in a dream was written as an ode to a love that spans across lifetimes; bright and real and achingly inexorable. a love that transcends time and space and rational thought and any and all earthly woes. it was written to honour twin flames and little synchronicities and endless and inexplicable devotion. but most of all it was written from the heart. and now i’m giving it to you. and i hope you’ll connect with it and i hope you’ll have it stuck in your head like i have for the past five months.
the video was so fun to put together! i cut the words out of well-loved books which seemed only fitting- stories within stories, you know? anyway, here it is. the most important love letter i’ve written so far.
enjoy ♡
love, luck + antivenom,

First Line Meme
I’ve been tagged by a few people to do this, thanks @thelittlefanpire @kindclaws @justbecauseyoubelievesomething and anyone else who tagged me!!
Rules: Post the first line of one of your WIPs and tag as many people as there are words.
First line of a Zaven fic where they meet in college, fall in love, and then take a road trip when she gets a job on the other side of the country.
“When she first met Ezekiel Shaw, she was in her first day of her junior year, in her mid-level Astrophysics course.”
First line of a Becho soulmate AU where your body is covered in essentially a painting of your soulmates life
‘Bellamy had always heard stories from his mother about soul-marks. Everyone with a soulmate was born with some amount of colour on their bodies, depending on how much time their soulmate had been alive.”
(not the) First line of my Bellamy/Gaia The Magicians AU fic, where Bellamy goes to Brakebills, meets Gaia, and then they find out Octavia’s magic has been stolen and they have to get it back.
“He missed his sister. He had hoped her magic would manifest before he left, but it never did. They had the same mother, but Octavia’s father did not have magical gifts, and it seems Octavia had taken after him.”
Also in the works is the next chapter of my Sansa/Meera fic, whatever my chopped holiday fic ends up being, and who knows what else. i’ve gotten rid of a bunch of my WIP’s recently.
tagging: @teeandsnowflakes @raven-reyes-of-sunshine @the-most-beautiful-broom and anyone else who wants to do this, because im sure most of you have been tagged already!

Katarina Rostova wasn’t just a mother. She was a wife, a mistress, a daughter, a friend, a KGB agent, and if still alive - is a grandmother. She's been in the show since the pilot, threaded in more character stories than people realize.
An episode-by-episode list of Katarina & Masha Rostova.
Rostova: Season One
Pilot -
Gender neutrality was shown from the very beginning. Not just in dialogue, but in the t-shirt Tom was wearing as well as their adoption storyline "It's a girl."
Tom: For the field trip Air and Space or the D.C. Zoo? Liz: The zoo’s gender neutral.
We were introduced to Katarina Rostova through Red's dialogue.
Red: Abandoned by a father who was a career criminal, a mother who died of weakness and shame.
And Masha Rostova through Beth Ryker.
Liz: Your name’s Beth, right? Yeah? My name’s Beth too. I’m Elizabeth. My friends call me Liz, though. You can call me Liz if you want.
Both ballerinas.
Liz: When I was little, I loved ballet. Whenever I performed, I felt a presence.
Both children having their lives disrupted because they're in danger.
Red: Within the hour, Ranko Zamani will abduct the daughter of U.S. General Daniel Ryker.
Red: As I feared would happen, elements from Katarina’s past are circling Elizabeth like a pack of wolves in the night. I put Tom Keen in her life to keep an eye on her, and he married her. Kate: This isn’t about Tom Keen. It’s about your need for control. Red: Indeed. I need to control the danger to Elizabeth. I’ve built a vast criminal network predicated on that very principal. It’s time to live up to my mission statement.
With the presumed dead actually being alive.
Red: Then a dead man just stepped off United 283 from Munich to Dulles. Ressler: Listen up, people. The lab just pulled a latent print from the airline arm rest. Nine points of comparison. Zamani’s alive.
Liz and Beth Ryker, Zamani's daughter and son.
