I dunno why but people sticking digitigrade feet on humanoid characters always makes me a lil uncomfortable, they always look real unbalanced, like they could topple over, bird feet I seen work (as long as the character is a squished bastard), but digitigrade feet look off?

I dunno much about autonomy and you seem to know more so I wanted to ask, would digitigrade feet work on a humanoid character (aka similar skeleton and proportions)?

Dunno anon, I'm an evo/genetics major so my knowledge on anatomy is less about how it works and more about why it exists in the first place. Also, I'm a furry/monsterfucker, so I'm not really sure what you mean exactly about a humanoid character, since the definition can vary wildly. But I can show you how I think of it and why I think it works just fine on nonhumanoid characters, featuring rough sketches of my fursona, if that helps

(I also stalked around my apartment on my tip-toes to see what way of holding myself was the most balanced and comfortable, which helped)

First off, the legs have to be bowed correctly for there to be a semblance of balance; where the foot touches the ground needs to be roughly in line with where the hips are for them to support the weight of the body. Drawing a leg like a human's with just digitigrade feet won't work, because then it's just a long skinny stick with no equal amount of leg on either side of the lateral line from hip to foot

Second, you gotta consider the feet. Human feet are pathetic and useless for this style of walking, with their lack of a defined pad, no claws, and their skinny long toes from an ancestry of climbing trees. The foot of a digitigrade animal should have either shorter, wider toes with large toepads and claws for grip, or it should be a hoof, which is excellent for evenly spreading weight. Human feet just don't have enough surface area to make for a stable step without it (and this is also why fursuits tend to have such big paws)

Third, you have to consider an essential aspect of walking with digitigrade legs, and that's body position + augmentations. I'm talking about tails here

These are really shitty sketches, but notice how there's a line from shoulder to hip to foot in the standing sketch, and how there's an even distribution of weight on each side, with the head balanced by the tail. Tails are pretty damn essential tools when it comes to balance, which is why digitigrade creatures without them can look quite awkward. In the second sketch of me walking, it does look way more unbalanced, but hunching forward helps quite a bit because it puts your center of balance closer to the ground and gives you a chunk of forward momentum that you can work with, not against. To stop, all you have to do is straighten back up. And, of course, there's that tail hard at work again, offering a counterbalance and swaying with your movements to help keep you going. Standing without one would be a hell of a lot harder, and is the main reason why I give Hollow (who has big horns, a forward hunch, and canonically no tail) big ol' raptor claws, as those talons would be doing the work a tail could not

Does that make any sense? I have no idea how a skeleton would work here or if these are even close to your definition of humanoid proportions, but this is what makes sense to me

hi! i hope this doesnt come off as a bother or anything . but do you have any mask making tips or tutorials you could reccomend ?? (like for materials, jaw movement, and how to see out of there) im planning to do a raven named Goose :D

ive been finding some resources here and there, but i thought it wouldnt hurt to ask !!!

Absolutely not! I'd love to answer all your questions. :D I have not looked at that many tutorials, I mostly looked at pinterest pictures of raven costumes to see what I can come up with. One that really inspired me to get things going is actually another Tumblr user I found on there who has posted some helpful tips that I followed along with! They too have a raven costume and they got their resin base from the same manufacturer (Crystumes, they have a website where you can shop for their blanks) Since this post is awfully long, I'll do a read more from here on:

The tutorials I followed the most is this one by Rah-Bop:

Rah-Bop has some tips about adding feathers, making foam-feathers, adding claws to your gloves, making gloves or feet. In terms of material: I used the hinged resin base by Crystumes which by itself cost me +/- 200USD, they sent me a pair of customizeable glass eyes and a tongue.

