anon i'm afraid i'm unfamiliar with like, 70% of these. so i can't "rate" them other than based on their looks. instead of a scale of 1 to 10 you're getting my thoughts on their designs as i am notoriously bad at Ranking Things. and some babbling overall. enjoy

starting off with Bayonetta angels. Holy shit. the range.... monster-looking ones? humanoids? ships??? cars????? the flesh inside those gold and marble shells??? love them, quite horrifying and majestic at once.

Evangelion! cool stuff. always love some strange organic shapes for angels, and the very geometric ones are pretty interesting as well

Diablo. i like the tendril-like wings. the lack of a visible face is pretty cool as well..

i... i'm assuming you're talking about the 2010 movie "Legion". no comment on this one.

i'm not really sure what "Classic Bible Accurate Angels" would entail. if you're pedantic enough, you can argue that the cherubim and ophanim in Ezekiel's vision aren't exactly "angels" in the literal sense of the word. malakim/messengers/angels could appear as pretty much human. either way, the celestial being category is quite fascinating

my jaw dropped when i saw the Angelarium website. the designs?? the drawings themselves???? the writing as well. obsessed with this???? hello....... Definitely quite majestic

ULTRAKILL! yay! Gabriel and the Council's armor are pretty cool, and i like the virtues too (their concept art is so good!!!). hope we get to see more angels in the future.

ahhhhg they're both so cool. love how Death is a sphynx. i can't tell if they're exactly supposed to be angels (saw the Woodsprite called a "fairy" somewhere?), but the motifs are so good regardless

Dark Souls. ojh wow. i think these are the most disturbing on this list, i love them. taking organic shapes to another level.... they remind me of mycelia.... huge win for horrifying angel nation

i wasn't really sure what to focus on with Shin Megami Tensei. the angel enemy itself (poor thing went through a lot, design wise)? the divine demon class as a whole (a... lot of characters to look at)? so i went with the archangels. their SMT IV versions are great, the ornate and quite organic-looking shapes put them on the majestic end of the spectrum for me

Idk I always find it bizarre when people shocked that Marinette just let rubble and whatever fell down to Emilie's coffin just so Gabriel move to protect it as if it's smt new. Miraculous can be inconsistent with it's characterization sometimes, but not for Marinette. Her characterization is still strong and constant from s1. Her let the rubble fell to the coffin is her s1 equivalent of taking down Eiffel tower at the Mime episode or s2 when she baited anansi to punch the arc de triomphe so she'd be buried under it's rubble.

What bizzare is the amount of what Marinette destroyed is far exceed what Adrien, as the holder of desruction ever did. Chat Blanc excluded because he was akumatized while Marinette did all that intentionally.

Can't imagine just how much destruction she caused if she were the holder of black cat miraculous instead. Must be terrifying.

I feel like those other two were different because The Mime and Anansi were akumatized villains with superpowers, so they wouldn't die from that or anything, and they could defend themselves just fine. But it's not the same with Emilie Agreste. This is an innocent woman who as far as she knows wanted no part of this. This is the mother of the boy she supposedly loves and is fighting for. And she drops a whole elevator onto her body without a single second of hesitation. That's so cruel. That's awful.

This literally proves why Marinette is so unsuited for the role she occupied in the finale. She has no connection to any of this. The whole Agreste arc was built on their family drama and the emotions they have for each other. We're supposed to feel something for Emilie Agreste, regardless of her lacking presence in the story. And here comes Marinette, who cares fuck all for any of them, treating this innocent woman like a prop in her fight, literally dehumanizing her in order to get an advantage over Gabe. There's no consideration for Emilie, from the narrative or the characters. Gabriel had to be the one to save her from Marinette.

And I am a proud "Emilie Agreste was an abusive parent" truther, but that doesn't excuse this. At the end of the day, she was an innocent in Gabriel's supervillainy, and Marinette threatening her life as part of a strategy to defeat Gabe is awful. And like I said, this shows why it's so counterproductive to have her take the central role in the resolution of this conflict. We're supposed to watch Emilie's heartfelt words reach Gabriel, as if she matters, when Marinette just treated her like an object and almost killed her (not sure if she's already dead or just in a coma, but my point still stands). The emotions are all gone. Nothing matters expect Marinette being a girlboss (which is literally the stated reason for why Bug Noire happened, so that Marinette could look cool).

Like, can you imagine if Adrien was here? Could you imagine how he'd feel watching his partner who supposedly loves him using his mother as a tool to defeat his father? Could you imagine how he'd feel to see his mother's body be almost destroyed, to see his mother be killed because Ladybug wanted to beat Gabe's ass? How would it feel to see that Marinette doesn't consider his mother a person more than she thought of her as a prop to get an advantage over Gabriel?