Zamani: This is about the children. Raymond, today on this day - I am giving their plague back to them.
The Freelancer -
This episode brought us Floriana Campo, mothers and their children.
Floriana: Do you have children, agent Keen? Liz: Uh, Elizabeth. And If all goes well - Floriana: There is no work more meaningful than being a mother. I didn’t have kids of my own. This is my one regret. But these girls that I’m trying to protect, they are my family.
Red: I think the assassin may have slipped her a lethal cocktail of the same barbiturates she uses to drug her children. She’s not the woman you think she is.
Wujing -
The Wujing - Katarina parallel, both spymasters regarded as a myth.
Liz: Do you expect me to believe that - a secret meeting with the mysterious Wujing? He's a myth.
Masik: I don’t think there are any photographs of Katarina Rostova. She’s a myth.
The Stewmaker -
Again, with the children.
Kornish: What about you? Are you a mother? Liz: No. Kornish: That’s good.
Soundtrack:
♪ See I left my mothers heart See I left my fathers home And I fell into a well of hope ♪
The Courier -
Liz: What is this place? Red: Something of a hideaway. It used to be home to one of the finest American writers who ever lived - Fredrick Hemstead. Liz: Never heard of him. Red: No, you haven’t. Nobody has. Dear Fredrick was waiting tables when we first met. Strange little man, built like a fireplug. He was living here with his mother until she died.
Gina Zanetakos -
This episode brought in the parallel between Tom and Katarina, which includes the murder case of an FSB agent named Victor Fokin.
Tom: And there’s - there’s passports with my face on it. And, uh - these names. Who the hell is Anton Pierre Louis?
Red: I knew her as Katarina Rostova. One of her many names.
Frederick Barnes -
This brings in the story of Mrs. Forrester's affair, like Katarina's affair with the real Red. Katarina allowing Constantin to believe Masha was his, like Mrs. Forrester leading her husband to believe Ethan was his. The real Red knowing he was Masha’s father, just as Frederick Barnes knew he was Ethan's.
Mrs. Forrester: Frederick is Ethan’s father. Liz: Does your husband know this? Mrs. Forrester: It just happened. I thought it was best for the family to keep the secret. Liz: Does Frederick know he’s Ethan’s real father? Mrs. Forrester: Yeah.
Liz redecorating, bringing in the grandmother.
Tom: I like this one. Liz: Grandma’s Pumpkins? Tom: Grandma’s what?
The Takoma house scene brought in Symphony No. 3 by Henryk Górecki. The dominant themes of the symphony are motherhood and separation through war.
General Ludd -
The end of this episode gave us their swingset scene, which is current day Katarina and Masha - the "now" of their photograph in Red's flat.
The Good Samaritan Killer -
The Good Samaritan was a victim of his mother’s abuse.
Samaritan: I was a victim. My mother. She called it tough love. It was abuse.
In the opening of the episode, he killed Michael's mother for abusing him.
Meera: Michael’s mother was abusing him for years, and now she ends up dead.
Add in the DV victim, considering Red was shot and killed the night of the fire while assaulting Katarina.
The Alchemist -
Eric Trettel helped people disappear by faking their deaths. Bring in the wife and daughter. Trettel, a “bad man” like Raymond Reddington, willing to kidnap his wife and child.
Mrs. Trettel: You shouldn’t be here. Eric is a very dangerous man. In his head, he thinks we’re still together, a family.
Anslo Garrick: Conclusion -
This episode gave us Mr. Kaplan's assumed gender.
Mr. Kaplan: What color is the sky? Liz: Red. You? You’re Mr. Kaplan?
The Cyprus Agency -
This episode brought us the adoption business to play in part with Liz being adopted by Sam, and the kidnapping of children tying in Masha's kidnapping.
Red: Lizzy, I’m giving you the chance to take down a criminal organization that is abducting babies from their mothers’ arms.
