Nightshade Eyes [Reaper/Soldier:76] CHAPTER 3
Read on Ao3
A lithe figure hidden by a heavy cloak and hood stalked the shadows with a heavy bag tied around their waist. The eerie night brought a sense of peace as the lack of ghouls signalled another safe night: but it hardly brough comfort when the only protector was currently bedridden and dying in the house of their new resident.
The bag bounced as the stalker tried their best to go unnoticed as some decided to enjoy the night by standing idly outside of their abodes. The delivery was nothing to be ashamed of, and barely illegal outside of the castle’s territory, alas it was something they all pretend to ignore in a facade of if the king will not save us, then our offerings shall go to the Devil herself.
The cape got stuck on a thicket and the nearest resident (a strange jittery man with burn scars and a pennant for setting ghouls alight) cackled at the failed attempt at stealth.
“Ye being inconspicuous?” He dragged out the final word in an attempt to display his newfound vocabulary, courtesy of the nomadic scholar who frequently visits them.
The figure tried freeing their cape but failed as the thicket refused to let up. Frustrated and with little time to waste, the cape was ripped off and thrown to the floor revealing an irritated woman clad in tight impractical leather. Her fashion choice was an adaptation of exorcists’ mandatory attire, and she swore it instilled fear in those who saw her.
But she was not supposed to be seen.
“Oh look at you! Learned a new word, rat?” she sneered as he continued the cackle. The insult did little affect him and only fueled his laughter. She stepped forward to manually silence him, but the weight around her hips reminded her of her mission. He was dying. Deciding that the rat-man’s life was a lot more insignificant than his , she spat an ancient curse at him before bolting to the house on the hill.
No candlelight nor fire flickered in the windows, and she was reminded of Mei’s soft-spoken warning of the newcomer’s obstacle: he was without sight. Something easy to remedy, and yet the man who hails from the castle walls continues to live such a difficult life. If he were a smart man, he would travel to the Fae Forest and have them cure his unfortunate loss with little payment. Once, she asked the question of why the King and his men feared magic and she was promptly reminded of her orphanage which only confused her more, for her memories never went that far.
The house was quiet and a fear washed over her as she wondered if he was already dead. She raised her hand to her temple and gently pressed against the skin beside her eyebrow; a spark of electricity emitted from her fingertips and travelled down her body, to her legs and entering the ground at her feet. She followed the trail as it entered the house and connected with a barely alive body.
Relieved, she stalked around the house to where the pulse found him and was pleased to see that the newcomer did not vandalise the windows yet. It was a common practice to always board up your windows if you do not want visitors, the countryside etiquette took some time getting used to.
And to prove that, she carefully pried open the windowpane and effortlessly slid inside with the heavy bag carefully lifted to not accidentally puncture. If she had to go all the way back to get a new one, then she would have to count her losses and prepare the funeral for she saw no pleasure in returning to the Devil.
Inside, she spotted the forming corpse on a depressing bed and no one else in sight. Unsure if the newcomer would interrupt them, she first crept to the door and carefully locked it as she was shown to do in case of emergencies. The corpse coughed as he sensed her presence, or maybe he realised he was finally getting fed. Not wanting to waste time, she hurried over to the body on the bed and made work to detach the bag and pry it open.
Inside she carefully wrapped her hands around a wet, dying heart. Whose it was she never asked. She sent a spark through the organ and it beat once-twice to allow the remaining blood to expel from its orifices. The body groaned and leaned in towards the smell of fresh blood.
“Hurt yourself and I will be the one to explain to her why her child is dead you fool.” She spoke as she lifted the organ and held it just above his masked face. Another spark sent blood gushing out and she aimed it to slide past the well-concealed opening to his mouth. As soon as the blood made contact did his eyes shoot open and his body jerked towards her.
Throwing the heart at him she observed as he pushed aside his mask, and ignored the pain as it tugged at his flesh where it was forcibly embedded, and dug teeth and claws into the falsely pulsating organ and began devouring. He only growled and moaned as the tough flesh was ripped apart and slowly began disappearing down his throat. She wondered if they all fed the same way, but again she was reminded of his usual feeding etiquette: quiet, reserved, and ashamed.
The heart was gone almost as soon as she gave it to him, but she knew it would not be enough to take him back home. Fed, the body lied back down and gave a final sigh. His mask was still pushed aside and was tearing his skin apart at its current angle, but he had to wait before it could be returned to its place. Creeping closer once again, she pulled out a piece of cloth and did her best to clean the mess. He hated being dirty.
“ Gratias tibi… ” he groaned out in his ancient tongue. Although well-versed, she did not particularly enjoy conversing in the tongue of days passed. Finished, she carefully pulled at his mask to cover his face and listened as the skin slithered to pull it in deeper into its proper place.
“It is a pleasure you fool.” she noticed blood-soaked bandages across his chest from when he sat up to feed. She was hardly a healer herself, but even she could see that unskilled hands tried to tend to him. She undid them by retrieving a small but deadly blade and cleanly cut through them, revealing the wound which bound him to the sorrowful bed. At first she was confused, because a wound so small would hardly weaken him, but as she scanned his body she realised his neck was the problem: a deep cut was drawn almost all the way around, and if not for the immediate intake of fresh blood she was sure he would be spending some time to mend it.
“Your neck.” she said. He reached up a weak hand to touch at the wound and grumbled, “Boy.”
“I told you to stay away from him.”
“Attack. Me.”
“Which is why I told you to stay away. One would think a man of your age would have learned the ways of the world.”
“Young. Scared.”
She placed a hand over his mask, where his mouth should be, and only shook her head. Only he would try and chase down a rabid werebeast in an attempt to save them. Although she could barely remember when she met him, she knew he had done the same for her. He would always do that, risk his life to save others. It was a wonder the Devil was not bored with him yet.
“ Mama is scared. She thought you died. That fae was here for not long and she is clearly a healer. Did she heal you? Your wounds are worse.”
He nodded weakly and touched the wounds on his torso already beginning to heal. If she returned to the Devil tomorrow, he would be ready to come home in less than a moon-change.
“ Spurius discere debuit. ” His words made her turn her attention to the locked door. She almost forgot about the newcomer. From what she heard he was rather… unpleasant and would often growl and glare at whoever decided to come bother him. She tried to imagine him tending to wounds with the aid of the fae, and wondered why the poor bandaging was allowed by the healer. But it hardly mattered because she would go back to the Devil and have him healed before the King could be informed about his existence. The last thing they needed was another Knight trying to rid the world of evil. If only they knew.
She heard the distant cry of a crow and a flick of her faze confirmed that her time was running out. The night was still young, but the moonlight was making her weary since she had to forgo her cape. She made sure the blood did not stain the floor and pressed a kiss to the temple of the mask in farewell.
“Stay strong vetelus. ” the ancient word stung her tongue. She did not listen for a response and quickly jumped out of the window to return home.
… … …
The locket burned against his skin as he uselessly opened his eyes. It was sunrise. Jack could feel the warmth from the infiltrating sunrays and groggily pulled himself up from the uncomfortable cot he requested to be placed by the broken fireplace. He would rather be uncomfortable for the rest of his life than share a room with an exorcist.
He sat still and tried to listen for any evidence of the monster still being alive, but the only thing he could hear was the village waking up and an irritating cock announcing the sun’s visitation.
Angela depended on him to ensure the exorcist was alive, and no matter how hard he tried to fight against it, even he understood what it meant to simply let the thing die. He has killed many of their kind, and yet this was the first time he heard of people being fond of their existence. And if they were fond, then the probability of it having some relations were high.
And Jack would not like to fight off an angry village with or without sight.
He pulled himself up and out from his cot and made to check up on the corpse when a knock on his door stopped him. He has already threatened those who came to bother him, but the insistent knocking demanded attention and he was too weary to ignore it. Trying his best to navigate his unfamiliar surroundings, Jack came to the door and pulled it open to be met with a fist connecting with his collarbone. The contact sent a sharp tingle down his body and he hissed at the uncomfortable feeling.
“You are much taller than I expected! I thought old men were supposed to be tiny!” The voice was feminine and much too cheerful.
“What do you want?” He grunted out not wanting a visitor.
“I am here to check up on my, mmm, how can I say? Superior?”
