hair at the top! I think the heart shape is cute - but as I did it more, I found with me trying to make his bangs look like a heart... just for me and my style specifically, it started to feel much. But then I had another idea in making it a bit more cartoon-y, which was the kind of circle/halo shape to create an angel motif and it fit well with how I see Heart. So that's how it is now!

It's actually fascinating seeing that I suddenly started changing how I drew his hair? I started this after making this for the record (which now I remember - I referenced these), and something just... changed. I don't like it considering I was actively trying to draw curls. I have a better grasp on it now though - I think.

I do think it's funny that this show like.... Spoilers don't Really matter? I spent most of the show knowing what the general shape of the rest of the series would look like and it was still a pleasant surprise anytime something finally came up, like the context just made it better, most of the time. I can't remember if I've ever said this before on this blog, but the first time I watched Gotham when it premiered, I really didn't like it! I didn't like this version of Oswald and didn't really care about the exposition, I think I must've watched only the first two episodes? But after coming back to it I don't know what's wrong with me, sure I still probably would've liked him more if he wasn't skinny but like. Just that first episode hooked me again this time, watching him kill for a sandwich that he frankly could have just stolen, he did not have to kill for it. How can you Not study him a little bit?

At one point I was keeping count of how many deaths he caused directly but I. Forgot about it during season 4 and lost count somewhere at the end and I don't feel like rewatching any part of season 4 tbh 😩

alright, i looked trough your blog and it is quite fascinating both for original parts of your narrative and how it seems specifically based off of ultrakill plot as of 6-2. with later versions will you plan to edit your AU to fit with new narrative elements or you prefer to keep it true to how it is now?

on the note of newer narrative elements, what is your interpretation for mind of hell? it really does seem that if ultrakill has a true main antagonist then it is hell itself. and with current way how it was characterized it seems to have "inherited" the world from god and is in complete control over current situation. angels are lost without gods plan and just try to make the same motions as before. humanity may have actually been ended by hell's design, even with how much the earths machines act as a force of nature hell seems to comfortably channel them like water and using for its own purposes and entertainment. so far hell restrained itself only for its wins to be more cathartic (various "uprisings" on different layers), and so far is the most in control and very distinctly from everyone else is absolutely enjoying its time

so yeah, i am really curios on your take on hell's mind in both official material and your AU since i saw only very passing mentions for it in your posts

ooooo good questions tbh...i've definitely thought a lot about what will happen with the au as ultrakill reaches its end and what i'll do about elements obviously becoming unfit compared to the story. i think it really depends on how much it's going to be off, but i will be honest in saying i would have a tough time abandoning my ocs if official versions of michael, raphael, uriel, or lucifer are introduced! i think of course they would be well done and i would actually love to see them in canon, but i think it would cause a divergent au in that case. because i would love to explore how this au might fit into whatever becomes canon, but i've just developed the world and characters too much to leave the au behind as it is now. overall though, i just need to see how it ends and what it introduces to know where i might want to go, if i'd want to do a properly canon-divergent au when everything is said and done, or if i might just...stick with a canon-divergent from 6-2 onward. it's funny bc i actually was nervous about this just with layer 7 dropping, so i can't imagine how anxious i'll be for the last 2 layers! esp with lucifer looming in treachery - i think it's very up in the air if any of the other archangels will play a role in the game at this point, but more about lucifer is highly likely to come imo so!!! it's a big waiting game to find out!!

