“Can you keep it down?” I say, instead of yelling at them to shut the fuck up. They don’t even hear me. Whatever. I think Yoshi-Hashi shoots me a sympathetic smile, which just makes the whole thing worse, really. 

I let my head roll back on the pillow. Half of the stable gathered in the hotel room of the fearless leader of CHAOS. Team huddle, before the big tournament! Rah rah. And where is he anyways? In the bathroom, I think. I hear him arguing with Rocky. But that doesn’t matter. 

What matters is what I’m gonna say tomorrow. G1 Presser, on the stage, suit, sunglasses. Maybe chewing gum. That says ‘I don’t care’, doesn’t it? The knife feels like it might freak out the fans. Not that I care, I don’t. But I dunno, it’s Japan. I don’t want to cause an international incident. 

The bathroom door slams open. Out comes Rocky Romero, of Roppongi whatever the fuck fame. Looking a mess and – looking at me?  “I can’t talk him out of it, but I’m not going to help him do it.”

“What the hell are you on about, mate?” it feels forced, being buddy-buddy with Rocky. He’s not at my level, he doesn’t even wrestle. Just manager for the pretty-boy pair. 

He pinches his forehead, lets out a frustrated sigh. And then looks at me, straight in the eye. “Can you quit jerking off to your knives and help a friend out? Or is that beneath the Switchblade?”

“Well, yeah –” I start, because it is– 

“Wrong. I need your help, and Kazu needs someone to be a friend right now.”

I saw your Energon Universe spoiler talk after reading, and re: Bumblebee, I feel like personally my assumption is that this is gonna tie into like... the G1 cartoon vibes of it all, which is a continuity where "this dead character got rebuilt and is alive again!" stuff. I fully saw them shoot Bee and was like ahhhh this is the hook for exploring how Different they are from humans in that regard. I'm totally not sold it isn't a... not fakeout, but set up, ngl.

Yeah, you're probably right. Transformers will always be shackled to The Powers That Be (selling toys).

DWJ said he wanted to change things a bit because Bumblebee is everywhere, and the Hasbro agent asked if they could not have Bumblebee in the main cast before DWJ even brought the idea to him. But he does say, "they're Transformers, maybe they'll come back but not for a long time."

I thought about it more when I hit the pillow. At first I thought that the death was permanent because it was the hook of Sparkplug losing a son and Optimus losing the son-like Bee and because of Ratchet's wording regarding Jetfire of "can't stop the inevitable". And Optimus doesn't react to Bumblebee's state the same way he does to everyone else who's in disrepair. I still have a bit of hope is a permadeath (I love Bee, but I also love death)

But if they can repair everyone else, why not Bee? And that would still be potentially interesting dynamic between Sparkplug and Optimus. Sparkplug could resent Cybertronians for their ability to prevent loss, he could get catharsis out of helping OP get Bee back even if he can get his own son.

It really seems like we're going for an exploration of how different Transformers are from humans, which is right up my alley actually. I can't tell without dialogue, but I get the vibe from those pages that rather than just showing Optimus how fragile creatures in this planet are compared to him, it's also him realizing they can't be repaired. Honestly this whole "Let's do G1 but take it seriously, but not in a demeading way" looks very promising to me.

Side note, but I'm really enjoying all this Optimus whump, oh my god, this is what I came for.

5 CAT ELEMENT

The story takes place in a place called Elementia. Elementia has different regions, and all regions work as different countries with their own culture and goverments

Elementia is populated by anthro cats, so they're basically all furries. They act and talk like humans, and certain parts of their biology is very similar to humans. But they look like cats, and does not have to wear clothes, unless they want to

Almost every cat has a special magical power, which we call "elements". These elements can be anything, from as simple as fire or plant to as specific as candy or love. The range is super wide and diverse, so basically, anything is possible *glares at that one pillow element /lhj*. Cats inherit their elements from their parents, and usually have one element. Others can have two, we call these hybrids. Having three or more elements is also possible, but incredibly rare

Cats can have a wide palette of different appearences, mostly based on their element. This includes more unnatural colors and extra features; For example, water elements can have fins, scales and a fish-like tail. Plant elements usually have leaves as their hair and/or tail. And fire elements can use their fire as their hair and tail as a feature that can be turned on and off

Each element has its stengths and weaknesses. Dark-based elements (darkness, moon, night, shadow etc.) are much more sensitive to brightness, and light-based elements (light, day, sun) cannot handle darkness. Warmth-based elements (fire, lava, sun) are much more tolerant to heat, but very sensitive to cold. The opposite applies for cold-based elements (ice, snow). Nature-based elements (plant, flower, earth) are directly linked with nature, and it often has an effect on them (photosynthesis, feeling the "pain" of plants nearby, etc.). Hybrids can either combine these attributes, or be mutually exclusive

A rare thing that's completely independent from genetics, is when a cat is elementless (It's like winning the anti-lottery, if you watch anime, think of quirkless people from BNHA). The indicator of an elementless cat is that the paw-pad on their palms are pitch-black, regardless of their other colors.

These are the mortal cats. The other feline species in Elementia are; mercats and demons