He was not given a chance to respond as the stranger pushed past him and entered the house. He closed the door and turned to where he thought they were, but the location was quickly revealed:
“Hey vetelus! Wake up!” the voice came from the door to where the corpse resided, and Jack asked himself how the stranger knew, and knocked again on the door. He wanted to inform the stranger that the door was open, but a jingle of the doorknob confused him: he never locked the door.
“ Faex, I really would have liked to not go back to her.”
“Who are you?” Jack has had enough with all of these people infiltrating his deathbed. The others had the decency to at least enter respectfully and be pleasant, but this one was… it reminded Jack of the snivelling brats who would awe every time he paraded down the street clad in his armour and proudly held up the head of a recently slain exorcist.
“Hmm? How rude of me: Sombra, exorcist in training.” She took hold of his hand in an attempted greeting, but he pulled it back as the words registered. Exorcist in training.
“There’s more of you?”
“Oh, a non-believer? Let me guess, you were very happy when the Knights came back with a head?”
He kept himself quiet lest he reveal his true past. If there were two exorcists, then it could only mean him harm if his identity were revealed. His existence proved to be boresome as the young exorcist resumed her knocking and yelling. Jack was tempted to send again for Angela, but his pride would not allow him. He was the one who wanted to die, did he not?
What better way than for two exorcists to tear him apart?
“Hey-!” the yelling was cut off as the door was torn open and slammed loudly against the wall. A brief, yet eerie, silence overcame the house. Jack does not know the full extent of an exorcists’ abilities, although they had similarities the powerful and ancient ones had unique powers only granted when the Devil favoured them too much.
And he had no idea who the exorcists in his house were.
“At last.” the stranger, Sombra he refused to say, muttered and quick footsteps indicated that she entered the room with the monster. Curious, he followed and listened:
“Look at you, able to open doors are we?”
A grumble responded.
“Your neck looks better, but you might need more. Would you prefer a wildebeest this time?”
Your neck looks better. The words horrified Jack. The previous evening he was sure of an intruder, but he chalked it up to being paranoid at the evil in his evil. Angela once told him he was prone to hallucinations when she healed him, and he considered it to be a permanent side-effect.
“You! You broke in last night?” He spat.
“Me? Are old men not supposed to be deaf?”
“Sombra, shut up.” The third voice was unfamiliar but belonged to the only other presence in the room: the exorcist. Its voice was gluttral and sounded painful as it pushed out the words. The voice of a Devil’s child.
“Forgive me oh dear Re-”
“ Sombra. ” The words were harsh and Jack felt a chill run through his bones as the words echoed in his head. Whatever this exorcist was, it was powerful. Jack had heard tales of many exorcists, but the one that remained a favourite among the troops were the Devil’s First Child: a powerful ruler whose bloodlust turned them to discover the most evil power known to man. If the tales were true, then this exorcist is possibly the strongest creature alive.
“ Fine. Ungrateful bastard.”
There was a short, yet intense, whispering session before it abruptly stopped. A deep sigh, “Then I’ll see you tonight vetelus. ” The apprentice made to leave the house and stopped by Jack, he could feel her stare at him but he could not return the favour.
“Do not attempt to care for his wounds, you are sloppy and your lack of training only makes my life difficult.”
“Gladly.” he sneered at her.
He heard her footsteps fading, the front door opened and he was once again left in the company of the primary exorcist. Only this time, it was awake.
“Thank you for healing me.” The voice said in a low growl, the chill from earlier repeated. Jack did not want to speak with the thing, so he remained silent.
“I was unaware of someone moving in.” the exorcist spoke up again. “One would think I would be allowed to have my own home, but even they cannot see me as nothing but a Devil child.”
“You live here?”
“Yes, but don’t hurt yourself by leaving. Once I am healed, I will return to my family.”
Family. Jack did not know what to do with this information, in fact he hardly knew what to do about the entire situation. His habits wanted him to find the nearest sword and end it, but knowing that someone was here and actively seeking the thing out was enough to keep Jack at bay. The apprentice sounded young, and youth often had an advantage in battle.
In unfamiliar territory, Jack found himself hesitantly torn between simply leaving the conversation or staying and ensuring the exorcist was not on the verge of dying as Angela feared. Angela.
“I must send a message.” Jack announced as he pushed himself away from the door and slowly walked towards his cot. The door between himself and the exorcist was still open and he could hear a grunt as the bed creaked from a slight movement. The exorcist was more human than those he had encountered; usually silent and mysterious, speaking in a tongue no one remembers and releasing animalistic sounds in battle.
But this one spoke like a human and it reminded him too much of a love gone wrong.

FOR YOU
Pairings: Ghost face!Ajax x Fem!reader
Summary: Ajax is Ghost face.
Warnings: Mention of Knives, blood, death, murder. bullying
Note: let's just pretend he has a different power and has actual hair instead of snakes.
the killings had started a month ago, the mister Ghost face man would mess and prank with the victims over their phone, then fuck with them before they kill them.
the body's were turning in in worse conditions than the last, getting more graphic and morbid.
The first victim, Rowan Laslow. left laying in the Nightshades library, neck snapped.
then a few days later, Tyler Galpin, his lifeless body spread out in the forest on the edge of the town.
the next week, Kent, left in the bottom of the lake with a leg missing
a week later, the Mayors son, Lucas, limbs snapped in all different directions as he laid in front of Pilgrim world.
the day after they went after Gabrielle white, the girl who tortured you for years. leaving her hanging upside down from a tree, her neck half cut off.
and only yesterday they claimed their sixth victim, the boy you had been dating for a few months, the boy who also cheated on you but convinced you to stay. Clifford Wates.
his body parts scattered all over the archery field with an arrow in his eye and chest.
-
you stood frozen in the quad, staring at the figure standing on the opposite you on the other side of the fountain.
your mouth was agape as you looked at the figure in a mask and a long, black coat, covering their entire body, including their big gloved hands that held a large, bloody knife.
they took a step around the fountain, making you take a step away from them, your breath hitching as they lifted the knife.
you backed up and ran away, getting away as fast as you could to escape the scary figure
--
You held your breath as you hid behind a corner, the opposite side of the but if you crossed the corridor you knew they would be there, ready to grab you.
the deep raspy voice calling out your name in disappointment over and over again, clicking their tongue.
their voice sounded familiar, but you couldn't pin-point it, it sounded like any other guys' voice
"you should know better than to run away" he sighed
he sounded like he was at the end of the hall, but with the mask making him sounded muffled you weren't too sure, but he was dragging the knife along the bricked wall, making a screeching noise that irritated your ears.
"what's you next move?" he called huskily.
you looked at the stairs and bit your tongue as you built up the courage to make a run for it.
but before you could even take a step he appeared in front of you
"boo!" he yelled at you, making you scream in fright and start running the opposite direction on the stairs.
it was too late at night for anyone to hear you, it was way past the curfew and everyone would probably be in their beds sleeping or watching a movie. the only reason you weren't was because you were in town for the afternoon and the bus back get broken down, making you late.
he called your name again, his tone getting angrier the more you run and hide. you managed to run through the halls in a full circle, going about to the stairs again and running up them, hearing him behind you
"Leave me alone!" you begged, hearing his loud footsteps on the stairs
you stood blocked yourself with a table, letting it be in the way from him get to you as you looked over at the stairs to the girls dorms next to you.
you heard him laugh, gripping the knife tighter in his hand as he pointed it at you.
you got a better look at the figure.
the long cloak reaching the floor covered the entirety of his lanky and tall figure. The long white mask covered in blood.
he tilted his head, tapping his big black boots on the wooden floor with loud thuds, matching the pace of your beating heart as you shuddered at the thought of him using the blood stained knife on you.