you're right in that i haven't done too much with hell, though i am interested in it as a character - i have considered it more with lucifer becoming much more of an element in the au, as he has spoken with it constantly and hell is sort of...in love with him, in an abstract way. it views him still as one of the most beautiful works it has, the first bright and radiant thing it had ever seen in its misery, but hell has become utterly engrossed with the cruelty of humanity. while lucifer was some celestial god that fell to it, humanity had minds much like it, and so it fell in love with them in a way it could understand. hell is always searching for more, an artist always looking for inspiration while holding lucifer as its muse. it's the capacity they connect with on the most, both great creators with god's spark in them, and admittedly, in his suffering, lucifer sometimes understood hell's work. but lucifer was secure, lucifer it had always to speak to, but increasingly it whispered the brutality of mankind, the wonderful inventions of their minds and the horrible works of their hands it began to copy. it hooked itself into the terminals they installed, and so lucifer gained all the knowledge of machines through their internal circuit. and when mankind was wiped out, hell became master in a world run by automation with all the creators gone from their servants. it has all it wants, and it indulges in testing its creations upon the machines and the husks of mankind in such tangible joy that an abstract like lucifer could not bring to it. lucifer it relates to in hatred, in his deep, abyssal loathing of the god that trapped him here, but even that is something more abstract to hell than the brutality of humanity - lucifer hates perfectly, he hates with the mind of god, and it is not met precisely by hell as hell was born into what it is.

so what then can hell feel when lucifer is released from it, when the dragon is cut down and its flesh severed from treachery's? this is really where i want to explore the relationship between lucifer and hell, what they are to each other - hell is a take on "this place loves you", but it is entirely malignant, noxious and harmful, while lucifer recognizes it as the hideous creation he fell trying to destroy, yet it is now irrevocably his home, the one entity he now knows. they are tangled up in each other, lucifer in an obvious sense but hell now cannot bear to lose its little spark of god's light. something in his beauty sustains it, it pulls at him constantly now that he's partially left it, and lucifer is stranded not knowing what decision to make. he still hears it speaking to him, esoteric fragments made up of the ambient noise of its body, but what can he do with it now? it is alive, sentient, a being put into a wretched position by god which condemns it for how antithetical it is to the fulfillment of all other creations. lucifer wanted it gone. he protested against it all those eons ago. but now he is frozen by choice, seeing it behave as some evil god yet knowing it cannot be any other way. what is fair then? to find some way to kill it? to cut off whatever constitutes its brain? to reason with it? try to change its very essence? lucifer must work through the possibilities while accepting hell, in so many ways, is the place he now wants to be. free at last, but once more full of despair. how can he kill his home and what might be his only friend? how can he reason with it, when he once tried the same with god and was struck down? how can he change it when he is just a pale shadow of what made something so monstrous in the first place? yet he fears hell will grow angry in its stasis, in running out of victims for its cruelty, and act out in retaliation

Okay good, Marry WAS written to be the way I thought she was(kinda but I was right).

I’m sad that Cloney Island was only one episode. Would’ve been nice to have a 2 part season finale, especially with the abrupt way Cleo and Frida were pushed back together— realistic for teenagers, especially a dramatized version of teenagers, but still would’ve been nice to see them fight a bit more, give sad longing glances over their shoulders after turning away, and then build that up to the climax of the episode where they make up in true sappy teen drama fashion that would be very in character for them both in the first place.

Aaaaaaaand Abe and Joan triangle once again but this time with Confucius! Wow! I am still not rooting for JoanAbe lmao, I think Joan and Confucius have way more chemistry than even Joanfk did. They seemed to have a lot of fun together.

Harriet and JFK… I still can’t see them working. I’m sorry. My new impression of Harriet is she’s one of those jealous types. A home wrecker and a cheater even. She just assumed she and Confucius were back together without asking, telling me that she’s definitely a bit of a control freak or definitely very impulsive(ocd possibly? Someone with more knowledge do an analysis, my basic level knowledge isn’t enough or factually sound). I honestly used to adore Harriet’s character, her annoying personality was passable enough to grow on me. But now it’s just insufferable. I mean I still love her character, but not really in the I adore her way, just that I wanna continue to see her fuck things up and see how much drama she can cause. And how her and JFK’s relationship will be ruined because I genuinely want it to be ruined because there’s really no substance behind it, just raging teenage hormones and the threat of imminent death.

I do genuinely feel bad for Scudworth but I for the love fuck cannot remember his ex-lover’s name. But I do hope Scud gets to see her again and they can actually be together in peace. They seemed nice together! I thought it was really cute, Scud was actually getting a win this time.