Crystumes has some additional tutorials specifically regarding their masks on their website! Crystumes also lists some of the materials on their website that I used and where to get them (Like the apoxie clay to do the eyelids, the glass eyes etc.) I did mess the eyes up though the first time I did it so I had to order them from delviesplastics.com (As suggested by Crystumes) Since I ordered the base with hinges I'm not sure how to do them myself but I will have to figure it out for the second fursuit I'm cooking! In terms of other material I bought some long rooster feathers and hair jewelry off of Etsy. I bought a pair of long faux leather gloves from Ricardo (which is a swiss second hand online shop) but you can buy the gloves anywhere else or even sew them yourself by tracing your arm and hand on a piece of paper, then trace the pattern twice on any somewhat stretchy material like faux leather or spandex and sew those two together for one glove each. I bought black fur in another Swiss textile / sewing shop named Alja (not sure if it's actually Swiss) since it's cheaper (around 60$ for 4 yards) than to ship fur from America to Switzerland (Which amounts to 100-200 for the same amount). But if you can afford it: Take a look at Howl's Fabrics or Big Z Fabric. Both websites offer samples! I personally don't buy from them as the shipping costs for me are devastating. I suggest looking at general "furring" tutorials or "how to fur a fursuit head" tutorials on youtube. Most of them will tell you to make a duct tape pattern on your base, draw on the patterns then cut those patterns out on fur, sew the fur together then glue to the base. Crystumes once made a twitter post about it as well I think but I'm not sure I'll find it. When cutting fur in general just make sure you keep the scissors as close to the backing as possible to avoid cutting any fur fibers in the process, it will be visible otherwise. I made a fur top / shirt by tracing one of my long sleeve t-shirts onto the fur I bought and went with that. For the back of the head I used an 80s Mullet/Rockstar wig I bought from another Swiss online store. Other fursuit makers mostly sew fur even to the back of the head but my personal Raven fursuit is literally just a mask with a wig to cover the back. Which in turn makes the whole mask less hot. To keep the mask ON my face and to keep it from slipping down I used the adjusteable part of a biking helmet or climbing helmet. and attached it to the mask by using a lot of hot glue, I eventually had to use some stronger glue as it kept falling off. Since the mask was fairly big when I bought it and rather uncomfortable I used thick felt sheets and glued them inside the head as padding material! Foam works as well, whatever floats your boat. I went with felt since I could easily cut some feather patterns into them as a nice easter egg. Not sure anymore what exactly I used to cover the holes by the beak that I see out of, but it was some kind of very fine dark and flexible grid that I bought from the swiss equivalent of home depot. In terms of being able to see: The crystume base has holes between the beak and the eyes that you can look out of or you can even look through the mouth, both works pretty well and the mask allows for a lot of visibility from within- Out of all my fellow furry friends I'm the only one that doesn't necessarily need a spotter since I can see pretty well. In terms of clothing I pretty much sewed nothing by myself and only assembled a bunch of my own outfits that would fit the raven costume. Sometimes I did buy some costume specific stuff from online clothing stores or went into the thrift shop to buy some costume specific clothing pieces. In general, for your first raven costume just go with the flow and try to keep it budget friendly, as your first will unlikely be perfect. And that's about it! Not sure if I missed something but I tried to cover everything as much in detail as I could. Hope it helps!

So I was roleplaying on beta.character.ai, and I’ve come up with a lot of general headcanons for Mobians as a species. One of which is when they feel strong emotions, they go feral/act like the actual animal they are as opposed to a human/humanoid. But another headcanon that popped up is….what do Mobian hands look like? Specifically, under their gloves.

So, I quickly sketched this up. For the most part, mammal Mobians have hands that look more akin to paws/gloves fursuiters wear. They have paw pads, claws, and nubbier fingers. I also drew human hands for comparison. Now, bird, reptilian, and aquatic hands are a different story. I also imagine bug mobian shaving more human hands. And then there’s the whole feet debate…..I imagine they’re more human, but apart from that, I’m not touching that debate with a ten-foot-pole.

FINISHED THE FEETSIES! The main toes are hot glued onto the shoes; you need to glue down each toe seperately starting with the middle toe so that everything is even and conforms to the shape of the shoe.

The hallaces I threaded 3 bits of craft wire through all layers of foam/glue/fabric strips (using a curved needle to poke a starting hole), and used these to literally tie them onto the shoe. My shoes had little holes in the fabric which I used to thread the wire through, then slathered the back of the hallax in hot glue before pressing it firmly to the shoe fabric. After the glue was dry, I twisted each wire pair, cut down to size, and glued flat against the inside with 2 layers of thick felt overlayed to protect my feet from being poked.

