Does Toasty's text RPG exist in any form outside of Bloomic? I keep finding myself wanting to play it and then having to remind myself it's fictional.
It does not, but we want to make something like it in the future. In the meantime, here are some alternatives:
Roadwarden is a text-adventure "grim fantasy" game with minimal graphics made in renpy. I played the demo a while ago and liked it a lot!
Tumblr media
AI Dungeon is probably closer to the experience in bloomic if you use the basic adventure mode, but I have mixed feelings about rec'ing it anymore ever since 2022 bc of everything going on with AI. Back in the day, though, it was a pretty unique little AI generated experience with not a lot of baggage. Below are screenshots from the 2019 version. I never played, but I watched others who did.
Tumblr media
The Pilgrimage is a text parser adventure alternative that has a similar retro minimalistic look. I just found out about this game right now, but it sounds pretty interesting. Lots of talking with people in a town, some drinking, and many, many shenanigans.
Tumblr media
Lifeline is a rec if you are a mobile gamer. Save an astronaut from certain death through real time text exchanges. I played this many years ago, and it's probably a game that defined part of my type of game design.
Tumblr media
Gateway is a great game for anyone looking for an old-school text parser game. I haven't played this one, but it frequently comes up in conversations when I'm looking for text adventure games.
Tumblr media
There's a bunch more out there! If you search for "text-parser" games, you'll get that "type in and see what happens" experience.

I feel like a recent years have shown that fan reaction has influenced the way Sega handles Sonic in some ways. Frontiers for example in a lot of ways feels like a reaction to complain. So a lot of fans have had about mainline Sonic games.
With that said what do you think about Sega making a multi-character 3D action game Sonic and then slapping it on a platform that has some of the least amount of player reach despite being a mainline platform?
I would be very curious to know more about the development behind Dream Team for sure, but as far as I'm aware the game was more than likely made specifically for Apple Arcade from the very start with heavy involvement from Apple, rather than being a project Sega was shopping around that just so happened to end up as an Apple exclusive.
I have to assume that this game would not exist at all if it wasn't an Apple Arcade project. Hardlight is very much Sega's mobile game division first and foremost, so it's unlikely (if not impossible) that Sega would've had them working on a 3D Sonic platformer for consoles and PC when that's Sonic Team's job. And Apple Arcade's subscription revenue is basically the only home for mobile games that aren't chock full of ads, microtransactions, and wait timers these days. So while it could theoretically get ported elsewhere in the future, it's unlikely that Dream Team ever would've gotten made for any other platform.
Like, there are already two Sonic games on Apple Arcade. Sonic Racing (based off of TSR) was one of the earliest releases for the service and has always been heavily promoted as one of Apple Arcade's flagship games. Later they also did Sonic Dash+, a version of the existing endless runner game with the ads and microtransactions stripped out. I have to assume that these games have done well on Apple Arcade, and Apple simply looked at that and went "Hey, what if we got them to make us an ORIGINAL Sonic game?" Apple Arcade also appeals pretty heavily to parents who want their kids to have something to play on their iPads that isn't cram full of microtransactions, and Sonic remains extremely popular with kids.
But beyond that, why they landed on a full 3D platformer with SIX playable characters, some amount of story, and a new style of level design that takes some influence from skate parks? Who knows. Maybe some folks at Sega Hardlight were just dying to make something like that, and the Apple gig was their opportunity to make it happen after so many years being stuck working on glorified Skinner boxes. Or maybe Apple thought a 3D platformer would be good to diversify their portfolio. Again, I'd be very curious to learn more
(Also, honestly, as annoyed as I am that I have to play Dream Team on my iPad instead of my PC or a console, I do find the talking point that "no one will be able to play it" extremely silly. There are billions of iPhones, iPads, Mac computers, and to a lesser extent Apple TVs out there. Billions. With a B. Apple Arcade reportedly had over 100 million users last year. That's quadruple the number of subscribers Game Pass had, even though if you asked the average gamer they'd probably assume Game Pass was the more popular one! Exclusivity is always frustrating, and I sympathize with folks annoyed that they don't have any devices that can play it, but the fandom deciding that "only six people will be able to play this" is completely divorced from reality.)