The victim they introduced in the opening scene was seeking out her child. Doesn't matter how she was conceived, that child was still hers.
Woman: My baby. Please. They have him. They - Please. My baby. They have - have him Please. Please. They - they have my baby. They took my baby. They took my baby. They - They took my baby. They have my baby.
Coincidentally, both children were kidnapped by the father.
Liz: Your legacy. You’re the father. The children brokered by the Cyprus Agency are yours.
Kate: So what he - he - he stole Masha to hurt you? Katarina: No, that’s not it. He thinks she’s his.
Five kidnapped women, all biological mothers having their children (27 total) given up for adoption without their consent.
Madeline Pratt -
This episode introduced us to Cooper's wife and children.
Red: I was just looking at the pictures of Charlene and the kids. How old are they now? The kids, not Charlene.
And Red's Bloody Christmas Eve story. No mention of a wife, just a female child.
Red: I can - I can still smell the nape of her neck, feel her little fingers on my cheek, her whisper in my ear.
The Judge -
This episode gave us Red's dialogue to Ruth, assumed to be a man.
Red: Think of him as a prisoner’s court of last resort.
Red: Of course. A woman.
As well as the dialogue from her victims.
Liz: Aram, the paper said Rifkin’s last words at his execution were “Good night, mother.” He said it to his spiritual adviser, Ruth Kipling. I just heard Hastings say it.
Mako Tanida -
Parallel of Ressler losing Audrey just as Katarina lost Raymond.
Audrey was pregnant, so she would've been a mother.
Scene cuts at the end flip between the ballet, Ressler, and Liz in the shower with Tom. Back to that dialogue from Liz in S5.
Liz: When I was little, I loved ballet. Whenever I performed, I felt a presence.
Red's scene with Christine.
Red: I’ll see you on the 22nd. And please send my thanks to your mother.
Ivan  -
This episode brought us Harrison Lee's grandmother, Ms. Lee.
Ms. Lee: A computer hacker? I can’t even set my thermostat without the help of my grandson. Ressler: Your grandson?
As well as the music box scene, which parallels Liz's scene in Gaia's episode.
Liz: You knew I’d find out the truth. And you wanted me - Red: To know that everything is going to be okay. You’re going to be okay.
Liz: I mean, that’s my one job - to protect my child. Make her feel safe at any cost. To hold her. To tell her everything’s gonna be okay. But now - because of me, because of what I’ve done, I can’t even do that.
Milton Bobbit -
This episode had Red "threatening" Craig Keen's mother at the art museum.
Craig: I don’t know what you think you’re gonna gain from all this, but I’m not gonna talk. I will die before I give you anything. If you so much as touch my mother -
The Pavlovich Brothers -
This episode brought us back to the Tom - Katarina parallel. Katarina marrying Constantin as a cover, Tom marrying Liz as a cover. Keen2′s scenes in this episode mirror Red and Kirk's torture scenes in 4x8.
Liz: Stop talking about your job! You, this. Everything was a lie! My life was a lie!
Red: You saw what Katarina wanted you to see. She lied to you about everything.
The Kingmaker -
This episode brought us the death of a wife and mother.
Liz: It must be difficult to see her so traumatized. Chandler: She’s heartbroken. Her mother was everything to her. She was everything to us both.
Berlin's episodes -
The death of Meera Malik, mother of two kids, a daughter and a son.
Red confirming for Liz that her father is dead.
Red: I’m telling you, with no uncertainty, your father is dead. He died in that fire.
Backstory characters in this season:
Sam Milhoan knew Katarina Rostova, but was not confirmed to know the real Reddington. Mr. Kaplan knew Katarina Rostova, but did not know the real Reddington. Alan Fitch, Harold Cooper, and Admiral Richard Abraham all knew the real Reddington - Katarina Rostova's lover and target. The big bad of this season was Berlin. He believed his daughter was killed by the real Reddington - our Red's assumed identity. Again ... Katarina's lover and target.