Uh Topher— or should we call him Christopher now?— being proud of his Clone lineage because some guests liked him was actually amazing in that I want a list of those people to avoid them which could be easy because they most likely were some of the January 6th capital rioters, that’s the only conclusion I can come up with that summarizes my entire assumption about those, uh, “fans”. But I guess it’s good he’s accepting who he’s been cloned from? Question mark? I’m scared of the micro aggressions to come. Someone contact his therapist that may or may not be Scudworth in a wig in the first place, I’m a little scared.

If season 4 is greenlit, if not already that is, I hope Gandhi gets to come back. There were several good call backs to him, especially how Scudworth inexplicably had several of his belongings in his possession? Sir what the fuck.

AND MY GOD THE F-BOMBS WHERE SO OVER DONE BUT ABSOLUTELY NOT IN A BAD WAY. They were perfectly balanced in my opinion and combined with the delivery of each Fuck combined with each Shit and every other curse mentioned, it was perfect. Compare it to either H/zben H/tel + h/lluva b/ss or Rick and Morty and you’ve actually got a script that although littered with curses, doesn’t rely on those curses to make the show funny. The fact each profanity wasn’t always expected coupled with the delivery is what made it good AND natural, not forced. Scudworth’s FUCK in season 2 walked so everyone’s FUCK AND SHIT in season 3 could run like fr.

I’m sad Cleo’s back with her terrible foster mom. I don’t like Frida’s foster dad. Having a sweater with your daughter’s face on it is….. strange. Confucius’ are kind of as I expected, but tbh I still say they’re fostering him for the publicity and check. Skunky Poo’s return was disturbing which seemed to be on purpose. I think I saw Van Gogh with two dads in the background and I’m only saying this because tbh I think he deserves two moms instead lmao, give this boy his two moms.

Abe this season felt like an in between of season 1 and 2 but mostly still s2. But I did love his interactions with JFK and Confucius. Especially JFK. And how fucking casual JFK essentially came out as bisexual lmao. All in all, these two were fucking hilarious this season. But yeah uh Abe is a toxic asshole by the way but we all knew that and honestly that’s why I love him and if Joanabe really IS endgame, I can cope with the fact that these two are highly likely to marry after graduation and divorce several years later, they’re terrible for each other.

I think this season was a lot better, which makes sense with what seemed like was a bigger budget. The animation actually looked a little different, not bad different but good different, much smoother??? I may have to go back and rewatch season 2, but right off the bat s3 animation really felt different, it felt more alive in a way and I really loved it. I hope we get a season 4 fr. And I hope it’s the final season, I cannot see it getting a s5 UNLESS it’s a parody/joke to how most shows these days keep stacking on the seasons without any heartfelt material in it (*cough* supernatural and the simpsons and bobs burger *cough* *cough*)

I don't know if you remember but I'm the trans guy who asked if there'll be a cis version for the sequel cause he couldn't read the trans version due to some heavy body dysmorphia going on.

Soooo update I finally am able to read the trans version... You probably don't remember but the way you responded helped me a lot to come to terms with the way my body looks right now and that I can still be a man, even like this.

(Tbh for the longest time I thought I was a transphobic woman bc trans characters who hadn't transitioned gave me panic attacks and it's kinda funny in retrospect lol I was just dumb)

And I dunno I just needed you to know that you wrote that beautifully and I'm so relived and happy to be kinda content right now. I haven't felt this good about me... Ever?

And I just read the christmas scene and Stu saw Billy naked for the first time and... And he just wants and loves Billy exactly the way he is and that was so... Healing. (honestly am totally in love with your Stu anyway but this really sealed the deal).

Hey dude I definitely remember you! Your ask was important to me, honestly, transmascs like you are some of the people this fic is for. To be clear its for everyone, but the whole reason I wrote two versions was because of my own fluctuating relationship with dysphoria. I understand why you weren't feeling ok to read the trans version, and I'm glad it ended up being a healing experience for you, you have no idea how much it means to me to hear that.