But no, treating Emilie Agreste with any kind of dignity is secondary to letting Marinette be awesome and cool ig. Removing the character who is the emotional core of the story removes all emotion from the finale, who woulda thunk it.

"Sentimonster as metaphor for abused child" is ironically, smt that a child psychologists claimed when s4 aired. I'm not even sure how sentimonster who is a slave is a good metaphor for abused child in that person eyes or even in anyone who agreed with that person. Why need methapor when the show could just said "Yes this is child abuse and this is bad" but then again what can I hope from a show that told abused child that "The only way for you to gain freedom is to wait for your knight in shining armor" or "It's not abuse, your parents just give you tough love"

You point out another big reason why I don't think it's a metaphor or allegory for child abuse: the show actively has child abuse. You don't need something to act as a stand-in for what is already there.

Gabriel is neglectful, controlling, and emotionally abusive

Nathalie supports abuse through inaction, prioritizing the happiness and wants of man she loves over Adrien's needs

Audrey is neglectful and emotionally abusive

Andre is neglectful and overly indulgent

Jagged Stone abandoned his kids

Anarka isn't abusive as far as we know, but she's clearly not providing a safe and stable home life for her kids

Colt was - at the very least - emotionally abusive, possibly physically, too

Amilie possibly knowingly let abuse happen? Possibly didn't know? Possibly is also a victim, which doesn't change the fact that she seemingly didn't protect her kid. In other words, she's in the same boat as her sister where you just sit there and go, "So what was your role in all of this?"

Tomoe is controlling and holds her child to ridiculous standards

In other words, if you want to discuss child abuse in all of its various forms, then the show has you fully covered. The sentimonster plot isn't necessary.

Based on the writing, I don't think that the writers view anyone but Colt as abusive, but that's also evidence that the sentimonster plot isn't supposed to be about abuse. Because Gabriel is both abusing Adrien and using the ring, so you have the abuser just abusing in a different way and how is that supposed to work as metaphor or allegory?

You could have Adrien's sentimonster status represent all of the abusive things that Gabriel has done, but that would require you to give Adrien a way to break free of his status and we don't get that. Adrien is a full puppet when the rings are used and ANYONE can use them, not just his father.

Yes, abuse makes you more vulnerable to falling for more abuse, but it's a very different dynamic than the one established with the rings unless we're going to see Adrien physically give his rings to someone as a representation of the kind of mistakes you make before you've gone through therapy and understand what you've been through and know how to better watch for warning signs. Which, dear gods, these writers are not equipped to handle something so serious! That would be terrible! Plus Emilie is very clearly supposed to be a good, loving mom and yet she's the one who made the rings. Basically the while things is just too clumsy to be meaningful.

Allegory is a great tool, especially when it comes to media for kids, but it has to be handled with extreme care and planned out. The way the rings work and how they've been played is not good abuse allegory. It's just cheap drama. That's why it doesn't actually have any impact on the plot. I mean, seriously, would anything about season 5 change if you got rid of the sentimonster stuff and just had Emilie use the peacock for something else? Heck, you could have just given her cancer and nothing would change.

This piece was drawn in promotion for the PlayStation release of Shin Megami Tensei II. It was most notably used on a B2 sized pre-release poster, much like SMT’s.

The four archangels, Michael, Uriel, Raphael and Gabriel, can be seen above the Tokyo Millennium, their large, striking presence above the Centre seeming to suggest that they are the true authority of the Millennium. All of them have golden skin and are entirely armour-clad, standing with unyielding stance. Gabriel is the only exception to this, who can be seen at the bottom, tenderly holding Aleph. Much like Zero City, this piece is also an homage to its SFC box art counterpart.

Listen I tried starting the Bungo Stray Dogs manga like 7 years ago or smt, but I was falling out of the reading manga train so I have not read it or watched BUT I'm watching a guy react to it and it finally convince me to give it another shot.

That said what I made this post for was because them exploring more worldwide things in s5 made really want some latino autors like:

I want Carlos Fuentes, I want his gift to be "Aura" which allows him to bring people back from the death by summoning their soul into a living persons body, stealing it away.

I want Gabriel García Márquez, "Cien años de soledad" (one hundred years of solitude) being his gift would be the obvious choice, allowing him to capture people in a time prison or something could be cool but "El amor en los tiempos del colera" (love in the times of cholera) would be funny and "Crónica de una muerte anunciada" (chronicle of a death foretold) would be cool if we didn't already had 2 characters who could forsee their own death.