The British theme
One of the new themes I am starting to discern is the British theme.  Once Dom said nappies instead of diapers, my ear perked up.  I waited for a second British clue that appeared in 4.11 in the form of Red having a deal with MI-6 and working with Emma Knightley, a blond rookie agent he pulls from obscurity and who eventually works for him full time. An associate who survives betraying him and Liz.  I have been tracking this theme quietly and this  is my preliminary list.
In season1 there was a choice of using any actress for the agent that would get killed at the end of the season, Meera Malik. Ultimately an actress with a still discernible British accent was chosen as the CIA agent handpicked by Diane Fowler, Cabal agent, to be her liaison.  As an undercover agent for her entire career Meera fell under the Director of Clandestine Services.  Meera covers the entirety of season 1.
This is a work in progress, so if you spot one I miss, please let me know.

Note
I've always hated Tom so the fact I hate him even more this season is not surprising but I'm so curious about what are the casual viewers's feelings about him now because I might be crazy and hopeful but the show is just not putting him in a good light. Tom calling Red dishonest and dangerous after all he's doing it, has to be on purpose to show us how horrible he is. I can't believe that the show's plan is for the viewers to root for him.
Oh, to be a casual viewer. Must be nice.
This is the thing that has surprised me the most so far about Tom this season. They do seem to be going out of their way to make him look bad.
He is running around risking his neck based on zero information. I always assumed Tom had reason for hating Red and wanting Liz away from him, some information he hadn’t shared. If he doesn’t? Then he really is just stupid.
I honestly have no idea what he’s thinking. What on earth does he hope to accomplish?
Something I posted awhile back: “Tom is the brilliant bumbler, driving the story by having seemingly no concept of the minefield he’s playing in.”
And he apparently never learns.
This is a problem with the Tom and Kaplan arcs overall. Just this blind desire to get Liz away from Red while we’re sitting there like, ‘why?’
There is danger that comes with being an FBI agent, with working on the Reddington task force. Meera and Cooper are dead and living proof of that (they’ve all been almost dead at one time or another). But apparently Liz is the only one who must be treated like a child and protected from her own life. No one’s trying to get Aram to walk away. lol
Kate speaks of grave danger in the 4x22 deleted scene, but Tom apparently doesn’t know anything about it. So….
Liz: We were wrong. My family wasn’t safer away from Reddington….You hate the fact that he always thinks he knows what’s best for me, and now you think you do instead. I have a right to think for myself.
Kate: You have the right, just not the capacity. You can’t possibly conceive the danger he brings to your life.
Kate saying basically that if Liz had full information, she’d walk away. But did Kate even have full information? Tom apparently doesn’t need any information at all to risk everything to get Liz to walk away. Telling Red he hopes he rots in a ship prison as far away from Liz as possible. So maybe Kate was just randomly bitter too.
Anyway, yeah. They’re definitely going back to the season one feel and not even attempting to paint Tom in a good light. He’s making the same blunders he made in Gaia by not trusting Liz. The same blunders he’s made over and over with trying to get Red away from Liz, no reasoning behind it. They’re making him look bad. No forethought about the ramifications of what he’s pursuing.
This is the thing that has me wondering if they’ll actually do it this time. End it the way season one almost did. With a bullet in Tom’s head.

in a dream was written as an ode to a love that spans across lifetimes; bright and real and achingly inexorable. a love that transcends time and space and rational thought and any and all earthly woes. it was written to honour twin flames and little synchronicities and endless and inexplicable devotion. but most of all it was written from the heart. and now i’m giving it to you. and i hope you’ll connect with it and i hope you’ll have it stuck in your head like i have for the past 6 months. anyway, here it is. the most important love letter i’ve written so far.  love, luck + antivenom, g ♡

tagged by @thelittlefanpire and @the-most-beautiful-broom, who i love dearly and am constantly inspired by <3
Fandoms You Write for: the 100, Skam Italia, a couple Game of Thrones fics, and i’ve got plans to write for The Magician’s in the future if i can get a little inspiration going
Where you post: AO3
Most popular one shot: I just need some company Modern AU Bellarke smut, in my brief foray in writing straight up E rated bellarke smut. I rather like it, tbh.