Him dragging the blade along the skin that was exposed, tearing the skin, or jabbing the blade into your flesh before taking it out, letting the thick red liquid seep through the cut, blemishing your clothes that clung to your sweaty body, decorating you in the prettiest of red.
you imagined your still, lifeless body laying on the wooden floor, a pool of blood beneath your dead corpse with him towering over you, with a smile hiding beneath the disguise. it made your your skin crawl at the thought of dyiing like that
"please leave me alone" you cried
"I'm sorry, sweetheart, but I can't do that, I'm going to have to k1ll you" he chuckled beneath the mask
you started becoming dizzy, feeling the blood gush out of your head, making you feel lightheaded, wondering if he had stabbed you yet.
realising that he hadn't, you pushed the table against his figure harshly. making him stumble back, giving you time to run up the stairs, but he gained his balance as quickly as he got up, launching himself at you at you ran for the stairs.
he held onto your leg tightly, grazing his knife against your ankle, making your yelp.
you kicked his hand away vigorously, managing to boot him in the face, making him groan in pain.
you sprinted up the stairs, tripping over your feet at the top.
you pushed yourself up and looked down the stairs, seeing the mystery killer gone, no where to be seen.
you sighed, stumbling into your room and pressing yourself up against the door, resting your head against it.
your phone rung, making you jump in fright. you picked it up seeing it was your best friend, Ajax.
you answered it and pressed it up to your ear as you sobbed, beginning to hyperventilate.
"hey" his soft, calm voice helped you calm down a bit
"hi" you muttered tiredly
"are you ok? I didn't see you much today" he asked, he sounded a little uncomfortable
"yeah, I went into town" you stated
"are you crying?" he questioned softly
"no not really" you admitted
"what's wrong? did those boys harass you again?" he spoke sternly now
"no, I just- I mean I got harassed by some dude in a costume with a knife, he was chasing me around the school" you replied weakly
"what? he's in the school? are you alone?" he interrogated
once you told him you were he told you to go to his room where he would be there to comfort you and keep you safe. so there you were. at the bottom of the stairs, looking around your surroundings to see if you could find them.
you slowly made your way to Ajax's room, getting the the hall of the Boys' rooms to see a black silhouette shining in the moonlight
you gulped
"Ajax?" you called out quietly, having the feeling he was waiting for you.
but when he turned around your stomach dropped, making you want to faint.
the ghost man was standing in the way of Ajax's room, not giving you access to safety as he lifted the knife with his head tilted
"what's wrong, it looks like you've seen a ghost?" he taunted
"why can't you just leave me alone?" you sobbed
"I can't leave you alone, darling, that seems cruel" he laughed lowly
"it's cruel to threaten to hurt me!"
"hurt you?" he questioned "I'd never dare to hurt you, my love. I'm protecting you"
"who even are you!?" you snapped
he walked closer to you at a dangerously slow pace, not seeming threatening enough for you to walk back
he stood in front of you, the blade pointing to the ground as he ignored your question
you quickly to the knife off him and pointed it at him
"I wouldn't do that" he sighed
"why not?" you glared
"you should know better" he replied cockily
you heard a creek behind you, making you turn your head to see another one of him, only taller, and with a bigger knife.
before you could react, the original man wrapped his hand around your mouth, silencing your screams when he snatched the kn1fe off you
"don't be scared" he whispered in your ear as you tugged on his arms to release you
you watched at the blood from his costume transferred onto your skin, painting a worn out red against your flesh
you tugged onto his cloak as he dragged you back as you trembled in fear and struggled to breath
your hands explored his body harshly, smacking and pulling onto his clothes until you managed to get to his mask.
but he pushed you away before you could pull it of his face
"what's wrong? did I touch a sensitive spot. are you ugly?" you smirked
"Quite the opposite" he said confidently
"then you shouldn't be so nervous to show me then, I might even fall in love if you're lucky" you spoke sarcastically
he reached up and took off his mask tentatively.
he held the mask in his gloved hand and looked at you in the eyes in amusement
"Ajax?" your voice broke as you took a step back
"why so surprised, sweetheart?" he raised his eyebrows
you took a second to take in his features in the moonlight
his messy hair falling to just above his shoulders, pressing up to his neck.
the blood scattered over his features. a dried patch that dripped from his big nose. a trail that ran down his pink, plump lips, the splatter on the top of his neck, and the drips and patched decorating his cheekbones and loose stands of hair clung to his forehead due to the dried red thick liquid on his head.
he looked beautiful under the deep dim light.
but he looked like a monster just as much, and you hated it
"please tell me that's paint" you whimpered
"would that make you feel better?" he knitted his eyebrows together, looking concerned, but you didn't buy it
you only nodded in response, having the feeling that you can't speak, your lungs produced no air that let you breath or talk.
"it's paint then" he answered with smile on his murderous face
"why don't I believe that?" you shook your head in disbelief
"probably 'cause it's not paint" the other boy snorted
"Xavier?" you muttered
"who else would it be?" he smirked at you with his mask on his head
"I've got it from here, thanks" Ajax shooed his friend away, making him walk away with a suggestive wink
"this isn't funny" you breathed through your nose
"I mean I would say that too but the way you got scared was pretty funny" he giggled
"you threatened to kill me, Ajax! there's nothing funny about that, you are horrible" you growled
"yeah, the knife was bit too far, huh?" he looked down at it, playing with the blade with the tip of his index finger
"every bit about this is too far, you are insane! what is wrong with you?!" you cried out
"I did this for you" he huffed
you couldn't fathom the amount of emotions you had for the boy in the moment.
you couldn't believe that he threatened to hurt you
you hated that he thought this was funny
you felt sad that he would do this to you
you were angry that he still looked gorgeous, even with his face painted in red.
he looked like your best friend, but he wasn't, this wasn't the Ajax you knew.
this was someone else.
you wanted to scream and shout at him, you wanted to punch and kick him, you wanted to run your hands through his hair and make him stop, you wanted to kiss him and tell him that you loved him.
but you didn't, you couldn't.
it wouldn't feel right if you did, because you didn't love this boy, you loved Ajax.
"why?" you murmured
"haven't you noticed?" he smiled wickedly. he licked his lips and took a step closer to you
"Rowan threatened to hurt you in the Nightshade's library and threw you against the shelves. Tyler stood you up on your date to look for wild berries in the woods. Kent almost drowned you in the lake while fighting. Lucas bullied you in front of Pilgrim world. Gabrielle tortured you for years at the tree you always sit against while reading. And Clifford, cheating on you multiple times after competing in archery with you for months, turns out he's the one with bad aim" he explained
all the placed they left their lifeless body's where the places that they hurt you, they places where they left you crying.
"I did it all for you, they can't hurt you anymore, it's just us now" he grabbed your hand as a tear fell from your eye
"it's not just us now, there will never be an us" you responded bitterly.
as much as you wanted to be with him, the years of wishing he would ask you out ran out the door. you didn't want this boy, not like this.
"why not? why can't there be?" he questioned
"why? Ajax look at you! covered in people's blood holding a knife at me!" you scoffed
"I can put it away if that's what you want" he held it down, behind his back to not scare you.
"I want Ajax, I don't want whoever this is, I want my best friend, I don't want a murderer!" you groaned
"what do you mean? it's me, I am your best friend" he smiled in confusion.
"no, my best friend wouldn't do this, my best friend is shy, innocent, adorable and sweet and you are none of those things, he would never hurt anybody intentionally" you shook you head
"what do you want from me? I got rid of all of the people that have hurt you, what else could you possibly want?" his gaze softened as he looked at you longingly and pleadingly.
"well now you've hurt me" you said as he squeezed your hand lightly
"what are you saying?" he whispered
you shrugged his hand away from yours
"I'm saying stay away from me or I'm telling the police" you begun walking away from him, rushing back to your room.
--
you made a point to annoying people that you didn't really like, provoking them to say bad things and cause fights with you.
and the next few days after those, they would be announced missing and dead. making you smile knowing who's behind them.
------------------------------------------------
I have quite a few ideas for Ghost face Xavier and Ajax, so if you wanna see them just let me know!

Wednesday Fanfic Concept - Mothers
Summary:
When Enid slipped away from her mother and the horrifying thought of Conversion Therapy she did not expect to stumble on a conversation between Bianca and her own mother, let alone one so terrifying.
Bianca did not expect to spend Parents day trying to escape her mothers grasp. Let alone trying to do so in the Nightshades catacombs with Enid Sinclair at her side.
With any luck their mothers will kill each other or give up the search, but then, when have they ever been lucky?
Concept:
Sort of brief, more of an episode divergence, but I feel there is so much potential for a Enid Bianca team up during parents day.