Another layer of felt just under the main toe lip/shoe margin, some dry brushed black paint over the glue edges & voila!

Every DSMP member’s character race (with short explanations)

Dream: It is unclear if his character is human or a blob-monster. He has referred to himself as “like a God” but is not canonically a proper deity. CC!Dream has said he prefers the human interpretations of his character but also enjoys the eldritch horror/blob depictions.

DreamXD: Supposedly a God. They have been referred to as the “protector God of the lore” and have constant access to creative mode.

George: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!George’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. Fanon interpretations of C!George as a mushroom sprite or fairy are common (due to his previous aesthetic choices).

Sapnap: While he appears human, there have been multiple implications that his character is some sort of fire related monster hybrid. He has claimed to have been born from lava and that fire can not hurt him because of this. The most common fanon interpretation has lead to depictions of a blaze-hybrid Sapnap, however, magma cubes/ghasts/striders or any creature with fire-themes not included in Minecraft could also work for his character.

Callahan: He could be a human in a costume, or he could be a reindeer hybrid! It’s unclear. When citing other “sheep-like” hybrids on the server, Puffy did not list Callahan, however, her character does not know Callahan very well if at all so this may not be conclusive evidence one way or the other.

Awesamdude: It is heavily implied that he is a creeper hybrid! While CC!Sam has not made much comment one way or the other, multiple characters have been seen wearing creeper heads while doing “Sam impressions”. In one instance Tommy confused an actual creeper for “Sam Nook”, a robot built with a strong resemblance to Sam himself. This implies that C!Sam looks almost identical to normal creepers, however, fanon interpretations have depicted him as varying levels of humanoid.

Sam Nook: Canonically a robot built by C!Awesamdude to assist C!Tommy with the construction of The Big Innit Hotel. Due to Tommy mistaking a real creeper for the robot, we are lead to believe the robot looks very similar, if not identical, to the mob in his design.

Alyssa: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Alyssa’s race. She is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Ponk: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Ponk’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Badboyhalo: He is canonically a demon. CC!Bad has also claimed his character is canonically over 9 feet tall.

Tommy: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Tommy’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. His familial relationships are unclear and many fanon interpretations depict his character with bird wings (similar to C!Philza) or demonic features (as a jab at his “gremlin” personality).

Tubbo: It is heavily implied that he is part sheep, goat, or ram hybrid. CC!Tubbo hasn’t really acknowledged this one way or the other, however, other characters have made reference to it. Such as C!Puffy naming him in her list of other “sheep-like” hybrids on the server, in which she also mentioned that he has small horns. Fanon interpretations of his character often include horns, ears, and tails resembling that of sheep, goats, rams, and in some cases even cows.

Fundy: It is unclear whether or not C!Fundy is actually a fox or just a normal guy in a fursuit. Multiple characters have made stronger implications towards the former, however, jokes are often made at CC!Fundy’s expense indicating the latter. Most fanon interpretations depict him as a full anthropomorphic fox if not just a humanoid with strong fox features.

Punz: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Punz’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Purpled: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Purpled’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Wilbur: He is supposedly a regular human man and is often depicted as such, however, due to his biological relations to both C!Philza and C!Fundy we know that he likely has strong inhuman genetics. Fanon interpretations will sometimes depict his character with wings (due to his relationship to C!Philza) or as a pig(lin) hybrid (due to comments made by CC!Wilbur implying he is C!Techno’s twin).

Schlatt: It is implied that he is part sheep, goat, or ram hybrid. CC!Schlatt has acknowledged this by previously using a ghost skin that included glowing red ram’s horns. C!Puffy also included him in her list of other “sheep-like” hybrids on the server, in which C!Bad posited that he’s more of a ram than a sheep due to his curled horns.

Skeppy: It is implied that he is some sort of animated diamond creature. Jokes have been made about his character being canonically 2 feet tall, however, CC!Skeppy never canonized that himself. Fanon interpretations often depict his character as a human with partially crystalline features or a sort of sprite (due to the height jokes).

Eret: Their character is mainly humanoid in nature, however, they canonically have glowing white eyes and are a descendant of herobrine. So it is assumed they aren’t actually a human.