And just as a side note I don't think it dumb you were afraid you were just a transphobic woman. I think it's really easy to internalize transphobia especially when you're still processing your identity. Transphobia is everywhere and it's unquestioned, and in a lot of cases it's more accessible than trans rhetoric that's positive and affirming. I would argue that transphobia has a major presence in a lot of trans communities too honestly, that's what trans-medicalism is.

The reality is our bodies aren't worse than cis bodies, they aren't less attractive. They're just different, but the world acts like it's a fucking tragedy to have to cut your tits off and take hormones, and that's bullshit. I'm a much more attractive trans dude than I was a cis woman. Do I still have a complicated relationship with parts of my body? Yes. Do I still have dysphoria? Yes. But so do cis people.

I wrote the trans version specifically because I wasn't seeing a lot of transmasc representation (in fic or other media) that felt true and affirming to me- not that the other stuff can't be affirming to other transmascs, just I wasn't finding stuff that felt like a positive version of my own experience.

I think theres a tendency to focus on body, dysphoria, and insecurity in trans fiction in a way that isn't untrue, but also which doesn't give me the ability to engage in fun smut the same way I feel cis people get to. Cis people can be insecure about their bodies in lots of ways, I'd argue cis people also experience gender dysphoria (think cis women with small chests, cis men who have breasts or smaller penises, ect.), but it's not nearly as common for sexual depictions of them in fiction to focus on those insecurities, and on navigating the way other people react to their bodies ahead of the actual smut.

The other place I see this happening is with sexual depictions of fat people and disabled people. Our bodies and minds are positioned as barriers in sexual situations, and while realistically we may have things to navigate that cis, thin or able bodied people don't, that doesn't mean those barriers need to be centered in erotica that involves us. Cis, thin, able bodied people have insecurities and sexual hang-ups too, so why do they get to be written as having fun, positive sex without centering those things when we don't? To me it positions transness, fatness, and disability as inherently being a barrier to positive sexuality and I just think that's unrealistic.

I'm rambling but all that is to say, this has been healing to me too. We deserve depictions of ourselves that acknowledge the differences and barriers we do have (like, Billy is still scared about coming out, it's hard for him to do, thats a barrier) without making them the whole experience.

I'm really glad you're feeling better about things, and i'm really, really fucking touched that my writing could be a part of that 🖤

TGCF Donghua

okay so I've been watching this shit since it was released and I'm fully enjoying waiting for the weekly episodes and I wanna rant about it because I love it so much but I do have some minor gripes

Bad chuchu out of the way first

I am not happy with how generic and unoriginal the designs for most of the supporting characters. Like yeah they still look somewhat different but when the pool of named characters will expand it will get harder and harder to tell people apart if they keep on going with this route. Almost everyone suffers from same face syndrome which I know is rampant in current anime I just wished they allowed for at least more dynamic silhouettes, hairstyles, and color palettes. It feels like a more toned down version of the character design in the manhua. Lang Qianqiu in the manhua is so easy to recognize because of his outfit and pei ming looks more like the bastard he is etc. Don't get me started on the design for Kemo, the manhua felt eh I feel like Kemo was too pretty and too slim but in the donghua its just he's a straight up orc idk, i feel like they could've done better. Pei Su looks very generic, I think out of everyone he's the most generic looking of them all. SQX, Ling Wen and Jun Wu are the best designs for the supporting cast and I think Banyue is also okay looking cause you can tell her apart from the rest so far.

I am super disappointed in Qi Rong's reveal because it doesn't feel as impactful in the book. In the book the reveal of him looking like Xie Lian was so dramatic to me I was like oh my god is that his brother? A twin? a doppelganger? And then Qi Rong just kinda looks like that, tbh his voice actor and his clothes are fine I think they fit. It's just weird how he suffers from same face syndrome. If they made everyone look less like each other making Qi Rong look like Xie Lian would have been so impactful and a really cool cliffhanger but they couldn't do that because even fucking Lang Qianqiu kinda looks like Xie Lian with lighter hair. Also the Fang xin design is alright on the clothes but the mask gives off a bit cheap however I get that it can't be super detailed and it still does its job so I can handwave that small pet peeve.

