Sorry if this was covered in the doc or other answered questions, but if it was I wasn't able to find it.

The doc said multi chapter fics are welcome, so I was wondering how ya'll were going to post the fics. The doc said there would be check ins and such & it said everyone would be kept anonymous. I was wondering how ya'll were going to keep the authors anonymous & if the "posting date" was for posting the ENTIRE fic?

Like, if someone's writing a multi-chapter fic, do they post one chapter at a time, or wait for the posting day (Sept 19) and post all chapters at once? Or will it be posted chapter by chapter with the check ins?

That's my main question, but I was also wondering if it was fine if the fic we post is inspired by another (whether it's a single scene/idea prompt/ or what). I feel like we all take inspiration from each other, but if there's any specific fic we were inspired by, should we make that clear from the beginning, and/or should we have the "inspired by: X" on the fic when it's posted?

Hope my ramblings don't sound insane, and that I'm not repeating the FAQ (which I promise I read) verbatim. I don't know if I'll be participating, but I'm just trying to not get in trouble lol. I'm a bit new to writing fanfic, so I hope my questions aren't THAT obvious lmao. Anyway, Hope ya'll are having a great weekend :D

You will not post any of your fic until posting day. You do not need to post it all at once unless you want to. You can update a chapter a day or update as you see fit. You can post a chapter everyday on posting week. If you wanna yo go beyond that, just contact a mod to let them know.

As long as your work is new and not posted anywhere else, you can write prequels, sequels, or inspired by works. If you choose this route, yes please let us know.

Abby/Max :(

This thought has been brewing in the back of my mind for a very long time now, and I feel that, as a certified Abby defender, I must say it.

Abby/Max is toxic. Obviously it's not Abby/Press levels of toxic, but I have this theory that the writers originally intended for MANG to be a complete mess (which they are) but for Ginny to eventually completely drop them and never come back, never have that apologetic reunion etc. I reckon it wasn't until they expanded a bit more on Max and Abby (god knows if they'll ever give Norah an actual story arc) that the writers decided they wanted to keep the friend group around. BUT I also believe that you can see little sprinkles of the original idea with MANG in the existing version of the show.

That's the only way I could try to explain those odd scenes. One in particular comes to mind, and is in fact the entire reason I haven't been able to get this out of my head.

Yes that's right, jurors of the court, "Abby, why are you such an ADD nightmare?"

To those that have not spent their time watching "Abby Litman Scene Pack" videos and, god forbid, that "Sad Abby Litman Scene Pack" one, Abby, in quite normal friend fashion, tries to jokingly draw on Max's face and Max delivers the infamous line.

Abby is so visibly hurt and Max just does not give the slightest fck. And then the cut to Ginny who was laughing along before, her smile suddenly dropping at Max's words? Like dam, that hit me a little hard.

There's this dynamic with Max/Abby that gets more frustrating the more I think about it, and I think it's summed up really well in @/rahnesinclair's fic cool cool cool, fun fun fun (really good fic).

Abby is extremely insecure and Max doesn't care, and in fact often abuses that fact. Not on purpose, Max isn't a bad person (not like someone cough cough) but she takes and takes and takes, and simply gives nothing back. It especially bothers me that Max has supposedly been Abby's best friends since they were toddlers, and I worry that this is how their dynamic has always been. And just like in the fic, it completely crushes me that Max apologised only to Ginny and doesn't even think to apologise to Abby. (Abby really does have reason to be insecure in her relationship with Max, and I think it's so telling when you compare the way Ginny treats Abby in comparison)

Abby has convinced herself she needs Max (and, well, maybe in a way she does) so, just like with all the other problems in her life, she shuts up, sits down, and lets Max be the main character in both of their lives.

All that said, I do also believe the writers will resolve this (unless they forgot about it ;-;) and perhaps then I can go back to writing my MaxAbby fic in peace (I SWEAR TO GOD I REALLY WILL UPDATE IT, I HAVE A SCAFFOLD AND EVERYTHING). They have a habit of always hinting and hinting about Abby's upcoming storylines (Oh look, Abby's gone to the bathroom and doesn't want Ginny to come with her, oh look Abby keeps a stack of food with her in the bedroom, oh look Abby's looks a lil sad today, etc. etc.) but supposedly we've been told she will finally get attention from the writers in the third season (I have a whole list of things I want to see next season for Abby and if I don't get them i will riot) and I hope to see Max's "self-growth" extend towards Abby as well, and not just two very select people.