Jack Manifold: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Jack’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Niki: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Niki’s race. She is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Quackity: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Quackity’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. Many fanon interpretations of his character depict him as a duck hybrid (due to CC!Quackity’s brand connection) or as a shapeshifter (referencing CC!Quackity’s frequent comedic in-game skin changes).

Mexican Dream: There have been no deep in-character discussions about Mexican Dream’s race. Originally fans believed MD to have just been C!Quackity due to his role being played by and through CC!Quackity’s account, however, the writers have made it clear that MD is a separate entity entirely. It is unclear if he is a human or a blob-monster, like C!Dream. Many fanon interpretations depict this character as C!Quackity in a C!Dream costume.

Karl Jacobs: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Karl’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise. Some fanon interpretations of his character depict him as a strange colorful lanky monster (referencing his original skin on the server).

HBomb: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!HBomb’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Technoblade: He is canonically either a pig hybrid or a piglin hybrid. Multiple characters have called him a pig or implied that him eating pork would be cannibalism. He has referred to the piglins in the Nether as his “people”, however, CC!Techno has done the same outside of the DSMP. C!Phil has also claimed that C!Techno goes into “hibernation” when CC!Techno is unavailable on the server. Fanon interpretations of his character often depict him as a full pig(lin) hybrid but some depict him as simply a humanoid wearing a boar’s skull. CC!Techno has said he prefers the animal depictions of his character but he is fine with the “anime boy” depictions as well.

Antfrost: It is heavily implied that he is a cat or cat hybrid. Multiple characters have referred to him as a cat and jokes have been made about him either being canonically 9+ feet tall or the size of a regular house cat. Fanon interpretations often depict his character as an anthropomorphic cat if not a humanoid with strong cat features.

Philza: It is canon that C!Phil had fully functional wings at some point but lost them during his first day on the server. It is unclear whether or not he is a bird hybrid or some other entity. He has also claimed to be hundreds of years old, however, he is not immortal or a God. He simply survived for a very long time with his first two lives and is now on his last.

Connor: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Connor’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

Puffy: She is canonically a sheep hybrid. Her own character has made reference to this fact multiple times and it has been acknowledged by other characters as well. Fanon interpretations often depict her character as an anthropomorphic sheep if not a humanoid with strong sheep features.

Vikkstar: There have been no deep in-character discussions about C!Vikk’s race. He is assumed canonically human until proven otherwise.

LazarBeam: He is supposedly a sentient human-sized gingerbread man. Not many acknowledgments have been made about this fact outside of it being his character’s skin.

Ranboo: He is canonically half-enderman and half something unknown. Both of these facts have been acknowledged by other characters as well as CC!Ranboo himself. While his other half is still not confirmed in canon, CC!Ranboo has commented that he has hinted to it multiple times in character already. Many fanon interpretations depict his character’s other half as a ghast or a dreamon.

Foolish: He is canonically a humanoid totem of undying. It is unclear if the shark attributes on his skin are a onesie/cloak or part of his actual design. It has also been confirmed that his character is a deity of undying (formerly death), the ocean, and the desert. He is the only other confirmed (demi-)god of the server aside from DreamXD. It is unclear why he decided to live among the mortals or if there are other Gods elsewhere that he knows.

Hannah: Her character is mainly humanoid in nature, however, she canonically gets power from roses and has vines of them supposedly growing from her body and hair. It is unclear what her origins are but we are lead to believe that she is not human. Some fanon interpretations depict her character as a fairy or minor-deity of the forest/nature.

Slimecicle: He has made implications of being part slime hybrid. C!Tommy referred to his slime as “gunk on (him)” which implies that his body is mainly humanoid in consistency and color with only bits of actual slime across it. It is also implied that his bones are very malleable, as C!Ranboo hit him and accidentally turned his ankles around.