Also censorship we couldn't get Xie Lian falling on Hua Cheng's lap and so them trying to make up for that was super awkward LMAO, they could have solved this by making SQX fall right on Hua Cheng's chair so that they could justify why Xie Lian grabbed Hua Cheng and throws him but they didn't... and it's so awkward...

I think it was like Episode 2 of s2 that the animation feels weird, Mu Qing's face felt off to me idk what was going on it just felt like something went down but the next episode it was perfectly fine anyway.

Positives!!!

Something the manhua didn't have was Fu Yao and Nan Feng looking a bit like each other, that was so fucking funny and it's a great display of how much they hate each other and live rent free in each other's heads ong. I love that detail the donghua did I think that's smart.

The voice actors are so great in both dubs they're doing amazing (I haven't listened to the jp dub) I have no complaints I love their work

ONE of my favorite things about the donghua is being able to see Hua Cheng's expressions even when Xie Lian is doing something in the book so he wouldn't notice. I love seeing how pleased he is every time someone points out the intimacy with him and Xie Lian. Like in season 1 when Fu Yao is shocked/horrified that Xie Lian shared a bed with Hua Cheng, San Lang puts a hand on his chin and looks so fucking smug and happy. This happens a couple times in s2 as well someone will be like oh that's weird you're so like this with Hua Cheng and he becomes a smug cat it's great.

Another one I enjoy is during the beginning of the banyue arc when Xie Lian reveals to Fu Yao and Nan Feng that he's used to sleeping in squalor the camera goes to Nan Feng not revealing his face but clearly showing his guilt over what Xie Lian reveals. That's good shit.

Lan Chang picking a fight off screen, also cool, love seeing her. I like that she looks inconspicuous so for someone who doesn't know shit about tgcf they will not see *that* shit coming.

ALSO the men look kinda generic if they're not the mls but the girls are all gorgeous???? like the woman who was Hua Cheng's speaker, the girl who led Xie Lian further into the gambling den, XUAN JI, Banyue all the girls are unique without being so ostentatious and I love them. If you put them beside each other they all look like they're own thing but still on theme. From clothes, to hairstyle and colors it's easy to tell and that's good design. I also include SQX's female form cause she's gorgeous too.

The donghua I think adds to stuff I haven't read I'm not sure if this is because I have a bad memory but I don't recall reading a flashback of Lang Qianqiu and the failed robbery. But the message of that entire section was so fucking good. The way that what Lang Qianqiu said about 'maybe he shouldn't have intervened' and the sound effects UGh. It's so good, i love how the book tackles the morality of everything, breaking down Lang Qianqiu's firm positivity and believing in humanity but still promoting being kind and considerate through Xie Lian. This theme still carries on in the show and I think they're doing a great job.

GOD THE MUSIC in the donghua is so fucking good, I love it. The songs, the meanings, the beat it's all perfect I can't say anything more.

even though i'm disappointed in the character design choices the donghua is very solid, I love it a lot. It does come off as very expositiony sometimes but I think that's very prevalent in Chinese Wuxia and Xianxia. Probably weird for people who aren't used to the genre but to anyone who's seen something like it, it's not unbearable and it's kinda necessary because of how the book is written. Waiting for wednesday patiently whilst i draw huahua

There are so many fun details the Donghua adds that shows that they know the story and where it's going as well hinting at character stuff, it's so fun to spot those. Like Xie Lian's reaction to Hua Cheng biting the bun made me wanna claw my face that shit was good af.

I think I’ll go ahead and come off of anon xD. Mostly cause I have thoughts and would like to have someone to talk to lol.

Tbh, my emphasis on her fatal flaw being self sacrifice is probably a bit of a knee jerk reaction to how it tends to be portrayed in the fandom at large. ‘Cause it seems a common thing to portray her hubris as arrogance and I don’t think she’s very arrogant at all.

If I remember correctly she never really tries to place herself above anyone else. Heck, at the end of TLO she says that Percy saved the world and he corrects it to “us”. She’s even the first person to give credit to Tyson at the of SOM.