Jorge Luis Borges having "El Aleph" giving him a kind of omnipresence allowing his spirit to leave his body and percive from above and great distance.

Julio Cortazar havin "Rayuela" as his gift allowing him to chose between possible futures that things could have at the moment, I don´t know what Juan Rulfo's gift would be since I don't know how to make his most iconic work "Pedro Paramo" into a gift, Like forcing dead beat dads to take accountability? who knows, the possibilities are endless.

Just Latin American autors being anime boys you know.

(honorary mention to the autor of "Por amor a Feliciana" (For love of Feliciana) whom I actually met, he signed my book then I proceeded to lend it to someone I can't remember and they never returned, also my watercolour teacher bashed him when she saw me reading the book, because I think his gift would be the ability to teleport next to a person as long as he is horny enough for them)

1. Bayonetta Angels

I've never played the games before, but these are neat! The ones that look like inanimate objects are interesting, I love their ornateness. 5/10

2. Evangelion Angels

I have yet to watch Evangelion, its been on my watch list for some time, maybe this is my signal to finally get to it. I love giant angels and the feeling they give, no matter how important humans think they are, there will always be things that will outclass them. 9/10

3. Diablo Angels

I love the Diablo angels, I think their designs are super cool. I especially love their wings and their ornate armor. My Tyrael Funko sits on my desk and watches me sleep at night, he's my little guardian angel. 5/10

4. Legion Angels

No femboys :( 1/10

5. Classic Bible Accurate Angels

I love the cosmic horror of biblical angels, Imagine looking at the sky and seeing a creature so large it dips below the horizon. Very gender. 10/10

6. Angelerium Angels

I absolutely adore the Angelarium series, Peter Mohrbacher's work is gorgeous. I think his work really taps into existential fear, especially for the larger angels/emanations; The feeling of being completely overshadowed by forces infinitely more powerful and important than you. 10/10

7. DOOM angels

Im afraid I've never played Doom; I don't think they are all that majestic or horrifying, but I do absolutely adore the combination of the robotic and angelic. 3/10

8. Ultrakill Angels

Ultrakill has a special place in my heart. Again I wouldn't say the angels are that majestic or scary, but that does not mean Gabriel doesn't have ownership over my soul. 2/10

8. The Woodsprite and Death from Guillermo Del Toro's Pinnochio

The angels are actually what got me to watch Pinocchio in the first place, and in extension got me interested in Guillermo del Toro. The angels, on par with the rest of his work, are absolutely gorgeous. Same thing with his Angel of Death in Hellboy. 7/10

9. Dark Souls Angels

I never got around to playing Dark Souls 3, I didn't know until now they had angels! I love their (and the series' in general) haunting but organic design. 6/10

10. Shin Megamei Tensei Angels

This got me into a rabbit hole of looking at different SMT angels. I don't know too much about it but it seems interesting, clearly there was a lot of research put into it which is very intriguing. Thank you for asking me about this! 5/10

A Collection of Depictions of Michael and Gabriel

I made this as a Twitter thread earlier this year. I decided to post this on Tumblr because why not? Since this format is more effective and fitting than on Twitter.

Also, I made this thread with the intense purpose to ship Michael/Gabriel

Keep in mind that some needed some speculation, and I took all of my info on Wikipedia. I did some research myself but I got lazy during it so a lot of info may be wrong or inaccurate, so please be mindful of that. 

The first time they’re mentioned at the same time is during The Book of Daniel (Daniel 10:13), where a ‘man in lenin’ told Daniel the Prince of Persia had resisted them for 21 days from delivering the message to him and that Michael had helped them. Some people speculate that this could be Gabriel because of Daniel's initial (They were introduced earlier) and current reaction to them, which is fear (or more precisely, trembling on hands and knees). But others say that it wouldn’t be them because their name are not mentioned during the passage, and that Daniel had met Gabriel before, so it’s weird for him to choose to be scared twice. 

Another thing that supports the man being Gabriel is that the man in lenin is mentioned again in The Book of Ezekiel, where they followed the orders of God to mark those who would survive the massacre of Israel. Drawing a mark can be interpreted as ‘sending a message’, and it fits considering Gabriel’s role in the New Testament is sending the news to Zechariah and Mary about the birth of John The Baptist and Jesus. 

