I keep seeing gifs of the 2001 version and Reboot of Fruits Basket and I still can't believe they were the same show but completely different.. not just the design of it but the overall plot.

Just baffled at how 600 people can find it funny when someone who is struggling with trauma, guilt, and suicide thoughts is blamed, harassed, and bullied. Especially in a fandom of a show that addresses trauma and abuse. But hey, the author herself intended so, so I guess it's really just me 🤷‍♀️

So glad that whole arc was cut in the anime.

man consuming furuba canon I liked Yuki/Kakeru best among Yuki/boy ships and Yuki/Kyo was like my bottom pick but since reboot anime gave yukeru an actual fandom I've found I like yukyo fandom's take on Yuki characterization so much more that they're almost slowly switching places

Yuki/Haru fandom's take on Yuki is the least good of the three but they have so little content or discussion around them it does nothing to impact their standing in my heart

#furuba #the thing is that the majority of yukeru fandom is dissatisfied with canon #so they want to alter parts of it #which is fair enough and it's working as intended but they alter parts I actually like. #Yuki becoming more aggressive and assertive isn't that convenient to other yukeru fans' agenda #because they want to uphold a more equal relationship. but ironically in doing so they strip Yuki back down to more mild/passive again #otoh Yuki becoming more aggressive and assertive is a direct counterpoint to Kyo's arc of becoming more soft #so yukikyo fans preserve that aspect more