Hey Hazel,
During the F1 Austria GP weekend, it was occasionally mentioned that the paddock was being powered by solar panels and biofuels as a test of their low-carbon energy systems, or something like that. When I heard that, my first thought was to ask an expert (you) if you had heard anything about that and if the biofuel was something Actually Good or if this is more or less some PR fluff type thing.
Heya,
I actually meant to write about this but then got booked to cover the Spa 24h for Speedcafe and money had to take precedence.
So what they were trialling was a system that runs all the motorhomes and garages, so everything from tyre warmers and the teams’ data systems to, idk, emotional support gamer lights in the driver rooms or whatever.
That’s more power than the circuit will have by being plugged into the national grid, so there’s a need for other power generation. Diesel generators have been the reliable form of choice for mobile events because they’re easy to transport, their fuel is easy to transport, they’re low maintenance and they run consistently. Festivals, sporting events, anything where you need impromptu power they’ve been the answer for decades.
The Austria trial was to replace that with a realistically portable system that F1 can take to tracks without their own on-site, sustainable solutions (some places, like Paul Ricard, already have solar installed) and to make sure it was feasible both in terms of delivering enough power and in being rigged/set up.
Biofuel as a replacement for diesel is pretty good. Diesel is very, very dirty - even burned at low temperatures and steadily in generators. So replacing it with HVO100 (made from hydrogenated vegetable oil which can either be waste product or made from non-food-grade biomaterials) is a significant improvement.
Mercedes recently switched to it in all their trucks for the European rounds and even just the 4% reduction in tailpipe emissions, compared to fossil diesel, will represent somewhere around 23.5 tons less carbon emitted.
But on a full life-cycle of taking fossil fuels out of the ground, transporting, refining and transporting them again it’s a justifiable 70% reduction overall. Some people say 90 but I think it’s better to err towards the lower end - although given how filthy fossil fuel extraction is and the potential for methane emitted at-site, etc, the life cycle emissions are always much worse than you’d estimate anyway.
Solar, especially with a good battery setup, is of course another great use. Portable solar panels are very feasible, given what F1 is already lugging around (about 30 trucks per team...) so that’s valid.
It seems to have been a success, in the sense I didn’t hear about any random garage blackouts or issues. So hopefully that’s a good infrastructural development for future events.

Soo…. Yeah, like a lot of other fans I’m pretty devastated by the emptiness of Fashion Dreamer.
While I think it’s unfair to compare it to the Style Savvy series, since it technically doesn’t belong to it, it’s still objectively a bad game for its price point. It’s a mobile game. I feel like I’m playing a worst version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
This is a common issue with “girly” franchises nowadays, these new releases are often incomplete and feel hollow compared to customization and freedom we would get from flash games on the internet for free.
Another example that comes to mind is the Bratz game that recently came out that was… also, funnily enough, compared to a mobile game. Much, much worse than Fashion Dreamer, let me just say that, but compared to the gameplay of Imagine, Barbie, and its own predecessors it’s flat-out cheap.
It feels like big companies are taking advantage of desperate gamers looking for nostalgic and/or cozy experiences, knowing they can get by just fine doing the bare minimum. I sincerely hope that there will be indie games in the future that are able to compete with this hollow market.

To my very first anon who requested Fontaine ask, I am very sorry to say that unfortunately I have no clue about genshin. I know the characters because I fell for them and I try to learn about them as much as I can, but the world building and stuff is something I do not know well because I am much too poor to play the game. And I don't mean too poor to afford the game, I know it is free to play on mobile and such. What I mean is that I cannot afford to upgrade my phone because the mobile app is not supported by it, PC, or get a PS4 or PS5 to play the game. I have wanted to play this game since my favorite animator got dragged into the genshin impact hole, but I literally have nothing to play it on. I could watch others play it to get an idea but I like to play the game myself because there are always little details that gamers miss that could be good writing material for future fanfics.