Like, even within the context of the show and it works narratively and thematically!
In one side of the story you have:
Wednesday and Morticia overcoming the distance between them to reveal the truth of crimes past and free Gomez.
Meanwhile, unaware of all this, Enid & Bianca are hiding from their mothers who team up to hunt them them down.
Esther: I am sure your Childs rebelliousness will pass, but I envy you a child of such talent and power. I once thought Enid showed such potential but she lacks the will to find it.
Gabrielle: You are too kind my dear, but I must confess some of my own envy. For its clear despite her weakness and fear, Enid adores you in a way Bianca never could I.
Esther: The Grass is always greener on the other side I suppose.
In the middle of the episode, Esther and Gabrielle encounter Morticia in the Nightshaders library and have a veiled & tense stand off where Morticia.
Gabrielle: Ah, our apologies dear, we were simply seeking our missing daughters, I am sure you understand.
Morticia: If my daughter desired to go missing rather than speak with me, I'd accept that rather than force my presence on her.
Esther: Given the rumors swirling about her, that sounds more like an excuse for negligence than anything else.
One can feel the air growing tense, twisted, writhing shadows stretch across the walls showing hints of the women's true nature as the three stare each other down. Perhaps here seconds away from striking.
Wednesday: Mother, I did not expect to find you down here.
Morticia: (Smirking) I knew you would seek me out, when you were ready.
Gabrielle & Esther roll their eyes and leave.
Enid & Bianca cobble together a desperate plan, Perhaps after a rendition of a particular song, or at least a fencing match. The song may come at the end of the story too or elsewhere.
They used Bianca's song to force Enid into a partially transformed state and try to isolate Gabrielle to try and... Convince her to leave well enough alone.
Esther is quick to place an arm between the Siren and their children it morphing into a full developed Lycan arm even while her body remains otherwise the same as Gabrielle leans on it and smirks playfully,
Esther: Now, now Enid, that is no way to treat our fellows is it?
Gabrielle: You see dear, you inherited your swift social skills from me.
Bianca & Enid glance at one another before Bianca concedes.
Bianca: We would like to offer you two a deal.
Gabriele: Your bargaining position is rather dubious dear.
Esther: But I can't deny the boldness, let's hear them out.
The deal outlined lets them both runout at the year at Nevemore.
If Enid has not wolfed out she will go the conversion camp and Bianca will return to the cult regardless but ask permission to return to Nevermore to finish her education, but return whenever she is called.
Enid (Snarling) It isn't at though you need Bianca's song to make your critics go quiet, not with my mother on your side.
Esther: I am pleased to see the instincts of a hunter are not lost on you Enid.
Gabrielle: I would ask you to remember, we Sirens are as much hunters of men as Lycan.
Bianca: Then you can keep things under control, until I return, and give you everything you ask of me.
Ultimately the parents concede, though its shown they exchange info before parting ways. Also Lycan are semi-immune to Sirens song thanks to their brains morphic physiology.
At the end of the episode, Morticia respects Wednesday's boundaries but Wednesday also takes a step towards showing her affection.
Meanwhile after confronting their mothers, Enid & Bianca gets hugs that clearly distress them or that they obviously don't want.
Cue all three meeting up at the end of the day and:
Enid: I heard you had a crazy day"
Wednesday: It was, but before that, my mother asked after both of you, and whether you would be fairing well?
Bianca:... We got ourselves some time.
Their hope is to find a solution to Enid's transformation and Bianca's situation before the year is out.
Also, I know what canon Esther looked like but I swear, this version lives rent free in my head in any version she serves as a villain. or important figure:
The potential for toxic Yuri with her and Gabrielle it soo good to pass up.
Low key has me imagining a different AU:
Summary:
Wit the passing of her mate, Esther Sinclair was introduced to Morning Song. Suffice to say she never expected to find a kindred spirit in the 'communities' mistress.
Gabrielle had never been one to believe in things like love, but maybe she had just never met anyone of a mind to her enough but still distinct enough to share herself with.
Neither Enid or Bianca are having a good time.
I have no idea where this story would g, but I low key love the idea of Esther once having been a big deal and still having a lot of potential and fairly anti human politics.
& her finding an alliance in Gabrielle who is extremely predatory and powerful in her own right but who needs muscle/deniable agents to keep her little cult running.
With the pair rather liking the prospect of pairing Enid & Bianca up post Enid's wolf out. Or in the above case, they are busy engaging in toxic Yuri and ambitious schemes and their daughters are just having a bad time.
Not sure on Enid's brothers.

Chapter 5: Ripples in the Valleys
“It must be understood that in medieval society, poisonings were seen as a fairly regular and harmless practice for dealing with problems, especially when a serf or servant was poisoned, but only if the perpetrator is never caught. To fail at a poisoning, however, was a massive social faux pas, as it often had the capacity to ruin a good feast in a way successful poisonings didn’t.” - Mayson Kowalski’s History Report
It was Gabriel who broke the stunned silence that had filled the hall as Lachlann got to his feet. He looked the apprentice up and down, shaking his head in disbelief. “We all thought…I mean…it was, wasn’t it? The symptoms…the way you…”
Rowena nodded briefly, before turning back to Lachlann. “His body is still dealing with the poison, but…the more fatal symptoms don’t seem to be appearing. Now then, would anyone like to do the decent thing and own up to poisoning my apprentice?”
There was an awkward silence in the air as the many guests looked between each other, Lachlann noticing the Osadas looking directly at Mathilde and Bruna. All of the decorum between the group he had seen early had gone.
It was Mathilde who broke the silence. Between her dark expression and the accusatory look Gabriel was giving her, it seemed rather obvious now what she was notorious for. “Something you’d like to say, good sir?” she asked, her tone of voice passing the judgement back onto Gabriel.
However, it was Rousalie who spoke up. “Oh, don’t be ridiculous-”
“Rousalie, it’s alright-” Gabriel tried to interject, Baron Osada now standing up trying to calm his children down, and the Thane of Cawdor absolutely failing to get everyone to sit back down. Unfortunately, Mathilde and Bruna weren’t helping matters, and it seemed to Lachlann as if an argument would break out there and then. At least until Godric stepped away from the High Table and jumped up onto the one the others had all been sitting on. They all fell silent. Rowena merely rolled her eyes, which conveyed to Lachlann that this wasn’t the first time he’d done this.
“Works every time.” Godric chuckled to himself as he walked across the table towards the others. “Now, I hate to interject, you know me-”
“Oh, please…” Rowena hissed, Lachlann looking up to see Luxia trying to hold in a laugh.
“-but,” Godric continued, holding up his cloak to keep it from getting into any soup, “I feel like all this yelling isn’t helping matters. Let us start with what’s important: are you alright, Lachlann?”
Lachlann winced as the hall now turned to him. He was beginning to understand why Rowena thought of Godric the way she did, but he still appreciated him asking. “I…I definitely feel less faint, and the pain is lessening too…still feel rather sweltered, though.”
Gabriel nodded. “See? This is what I was talking about, all symptoms of Enchanted Nightshade!”
Mathilde chuckled. “Though you are missing the most important component of Enchanted Nightshade, namely the death that follows. Are we sure he didn’t just react badly to our food?”
Rowena tried to stop him, but to Lachlann it didn’t seem like anyone else was following social etiquette either. “Maybe the fact that a certain changeling over there projected into my mind so she can tell me I’m being poisoned.”
Lachlann didn’t need to do much to signpost who he was blaming. The glare he was giving Betwixt was enough for everyone to swivel their heads to find her clutching at the fabric of her dress and glaring back at him, also noticing the Thane of Cawdor looking increasingly agitated. “...And you’re going to all believe him over me? If I wanted to kill him I would have actually done it, not made him pass out for a few minutes, that would simply be-”
She very clearly wanted to say more, but the two changelings either side of her placed a hand on either of her shoulders, and she fell silent. The changeling on the left, the one in the dress, gestured to Godric to continue.
Godric nodded to the other two changelings, his smile fading for a moment. “Thank you. Now, maybe a better question would be “Why didn’t he die?” Because as I’m sure Mathilde knows, that could only be Enchanted Nightshade. I’ve had many a good guest succumb to it in the past few years. And the answer, from where I’m standing at least, is clear.” he said, coming to a stop a few inches from where Lachlann was sitting.