But again, this is pure speculation. This angel may or may not be Gabriel. The reason I put this here is because this is the very first depiction where Michael and Gabriel (sort of) are mentioned together in the canon Biblical text, and possibly the only canon depiction from the canon Bible. And also I wanna be delusional and think it’s Gabriel for personal reasons anjkdhsjd

Carrying on, in Judaism, there’s a quote saying, “When a man is in need, he must pray directly to God, and neither to Michael nor to Gabriel." Michael and Gabriel are said to be the guardian angels of Israel.

In Kabbalah literature, Gabriel is portrayed as working in concert with Michael as part of God’s court.

In Eastern Orthodox, Michael and Gabriel are considered to be the guardian angels of the Church.

Within Anglicanism, there is a controversial proposal written by bishop Robert Clayton that proposes that Michael is the Logos (a title connected to the trinity) and Gabriel is the Holy Spirit. 

I actually tried to check it out myself, but it’s like, 400 pages long and I can’t be asked to read the entire thing so I just skimmed through and read the parts where Michael and Gabriel are mentioned. I could only find Gabriel being mentioned as the Holy Spirit, I’m sure that the previous pages did mention Michael as the Logos, but again, I’m too lazy to go back and practically gave up by the end of it. So it’s better to read it yourself if you’re interested.

Fun fact about this depiction by Robert Clayton is that apparently, it was so controversial that the government ordered his prosecution, but he died before his scheduled examination.  

Moving on, in Islam, Michael is often paired with Gabriel. A version of a hadith by an-Nasa’i, Muhammad is quoted saying that Michael and Gabriel came to him and sat down by his left and right side respectively. With Gabriel telling him to recite the Qu’ran in one mode, while Michael telling him to ask more until he reached seven modes. 

According to another hadith in Sahih Muslim, Michael and Gabriel accompanied him on the day of the Battle of Uhud.

In artistic depictions, the two Archangels are depicted together since the 8th century e.g the stone casket at the Notre Dame de Mortain church in France.

Though there is another artistic depiction of them, in the reproduced image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, an icon of the Cretan school, depicts Michael on the left carrying the lance and sponge of the crucifixion of Jesus, with Gabriel being on the right side of Mary and Jesus.

Another artistic depiction is Justice Between the Archangels Michael and Gabriel by Jacobello del Fiore.

Quick question, what are some books that you have enjoyed?

ehehe maybe this answer will be super boring 2 u but i lovee scientific nonfiction .. esp if its to do w cell or cancer biology

^ siddhartha mukherjee is my fav at the moment . maybe forever idk .. “emperor of all maladies: a biography of cancer” or “the gene: an intimate history” are BOTH SOOO GOOD !!!SO INTERESTING & CAPTIVATINGG !! “the song of the cell” is also very enjoyable, but i think the first two definitely appealed to me more 🤔.by a small margin ,mind u

“the open heart club” by gabriel brownstein is a part memoir , part historical summation of the rise of cardiology / cardiac surgery . iirc i think this book is what convinced me that i only want to read nonfiction GAHAHA loved it from what i remember. “a good time to be born, how science & public health gave children a future” by perri klass 🤔?maybe

More information about the AU (and at some point the fic)

May be a bit Beelzebub-centric cause I'm bias.

• Gabriel and Aziraphale are brothers. Since Gabriel moved back into town, they are in the early stages of patching up a rough relationship from their late teens/early twenties. (A la- s1 relationship but like, human version)

• Gabriel and Michael are college "buddies" or smt, that decided to start a law firm together. She doesn't understand why Gabriel wants to repair the relationship with his brother.

•Beelzebub and Crowley grew up together and are very close despite how their interactions seem. They shit talk each other but will fight to the death anyone else who shit talks the other.

•Beelz and Crowley are also actually kind of friends with Eric. He's a bit younger than them and Beelz gets aggravated with him at work, but they do genuinely like him.

• Beelzebub and Aziraphale (maybe Muriel?) are autistic. Eric and Crowley have ADHD.

•Eric deals with most the rude customers and Karens (If Nina isn't there) because he's actually good at it. Beelz get too annoyed or overwhelmed by them.

•When Beelz gets too stressed they go non-verbal. If they're still able to work they will put on headphones and just make the drinks. They know sign language and have taught Nina and Eric enough to understand them.

•Beelz and Crowley has a silly secret coffee order that lets Beelz know if Crowley is using he/him or she/her pronouns that day. They could just ask but this is funner.

(Example: some Expresso drink is masc and something strawberry is fem. Sometimes it's mixed but like a double Expresso w/strawberry syrup would be he/him still, if that makes sense) (I don't know drinks don't @ me)

•Eric either has the worst taste in music or his playlists give people genre whiplash so bad he's not allowed to play his music while the shop's open.