How it does manifest the majority of the time tho (at least in my opinion) is via reckless overconfidence. There are 3 instances which are usually used as examples to her nearly dying from her fatal flaw. The sirens, the sphinx, and Arachne. Of those the ones that are more overtly arrogance are the the latter two (tho I personally hesitate to include the sphinx because the dialogue to me sounds more like she’s having a neurodivergent breakdown but that’s another discussion). Everything else tho? The sirens, the manticore, the sky, the helicopter, fighting after getting stabbed, etc? Heck, volunteering for quests in general? Either reckless overconfidence or her just moving without thinking in defense of someone else.

TLDR, it’s not that I think she isn’t prideful, I just think she’s more likely to die to protect someone else.

Also, I think it’s kinda funny you say she’s not one to forgive when I personally think she’s one of the most forgiving people in the series. She forgives Luke and her dad, after all, even if, as you said, she never quite forgets. The only exception is probably Hera, which, I mean, is fair xD

oh my GOD i love this!!! completely agree on her pride manifesting as reckless overconfidence, it's very much a sense of "i could do it and i could do it BETTER" that reminds me of the sirens' vision she had in the sea of monsters. honestly, her explanation of it hits the nail on the head - i think she says something along the lines of "but sometimes you just see the bad stuff/what if i could take everything down and rebuild it from scratch' which is so interesting to me!! i've said this before about her more emotional reactions, but annabeth, the supposed 'logical one', acts more on raw emotion than just about anyone. she gets angry and mad and JEALOUS, and she doesn't even attempt to hide it - that's what contributes to the way i write annabeth, which is pretty much as an emotional disaster. i love her so much

I really dislike Disney's new trend of "the girl saves the villain" that's been done with both kylo and loki

I don't even think that's the case with loki but the more i read about how the fandom interprets sylki the more i get this vibe, and while i don't exactly like rey and kylo/ben as a couple i can see how rey may have impacted his choice for redemption, she showed him compassion and had faith in him that he decided to twist to his own good

But in case of sylvie and loki i can't really see how sylvie treats loki any different than the people in his life that made him like that in the first place

I've also seen metas discussing that loki was so attracted to sylvie because she is a braver version of him one that he lacks the strength to be like her and while I don't want to bash sylvie but she is not brave she is vengeful try hard as i can i still can't see a single thing about her that makes her more powerful than other lokis, her backstory is almost the same as every varient in the tva only she is the one that managed to escape in the dumbest way possible? I still don't understand why she wasn't eliminated by the TVA for so long

Ones she escaped she must have had some time to try to figure out how this technology works cause as shown by the show she only spent a couple of hours in the TVA before her escape, and even if she did figure it out and the tva had been hunting her for so long why couldn't they just prune the timeline she hides in and get rid out her?

Thinking about this show hurts my brain tbh, and seeing the two couple compared to each other just made sth break loose in me

The biggest difference for me is Rey is good... but Sylvie is not. I know a lot of people tend to see someone with a "troubled past" and they're super quick to defend and justify the character no matter what they do (WF handles the story beautifully but the amount of fans I've seen justifying Namor really makes my skin crawl), but that's just not the way to go.

In Sylvie's case it's the same as Namor's, what part of her story means she's good? She's seen torching people alive, enchanting both agents and innocents at will, she's completely selfish and everything she does is for her own petty revenge. The only character in the series who never hurts an innocent is Loki. He's the only one.

So to claim that the girl saves the boy it's laughable. That implies the boy is bad but the girl is good, except we know she's not and the same attributes that are condemned in him are praised in her on the basis that it is her doing them.

But to claim that Sylvie is a braver version of him... oh my. How funny. So Classic Loki escaping means he's a coward but when it's her escaping that means she's brave? So brave that her method of violence is enchantment? Don't they see the irony in that? 😂😂

If her actions had been done by Loki they would be against them, they just don't want to admit that because the framing supports that.

PS. I agree with you about Reylo by the way. I'm not a fan, especially when Finn was right there! I loved those 3 characters but the story was so bland... oh well. We'll always have the throne room fight + Finn and Poe flying the tie fighter

Sonic Prime S2 Ep. 1 Ramblings!