There was a moment of confusion, before Rousalie finally exclaimed “Oh!” and pointed at Lachlann’s bowl. There was a mass of clamouring as the nobles craned their necks to see what she was pointing at, and sure enough within the bowl was still a huge amount of bread and meat. Now she’d pointed it out, it stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the other empty plates.
Bruna finally spoke, still clinging to Mathilde. “I…I don’t quite follow-”
“I do.” Rowena said, a smile now on her face. “Lam, are you alright to stand?”
“I-I think so, milady.” Lachlann said, now feeling a little self-conscious about her holding him up. She let him go and walked over to the table, picking up the bowl. Pulling out her wand, she muttered a few words and her wand glowed a faint purple. There were gasps and a few gags as the food became covered in purple veins.
Godric chuckled. “And there we have it. As Rowena so eloquently demonstrates, It’s not a matter of the food being poorly poisoned. He just didn’t eat enough. My word, this must be why poisonings only happen in noble circles…”
“What makes you say that?” Gabriel asked, squinting at the contaminated food.
Rowena moved it closer to him, Rousalie backing away as she did. “Well, don’t you see? I’m afraid Lachlann here is still getting used to a diet such as ours. Where he comes from they eat different amounts. To him, he ate a normal amount of food.”
“H-He…” Mathilde said quietly, her mouth opening and closing a couple of times. Lachlann stepped over too, and when he did she shot him a look not unlike the one Betwixt gave him. Not just irritation, but sheer disbelief that someone as low as him was able to best her. It made him feel a lot better about the whole thing.
“It was rather rich food.” Lachlann said, absentmindedly. “Does…that settle it?”
“I’m afraid not just yet.” Rowena sighed, turning to the High Table and staring at the Thane. “The last thing I want, O Thane, is for this to devolve into a messy argument that you can skew into one of your battles. As far as I’m concerned, anyone in here could have done it. I confess I’ve made my enemies, after all. I suppose I really should have listened to Lady Hufflepuff. Come, Lam, we’re leaving.”
The Thane looked as if he was about to blow a gasket (not that the gasket had been invented yet). “E-Excuse me?! You talk of me as if I am some common mercenary! My feast has been ruined by the use of magic and so it is my right to use whatever means I have to deal with this!” he spluttered. He looked to either side of him, to Salazar and the third changeling, the one in armour, who seemingly had a conversation between each other based on eye contact alone. Lachlann wondered if they were doing the same thing he and Betwixt had done. Eventually, in part due to the flabbergasted expression on the Thane’s face, Salazar turned to the rest of the hall.
“I find this reasonable. I shall use my magic in the Thane’s service to discover the culprit.” he pledged, his eyes darting across the hall for reactions. They fell on Godric, waiting for his response. For a moment, Lachlann felt as if that was it. He had almost died, but now everyone’s focus was on the Thane’s feast being disrupted. An intense rush of anger filled him at that dismissal of his life, and of Rowena’s, so much so that he almost missed what Godric said next.
“I agree…with Rowena.”. There were gasps. There were mutters. There were exclamations of “What?!”, but Lachlann watched silently. Bruna and Mathilde looked scandalised. The odd thing to Lachlann, though, was that he didn’t think Salazar was taken by surprise by this. Godric, clearly enjoying the attention to the point that he winked at Luxia, continued, “I grant that the feast is ruined, and that is a tragedy. But for you to see yourself as entitled to our services in that way…that I cannot stand. We grant our services as a gift, a price for protection. It becomes clear to me now that perhaps another approach is needed if all it gets us is petty killings and being thrust into battle against each other for the highest bidder.”
Godric leapt off of the table, grinning at the others. “I’m with Rowena on this one. I just don’t think I can stomach another pointless skirmish. What say you, Sal?”
Salazar looked between Godric, at his own apprentices who suddenly looked rather afraid, and then at the Thane. “I’ll admit that I find it slightly degrading at times, but it’s more about finding the right nobles to work…with.” he said, Lachlann unsure if he was looking at the changelings or at the Thane. “But I insist that there is no division between us. You are my friend, Godric. As are you, Lady Ravenclaw. As is anyone who seeks to ensure that magic’s purity is maintained. I imagine you shall be leaving too?”
Godric’s smile had faded once more, and he nodded. “I think that’s for the best. Luxia, my dear apprentices, shall we?”
Luxia got up and walked over to him, maybe milking the attention her walk was getting just a little bit, folding her arm under his once she got there, and not really paying attention to Lachlann. The Osadas, meanwhile, turned and bowed to their parents before joining up with Lachlann and the others.
“Does this happen to you a lot?” Gabriel asked, as the Thane started yelling at the group to stay, his voice undercut by Godric pulling the grand doors open.
“...Not until recently.” Lachlann shrugged, still nursing his stomach.
“I didn’t know serfs ate so little!” Rousalie said, shaking her head in disbelief. “I mean, I saw how much you ate, no wonder you survived!”
“Rousalie, please!” Gabriel said, exasperated. “Sorry, Lam, she really doesn’t mean to be this obnoxious…”
“I-It’s fine, really.” Lachlann reassured him. “Being a serf saved my life, after all.”
“Former serf.” Rousalie said, smiling.
Lachlann found himself laughing at that as they found themselves outside their carriages, as if he hadn’t been poisoned just a few minutes prior. “Yeah…I guess you’re right.”
They ran to catch up with the others, with Godric and Luxia getting into their own coach and leaning over to talk to Rowena. “Are you sure we can’t convince you to stay with us?” Godric asked, looking back at the castle. “I do worry about what that Thane might do.”
“I can take care of myself, as can Lachlann.” Rowena pointed out, opening the door for her apprentice to climb in, “We fought off the Sovereign of the Changelings after all, what’s some foolish noble who thinks he owns the place?”
Godric merely smiled at her. “You’ve been asking that question all your life, I think. Say hello to Helga for me, won’t you?”
Rowena smiled back and nodded, checking to make sure Lachlann was in the carriage. “Safe travels, Lord Gryffindor.”
“You too, Lady Ravenclaw.”
***
An hour or two passed, and before long the carriage had stopped outside a medium-sized castle, the gate already open. As the two climbed out and walked towards it, already Lachlann felt that it had a profoundly different feeling to it than the Thane of Cawdor’s abode. The flames dotted around seemed to glow more warmly, and the structure did not seem to loom over him in the same way either. Lachlann spent a moment clutching his stomach, the carriage journey had not helped his fragile stomach. He brought a shaking hand up to his hair, dreading to think what he must have looked like. A few seconds passed and a woman with blonde hair in a simple yellow dress walked out, accompanied by another blonde woman who was about Lachlann’s age, with incredibly long blonde hair that escaped her veil into two long braids. She seemed to be the other woman’s apprentice, though very clearly was also a noble.
Helga Hufflepuff stared at Rowena and Lachlann for a moment, before clicking her tongue. “I did say it was not wise to attend.” she said finally, looking Lachlann up and down. “My word, boy, what has she put you through?”
Lachlann blinked a few times before mustering up the strength to speak “I…it was not Lady Ravenclaw’s fault, milady…I have some share of the blame for my actions towards the one who hired the poisoner.”
Rowena looked between Lachlann and Helga and sighed. “...I’m sorry. Do you have any medicinal herbs? I might be able to improve his condition before we leave for home.”
Helga nodded, clicking her tongue once more. “Of course. Henriette, if you could see to gathering those, that would be wonderful. Come, I’m sure you’ll want to pick up Helena.” she said, a smile appearing on her face as they entered the castle. “She’s been very well-behaved, for the most part. Kept trying to crawl out into the corridors, though.”
“Well, she’s in a very adventurous stage at the moment.” Rowena shrugged. “You can see why I needed the extra pair of hands.”
“Indeed. I hope you don’t mind me copying your ideas.” Helga chuckled as Henriette returned with the herbs. “Finding an apprentice with connections to the King and Queen has been rather useful with my work in dealing with these pesky wars. No offence to your choice, of course.”
Lachlann didn’t react, only watching as the herbs were prepared. He looked over at Henriette for a moment, who looked back. Lachlann blinked rapidly again. “A-Apologies, um…I’m afraid I’m not exactly in the best of shape.”