I know Press sucks... as a general rule. He's callous and cruel for no reason, and his comments and behaviors... definitely exacerbate Abby's eating disorder. (The biggest offense is definitely the Halloween party, where he calls her "whale legs" and has her compete against Samantha for his attention.) But... I feel like if they follow through what they've supposedly said and focus a lot more on Abby's storyline next season, Press might end up with some level of redemption. Not enough for me to ever root for him and Abby, but some level of redemption.

For one, we know that Press is not all bad. Yes, his actions in the show that we see make him seem like a total asshole, so he is definitely not a great guy. However, in season one, Ginny asks Hunter why he keeps Press around as a friend, and Hunter confides that Press was there when Hunter was dealing with his addiction. It's not elaborated on in much detail, but Press clearly helped Hunter a great deal with this, enough that Hunter still feels like he owes it to Press to keep him around. This happened before the series started, so we do not know exactly what happened, but it was clearly not insignificant.

Two, Press notices and comments on Abby taping her legs. I know a lot of people viewed this through the lens of Press's past comments, and I get that. That's what I did at first too. But having watched that clip a few times... he sounds concerned. The issue is not pushed, as Abby gets upset and tells him to shut up, and then that whole thing is largely forgotten for the rest of the season. Still, having listened to and watched that scene again several times, he really does sound like he is concerned.

He does call her "whale legs" again later, when they are making out in the bathroom at the party, but even that sounded less cruel than when he first said it. Not defending him using that term again, to be clear, more so trying to point out that he does not seem fully aware of how much words can hurt. He gets called out for being an asshole a lot, but never in any... meaningful way. Just snarky comments and angry tones. If Press is going to have any real redemption arc, he needs to seriously be called out for the way he behaves and the things he says, by someone he cares about. If they follow through with this sort of tease at him being the one to help her, maybe that will come from Abby, a sort of wakeup call that he cannot help her while also saying things that make her ED worse. But we shall see.

Anyways, I am just excited to see where this goes, and I just found it very interesting that they seem to be setting it up that Press will be the one to help Abby. We know he's good support sometimes, given what Hunter told Ginny in season 1, but we have yet to see it for ourselves. So maybe we will finally get to see Press beyond just the asshole that he usually is, maybe we will finally see why the group keeps him around.

And to be very, very clear, I am not trying to justify or excuse the things he has said and done. The way he has treated most of the characters in the show, especially Abby, has been absolutely disgusting. But he is still a character with a lot of potential, and I hope that they finally explore that in season 3 while they are exploring Abby's storyline.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I really??? don't get the hype for Georgia/Joe??? The show is clearly planting seeds for a slow-burn endgame kind of thing between them but I don't really see why they should have that???

As a character, yes, Joe is great. And he and Georgia do have a great friendship. You can really see how Georgia just relaxes whenever she sees him. And (especially in s1) they have entertaining scenes. But. It just really feels like Joe is endlessly pining whereas Georgia is really really not there. I feel bad for Joe, I pity him, but I can't really ship him with Georgia cause it all feels SO one-sided. And I agree with Cynthia that Georgia would eat Joe alive if they got together—despite the snarky comments here and there, Joe's a complete doormat when it comes to Georgia! They're not equals! Not really. Not unless Joe grows a gd backbone somepoint in seasons 3&4.

And then there's Paul. Paul, who is madly in love with Georgia, and it so so good for and to her and her kids, and who has the most adorable friendship with Zion. Paul, who Georgia clearly is madly in love with, who she loves enough that she told him almost everything about her past, all the ugly, really laid herself bare. Paul who holds Georgia accountable and doesn't put up with her bullshit, while still being the ultimate ride-or-die husband.

Like they said in the s2 finale, Georgia and Paul are a team, they're partners.

Literally the only way I see Georgia and Paul not ending up together at the end of the show without making the characters ooc is by killing off Paul. That's it. Nothing else makes sense to me.

And I really don't understand why that should have to happen just because Joe remembered a girl he spoke to for 0.2 seconds as a teenager and named a horse Milkshake
