the fact that oikawa never went to nationals is so inspiring to me.

you don’t need to succeed at all the steps to achieve your goals. i tend to bring myself down whenever i don’t succeed at something. and of course being disappointed is normal. not getting into nationals was painful for all of aoba josaj.

but if you look at the time skip, i don’t see a difference between like ushijima/hinata/atsumu (people who did go to nationals) and oikawa. they’re all professional volleyball players who are living their dream career. looking back it seems insignificant whether oikawa did or did not go to nationals. he is where he wanted. what does matter however is that despite never getting into nationals, he never stoped. he kept practicing (like lingling lol)

kept playing

kept pursuing his dream.

this is the kind of perseverance and resilience i want to adopt in my life.

Yahaba Shigeru!!! He’s the second string setter on the team Aoba Johsai(or Seijoh), which is. Kinda Karasuno (the main team)’s rival? Not their main rivals but. Anyways he’s a second year and he plays in Karasuno’s first match against Aoba Johsai because their primary setter is injured but he’s literally. Not shown at all lol. Anyways This is his character profile

In the manga his hair is colored silver but in the anime they make it brown and I have. So many headcanons. I’ll spare you tho

You might notice the guy in the back. His name is Kyoutani Kentarou and he’s an edgy angry man he quit the team because he didn’t like being told what to do but he rejoined and Yahaba kinda really hates him but Yahaba is a proper guy so he just glares at Kyoutani

Anyways at this point Yahaba has had like. Zero attention paid to him. He has zero screen time. Basically what you know about him at this point is

He’s the secondary setter

He’s kinda nervous

He gossiped about Karasuno in their first match together

He looks up to Oikawa (the main setter)

He tries to flirt with Karasuno’s manager and. He has the. Funniest face in the entire show

Anyways this is what we know about him. So now they’re in an official match. Kyoutani is messing up. Yahaba is getting pissed. One of the other characters goes ‘Yahaba don’t do anything’ and Yahaba goes ‘sorry but-‘

furadate really is that bitch. i mean, they took haikyuu, one of the most popular mangas in the world, and they didn’t reveal the back story for one of the main characters until nearly the very end of the manga- and we still loved them intensely. think about it, apart from that one match of kageyama’s in middle school, we knew nothing about him, not until there was only 16 chapters till the end of the manga. We didn't even know what got him into volleyball. and when furadate did reveal that past, it turned out to be fucking DEVASTATING and made his entire relationship with hinata even more special. what a fucking power move.

I always thought Iwaizumi was hard to write for since he’s so stoic but also hyper at the same time? I mean it’s clear he’s a dom but what is it about his personality that u think makes him easier to write for than other characters? I find him and Oikawa to be particularly difficult, and I think tsukki is a less challenging character to write for? Sorry that’s a whole rant but I’m curious to know ur thoughts

I think for me Tsukki is easier because on 1) we have lots of interaction and canon content on him, specifically focused on his growth and his key aspects are very clearly stated -- we know he’s (a little bitch) snarky, very intelligent while also being competitive, easily lashes out and have deep, internalized self-doubt and trust issues. Now, with this I think I can have a nice grasp on him and then feel more secure about writing him, making it easier for me. 

Also I love the fucking beanpole salty bitch, can’t help it, he was my first real crush on hq 💘

I'm also not good when writing Oiks, reason why I only use him sometimes and in small scenes. But I do think it has to do with me not being so into him? Like I have the key traits from him, and I can write him platonically but like a whole thing from him? idk, it doesn’t flow. 🤷🏼

Did you notice I've left Iwa for last? That's bc he's the CHERRY ON TOP and I'll RANT AISJAISJ Ok so like, he's not easy to write, I think I just love him and think about him a lot that's why I feel like he's easy; also it's mostly like the iwaizumi in my head is an easy guy for me to write and while he may resemble canon idk if he's all *that* in character yk? IAJIAJSIA does this make sense??

But let's go, rant about why I think he's an easy dude for me:

- I relate a lot with Iwaizumi, specifically the part of being under someone's whos brilliant and feeling like you're lacking, having the self-doubt eating away in your head despite the fact you don't normally let it out but on contrary, you actually try to work hard and get shit done while being responsible. 

- I also relate to being the responsible one in a group, looking over everyone else, and being reliable, all while dealing with my own shit yk?

- I don't think Iwa is stoic as I think he's a serious dude. He's responsible, faithful, a bit aggressive, a good observer, and playful (tho I feel like not right away, it requires a bit of intimacy). He's also a great, strong senpai and I LOVE HIM OKAY!  🥺💕💕

- I also don't think of him as hyper as I think of him as a normal guy, with friends and passions and hobbies, and a super cute nerd (TIMESKIP! SPOILER) as we could see from him just WHIPPING OUT THE BOOK by Ushi's dad to point out what he likes, like???? who fucking carries a book about workout regimen like that? The nerd that is Iwaizumi Hajime, that's who!!! (END SPOILER)

- Iwa is a lot on his head all while seemingly perfect outside, doing his shit, looking over Oiks and helping his friends and it felt really close to me, reason why I'm so deep inside iwaizumi hajime hell and proudly so.

OH AND LIKE, I didn't even go about him being dom and all IAJSIAJSAI look, yes, I feel the dom vibes -- I'm a whole bottom for him too, but I think iwa would also be into soft, looking-into-your-eyes lovemaking and I'm here for ALL OF IT. I just love him a lot okay 🥺🤧💕

Haikyuu-bu is really funny because it's just. Straight crack. And technically it's official, although Furodate didn't write it illustrate. Things that are canon in Haikyuu-bu- Oikawa dates an alien. Takeru's family is so huge if fills up five busses. At one point there's a youkai hunt and everyone thinks Tendou is a kappa vice versa. Kyoutani becomes a wildman at some point. Date tech builds a robot Aone that tries to take over the world. It's fun. So much fun