Most popular Multi-Chapter: I wish I had known what we’d grow into Modern AU childhood friends to lovers fic? I honestly don’t even know where I was planning to take this story anymore, and it was SO far down on my stats page for hits. Multi chapter fics are not my thing at all.
Favorite story you wrote: This question is kind of weird because I have a few? I am always ridiculously proud of my memori Bonnie and Clyde AU, To Few it’ll be grief, to the law relief, I think one of my best fics is my Becho Coffeeshop/Werewolf fic from round 1 of chopped last year, for who could ever learn to love a beast, but my Becho To All The Boys fic, I’d Stay For A Long Time ‘cause, I Like Me Better When, is the fic i think i’m the most proud of and i enjoy the most? its my longest fic, and when i started writing it it was the first becho fic i’d ever written and it just flowed out and was so fun to write. I also really love my Gendrya fic, The Loneliest Lord In Westeros, it was the first fic i wrote for GoT and it was so well received, and i’m so happy with it. Thats such a cop out answer but i don’t care.
Story you were nervous to post: And she said use your hands in my spare time, my first ever full on smut fic, usually i would write around the smut, keeping my fics pg 13, but i really pushed myself to write a pretty lengthy smut fic and i was pretty pleased with it in the end, but when i was about to post i felt SO awkward and weird? just because i had no idea if it was any good
How do you choose your titles: Mostly song titles, but sometimes i’ll come up with them on my own, from a line in my fic or something.
Do you outline: When i’m taking on a longer fic i try to, but usually not.
Complete number of stories: SIXTY! 60! Ten 6′s! Six 10′s!!!! I honestly can’t believe that.
In progress: Becho soulmate reincarnation AU, a sansa/meera fic that i love, a bellamy/gaia fic that i haven’t posted for yet but i really like, and there are four chopped rounds starting TOMORROW that i might be writing for, but we shall see!
Do you accept prompts: I do, but i usually end up not finishing them, and i am not super good at filling prompts because it comes from inspiration outside of my own brain and i have a hard time getting into prompt fics. I do enjoy getting them because sometimes they spark something though
Upcoming Story you are most excited about: Whenever i get around to finishing that sansa/meera fic, and im hoping that i find a way to finish out the bellaia fic sometime soon because its actually really good.
Linds posted the paragraph below and I just needed to keep it because i feel the same way. Thanks to everyone who reads my fics, comments, gives kudos, reblogs anything i write, and more. I honestly can’t believe people actually engage with my writing and enjoy it, and im so thankful <3
I never would’ve thought I’d be here, with hundreds of people reading a word I wrote, much less stories. I know it can be hard in fandom to feel like you only have a set number of people that read your work, or that care, but I promise fic writing is a place where relativity is just stupid. Your work is good bc it’s good, independent of anyone else’s fic, your stats, or theirs. To all the people I’m tagging, thanks for reading mine, and letting me read yours ❤️
Tagging: @probably-voldemort @raven-reyes-of-sunshine @kindclaws @pawprinterfanfic and anyone else who wants to participate! i never know peoples tumblrs if i read your fics on AO3, but i love you all <3

Summer 2017 re-watch notes: 1:03 Wujing #84
This episode was very rich in symbols. We get Red, in a plaid vest, playing chess by a water feature that reflects like a mirror.
Tumblr media
Wujing is referred to as a myth,  a secret child who became invisible to his family, like I bet liz was, a secret child.
We have Cooper, Ressler and Meera pressuring Liz to take the job. We also have a character speaking chinese (to Meera) and Liz does not understand, like we have Glen speaking mandarin to the encryption guy looking for Gaia in season 4.