“There’s no need to worry, I’m not surprised after a dose of Enchanted Nightshade.” Henriette reassured him, looking over at Helga and Rowena. “Did Lady Hufflepuff’s absence get mentioned?”
Lachlann shrugged. “It might have happened in the time I was unconscious, but it also came up when Lady Ravenclaw was dressing down the Thane.”
Henriette smiled at that. “I am glad to hear it. You are very lucky to have a mage like her teaching you. I’ve heard a lot of things about her spellcasting and knowledge, it’s wonderful to have her active once more.” She said, sagely.
Lachlann nodded along with what she was saying. “Yes, her knowledge of magic is second to none. I’m glad that I’m able to help her. Which reminds me-” he said, walking forward to help with Helena briefly, Henriette following behind.
“It’s alright dear, I’m here…” Rowena whispered, her daughter sobbing for a moment before swiftly calming down as she settled into her mother’s arms. “Thank you, Lam. I see you two have been introduced to each other. I’m sure this won’t be the last time we visit, though perhaps next time we will be able to stay for longer. Alas, Helena needs her cot, and Lam here needs to sleep off the rest of the poison.”
Helga laughed out loud at that, placing a hand over her mouth. “Apologies, my boy, apologies. You’ve been through the wringer tonight, I can see that. And you’re still trying to help where you can. You’re already a fine apprentice, and I’m sure you’ll be a fine wizard as time goes on. I’m sure we’ll see you both again soon, especially if the Thane continues to rage about his feast being ruined.”
Henriette passed over the herbs to Lachlann. “I look forward to seeing you at full health soon.” she said, smiling softly at him.
Lachlann took the herbs and bowed. “Thank you. I’ll try not to annoy the changelings or Lord Slytherin’s lot too much for a little bit.” He turned to leave, feeling a lot better than he had done, and looked across the hills and valleys, covered in silvery moonlight. The wind rushed through the grass, creating waves of movement that scattered themselves across the Highlands. It occurred to Lachlann that this was the second time someone had tried to kill him in the past week. He felt a peculiar sense of pride in that he’d been able to defend Rowena’s beliefs in this way, and as he boarded the carriage and started eating the herbs, he wondered just how much of the magic at work in the realm could be used to push back against those who sought nothing but control.
This is where the night ended for Lachlann of Wexford. But it is not the end of the night for many of the others who attended that ill-fated feast. And thankfully, records exist of their night as well. Across the windy valleys, the ripples blew from the grass to the trees to the fires of the Thane of Cawdor’s castle, that one by one were being blown out. In the courtyard, staring as the last carriage left, Salazar Slytherin stood with the castle’s owner.
“I shall fire all my cooks, just to be sure!” the Thane insisted, unable to look Salazar in the eye, “I cannot apologise enough for what happened! For you to be accused of poisoning like that! I do wonder just what Lord Gryffindor teaches those apprentices of his.”
“Lord Gryffindor is a close personal friend.” Salazar droned in an icy voice. “Please, do stop grovelling. You ought to go and oversee that process personally, I doubt you would want any more of your food to be contaminated, am I right?”
“Y-Yes, of course!” the Thane said suddenly, running off into the castle. A few moments later, a blonde woman and a woman with red hair walked out and towards the waiting Lord of Magic.
There was a moment where he stared at the two before sighing. “I want to hear nothing of portion sizes and what kind of serf or peasant he was. You failed. I ordered you to poison a magic-user and you failed.”
“I’ll say!” came a voice from the open gate. A woman in a deep purple dress walked out, followed by two others. They angrily walked towards the others, holding their dress above the ground as they did so. “I’ve never felt such rage before. I thought you said peasants were supposed to be the weakest of mortals?” she fumed.
“I said that non-magical serfs were the weakest of mortals.” Salazar replied, giving Betwixt no more attention as he turned to the two changelings behind her. “Monarchs Eadar and Sgàthan, I hope this night has not diminished your opinion of mortal feasts.”
The two looked at each other, shrugged, and proceeded to change, their hair turning white as snow and their skin becoming pale and then purplish. When they opened their eyes, there were no pupils. The one in the suit of armour, Eadar, spoke first. “Not at all. We do not share our daughter’s anger at the serf, nor his mistress. Nevertheless, two slights such as these against the Silver Kingdom cannot go unaccounted for.”
“Three, if you count the silver this Lady Ravenclaw is harbouring.” Sgàthan pointed out, dusting down her dress. “You mortals have such fragile lives. I wonder why you put them in danger so frequently.”
“Getting to the point…” Betwixt seethed, also returning to their white hair and eyes, “We came into an agreement with you because you promised you could take out anyone opposing our claim upon these Isles’ silver. And now, that bastard and the woman he babysits for have all the motivation in the world to start gathering allies against us!”
“I doubt Rowena would do anything so rash.” Salazar pointed out, his attention finally turning back to his apprentices. “She will concoct a plan of some kind to achieve her goal. Which gives us valuable time. So I ask you both…what are you going to do with that time to help uphold that agreement with our friends here?”
Mathilde and Bruna looked at each other, clearly feeling a great deal of unease at the way Salazar was talking to them. “Lord Slytherin…Majesties of the Silver Kingdom…” Mathilde began, only now beginning to truly process what had happened. Only now processing that someone had gotten the better of her. Someone lower than her. “We will do whatever is necessary to get rid of them. I will correct my error and ensure that the next time he is brought down by my poisons, he does not wake up.”
Bruna nodded along with Mathilde. “And I pledge myself to that same goal. I will assist in devising a strategy that not even Lady Ravenclaw could predict.”
Salazar smirked and turned to the changelings. “There, I think that settles things, no? Rest assured that soon the serf will be dead, and Rowena…well, her responsibilities that she hired that boy to help with will be too much, I’m afraid. You needn’t worry about her opposing you then.”
Sgàthan nodded approvingly. “Very good. We shall return to our kingdom. Come, Betwixt.”
Betwixt sighed, glaring at Mathilde and Bruna. “I’m sure I’ll be seeing the both of you.” she said, chuckling darkly. “I’d quite like to be there to watch him splutter…” she said, shapeshifting into Lachlann and mimicking him clutching his own neck “...and choke..and turn blue…” before quickly returning to her initial form, laughing aloud as she followed her parents.
The three humans bowed, before turning to the carriage. Before they could get on, however, Salazar put his hand in front of them. “This conversation is not over. I want to know exactly what your plan is and soon. There can be no distractions from this, either. If your family comes calling once more…” he said, pointing at Bruna, “...I cannot promise I can hide you from them. Especially not without the changelings supporting us.”
He moved his arm and allowed them into the carriage, glaring up at them before taking a seat near the front. The carriage moved out of the courtyard, and Bruna and Mathilde turned to look at each other, each with an expression that a thousand words would not be enough to describe, but most of which involved killing Lachlann Doherty.

It was late now, and Merula put down the book she was reading from with a sigh. “...There we go. Sorry if that took longer than I thought it would.” She looked up, half-expecting to see them all asleep, but instead she saw Mayson, Persephone and Matthew all still watching intently, smiling.
“Thanks, Mer!” Mayson exclaimed before being shushed by Persephone, “That really does help. I’ve got this assignment in the bag now!”
“I, too, am grateful.” Persephone admitted. “And I appreciate the amount of gossip and scandal that occurred. Such devious plans those nobles had!”
“I do wonder if I’m a walking spoiler for whether or not he makes it through though, um…” Matthew pointed out, at which the group laughed.
“Yeah, well, that’s history for you. About how you get there, not the destination…though that’s still pretty important too.” She said, staring at Matthew for a few seconds before shaking herself out of it. “Right! You two, off to bed, and Luther here has to sneak his way back to Ravenclaw Tower.”
The two lower-years stood up and headed for their respective dormitories, waving goodbye. “Thanks again, Merula!” Mayson said, “I’d prefer you teaching over Binns any day!”
It was now just Merula and Matthew. She started piling up her books, hoping she wasn’t too pink in the face. “I could…walk you up to your room, if you wanted. Keep you out of trouble, and all that.”