So I'm very sorry that I couldn't answer your ask, it would've been spoilers for me, but if you have another ask, feel free to send it. Heck, feel free to drop some lore on me or some headcanons on your fave genshin characters!

Reasons why Stardew Valley is the best role-play game and farming simulation game to ever be invented!
I have been playing Stardew Valley for 2 years now. Although I am late in the game, the community has welcomed me regardless. These are the reasons why I love Stardew Valley and why I think it is the best game to ever be invented.
An opinion blog by strawberrymatchagurl.
It is available across multiple consoles -- For a whopping $14.99 you can get Stardew Valley on the Switch, Xbox, PC, and Mobile.
You can do multi or single-play -- According to the official stardewiki.com which is managed by the creator of the game, there is an option for 1-4-person gaming.
You can create multiple saves/accounts -- As a cozy gamer myself, perhaps one of the most frustrating things about video games is having to commit to only one saved file. Like Animal Crossing New Horizons which allows you to only have one island per console, Stardew Valley offers quite the opposite. One of the reasons might be because of the extensive 7 farm maps that you could choose from.
Tumblr media
It teaches you about the economy and math -- You heard that right. You are given 2 routes to choose from for the first initial quest. Either complete the community center (wherein you collect items to donate to the community center which in return unlocks certain items) OR the infamous Joja Mart route (wherein you succumb to capitalism, support mega-corporation similar to you buy your way into completing the quest by
You are given multiple choices and have creative freedom -- It has the same feels that the same Sims has in a way where you can decorate your farm in addition to all the fun things you can achieve.
youtube
You farm, mine, and fish, You basically become the avatar and eventually master all five elements -- It's what I would like to call a game that "never a dull moment" because of all the chores or quests that you could do. It will keep you interested for the long run.
You can practice your social skills whether it be platonic or romantic -- Although you do not need to focus on creating and maintaining these relationships, there are over 36 villagers for you to bond with ranging from your girl next door, a cute loving grandma all the way to a mysterious wizard in the forest.
Speaking of romance, you have 16 bachelors to choose from to marry -- I personally have had multiple saves but dated and married the same character, Penny. She is the love of my in-game life and there are many advantages and disadvantages you could have in a partner.
It is ever evolving with the latest version of 1.6 being teased by the creator "ConcernedApe" himself -- After the addition of Ginger Island in version 1.6, ConcernedApe decided to make new additions to the game to be released in the near future.
The community is so tight-knit despite the fact of how huge it is -- The community stretches from creators making tips and guides on YouTube to hilarious memes on Facebook and inside jokes from Reddit. I have never seen a community are some of my favorite links for you to participate within the Stardew Community so you can officially become a part of Pelican Town :3

tuesday again 8/9/22
this time next week i will be free from the video game data mines. do i have anything else lined up yet? no :)
listening jovian by artisan. i opened the wretched clock application to view a short film of a buff woman my sister procured for me, and this was in the first couple videos on the main page or whatever. a very cool jet set radio/cowboy bebop/future jazz sound with an elevator music interlude???!? i adore this. i want it to be out now.
so i went and listened to all his other stuff, which is very different. jovian is my favorite, big gustav horst The Planets suite vibes, mostly i think it sounds like a point-and-click adventure game about a generation ship with elves.
-
reading not far enough into The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett to have real opinions, but i adore the movie so i have high hopes. this was one of my new year's eve movies- every new year's eve i start a new-to-me black and white movie around 1130 so im still watching it as it turns into the new year. the thin man (1934, dir Van Dyke) was one of those movies. top five black and white movie for me honestly
-
watching watched Angel and the Badman (1947, dir Grant). this one, like High Noon and Shane, succeed bc they don't super need to be a western. by that i mean the very barebones plot stands on its own. what a hopeful, if at times trite, little film!
any time we are not on a soundstage it feels like a movie from about a decade earlier, what with its shot and framing choices. like ENORMOUS serial vibes (like the types of movie Roy/Lee Pace does stunts for in The Fall) as people and horses scramble down various slopes to stirring music. people fall into some water from a height. there's a plot relevant waterfall. that kind of thing. did like this bit very much, which is far, far less homoerotic in context. this was a perfectly adequate little movie but i don't feel the need to ever rewatch it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
how'd i come across this: dunno. definitely not one i watched with my dad growing up. i think it keeps popping up as like a Good American Western and i want to encourage my library to add more westerns to their streaming service.