We have Red delivering one, to me, of the most important lines in the show: we do it for real or not at all, which to me explains why he became a criminal: he was suppose to play the traitor, and play it for real to infiltrate the cabal.
Tumblr media
I loved the scene with the apple man and the techs installing the surveillance and moving like a well oiled machine when Ellie comes back. And Meera doing a hard blink to Ressler, as Red openly laughs at him when he cannot believe foreign spies are operating a radio station
First look at Aram! And Ressler being a hothead again, ready to burst in kicking doors. Red and Liz communicating in code! Ressler’s awesome fight in the skyscraper and then pushing the bad guy off. That's fun!
Henry Cho being a civilian recruited because of his access, I think foreshadows Constantin Rostov, recruited to spy on the USSR because he had access.
CHILDREN IN DANGER: We have children in danger in the son of Henry Cho.
Red putting himself between Liz and the gun. Also how interesting is now to see Liz's cool reaction to all this threatening. How now is so easy to see that for a rookie, newly minted field agent she was unnaturally cool and even keeled.
And then the boy cries to his father: Dad!
Also When Wujing tells Red: "I can get us out of the country." Red answers with a curious, very British phrase: "That's very kind, but I'm sure we can muddle through on our own." A very similar phrase is used twice by Emma Knightley. Once when she bumps into the target to steal the keys:"Ooh, I'll muddle through. I'm okay. Braxton-Hicks. I'll be okay, really." and then when she bumps into Liz to get the device with the witness protection Liz:"Ooh. I'll muddle through. You've got blood on your face."
And another key phrase from Red: "I believe I will always do whatever I think I have to do to keep you alive." a phrase that supersedes lying to her.  And “Because of your father” to me continues to be of outmost interest, because I believe Liz had several “fathers”.
Then Liz talks about holding her end of the deal and asking for the answer owed to her, that Red finds so amusing, especially after she shuts the car door on him, which makes him smile.
And the answer that the answer is complicated and so is the question is still interesting. Considering that in the previous week she had taken Red's glass and send it for DNA test for paternity it seems clear she was really terrified.
Finally the way Ressler praises Liz and then turns to tell Cooper how Liz is lying is great.
There are plaids in the party at the end, indicating Liz is hiding things, as is Tom.
And Liz continues to successfully lie to Tom and the FBI.

rabbits, magic, hats, Alice in Wonderland references.
I had noticed the many magic references many times. Coupled with Red associated with water, and a tale of a father and a daughter, trying to fight a war, made me think of Shakespeare’s The Tempest: Red as Prospero the magician, with the books that give him power (the fulcrum) and trying to restore justice, by using his magic.
Of course Red wears hats all the time. rabbits figure in the story prominently.
I notice that characters that like magic tend to be on Red’s side: Aram and Liz, and Ressler, who hates magicians and lap dogs and bicycles is on the opposite side, disliking Red’s methods.
@kiss-my- freckle  noticed the many references to Alice in wonderland: rabbits, rabbit holes, figures that appear huge. Clocks and watches.
So here is the list of all this, by episode:

1.16   in Mako Tanida Red sends Ressler Mako’s head in a box, reminiscing of the Queen in Alice screaming off with their heads.

You can’t redeem a person until they’re ready. Tom isn’t ready because he’s not done screwing up. That’s why there’s no talk of what he did to Meera. Nevermind that he left two kids to grow up without a mother. That’s why he has yet to apologize to Cooper. Because Cooper hasn’t yet learned of the kill list. That’s why he still hasn’t faced his killing of the harbormaster. Has no regret for that. Nevermind that he left his daughter without a father. Asher and his fiance who never stood a chance. All because Asher was a young man who wanted to see how the other half lived. Liz, and the dangers he’s put her in. Agnes, and the danger she’s in now. The pot will boil. Liz bringing up the past in Gaia, that’s just the beginning.