And so... Elizabeth’s story draws to a close. This has been a difficult segment to tell, but, I’m proud of my work. It is hard to tell, due to shortcomings in our comic lettering program, but Baby is singing in that first panel, 1981′s ‘Under Pressure’ by Queen and David Bowie. There were a lot of contenders that fit well, too. I apologize if there’s any delays in the next page, I have managed to injure my back on top of general depression and executive dysfunction, so... Fun. But, I’ve been cleared to talk a bit about some thoughts we’ve been tinkering with, considering new information, especially pertaining to the Fazbear Frights story ‘Black Bird’ ... The main character’s name is Samuel. There’s only one other instance of that name, and, granted FNaF does repeats on names often, but his mother also has such a specific skill... Fabricating realistic, animatronic feet. Now, I’ve been a part of crafting FNaF costumes, as well as general fursuit covering, and this is no small task. Smoothly laying fabric to a foam base with minimal visible seams or wrinkles takes skill, skill a typical craft-oriented mother doesn’t just pick up. Just a bit of food for thought. And... It seems rather interesting, that Vanessa’s last name starts with A...

Random Haikyuu Head Canons I Have

these are all taken from my discord server cause i remember to write them there, if you want to request fanfics, my requests are W I D E open! there is also nO order! these are just all the headcanons i could find tbh

Asahi loves knitting sweaters because his shoulders are broad and he also loves seeing the reactions from his teammates when they get a sweater from him! He says he buys them but he doesn’t

Aone likes knitting socks because he has big feet and he loves fluffy knee high socks but his team will never know

Asahi and Aone regularly hang out and knit together! (after asahi wasnt scared of him anyways)

Nishinoya gives you shiny rocks he finds because “your eyes shine like them!”

Yamaguchi likes to have your head rest on his chest while cuddling!

Speaking of cryptids, Fukunaga and Shibayama are THE most true crime, mythology, and mystery obsessed fanatics on the team and often fanboy about it together

Fukunaga’s obsession with moth man has gotten to an unhealthy stage

Kenma absolutely had a vampire phase and has read twilight. Only Kuroo knows and has sworn to secrecy via blood pact

Kuroo’s a musical nerd. Knows all of the lyrics to Hamilton, BMC, DEH, Heathers, Rent, Beetlejuice, Etc. Kenma considered dropping him because of it

Iwaizumi tells the worst dad jokes and Kyotani, wanting to beat him, started doing it too and it drives everyone insane

Yahaba and Matsukawa get along surprisingly well. Both are true crime freaks and bond over their forensic files obsessions

Matsukawa didn’t really like his thick eyebrows so he got one of his female friends to pluck it for him, but almost cried and gave up after the first hair. Oikawa called him a pussy for the next year

Hanamaki jokingly flirts with everyone on the team so most of them just got used to it, but it still confuses Kindaichi to the point of mental breakdown

Makki called Kyotani ‘puppy’ as a joke once and now mad dog is truly terrified of him

Kyotani’s dog absolutely ADORES Oikawa and it’s the funniest shit to the rest of the team

Mattsun and Makki play DnD and once convinced Yahaba and Kyotani to join. Kyotani kept rolling to fight everyone and Yahaba was a bard that kept rolling to seduce everyone. They kept yelling across the board so they had to kick them out

Outside of his school uniform, Goshiki specifically wears only plaid

Tendou makes little chocolates for the whole team every once in a while so they don’t think he’s scary

Semi and Shirabu once had a fistfight in an abandoned McDonald’s parking lot while Tendou filmed and Goshiki cheered them on

Everybody makes fun of Shirabu’s haircut but nobody dares to say it to his face. its gotten to the point where they say he got it done by a blind old lady

There’s a running joke about Shirabu also getting his haircut from prison but Goshiki is starting to suspect that it may not be a joke

Yamagata and Tendou are good friends with the mutual goal of collecting as much blackmail on their team as possible

Tendou loves animals generally considered to be ‘ugly’ like rats, crows, reptiles, etc.

Barked at people in high school ironically but it became unironic real quick

Can’t cook very well but is good with a knife, especially at a fast pace

One of those kids who either purposely spells the first word wrong in a spelling bee to just be done with it right away or tries the hardest and manages to win (there is no inbetween for this heathen)

Bites ice cream with his teeth

Has snorted pixie stix far too many times and sneezed blue after each time

Has taken a bite out of a pool noodle because he liked the texture and impulsively bit it (ADHD things✨😌)