-
playing hey remember when i said i liked playing that goofy little zombie mobile game state of survival bc i didn't have to talk to anyone in order to do the multiplayer part? well that little group of players dissolved, and holy fucking shit everyone on the specific server i am on is fucking insane. it's not a baby gamer thing bc a lot of people are talking about their spouses, and it's not even really a classic gamer toxicity thing, there's just so much fucking catty backstabbing? absolutely exhausting. i don't seem to be able to change servers :( but i have been playing this on and off for about a month and bought exactly one two dollar "unlock something permanently" slot so it's not a huge loss if i need to find a new "make the numbers go up" game. absolutely bizarre little player ecosystem in this game tho.
-
making going to be extremely late with all the yee.hawgust stuff this month bc it is very hot out and i am very busy :(
also i don't like saying that i impulse bought a pet, bc i do have a perfectly good cycled ten gallon tank, it's just that the betta fish i walked out of the store with is So Small and cannot be in the ten gallon tank. i need to be able to find it and make sure it's eating. this has unlocked a sidequest of Locate Brine Shrimp (100x) because this tiny creature does not recognize crushed pellets as food and is too small for finely chopped bloodworms. i am hoping that in about 24h it WILL recognize crushed pellets as food and is simply stressed the fuck out. which, fair.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Sequel in Development, Says Movie Insider
Tumblr media
Fans of The Hogwarts Legacy, be on the lookout: it was only recently disclosed that a sequel is presently in the process of being produced, and when it is published, it will take the series to greater heights than it has ever reached before.
Hogwarts Legacy sequel
MyTimeToShineHello, a well-known movie insider who is also recognized for their amazing track record when it comes to exposing facts about the film industry, is the one who leaked the information. In spite of the fact that the leaker did not reveal a lot of data, it is fair to infer that the leaker has sources within Warner Bros. given that he has previously exposed a variety of pieces of content that came from the studio. In other words, it is acceptable to think that the leaker has sources inside Warner Bros.
Because this is the first time we’ve heard of a prospective sequel, we aren’t very familiar with the intricacies of it. However, we do know that it would be set in the future. Despite this, a second installment of the Hogwarts Legacy series was certain to be developed at some time in the future since the first game in the series was such a huge commercial success.
This game had its best year ever in terms of sales, bringing in a grand total of $1.3 billion in revenue as a result of its popularity. When we evaluated the game, we were impressed by what Warner Bros. brought to the table, especially when it came to developing an engaging and interesting game that was set in a well-known fantasy setting.
Since the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, has already made a remark about the company’s devotion to develop a “perfect” game, even if doing so would come with a tradeoff in terms of production time, one should not think that a release date will be revealed in the near future. Instead, one should not anticipate that an announcement about the release date will be made in the far future.
If we do not think that a certain movie or video game is the culmination of our best efforts, then we will not make it available to the general public. Even if we are successful fifty or seventy percent of the time, it is not going to be worth our effort to continue with this plan.
However, the company has recently embraced this point of view as the foundation of its new cultural philosophy. The recounting of tales is what our company does for a living. The members of our team with the most original ideas are constantly toiling away to enhance our content and make it the very best that it can be.
Taking into consideration the average development cycle for a triple-A video game, it is conceivable that we will not be able to purchase Hogwarts Legacy 2 for at least three to four years
While we wait for the second edition, you may play the original one on a number of different consoles and devices, such as personal computers, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One. The game’s original release date of July 25 has been moved back by four months, and it won’t be available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch device until the month of November.