Matthew smiled, taking a step closer to her. “As much as I’d like that, um, you look really quite tired. You need sleep too, you know.”
“Oh…fine.” Merula sighed, pulling him close and kissing his cheek. “Go on, get out of here. If I had a bar of silver I could just pull Ravenclaw Tower closer, couldn’t I?”
Matthew blushed and nodded. “Maybe you could. If anyone could figure out that world of ancient magic, it’s you.”
He turned to leave, Merula looking down at her notes, about her ancestors, his, the founders, and the strange and wild magic that roamed. To her, it suddenly didn’t feel all that far away.

So a little more lore for ya, there's the Hero World and the Villain Underground. Both have their set of rules but the main thing I'm working on is how they hire people to further a non-existent cause because they both want to make money. The Hero World frames it as the greater good and all of that jazz while The Villain Underground just go "Yeah we just want to make tons of cash! No point in hiding how evil we are cuz that's the whole deal."
Both of them source their weapons and materials from two powerful companies. Angelic Glory and Hellish Retribution, both of the CEO's of said companies are very aware of each other. Gabriel Nightshade and something called The All Mother work together to unify the world with order. Because they're actually married to each other and both of them are corporate evil.
The Hero World has Gabriel "rehabilitate" captured villain to "use them for the grater good". Gabriel is happy to do this and turns them into drones, however they aren't typical and mindless. They keep their human personalites while also being completely and utterly obedient to Gabriel or AM, they don't ever question their loyalty to those two specific powers. The Hero companies don't actually ever have proper control over the drones and what usually ends up happening is Gabriel finds Heros they want to break, frame them, and then bend their will.
Nothing in this world is truly for the greater good, it's just a bunch of people scrapping for power while being slowly brainwashed and turned into acolytes by horrors beyond their comprehension.

My Full Muse List, Updated
I decided to go through and update my entire muse list, adding and removing characters, and I decided to make a post with the list that I intend to give easy to find tags on my blog, or to pin it later on.
All male muses can be used for gender transformation asks, and any males from their series can be used for gender transformation asks so long as they follow the other rules of my blog. This applies even if a male character from the series isn't normally on my muse list as their male counterpart. I.E. Byakuya from Danganronpa as a woman with Makoto, or Bakugou from My Hero Academia as a woman with Midoriya.

Nightshade Eyes [Reaper/Soldier:76] CHAPTER 2
Read on Ao3
1 / 2
Angela was like most fae: beautiful, kind, nurturing and highly protective of those she considered family. She was renowned throughout the castle and kingdom for her abilities to not only nurse but elevate the souls of the suffering. Often she would visit the lower districts to secretly tend to the sick children and weak adults who had no choice but to work until their bones snapped.
Once, she lived in an orphanage to care for every child who lost their family in the war. She had children cry on her, snot wiped on her, and too many times did she have to thoroughly clean herself after spending time with orphaned newborns. However, she never once lost her grace because she could feel the small flames inside of their bodies yearning for comfort.
Meeting Knight Commander Jack Morrison changed her: she met him when he was weak and delirious from the events of the battle. Like a child, he would bawl and babble, and she felt deeply for him as the small flame inside of him grew smaller with the passing days. She knew what his flame was like before the incident, and she swore she would never see it again.
Then his mind cleared and she discovered who he really was: a mean-spirited old man. Although he was merely forty-two winters to her centuries of seasons, he was intent on acting like the old sages she often had to visit for her training. He would complain and huff and yell whenever the slightest thing inconvenienced him. Deep down she understood that he suffered greatly, but the more he resisted her care and comfort, the less she began to care.
Yet she found herself back in the decrypt little village the following morning after waking up to a black moth on her nose. Blind, Jack is unable to send messages so she teaches him how to summon the fluttering creatures to signal her if he ever needs it. Perhaps it was because it was the first time he used it since she taught him how (so many years ago) that she found herself outside of his doorstep.
The door was open when she gently pressed against it. She did not know what to expect, except that a black moth meant an emergency. What Jack considered an emergency was all too unfamiliar to her. The door creaked open and she let herself in. Inside she scanned the area before spotting Jack sitting in the kitchen with a pinched expression and his hand desperately clutching to his locket.
“You summoned me?” She asked cautiously as the man had yet to acknowledge her presence. He finally released a sigh and let go of his locket.
“The fireplace.” He croaked out tiredly. Upon closer inspection, she realised he must have stayed awake for a few hours, if not the entire night. Being a spring fae she was practically useless as soon as the sun dipped, which meant that she had no idea for how long the moth waited for her to wake up. Guilt clenched at her heart, but she waved it away as she comforted herself with the notion that Jack was the one to reject her idea of living with her fellow fae. He was the one who wanted to live here, alone.
Still worried, she made her way to the fireplace where nothing was out of order. She was pleased to see that the smithy’s wife did in fact come over to help clean up, but she missed a spot. A big spot. On the floor, almost blending into the shadows, was a body. A prominent figure covered a long leather coat lying on their stomach. Their head was turned to the side but it was too dark for her to see their face clearly: another disadvantage of her birth season.
She slowly leaned down and hovered her hand over the still body to feel for a flame. At first, she was certain it was a corpse when a sudden spark struck at her fingertips. She hissed and jerked her hand away.
“Angela?” Jack called worried.
“Why do you have an exorcist on your floor, Jack?” She called back. Exorcists did not have flames; souls. How they managed to live like human beings was a magic even beyond her or at least one she refused to dwell on. It would be the end of her kind if humans realised fae were the only ones who could contact the Devil. Angela has only ever met a devil fae once and the experience still unsettled her to think about.
Angela reached for the body again, this time expecting the zap, and gently touched it. The body did not breathe, but she could feel the slow drum of a heartbeat. She lifted her hand and took hold of the figure’s coat to gently roll them over. Just as she slightly shifted them, the body groaned and a wet sound came from the floor. Exorcists bled?
She released the body and turned to the solemn former soldier: “Your sight might be gone, but if you fail to carry this body then I will officially lose all hope in your recovery.”
… … …
Jack despised the company of others since he was dismissed from his post: all it took was one day for him to discover that the only benefit of friends was the possibility of a fuck and a drinking partner. Companionship was a novelty reserved for those who had the time for such trivial matters.
So to have Angela order him to place the perhaps-dead exorcist in his bed was the last crack in the ice of what he considered acceptable. It was bad enough he had to depend on others for survival, and now his only island of isolation was occupied by a Devil’s child. And from the brief walk to his bedroom, he could not only tell that the exorcist was heavy , but also well-built.
Jack had never touched an exorcist before, opting to simply behead them from a distance, however, he had to wonder what the exorcist even needed a healthy body for: they returned ghouls with unholy weapons and drank their misty blood for life essence. They never sleep, never eat human food, and Jack has yet to hear of one who dared visit a whorehouse.
Which brought him back to the body in his bed: was it a real exorcist?
“He is wounded.”
“ He? ”
“As far as exorcists go, yes, it is a man. Before you lose yourself, he is nothing worth fawning over.”
Jack ignored the remark about his bed partner preferences, instead, he reached out a cautious hand and came into contact with skin. He prodded at the strange warmth which elicited a painful groan from the body. It was still alive. “You removed its mask?” He asked.
“No,” Angela suddenly said beside him. She gently pushed him to the side to further her examination. “Only he can remove it. But I had to dispose of his attire.”
“ He is naked? ” Jack stumbled backwards as he tried to remember what he touched. The impish fae laughed at his misery and a hand reached for his shirt. She pulled him closer again and guided him to a chair the soft-spoken woman from yesterday brought for him.
“His chest is bare. I would rather join the Devil herself before having to view an exorcist's treasury.” Another groan came from the man as Angela continued. A few minutes later, filled with groans and wet sounds, the fae finally sighed in defeat.
“His chest is torn. It is not a ghoul and it is rather too small to be a werebeast. I cannot mend him; he does not have a flame.”
Jack wondered if that meant he did not have to worry about any exorcists being in his life in the near future, but of course, Angela (being the nurturing fae that she is) could not even watch a Devil’s child die. “I will inform the village. I believe this is their exorcist, he has a crest branded into his chest.” Before Jack could protest, Angela took hold of his hand and forced him to feel the ugly scar on its strange warm skin. He did not marvel at the scar, instead, he jerked away harshly and cursed cruelly at the fae: she knew better than to force his touch onto others. It was the one rule they had: do not touch him, and he will obey.