(⚠️ SPOILER WARNING!!! ⚠️)

I give it an 8/10. I liked seeing an episode that was just both Sonic and Shadow. And as usual, the voice acting was really good. I’m really looking forward to see what happens with the Boscage Maze in the next episode, as well as the rest of the shatterverses in the rest of the season.

And now to rattle off about some of my favorite moments in this episode:

Of course I had to start with when Sonic realized Shadow was “the real Shadow” and not a shatterspace counterpart. I homestly find it kinda sweet and funny how Prime!Sonic seems to be more of a cuddlebug compared to the other versions of Sonic throughout the franchise. Shadow looks so ready to murder though lmao

2. I find it pretty interesting too though how thanks to his speed and prismatic energy, Sonic seems to be the only one who’s able get to and from the shatterspaces, while Shadow couldn’t get through.

3. “I know I caused this. It just keeps getting worse.”

The way his voice broke a little when he said that. 💔 Deven Mack really sold that line!

4. What really got to me most was when Sonic gets excited that he seems to be back in Green Hill with his friends, but how devastated he is when he realizes it’s not the Green Hill he once knew 😭

5. The way Sonic looked when he entered the cave was kinda heartbreaking but kinda cute at the same time tbh. Poor guy :(

6. And of course, the big fight scene. I personally don’t think the choreography was as good as it was when they first fought in S1, but it was still pretty fun to watch! Also Sonic coming to Nine’s defense when Shadow said that he “couldn’t be trusted” and that he wasn’t his “real friend” was absolutely 👌.

7. Also, the smug looks at each other!!! (Plus Sonic teasingly flirting with Shadow? 👀 /j)

8. “Come at me, bro.” Shadow, buddy, please don’t ever let that come out of your mouth again. (I know he was mocking Sonic at this part, but still. It’s so weird hearing someone like him say something like that dhdjjsjsjsksk).

then there's me absolutely losing my mind. I'm - ok. get this. I was literally listening to the byrds that afternoon??? since I got a few more of their records?? and to have mike just randomly decide to play the byrds was INSANE. was there some kind of connection there OR WHAT???? that was just..... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 obviously that was just for ME 😭😭😭😭😭 that's my guyyy

at this point the band gets their introductions and you know what. they all deserve so much appreciation. I haven't mentioned lance or steve yet but they were absolutely solid as a rhythm section and deserve to be noticed for that. lance might actually be up there as one of my favorite bass players tbh. those songs would not sound the way they do without my favorite instrument holding them up!! also I thought it was cute that mike introduced chris and lance and went that's it! that's the band! lmaoo the crowd knew better and I LOVE that. steve got such a big reaction AS HE SHOULD!! and steve did come up front to introduce mike like he has been. and he made a really heartfelt speech about how they met and how walking into those wildflowers sessions started the best 30 years of his life. I'm so grateful that I've been able to see them together a couple times now. there's clearly a lot of love, respect, and pure friendship there that's really beautiful to see in person. anyway. now that I'm almost crying again, they end on two more of tom's songs

as if I didn't make it obvious enough already, I had such a great timeee 😭 I always do!!! I think what really gets me though is that these guys are just people. of course they are?? but it's so so obvious when you're with them and watching them interact with each other and the crowd. it's really silly little things that I notice too and I'm just like. I love these people. at one point mike asked to have the bass in his ear lowered and lance acted sad about it. during the introductions mike looked at chris and went, "you're trouble" and chris got a laugh out of that. when steve came up to the mic one of the first things he said was "do you like my jacket" lmaoo he bought it from one of the vendors at the festival and they gave him a discount to say that asjfdlkf. talent and songs and everything else aside, those little things make concerts so so special to me. I also absolutely adore how much credit mike gives the guys for keeping him going and inspired. this is a band. not just some random guys. it's kinda like what the heartbreakers were for tom, it just wouldn't happen without the right people.

once it was over, mike left us with a little piece of advice that. I just had to write down for my own reasons

in his words, "love somebody, and let them love you back"

and that felt like the perfect way to end the night 🥺