Quidditch, the sport that is featured in Harry Potter, is going to be the focus of a new video game that is now in development for both personal computers and gaming consoles. This is sure to excite fans of the Harry Potter series. SCP#: AFO
Code Name: Lunar Cat Church Merchandise
Object Class: Joke/Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-AFO has been contained at Site-AB and locked in a 5x5 meter room. It is placed on a podium with a glass container over it, the glass is laced with memetic patters preventing anyone from viewing SCP-AFO to suffer its effects. Testing with SCP-AFO is not permitted as the Foundation already knows the full extent of its anomalous effects.
Description: SCP-AFO is a small statue of 20cm in height and 8cm in width, it is a has a square black marble base, with a flat hollow metal crescent on top of it with a flat metal shape of a cat sitting on the crescent. on the marble base is a metal plate that states "praise the cat for they are the messengers of the moon. The moon see's all, believe in the moon and you'll see too."
When someone views SCP-AFO without proper Cognito-Hazard protection gear they will become worshipers of the "Lunar Cat Church". This effect applies to everyone who views it from any place at any time, even viewing it form a photo or video places the view under its anomalous effects. Worshipers of this religion worship the moon, take great care of cats, tries to adopt new cats, and even make and sell merchandise based on the religion.
When someone views SCP-AFO they claim that by looking directly at the moon they can see visions of the future and the past. Anomalous events relating to SCP-AFO confirm this to be true such as worshipers solving old crime cases with no evidence, saving others form disastrous events, and even winning the lottery. The number of visions worshipers have typically depended on how many cats they have. This also leads to a secondary anomalous effect relating to the cats owned by the worshiper.
Cats owned by a worshiper will also become under the anomalous effect of SCP-AFO. Cats under the anomalous effect will have glowing eyes and the ability speak. They normally end up speaking about "missions" that the moon has for them. These missions typically include making merchandise for the church, protecting important people, and spreading the "wisdom" of the moon. Thankfully the merchandise they make has no anomalous properties and therefore are not a threat. Targeted "important" people are either talented and/or rich people that could owe the church some favors. Spreading the "wisdom" of the moon, normally just amounts to spreading quotes about the future, past, cats, the moon, and just creating memes relating to the church.
SCP-AFO was discovered in 2018 when a sudden surge of moon and cat relate merchandise was being sold in [data expunged], Canada. Every item and purchase lead to the city [data expunged], Foundation agents eventually found SCP-AFO within an abandoned warehouse surrounded by worshipers. However, they were quickly placed under its spell and thus were compromised. Later Mobile Task Force Eta-10 "See No Evil" was deployed and was able to take SCP-AFO with surprisingly no resistance. However, after it was retrieved form where it was placed, a paper was found.
There have been religions that praise cats, there have been religions that praise the moon.
Yet there's never been a religion that praises both? Why is that?
Maybe it's time for a change, maybe it's time for a new era, maybe it's time to praise both! And maybe its time to make a quick buck off it.
But maybe that's just us losing our minds, after all, we're just Zealots on Crack!
For those who are unaware, Zealots on Crack is a small Group of Interest that split off the much larger GoI: Are We Cool Yet? quite similar to GoI: Gamers Against Weed. They are actually a more chaotic group of interest that like to create anomalous items and entities that always revolve around the aspect of religion one way or another. Like SCP-AFO the anomalies they produce are typically harmless and at best are a joke and at worst a potential BM Class Broken Masquerade Scenario, but rarely do they ever cause any physical harm to the public. However, this is not to say that such a scenario is impossible, it has been seen in the past that Zealots on Crack have made demonic and sacrificial religions especially religions relating to the "Abyss".
Efforts are currently underway to find out if it's possible to cure the people who have fallen under the effects of SCP-AFO. Besides that, efforts to stop the media from spreading information about SCP-AFO is conducted by Mobile Task Force Dionysus-1 "Fake News". The nature of SCP-AFO was fully revealed during its discovery and containment as such testing has not been permitted or deemed necessary.