“Do you think this place is its house?” He asked with uncertainty. He arrived at the village without notice and no one was genuinely pleased when he demanded an abode. Angela had to barter harshly with a stern woman until it was agreed that he could rent the house. Of course on one condition: do not destroy it.
Jack didn’t know if exorcists had houses. He thought they were nomadic people who slaughtered as they travelled, but it was also not uncommon for a village to hire their services. They were the only exorcists the knights were not allowed to hunt, for they were doing a good deed. If Jack has to share his new house with a Devil child, he would instead return to the castle and live in the slums until someone finally beats him to death.
“No,” Angela said. “I was informed that the exorcist resides with one of the villagers. They all respect him and speak fondly of his presence, do not make enemies with the people because of your inability to sense goodness.”
“No wonder I got stuck with you.” he spat bitterly. Who was she, a mere fae, to reprimand him about who he considered good? Who was she, who tended to damned souls and tainted her hands with sinner’s blood, to tell him that he cannot sense the evil within people? It was not his lack of sense that caused his undoing. Or so she would convince him.
“If we tell the villagers now then they can remove it from my life. I would rather we have them take it away before the sun sets.”
“I cannot promise you freedom.” The fae said as she quickly left the house to who knows where.
Alone, Jack found his way back to the chair and heavily sat down. He held his breath to listen for any presence of life: however, since last night, the Devil child did not breathe. Did exorcists have any humanity left inside of them?
He thought back to the brand and warm skin, the pained sounds and the heavy body. Sometimes it was difficult to believe such evil creatures were once human, that they once had lives and possibly families and loved ones. Why humans decide to become these creatures was unknown to Jack: even when loving hands spread hot poison across his eyes, he never prayed to the Devil to save him.
… … …
The unsettling silence was enough to force the sleep away as he sat stiffly and waited for Angela’s return. The locket against his chest burned comfortably when the front door creaked open: it was midday. Soft footsteps moved his way until Angela formally announced her presence: “Have you ever considered becoming… tolerant towards a companion?” she asked.
The words did not ease Jack’s already irritated mood. He did not want the Devil child to be in his house any longer. Angela’s words only meant one thing.
“It is staying?”
“I did not tell the whole truth. His injuries are… critical. If you care, he only lives because whatever attacked him failed to completely sever his head. I suppose during the night it began mending itself, however, I’m sure a not-too-gentle push would just have it topple off again.”
A silence brewed among them. He suspected she had ulterior motives for not mentioning it sooner, however, he could hardly fight against her. He learned long ago that she always won.
“You mean to say because we cannot move it again, it is staying.”
“It is a man not a thing. ”
“Exorcists do not deserve human titles.”
The fae sighed impatiently and moved over to the unbreathing body. He heard the soft jingle of her magic as she worked in silence: he knew she was easing his pain as best as she could. He remembers the feeling well, and the soft cooing voices that would whisper comforting lies as he refused to wake from his slumber.
“I calmed his mind for now. There is not a doctor in this village, nor a shaman, but I was told that he will heal himself over time.”
“A week?”
“Perhaps longer. With no nearby ghouls, he cannot feast and heal faster. In the meantime, you must make sure he does not leave the bed and allow the villagers to come in and ensure he is safe.”
Jack did not enjoy this idea. He had hoped that the prior day’s interaction would be the last time he would have to speak with the villagers, but now he had to willingly allow them inside? He did not retreat to the decrypt village only to be bombarded by unwanted visitors.
“Where must I sleep?”
“Are you so old that you cannot sleep on the floor anymore?”
“Angela…”
“Alright. I will arrange with the carpenter to supply you with an additional bed.”
The body groaned, reminding Jack that his room was still being invaded.
“I want the bed away from it. I refuse to share a room with this thing.”
“I forgot how demanding you can be, Sir Morrison.”
He glared in her general direction. “And do not refer to my name. I am Jack.”
“Of course, Sir Jack.”
“Leave me be imp.”
“As always.”

Fruit-representation of VC vamps.
(Restraining myself from the joke here because it's so overused by obnoxious straight girls on Twitter)
I can't take full credit for these, I had outside input and this was heavily discussed, but here is what the council has decided:
Louis: pomegranate. All the Byronic/Romantic symbolism of romance, heaven, hell, and blood. Beautiful to look at but a total pain in the ass in practice. Half lovely and perfect and half bitter garbage
Lestat: pineapple. Pure camp, a fruit that wears a stupid little crown. Very sweet and desirable by the masses, but prickly as hell on the outside and it also eats your flesh if you're not careful
Armand: plum or cherry. Aesthetically pleasing, sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter or sour af. There is no way to guess which one it will be. Fucking cyanide in the middle. Break a tooth and die.
Claudia: nightshade berry. Small, pretty, and harmless-looking. Like a shiny blueberry that will fucking kill you despite its size and similar appearance to many things that will not. It is understandable to be deceived
Daniel: apple. A total classic, universally enjoyed, very American and basic in a nice way. But he's the good kind of apple, like a honeycrisp. Not the gross kind with the tough skin and grainy inside
Gabrielle: grapefruit. Extremely bitter and polarizing, but beloved by those who enjoy it (and who know how to sweeten it up)
Marius: dragonfruit. Looks impressive, you have high hopes going in, but is super boring and underwhelming in practice. Wants to be important, but does anyone ACTUALLY like dragonfruit? Also, banana because they're dick shaped and Marius is also dick shaped
Nicki: grape. Varies wildly in quality, but is very elegant and a frequent companion of artists and thinkers. Also makes alcohol.
David: pear. Bland, pale, and disappointing. If sand were a fruit. Or a person

MUSE PLAYLIST.
post 3 - 5 songs that remind you of your muse.
repost, don’t reblog.
Don’t Go Into The Woods - Harley Poe
Don't go into the woods
Don't let go of my hand
I should've said
Don't go into the woods
Do you understand me
I should've said
Don't go in to unknown places
Young girls vanish without traces
I could not let that happen to you
But if you leave me, no just maybe
Strangers in the dark are waiting
When you're gone there's nothing I can do
Froot - Marina (extended version)
Leave it too long I'll go rot
Like an apple you forgot
Birds and worms will come for me
The cycle of life is complete
I'm your carnal flower, I'm your bloody rose
Pick my petals off and make my heart explode
I'm your deadly nightshade, I'm your cherry tree
You're my one true love, I'm your destiny
By autumn I’ll be gone, birds will sing their mourning song.
Oh baby you know it’s true, I’ve been saving all my summers for you.
Someone New - Carolina Rose
Starting today I shed my skin
Begin again
Ruthless, cutthroat
Breaking bread with evil men
Next time we meet you'll hardly recognize me
A stranger with a face that you swear you'd seen
Broken Bones - Kaleo
Some might say I talk loud, see if I care
Unlike them, don't walk away from my fear
I've busted bones, broken stones, looked the devil in the eye
I hope he's going to break these chains, oh yeah
Oh, the devil's going to make me a free man
The devil's going to set me free
Cult of Dionysus - The Orion Experience
So let's make a decision, start a new religion
Yeah, we're gonna build a temple to our love
Orgiastic dances, nymphs in trances
Yeah, we'll be the envy of the gods above
I'm feeling devious
You're looking glamorous
Let's get mischievous
And polyamorous
Wine and women and wonderful vices
Welcome to the cult of Dionysus
Puppet Loosely Strung - The Correspondents
Let me put myself in your shoes as a puppet loosely strung
Around you they were so confused a faulty man could have so much fun,
They read your smiles, nothing but teeth, looked at you with pity first, then disbelief
In the past you would have been seen as a family's disgrace
Now they think you're putting on a brave face
They might fear that one day they'll wear your shoes
But you're the one who's laughing, you had nothing to lose
bonus funne song:
Rasputin - Boney M
"This man's just got to go", declared his enemies
But the ladies begged, "don't you try to do it, please"
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute, they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
"Come to visit us", they kept demanding
And he really came
Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
They put some poison into his wine
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
He drank it all and said, "I feel fine"
